This place was on my list for quite sometime and finally one rainy evening, I went ahead and ordered to my heart's content. Must say, I was impressed by the sheer care with which the 3 pork burgers were packed ! While the rest of the four items - goan pork, chicken kothu paratha, thallasery mutton biryani and mutton curry were all packed in one packet, each of the 3 burgers had their own packets with wafers and tissue packed in. And rightfully so, each of these had a special tall box and were huge. Would one day dine in at the place.
This cozy place has my heart. From the warm welcoming staff to mouth watering dishes, this place is for you if you want to enjoy your food in solace or in a group and it makes you feel at home. Sambar Rice is a must order, Mutton Pepper Dry, Mahabalipuram Fish Fry are too worth ordering.
this the place where you can find authentic unique south indian recipies.. else all other eateries are confined to dosa & idlis... to know more watch the youtube video by Debojyoti Vlogs
A very colourful, well decorated cozy cafe with even an outdoor seating arrangement.I had filter coffee and brownie, both tasted good and is light to the pocket.I really loved the friendly vibes of the people who attended.
We had an amazing journey with food at Surfire The Coastal Cafe. Each of the dishes are subtly flavourful and induces a complete new experience. Thank you Ishani Priyadarshini for letting us devour in your creation.
Loved it!!! All the preparations we great, perfect ambiance to go with the cuisine, prompt service what more can you ask for. Special mention for the unique beverage they offer Kaffi Fizzy, I personally loved it but may not be to the liking of every individual. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a bright and vibrant diner serving good south indian coastal cuisine.

Visited here for dinner, though found less items on menu for non veg starters, the main course are pretty good in taste,
little high price I felt, but you would ove the ambience with soothing lights .
This place serves authentic South Indian and coastal cuisines. It is located near Mudiali Club Puja Pandal. We visited here on Navami night for dinner. We tried out:
1. Chicken special biryani (served along with a bowl of raita)
2. Porota
3. Kerala Mutton fry
The quality and the quantity of food was satisfactory. The service and the behavior of the staffs were extremely pleasant. The prices are slightly on a higher scale though.
This place serves one of the most amazing foods in Kolkata. This is an understatement. It's even better once you taste it. They have a very delicious and delectable menu from the coastal regions of India. The most welcoming and genial host makes your experience even better. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience and they made my first puja day. I recommend everyone to give them a try and taste their delicious and beautiful experiments with food.
I really love the cozy vibe of Surfire. Have had a couple of meals here and I must say that the mutton Pepper fry and the Kapi fizz are absolutely brilliant.
I love how much passion Ishani puts in. I even ordered a coastal crab curry from here and also the thalesary biryani which were weekend specials
Both tasted very nice and I really love teh food.
The staff is very warm too.
Came her for some take away like mutton halim and appam, and not only it was well prepared but it was packed very nicely too.will visit definitely in the future to try some other dishes.
I just loved this place
The staffs were so courteous and so helpful
V took aam thali all the food waa infused with raw or tipe mango...it waa too good
The crab was just stirred wd butter n garlic it was really good.
The food was on point n really delicious
Would love to visit this place again
Service is slow but extremely courteous. The food defies expectations. We ordered for an appam, a kerala porota, a pork vindaloo, a thattukada mutton, two kotthuparathas, and a rava kesari. I will definitely be back for the kotthuparatha, the absolutely melt in the mouth mutton, and rich rava kesari. It took us a while to get to the location but thank heavens that we finally did! What a discovery!
We visited on a sudden plan yesterday for dinner.
Very nice neighborhood... The decor was sleek ...special mention is the lighting...loved it.. photographs come out very well due to the lighting..
Now coming to the food...order Karuvapellai chickens starter. The chicken kothu paratha was really unique as per the other reviews.
Also orders Kerala Mutton Fry which was heavenly. Jigarthanda is a drink to definitely go for...one can be shared between 2 or have the full by yourself.
The owner and staff are very friendly and gives an overall homely feeling.
Price is a bit on the higher side. Still the rest are manageable, charging Rs 50 for one paratha or appam , I felt is too much. Something in the range of 20 To 30 should have been correct. This is infact the only negative thing that I have to say about the place.
Would be back specially to taste the haleem.
Good food always creates good mood...
I loved their service, quality and quantity... The owners and the staff's are very welcoming, polite, courteous, dedicated, friendly, efficient - be it tending to customers or keeping the place neat and tidy - they did so with effortless ease. Upholds excellent hygiene standards. It was a good dining experience. Food is served relatively quick (can be quicker though) and excellent in taste.
Whatever I write it can't even be close enough to describe the exact feeling that I have experienced being there...this place is ultimate heaven for foodies. By reading this review you won't understand... only way to feel that pleasure is experiencing it by being there. So foodies if you don't know about this place or haven't heard it's name plz visit this place ASAP...
I would most definitely recommend this place
Malabar paratha with Haleem, appam with fried pepper mutton....a must must have... simply heavenly...tried the Aam thali...liked some dishes...the others not so much...but an innovation nonetheless...my congratulations to the chef...A must visit place.
SURFIRÉ THE COASTAL CAFE
Tucked just opposite to the Rabindra Sarobar Lake, this restaurant is serving up some delicacies that intrigued me since a long time. Finally...finally, I visited this place on the insistence of a friend of mine to taste the Hyderabadi styled Haleem! Okay... Let me compose myself and do this right!
The owner, Ishani, was present there and greeted us being a paragon of hospitality. From telling her witty version of how this place came to be to how the dishes were formulated, the short time spent with her became a memorable one. Her hospitality alone can convince one to run back to this place!
Now let's come to the food...
1. Kappi Fizz - A drink that had a story along with it...how the owner introduced this drink was as intriguing as the drink itself. The drink had strong black coffee infused with Thums Up...a concoction of caffeine indeed that comes with a unique punch! The bitterness and the sweetness complement each other and made for an interesting welcome drink.
2. Haleem - This is unlike the Kolkata styled Haleem that verges on being Dal Gosht. This had a creamy consistency with a certain butteriness to it. With beresta(crisp-fried onions) and chillies, this changed my views about Haleem. The ones usually found in Kolkata restros often has me on a pungent belching roll. This didn't have that effect on me! I would urge everyone to visit this place for the Haleem!
3. Malabar Paratha - This was really soft, fluffy and mildly crispy! Just the perfect thing to go with the Haleem.
4. Pork Vindaloo - This was a bit of a letdown since it was different from the ones I've tried. Every dish here is toned down when it comes to heat and upon asking, the dish is prepared with that extra kick to cater to personal tastes! We went with mild heat but it didn't have the heat we were expecting. However, the pork was really tender and the pork fat was sinful!
5. Jigarthanda - Okay... I asked a ton of questions to the waiter about this who patiently answered all those queries and I did a bit of research after that. I had to understand how this is...this heavenly thing is made. A drink made with thickened milk(thickened with kheer mostly), soaked almond gum that gains a jelly like texture, nannari syrup, chilled milk and jigarthanda ice cream as the main components! This undoubtedly chills the hearts! I'm still reminiscing...ok, one more item to go and then I'll harken back to the Jigarthanda!
6. Fruit Payasam - This was a complimentary dish from the owner, who couldn't have chosen a better way for us to end the meal here. Aptly sweet and of thin consistency, this payas had small chunks of mango cut up in it! It was perfect!
While the quantities were a bit on the lesser side, the taste and the hospitality makes up for it and then some! The place has a personalised feel to it where one can have a great and quiet evening or rather engage in a conversation with the enchanting hostess...Trust me, that's better!
Went for the 'aamlicious' thali festival of coastal Kerala cuisine. The food was simply amazing. Every item had a distinctive taste, perfectly spiced. The lady host was gracious and friendly. Overall a wonderful experience!
Damn good coastal food. Pork Vindaloo and Mutton Kottu Paratha were my fav! Ambience is bright and airy, staff were superb! Price is slightly on the higher side, but you get what you pay for.
The ambience is great!! Super friendly and supportive staff. Tried out their Crispy Karupavalli Chicken which was simply awesome. Only drawback is their list of menus is a bit limited.
This humble place, tucked away inside Rajani Sen Road, is serving some damn good coastal food nowadays. Firstly, they make Haleem throughout the year (on weekdays and on prior order) and it is of the Hyderabadi consistency- not the runny stuff that we're used to in Kolkata. Secondly, the Kuttu Parota is killer. We've tried the Pork Vindaloo. It was good, but I'd have liked it fierier- maybe I'll instruct them for the same, the next time. The Prawn Butter Garlic was good.
But Ishani, the lady running this place, is doing a fabulous job her energy shows in the positive vibe ...
This restaurant is situated in a quiet neighborhood, but is easy to locate. Just walk into the lane opposing the lake gate (not the gate opposite Menoka cinema), turn left onto Rajani Sen road, and you're there.
Goan Chilly Pork: If you're into Chinese chilli porks, this dish is not as spicy as you would expect. Tastes very good, but not great. What bothers you is the quantity. Though these preparations are rare to find in Kolkata, you might not enthusiastically pay ₹300 for that amount.
Chicken Kotthu Paratha: What an absolute gem! I had tried their mutton Kotthu paratha months ago, but the chicken is even better than that. I cannot explain what made this dish so delightful. Was it the conflicting flavour of the sweet lachha paratha and the spicy chicken? Was it the delectable raita that softened everything so much that it would melt in your mouth? (The raita is so freaking good. A curd hater like me ended up licking the spoon.) Or was it the green chilly paste that I had added for a slight spice and tang? Pure beauty in it's taste and filling in it's quantity, this dish is highly recommended.
Surfiré titilated my culinary sensations the first time I had chanced upon it by pure accident, and has done it again. I cannot wait to revisit and try the other preparations. And if you are a foodie, I suggest you do the same too!
Quaint little restaurant tucked away in one of the smaller streets with oodles of flavor, superb service, great coffee, cleanest kitchens, ever-smiling staff... I could go on and on. Do try their appam and they deliver on their promise!
#Surfire - (sir fee re )
A visit to this place was on the cards for quite a long time since the restaurant opened months back. It’s off Southern Avenue in a residential lane, easily accessible and in a quiet locale.
The bright decor of the wall outside is vibrant and inviting and that got elevated by the hug that Ishani gave when she saw me acting like paparazzi.
Two other friends were to come and therefore I took that opportunity to visit the neat and tidy kitchen. The decor is light and modern and perhaps that’s the vibe the restaurant wants to create for itself.
Originally, I had thought of asking her to create a Tasting Menu for me since I would have loved to try everything that was on offer. Today was not that day since I was anyway running behind schedule. I started off with a Filter Coffee and then once the other two came in we ordered the starters.
The #Prawns on sticks, lightly batter fried was excellent. The Prawns were succulent, the coat flavourful and is therefore a ‘must try’. We loved the #Karuvapillai #Chicken. The spices used were perfect and the pepper quotient was just right. It was a semi dry preparation and was a perfect starter.
The Chilly #Pork was cooked well and the meat was pretty succulent and moist. I thought that this perhaps need some work to be done in terms of spice usage other than increasing it’s Scoville index. I would have also kept the capsicum a bit more crunchy and lesser in quantity.
The #Appams were accompaniments to the main course that we ordered. It was served with a mild raita but honestly with some spicy South Indian chutney I would not have required the mains. The batter used was well fermented, the cooking was perfect and I would travel for the Appams they produce.
The #Thattukada #Mutton was very flavourful. The Mutton was well prepared. I just thought it was a tad too sweet for me. It could be due to the brand used or the fresh coconut source but that’s that.
I could not do without the Butter Garlic #Crab. There was an abundance of garlic (my favourite) and one cannot go too wrong with this if your butter quantum is right. The Appams were once again a perfect combo with this. An incremental addition of roasted crushed black peppercorns would perhaps elevate this one, though this is not a complaint. 😀
The semi dry #Chorizo concoction (forget the name) was pretty good and I cleaned it up with relish. The same goes as a filing in a Dosa that they produce, but with Appams it was just right.
I tasted a bit of Jackfruit sweet that she had sourced from the South and would recommend the same for inclusion in the menu.
Next trip to Kolkata, and would perhaps try out the other items on offer!! The afternoon was well spent.
Brilliant food. The owners also offered complimentary cake for their wedding anniversary. Value for money and excellent service and ambience. We had a fish curry and mutton kothu paratha which were brilliant
Decided to go to this place based on the ratings & reviews only..and I wasn't disappointed at all..
The place isn't that big but it had a nice decor & feel..
Appam, Pork vindaloo & Mutton kothu paratha, which was sufficient for 2 person..each & every item was mouth watering..
Special mention of the lady there who was very courteous & helped us with our order..
Definitely coming back here to try out the other options..
An absolutely outstanding dinner at Surfiré The Coastal Café. We started with Mutton Pepper Fry , Goan Chilli Pork and Onion Bajji all of which were excellent. Mains were a brilliant Pork Vindaloo and Thattukada Mutton paired with the best Appam’s I have had in Kolkata. Our dessert was a rather unique Coastal Indian Sweets Platter that comprised of Chakka Varatti- Jackfruit Halwa from Kerala which I tasted for the first time and loved , Guava Cheese from Goa , Tirunavelli Halwa from Tamil Nadu (another first for me) and a superb Mysore Paak from Karnataka which has long been a favorite. #culinarycommentatorrecommends

To most Indians, 'South Indian' food begins at idli and ends in dosa, maybe going till uttapam. A small minority would know dishes beyond these boundaries. But South India, especially the coast, offers a treasure trove of incredible cuisines. Calcutta finally has a restaurant that brings together some of these gems on a plate.
I would be hard pressed to find a favourite dish here but would recommend you definitely try their Chorizo Dosa, Butter Garlic Crab, Mutton Pepper Fry, Veg Moilee and Appams. The dosa is unique with tangy, spicy chorizo that makes the palate tingle. The crab is topped with burnt garlic which lends unbelievable amounts of flavour and I say this as a resident of Bombay which is the city of great crab dishes. The mutton has just the right amount of pepper to make it interesting. The moilee is a velvety liquid with a gorgeous mix of vegetables. Wash your food down with fabulous filter coffee made with a special blend flown in from Chennai.
Unlike other restaurants, food at Surfiré is homestyle which means there is no extra oil or spices. But there is absolutely no compromise on taste. It has become a rule for me to go there every visit.
I guarantee you will return for more.

What a beautiful place!
Located away from the noisy streets is this hidden gem of coastal food. Simplicity defines this place. With no fuss at all, their warm and elegant decor lighten up the ambience.
Right after entering, a sweet and smiling lady (who happens to be the owner, I assume) welcomed us and helped us to the table. One look at the menu, and I was impressed and surprised at the same time! Exquisite dishes from the coastal cuisine of India were in the menu, which aren't easily available in Kolkata.
Spoiled for choices, I was bit confused about ordering and that's when the owner intervened. She suggested the Pork Chorizo Dosa which is a signature dish there. Besides that, I wanted to try something in fish, so went for the 'Fish of the day' from chef's special section.
√Pork Chorizo Dosa - chorizo is a staple in Mexican cuisine, comprising of chopped pork with pork fat highly seasoned with smoked paprika, pimentos and this dish here is a wonderful fusion done to incorporate this chorizo filling inside a Dosa! Innovation at it's best, and surprisingly it tastes really good along with the hearty sambar and coconut chutney.
√Mahabalipuram Fish - It was a whole Bhetki for the fish of the day, coated in a tangy gravy full of south Indian spices. The jumbo fish was perfectly fresh and flaky. It was so huge! Must must try here. For 700 bucks, this was a steal deal.
Badly wanted to try so many other things from their diverse menu, but I was so full that had to keep them for the next visit. Surely will go back soon to explore the plethora of seafood they have to offer.
Well we wanted to have a quick lunch near lake Market area. Since me and my wife are both foodies and we enjoy non veg South Indian cuisine there were only two options in and around that area. When suddenly I remembered a friend of mine had spoken about this newly opened joint. Coming to the point. Had ordered for tawa fish which is basically a whole pomfret fish fried. This dish could have had a little more spice and Masala in it, fish was no doubt very fresh. The starter is the only reason I am giving 4. Because what arrived next was Virat Kohli in his purple patch. For the main course we ordered butter pepper garlic crab and appam. To be very honest I had first had butter pepper garlic crab some 16 yrs back in the famous Mahesh Lunch Home in Juhu. After that have tried the dish in many places across the city. But this one here, nailed it. The crab was fresh and good in size and the gravy had the garlic still crispy. 5 out of 5 dish. The appam was also served hot and fresh. Soft in the middle, slightly crispy at the edge, loved it. A must try for anyone having a tongue for non veg South Indian cuisine. And the host herself was there to attend to us with a lot of warmth. We are surely going back here very soon.
It was a long time since I visited a coastal cuisine restaurant or in this case cafe. And truly it was one of the best ones I have ever had.We tried the Thattukada Mutton which is something you would like to not only try in the restaurant but also ask them to pack for you to take home. With the succulent mutton pieces and the overly delicious gravy this dish ranks the top among their other preparations.Pair it with a paratha which would be the best option than an uppam. The ghee roast chicken was average but authentic and so were the prawn kebabs too.The dessert which was called "Heaven In A Jar" lives upto its name as its contents are brownie with caramel and chocolate shots in a jar where all the chocolate is imported and prepared by a private confectioner.Hope to try more delicacies the next time with the Thattukada Mutton being the foremost of them all.
Not much places in Kolkata serves authetic Coastal food.
Surfire is very pretty & vibrant cafe near the Mudiali club pujo and we dropped by for a nice lunch. The food here is served in a typically unique manner on wooden plates.
We tried their Tandoored pomfret,Lemon cooler,Karuvapillai crispy chicken, mutton ghee roast with steamed rice & appam.
The lemon cooler was very refreshing.
Tandoored pompfret was a simple but tasty dish. Also, loved the crispy karuvapillai chicken which was spicy, fresh and good.
The mutton gher roasted tasted amazing with steamed rice or appam.Loved the richness of coastal spices and aroma of ghee in it.
Pocket pinch for two- 1000/- for a good meal.
The ambience, food & service all are commendable.
This place is worth giving a try.
I had been planning to visit this place for a while but something or the other came up. The other day we finally managed a visit and we're not disappointed. The prawns on a stick was fresh and delicious. We ordered the garlic butter crab and the pork vindaloo both of which were just perfect. (I must mention that finally I have found a place that makes authentic vindaloo, not the usual too spicy and oily type.) These were accompanied by Malabar parathas and appam. The service was good. Both Ishani and Mukund were there to add their personal touches. And the chocolate desert jar was just sinfully scrumptious!
Came across this outlet in the bylanes of Mudiali and opposite to an address of legendary proportions in Bengali Literature (Mr Prodosh Mitter? 😀)
It has a spacious and well lit decor, tastefully done.
The menu features majorly Coastal Delights and more so South Indian Non Vegetarian food, which I absolutely love!
Had ordered the following from their limited Puja Special menu:
The Masala Dosa - liked by my wife and son
The Chicken Dosa - thumbs up from my side, especially for the Chicken Ghee Roast filling
The Sambhar & Chutney - pretty different from the commercial stuff available in the market. Has a much homely feel to it. Reminiscent of the stuff I had at Bangalore, at my colleague's house.
Had carried back the Pork Vindaloo, which proved to be the pick of the lot! Balanced portions of fat and lean meat, a piquant gravy brimming with the flavours of the lard, tanginess of the vinegar, hint of sweetness (was it the jaggery?) and the hotness of the spices with strong garlic notes. And the colour of the gravy! Made my evening! Washed this down with some Cabernet Sauvignon.
Glad to have found a place in Kolkata which serves a classic Vindaloo.
I will be back soon for their other dishes.
Love the ambience. Nice place. Specially i would like to mention the owner's name, #ishani di was very humble and a very down to earth person.
Now coming to food. I went there on nabami night. Instead of puja pressure they were maintaining their quality.
There i had
1. Pork Chorizo Dhosa - pork sausage in pizza. Unbelievable. 5/5
2. Pork Kothu Partha - this was huge. A single portion is huge enough for two, but for taste i can give them - 5/5
3. Kaapi fizz - this is a mixture of thumbs up and black coffee, first time I had tried this and when I will go 2nd time I'll definitely try this again - 5/5
4. Butter Pepper Garlic Crab - this was bit costly compare to their other dishes. But if you consider the taste, you will definitely give 600 for this. - 5/5
5. Rawa Keshri - i didn't liked it that much. 4/5
6. Chocolate Brownie - loved it 5/5
Next time I'll definitely try anupam Roy's favorite masala idly and abir's favorite pork vindaloo
Dropped in today here for lunch. This place is really subtle in its decor and gives you a perfect ambience. The staffs need a special mention as I was overwhelmed by their gesture and good behaviour. Now coming to food, they had a set menu for pujo.We tried out Chicken Ghee Roast along with paratha. The chicken was very nicely cooked and the quantity was sufficient for 2. Parathas were non greasy and very soft. Hugely impressed with the food and staffs.

I was eyeing this place for quite sometime now and when I finally got an opportunity to drop in last week - it was a foodgasmic experience for sure..
Basic interiors - nothing mindblowing about it as such but it still attracts your attention bcz it gives you a homely vibe the moment you step in..
However, what is mindblowing about this place and rightly so is the food - this is not your usual South Indian fare of Idlis & Dosas but it is authentic South Indian delicacies with a difference sourced from the kitchens of Madurai & Mangalore alongwith other places & combine that with authentic Goan cuisine as well - this cafe suddenly has serious foodporn written all over it .
#KaapiFizz is your usual South Indian coffee but with a thumbs up base..
#JigarThanda is one of their biggest attractions for sure - a must have drink out here having it's origin at Madurai - it's a super thick (you actually need a spoon rather than a straw to finish it) milk based drink with homemade ice cream and some other special ingredients - it is super delicious and does justice to the name completely - "peene se jigaar ko thandak zaroor milta hain😀" and it's pretty filling too..
#PORKCHORIZODOSA: Now, that's what I call true innovation - who would have thought that one can feast on delicious & spicy chorizos wrapped in a dosa - Woohoo - suddenly, for a carnivore like me - Masala Dosas simply cease to exist anymore after tasting this revelation of a delicacy.. Guess what, even the condiments served with the same oozes authenticity from every angle - I can vouch for the fact that you will not get a better coconut chutney and a Sambar anywhere in Kolkata than what's been served here - it is at a completely different level - can't be described in mere words - you need to taste it to understand the real essence of the same..
#BrowniewithIcecream - The homemade Brownie was as soft & chocolatey as it could ever be - became an instant fan of the same once I took the first bite laced with icecream - a perfect end to a mindblowing meal indeed..
Can't wait to be back again soon to try out the rest of the fare..
If you haven't been there already - you must visit it soon bcz trust me you are going to fall in love with the place from your first visit itself..
Thanks a ton for your gracious hospitality dear Ishani di - it was an absolute pleasure to meet and gel so well with an amazing person like you - kudos to you and your whole team for gifting Kolkata such a mindblowing food joint serving such wonderful yet authentic delicacies..

By the way, have you joined Kolkata Food Trotters on Facebook yet??
Quaint little restaurant tucked away from Rash Behari Avenue, decor is very basic and minimal but the food here is quite authentic and tingles the taste buds. Place is new so has so stand the test of time to deliver the same quality consistently.
Beautiful homely decor. Neat and cosy ambience. Very polite staff and enthusiastic and friendly hostess
We ordered a mutton and a pork dish. The pork was bland and could be spiced up if we wanted but the meat could be more flavorful. Coming to the mutton pepper fry... It was juicy tender and amazingly tasty. I was very impressed. In the sides we had taken parota which was rightly flaky soft inside and crisp outside. And the star of the place was the appam. I have never had such perfect appam in kolkata ever. The centre thick and the sides thin crusty and crisp
Overall impressive and surely recommended
The pocket pinch of the mains are 300 each and the sides a 50 only
This is a brightly lighted place with a happy ambience...
We ordered:
●Kappi Fizz:
This was a strongly caffeinated drink with black coffee and ThumsUp.
●Crispy Karuvipillai Baby corn:
It was so nice to have something other than crispy chilli baby corn or schezwan baby corn. Amazing dry sauce made with curry leaves, and coconut milk. Had the right amount of coastal spice.
●Veg Moilee with Appam:
Sadly, the waiter didn't take our order correctly. He heard babycorn as chicken which we corrected soon and Vegetable Kurma as Moilee which we realised later. This preparation was good in the light coconut milk broth.. but we realised the mistake in the order after we got the bill.
Apart from this flaw in the service, we loved the place and would like to go in again.

Surfire made the last weekend lunch really special for us. So glad that my Zomato search led us to this hidden gem, both the restaurant as well as Ishani the owner who is a lovely heart and a warm individual.
Jigarthanda is what I started with while wifey decided to keep it light with a Lemon cooler. The Jigarthanda tasted very different, very rich but very heavy. Its almost a full meal than a mocktail...but tastes realllly yum....
For main course we ordered Butter garlic crabs with Appam and Thatakkada mutton with Malabar paratha. The crabs were a real treat.... the garlic and butter blend created a really compelling aroma that made me, very iffy with crabs, risk it all with the molars cracking into the claws :) Compelling I said, remember :)
The Thatakadda mutton was very tasty as well, however I would have probably liked it a bit more spicy. I should have asked for it, but didn't,my mistake! But the flavours of the spice and the well toned adjustments to make curry leaves appeal to a Bengali tongue is commendable indeed.
Ishani treated us to a yummy cake, which was complimentary from her side as she had run out of Brownie which we had asked for. Belated Anniversary wishes Ishani !!!
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our day out. Planning our next one already....
Great food, good ambience and a very honest attempt by the owner to regale her audience's gastronomic aspirations. Good going ... all the best!
A super cosy colourful place to uplift your mood, food was amazing the butter garlic crab and parothas to die for!! A personal touch from the owners Ishani and Mukund made it even better
It is a very well run place , with fantastic variety and great service , their quality of service is phenomenal and have raised the benchmark in the industry
The new Coastal Cuisine themed cafe in the city, Ishani and Mukund , the entrepreneur couple has cooked up and excellent venture in the same road where "Feluda" used to live, Rajani Sen Road near Rabindra Sarobar. The yellow vibrant decor will lighten up your mood as soon as you step in. There are about 8 tables which can accommodate small to medium groups as well. Coming to food, while I was having a chat with the super hospitable Ms Ishani. She told me that she procrures the spices mostly from South India only to get that authentic flavour in their dishes. I will start my review for the food by saying please try their filter coffee. Ask the waiter for how strong you like your coffee to be and they will make it according to your preference. By far the best filter coffee i had in Kolkata. Potato Tornadoes are another nice take on the Potato Twisters with a hint of cheese , though I would have preferred a little more cheese on my Potatoes. For main course I had Malabar Paratha, crunchy, flaky, fluffy and for side dish, Chicken Pepper Fry was a bomb! The heat of the coarse black pepper amalgamates perfectly with chunks of chicken in a reddish dry gravy.
P.S. They organize karaoke nights on Wednesdays.
Edit : They made sure to bowl me out on my 2nd visit. Fish Mahabalipuram Masala. What an out of the world fish recipe that was!! And when you drop by, do ask Lipika, their ever smiling waitress for her special brew of coffee. 5 star experience! Cheers!
Though this place has opened its doors only recently, it was recommended by @Shruti Chaudhuri and we weren't disappointed. Its located deep inside Mudially and someone who is not familiar with the topography, will have to depend heavily on Google map to locate the place. However its indeed worth taking the search. It has a small but bright interior and we were warmly greeted as we stepped in. We had a cup of "Jigarthanda" to start with, followed by "Prawn Chettinad with Appam" and "Thattukada Mutton with Paratha". The food was fantastic. We could compare it quite favorably with similar dishes we had down under in Chennai. Ms Ishani, the owner of the place, was personally supervising everything, and from time to time her interactions with us made eating more enjoyable. I hope in future, they will also add "Panakam" and "Thanjavur Kair Katti Gola" to their menu. We wish 'Surfire' all the best.
Seldom does one get a chance to recommend something from the heart. My first experience at this new eatery was a light late lunch. Firstly the menu is not your usual coastal affair. It’s much more interesting. It’s short and that’s precisely why the cooking stands out. For all those who like Butter Garlic Crab, this one should be in your list for your next eat out. They are perfectly cooked. Reminded me of Porto Rio (Calcutta in the early 90’s) and ofcourse Trishna (Colaba). I tried their Goan Pork Chilly. Immediatly ordered a plate for takeaway. It’s simple and tasty. Their Appam is a low key delight. Try the Crab with Appam. Can’t wait to be back to try the Chorizo Dosa and the Pork Vindaloo. Such joints make this city worth living in. The owners experience in the culinary field is evident from the overall ambience. See, I am a huge fan of ‘low key’. The best kitchens in the world are low key...where the cooks ‘do their thing’. Same goes with music. There should not be a hoolah about it all. A customer should try and understand the food and have some patience. Surfire’s service (order to kichen to the table) is snappy. This is what I meant when I wrote of the owners experience. The place has a good vibe where you can sit and eat for a long time. Another important fact which this little jewel of the south reinstates is that coastal cuisine is not sea food or fish. There is a lot more happening on that front. While you are sure to find your Prawn Chettinad, Tawa Fish, in the menu, try and dig deep into the coastal towns in India and you’ll discover a lot more than Fish curries.
Excellent food and great service. I would love to visit Surfire again and again as they serve a complete new cuisine which is very new in the town. If you wanna taste authentic coastal food step into Surfire. Cherry on the cake is the live music on Wednesdays.
Ambience is so pleasant. Crab and mutton are very tasty. Enjoyed non greasy paratha and Appam. Salty caramel cake was just wow! Hostesses special care for nitty gritty adds up to the experience of fine dining. As I entered the restaurant it started pouring and through the glass windows I could enjoy the rain while sipping to my filter coffee. The waiters served fresh plates afer we finished off with starters. Washroom of this place gives you an refreshing experience .My overall experience was quite enjoyable.
The only place that gets the pork vindaloo right and how. Another must try and sure winner is their chorizo dosa. I'm sure they'll be adding to their menu. Big thumbs up and definitely recommended.

The City of Joy, The Gastronomic Capital of India, is famed for its assortment of food. The city’s myriad delectable treats will overindulge any foodie with its colossal choices. To tantalize the taste buds of Kolkatans, there has been a brand new revelation with overfull choices. SurFiré-The Coastal Café, located at 24, Rajani Sen Road is the new crush of Kolkata that brings alive the culinary legacy of secret recipes from the homes of Coastal India. When Surf (Sea) and Fire (Spice) meets, the result is “SurFiré” (pronounced Sarfirey)!! This new Coastal Food joint SurFiré- The Coastal Café is bound to drive Kolkata foodies “Crazyyy”!! To treat the taste buds of Kolkata with authentic coastal food from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and
Goa, this 1500 sq ft eatery is emerging as a cosy hangout zone for gastronomes of all age groups.
Visited them recently for a lunch session and was blown away by the taste of the preparations they serve at this eaterie!
Starting off with the ambiance which is kept minimal on the simpler side with a soothing touch of calmness which adds an energetic vibe to the place. With wooden decor & plush furnitures placed strategically, Surfirè has a seperate area for live performances as well as the giant projector screen as well. The food items in the menu here reflects and celebrates various influences that have shaped the gastronomic heritage of the land over generations. The opulent and varied preparations with highly aromatic flavours of the food are so alluring that it will surely leave you yearning for more!
We started of with two signature beverages of theirs which the humble owners Ishani ma'am and Mukund sir explained to us. The concept being so impressive will make one definitely crave for the drinks immediately!
• Sharjah : A frozen milk and banana milkshake from Kerala with added secret ingredients left us in wonders! The charm that this drink possessed was something drool-worthy. Though it looked simple from the outside, a sip at it will definitely make you crave for it more & more! Loved the chilled yet soulful taste of it.
• Jigarthanda : Being a Madurai specialty, this one has milk, nannari sharbat, ice cream and added special ingredients. A bit on the sweeter side, Jigarthanda was a refreshing drink altogether with healthy protein energizers incorporated in it. The curation was done perfectly to give it an amazing flavour.
• Filter Coffee : It is basically made by mixing frothed and boiled milk with the decoction obtained by brewing finely ground coffee powder in a traditional Indian filter. The aroma and flavour of the caffeine was very strong.
From their dosa segment, we opted for :
• Chorizo Dosa : A SurFiré exclusive, Goan sausage stuffed Dosa. Yes you heard that right. For the first time in India, this dish was a total hit. The smoked pork inside the Dosa was surely melt in the mouth quality and it was delightful. Paired with chutney and sambar, this is definitely going to leave a serious impact on all pork lovers out there! Had it with great delish.
Keeping a small yet compact menu is what Surfirè has done which I totally support! So, from the mains, it was easy for us to choose the signatures within a few minutes.
• Butter Garlic Crab : Being a seafood lover, the Butter Garlic Crab (Crab drowned in butter & crispy garlic) left me awestruck! The meat was soft and fleshy from inside on one hand while the shell was easy to break on the other which adds extra points to this amazing dish!
• Thattukada Mutton : The mutton that is cooked as in the roadside shops of South India is what they presented. This authentic dish was the showstopper of the day for sure. Succulent meat with a flavourful, yummy thick gravy with porota (Indian bread) was an absolute delight. The mutton was fleshy, soft and tasty.
• Prawn Chettinad : A dish from Tamil nadu, prawns in a peppery chettinad gravy tasted decent with Uppam. The prawn was fresh and therefore tasted awesome! The gravy could've been a bit more thick, I felt but maybe they have kept it that way to maintain the authenticity of this regal dish.
• Vegetable Moilee : Basically vegetables in thin coconut gravy served with Uppam was a treat to the tongue. It was surely a healthy option to go for! It tasted decent as well.
We also tried one of their Rice dishes which are priced at ₹100!
• Lemon Rice: This dish originates from Tamil Nadu basically. Lemon rice is tangy
but with the accompaniments it's flavour was well balanced giving the staple a delicious taste.
Well, the overall experience at this 32 seater joint was a wonderful one! Every dish had it's own uniqueness & concept! The quality of the ingredients they used was pretty good and quantity wise it was appropriate as well. Pricing is kept mediocre which I guess is perfectly fine for the dishes that we tried out. The service is swift & the staffs are courteous as well. With every element being on point, I'll surely recommend this place in town which I'm sure will surely bloom soon and satisfy the Calcuttans.

To tantalize the taste buds of Kolkatans, a new brand has come up to serve us with some coastal delicacies. Generally by coastal food or south indian food we think of the generic Dosa, Idli, Vada, Uttapam etc. After visiting this place, my whole idea changed.
As soon as you enter the café, you'll see the wall graffiti at the entrance. They have kept wooden interiors with a very simple and minimalistic decor. Very neat and spacious, with light music and lip smacking food. I'm really fond of places having good ambience but this place has some really innovative food you'll fall in love with. The food here reflects and celebrates various influences that have shaped the gastronomic heritage of the land over generations.
On my visit the masterminds of this newbie, Ishani Ma'am and Mukund Sir explained about their idea about this restaurant and offered me some signature dishes. The menu is a compact one, but whatever they are offering will win your heart for sure.
So starting off with the Beverages :
The first pick was the Filter Coffee. Sounds very basic but commendable. I'm not a coffee person though but I loved it. Just a perfect cup of refreshment it was.
Moving on to some cold beverages,
• Sharjah- A very common shake found in Kerala made with frozen milk and banana. A lot of places spoil the shakes by putting too much of ice or by making the shake too thin. The consistency of the shake here was good and it had a very balanced taste.
•Jigarthanda- Originating from the state of Tamil Nadu, this is something you have to try here. I bet you won't get this anywhere. You'll get the taste of kheer infused with ice cream. Sweet and heavenly.
•Kaapi Fizz- Innivation made by mixing coffee with Soft drinks. Very impressive I must say.
Coming to the appetizers and main course items,
•Masala Idli is another innovation of Surfiré. This is the first time i tried out fried, crispy idli. It's amazing.
•In Butter Garlic Crab I loved the smoky flavour that was coming from the burnt garlic and butter. This is a main course item and was served with Appam. The fluffy texture of the appam stole my heart. They have it in prawn too. I will come back to try that.
•Chorizo Dosa- Chorizo is sausages and to give an indian touch to the spanish originated Chorizo, they have added pork sausage filling to Dosas instead of the basic masala filling. The fusion they have made is a big hit.
•Prawn Chettinad- If you are well off with the south indian cuisine then you must have heard a lot about this Tamil Nadu originated dish. Chettinad is spicy generally but Surfiré has not made it too hot keeping in mind the tastebuds of everyone. When it comes to taste, yes it was good. It was served with Porota.
•Thattukada Mutton with Porota is my favourite already. From the kitchen of Kerala, this is a dish packed with flavours. Yellowish gravy, not too spicy, has coconut and soft tender mutton pieces well marinated and cooked. Served with porota. Highly recommending this.
•Vegetable Moilee with Lemon Rice is a very good option for the vegetarian lovers.
Along with good food and a great ambience, SurFiré-The Coastal Café has Songwriter Nights once a week. This 32 seater restaurant remains open from 11am to 11pm and has a quirky menu. You will find Appams, Porotas, Idlis, Dosas, but with some unexpected twists to surprise and delight. Those looking for authentic coastal food will
be delighted by the Pork Vindaloo, Chicken Ghee Roast, Tawa Fish Fry. Fish lovers should ask for the “Catch of the Day” in which whole fish is cooked in a secret recipe from
the beaches of Mahabalipuram.
I really had an amazing experience. Will be coming back soon to try out the other delicacies from their menu.
The city has always loved coastal cuisine.Be that Ghee roast or pork Vindaloo we all love coastal food and to our delight the city has its newest addition “Surfire” ~ The Coastal Cafe.
Promising to bring some great recipes from kitchens of the coastal region,Surfire has a great variety of dishes to choose from.
The food here reflects and celebrates various influences that have shaped the gastronomic heritage of the land over generations. The opulent and varied preparations with highly aromatic flavours of the food are so alluring that it will surely leave you yearning for more! When Surf (Sea) and Fire (Spice) meets, the result is “SurFiré” (pronounced Sarfirey)!! This new Coastal Food joint SurFiré- The Coastal Café is bound to drive Kolkata foodies “Crazyyy”!!
The ambience of this place is extremely cosy and the vibrant colors gives a very positive feeling.
We started of with two very innovative drinks which are a must try if you are here:
Sharjah : A frozen milk and banana milkshake from Kerala with added secret ingredients.
Jigarthanda : A Madurai specialty. It has milk, nannari sharbat, ice cream and added special ingredients.
Next came something we never tried before the Chorizo Dosa : A SurFiré exclusive, Goan sausage stuffed Dosa, a first in India.
We also tried the Butter Garlic Crab :Just crab, drowned in butter and crispy garlic.,Thattukada Mutton : Mutton cooked as in the roadside shops of South India.,Prawn Chettinad : A dish from Tamil nadu, Prawns in a peppery Chettinad gravy and Vegetable Moilee : A dish from Kerala, vegetables in thin coconut gravy.
For accompaniments we had the Lemon Rice: From Tamil Nadu, lemon rice is tangy to taste and the very special and loved Appams.
The food at Surfire is light simple yet the perfect amalgamation of coastal flavours.
Also if you are here dont forget to try their filter coffee.

Bloggers meet at Surfiré The Coastal Café
Welcome to the coastal cafe to indulge your buds with the southern flavours - a 32 seater eatery located near Mudiali Club and Menoka Cinema, Southern Avenue.
The cafe has launched a new dining concept that brings all the unique culinary techniques packed with a mouthful of flavours collected from the best of South Indian Veg and Non-Veg cuisines across the states.
The cafe not only restricted its menu as a decent quick stop for basic South Indian dishes - vada sambar but moves few steps further by presenting the curries and hearty shakes that is definitely going to floor every guest visiting the cafe. The cafe has established the mission to take food trip around the regions of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa with its recipes flowing from the kitchens curved by the ‘mothers’ over generations.
Coming to the decor -
The entrance of the cafe sprawls to L-shaped dining area with pale yellow colour tones on the walls and high ceilings are not the only eye soothing, but gives a spacious look and feel to the decor. The glossy finishes on the wooden accessories add the right touch to red matte finish contrast tones of the dining table decoratives, the little condiment pots with Southern influence and the fine dining style cutlery which makes the cafe ambience more inviting and warm to the guests, thus giving a homely feel.
The vibrant colours of wall art prints on the high pillars, abstract in nature breaks the monotonous look of the yellow effect all around.
A section of the dining area on the right of its entrance is staged for live musical performance. The cafe is housed with a wall projector screen to project recorded events to the diners.
Ishani Priyadarshini and Mukund Balachandran - the masterminds behind the design have brilliantly presented her gastronomic skills to treat the palate with flavours of different lands - an outcome of her longtime hard work and research. They have established a great example to tantalise the buds of Kolkata Coffee ☕️ Fanatics by setting up South Indian Filter Coffee Maker - the frothy texture and the strong, rich aroma of the freshly brewed ground coffee ☕️ touched my soul. Definitely going to boost your morning dose of energy.
Coming to food served -
DRINKS:
Sharjah: Kerala special King Of Milkshakes. A frozen milk with peanuts and banana milkshake, Horlicks, coffee powder with added secret ingredients.
Jigarthanda: Jigar means ‘heart’ and thanda means ‘cold’. In other words, it’s considered soothing to heart. A Madurai speciality summer street side. Comes with milk, nannari sharbat (sarsaparilla root extract) with strong badam flavour, a dollop of ice cream and added special ingredients. The palate felt somewhere between the milkshake and falooda. The complex rich flavours of each ingredient finely percolated through the buds.
Kaapi Fizz - High-quality beverage for espresso lovers if you would like to experiment your Freshly brewed filter black coffee with cola. An interesting blend - the fizzy texture with the delicate taste will definitely drive you crazy.
In few words, just blown away with the uniqueness in terms of taste of all the above Drinks and Shakes. MUST MUST TRY.
STARTER :
Masala Idli - crispy from outside and moist inside. Pieces of mildly spiced idlis tossed in curry leaves and mustard. A quick snack to pair with a filter coffee.
DOSA :
Chorizo Dosa: A SurFiré exclusive, Goan sausage stuffed Dosa, a first in India. A very innovative fusion of South Indian dosa and Spanish Chorizo - smoked sausage seasoned with smoked paprika. Brilliantly crispy on the edges always a winner on the menu.
MAIN COURSE:
Butter Garlic Crab - Just crab, drowned in butter and crispy garlic. Will make you drool. The taste has been recreated to restrict only to warm spicy burnt garlic and butter tossed with steamed crabs 🦀.
Thattukada Mutton: Mutton cooked as in the roadside shops of South India. In other words, Kerela’s version of the Streetside food. Spicy 🌶 succulent pieces of mutton served in a pale yellow curry 🍛 with roasted coconuts 🥥 and secret spices.
Prawn Chettinad: A dish from Tamil Nadu, Prawns in a peppery Chettinad gravy - an awesome seafood delicacy that makes mouth-watery to every prawn 🍤 lovers. The aromatic Chettinad masala was done to its perfection to envelop the roasted shrimps.
Vegetable Moilee: A traditional dish from Kerala, vegetables in thin creamy pale yellow coconut gravy. Leaves a lingering taste in the mouth.
All the above Main Courses are served with tasty lacy soft thin pancake (Appam), Rice or flaky Parota.
Lemon Rice: A comfort summer food from Tamil Nadu, is always refreshing and tangy to taste. A great way to enhance a plain rice with lemon, urad lentils, curry leaves - a perfect accompaniment to southern style curries.
All the dishes are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Thanks a lot, Ishani Priyadarshini and Mukund Balachandran for your gracious hospitality.
Please extend my thanks to your team for their warm service.

A warm invitation from Ishani Priyadarshini and Mukund Balachandran on Saturday evening over a dinner with a delicious run down of hearty coastal meal.
The rockstars of the evening -
Pulpy Orange Cooler -
A very refreshing beverage to satiate the buds.
Kerala style Mutton Pepper Fry -
Smoky tangy flavour is just fabulous.
Goan Chilli Pork -
Tangy spicy as always tasty tossed with green bell peppers along with the little oil that settles at the bottom.
Puttu with Butter Garlic Crab -
This one dish is always the show stopper. But pairing this with Puttu (steamed cylinders of rice cake enveloped in grated coconut) - the breakfast delight of Kerala is just a heavenly combination. Buttery garlic flavour of the crab is perfectly jazzed up giving a tasty twist to this culinary heritage from Kerala - Puttu.@Ishani's culinary invention just rocks.
Finally, to satisfy the sweet tooth cravings
Crisp thin outer layer with the soft dense muddy brownie inside served with scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream.
Really touched by the incredible warmth of your hospitality Ishani and Mukund and of course your great food that I always die for.
Thanks, Amit and Monglee for your prompt service.
Located inside the bylanes of Southern Avenue this place is a hidden gem. The café has opened its gate to public last month. The décor is very simple yet very soothing. The café serves Goan, Keralian and Tamil cuisines with a little twist.
Coming to the food, we had:
1)Jigarthanda: Jigarthanda is a cold beverage that originated in the South Indian city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The basic ingredients include milk, almond gum, sarsaparilla root syrup, sugar and ice-cream. Do give it a try if you are visiting this place.
2)Kaapi Fizz: This is an exclusive drink made at Surfire.Black coffee with lots of ice makes this drink really special.
3)Crispy Karuvapillai Chicken: it is a special chicken fry made with ground curry leaves masala, a popular Chettinad pick. The chicken pieces were crispy, yet tender.
4)Tawa Fish Fry: Tawa Fish Fry is another lovely item they serve. The fish was fresh and marinated really well.
This place is really worth visiting.
Never miss visiting SurFire if you want great food, good service and spotless clean and hygienic ambience in a restaurant. My favourite Appam and Tatukadda Mutton.
The place is very easy to locate. One can parking at the roadside by the store. The entire place is very neat and tidy. The behaviour of the staff are equally good. The food i tried are something unique than other mainstream Kolkata dishes. Also, the price is reasonable. I will definitely recommend it.
The hotel provided a pleasant stay with comfortable rooms and excellent service. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the amenities were top-notch. The location was convenient, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. Overall, a great experience worth recommending.
Surfire offers a whole new look into the cuisine of Southern India.!
The gentle breeze swaying past your face, the oceans stretching far away to the horizon, the tall trees and coconuts hanging up, the beckoning of coastal food hitting straight into your nostrils, there is something unusually attractive and surprising when we think of dishes outside the usual realm of Dosas and Idlis, the food down South has a lot more complexities and intricacy we usually dream of.
Surfire, one such name which has been popularising the cuisine of South Indian food, by picking up the favourites from every region and ultimately assembling them to provide the best of the dishes they could offer. Goan Chilli Chicken, one such recipe which is so much similar to the traditional Chilli Chicken we have, but yet has its own unique differentiators due to the difference in spices and it's proportion.
The Potato Tornadoes, a somewhat fusion and a popular innovative starter, is perfect for someone who loves the creamier potatoes with a layer of melted cheese on top. Appam, Chicken Chilli Cheese Appam and Ham Chilli Cheese Appam for maincourse, we paired this with Kosha Mangsho, a special dish curated and to be available this Durga Puja, the Malabar Porota surprisingly fared well and made us have a glimpse of the quintessential Paratha - Kosha Mangsho combination.
Fruit Payasam and Rava Kesari for desserts, flush all the food down with a sip of Kokum cooler or Filter Coffee for that refreshing aftertaste. A meal here will touch your heart and caress your soul and offers the perfect excuse for one to drop down, to try something different than their usual regular dal bhaat.

I stayed outside kolkata for many years and developed a palate for coastal food.I was actually craving for an outlet like this in my home city.
The menu rises well above the stereotypical idli, dosa and sambhar and offers a unique array of costal delicacies that you will find nowhere else in kolkata.
I must say the thalassiery mutton biryani they serve is undoubtedly the most unique, flavourful and addictive biryani you will find in kolkata apart from the classic kolkata mutton biriyani.
One of the unique things that you will find here is that the owner herself is actively involved in the cooking process and the staff here are knowledgeable enough to guide you about their offerings.
This place deserves love and appreciation..!!
Have always been fascinated with Coastal cuisine and this restaurant is a wonderful option for the foodies out there who wants to try something different .
Ambience is classy . service is fast . staff behaviour is wonderful . Food is delicious.
We ordered the following :
1. Goan chilli pork ( 4 / 5 ) : Great option for starter .
2. Crab Butter Garlic Sauce ( 3.5 / 5 ) : Good quality but I would prefer the crab ghee roast over this one . Butter garlic doesn’t suit compliment crab meat .
3. Thallasery chicken Biryani ( 4.5 / 5 ) : Loved it. Much recommended .
4. Fish in Mahabalipuram masala ( 4 / 5 ) : great option for fish . We took pomfret . Fish was very fresh .
5. Saffron yoghurt ( 5 / 5 ) : Simply blown away .
Please show some love to this place . This restaurant deserves more attention .
Authentic Malayali food. The servers were genuine and will guide you with your order. Ambience is very basic but hygiene and sanitation is maintained. The restaurant was completely empty on Saturday night. Although, there were a lot of parcel orders. The location is inside a colony and not well advertised
Nice place.... It is near the ravindra sarovar lake. The staff here were very friendly. They offered us complimentary chips by the time we ordered. We had rice with the Kerala chicken curry, a lemonade and bhapa doi for desert. The desert was were smooth, a must try and overall the food was decent.
After a long time had a very relaxed, refreshing & taste bud satisfactory experience

•Kerala Style Chicken Drumsticks was served with a side salad & the drumstick was perfectluy fried & spicy. The outer layer was crispy & the chicken was super juicy & tender.
•Malabar Porota & Mutton Kosha is a limited edition just for Pujo. The malabar porota was super soft and it went perfectly well with the mutton kosha, the mutton had the perfect balance of spices & the mutton was well cooked.
•Ham Chilli Cheese Appam is a twist from the traditional appam but this new twist was amazing to taste and is a muat try. It is served was a chilli dip.
My overall experience was just amazing. I cant't wait to visit SurFire again.
I really love the cozy vibe of Surfire. Have had a couple of meals here and I must say that the mutton Pepper fry and the Kapi fizz are absolutely brilliant.

Both tasted very nice and I really love teh food.
The staff is very warm too.
Learnt about this place from a friend's facebook post and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located in a quaint residential neighbourhood in Mudiali (Rajani Sen Road). The owner Ishani is a very warm and friendly host and would go the extra mile to ensure that your gastronomical adventure turns out to be an enjoyable one. Kothu Paratha is a signature dish there apart from Vindaloo and other malabar specialities. Very spacious and siry decor and prices are fairly reasonable. Give it a try.
Good place. Lovely staff. The choices of dishes are great and covers a lot of south indian cousines. Loved it.
This one is a hidden gem near Rabindra sarabor .❤️. Yesterday fortunately I had visited there...I have ordered regular chicken biriyani..
Such a friendly place! Excellent food. Would give 7 stars for service. We go in very large groups. The service is impeccable. Recommend the appam and the mutton haleem. Their filter coffee is to die for.
Great place with a wide range of options. If you are looking for authentic south Indian food in Kolkata, this place can be your bait.oh yes, the Haleem is AWESOME!!
