They served Chinese tea in cute little china cutlery. Loved the ambience. Food was tasty. Hospitable people.
Best Chinese/Asian cuisine....Deserts are amazing...Overall an WOW experience
Really lovely ambience and great food, though I thought that the prices were a tad bit on the higher side. The service was impeccable and the staff were well behaved.
Fantastic food with great ambience. Personal suggest Mongolian Chicken, Chinese Chopsuey , Hakien Noodles and Dragon Fry prawn. People there are very friendly and suggest you best dishes.
The place is nice, it's quite..
The quality and quantity of the food is overwhelming.
I liked the staff, they where polite.
As it being one of my fav Chinese restaurant to go too now.
An amazing restaurant. Very calm ambiance and courteous staff. We had - chicken wanton soup, chicken sanghai fried rice & fish in Tausi, darshan with ice cream.
This authentic Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant is situated in a heritage building having a Chinese Church in the old China Town.
The ambience, service and food in one simple word is just awesome.
Here is what we had:
1. Chicken wrapped prawn
2. Vietnamese Rice paper Chicken rolls
3. Nasi Go Reng rice
4. Mongolian Chicken
5. Darsan with Ice cream
Pocket pinch: INR 1410
Hidden gem. Wonderful ambience and very clean. Food was very good, especially the soups - wanton soup and lemon grass chicken soup. Would love to visit again.
This place is a must try for all Chinese lovers in kolkata. A true hidden gem. Not known to many. Serves some amazing food at very affordable prices. Clean and well maintained. Very traditional and authentic Chinese food. Also it is a heritage building so even that adds to the whole charm of it. This is a must try place.
Located in the vicinity of Tirretibazar and Central metro station (Gate No. 5), this place is an absolute delight to any foodie. Both the proportion and price of food are satisfactory. All the items consisting of Peking soup, Mixed Vietnamese Roll, Mixed Meifoon, Oriental chicken drums of heaven, Hum Choy fish were delicious. Staff were courteous. Highly recommended for spending quality time with family and friends.
Let me clarify at the outset, the reason for giving a 4 out of 5 is that I have only tried two appetizers here. I am sure once I get to have a full course meal, it would scream for a 5 on 5. Yes, its good. I had heard about it and heard decent stuff. Visiting has only proved them to be right. The decor is nice, its spacious, service is quick, portions are good. I only tried the Oriental Mushroom Chilli and the Thread Chicken. Both of them were wonderful, well seasoned, flavoured perfectly and the chicken seemed fresh. That is a big thumbs up for me. The place is a bit difficult to find, but its worth seeking out.
Second visit review: So I had the chance to try out several other dishes. The Vietnamese rice paper rolls were a bit sweet for my liking. The presentation was excellent by the way. Every other thing, the Lat Mai Kai, the soups, the chilli garlic and burnt garlic noodles, the schezwan prawn were all fantastic. Finally, have to mention the fried ice cream. It was an apt closing to a good meal
This is the second highest rated Chinese restaurant in the BBD Bagh area after Tung Nam.
After finding Tung Nam closed(it remains closed on Tuesdays), I decided to give Sei Vui a shot.Unlike Tung Nam and D'ley this looked like a posh restaurant. The prices of some items are higher than the competition. The outside of the building too has a Chinese feel to it as it is owned and maintained by Chinese people.
I was feeling feverish and thus ordered a lung fung soup. The name of the soup is actually disgusting so I had googled it before. It contains mushrooms, egg, chicken. As there was nothing preposterous, I ordered it( a small and irrelevant side note:-Kaptai Soup contains innards of pigs).
The soup came hot and thick. It was loaded with chicken and eggs but bland. You have to add the sauces placed on your table to make it as per your taste. A dash of hot chilli sauce ,a dash of vinegar chillies and some vinegar and it became so tasty.
Price pinch was Rs 130/-.No taxes.
Had heard a lot about this from my friends so finally decided to try this out. The menu is pretty extensive, I only tried a couple of their dishes - the Paper Roll Chicken which was absolutely delicious, definitely a must try when you visit this place and their Chicken Meinfoon, which was okayish. It's a bit on the pricey side considering the quantity other places in the neighborhood serve but quality does make up for it.
The place has a nice and classy decor .The menu is extensive and has some unique Items . I really want to recommend this place . Any Chinese food lover will love it .Staffs were helpful .The service was top notch . It was amazing experience .
A must visit with friends , family and couple ....
This is a hidden gem in the Tiretti bazar area. Situated in a quiet alley, Sei Vui serves up Vietnamese as well as Chinese cuisine. The Vietnamese paper roll was a delicate tasteful awakening of a dish. The interior is lit with soft golden light and sparsely but very beautifully decorated.
This is a another hidden gem tucked in tiretti Bazar for authentic Chinese food lovers. They also have Vietnamese and Thai dishes in their menu. Decor and ambience is also nice. Only dishes I missed is pork dishes as Chinese food without pork is incomplete.
It's a another hidden gem of authentic Chinese food in tiretti Bazar. They also have Vietnamese and Thai dishes in their menu. Compared to food served in China Town restaurants, food they serve here is more authentic. Decor and ambience is also nice..
I had ordered from this restaurant a few days back.
Chilli fish half plate it contains just 3pieces of fish, it costs ₹205/-
Taste : 5/5
But price was little bit high compare to the quantity.
Their food was so tasty.
Quantity of food is more than enough for two moderately eating people. Ambience very calming and staff very helpful.
The Rice paper wrapped Vietnamese chicken rolls shook my tastebuds to be honest. It's a lot of flavours at the same time. There is gondhoraj lime zest along with crunchy rice noodles and perfectly cooked chicken pieces. Plus there is the extra effect of fennel leaves. At one point I even felt like it was saunf. Don't be shocked. The ensemble, though may sound funny and weird is a firecracker. It stole my heart. The chilli factor was overpowering, along with the limy essence. Also it's quite filling. I couldn't eat more than 2 at one go...
The chicken we ordered is Mala Szechwan Chicken. I'm not much of a foodie or explorer because I stick to places I like... So if I say this is the softest chicken I've ever tasted, do not take it by my word. But it definitely was very tender and juicy. What I liked most about this dish is the freshness of the gravy. It totally felt like they have ground the black peppers and chopped the onion and bell peppers just 10 minutes ago. They didntt use canned Szechwan sauce like other Chinese eateries do, which gave it a very authentic touch.
The name of the noodles dish is what we cannot remember. But if you want a hint it is a three letter word. Doesn't taste awesome, but is definitely good. It comes on a bed of sliced cucumber which really helped me soothe my tongue after the Vietnamese rolls which was too spicy. The noodles were well cooked as well.
P.s. I would like to encourage people to not use tungsten bulbs. No matter how nice they look and feel, it consumes an obscene amount of energy which is not worth it. Switch to plain yellow LED bulbs which will give the almost same effect to the surrounding without sucking up so much electricity...

You can call it one of hidden gems of old China town. Ambience is nothing fancy but it's clean and simple. Tried butter garlic fried prawn - taste good, chicken suimai - coating is Lil bit hard but tasted good, chicken Vietnamese rice paper roll - can fill you up as it contains rice noodles however tastes a little bland, in main course mixed burnt garlic rice and chilli basil fish (not at all spicy as the staff suggests) goes hand to hand. Moreover great place to hang out with family or friends.
A very dear friend recommended this quintessential Chinese restaurant for a family dinner as I am a great Chinese lover. We were amazed at the simple decor, the cordial staff behaviour and last but not the least food. We had ordered Chicken Manchow soup, Steamed chicken wantons, Golden fried prawn, Grilled chilly chicken dry, Crispy pepper fish, Burnt ginger mixed fried rice, Egg Schezwan Chow and Hot garlic chicken gravy. I mentioned each and every dish because they were unique. Superbly tasty and just right amount of flavours. My 4 year old child enjoyed as much as my mom-in-law. Just can't get over the dinner.
Just too good. It was my friend's birthday. Amra Sei Vui te giyechhilam for 1st time. Central Kolkata te ato sundar ekta authentic Chinese restaurant achhe seta jantam e na. Territy bazar er kachhe. Narrow lane opposite of Faltu biriyani shop. Nice ambiance, good food test. Honey chicken stick was superb. Please try once. Lighting o khub valo. Low light e adda khawa daowa with friends fatafati. Out side e green door royechhe for photoshoot. After fooding photoshoot to banta hain👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
*cake, from outside. It's done by myself.
Ordered home delivery!!!
We ordered chicken hakien chowmein.
Chowmein was fulled with vegetables and chicken. But somehow I felt a little like a gravy chowmein.
Happy fooding 😊
Our photography expeditions often take us to different nooks and corners of the city. On one such expedition, we found this well-appointed authentic Chinese restaurant. Tucked in the by lanes of Tiretti Bazar, this small cozy place is housed in a 1⃣1⃣0⃣ years old dormitory that was built for the Chinese working population during the British Raj. However, to save this old heritage building from decay, it has been turned into an authentic Chinese restaurant. 🍝
.
When we entered the place we were impressed by it's simple and soothing decor. Most importantly, most of the dishes in their menu are quite pocket friendly.( 🍽Food review is coming soon). Some of their famous dishes are, Steamed wantons, Sui Mai, Tom Yum, Squid with black pepper and many more. .
If you are someone who loves to experiment with food, then you must visit this place. ✔✔
PS: They have an extremely clean washroom.🚻

🕎overall review:- 7/10
This place is so nice.. food was also very good... And served in good quantity..
I specially wanna mention that direction of the restaurant that given by zomatoo is wrong..
It's place at the opposite lane of bsnl office in BBD bag .. it's the easiest way to find the restaurant as per me..
Accidentally found this hidden gem... located in a small lane near Poddar Court.... Was almost empty during lunch time! Managed by Chinese Owners, the place is cozy and comfortable... And food, really marvellous... guys if u want authentic Chinese food without going all the way to Tangra, this is the place to be.. And do try the Darsaan with Ice cream as dessert... you will love it
It's a hidden gem. Loved the whole ambience of this place, and the Chinese decor. We ordered Vietnamese rice pepper roll, lat me kai, coriander burnt garlic rice, chilli garlic noodles, hunan chicken and fish item. Everything was good. But lat me kai was exceptional. Loved this place.
You will have to search for the exact location at tiretti bazar..as it's not over the main road but it has Fantastic ambience.. standard food and eye-candy prices.. must try! Loved it!
Tucked in the bylanes of Barabazar, Sei Vui is quite the oriental delight. Tastefully decorated like a typically asian restaurant.
We had planned to visit this place based on the reviews and the diverse menu they offered but all in a reasonable price.
We ordered Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls which really made us drool, the freshness of the lemongrass and the julienned veggies made us dig for more
In the main course we ordered a Garlic egg rice and Fish in hunan sauce. The quantity of rice was overwhelming for two people, perfectly smoky with that tang of garlic.
The fish was nicely done although it wasn't that hot or spicy as expected of a hunan preparation, the only downside of it.
Additionally, we requested for some chilli oil, they happily obliged.
The place was completely empty except the both of us and we were served with a lot of care. Also they now accepts card payments now, unlike before.
Do visit this place for a fulfilling meal if you're a sucker for authentic Chinese.

When you are hungry and in search of a good place to satisfy your hunger, Sui Vei is like nirvana to your taste buds.
Hidden from the hustle bustle of the busy Dalhousie streets, this gem of a restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best among the ones offering Chinese cuisine to the people of Kolkata.
Not only are its dishes bursting with flavour but also it is easy on your pocket.
We had Chilly Garlic Noodles along with Chicken Tausi and Chicken Sui Mai for starters.
The flavours of Chicken Tausi and the noodles were in perfect harmony. Would definitely recommend the combo.
While placing our orders we were informed that it would take a while for the Chicken Sui Mai to be prepared, so whether we would like to wait for it or go ahead with the main course. We chose the latter, since we were led by our stomachs.
We don't regret it, as it didn't ruin our palate at all. Instead it surprised us with the immense flavour and savoury taste. Additionally, the portions served are more than average servings in other restaurants.
Last but not the least , the decor and the ambience, add couple of more feathers to Sui Vei's hat!
Heard about this Chinese restaurant on Zomato. Located in Dalhousie. Ordered online, the food was good and tasty. Packaging was neat. Delivery was quick too.
Ambience: (4/5)
Just five minutes walk from Central metro station, we found this gem of a Chinese restaurant called "Sei Hui" in one of the narrow vintage alleys of Tiretti. Although the restaurant might be a little difficult to locate, but with the advent of Google maps, it's not that difficult.
The community around that location is Chinese, and thus the ambience outside gives you the feel of a local Chinese lane.
From the outside, the restaurant looks really old and vintage. The building is more than 100 years old.
When we stepped inside, we couldn't believe our eyes. The interior looks amazing, it is clean and furnished. There are Chinese art all over the place, such as pictures and lanterns. They have left no flaws in decorating the place and it gives out the perfect tibetan feel.
Food: (3/5)
We had a lot of expectations for the food, looking at the authentic ambience of the place. The food was although, not the best Chinese food we've ever had, but it was really good. We had ordered
1) Chilli Garlic Noodles
2)Burnt Garlic Fried Rice
3) Honey chilli chicken
The best part about all of them was the quantity. It was enough for three person. The chicken dish had 10 pieces of chicken, and the noodles and fried rice were enough in quantity. All of the dishes had that authentic Chinese touch to it.
Overall:
If you love Chinese food, you must come here! Not just for the love of food, but mainly because of the ambience in and out of the restaurant. Tiretti is full of such restaurants and this truly is one of the best. Come here for your love for Chinese aesthetics and ofcourse the food!
Overall, Howimetyourcafe rates Sei Hui a solid 7/10.
Have a delicious day!
Nice place..foods were just awsm..excellent quality and quantity..budget friendly..
Staffs are very good..easy to locate..full value for money..
Heard a lot but experienced it last week
Awesome food. Great ambience. Value for money 100%. Loved this place a lot and good for a romantic outing with ur loved ones.
Only recently discovered that another chinese place existed in tiretti bazar area other than the well established Tung Nam.
This is a hidden gem and is a must visit for people visiting bbd bag area. Authentic good chinese food and withing the budget. Food quantity is fantastic and single dishes can feed 2 quite easily.
We ordered :
Golden fried prawns
Vietnamese rice paper rolls
Both delicious and good for hungry hearts.
This is truly a hidden gem yet to be discovered by many. It's a bit tough to locate but if you use the BSNL Telephone Bhavan ( just a five minutes walk from Central Metro Station , only if you come out from the Poddar Court metro gate ) as your landmark then you won't face a problem as it is situated in the lane right opposite to it.
A typical Authentic Chinese Eatery and the building in which the restaurant is located itself carries a history as it is about 110 years old.
The interiors are well made and maintained as well and it is extremely clean and hygienic. Coming to the food , we had -
● Vietnamese Paper Roll (chicken) , stong mix of flavoured chicken and vegetables wrapped with rice noodles. Truly something new and must try.
●Chilly Garlic Noodles which was extremely well prepared with a huge portion that can easily be shared among three average foodies.
●Kung Pao Chicken for the side dish which had 10 pieces of chicken. Only thing I found a bit awkward is that instead of Cashews which is generally used in this dish , they used nuts.
Overall highly recommended and A must visit place for all.
This food joint is probably the best chinese restaurant in the town.. Both their quantity and quality of the food was tremendous.. and their price was very very much affordable... This makes the restaurant topper.. we ordered chicken in oyster sauce.. which was so good , perfectly spiced with nice touch of saltiness of oyster sauce.. and Burnt garlic mixed fried rice , it was fluffy and tasted amazing .. we also ordered american chop suey and it was excellent... The lime soda was refreshing .... The ambience was calm and good .... The behavior of the staffs was very nice...
Hidden gem.... The ambience perfect and cozy, very peaceful place.... We ordered Thai fried rice and chicken in hoisin sauce.... Quality and quantity wise Excellent.... I loved the rice way too much.... Perfect blend of all the flavours.... The chicken was good too... Going to visit this place very soon
I just loved everything about this restaurant...the atmosphere as well as the food...I really want to recommend this place...it's amazing. Would like to visit again.
The food tastes good... quantity is really sufficient.. quality is fantastic..any chinese-food lover will love it..
In frame : Thai chicken fried rice & chicken in hoi sin sauce, Chicken nasi go reng fried rice, Chicken in tausi, Chicken steamed wanton.
The food is like some of the best Chinese restaurants in Kolkata. However our expectations were a bit more given all the hype around this place. The ambiance and services is perfect for a dinner date (but no couple table). The nasi goreng was not very authentic and was not at all like the dish we had in Bali. The price is also very affordable given the food, service and ambiance. Overall the food will not disappoint you..but there is nothing outstanding about this place to rate it 5.
Located in the heritage lanes of Tiretti, this one is easy to miss. Don't go with the locality or the outside decors, this place indeed exceeds all expectations once you step inside. Food is top notch, the noodles being the specialties. It lives up to the name and reputation of being a Chinese restaurant.
Food: 4.5

'Central' area of Calcutta is a hub of Chinese and Tibetan eateries and restaurants. The legendary ones such as Tung Nam, D'Ley etc adorn the place. 'Sei Vui' is a new but powerful entrant in this category.
Located at a five minutes walk from Central metro station this eatery is a spacious one. I went to this eatery after an arduous day at college.
I was shown to my table. The decor inside is amazing. I ordered :-
1)Chicken Lat me kai(4.5/5) :- This dish was extremely delicious, however I expected it to be a bit spicier. The meat was tender and juicy.
2) Squid in Black Pepper (5/5):- This dish was simply amazing. The squid was perfectly cooked. The spices were in perfect balance.
3) Bannana Toffe with Ice-Cream (4/5):- A perfect end to the meal. The banna toffee was delicious. It was warm and tasted heavenly with the ice-cream.
The staff was very well-behaved and amiable amd I will visit again.
Prices have been increased to 20, 30,40 and even 50 respectively on items. Not hard to locate this restaurant as its in the heart of Tirreti Bazaar. Ambience is Wonderful. One of those low light areas which gives you a Good feel.
Coming to the Food:-
#Drums of Heaven(Olyester/Chilli Sauce) Rs. 250
10 Medium Sice Pieces whuch were perfectly cooked and tasted awesome.
#Cantonese Mixed Chowmein Rs. 250
Gravy Chowmein had good bits of Chicken and Prawn. It was great too.
I wonder with such good aroma, The restro remains empty. We were the only one. Recommending Chinese Lovers to come here. Its neither pocket friendly nor Expensive... But definitely value for Money.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere there! The seating area is very spacious and provides a relaxing environment for dining out. A must visit for great Chinese food.
Went there last night with my family after reading the reviews on zomato was extremely happy with my decision. Tried a couple of the starters a soup and both a rice and noodle dish everything was delicious with extremely generous portions .A little hard to find but we called the no given and they sent a staff out to the main road to guide us .Would highly recommend a visit
1. Ordered Prawn Steamed Wantons, Tom Yum Soup, Crab in Singapore Sauce, Squid in Black Pepper Sauce, Roasted Lamb in Asian Barbeque Sauce, Nasi Si Go Reng Fried Rice and Lemon Iced Tea.
2. Pricing is reasonable.
3. Service is efficient.
4. The restaurant has great ambiance.
5. The Crab and the Squid were great.
6. A hidden gem of a restaurant. Must visit if you want to have authentic Chinese food.
I had been loving Chinese cuisine since childhood. Well I had been to Dalhousie numerous times but had never been to such a vibrant and wonderful restaurant.
SEI VUI is one calm composed authentic Chinese cuisines in Central Calcutta. The name Sei vui refers to a village in China.
The map is a little confusing. It didn't match and perhaps team Zomato would follow up soon. It's located just opposite to the clean city adjacent to podder court entrance. Well I had been fascinated with the menu which had all authentic Chinese cuisines decked up.
1) Chicken Meifoon soup.
The soup bowl was huge and I love quantity as a foodie. The chicken Meifoon was tender and delicious.
2) Asian barbeque FISH
This platter comes in smoked fish preparation with two sauces one pudina and the other sweet garlic sauce which is an outstanding combination. The marination and deeply blended taste of the fish will ooze out the nascent loving emotion of all fishlovers.
3) Chicken Sui Mai under Dimsum category.
The stuffing and fillings were compact and tasted super good. It made my day complete.
Nice staff. A sure shot checkout for all Chinese cuisine loving foodies. Tirreti bazaar is all full of surprises.
Sei Vui had been on my bucket list for a while now and finally last Sunday we went there for dinner. It is a 5 minutes walk from the Central metro station.
The place is beautiful and dimly lit. The ambience only lacked some soft Chinese music. We were greeted immediately when we entered and shown to our table. After settling down, we looked through the menu and ordered the following.
• Steamed Chicken Wontons - I had received recommendations to try out this dish and I surely have to say that I was not disappointed. The chicken stuffing was amazing and the wonton wrappers were thin and steamed perfectly. It was served with red chilli sauce and green coriander sauce.
• Drums of Heaven (Thai sweet chilli style) - This dish was recommended by the staff there and it was indeed a speciality. It consisted of 10 pieces of fried drumsticks tossed in a sweet and sour sauce with the dominant flavour of lime leaves.
• Golden Fried Prawns - It consisted of 10 pieces of medium sized prawns deep fried in batter until golden. This dish could have been better as the prawns lacked flavour.
• Mixed Coriander Burnt Garlic Fried Rice - This was a typical Chinese fried rice filled with egg, chicken and shrimps. The quantity was absolutely huge, 1 portion was sufficient for 3 of us.
• Roasted Lamb in Asian Barbeque Sauce - This dish had thinly sliced lamb meat in a smokey flavoured sauce.
• Squid in Black Bean Sauce - This dish was made with fried squid rings finished in a gravy having the pungent black bean flavour. This was my favourite out of all.
The food was of fine dining standards, the quantity was humongous and the price was so affordable. This is one of the best oriental restaurants in town.
Such a delightful place and obviously delicious. Quaint decor, great food and tranquility guaranteed. Try the crabs, the lambs, the squids, try the Indonesian ones and keep on trying. Get some #foodgasm and for puritans get there to get #foodmeditation.
In love with them.

One of the hidden gem in true sense. Located at the bye lane of territi bazar area (black burn st), opp. BSNL building, its a place one must visit to savour some great indian chinese dishes.
Ordered chk lung fung soup, kai chee chicken wings, mala szechwan chicken gravy and corriandar burn garlic egg fried rice. Quality and quantity were both good. Kai chee wings were the star of the table.
An old dormitory to shelter chinese migrant workers has been asthetically done up which needs a special mention.
Will definitely come back soon to savour their other dishes.
Its one of those little gems of Kolkata that you must, must visit if you are a foodie. The food here is delicious. The quantity of noodles, rice, and other starter items is also well above and beyond of what you will find in any other restaurant.
The ambience is also simple yet so elegant. A cut above all other restaurants in the area.
My recommendations for items to try: Steamed Wonton Chicken, Hokein Chowmein, Pepper Chicken.
We went there on a Sunday afternoon. The place was surprisingly empty. However, the food they served was extremely good. Authentic Chinese cuisine, and at a great price too!
This small Chinese eatery is yet another hidden gem in Tirreti Bazar. Located in a narrow lane just opposite to the BSNL telephone exchange, this place is at a few minutes walking distance from Central metro.
The heavy door welcomes to the quaint ambience of the restaurant, with really nice and pleasant ambience. The staff also are really nice and courteous, they even suggested us their specialities. The service too was really fast.
We were 3 people. We ordered for 2 plates of chicken fried rice and 1 plate of Chicken Mala Schezwan. The rice was served in a big bowl, enough for 2 persons to share. The side dish had 10 medium sized boneless pieces of chicken, enough for 3 people to share. The food was simple and authentic, just the way I like it. The quantity of the dishes deserves a special mention, at such cheap prices, we had expected much lesser quantities.
The bill came Rs. 500. The best part is, they DO NOT charge any additional taxes or GST.
P S- We remembered to take pictures only after our plates were empty and tummies were full.
Being a student of Medical College, Tirreti Bazar itself and the eateries situated there are our favorite hangout places, and we are sure to visit this place over and over again.
An old Chinese dormitory for migrant workers, shut down for a long time, has been transformed into one of the most quaint places you can ever dine in. There's a bit of history attached to this eatery but what separates this from the other joints in its vicinity is its attempt to respect its heritage and yet shake it off for a journey eyeing the future! Our walk to this eatery was merely due to its cheap food but what we entered into was an unpredictable experience.
🔹AMBIANCE & DECOR
The ambiance of this place is really calm and appealing to anyone who would require to wind down from their hectic foray in office para of Dalhousie or even frantic walkabouts in College Street!
Brick-layered walls that host a spacious hall and segmented into different seating spaces, this place is a true hidden gem. Let's explore why I say so...
🔹FOOD
1️⃣ Nasi Goreng Mixed Fried Rice - The fried rice emulates the style which has been shoved aside by many Chinese eateries in Kolkata. The grains wasn't totally fluffy but not congealed at all. It is really a bowlful of joy.
2️⃣ Chicken Laksa - A meal in itself, we rather opted to use it in a two-prong way being restricted by budget. The coconutty broth complemented the savoury rice and its mild nuttiness. The laksa was replete with chicken strips, tofus and flat noodles with ample veggies in the likes of carrots and celery to name a few. The kaffir lime leaves introduce the much needed acidity which cuts through the sweetness just the right way.
🔹SERVICE
Yes...while service in most eateries in these lanes can't even be a factor for a review, it is astoundingly important to mention for this one. The politeness of the server and eagerness to recommend when asked about it was truly appreciable. We went on asking about the history to the person sitting behind the counter...we asked to see the reserved space...we consulted for routes to take to head home. Everything was attentively answered.
I'd recommend this place to everyone who is wishing for a nice hangout place near Dalhousie and is tired of the dingy places!
Fresh food with good taste. A bit offside outlet. Need more promotional activities. Nice ambience with less crowd and simple Chinese interiors. Well coordinated staffs. Only one drawback that they dont accept cards for payment. OVERALL A GREAT EXPERIENCE IN SEI VUI. Thanks.
Till date Tiretti Bazaar is known for great Chinese food mainly because of restaurant like Tung Nam. But this newly opened restaurant is an addition to many others to compete the king of Chinese of this area. Lets see how they're doing...
Its few steps from Central Metro and located in the opposite lane of Telephone Bhavan. Its easy to locate the bright red building and its more impressive when you push the big door.
The decor of this place, I would say its a modern with elegant touch. This place is quite big inside and very silent at the same time. I was really impressed by the ambiance of this place as you don't find such good ambiance restaurant in this area. This place is indeed beautiful.
Okey! Coming to the food...
Steamed Wantons Chicken @ Rs.140 (4.85/5) :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was wonderful. Soft, steamed, wet wantons with light filling, it just tasted brilliant. There was 10 pieces and with no compromise in taste. It was one of the best wantons I've tried and it really deserves a second try.
Hokien Chowmein Chicken @ Rs.180 (2/5) :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After their great wantons it was a huge disappointment. I ordered this with the recommendation of their staffs and found nothing special. It was basically thick noodles with lots of veggies and very less chicken chunks. It tasted below average with its semi gravy base.
Chicken Mala Szechwan @ Rs.200 (3/5) :
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a fusion dish with mixed flavours of Chinese and Indian dishes. It tasted bit tangy, bit sweet and bit spicy. Overall it tasted very average. Quantity was good with 10 small pieces of chicken.
Pocket pinch is low here. Our total bill was Rs.540 including a 200ml soft drink. Best part is they don't add any GST. Worst part is they don't accept any kind of digital payment. No Credit/Debit Card, not even Paytm. So be sure you've cash in your pocket before stepping here.
This place gave me mix feelings. On one hand they really have decent ambiance that you can't get in any of the restaurant of this area. Talking about food some dishes were Muahhh where others were below average. Final question arises, Doe's this place beat the golden Tung Nam? My answer is No!
An absolute, absolute gem of a place, Sei Vui is definitely going to be one of our top favorite places to have Chinese food in the city. We are really thankful to the Chinese community of Kolkata who have come up with this brilliant idea and have executed it so well. ( If you want to know more about the history of this place, Google it or read other reviews and you might find it impossible to not visit this restaurant.)
Location might be a problem to some so follow the maps. It's located in an old red building which has been beautifully preserved by our Chinese friends in Kolkata. The building itself is quite photogenic with bright red walls, green doors and windows, hanging lanterns etc., don't forget to take a photo of it. The area surrounding the building, obviously, is dirty and completely chaotic but once you push the heavy door and enter, you are immediately transported in a different world. Sei Vui is absolutely quiet with no music, peaceful like a pagoda and has a Zen vibe, definitely not for people who love loud music, screaming laughters and selfie sticks. We visited at a time when we were the only customers, and everything was perfect! The interior is fuss free with simple tables and chairs, hanging lanterns and soothing lighting. The place is divided into sections out of which we chose the corner which has some natural light from the only window.
The servers were extremely attentive and brought the menu card and cold water immediately upon getting seated. We placed an order for Vietnamese rice paper rolls, lo han chai and hokien noodles. The food took some time to arrive but the wait was totally worth it. This was the first time we were having rice paper rolls. The look and taste of this item is beyond amazing! Thin, membranous rice paper with assorted vegetables, herbs, crushed peanuts, kaffir lime leaves and spices inside. It was truly a riot of flavors, served with a green coriander and a red dip.
The noodles were absolutely delicious and loaded with vegetables. It went perfectly well with lo han chai- mixed vegetables with tofu, bok choy etc.
They have a super well maintained washroom and the bill came without any extra taxes and charges! Boy, we spent almost 3 hours and didn't want to come back at all!
If we must list the cons, we'd say they should make their menu a little more detailed since most of the Chinese items sound the same to Non- Chinese people. Also, they could play some soothing Chinese music maybe? Overall, totally loved the place and we simply can't wait to visit again soon!
.
Pocket pinch-
Vietnamese rice paper rolls- INR 160
Lo han chai- INR 190
Hokein chow- INR 150
Total- INR 500
As per zomato RS 400 for 2 is totally wrong. Restaurant is good.ambience is very good. Food quality and taste, very good. Presentation is good. Price is little higher side but not gst applied in bill. but as compared to price quantity is not up to the mark. Overall a very good experience. Liked it. :-)
I would never find this hidden gem if not part of the heritage walk today. Thanks to our guides for introducing us to such a authentic, vibrant place. Ambience is so eye pleasing. Ordered the foods according to our guide's recommendation which are mix hokein chowmin, Fung Mei mein(sweet noodles with black bean sauce), general tao's fish, chicken in tausi(again in black bean sauce) and lemon chicken. All the items were heavenly specially the sweet noodles and chicken in tausi. Quantity is enough for two people, courteous staff. First time experienced eating with chopsticks and bowl. Overall, had a memorable experience. hope to visit soon.
This is a great place to visit. The decor is great so is the food. Staff are courteous. Authentic taste..a hidden place but must visit. Sea food soup and wantons are a must try!👍👍 Great place.
So glad that I found this restaurant! When u get inside you will feel like you are being taken away from all the hustles and bustles of the city, and that you have come to a monastery! I really liked the calm ambience! Located near tirreti bazaar, a walking distance from central metro station, the ambience is great, and also quite photegenic.
We ordered Chicken Steamed Wanton, which id a must try over here I must say!! Juicy wanton pieces were gobbled up in a minute! Next we had the Chilli Garlic Noodles along with Hong Kong Chicken, both of them were full of flavours, well cooked and good quantity! They serve 10pieces of chicken in all dishes, but not large pieces so it can be shared well by 2-3 people. The prices are justified as per the food taste, impressive inspite of being a new place.
I always want to visit Teritty Bazzar Momo market. As a late morning person I never able to do that. When I saw this restaurant in zomato I couldn't control myself. Disclaimer- Don't miss any road which your map is showing, if you did you have to count fine to enter in one way lane (which u can hardly identify). They don't accept any digital payment (neither card nor paytm only cash). All these obstacles spoilt my mood. By overcoming this we ordered hot and spicy fish as appetizer, general Taos chicken and hokien noodles. Seriously the taste lifted our mood. I never had these kinda authentic Chinese dishes in Kolkata. From appetizer to sweet and salt lime soda everything was top notch. The best semi gravy noodles I ever had. And the quantity is sufficient for two. The ambience was pretty good with helpful staffs. They gave us a good amount of time to tell us what is what. Wish I could taste their all dishes.
I would have given this place a 4.5 on 5 actually had the "new" zomato permitted it. The place is beautiful, with lovely decor and ambience. The staffs are courteous and helpful. Now, coming to the food, we ordered,
-Hokien noodles, which is a little different from conventional hakka or gravy noodles. It's a mix of both the styles and tastes great.
-Drums of heaven in Thai sweet chilli sauce, which was again great in taste and quantity. 10 succulent, juicy pieces of chicken tossed in Thai sweet chilli sauce, it was a show stealer. It came with a coriander chutney on the side which was equally good in taste.
Both the dishes were recommended by their servers and both were great. The quantity was more than enough to feed two people and the quality great. The prices are pretty reasonable for a restaurant of that calibre considering the beautiful ambience and the quantity. There are lots of new and different dishes on the menu to try. The price for two will be approximately around Rs 600 if you have a full course meal. We paid Rs 400 for the two dishes we had.
Now coming to the location, it's a bit tricky and that's the only negative point of this restaurant. It is located in an alley opposite telephone bhavan and beside D'Ley. The signboard, however, is visible from the main road itself if you look inside the alley.
Overall, a highly recommended place. It's a stunner if I may say so.
An awesome restaurant with beautiful ambiance
Their staff are also polite and the food is delicious
but it is not situated in a very good place but that area need some restaurant
i liked this place and the rate of the food is also average and they are best at Chinese food
must try this place
Located in the hub of Terreti Bazar, Sei Vui is a labour of love and hard work for Mr Hua and his team. They have lovingly refurbished a section of an 110 year old building, adjacent to an old Chinese Church, to serve authentic Chinese food at reasonable rates. The food was quite good, especially the golden fried prawns, lemon coriander soup and burnt garlic noodles. The owner himself came over and accompanied us to the adjacent church. All in all, a very happy dining experience!
Loved the food here and atmosphere at sei viu. we visited on a quiet Tuesday evening and were greeted by the friendly staff. The menu was a little difficult to comprehend if you want to try new stuff. We picked some steamed wantons because any trip to an authentic Chinese restaurant calls for some wantons. We also tried the chicken wings from starters, hokein chowmein which I absolutely loved. Some lo Han chai made of shiitake mushrooms, veggies and silken tofu and brought back some Hakka noodles and more wantons. We were recommended to try their crabs the next time and I cannot wait to go back and do so. (Will post an update once that's done)
Sei Vui is one of the newest offering from old China Town tirreti bazar in Kolkata. They are 3 months old and becoming popular day by day.
Located at the opp lane of telephone exchange. Ambiance was very nice and soothing. Staff presented were very good, I like the explanation of their menus by our server.
Now coming to food we had General Tao's Chicken, Hokien Mixed Noodles and Keong Sweet and Spicy Fish along with Sweet lime soda. Our bill was 820 INR all inclusive.
★ Keong Sweet and Spicy fish had 10 Pcs of specially tossed fish in some secret sauce with onion and bell peppers. Taste was very good.
★ General Tao's Chicken had 10 Pcs of boneless chicken in a dark medium spiced gravy. Its little bit salty.
★ Hokien Mixed Noodles was star of show because I never had such brilliant semi hakka noodles in Kolkata. Its a bit oily but for 1 day I can manage.
A good restaurant for proper Chinese cuisine, Sei Vui leaves a feel good factor on the whole. The preparations are delicious and the staff, extremely courteous and attentive.
The Jasmine tea deserves a special mention.
The ambience is simple and elegant.
The Menu card however could be more customer friendly. Items that are listed could be a like more detailed or have an individual write up.
Among the items we had the sui Mai was really delicious. The chicken was soft and juicy as well as the sauce went really well with the dish. I want to add the Chinese tea. It was so good. It had a nice cleansing effect as well as had its own aroma.
I visited this new restaurant opened at the 110 year old Dorm for Chinese travellers after reading an interesting article about them in The Telegraph . The food is quite good, the range is impressive & the staff is cordial. This place is worth a visit & more for sure. Would love to visit again
The quality and the taste of the food is excellent..
The ambience was good enough and the service was prompt..Tried the mixed fried rice and prawn in plum sauce..both the items were very tasty...
Unexpectedly found this gem while exploring Terreti Bazaar. Awesome ambience - peaceful, one or two local Chinese families might be dining there.. Really delicious food.. Very reasonable pricing.. Waiters were very polite and nice. Would really recommend this place.
Fresh in the list of resturant which serve good Chinese food. Little inside from the main road but it's a gem and if they able to maintain the quality then this food joint does have potential. Food is really good in terms of taste, price and the quantity. You can try anything as they serve really good food.
Superb Ambience ( but don't compare with Park Street like..). Food is truly excellent & mind blowing, I have been a regular visitor of all kinds of Chinese restaurants in & around the city, but nothing like it in terms of quality, quantity , price, authenticity, Will visit many more times for sure. Guys, DO visit this place- highly recommended for both take away & dining...
One of the hidden gem of Kolkata located in narrow alley near Poddar court and Terity bazar.
The ambience was great 👍
Yummy 🤤 food 🥘 tasted pure Chinese
We were hungry late afternoon yesterday and suddenly saw this restaurant, having awesome 😎 experience..
We tried the Hokien Chow Chi, Hakka Noddles, & Chicken 🍗 Mala Szech.
All items were perfectly served and full of taste...
The taste of food 🥘 and the ambience made my afternoon wonderful..
I personally suggest to all Chinese food 🥘 lover do come this place and have a lunch 🥗 or dinner 🥘 anything...
Amongst the many hidden gems of Tirreti Bazaar this is one, a century old Chinese dormitory meant for migrant workers of the community reopens as a restaurant. Parched in an alley right opposite to the Toong Yon Church, beside the BSNL Bhavan, the ambience reeks of a mild old Chinese feel. Beside it resides a closed door church and opposite it lies the only handmade shoemakers of the area, also an alms house used for burial purposes. Now, coming to the restaurant, SEI VUI is mildly wild. The placard is visible from the main road itself if you look at the alley. Here you'll find little unknown dishes rarely seen in other places. In fact, each restaurant in this area offers a surprise package and an old world charm. Here it's the quintessential hoikin noodles, somewhat different from your regular noodles with a mild savory flavour. The momos are a good option as well. Overall a good eating out option. While you are at it, please explore the area and visit the churches. Happy Chinese New Year.
Went to this new Chinese restaurant near poddar Court.
Real authentic Chinese with great quality and taste.
The ambience is nice to sit and dine with family.
They also provide parcel services.
The staff was really very warm and nice and the service was prompt.
Got lucky as they were open despite celebrating Chinese New Year.
This place is a hidden gem. Situated in an alley near Central metro, this place is good on taste and light on pocket. The ambience is too good and definitely classy. The food is just yummm! We tried the chicken crispy spring rolls and wonton chiken soup.... the spring rolls were delicious, crispy and served with green sauce and sweet chilly sauce to add to its flavour and the wonton soup was light and filling for two and tasted pure chinese!!!
Even though it is a hard to find place it is worth the go to.
This place has the potential of becoming of Kolkata's hidden gem.
Delectable food, wonderful service and fine ambience. Located near tiretti the location may feel a tad odd but for foodies, location for great has should never been an issue.
Ordered Chilly garlic noodles, sweet and sour chicken , and absolutely satisfied with both taste, quality and quantity.
Working hard and need a break of good food, this place is to be.
It's one of the best restaurant in kolkata to have authentic chinese food. The food is just awesome. It is located in central kolkata near the Podder court area. It's difficult to find it situated in a lane. The food is too good. Have tried the steam chicken wonton and chicken spring roll which was very juicy to have as a starter. In the main course the cantonese chowmin which was just too good and kung pao pork.. The taste was too good to have. But in the desert I wanted to darsaan which was not available. The worst part of the place was their service. It's just like hell you at least have to wait for 30 min for them to serve you the food. The service must be a bit better than there is no complaint at all.. plz improve the service. Serve the food a little quick.. best of luck..
Definitely give this place a try if you want to try out authentic Chinese food. It's a hidden gem in true sense. Spacious and minimal decor, serves amazing authentic Chinese food. The service is good. Quantity served is huge. We packed mixed fried rice and chilli fish and the taste and packaging was so good. We ordered spring rolls, tung lung soup which was so filling and full of mushroom, chicken and eggs. We also ordered steamed wontons that was equally delicious. Overall an amazing experience, would definitely try again
Continuing my quest for authentic Chinese places after being back in the city for Durga Puja, I found yet another great place in central calcutta! Starting from the architecture to the food, everything is authentic Chinese. The interior is very nicely decorated with a Chinese feel. We tried the steamed wonton, mixed fried rice(had a hint of Bengali influence with addition of chick peas!), pork in hoisin sauce, and pork in hot garlic sauce. The Hoisin sauce was just deadly 🔥 Overall the food just made us want for more! Special mention to their quantity, we were pleasantly surprised to see the portions of a half plate! Highly recommended if you're a Chinese food enthusiast or even in the neighborhood just looking for a nice place to eat!

Best Chinese in heart of kolkata. A century old restaurant with amazing quality and unbelievable quantity. Just 4 min walk from Central metro's 5 no gate. Must visit if you want to taste authentic Chinese.
Authentic Chinese food in the heart of Kolkata. The hot and sour soup is one of the best I've ever had, anywhere in the world. The Chinese style chop suey with pork was delicious and could have easily served two persons. Reasonable prices and great service as well.
Very nice ambiance of the restaurant . The taste and quantity of the food is good for the price and there was no long wait after ordering. The behavior of the restaurant people is polite. I ordered Pepper Garlic Chicken Wonton, Shanghai Fried Rice and Lemon Fish. The wontons were super tasty, must try. but
The lemon fish was not as good as I expected.
An authentic Chinese restaurant of Terita Bazar area, an old Chinese settlement of Kolkata.
The ambience is good. Not a very sophisticated interior but a decent one. Dining area is air-conditioned.
Food quality is good and quantity is also sufficient.
We had ordered Chicken steamed wanton, Spring Roll, Nasi Go Reng Fried rice, Kung Pao Chicken and Chilli Pork. Except the preparation Chilli Pork, all were excellent, especially Nasi Go Reng Fried rice.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing in terms of food quality, quantity, service and atmosphere.
Foods that I've tried:
1) Vietnamese Paper Roll (it is served cold with sauce. And as it is cold & prepared with the perfect combination of flavours, you'll be able to enjoy the flavours very taste-bud blowingly if that's a word)
2) Prawn Wonton soup (flavourful soup with soft and properly prawn-filled wontons are to die for. Want to try other wonton soups again)
3) Pork Cha Jang Mein (it was very heavy as you can see from the picture. And it's basically made with thick noodles with black beans thus this dark color. Pork was shredded very finely to melt in)
4) Darsaan with ice cream (perfect dessert indeed. The crispyness and icy sweetness goes hand in hand here)
Want to visit again for other dishes.

🔸Hot Basil Noddle 🍜
🔸Shanghai Veg Fried Rice {Mixture of Rice & Noodles}
🔸Coriander Burn Garlic Egg Fried Rice
🔹Mala Szechwan (Pork)
🔹Kung Pao Chicken
🔹Dry Chilli Chicken ♥️
Must try Shanghai Fried Rice🤤♥️
Absolutely hidden treasure. On the narrow lanes of Tiretti Bazar Sei Vui represents Chinese heritage and culture. I'd not say its absolutely authentic Chinese but still a touch of authenticity is there especially with the appetisers. Quite a different menu with steamed wontons, moon kao and rice paper rolls. All the dishes taste amazing and full of umami. The main course we took parcel for dinner and those were equally tasty.
No doubt it's the cheapest restaurant compared to it's competitors across the city and the quantity is definitely sharable.
We also had Darsan with ice cream and we had no other than liking it. Crisp crunchy mildly sweetened Darsan would be a must at the end.
Thank you Sei Vui for that wonderful food, it was a special day for us and you made it really special. Definitely deserves a second visit to try rest of the dishes. 😊

Great place near my college.
Tasted the wonton and pork noodles.
It's 3 minutes walk West from the Central metro station North gates. It's a little inside from the main road.
Food quality is descent.
Costed around 220 for 1 person.
Was planning to eat here for quite a long time. The first starter (wonton soup) was warm, comforting. The second starter (Crispy chilly roll or something like that) created a delicious ruckus in our mouth. It was spicy and tasty. And the Pad thai was so umami!
Will go there again.
Best Ever Chinese Restaurant & Dishes I've ever Tried. must Recommend
1. Hot Basil Noodle
2. Shanghai Fried Rice
3. Prawn Fried Wanton
4. Vietnamese Chicken Paper Roll
5. Dry Chilly Chicken
6. Mala Schezwan
7. Kung Pao Pork
8. Coriander Burn Garlic Noodle
Food is extremely delicious, and the portion size is more than enough. It is recommended go there with a big group rather than just 2 people caz u will save a bit of money and u wouldn't need to pack the rest of the food as they serve in large quantities (specially the main course items).
Its one of the best chinese joints in town. Wantons are a must try. Thai fried rice and Nasi goren pork are also recommended. The restaurant has a warm cosy vibe, staff js polite and helpful, service is also good. Worth a try🤟
Avoid chicken drumsticks here. Wanton soup and momo - tasty. Nasi Goreng - might not be to everyone's liking, but I personally liked it. Mixed Hakka Noodles - very tasty. Ambience was good, family friendly. Chilli Fish was also to my liking. Service was fast.
