One of my favorite vegetarian restaurant in the city. The food is absolutely lip smacking. Though a little congested but the taste will make sure you dont remember all that.

This place is very close to hotel esteem where we stayed. We decided to go there and we tried masala kulcha along with palak paneer. It was delicious and went there on the next day also

Kashmiri aloo dum is just exceptional.. Its my favourite.. Only problem is the quantity they provide.. Its just not sufficient for 2 person of normal appetite.

I want to make 1 thing clear first - I am giving Desi cuisine a bonus 0.5 because it was the only place where we were able to get seating after roaming for an hour trying to find a place during the crowded poila baishak festival. That line itself speaks to how well this place is performing.
Now coming to the actual review, Desi Cuisine is a typical AC Dhaba. It is a 30 seater and serves only vegetarian. The place can seem crowded because the seats are placed too close together, and does not win the place any points for ambiance.
Food wise, it is decent. Now we were hungry, so we dug in whatever was served, but normally we would give such items a pass. The Black Dal was underwhelming and was expected to be better. The butter aloo tikka masala was good however. They also did not have many items on the menu available, like the garlic Nan. Pricing is reasonable however.
Overall, this place is to go to only if you're on a tight budget, and ask the waiter about the type of Black Dal you order.
Yday late night we visited the joint at about 1 am and it was fully stacked like anything. We managed to get our orders done and sat down. Firstly we had paneer tikka and babycorn which were good enough. Then we ordered Dal tadka, Aloo pyaza, paneer tikka masala along with rooti n kulcha. The food wasn't anything wow but the service was prompt. Dal tadka was the show stopper which was really amazing.
This place is Just Opposite to the place I visited lately , this is a very good place and must try for all late night freaks. I tried paneer in main course along with rotis followed by some sweets. Over all experience was very good and recommended place. Try this place.

Though i didnt like veg food so much but their veg foods were tasty n yummy. Achari alu, Kashmiri aloor dum, jeera rice, veg polao - all were nicely cooked and served quickly. I liked achari aloo mostly.It was tangy ans spicy a little. This place is small but food was good and price was affordable too. and moreover it's near my work...
The place is owned by a former employee at Balwant Singh's and offers satisfying vegetarian food that is not too hard on the pocket. Probably even better than BSEH.

It's like a second option for those who cannot wait in line for their turn at Balwant Singh's Eating House. It has an AC seating on what appears like the mezzanine floor. We found a table there and ordered doodh cola, a signature drink that was invented by Balwant Singh's dhaba. I was told an ex employee has started Desi Cuisine. No wonder the Alu Dopiaza and tadka tasted almost like what I loved from the famed dhaba. I say almost like because nothing can match the taste of the original.
The onion kulcha was also good and so was the dal khichdi. The tadka was yummy in my tummy in no time.
One of the best places to have vegetarian food, and you are reading this from a hard-core non-vegetarian person. Only place I go, when I have to go for vegetarian. The service and other facilities can improve
Nice food at reasonable price. We ordered Chana Masala and Dal Makhani which were very tasty. And the good thing is that they have falka on menu.
Must try the "ilaachi -adrak" infused chaai and "special" coffee here. I have chai here every single evening. The owners are quite gracious and even if the seating area is totally packed, these guys will arrange seatings. Try the garma garam samosas and the namkin with mirchi, it goes well with my everyday chai. :) I come to this place every day.

Close competitor of over-hyped Dhaba, Balwant, and certainly provides better food. I have been there many times and had tried many items and everything is just average, (so you can imagine how Balwant's food wouble be). But the morning tea and snacks are really good infact better than Sharma's (located on the other side of the crossing).. many people with their friends and enjoy their morning tea here, u can spot me as well sometimes. ;)
Visited here last night with my wife. Really enjoyed the food. Service was good too. Had variety of dishes but really liked stuffed potato and kulfi falooda. Will visit here back soon.

Enjoyed the food. The service is prompt and the servers are attentive. The gobi masala was excellent. Rounded off the meal with yummy mango kulfi and a hot and juicy gulabjamun. Wash it all down with a steaming hot cup of their signature Chai. Quite a bit of blissful dining.

Its actually a Dhaba style restaurant with amazing serving and very good food.Huge list to choose from and the taste reminded me of rajasthan style food- very delicious

The food is cooked in very good medium and has dishes like Methi Malai Curry , Samosa, Dal Makhani which are undoubtedly one of the best in the city. The tea was at par with that of the Sharma (kesaria chai) Samosas far better. Jalebi hot and sweet, Navratan Korma made me realised as if I was in Lucknow. Mali Kofta made me plung all my fingers. Chola made me feel Amristari Kulcha was ausome Garlic Nan was hot and soft And Laasi helped me digest the junk.
Desi Cuisine is a nice place located just opposite to bhavanipur gurudwara or can say diagonally opposite to balwant Singh eating house and is giving a great competition to balwant Singh they have all set for a vegetarian meal and snack, the food quality and quantity is really pocket friendly and amazingly delicious starting from there doodh cola, tea, paneer tikka, mushroom tikka....... And even the North Indian food is amazing. I would recommend ppl to once visit there with family for dinner or to have a adda session with friends sipping doodh cola or tea with variety of options in food or snacks will drive you crazy... Must try it guys...

Came here once when a t-20 match got washed out. The food is okayishh, nothing extraordinary. You can have doodh-cola here which is kind of famous in this road. But highlighting factor is the kulfis outside this outlet. He has some of the best kulfis especially the seetafal kulfi. While he is serving you, just have a chat with him on how he prepares it. 1 extra rating for kulfi itself.

Almost the same as balwant's. I have come here exclusively for the kulfi too. The food, I found to be better than balwant's. I had baby corn, paneer tikka and the famous doodh-cola. Loved it.

I visited this restaurant for authentic north indian taste after a hectic Saturday working. The place is small and converted from a take away place to restaurant. Service is slow as there is only waiter. I ordered paneer tikka masala with tandoori roti and garlic naan. Apart from garlic naan, both things were fingerlicious. Don't visit with many friends or family as it is a small place but definitely worth visiting for its taste.

This is a totally vegetarian eatery. They serve North Indian cuisine. I had Aloo paratha and it was very nicely made. Although the price is a bit high, the taste of the food was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the Aloo Paratha. The chutney accompanying the paratha was just mighty amazing! I also had tea which was priced at 30.00 bucks. The tea was really nice as well. The place remains open till late night and it is situated just opposite Balwant Singh. Although, I am a hardcore non vegetarian, I thoroughly enjoyed having food here. Even the Paan was amazing! The service was also very prompt. I sincerely look forward to visit again!
Excellent Food Quality. Have been ordering since it's opening and never I have experienced any bad or stale food quality. The small mazinen floor is very cozy and noise free. Service is excellent and the owners are very friendly. They personally come and ask you about the quality and make sure it's top of the line. The home delivery is prompt & quick. My family always prefers ordering thru them considering the quality & quick service.
