Had been coming here since my childhood to get breakfast. This place near Lake kali bari serves up really delicious Gujarati snacks which is made fresh at there back kitchen every few hours. I love their Pyaz Samosa (tip: don't take just one and ask for chutneys), their soy sticks and cheese balls. They also have a variety of sweets to choose from.
Excellent snacks, good variety is converted. But the snacks are a bit costly.. they serve both hot snacks and stored items. Some sweets also available.
A Gujarati sweets and snacks shop that's loved by all!
β Location: Right at the opposite of Mandarin Restaurant near Lake or diagonally opposite to the lake petrol pump or right beside Go Lebanese.
β Food: Have had their Aloo bonda, samosa, khaman dhokla, khatti dhokla and other farsaan a zillion times and i freaking love them every time.
* Love their Jalebi, gulab jamun, kaju katli, besan ke laddu & barfi.
* Particularly the Aloo bonda with that hot & sweet chutney is to die for.
* the khatti dhokla (white dhokla) is something new to me which i've never had anywhere before. And i love it with the chutney.
* the khandvi is soooo freaking good! Only a true Gujarati could make that awesomeness!
* The Mirchi vadi is another delicacy of this place.
* Samosas are equally good!
**A must try for all the commuters and residents of the area.
One of the most popular places in south kolkata for gujarati snacks and breakfast options. The onion samosa and freshly fried gathiya are among the most famous dishes. Sandwiches and jalebi's are equally popular and delicious. Do give the banana chips and kharkra a try as a mid day snack.
Saurashtra is one of the best snacks centre for the vegetarians. Eerything they sell are yummy and u crave to eat more.
My favourites from Saurashtra is-
Onion samosa, gathiya with papaya bhuji, jalegi, sandwich..
Onion samosa and the sandwich is a must try.
A good place for munching on to the some indian snacks. Tried the rice dhokla , khandwi and the samosa. All the items were just amazing. The pocket pinch is pretty reasonable. Recommended for all.
A nice snacks shop in southern avenue. The place is popular for Gujrati snacks and sweets. Only veg items are available. Different types of sweets are also available. Snacks are chtpata and very tasty, sweets are also delicious. Tried dhokla, singara and peda. Very nice. Pocket pinch is reasonable.
Location-Southern Avenue,Kolkata.
New Saurashtra Nimki House is mainly known for its gujrati snacks offering. They have two outlets in Kolkata and we went to this outlet for some morning breakfast. It's mainly a takeaway counter and usually remain crowded throughout the day.We had-
1:Rice dhokla
2:Khandvi
3:Samosa
All the above dishes were quite good in taste and were quite perfect for a light and healthy breakfast.

Been here with some of my foodie friends for breakfast and try some of their signature Gujrati snacks. It was a takeaway outlet. No sitting arrangement but you stand and eat in outlet covered area. Ambience was good and so as hospitality. Quick service and pocket friendly price. Friendly staff. We tried their pyaj samosa, chawal dhokla and khandvi all were Traditionally made and tastes heavenly delicious. A must try place. Recommended to all. Personal favorite.

One of the takeaway joints that have Gujarati snacks on offer. Even though it's situated right beside the Silver Oak, had not managed to visit it till recently. Ordered Rice Dhokla, Khandvi and Onion Samosas. The onion samosa had aloo as well, but didn't taste as good as I had thought. The Khandvi however was a revelation! It was my first time tasting one, and am definitely gonna try it again. Their Dhoklas are pretty well known, so you can have a go at those as well !
Located in Southern Avenue, it apparently looks like a dry snacks shop with nimki, bhujiya, chanachur, chips kind-of shop. But this place will surprise you with a variety of Gujrati snacks.
We tasted the Rice Dhokla, Khandvi and Mini Onion Samosas.
Samosas were good. Also had aloo in the filling along with onions.
Rice Dhokla was soft and okay.
What I liked the best is the Khandvi. This is the first time I tasted a Khandvi and it was incredible. Made me feel like: Where was I in the world all this time? I was really surprised. It tasted so good with or without the curry.
Definitely coming back again!
New Saurashtra Nimki House near Sarobar Lake is a popular outlet of snacks. I visited here for a morning breakfast. Their foods are wonderful and tasty. They are popular for Gujrati snacks.
We had Rice Dhokla, Khandivi and Samosa here. Each of them were good in taste.
Prices are pocket friendly.

Located opposite the southern Avenue post office.
This veg joint is very famous for amazing snacks. Dhokla is very famous from this place.
However i even love the sattu peda and the gulab jamun.
Service was good and fast.
Pocket pinch was reasonable.
New Saurashtra Nimki house is located at Southern Avenue, Kolkata which offers a plethora of Gujarati snacks & sweets .
It's basically a take away counter with quick service .
Tried dhokla, chanachur, gathiya, alu vadas, samosa etc.
All were decent and tasty.
Pocket pinch is ok.
ππMy Father Was In A Urgent Meeting At Southern Avenue. And When He Finished His Meeting He Thought That I Should Take Some Snacks For My Only Son Aman. So He Bought Plain Chips, Chanachur And Nimki From New Saurashtra Nimki House, Southern Avenue. It's Located Opposite To Mandarin Restaurant And Near To Go Lebanese, Southern Avenue. This Is My Father's 5th Visit. And It's A Good One. #THANKYOUDADDY.ππ
This is not a restaurant - it is a shop and a stand and eat place and I am yet to find more fresh Gujarati Farsan in this part of South Calcutta.Β
The kitchen is just behind the shop and batches of fresh dhoklas, mini onion samosas, alu vadas keep replenishing the trays.Β
I am a regular there and vouch for the taste and freshness of all their items - yellow and white dhoklas, gathias, multiple types of khakras (the methi is my favourite), theplas that last 3-4 days, excellent sandwiches (at jaw-dropping prices) and all the dry snacks like chewda and old fashioned chips with fiery red masala !Β
One tip - it is better to buy dhoklas around 10 am than at 7am, as the 10 am tray is made right there while the 7 am tray is possibly made the night before.
Was looking for some khakhra in kolkata locally made in shop instead of those packaged khakhra and came across this place and was happy to find variety of gujrati farsan item which is difficult to find in kolkata under one roof. Tried there khakhra , kachori and mathri everything was awesome and priced reasonable.
Nice place. Tried 'khaasta kachuri', gulab jamun, kesar laddo, besan ka laddo and dhokla. All of them were equally good. Apart from that instant prepared chanachur seemed very delicious. This place maintains good quality with pocket friendly bill.
They offer some famous gujrati snacks along with namkeen. From thepla, fafda, dhokla and others ,they are so perfect and authentic. My favourites - dhokla and aloo banda.
Saurashtra Nimki House is a great place for Gujarati farsan/snacks. Their kachoris, samosas, vada pav, mirchi pakoras and sandwiches are just yum. They have a large variety of munchies/crispies which one can take home and enjoy with a cup of tea for many days. (as you can store in airtight containers ....gathia, sev etc).I simply love to have their jalebis and gathia as my Sunday breakfast accompanied by the fresh papaya salad they give with it.
A good place which has maintained their quality thus keeping customers happy π

a good place for gujarati sweets and and snacks...quality is good...prices affordable and a decent variety with a prominent location...a hotspot for the lake morning walkers picking up some sweets and snacks on their way home
Want Gathiya? Want Thepla? Want Karela chips? Want dhokla? Look no further. This is your one stop joint for all things "namkeen", all things "gujrati" and all this "salty". Excellent quality of deep fried snacks at very reasonable prices are found here all year round. My favourite being thepla, gathiya, dhokla. They are hygenic, well behaved and authentic.
High Ratings for high quality maintained over the years!
Saurashtra Nimki House is a brand in Kolkata when it comes to gujarati farsan and snacks. Whether it's the gathia, murku, bhavnagari, methi farsan or mini pyaaz ka samosa, jalebi, aloo bonda, vada paav or the lately introduced different varieties of sandwiches....all items are equally relished!
The morning walkers line up for their daily dose of sumptuous snacks, the homemakers for their afternoon adda, children for their lovable chips and farsan and the office goers for their evening quota of refreshments. The store is a branch of the main store on elgin Road.
The prices of farsan and mixtures are around 280/kg and other snacks are priced between 6 to 20. Personally, I have never faced a quality issue from them from my countless visits.... And that sums up all!
Just located opposite to Sarat Bose post office this place has some really great snacks to offer. Not a huge shop in itself but they have a huge stock for sure. Well stacked from shelf to shelf with popular food items like mixed chanachur to bombay chaat. Nicely packed and very well made, I love their fried nimkis.
Some of the items which I personally like are their Dhokla ( chutney served is awesome ) Murkhu ( an all time favourite ) Dal Moth, Cheese Balls ( large quantity ) and Muri Mixtures are some of the items I really love.
Also their home made chips are crisp and very well made. Can't say all their snacks are healthy but if you like to munch on something most of the time this place has some brilliant snacks to offer. Very reasonably priced, one should definitely visit this shop if looking for good quality home made snacks.
This is not typically neighbourhood sweetshop. But they have a plethora of sweets and namkin to offer. The prices are a bit prohibitive but the food is extremely tasty and of great quality. I must try, whether you have a sweet-tooth or a namkin one.
Vada pao, dabeli, fafda, dhokla, patra, khandvi, mirch vada.........brilliant selection and availability
Wish they could do vada, pao & chutney separate instead of their ready eat version with all already packed in cling sheet.
Happy to hv introduced this place to my friends in Kolkata - palpi pet ke liye kitna experiment karna padta hai
Stop by early morning for fresh dhoklas and straight off the fryer samosas. The spring rolls and vada pav also come highly recommended. They are known more for their savories than sweets.
Snack center heaven!! Great service but not so great crowd.... Statutory warning!! Don't venture there on a Sunday morning. You will be crushed by some ill mannered regular customers. I think I pretty much tried everything that I could fit in my belly since my pocket could afford it. Rs. 600 and I got khandvi, fafda, aaloo bonda, mirchi vada, regular samosa, pyaanj samosa.... Every preparation is unique and stands out on its own. My fav is prob the bonda....watching the things being prepared live.., is an experience of a lifetime. My first time trying Gujrati snacks n I am hooked... The readymade stuff is just as good....got chivda, papri, mathri..I spent a lot of time getting all of these on one plate.. Trust me .., it was not easy but I am pleased with the result to show for it!!!!
situated right beside silver oak nd near the lake petrol pump... this is an old snacks eatery satiating the vegetarians nd the veg snack lovers.
their khasta kachoris are yummy... a bit over priced though.... but may be to maintain their topnotch quality. they have a very wide range of fried stuff... one would get lost as to what to order!!
happy snacking:)
Good 'Gujju' snacks, but unfortunately to keep pace with the local taste some of the authentic recipes have undergone modification. Otherwise very good stuff.
It is situated opposite to lake petrol pump. A complete vegetarian junction where i love to go to have yummiest dhoklas and samosas. A wide range of vaagies and gaathias, chanachur and khaakras, papads with a variety of sweets like gulab jamun, jalebi, petha, gujiya. They also have vegetable sandwitches which i like a lot. Dine in is not available but price is very reasonable and pocket friendly. A must visit for vaagi lovers.
Location: Beside Silver Oak, Sarat Bose Road.
This is the other outlet of Saurashtra Nimki House.
This place has the same items on offer as the one at Sambhunath Pandit Street (Near Balwant Singh Eating House) and pleasingly the quality is just the same. :)
Being quite near to my place, at times of unexpected guest arrivals, this place has come to the rescue with it's delicious tea-time snacks (Mixture, Chips etc.) and quick bites (Samosa, Onion samosa, Chilli Pakoras, Vada Pav etc).
This outlet just as the other one, is preferred as a takeaway counter but, is bit less crowded compared to the other outlet.
The staff is polite and the service is quick.
Prices are pocket friendly.
In conclusion, this place (both the outlets) has never disappointed me. :)
This is the best bhujia store..most often i go there and pick my fav snacks..its close to my university so just indulge in the variety of evening snacks..its walking distance from lake kalibari towards sarat bose road..
i love their khakra which is awesomee, thepla, bhavnagri, kaju ,boonde, nimki, chanchur mixtures, fuchkas ,dry samosa..are the things i like here...most of the time i take nimkis and khakra ,sometimes dalmout also..i find it as the best stop for snacks and titbits..
just love this place..food is fresh and service is very cordial..price is ok here not steep ..in totality saurashtra is a great place if u want to taste some dry snacks..:)
I visit this place often to pick up gathia,mixture,bhujia and other such stuff to store at home! This by far is the best "bhujia" shop in the city... I dont miss on the dhokla here whenever am there.... I love it and specialty the red chutney with it! They are quick and that's the best part about it;

Saurashtra nimki house is another favourite for indian snacks and tit bits. This ones located in sarat bose road, there is one more outlet in elgin road(close to gurudhwara). Im in love with their mirchi pakoda, which is the best i have ever had.The "pyaaz samosa" is good too(but anna ras serves equally good pyaaz samosa). The dhokla is very excellent here, really soft and fluffy, just how i like it.Whenever youre here you tend to overeat :p Prices are veryyy reasonabe here.Sweets like kalakand are tasty .Also i take their masala suhali back home, and i keep myself well stocked on this.
Saurashtra nimki house is a very good place for typical indian breakfast of samosa kachori and you go back home with the lingering taste of jalebis and packets full of their tit bits(read suhali, chips, etc)
I make sure that I stop by at Saurashtra's every time I visit the Laxmi Narayan Temple here. My regular treat from Saurashtra's is their CHOWMEIN ROLL!! It's a must try for everyone I would say.. and I love their vadapaos too which tend to vanish away very fast. Being a big fan of jalebis I tried out one but didn't find it much impressive - it had this rose water flavour infused in it which I didn't like much. The fafdas are delectable and their rice dhokla also deserves a special mention - it is a good option if you are looking for something very filling and it'd keep you satiated for almost 3 hours. The shop also spoils you with their vast array of dry snacks like aloo and banana chips, papdi, gathia, jhaal arum chips, chanachur and so on. The methi theplas stay fresh for long and is perfect for travelling. Saurashtra's also boasts a lot of melt-in-the-mouth sweetmeats...GO FOR 'EM!
Perfect place to relish Gujrati and Rajasthani snacks, I had aloo bada, mirchi bada, khandvi, Pyaz katchori, Ladoo and thin jalebis, everything was very satisfactory gastronomically. Must go place if you are into namkeens.
If you relish Gujrati and Rajasthani snacks like khandvi, alu bada, dhokla, mirchi bada and sweets like motichoor ladoo and jalebi you must visit. Prices are also reasonable.
Saurashta is a household name when it comes to nimki and farsaan . Their products are always fresh and they make delicious stuff. In a punjabi household one always needs munchies . Especially for evening teas as well as Midnight munching.
The jaali chips and the jhaal chips are delicious . I simple love the gathia , muthias, dhoklas , fafdas, all their besan pruducts are nice .
they make this mixture on the spot as per your customization which is delicious too . My mom is huge fan for their banana chips . I always end up buying their khakra and thepla . they make a really delicious wada pao too .
I owe knowing this place to my mother who swears by the namkeen available here. The staple invaders from Saurashtra at my place comprise a pretty big list - gatia, dhokla, thepla, samosa, onion samosa and chanachur. I absolutely LOVE all of these items and just because they have been brought from here.
The best part about Saurashtra is the oil they use. I have had huge amounts of gatia at a go with tea in the evening and been absolutely fine unlike what one would normally expect. My mom has her ocd of asking the guy at the counter to pack the masala that comes with the gatia separately and everytime they comply. It is a must mention that they pack really well making sure that the contents are crisp and can be stored for a good enough time. I have parceled gatias to my friends when they have been away from the city, just because they loved it and demanded so. Gatias normally are a little thick leaving an oily, baking powder taste in the mouth. The Saurashtra gatias are another story altogether, they taste brilliant, leaving no remnants of oil or soda. Their gatias go in the chanachur too, thus kilos always in stock at my place. :)
I would definitely ask everyone to try their dhoklas and theplas, served with three different chutneys. It tastes absolutely light, fluffy, tasty, fresh and delicious. After having dhoklas here I have not been able to appreciate the other kinds available in the city. Same story with the onion samosas. The fact that something namkeen can make the mouth water can only be understood at Saurashtra.
My midnight hunger attack just got aggravated while writing this and I shall help myself to a bowl of gatia right away. *_*

For a reasonable price, Saurashtra offers the choicest of farsan, sweets and other snacks such as chips and spring rolls. The service is impeccable. Always efficient and fast. So try out this joint once.
This is one of the best places for Nimki's and Farsan in the city .... and has a huge following ..... their Gathia, Bhujiya and Mixture is right up there with the best and their dhokla is a personal favourite. The samosas and khasta kachoriare also very good which they serve with three types of chutney. The thepla and khakra and chips as well as the other snacks are very good as well. This place is highly recomended and for all you vada pao lovers they make a good vada pao as well !

I like to have nimkis bhujias etc. This is a shop from where i buy them. The Bhujia is out of the world,,,,its location is very easy to find....its located at just beside Silver Oak at Sarat Bose Road,,,,almost opposite of Mandarin.
The Kaju Barfi and Son Papdi is very tasty and the chilly chips is the best of all.
Prices are reasonable.
I would rate 3.5 for Saurashtra Nimki House.
Today on 2nd December 2023 my mom went to morning walk to Sarat Bose Road after her morning walk was over she bought 5 pieces of Pyaaz ka samosa for Rs. 10/- each from Saurashtra Nimki House, Southern Avenue. We all had it for our breakfast and I am having Pyaaz ka samosa from Saurashtra Nimki House, Southern Avenue after 10 long years since 2013. We all enjoyed ourselves and this is my favourite place to have Pyaaz ka samosa. Thank you so much Saurashtra Nimki House for making my day amazing π.
Amazing collection and good variety of desi gujrati snacks, now popular among one and all in the city. Affordable and the shop is at a good location in South Kolkata. We needed stuff to carry in flight so they managed to pack each and every item very neatly. π
It's a small takeaway shop in the sarat Bose road and Southern Avenue crossing very near to lake Kali bari.
They serve some very authentic and really tasty gujrati snacks like varities of dhokla , fafda , thepla etc. Their namkeen is equally of high quality and good taste. I particularly loved their chutneys which were delicious and freshly made with best quality ingredients. I didn't try the sweets but from the look I could judge they were good. It's a must go place for someone craving some gujrati snacks in kolkata.
Their recent Chola Batura and Pav Bhaji is tastes very nice. They should maintain it.

Perfect place for mouthwatering gujrati snacks and namkeen in this area. You get really good dhokla and other gujrati snacks. Apart from that good place to buy namkeen too. When i stayed nearby use to shop from this place for namkeens and chips
Great place for yummy gujrati breakfast.
Khadvi, Dhokla, Fafda & Pathra are must tries.
The chutneys are yummy which are served as accompaniments
Most of their products are very tasty & fresh . Yes it is little over priced .
A good place to get all kinds of Gujarati snacks and delicacies along with local favorites. They serve fresh and hot snacks in the morning.
Gujarati snack has become famous for quite some time now, thanks to popular tv shows based on gujarati families and 3 idiots I must say π. Jokes apart, if you are craving for authentic gujarati snacks then this is the right place. Dhokla, fafda, khandvi and many more such delicacies at reasonable prices. They even have sandwiches, samosas and kachoris for a quick bite.
Is a very good place & saurashtra nimki was well tasty π
Each of the items are fresh and really tasty..Best is to buy multiple items small packets and truly enjoy...
Their quality of chips, snack items is good.
