Authentic oriya food available. I ordered veg thali and mutton handi. Mutton handi was so delicious. All food were tasted very good. Also tried bdahi began which is one of my favourite dish. Prawns was not available. Next time will definitely try prawns.

We ordered one veg thali,one pakhala thali,chhattu patra poda(baked mushroom in mustard sauce),mahurali macha bhaja(anchovies fried with onion tomato and chilli).
Veg thali had bhata(rice),dalma(daal with vegetables),aloo barbati bhaja(potato cowpea fry),aloo chatuni(mashed potatoes with tadka),saga(amaranth fry),khata(pumpkin tomato tamarind sauce),khiri(rice pudding),matar tarkari(dried yellow peas curry).
Pakhala thali had pakhala(Rice with water and curd tempered with mustard grains and curry leaves),aloo barbati bhaja,saga,aloo chatuni,matar tarkari,badi chura(dried lentil cake powdered with mustard oil).
Thalis were good. Mushroom and fish were amazing.
A very good outlet serving odia cuisine at nominal rates and warm hospitality.

This was probably my third or fourth visit. Went for bamboo mutton but was not available sadly. Ordered Mutton Thali and must say it was really tasty. Quality was superb, quantity could have been better. Prices are bit pinchy on pockets and on increasing side. But perfect for family foodies. Also lunch time will be good for more items from menu.

Went for a Veg thali and I must say it was the best authentic food I had in long long time . Rice,Dal,Saag everything was perfectly made without any too kuch spice.Quantity was good too and price too reasonable . Must visit if you want something authentic.

Authentic place to have mutton prepared in traditional way. You walk few steps ahead of Decathlon, just beside Bistro Y, there is this family restaurant. We had gone for dinner and one challenge was there is no roti. Check out the special ones for the day. Have some 'chhana pora' in deserts.
This is small joint for odiya food. Stopped here for a weekend lunch. We had mutton thali, sag bhaja, dahi fish and chhena pora as dessert. Loved the homely taste of the food. Staff are courteous. Decor is decent. Good place to enjoy with family.
Specially good for Odia people, other also like the taste of mati handi Curry(chicken/Mutton) and thali. Pakhala thali is the best over here. More than 50 times I had my lunch over here. Also I like the music over there.
Went there for lunch. It was a nice experience, the food was really good both the mutton and the khatta lived up to my expectations. Only thing is the waiter was very polite but lacked knowledge on the dishes on the menu. But this tiny flaw can be overlooked very easily
So all of a sudden we decided to have something nice. And near our office we have a few choices but the best one which is a little different from being conventional is Dalma; amazing Oriya cuisine which just rejuvenates our taste buds everytime we are here.
This time we took a veg thali along with a chicken matihandi and some rice. Amazed at the quantity of gravy that handi contained, rice on both of our plates with as easily engulfed in the gravy. The taste of the chicken and the gravy was simply heavenly. The small bowls in the veg thali were full of tasty surprises; the aloo ucche bhaja, the saag bhaja, the aloo chokha uff mind-blowing. To end things off we shared the thick milky payash in our thali and some chena poda..
All in all an experience worth a repeat alteast once a month..

Great great great place. I am a vegetarian and I absolutely loved the chhena tarkari ( paneer curry ). It was just like home. The roti were thin and soft so as the parathas. My friend had mati handi chicken and it was great too. Loved the ambience. All sorts of Odia movie posters were there. Will definitely visit again to try pakhala thali.
For oriya people like me it's the only shining light in the desert. Although near the restaurant there are restaurants but not with oriya cuisine. So this is the place where you will get the felling of odiya thali. Really impressive with the food although the quantity could have been more. #pakhala thali is the one i liked the most. There are also many other things you can try. A must go for all the odiyas who are having their office in salt lake or college more area.
I love this place, authentic oriya cuisine. The dishes are tasty not much spicy , thali is sufficient in amount. The chana items are must try it's just awesome in taste. The staffs are courteous and most importantly it is extremely budget friendly.

This place serves you authentic Odiya food. Located in Sector 5, very close to Shaila Towers.
Plenty of options to try from, however, you must not miss their Thali. As this being the first time, me visiting the outlet for lunch, I wasn't sure about what to order except the few recommendations I already had for this place.
Kicked off the hunger starting with a Veg Thali and also ordered in MatiHandi Mutton, Bamboo Mutton and Chingudi Chhecha.
Taste - 4/5, Ambiance - 3/5, Staff Courtesy/food handling - 5/5
With two scoops of rice, 1 cup dalma, 2 cups of different gravies, aloo paneer, and two veg fry (dry), the veg thali seemed complete. No extra charges for refilling your thali except the rice (please ensure to check with the waiter regarding the same).
The most talked about and one of the very famous dishes of Orissa is the Mathihandi Mutton. A mix of spices and medium chopped mutton slow cooked in clay pot and served in same. Great taste, amazingly soft and juicy meat, mild spicy.
Medium minced mutton pieces mixed with spices cooked in a Bamboo. Smokey flavour, burnt texture are the main highlights of Bamboo Mutton dish and will definitely tickle your taste buds.
Chingudi (prawn) Chhecha (grounded) - Boiled shell-free prawns with onion, garlic and chillies are finely grounded and served. No spiced cooking is involved in this.
Chhena Poda - a baked cheese dessert in the end to counter the sweet craving. Definitely a place to try again and again until you have tried the complete menu. Not much a fan of sea-food except Prawns, this place is a wonderland for sea-food and meat lovers.
P.S. Add salt as per your taste buds, as for me it seemed a little lesser in the food items.

Among the hustle and bustle of Sector 5 and numerous fancy restaurants, Dalma stands out serving authentic Oriya cuisine at pocket friendly prices. The place is packed during the lunch time.
Since one is not familiar with the names, best way to start is take their fixed thali, veg, fish, chicken, mutton or prawn. The thali comes with rice, dal, aloo chokha, and the side dish one orders. The quantity is apt for the office lunch not being too heavy to make you sleepy post lunch.
My favorite is the mutton thali and the masala prawn curry. Also, one can try the mutton liver fry if you have the liking for it. Overall a good clean place serving simple yet tasty food.

If you take a thali to go you are in for big trouble. The number of items and the thali boxes don’t match. So you want to have authentic Orissa food Dalma is the place.

If you are a Bong and want to try a little bit different taste of contemporary dishes then you must visit. Chicken Kosha was too good. And staffs were very friendly.
It is located near the IIHM sector v, salt lake, a small place where you can feel the flavours of Odisha. Went there many times, every time ordered the Thali, having lots of items. The decoration was good and very clean.
This was my first venture to any food joint serving proper Oriya cuisine. The restaurant is themed with Oriya films and sitting arrangement is pretty decent.
I had opted for mutton thali which had arrived pretty quick, courtesy to their good staffs and management. The thali came with plain rice, dal, a vegetable dish and obviously mutton. All three pieces of mutton were well cooked, soft and tasty. The price was 200 bucks for the thali which has been properly justified by the quality and quantity of the food.

The special veg thali was a lovely introduction to Odiya cuisine for me. I especially enjoyed the dalma and kheer. Just right portions. Very reasonably priced. Just a little more aloo than I would have liked but had expected. As a lover of baingan and dahi, I wish the dahi baingan was included in the thali :) Surprisingly, the restaurant had its own personality, quite some thought has been put into creating a warm ambience.

This was my first visit to this place, which forms the part of the chain of Dalma restaurants in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The food quality is awesome particularly the bamboo mutton or the smoked mutton. And of course the mourola fry. The joint has its unique decorum with posters and theme as it showcases the classic Oriya film concepts. And this is an interesting thing for me. This ethnic food joint is superbly well maintained and it nurtures ethnic Oriya culture.

The restaurant is supposed to be a thematic one. Theme being "Odisha". The decor on the wall and the music tries to bring that out. But the effort does not really gives u a feel of Odisha. Simply putting posters of few Odia Movies wont do it. Rather than that they should put some posters of Great men and women of Odisha from different fields and write something on them on their walls. That way Odia people will get the feel of their own state and Non odia people will get to know things about their neighboring state they usually dont know.
Staff is friendly. The food is generally tasty. Now i wont claim that its the real authentic odia cuisine but still they are pretty close. Chinguri Dalma (Prawn Dalma) is a must have. This is one dish that is a speciality of Odisha just as sambhar is a speciality of south. Every Non odia should have this. Coming to other stuffs on the menu , i liked Naria bara tarkari (coconut kofta), Baunsha pora mangsa (Meat cooked in bamboo stem), matti handi mutton and Crab curry are delicious. Moreover they are pocket friendly as well..
Authentic Odiya food at it's best in Kolkata , pokhal- bhaat, bori-churna, mouth watering preparation of fishes (prawn, pompret, rohu) and crabs . One may also try sada pulao and kukuda curry or mutton करी too. Awesome array of desserts like kheeri and chhena pora. Highly recommended.
Delicious homely Oriya Cuisine ... Loved the preparation of all the dishes we ate including Bashe Pora Mutton, Mitti Handi Mutton , Mitti Handi Chicken, Dalma, Fried Rice, Kheer, Green Salad.... The cooking style was typical authentic Oriya. Bashe Pora Mutton and kheer stole the show. It was mind blowing preparation. Would recommend others to have an experience too. Staffs and services were also good. The best part is the cost which is very very reasonable.

As an odia, I love to have food here. It feels like home. I ordered dahi pakhala which is famous odia dish. Another thing I love about old odia movie songs. Nice preparation and you can found old odia movie posters hanging on wall.
From office we visited this odissa special resturent twice..moreover they started serving food at our office canteen also that time..

Dalma serves authentic Odia cuisine, at a very reasonable rate! It was a very nice experience and my family and I being hard core fan of anything Odia ( be is saree or saak) thoroughly enjoyed it! We took the Fish thali, and a veg thali. The Dalma and the veggie served with the fish ( rohu cooked in mustard) was great! And to keep things interesting we also had the Chena tarkari ( cottage cheese dumplings in spicy gravy) and Nadia Bara tarkari ( ground lentils made into dumplings and a curry made out of it). Odia cuisine is very much like out very own Bengali ranna, except they mainly used toasted and ground spices as opposed to our pastes... And it gives the cuisine a very strong and nutty flavour which I love! Eager to go back for more.
PS: Don't know if it is the same chain but there is a Dalma in Puri, which is awesome too!!!
As a bengali i'm a big fan of Oriya food and for that this should be your first destination. I ordered Mutton Thali which had the same taste like household mutton made by mom. and dont miss to try the desserts. the staffs are also well behaved.

Ambience and decor is so so. The walls are full of Oriya movie pictures.
Coming to food it is obviously less spicy or oily but taste wise it is no less. It is best to take a veg thali along with a chicken side dish. In the veg thali they will serve with a full course meal from fries to dessert. I loved their kheeri in dessert.
Overall if you want to have a homely full course lunch with low pocket pinch, dalma is one of the best option.

I am a wholehearted lover of North Indian cuisine and my visit to Dalma, at Sector 5, Salt Lake, fulfilled my cravings to the fullest. I went there with some of my colleagues on a weekday to have my lunch and it was entirely an outstanding experience. In spite of being a non vegetarian, I preferred to choose veg dishes as suggested by my colleagues.
I didn’t have to regret after opting the veg preparations as they were totally occupied with the uttermost delicacies. That day, I filled my tummy with Paratha, Dalma, Aloo Phulkobi and Chena Tarkari. According to me, the last one was the best. It was a unique combination of cottage cheese and odia gravy. I was wholly amazed with its daintiness. Lastly, I added a sweet touch to my meal with mouth-watering Tamato Khata that was a sweetened cooked chutney prepared with tomatoes. Kheeri and Gulab Jamun were the add-ons that allowed me to become speechless with their divine tastes. Well, I must not forget to include the awesome hospitality of the staffs and the marvelous surroundings of the place that assisted us to make the moment quite special and worth remembering.

Had lunch here on saptami this puja...small cosy place.warm service.very reasonable price...veg thali had a number of items and quantitatively sufficient..but lacks authenticity of oriya taste...may be there customising the recipe to some extent as they are serving in kolkata...crab and mutton were finger licking through... overall good experience... pocket friendly...good food... appreciated and recommended!

This place is close to my office and so, i went there for having lunch. After that, i made several visits to this place. I had never tasted oriya food and was pretty excited. The food at Dalma was beyond my expectations. It was super tasty and I loved each item they served. I had both non-veg and veg-thali at several ocassions and both of them were just wow! I wanted to try that cake-type sweet (I forgot the name) they kept at their pantry counter...I remember having it at Odisha during my visit and I loved it. Will definitely try dat sweet by my next visit to Dalma. The staff were very good..ambience was fine....yes..it gets a bit crowdy specially during the lunch hours....though I was lucky to get seats each time I visited there.

Dalma serves authentic odiya cuisine. Decor and service is ordinary. Food is really good. We ordered Dalma, Rice, roti, Nadia Bara tarkari, chingudi tarkari and chhena Poda, kheeri. Dalma was good and like normal dal. Nadia Bara tarkari and chingudi tarkari was really good. Traditional chhena Poda was good. It was worth to visit and try odiya cuisine in Dalma.
Value for money. Food cooked just like Maa... Unique dal, with veggies (Orissa Daal) mutton curry, unlike other restaurants, was not rich and oily, but subtle yet super delicious. Loved sniffing my palm even after washing my hands! Visit during weekends, that way you can cut through the lunch-hour rush and get a table!
I had the opportunity for lunch all by myself somewhere near Infiniti Bldg. But I decided to walk down in the rains to Dalma. I have had elaborate lunch from Dalma Bhubaneswar about 5 years back and missed the food. I went for a Mutton thali which consisted of ample amount of rice, Dalma, bhindi bhaji and mutton in ample quantity. The pieces were good and the gravy was divine.. I ended the meal with a piece of Chena puro .. the bill was just Rs225/-.
Ambience is basic and neat decorated in Oriya Film theme. I was delighted to see our own Rachana Bannerjee's poster amongst Anubhav Mohanti and other stars.. I will surely go for Chunguri mas, Pomfret and crab on my next visit which should be on a holiday to enjoy the best of Dalma ..

I Visited this place on 13th July 2016 for lunch. I ordered Odiya Thali and Matihandi Chicken... This was first time when I tasted such an awesome authentic Odiya food.
I am extremely satisfied with thier thali menu along with Chena poda as dessert.

What can I say - we Odiyas need our fix and where better to find it than in Dalma - a restaurant specializing in dishing out some decent Odiya cuisine. Instead of sitting and eating at the restaurant, I decided to pack my food home and it was worth every penny. The bhaata, dalma, saaga bhaja - everything tasted fairly good and I was genuinely pleased with the quality of the food here. I would love to come back again soon.
Dalma is a mixture of selected vegetables with Dal and its taste + flavor both are awesome. This is a place one should try at least once, if you live in Saltlake or near by areas.
Serves Odiya cuisine. Cheap and good place to remember home if you are an Odiya. Ambience isn't all that great but given the costs it is not bad.
Location is a good one and the interior is average. The special dalma(the odia daal) was not so special. I liked the handi chicken though, the chicken was properly cooked and looked fresh. The quantity is a little less though the prices are quite cheap in comparison to other restaurants. Should give it a try.
This is one of my favorite place in Sec V Salt Lake. When we used to work nearby, we would often visit this place for lunch. Their veg and non veg Thali were equally good. The Dalma, Chicken curry, mutton curry, Pokhalo, Chena Pora prepared there was all awesome. Hope they open another outlet someday in Rajarhat, we can all enjoy the Odiya Delicacies again..

"Authentic Odishan Cuisine" is what aptly describes the restaurant. Dalma is located in the IT hub area of Kolkata, near Sector 5. I was literally impressed by the overall experience during my visit. The Mutton Thali that I tried was nothing short of amazing. The quantity and the quality, both justify the price that this restaurant asks from you. The Kheer also tasted delicious.

They serve amazing Odia food with lots of variety and pocket friendly prices. After hearing praises from my Odia friends, finally ordered Veg thali from here. Cost--100 INR. Taste--awesome, every item had its own unique homely taste. Quantity - I would say it was more than sufficient for me as there were many items--rice, dalma, veg curry, chokha, saag, chutney, bhaja, salad, sweet.The two pics posted are from a single order just to show the quantity. It's a feast and amazing for the soul. Delivery is super fast. Packaging - as there are so many items they give in silver polypacks with rubberband so you need to have cutlery to eat these. The only issue I faced was that I ordered roti in the thali and they sent rice. But overall very good, will order again.

The name Dalma comes from Dal which includes a lots of veggies. The thalis (Chicken, Mutton, Fish) are available only in lunch time. The best dish is Mati Handi Mutton (4pcs).
Me & my wife have our lunch today@Dalma,Kolkata.We took one Special Veg Thali,One Veg Thali,One Rohi Machha masala.
The complete meal was good. We loved it. The staffs were quite professional.
I have good experience with Dalma-Bhubaneswar & Dalma-Puri too.

Dalma is a hotel dedicated to Odiya film industry. If you glance around in the hotel, you can see all the posters of old movies which shows evolution of Odiya Film industry. Food was good, moderate price but good taste. Hotel is well maintained and staffs are super friendly.
This restaurant is located near tcs gitobitan so whenever i have my any exams in tcs gitobitan this restaurant becomes the best place for our lunch..As a odia & a vegetarian I often like to order veg thali that is around 100 rupees and Dalma special veg thali is just awesome i.e around 160 rupees my husband mainly likes the pakhala non veg thali that costs 120 rupees...ODIA cuisine ROCKS

Decently priced Odia home style food. We had veg thali with morala fish bhaja and matihandi mutton. Food was tasty.
Street side parking. Usually crowded during lunch hours as it's in an office area. Staff is friendly.
You may need to climb 4-5 steps in case you have walking difficulty or have elderly person accompanying you.

Found this precious place hidden in Sector V! The "Udia" restaurant is perfecto for the Udia people looking for their cuisine! Not too expensive, per head cost for a 2 course meal would be 150!

Awesome homely food. Veg/Fish/Chicken/Mutton thali is the most popular dish here. Rest of the menu is slightly in the upper side of the budget according to the standard of the place. Good for quick service during lunch hours.
If you want to have a flavor of typical oriya food then a must try for all foodies . Only drawback is they don't do the home delivery. All staffs are friendly and menu is well within pocket . Visit when you are hungry to satisfy your stomach .

Great great great place. I am a vegetarian and I absolutely loved the chhena tarkari ( paneer curry ). It was just like home. The roti were thin and soft so as the parathas. My friend had mati handi chicken and it was great too. Loved the ambience. All sorts of Odia movie posters were there. Will definitely visit again to try pakhala thali.
