Went there to grab our dinner and went straight for their thakroon special thali and thakroon mutton thali. The interior was cozy was service was swift. Each item tasted great but the dal and Curries are bit too sweet for my taste. Mutton was cooked to perfection. But the light of this place could have been brighter. It will be much better then.
Visited to give "aiburobhaat" to my frnd. Small cozy restaurant. Very simple by looks. But the food indeed is not simple, rather its extraordinary. Ordered jompesh chicken thali along with chitol muitthar jhaal. Complimentary cold drinks were also served. Thaali included basmati rice, 2 luchis, sukto, moong daal, jhurjhure aloo vaja, mixed veg with barbati-aloo-begun, chicken, aamer chatni, papad, rosogolla and mutsuddi.
Now coming to the taste.... It was awesome, each item tasted wonderful, cooked to its perfection.
Waiters were courtesious.
Most importantly, they didn't charged tax or GST. Hence, it was really pocket friendly.
Excellent food is all I can say. I ordered for the first time from here.... Just amazing food. Great quality..... I'd really like to speak to the owner to give him my wishes.... My number is 9818044922....wud wait for his call.....
This restaurant is in gariahat just opposite to the gariahat fire station. They serve authentic bengali cuisine. I visited to this restaurant with my family for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was fairly empty with only a couple of tables occupied. Now coming to the food, we ordered plain rice, shukto, sona moog dal, jhurjhure aloo bhaja, sonali mourola bhaja, thakroon special tel koi, thakroon special kola patay bhetki, thakroon special daab chingri, kosha mangsho, dak bungalow mutton and amer chutney. Most of these items were good in taste. While the rest could have in better. For instance, shukto, kola patay bhetki, kosha mangsho, amer chutney these items were very good. The amount of plain rice per plate was not enough. And somehow the dak bungalow mutton could have been better. Nevertheless, it was a good lunch. The waiting time was also pretty fine. A better consistency in food is expected the next we visit. Cheers to bangaliyana. Cheers to the team.
Awesome food. Authentic Bengali cuisine. It's always a treat being in Kolkata and relishing Bengali food. Daab prawns and fish in sarson bata were yumm. Service is good. Ambience as per price is not right. Owner should invest a bit in the decor :-)
This place is in my favourite list..
I love the food..a typical Bengali essence!
My favorite is the Bhetki Manohara and hanser dimer kaalia..ahh! The taste is too good.I always recommend people to visit this place.
Great service and great food..
I am love with this place.
Thank you
I am a regular customer and a fan of this restaurant. I really love their simplicity. I tried their Daftari thali,jampesh thali and many more individual dishes. Today I tried their khichdi combo meal nd trust me it was simple yet delicious just like ma k haat ka Banaya hua khichdi . Highly recommended for those who love "ghar ka khana".
It was my 1st time here.
Ordered -
1. Dimer devil with keema - Not up to the mark could have been better.
2. Postor Bora - Kind of ok but should have been served a bit hot.
3. Vaat - Ok , quantity should be improved (had to take 4 Rice for 3 people).
4. Sona Mugh Daal - Not bad but it was too sweet for my likings.
5. Jhuri Aloo Bhaja - Bad as it was not crunchy and was cold when it was served
6. Vetki in Kola Pata (Basically Paturi) - It was really nice the quality of fish was also good.
@7. Chicken Kosha - Very nice.
8. Mutton Kosha - Very nice the mutton was nicely tendered.
9. Mihidana With Ice Cream - Good concept and taste was also nice .
10. Rabri - The Rabri was good but way to expensive for a restaurant of this category. Rs.160 for Rabri (hardly 100g to 150g we're served).
Over all ambiance was good and service was also ok.
It's a pretty descent place for Bengali cuisine. I was accompanied by a friend and we took non veg thali. Personally I felt it to be descent and worthwhile experience. And I definitely want to visit the place again....

This is in the same place where the gariahat branch of dhaba used to be...nice cosy place...was empty when i went there even on a weekend evening...tried their khichuri combo,topshe fry and trikona porota with hasher dim...food was really good and at a reasonable price...the khichuri was served cold but on complaining they immediately heated all the items without any fuss
Went der to hv lunch one fine day while strolling in gariahat...ordered kosha chicken aar maacher jhaal moong daal sukto aloo bhaaja n rice...food ws good no doubt n d ambience was nice n clean...infact I ordered for 2 haath rooti which took 20mins to come and we were jus waiting fr it... service definitely needs to improve...
Nice ambience. Food is good. Quantity could be increased. But unfortunately the food was served cold. Otherwise this place deserves 4 out of 5.
This was a much awaited visit to this place serving bengali delights at its best. The taste of food over here is something that will be on anyone's tongue tip forever. We were very disappointed to see that they are nt serving the Jompesh thali today due to puja. We ordered luchi and aloo dum supported by Basanti pulao and Chicken Duckbanglow. I liked the chicken most as it was tender and spicy. The staffs are courteous as well and we are sure that we will again hopp in for some other dishes soon.
Awesome food ...Kachu sag, dab chingri, posto bora, peyaj posto, pabda Mach , mutton , ufff ...over all fatafati ...... and gorom Mihi Dana ice cream was delicious......just yummy .
The food was sumptuous and with proper quantity. First we asked for gondhoraj chicken, it was their speciality it seems. Perfectly crunchy and yumm wjile leaves you asking for more. We ordered one special thali including fish( bhetkir paturi) and mutton and the combo of pulao and mangsho. Ilisher jhaal was ordered and they didn't disappoint at all. The second helping of the pulao was a bit half hazard thus giving a sense of frenzy.
The decor was a bit boring but clean. Easily accessible from Gariahat more, it is a gem I will keep going for more as it was quite pocket friendly as well as tasteful.
We will plan to have a lunch by next week, just want to know that is there all dishes being available round the week, whichever mentioned in the list? Rating is mandatory for post, guess same shall be remain unchanged after visit

We were looking for a quick dinner before a movie. Coming down the street from golpark to gariahat,suddenly the name 'thakroon' caught our eyes. As we love the bengali traditional food,we decided to drop in.
The decor isn't too fancy but has a cozy feel. Then we got the menu card. I would give a special thumbs up for the little innovation on the menu card,the short stories about the bengali food,bengali culture. It definitely adds a lot to the bengali nostalgia.
We ordered the mutton thali.
Coming to the food.
It had basamati rice(which might not be enough for a person,but as there were other items it was enough for me)
Luchi (2 pieces)
Sukto (it tasted okayish)
Muger dal (muger dal was really nice and I liked the most)
Mixed vegetable curry (had nothing much to say about this,its added only to increase the number of the items in thaali.neither tastes too bad also.)
Mutton curry ( this was not for me but my friend,and according to him it was the best part of the thaali,spicy red gravy with 3 small pieces of mutton )
Chatney
Papad
Rasogolla
Cold drinks
And as Im an ardent lover of vegetarian dishes. I ordered chanar dalna. A dish for which my mouth starts watering,even by the name of it. So besides the mug er dal,chhana r dalna was supposed to be my main course. But it left me downright disappointed. The chhana r dalna was anything that I would not want to taste. It was too sweet with no other flavours. I had to finish my rice with the help of dal and sukto only.As I literally couldn't further gulp down the chanar dalna.
The stuffs were courteous. Service was really quick.
As we had to catch up the movie we wanted it quick and got the order within 7 minutes.
I would have loved to visit the place again but the chhana r dalna is making me scared again. :D
CCLP - Chorbo Chossho Lejyo Peyo....bhalo laglo...Triptir Dhekur o Tullam.......Service needs to be pulled up....a little touch of warm antorikota would surely create the place more welcoming....
Authentic Bengali food after a tiring day is always refreshing. This place tried to blend Bengali Cinema's nostalgia with it's cuisine nicely. The Thakroon special thali was the order,indeed it was special. Opted for the Tiger prawn variety. Portion was barely enough for two. At the price point which was a little disappointing. Interiors was decent ,Service was prompt.
Food -4.8/5
Service- 4.5/5
Interiors- 4.8/5
Awesome food specially Bhetki chingri monohora... fish chop....kochu pata chingri bhapa...chittol muitha...mutton duckbunglow...kacha aam posto talk...lebu kancha lonka sorbot....Just lipsmacking dishes....
Just go for it
Nice Bengali restaurant tucked away in the bylane off Gariahat road, close to Hindustan park. Good elaborate Bengali menu. Being a bong, we are hard to please with Bengali food. But this place good. Homely Bengali food. Service was prompt. We ordered very basic Bengali food, with which you can't go too wrong anyway. Servers were helpful. We went on a Sunday afternoon. The place was getting crowded very fast. So if you want to enjoy a good meal, you should be there by 1pm. The prices are very reasonable plus they don't charge GST as they are within 1 year of opening. Only thing that i didn't like was the decor and ambience. They can improve that to give a feel of what they are serving in their restaurant.
Recently I went to this place with my parents. The food quality is awesome at this place. We ordered:
Luchi( there were four large pieces. They were very soft, very crunchy, the most perfect luchis I ever had)
Chicken dak banglaw( I absolutely loved this dish. Though I felt that the quantity could have been better for the price but the way it was cooked was very good)
Mocha r chop ( the best I would say , out of all the dishes. You should try mocha r chop if you go to this place)
Koraiahuti r kichur( this again was cooked very well)
Alur dum( it was okayish)
Basmati rice, Dal , pomphret bhaja( all the three were cooked very well, and tasted delicious!)
Bhetki r paturi( I felt it was a bit overpriced)
Rabri, gulam Jamuns( lastly the desserts were the best part!)
So I loved this place and would love to go again! The only reason I rated it 4 because I think some of the items are a bit overpriced!
Excellent Bengali food, much better than many over-rated and over-priced restaurants in the vicinity. Hisla and prawn items were awesome. Most of the exotic dishes on the menu were actually available.
Pleasantly surprised by quality of food. Fish chop and meat Chops were awesome, probably the best. Mete chochori was fantastic. However, the best dish of the restaurant was stuffed patol. This was simply superb, the stuffing was with minced prawn . In fact all the items from the restaurant were really good. I would say an hidden gem near Gariahat market. I have tried other big names specialised in bengali cuisine in Kolkata, I will rate this restaurant as the 2nd best after 6, ballygangue place, definitely better than Bhajohari manna, Saptapadi, koshe Kasha, Bijoli grill or tero parbon.

This restaurant is located in Hindustan Park near Gariahat more. It serves one of the best Bengali cuisines in town. I visited this restaurant with my friends on the occasion of Poila Baishakh. (Bengali New Year)
We ordered :
1. Basanti Pulao- The pulao had a sweet and salty taste at the same time and the quantity was also good so we could share one bowl among 2-3 persons. The taste was brilliant and went perfectly with the meat and fish dishes.
2. Kosha mangsho- My favourite mutton curry was cooked perfectly by them with their own unique touch. It was not spicy yet the rich gravy made me lick my fingers. The pulao and kosha mangsho are a perfect match.
3. Daab chingri - they serve the prawns in a thick gravy inside a coconut. The presentation is really impressive. But the quantity is a little less. Tasted very well.
The restaurant is surely to attract everyone who loves Bengali cuisine and also for those who want to try home-cooked Bengali food. The ambience is good, the service is good but were a little slow because of the occasion. The presentation of food is good, the quantity is pretty good. The food tastes brilliant, will give you a feeling as if it's all home-cooked. The price is very reasonable. Do visit this restaurant for amazing Bengali dishes.
Today being a rainy day we decided to sig in to some sumptous bengali food.My friend decided this place called THAKROON which falls in the second left turn while going from golpark to gariahat.We ordered a veg thali and a non-veg mutton thali.The quantity was less for every item they served.We had to order extra rice.There were only 2 small pieces of mutton.Most funny thing was they forgot to serve the welcome drink that was mentioned in the menu card.On being knocked while paying the bill,they served it at the end which totally reverses the meaning of what we understand by the name of "welcome drink" ! Taste of food was ok but being a restaurant in proper south kolkata and serving the authentic bengali cuisine the must be improving their culinary skills as there is no derth of options for placing serving bengali food in this locality.
This place is just near golpark.
We ordered chicken Thali. It was really nice and each and every dish was prepared with utmost care.A perfect pocket friendly Bengali cuisine.
Heard about Thakroon from a friend and so visited on a rainy day for the khichuri combo..They served khichuri , dim bhaja, beguni and chatni. I really found the food very delicious. The ambience was nice and hygienic.However the quantity of the kichuri was bit less.. would love to visit this place for trying the other dishes too..
Small and comfortable place to have a full course bengali lunch or dinner.They have got two types of thalis,the Daftari thali(small one) and the Jampesh thali(bigger one).The items served were quite tasty,especially the shukto which I really loved.But the quantity of rice given is too small to satisfy the tummy of a typical bengali and hence extra rice was ordered,and also the price difference between the two thalis was on the higher side according to me in comparison to the items served.But overall the food was quite good and the staffs were very well behaved and courteous.The location is also quite strategic just in the heart of South Kolkata.So this place can be tried out once in a while to enjoy bengali food outside home.
Its the season of monsoon in kolkata and its traditional try out the heritage cuisines. The excitement increases when you see so many fish preparations .
Being a bengali its just too natural for us to go out and try some hilsa and other fish preparations in variety of places .
So there is this beautiful place in the city named thakroon that could fill my belly with exquisite bengali dishes .
The fish fry with tartar sauce is must try on for newcomers,then one starts of with chingri ,bhetki pabda and illish .
The ending should not be concluded without the kacha aam posto tok .
A great ambience with ouatstanding bengali food .
Awasome food and ambiance .. special thali was very good and delicious .. ☺... mutton ; chingri malaikary ; jurjhure aloo bhaja, chanar dalna; polao all foods are delicious and yummy..
My first time trying a Bengali cuisine and it was worth it✌. It's student friendly too😊. The thali had food that tastes pure homemade food. Maybe Bengali mother's cook like that ❤
This is a new destination for bengali food lovers and a new flavour is the trp.Its located in Hindusthan park just opposite to Gariahat fire station. The ambience is decent and staffs are courteous. We went their for lunch and ordered their Mutton Jompesh Thali and Vetki paturi.The thali is more than sufficient for a single person. It consists of Rice, 2pieces of luchi, mixed veg, daal, jhirijhiri alu bhaja, shukto, 2pieces of mutton,chutney,papad, rosogolla and a glass of soft drink. The taste of each and every item was good and specially the mutton was very soft and the gravy was brown- rich in aroma and flavour. The thali costs 380bucks. The paturi was also good but a bit over priced. But they should improve their service as u may have to wait for atleast 20-25mins to taste the recipes of Thakroon.
Anyone who loves eating and goes numb due to good taste will mop this restaurant's floor if it gives away free food! What a taste! What a taste! Rishira Nandi
Went to this place as we were planning a typical Bengali lunch on a Sunday afternoon & we were more than delighted for visiting this newly opened joint in Hindusthan Park. I give it a full 5 rating only & only for the food which makes everything else seem less important, though they have a really nice ambiance as well with pictures of Feluda, Pahari Sanyal & others hanging on the wall & short sweet stories of food written at the bottom of every page in the menu. Also, staff is very well mannered.. service is prompt. Coming to food, we had rice, kochur loti chingri (which was the best I have tasted till date) & mutton dak bunglow which was equally good. I don't see anything to complain about this place at all.
And they don't charge service tax.
I am visiting this place soon again to try out more of their delicacies!!
You all please do the same!!!
Happy eating 😊
Wow delicious authentic Bengali food
Loved being here
Ordered Pomfret in onion gravy
Fish in mustard gravy
Fish in banana leaf
All exotic
Will visit again
If you're a Bengali food lover... This place ought to be in your bucket list!!! Good ambience .. great food.. Awesome hospitality!! Very impressed.. Gonna visit this place again.. soon!!
This joint is located in between golpark & gariahat market, well known for authentic Bangali cusiene, the location is full of well known Bengali restaurants but this this joint is worth trying, as they served fresh and tastey food upon my first visit, the staffs were very polite and well mannered, however it took a bit log for them to serve which I am sure they will improve in future.
Visited this place in the pujas last year.. Served great Prawn malai curry and The Mutton was very well cooked.. One of the blooming places for sure among Bengali Cuisine and quite affordable.. They always hav good offers.. Planning on a 2nd visit soon..Wanna try the Biriyani they make.. Hoping for some 'Old Thakroon' magic in it.. 😇.. Till thn Keep it up.. 😍

Nice quaint little place situated right at the heart of gariahat street shopping. This place would have otherwised got camouflaged save its arresting name. Quite clear from the name-it serves absolutely traditional bengal cuisine and that does not just mean alu posto and kochi patha jhol but rather dishes from noakhali and dhaka too. The ambiance is amazing with selected art collages of jamini roy or even glory days of bengali cinema. The thalis are very well priced and it serves enough ( more than enough) for one person. I just hope that they do catering then its going to be really amazing !! All thums up. Do go and try this place out !
Hassle-free, timely delivery ✅
Competently, if not distinctively prepared food (we had bhapa murgi + mutton Tile ata) ✅
Portions are large ✅
Fair pricing✅!
Catchy lines and innovative food items.. make thakroon a must try restaurant. Have tried their pinapple and chicken kababs.. til bata mutton..they are must haves!

Heard of this new bengali food joint many times here and there ... So yesterday went there to give a chance to my taste buds and my tummy to enjoy, but the tasse buds were happy but tummy not happy ... Now coming to menu, we ordered for pulao and katla kalia, pulao and mangso (mutton) ... The pulao taste was good but quantity not good for tummy during lunch ... And the katla or the mutton piece was not good and also katla fish had no taste inside (no salt or masala) ... Taste of gravy for both mutton and fish was very good .... Since the tummy was not satisfied had to order for Luchi and chicken kasa, and again chicken piece was not good but taste of gravy was good ... mutton and chicken was cooked well ... At last ordered for aam er chatni, awese taste ; my taste buda were jumping in joy ... Now the best part is when the bill came, n to your surprise is there is no Vat and service tax .... yeaaahhhhh ... My pocket was very happy and the restaurant is very pocket friendly ... For ur info, the restaurant serves thali but it is available only on weekdays ... Ambience of the restaurant was good and service was super fast ... Well behaved waiters ... Will visit again
Loved the place.
Would go there again.
Friends this restro is a must go
Food is good
Have a good time everyone.
Service is nice
Food is cheap
ordered Veg and Non veg Thali online. Great taste and quality. Delivery was significantly late though it was with Zomato. But overall experience was awesome.
Have been to many Bengali restaurants, this made me feel like home. Food so simple yet so full of flavors. The menu is simple and gives you lots of options ,including Thali as well as combo. "Gondhoraj ghol" gives you a refreshing touch and "aloo diye mangshor jhol makes you remember your lazy Sunday afternoon. Though ambience can be improved .
Thakroon a nice place to have traditional bengali cuisine. As it is placed near my work place so visited many times n celebrated my very special life event here with my friends..Ambience is good but i think they can improve more.. n about the food just one word is enough... Delicious.. .. wanna visit again n yeah recommended for those who love to have "bangali khabar"...
Pretty good food, reasonably priced, appropriate quantity in Thaalis. Timely delivered by Zomato as well. Just one suggestion, reduce the temperature of the thaali sealing machine, so it is easier to unwrap.
went there with my friend for lunch today.we had ordered the niramish thali....we felt like home.the food was very tasty especially the mocha.the price is very reasonable.a must visited one for those who love bengali cuisine
If you are walking towards Golpark from Gariahat, then take the alley next to the Raymond showroom. This place is very well known to all those who are from South Calcutta, but even if you are not well aware of this place, the best landmark is the alley next to the famous Murlidhar Girl's College. This place had always been in my checklist, and we dropped in without any prior reservation.
✓ Location- I would give a 5star rating to the location as because it's very easily reachable.
✓ Ambience- There's not much space in this restaurant. It may accomodate approximately 40 heads at a time. There's nothing extravagant about the decor of this place but the soothing colour of the walls and the chestnut colour of the wooden furniture adds to the simplicity. No complaints about the air conditioning system.
✓ Service- We had been to this place on a normal weekday, and naturally the place wasn't crowded at all. But inspite of this, the service was much delayed. But again, the behaviour of the staffs was polite enough. They were cordial and asked us about how the food was.
✓ Food- Last but not the least, the food was really tasty. We had ordered chicken thalis and the wait was worthy enough. Quantity of the food was absolutely sufficient.
✓ Price- On this point I would have to say the prices on the menu are reasonable. No tax was charged on the total bill.
So all over I have rateed Thakoon a big 5 star. I would again visit this place to have old authentic Bengali cuisine again! 😁
Food is not up to the mark.ordered online chicken thali.but the aludam was rotton.They should take care of it.quality of chicken need to improve.very stiff.
Was quite excited when my gf purchased two coupons of chicken thali of Thakroon from nearbuy.. I love our typical Bengali cuisine and Thakroon is one of then who serve that traditionally...
Towards golpark at the lane after Raymond shop this outlet is very easy to locate..
Nice ambiance with simple decor of this restaurant has good sitting arrangement...
Next coming to food.. We took chicken thali which had - white rice, luchi, sukto, alur dom, mochar trkari, daal, alu vaja, chicken kosha, papad, chatni, misti doi, rashogolla and a cold drink...
All the items are too good in taste..individually I'm not saying anything about the food.. Just go and try.. You will defiantly satisfy...
Quantity of the thali is enough for one..and they served within few minutes..
Bengali cuisine is yummmmm... Khub valo khelam.. Thanks to my lady for the treat and thanks to Thakroon for the yum yum food..😋
This bengali cuisine restaurant is located in Hindusthan park and it can be very easily found. From Gariahat towards Golpark follow the right foot and after crossing the Raymond shop it will be in just the next alley. We visited today for lunch and ordered 2 Chicken thalis. We had two nearbuy vouchers worth 238 Rs. Firstly, to describe the ambiance there is just one word simple. The place is quite spacious and it has well sitting arrangements. Our Chicken thali is served within 10 minutes.
Our thali includes,
* Sada vaat
* Dal
* Jhuri alu vaja
* Luchi
* Sukto
* Mochar tarkari
* Alur dam
* Chicken kasha
* Aamer Chatni
* Papad
* Rasogolla
* Misti doi
* Complimentary drink
All these items tasted too good. Firstly the luchi and alur dam is just delicious. Rice is perfect in quantity. Sukto, dal, mocha, alur dam everything just tasted awesome. The chicken kasha needs a special mention. Among all of the served items, I just loved the misti doi. Excellent food quality. If you are searching for authentic Bengali cuisine then Thakroon is definitely recommended. Surely going back to taste other items on their menu.
Very good food quality. ..aswome taste. .well behaved staff and as well as pocket feiendly resturent. .an ideal place to eat bengali food...
Hello Food Lovers,
Today 21st April , visited THAKROON,, ordered 1 chicken thali, and mutton Thali..& শীলে বাটা চিংড়ি
To be very honest find there average quality of food,
Visited many other bengali resturent their both food quality and quantity better than THAKROON..
●Service- 4.5/5
●Food quality -3/5(শীলে বাটা চিংড়ি অসাধারণ 5/5, don't like their chicken)
●Well maintained
● clean and clear restaurant.
Also visited "6 ballygunge place Thali" they didn't charge for extra rice & Curry but THAKROON did ... :-(
Thanks
The tagline reads "70 er doshok er ranna... 1970 noi... 1870!! " The quote is rightfully justified. Located at one of the most prime locations in Kolkata... Thakroon is really good place to dine in with family or friends. The Thakroon special Thaali is really a good package for a person who loves to eat. The best bite here is the Phulko Luchi and Kosha Mangsho. The Roshogolla is also lip smacking good... They serve it hot.
Visited this place after a shopping spree at Gariahat. This place is very conveniently located near the Gariahat Flyover, on the left hand side while moving from Golpark to Gariahat. The Fab India is also a few hundred metres away. No hassles in locating the place. This place has a soothing ambiance compatible with the Bengali tradition it seeks to portray. Coming to the food, we were there for lunch and subsequently we ordered Jhurjhure Aloo Bhaja, Aloo Posto, Hanser Dimer Kalia, and Pabda Shorsher Jhaal to go with Basmati Rice. I would like to emphasize that all the dishes were totally great and very tasty. I am a fan of Aloo Posto, and I have had the dish at many places till date, but I would still rate Thakroon's Aloo Posto as one of the best I have ever had. The Pabda fish was very well prepared too. And not only the quality, the quantity of each of the item dishes was more than sufficient for the two of us. And yet, the total price was very reasonable, compared to other Bengali cuisine restaurants we have tried, and also in comparison to other restaurants in the vicinity of this place. Not only are we recommending this place to all the Bengali food enthusiasts out there, but we already have in mind what we are going to try out next- the Pulao Mangsho Combo Mea
A small but authentic bengali restaurant between Gariahat & Golpark. We went for a lunch there. The menu was more or less similar to that of Kasturi, Bhajohori Manna, Tero Parbon, etc. But the choices of Fish items was pretty impressive. We ordered Sona Moog Daal, Poshto Bara, Shukto, Tel Koi & Shorshe Pomfret. The Posto Bara was a disappointment. However the fish items were very delicious & so were the Shukto & Daal. Ended the lunch with Mishti Doi & Nolen Gurer Ice Cream. Maybe we will return...
I really loved the place..
The ultimate place for having bengali food...the place is okayish..not so decorative.but food is awesome..it feels like am having home made food..its so good!
Bhetki monohora is their signature dish and i have tried this many a times..it is mindblowing!
Loved other dishes also.
Food is very good but quantity is nit that great. Typical 'bangal ranna' so if you're expecting daab chingri to be sweet, think again. Aloo posto is a must try.
The location, ambience & behaviour is very good. We ordered basmati rice, shile bata chingri(1*), dab chingri(4*) & dak bunglow mutton(3.5*). Will like to visit again.
Tried their niramish thali and the combo of tinkona porota + hasher dim er kalia ..
The quality and quantity of the food were too good.
Service and ambiance were also appreciable.
Overall a very nice place to drop by if you want pocket friendly authentic bengali dishes .
It was a rainy day of March last week and we went out for some work at Gariahat. It got late and finally we managed to come across Thakroon near Golpark. Entering with the only expectation of meeting our hunger needs, I must say that we rather took away much more than simply some appetite solutions. We had already heard of this new restaurant that served authentic Bengali cuisine solely with the spices dating back to 1870's or so and indeed the menu card spoke of the same because unlike the other Bengali cuisine food outlets, the items were pretty unfamiliar. Flooded with choices, we finally went for Basmati Rice, Dhakai Ilish Biriyani, Mutton Dhakai Bhuna Keema Masala, Gandharaj Chicken (Starter), Chitol Muitha, Sona Moong Dal, Alu Bhaja and Dab Ice Cream. Every single item tasted extremely delicious and we felt like having more of those. Prices are reasonable and the menu cards accompany some old stories related to great personalities of Bengal during the prime time of Bengal's glory. The combo meals looked exciting as ever along with various other items and we are looking forward to tasting each of these in the future. I would recommend everyone to have a taste of lip-smacking traditional Bengali delicacies here that can hardly be found in the modern Bengali kitchens nowadays.
Thakroon is one of the best Bengali restaurants in south Kolkata.It's at Hindustan park opposite gariahat fire brigade.It's well decorated.Foods are really good and prices are cheap.quantity and quality of the food is also good.here we took mutton thali and chicken thali...their service is also good.
The food is like typical Bengali home style,starting from chochulati chingre to betki phoolkopi jhol.. The menu feature dishes which we like to eat very much but are don't really make it at home. Fish monohara is one of the unique dish of this restaurant it's prawns wrapped in betki and then batter fried, one should definitely try out this dish if ur here. They also have combos and thali but it's not available on weekends. Teen kona porotha and hash ar dim kosha is another attractive dish. There is no expectations for good atmosphere but it's OK, and the main thing is that the menu is very pocket friendly . I am definitely going to come back here again..
Ok so, its a not so popular Bengali cuisine restaurant, nor quite famous one, but sometime you found your match in hidden places. It's not always possible to get the perfect combination of spices in a food which will match your taste buds, so when that happens it's really over whelming. Yesterday i visited this restaurant just because i was hungry and their price range quite attractive specially the "amish thali" of 160/- rupees. So ordered "polau & mangsho (meat)" (Combo) and one Thali (I m not eating it all alone).
Now to my surprise, the taste is perfect, the decoration is good, thali really "pasia wassol". Polau could have been little more in quantity, but due to its great taste, i can neglect that portion. Total bill was really really affordable. I am surely coming back, and seems like another bengali restaurant, in my fav. list.
Stopped writing reviews after getting disgusted with new eating places. But after visiting this place yesterday my thoughts changed. Located minutes from Gariahat,way to Golpark.A small place but neat n clean.Service is a bit slow. But food is awesome. We had mourola macher chorchori fish fry,rice ,mangshor jhol and nolen gurer ice cream.The basmati rice quality excellent. Mourola chorchori awesome.Mangshor jhol simple n good.Meat should have been a bit tender. The fish fry pure fresh bhetki and perfect. They had just one ice cream totally frozen . It was bad. Not worth ₹140. Other prices totally reasonable. Worth visiting again n again.
Ordered thakroon veg thali via zomato...and got 10% discount...the delivery was quite fast..packaging was also good...now come to the tastes...i fell in love with the every single bite of the thali...the quantity of the food was also awesome...
The place is just near Gariahat crossing! The place is really nice and the polite vibe just gets you going! Went there with family for lunch and couldn't have been anymore happier! 😇 ordered chicken thali, mutton thali and hasher dim er curry! The egg disappointed me though! But the thalis were really filling and each and every dish was prepared with utmost care! Plus they don't charge any service tax and thus it literally fits in with your budget any day! Would recommend this place ti each and everyone who are and who are not fond of Bengali cuisine. 😇
New on my watch list. Situated at a very convinient place between Gariahat and Golpark. Averagely spacious and decorated. The lighting was a bit on the gloomy side. We ordered Polao+Kosha Mangsho Combo, One chicken Meal Thali and one Mete Chocchori. Polao and mutton were excellent in taste(though the mutton gravy was very less). Shukto in The Chicken Thali was very good too. The Mete Chocchori was not up to the mark. Overall it was OK experience for a 1st time visit.

Ordered the Thakroon Aamish Thali and the Polao-Katla Kalia combo via Swiggy. Both were priced at 160/-, very competitive in terms of what was promised. The katla piece was a peti so full of bitter fat that I could hardly take a moutful of it. The Aamish thali with chicken had a hint of something similar to chutney, so miniscule in quantity that I could barely enjoy it.
That apart, the food tasted quite like Biye Barir dupur er ranna, rich and full of promises, yet not delivering completely.The place would do good to increase prices and not skimp on quality/quantity.
Otherwise, it runs the risk of being counted among the "also ran" in the culinary scene of Kolkata.
Awesome place..simplistic decor..convenient location..yummmm bengali food..good enough service..and nice portions..that just sums up this place..go for the thalis..u wont regret!!
After going through many Bengali cuisine restaurants, opted for this one. I ordered on zomato so also got 10% discount. So ordered 2 plates of basmati rice and 2 plates of Kancha Lonka Bhapa Murgi containing 4 pcs/plate. It was enough for 3 people. As it was our first time, didn't ordered too many items. But it won't be our last time, as the items were really good. The chicken preparation was just perfect and the rice was also of fine quality. So,
Quantity- 4/5
Quality-4.5/5
Price-3.5/5 (but they don't charge tax seperately, that's a plus point).
Loved the restaurant. Ambiance was good too. Staffs were very professional. Coming to food we had their chicken thaali and haansher dim er kaliya. All the items were finely cooked.
Awesome Bengali foods served here. Ambience is so beautiful. Try the Thakroon Special Thali. Keep an eye on their menu card. It's unique too. Only problem is parking.
Went for a brunch with my family with a Nearbuy coupon. We ordered Veg-Thali, there was a initial wait for about 30 minutes but the food served was authentic Bengali traditional food garnished in a delicate way. Though it is a small restaurant, but ambiance is good and the food is excellent. Would recommend this joint to bengali food lovers for a taste of Bengal.
Clean and Cozy ambience, good service and great food. Fairly reasonable pricing too.
good homely taste (specially the mutton), can try bhetki fry (cant remember the actual name). note - their prawn piyaji's quality has degraded
Food is awesome. We have ordered 2 spacial thali.The item they served is more than enough. Even each item was delicious with pure touch of homemade Bengali cuisine which our mother & grandma used to cook at our younger age.
The ambience is not overwhelming but pretty good. The staff are very courteous and warm. The food is excellent. The dishes are done with dedication....that's evident. I had four types of fishes and each was very well prepared.
Awesome place but high price without Tax
I had gone there and had Bengali food and I really liked the ambience and the food. The staff was good and they served us well. I will recommend this place to everyone.
Ambient-10/10
Food-9/10

A wonderful place with quality Bengali food at reasonable price!! If you're a Bengali food lover... This place should definitely be in your bucket list!!
The ambience is neat. Food is authentic Bengali Cuisine, tastes excellent specially Fish Monohora, hanser Dimer Kalia, basanti polao... All items are tasty
Enjoyed real Bengali food in Kolkata. Exterior may be misleading but once you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted with a smiling person.
One of best place for family visit... ₹600 /2 Heads
Food quality is impressive.
Given quantity is also decent enough.
Combo and thali meals are the special attraction.
One of the best contemporary Bengali cuisine restaurants in Kolkata. At par with Koshe Kosha and 6 Ballygunge Place.
Good bengali food at reasonable price. Good Ambience could be much better 👍
