Their Kachori Sabzi and Special Milk Tea is very famous all over Kolkata... I personally love to have some Jalebi or Malpua after having my Kachori Sabzi from here... The service is prompt... Staffs are really friendly here... Pocket pinch is also very reasonable... Only problem of the place is the cleanliness... They try hard to maintain it but the footfall is so huge that it is completely impossible for them to maintain the level of hygiene... I've been to this place for uncountable times. I just love their hinger kachori, gulab jamun, jalebi and tea. This is one of the oldest joints of Kolkata. The place remains crowded most of the time. If you want that old Kolkata essence, do try this place.

Maharaj is a small place on Sarat Bose road (I just followed google maps). They serve the yummiest Singhada I have had in Kolkata. The Singhada is slightly spicy, with the right hint of sweet and sour. As with Singhadas in Kolkata, they are small in size and you cannot stop at one! Maharaj also serves club kachori.
Next to Maharaj is a tea stall. The combination of tea and Singhada/Kachori is irresistible... you need to try it once at least for sure.
Full marks to the taste and VFM. It gets very crowded on Sundays, so try and get there early!

Maharaj has been there since quite a long time in Southern Avenue Area. They serve really good Tea, Lip-Smacking Kachoris, Jalebis and more. It starts serving since 7 AM in the morning and continues late till the evening. If you really wanna enjoy the taste of piping hot kachori's, you must go there in the morning hours itself.
What i had:
• Kachori Subj - The Kachori Subj is excellent here. What makes it different from usual Kachori Subj is that the taste of the Subj is lip-smacking good and Kachori is thin and light. They even give Green Chilis (Kacha Lonka) along with the Subj.

Located near deshapriya park, Maharaj is a classic kachori shop which is perfect to kickstart the morning breakfast session, here you can have your breakfast in less than 50 bucks. the food is delicious and fresh. The hing kachori is lip-smacking and tasty, you can try the gulab jamun which will melt in your mouth, so soft and tasty. the jalebis are really good.
To end your breakfast extravaganza you can end it with their special tea.
To sum it up, perfect place to have a cheap and delicious breakfast.

Though i have not experienced many of the other famous kachori joint, and i dont really want to, because am sure nothing can even come close the taste of theirs.. The hot fried hing kachori, with the simpliest yet mouthwatering alu tarkari, with the Lonka, is what heaven looks like.

We started with a nice cup of tea which had elachi in it, nice one. Had Hing Kachori, a bit hard but the taste was quite good however I will keep on visting here for the awesome Gulab Jamun, it melts in your mouth. Jalebi was ok. Overall good experience. One of the best kochuri in south kolkata situated near deshapriya park. This shop sells only kochuri, jilibis, singaras, golab jamun etc. Kochuris are available from 7am till 12am & from 4:30pm to 8:30pm. Jilibis & golab jamuns are awesome here and specially the big tea with elaichi tastes really good. No seats are available here still its a must visit for all kochuri lovers.

Have been having kochuri/ kachori here since the day I was able/allowed to eat outside food; two decades precisely. Needless to say, I freaking love this place for my occasional indulgence in kochuri, Shingara, jilipi, gulab jamun; and lastly the mind-blowing masala chai.
LOCATION: standing at the 4 point crossing of deshapriya park facing towards Gariahat, take the road to your right (Sarat Bose road) and walk a minute or two, you'll find this snack heaven at the right hand side of the road. Don't mistaken the first shop (maharani) with this one though; it's the second one.

This place offers some amazing kachoris. Samosa , kachoris and gulab jamuns are always hot . Tea is also good. It would be better if they would provide a sitting area as well.
Awesome place for satiating your craving for some desi snacks. They serve their kachoris literally fresh from the oven. The sabji, chutney and the green chilli pickle add an extra dimension to go with the kachori. We also had some wonderful gulab jamun made of ghee. Would definitely like to revisit them.

They serve Puris(4/5) with potato curry(3/5) that is infused in spices, jelebi (4/5) which are crispy and succulent, gulab jamon(4.5/5) are just out of the world-sweet soft and melts in your mouth, mediocre samosas(3/5) and tea that was very refreshing (4/5). No tables, it's a pure street food experience.
Got back all the calories that I had lost after walking beside the lake. The kachoris tasted nice. The tea my uncle said was one of the best he had. And the gulab jamun was awesome.

If you are craving for street Jelibis and Singaras this is the right spot. Maharaj is an excellent maker of both. The crowd infront of it is itself the proof. I have tried their Singara and Jilebi both, and both of them are just fantastic. And yes their Mal poya, that was another best thing here.

If you're brave enough to wake up early and be around Deshapriya Park, chances are that this is one of the few places that are open at that hour. The sight of hot jalebis and kachoris and samosas will make your time drip. The uniqueness of this place however, I feel, lies in the Malpoa they make, which is quite unconventional. It's fluffy and filled with sweet syrup and too sweet even for people with a sweet tooth as mine. Pocket friendly and situated at a prime location, this is a good place for a quick bite.

If anyone visits this place, the name might look like a misnomer. Being a road side joint, please do not expect a royal setting, instead you shall experience the loyal customers of Maharaja flocking here. It is located very close to Deshapriya Park, just opposite Monalisa Guest House. Maharaja, even if it does not have a hifi restaurant look, it can easily beat big joints only through food. You can get proper Bengali breakfast here, and thats really amazing. Hing Kachori, Jalebi, Malpoa and Samosa are their speciality. I had hing kachori: these are fried on the spot, are piping hot and tasty, accompanied with a delicious aaloo ki sabzi. The malpoa are crispy from outside, but soft and juicy from inside. The jalebis can give bigshots run for their money, as they are simply brilliant. There is no seating arrangement, if you wanna have it on spot, you have to stand and eat, better pack and take the food. The service is fast, I mean super fast, and the staffs are friendly. They also accept PayTm. Maharaja is highly recommended for a good quality Bengali breakfast!!

Ambience is very simple.
I love their kochuri-sobji, jalebi, gulab jamun, singaara. They make refreshing tea too. All items they make are very palatable.
Prices are cheap too.

Opposite Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani fame Monalisa Guest House in Kolkata, this little timeworn shop bustle with notes of vessels and foodies from the wee hours of the morning. Maharaj has been major crowd-puller near South Kolkata’s Deshopriyo Park since decades. Patrons love their humble hing kachoris, jalebis, gulab jamuns and rejuvenating bharer cha. Around 40 years ago, the shop had started like regular roadside stalls, and has maintained its signature taste even today.
Their traditional hing kachoris served with alur torkari and topped with green chillies is a great breakfast option. This, when paired with the tea, tastes simply out of the world.

Sudden visit to this awesome place to fulfill morning hunger. Honesty one of the best kachoris of Kolkata I ever had. This shop is nearly heritage by the age and the quality is still to notch. Although it's a road side food joint but still you will find so many people from wealthy families having breakfast along with their kids and family members. It is also a heaven for morning walkers, a sip of their famous special tea will make you amazed be it winter, rainy or summer.

One of the best places to have your breakfast be it on a Sunday or a weekday.
The place is always bustling with people and there is always rush. But yes you can finish your Breakfast here within 15-20 mins.
Service is quick enough but yes you need to have patience and play the waiting game before you get your ordered food.

This place is amazing..perfect destination of breakfast and also when u have cravings in the evening u can visit this place for hot hing Kachuri and their Sabji was so good and they also serve one mirchi Achari which was also good and tasty and their jalebi was also lovely and Crispy love to visit this place for jalebi and hot hing Kachuri...❤️😍

I have been visiting this place for quite a long time. The place where they sell the kachoris and tea, just beside that store, there is a lassi stand.
From the lassi stand, try their inhouse made "Malai Toast". It is mind blowing just. Tell them to add sugar on top of it before serving you.
You can also have their lassi, they are a bit thick but you will love the taste.
There is a menu chart pasted in front of the lassi stand cash counter.
Nothing to tell about their kachoris and tea.
Note - Bike parking is easily available on the side of the street. But car parking might be a real issue, you can try parking in front of the shop, if not just use the lane going by the side of the shop and you will get places to park.
It's a good place to have morning breakfast as well as evening snacks.
They have Kachori , Jalebi , Malpua ,Chai , Lassi etc in their menu..
Price is reasonable .
The only con is their is no proper sitting place…

The food is finger licking good. It is served hot. There is a queue and a considerable wait time. But the wait is worthwhile because in the end you get to eat that super tasty food. The front desk personnel are very efficient and effectively handle a big crowd with ease and a smile.
Another iconic Kolkata hole in the wall, this place serves some of the best hing kachoris I have come across. Their special tea is also not to be missed. Top it off with some crunchy jalebis. And pack a few samosas/singharas for home ;)
Prices are extremely reasonable. Quality is ok for the price. Expect crowds, a bit of chaos and some yummy street food, Kolkata style.

The best place to have some kachori and jalebi for breakfast and the shop is very hygiene according to street side shop prices are not that cheap but justifies with quality of the food.
They have huge variety of menu available apart from Kachori, Tea, Jalebi
Pros - It's a good place to have morning breakfast as well as evening snacks.

Located near s.p.mukharjee road, tried kachori, jilebi, chai. Kachori and chai are good, jilebi is ok ok. It is situated in small place. Good quantity with decent pricing
Few days back we visited Maharaj,one of the Kolkata's iconic breakfast destinations.
We really amazed by the authenticity of their kachuri that they have maintained till the date. We took their famous hing kachori, gulab jamun, jalebi/jilipi and tea. They also opened a new snacks corner just beside their old shop.
They sell one of the best Malai Toast in Kolkata
Kachori is awesome and khullar wali cha. Must try items here. And my favourite malai toast. Just amazing. My used to go place
Must visit place if you're in Kolkata there's also Maharani shop just near to this and both the places serve almost same menu and taste is almost the same. Now its upto you, you wanna binge in maharaja or maharani. Personally chai is better here.

Kochuri : The size of the Kochuri was small and thin but taste was deliciously wonderful and in fact less oily.
Jelabi : It's was thin as well and moderately sweet as preferred and desired. Very tasty indeed and felt authentic food.
Gulab Jamun : Again less in sweetness as wanted and inside was mushy. I'm not a person who likes sweets but I enjoyed this greatly.
Large Tea : This was average as homemade tea. Nothing special as you get from dedicated tea outlets.
