Have been visiting this particular branch of Annapurna based at Elgin Road since childhood and have tried numerous items from this place!
Recently visited them after a span of several years and bought several snacks for takeaway! Their stuff has very low oil content, packing is neat and food presentation is also good!
All items were nice, but their bhakharwadi stands out!
Pocket pinch is a bit on the higher side though!
This place is where my college was, had made numberious visit back then. Went in after long for a gujrati breakfast. Tried the pyaz samosa, didn't like it that much these were soggy and not loaded with onion fillings also. Also tried the dhokla chat and kachodi chat, liked the every bite of it, am still craving as Am writing this. Never knew chat could be so great without dhai.
The person in charge of the store is very friendly and polite . Vada pav and khandvi are delicious . Pocket pinch is a bit on the higher side . The chutneys that they serve are also yum!
This place is located on the crossing of Sarat Bose Road and Elgin. I tried their onion samosa and it was so good. They also call it patiala. Now this place has become one of my favorite food joint and whenever I cross from there I eat onion samosa. They serve hot samosa with three varieties of chutney.
This place is highly recommended.
Ordered a plate of peyaz kachori and they were just amazing.. The stuffing was excellent and combined it with the three different types of chutney, it was just lip smacking, specially in the chilly Winters..
one of my favourite places right from my college days and I really find their food amazing .
You will find all sorts of vegetarian fries and sweets that would make you go crazy .
fresh food , clean area and the quality of the food is pretty good .So I say if you are hungry and want to eat a lot at a relatively cheap budget , try out this place .
This is a place where I go almost everyday when I do have collge. Though I am not a vegetarian lover but this places attracts me a lot.. here my favourite is dhokla chaat, samosa chaat and kachori chat. The jelebis they make are also very tasty. I took home there packed faapras and theplas. Those were also good. Here I tasted Paatra for the first time and fell in love with that. The only dish I didn't like was khaandvi.. they also make awesome ricedhokla.
I'm feeling nostalgic while writing this review. When I was in school I used to visit here almost everyday. One of Kolkata's best singara(samosa) maker. Still remember that smell and taste....it's awesome. Oh God I'm craving.
My Dad Went For His Morning Walk With His Sister Poonam Agarwal After That He Decided To Visit Annapurna, Elgin. He Ordered Pitodh And Methi Ka Pakora And He Bought For Him And Himself For Our Breakfast. And We Enjoyed Our Breakfast. Thank you Annapurna For Making Our Day Terrific.
I crossed this place twice last week and finally decided last week to give it a try. Their onion samosas are a must try .. also the dhoklas are just amazing!
Royal is all I can say about this place. The laddus are divine and the samosas are jumbo. This place surely knows to attract you with the size and capture you with taste.
The dhoklas are my favourite.
One of the farsan shop in elgin road offering variety of farsan option. The farsan are very fresh and one would never go out of options. I had brought dry kachori, chakli, potato chips and moong laddu everyhting was too good.
Annapurna is a purely veg food joint. They make a lot of breakfast items and my favourite among them is the dhokla. The chutney served with this just flavours up the dhokla and it tastes great.
Also, the namkeens that they make are good for a tea time snack.

Annapurna is a popular farsan joint located near Hindusthan Club.
Morning walkers can be seen crowding around the joint for fresh fare in the morning time.
I had gone to pick up some theplas. Being hungry I ordered the
:
Lehsun pyaz wada which was outstanding . A big flat potato patty a great flavour of onion and garlic batter fried in gramflour. The chutney served with any dish adds a lot to the taste.
Then I ordered a plate of mini onion samosas. They were really yummy as well.
The theplas here are famous with people travelling to locations without much access to Indian food. They have quite a long shelf life.
The dhoklas and khakhras are also very good here.

Located on the crossing of Sarat Bose and Elgin Road on the right side while going towards Minto Park. I like their ghee singaras specially the alloo stuffged inside it. The namkins, gujrati snacks are the best ones.
I had come down from Delhi to attend a wedding, decided to stay back two days to explore cuisines of kolkata. Had breakfast in the morning at this place.
Amazing samosa chat, aloo dum was just the best to taste
Annapurna is a place where I love to have my breakfasts and evening snacks. Very close to my college and this is a place I always go for. A place which doesn't compromise on their quality. I love this place because of their lovely price tag and affordable price. Annapurna is serving some lovely Gujrati Snacks for years and it has grown over time.
I love their Dhoklas, just wow. And the three different chatnis which they give. The poha is another thing which you should always go for.
A very loyal customer of this place. The behaviour of the owners are very polite and always have a smile on their face.
Lovely place to have snacks.
This place is perfect for authentic gujrati snacks.. Their Dhoklas ,Samosas are too good.. You should try their theplas with chilly pickle... ( Special mention - Crushed Chilly Pickle - It's very nice.. The more you have it..The more you crave for it ... I have never had this type of chilly pickle before) :)
Another Hot favourite in the Elgin Road area and quite close to home !!. It has a great array of Namkeens mainly for which it is known. Considering the large number of Gujjus who patronise the place it has to be good. The masala singaras( samosa) are nice and large and spicy as is the kachori. Quite filling. The Dhoklas are soft and very authentic in flavour and texture. The nimki mixtures are numerous and best to get them nice and fresh daily if youre living nearby or regular at the areas schools!! Theplas,Khakra, wafers, bhujias all great stuff, Jalebis are largish in size generally and crisp and syrupy when eaten fresh and hot.
One of the better Namkeen outlets os South Cal no doubt !!
Nice place to go for snacks. Rice dhoklas and dal dhoklas are good.
Have the early morning phaphras with their papaya chutney. Its very good. Onion samosas are to die for.
Our pick and go college food joint was always incomplete without a stop at this place with their amazing snacks on offer from samosas to sandwiches you would definitely visit it again for another bite...
Staring from theplas which you can store in your fridge for days or take them for an outdoor trip to dhoklas, samosas, kachori and all the gujrati food everything is awesome out here. Never mis chance of having dhoklas outhere.
I recommend getting dhoklas packed in the morning or having them there as they are freshly made then.
Situated right beside my college, this is my favourite food place in the neighbourhood. I almost visit this place whenever I go to college, and I've got a special preferences for all their "Chats", though the Kachuri Chat is my favorite (probably the best in the city).
Annapurna Sweets is a treasure trove of Gujarat "farsan"(savoury items). Of course they also have amazingly tasty sweets as well. But I much prefer their savoury items. Oooh! What a spread!!!And all excellent quality as well as tasty. They have hot items like aaloo vada, cutlets, samosas etc .You can also get the typical gujju favourites of dhokla(both khaman and khatta),khakhra and thepla here. Plus they also wide variety of packaged namkeens and mixtures....bhujiya, gathia, nimki, chips et al. One is spoilt for choice....not able to choose easily as all their stuff is good. The location is fantastic...crossing of Lansdowne Road and Elgin Road.
Annapurna has been there for times immemorial. I have loved there dhokla and samosas. Lots of snacks to choose from for take away. Love there friendly service but a little overpriced, Love there masala chips..
Have you tried their pedas yet? have you tried their samosas yet? Have you tried their Dhoklas yet? If No, then do visit as soon as possible because else you are going to miss a big thing. I personally have tried most of their items and my taste buds carve to visit again. The place is located on the Sarat Bose Road-Elgin road crossing.
Now this is good strictly for snacks like samosa and dhokla..if you like them ..tried and tested many a tines as it is in close proximity to my place ..recommended paneer dhokla
These are places which add character to a city. From kaju barfi to Jhalmuri to pakoras to achar to mathri to dhokla to kachori to Chanachur to veg cutlet.......phew!Did I miss anything?
A family show, this store shows how loyalty is cultivated based on just one thing....quality.
Love it.
I have been seeing this outlet since my
Childhood, as my school(Hartleys' High School) is situated just opposite to it. At that time, food joint in that area being sparse, any child desiring to give treat would hear for Annapurna. With time, we left the school. The owner became old. But still I cannot help connecting it to my school days.
During my short stay at Ahmedabad, I was introduced to Gujarati cuisine other than dhokla and fell in love with it. That is the reason I often visit here in order to satiate my craving for Gujarati snacks. Alas, all Gujarati snacks are not available here. For example, I love Khandvi, I love khaman dhokla, I love sandwich dhokla. Those are not available. But other snacks are. I often go there and carry away dhokla, Kachori, Gujrati chanachur, thepla, gathia etc. The taste has not deteriorated at all. It remains static. I wish it would remain the same. Entering this shop means to me like going back to the school days.
Being a Gujarati, this place is always there in our mind for a morning breakfast.. Those hot gathiya and jalebi on a Sunday morning be the all time favourite food for us :D

Location: Near Bhawanipore College, Sarat Bose Road.
My friends and I often visit this place for quick snacky bites after tuition nearby.
Annapurna offers a wide multiplicity of Marwari and Gujarati eatables ranging from Dhokla, Thepla, Khakra to varieties of chips and papads.
Besides regular eateries such as Samosa, Kachori, Vada, Cutlet, Chanachur are available at all times.
They also hold a classic variety of sweets like Jalebi, Laddoo.
Apart from at-the-counter eatables, they also sell packaged food items.
From salt to sweet, they have it all.
Good food .. morning snacks are at a huge variety here .. slightly overpriced .. but good place to hangout early morning with friends !! Self service is what they believe in ..
Location: Near Bhawanipur College, Sarat Bose Road Crossing.
Being located at a very near proximity to Bhawanipur College and St. John Diocesan School, it is one of the most frequently visited place by students for their early morning breakfast or an after-school hunger savior.
Annapurna Sweets has been here for years and has been serving quality sweets and snacks along with round-the-clock munchies we Kolkattans die for.
It is a small shop with racks decked up along all the walls which shelf the munchies and a food display case put in an L-Shaped manner containing the sweets and snacks.
About the food they serve, I have been a regular here since years, but, sadly it's the same story as other foodies i.e. have always stuck to the snacks and munchies. I realize that in these years of regular visits to this place, haven't ever looked up the display case for sweets!
In the SNACKS section, one can always try out their pyaaz kachori, pyaaz samosa, samosa, dhokla, mirchi pakora, aloo bonda (the fried items are slightly oily) whereas in the MUNCHIES section, one can go for their amazing bhel, chanachur, khakhra, banana chips, chana dal, bhakarwadhi.
Nevertheless, the jalebis and gathias (fafda) are good too. he sauteed papaya & tempered green chillies along the gathias is fresh too.
Yes, one can give the spring roll and veg. cutlet a miss.
The service is quick as the staff is trained according to their needs thus, they can easily manage larger crowds.
The prices are pocket friendly.
- Wouldn't cost you much for a full tummy. ;)
Overall has always been a good experience.
- Never has this place disappointed me.

I am in love with this place.Such tasty snacks do seldom come at good prices! Be it their dhoklas, or aloo bonda, paneer pakoda, cutlets .Also the gujarati items like khakra, theplas are good. Chanachur is an instant hit here,so many people take huge packets for home . The jalebi not too sweet is delicious.
I have been a huge fan of Annapurna's dhoklas since my childhood and visiting this joint makes me all nostalgic as each visit brings back the memories of my St. John's Diocesan School :)
Emotions apart, I think their dhoklas are one of the best which is available in this city. They serve it with 3 different kinda chutnies - one regular imli (the red one), one orangish sauce (which I don't like that much) and the BEST ever pudina chutney which tastes the same as it did 20 years back.
What I dislike is that they are serving papaya slivers instead of the radish slivers as they used to do earlier with the gathias. I still remember that taste..and thoroughly miss it :(Also, recently I bought myself a Murshidabadi red chilli achaar from Annapoorna and was thoroughly disappointed. Will try out their other varieties soon, hopefully.
I agree with Rukshana's review and say that i have never eaten sweets here. Annapurna is an Epic farsaan shop and i have seen it delivering brilliant stuff for the last 30 years .
We as a family buy a lot of our tea time munchies from here. The Potato chips , khari biscuits, banana chips and the bhakarwadi are simply phenomenal .
one can alos ger a great range of chanacurs and mixtures. Do pick up the spicy chana dal from here ... take home add chopped onions and lemon and see the magic . Perfect midnight snack .
The theplas, dhoklas, khandwis, are always fresh . They also make amazing aloo bonda and mirchi wadas . Out of all their preshables and fresh produce my all time favorite is the Patra , warning , if u have too much of it , it can cause pricking sensation in the throat , But it is so addictive that I cant stop at one piece .
One must also sample the huge range of pickles from here , Especially the green chili pickle , for all hot like it HOT ... this is a gem . The milder red chili is also great .
They now also have a huge range of diet snacks that are roasted and also soya based stuff.
Annapurna is tradition . plain and simple .
The best Jalebis I have ever had!
Annapurna is situated near my college and I generally have snacks from here. Samosa aalu vada and cutlet are a must try from here.
I funnily have not eaten the sweets at Annapurna Sweets but I do enjoy the savory items they have on offer. My most frequent and regular purchase is the premixed Bhel Puri that all of us in my family are partial to. Possible one of the best available in Kolkata its crispy crunchy and delicious not to mention easy to put together at home and munch on. The other thing I enjoy are the Kachori's which are quite good as are the samosas and dhoklas , these make for a nice bite when the nibbles attack you.
Not much spacy, still this sweet shop is best in the area. It serves the best breakfast in the whole area of Bhawanipur barring the road side stalls. The snacks offered here serves great delight. My personal favourite is the "pyaj kachori chat". The must-have of the shop is the spongy juicy dhoklas. It doesn't weigh much on your pocket. It is a reasonable shop with best quality of sweets and snacks.
Annapurna Sweets is a small sweet and snack shop on Sarat Bose Road, near Elgin Road Crossing. The shop is only hope for the morning batch college students as mostly morning batch students don't have enough time to have their breakfast and no other eateries are opens so early at that time. I and my friend completely rely on them to fill our stomach after college gets over.
Talking about the items available, they have a lot of varieties of sweets, snacks, namkeens etc. I never had sweets or namkeens from them so cant tell about that. However the snacks are nice and cheap. They have snacks starting from samosas, aloo bonda, kulcha sandwich, normal sandwich and many more freshly prepared items in the early morning. Dhoklas are really popular here. Even though none of my friends are Gujarati however we really enjoy their dhoklas the most. They are really big in size and one plate is enough for two. The best thing is chutneys they offer with dhoklas.
Quality is very good for each and every item but they didn't receive any upi payment or card.. They deal with only cash for that I faced a difficulty as I didn't carry cash that time. As per my opinion it is a negative point for them.. They should start to receive payments through upi and should accept cards.
Oldest Gujarati farshan and snacks shop in Kolkata. Excellent quality and great food and behaviour of the owner makes u come again and again
Well if you are a Namkeen person or love chaats, or if you want to try some Gujarati snacks, Annapurna is the best place for you. It's a small store at Elgin where they sell all sorts of namkeens, some sweets like Peda, Ladoo, and some amazing chaats (Mainly Kachori, Dhokla & Samosa) along with samosas, dhoklas, vada pav, and so on at a very reasonable price. Being a small shop, there isn't a proper sitting arrangement. One has to stand and eat or get it packed. Food quality and quantity is absolutely amazing with a comfortable atmosphere and a great hospitality.
It is situated near 6, sarat bose road on main road. They have multiple variety of snacks. And they are also specialist in Gujarati items.
Thank you for getting our order ready in time. The quality of the food was high as always.
Great farsan shop on crossing of Sarat Bose Road and Elgin Road. Must try items are fafda with raw papaya chutney (only available in the morning), patiyala, onion kachori, rice and besan dhokla and their chabenis. Their imli, dhania and garlic chutneys also compliment almost every dish they have.
Very good taste of snacks & savouries. Items are fresh. Samosa stuffing is excessive, which I don't like, but the taste is good. Little pricey but good quality &: taste .
It is a sweet shop in sarat bose road near minto park
Awesome place for Gujarati homely savouries and sweets! Must try soft fluffy Dhokla and tasty Gulab Jamuns.
Probably the best place for Gujarati food in Kolkata especially the dhoklas and khandvis. Fresh, tasty and light on the stomach.
Good place. Lovely pyaaz kachori. Must have
All tasty and fresh snacks available.
This is a store selling traditional Gujarati farsan. It has both, fresh and packaged snacks. Their dhoklas, khandvis, gathia, samosas, etc are made fresh every morning. Excellent is the word to use. The owner's behaviour is very friendly and helpful. I have been buying for many years from here, and will recommend this place without hesitation.
This place has all the favourite Gujarati namkeens and old traditional nashtas available. The quality of food stuff available is very much like homemade touch. They use premium edible oil for preparing all the food items. Must try their different varieties if you are a food savvy person.
