A nice place for vegetarians.. located in Esplanade..we ordered two paneer rolls and one plate chole bhature.. taste nd quantity wise it is well n good but price quite high.
The place is a one of the well-knowns in the esplanade area. We had chola bhature and paneer roll, both of which were very delicious. However I felt it to be slightly overpriced. A one time visit is recommended.
This is one of favourite food joint located near New Market, Esplanade. I have tried almost all of their dishes and I love all of them.
Here I am reviewing my recent visit-
tried:
Veg pulao,
Mango lassi,
Kulfi.
All were delicious and in short comfort food.
I like their south Indian foods very much....The Dhosas are very good in taste....All the sweet items are also very good in taste.....will surely visit again.....
I last visted this place a few years ago. The food was great, freshly cooked very tasty and well presented. I love the chola batura. The waiters were attentive and service overall was good. Overall a good meal and great value we will certainly be going back.
Had tried masala dhosa... Dahi vada.. Nd kulfi.. Taste of all the food were delicious... Loved the atmosphere.... Behavior of the staffs were good... ❤...
Love the chaats. Also they are famous for dosa, sambhar and vada. I like to visit this place whenever I come to esplanade. It's a nostalgic place for me.
This place is ideal for fulfuilling the hunger pangs after a tiring shopping session. Brings back old Kolkata feels in the most ideal way.
Loved the food and the service.
To old places and new memories.❤
This has been a necessity whenever I visit Esplanade.
The most oldest venue for me.
The ambience is as cool as it is.
Lovely Dahi Bara.
The instant service and aroma all around.
Staffs are pretty formals.
Location- Near Esplanade metro station
Serves sweets, chats and south indian snacks.
The dosa and kulfi are must tries. They are really good!
The place is famous for Kulfi ... we ordered a Kulfi and , Dosas ... The taste of the Kulfi was different ... that was delicious ... I really love it ... so much colorful ... And, the Dosa was good too ... Thumbs up ... ✌✌✌🍝
Always like to try something from this place whenever I visit Esplanade. Last time I tried veg polao, chole bhature, mango lassi and kulfi. All the items were fresh and taste good. One of the best dish is Kulfi, it's a must try dish. Service also good.
Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Situated near esplanade metro station.
Good for having some breakfast, sweets.
The attraction of this place is their kulfi and faluda. A must try in this summer.
It was a fantastic experience trying out this very special cuisine while in Kolkata. The list goes on Just flip through the menu and order in to enjoy an amazing experience.Excellent food..New taste to the city..A must try for all foodies.
I like their cold selection a lot, Kulfi of theirs is my all time favourite and so are other shakes n drinks. Ideal to quench the summer thirst.
Tried their kulfi with falooda... Quite nice.... I want to go back again to try their masala dosa and chana bhatura and gulab jamun... Service and price is too good though i was worried about hygiene
Hi! Went there 2nd time for lunch... Had chola bhatura and masala dosa. Masala dosa was outstanding!! Never had such delicious sambar and chutney.... However the chola was a little more salty to my taste... At last we had gulabjamun and ohh boy!! It was heavenly!! I will definately come back for more
Good place for casual dining n students hangout. .. pocket friendly. Good service. South indian food lovers must visit. ..... Simple place. With good food
I visited this place a few days back. It is located near the big bazaar at Esplanade. It is mainly a veg restaurant where you will get tasty south indian food. Also the chole bature is very good here. I tried a masala dosa and chole bature and rose lassi. All of them tasted good though the chole was a bit too spicy for me. Overall its a nice place.
One of my fav places for kulfi since childhood. Today on a nostalgia trip took my son to enjoy the kulfi there and also bought some sweets.. The kesar falooda kulfi was awesome as usual.. Bought gajar ka halwa, my ever fav shonpapri, mung dal sweets.. Loved the shonpapri as usual. The other sweets were also quite tasty. The gajar ka halwa on the lighter side on sweetness meter and dry. Not recommended at all.. Sticking to kulfi and shonpapri is safe i guess.

Indramahal was a place I used to visit everytime we came for shopping with my parents in esplanade since I was a child.though it didn't remain an everytime visiting place when I grew up but I come here time to time to have that nostalgic feeling of eating masala dhosas with mom and having a kulfi faluda and sharing with my elder brother or sometimes just to eat the hot and delicious Gulab jamun served directly from the kadai to my plate..So yah you definitely should try these three things if you come here and many other dishes too. it's in the Central location of Esplanade...They also have a separate sitting area in the backside which is completely air conditioned.but one thing because of its immense popularity you may have to wait to get a sit. Service is good ,price is cheap.so it's a good place to get a little rest in between or after shopping
The place is really good for snacks and tiffins . Everyone can visit this place as it is purely veg . Tried Dahi Vara , Chana bathura ,Raj kachuri, rose lassi and mango lassi ...Visited this place more than 2 times and loved it because the price is not high .

I ordered dosa and they made and served tasty food. Their staff behavior is also good. It is a really good place for everyone to visit and have their food.
Well I have been to this place like 100 times, and will also go further. Situated just in the crossing of esplanade, this place serves some lipsmacking south indian dishes, along with chola batura, kulfi, lassi and sweets. Lots of varieties to choose from. Try out the kulfi its great, and also the mixed chat.
South Indian food defines simplicity in it's flavour and that is what this joint serves you.. a dosa or idli as light snacking is all you need to refresh yourself during shopping.. prices are cheap.. quick service..
First time I went there.atmoshphere is very good.we ordered Dahi vara,Rajkacuri chat,Lulfi,Lassi.all items are very good.lasty food.culfi and rajkacuri awesome.service was good.and this is a

It purely vegetarian eatery near esplanade metro area. Environment is good, crowdy, service is good but not properly cleaned. Famous for dosa, dahi vada, keshar kulfi, chana batora etc....quite expensive....
Today we went there to had evening snack with friends ,we had enjoyed the snacks there we had masala dosa chana bhutra and kulfi it was good...
Cleanliness is a bit of a problem here. Otherwise, food quality and price is okay here. One of the oldest places to eat in and around in Esplanade, this place brings back a lot of nostalgia too.

Today i went to this outlet and i never had raj kachori chat. So i had one. It was really good but spicy. If you dont like spicy food then don't have this. Other than that it was quite cruncy and full of different flavours. The location is very easy. Its beside esplanade metro station. And ambience is moderate. Its a non ac spot . We also had a masala dosa which was also good. The service is fast and price is cheap. Hope to visit again.

though I am giving pics of only 3 of the menus but have tried a lot of things from Indramahal like papri chat, singhara, khasta kachori, chana bathura, vegetable pulao and various kinds of Dhosas, kulfi. actually every time whenever I go for shopping in Esplanade and start to feel hungry, the first restaurant comes in mind is indramahal and then KFC comes and trust each of the items are really tasteful rather can say foods are excellent. Service is also good. & environment of this and uniform of their members make it more traditional.
I have been to this place more than 20-30 times..old, nostalgic n spacious... very pocket friendly...no taxes... perfect for quick bites...I have tried almost everything in their menu- be it dosa or chana batura or kulfi or sweets or paneer chop or samosa.. everything is absolutely mouth watering... it's a perfect place to hangout with college buddies or even siblings/family. Love the place.. truly
If you want to befuddle yourself with good food at an economical price, Indra Mahal is the place. I have been going to this place since childhood. Their raj kachori, chhole bhatura and kulfi are indeed amazing. However a recent visit made me concerned about the hygiene factor. The premises of this place was unkempt, with bits of food particles here and there, things were kind of shabby. If they dote on cleanliness, Indra Mahal can revive its lost glory as a good food joint in the Esplanade area.
Indra Mahal is located at Esplanade which serves snacks mainly. In all my visits, I have had tasted various types of Chaats - Papri, Mix, Raj Chaori, Singhara and I liked them all. Papri and Mix Chaats are among the best they prepare. I also tried Dahi Vada which is literally fascinating. The Chana Batura is great but not the best. A few walks away near the Citi Mart will fetch you more delicious Cola Baturas. However, the Singhara served with Chutney is recommended as it will keep you amazed.
I was in esplanade with my di once and she dragged me here to try the Kulfi. I must say it was a delight. It was well made with enough falooda on top. It's a pure vegetarian eatery. Haven't tried anything else from here yet.

If you are a vegetarian and looking for nearby Esplanade. This is the place for you.
The Dosa as well as the Chaats are wonderful here. Both are very fitting as well.
Raj Kachori chat is very tasty.
And Recommended -
You dont want to miss on the Mango Lassi.
Absolutely Flavourful.
Service is good. Pocket pinch is very reasonable.
Indra Mahal is located at Esplanade which serves snacks mainly.
Ambience is ok as the surrounding is always crowded and noisy . Sitting arrangement is there.
Quick service and nice staffs.
Tried Dahi vada, Kulfi and singaara. All 3 items were palatable. Singaara with chutney combination was very relishing. Kulfi was highly enjoyable.Dahi vada was soft and tasty.
Pocket pinch is low .
A nice place to satisfy hunger pangs.
Indra Mahal is located in one of the busiest part of the city being the hub for bargain marketing. It attracts enormous crowds despite its shabby ambiance.
I happen to visit this particular place quite a few amount of times and generally liked it. However, the tables are always unclean though the people tries to clean it every now and then. The order delivery is fastest and they never ever mix up with order even after facing large amount of customers.
In all my visits, I have had tasted various types of Chaats - Papri, Mix, Raj Chaori, Singhara and I liked them all. Papri and Mix Chaats are among the best they prepare. I also tried Dahi Vada which is literally fascinating. The Dhosas are not too worthy of praise but I liked the Masala Dosa and the Onion Dosa was kind of pathetic. The Chana Batura is great but not the best. A few walks away near the Citi Mart will fetch you more delicious Cola Baturas. However, the Singhara served with Chutney is recommended as it will keep you amazed. I strongly advise you to try Kulfi which will keep you satisfied.
A Visit is Recommended.
Whenever I visit Esplanade, and I feel hungry and I am in the mood of having south Indian food, Indra mahal has always been my choice. Great place. Very much spacious. Good food and with an attractive price tag. Definitely worth recommendation. Oh I almost forgot..try the kulfis..

This place does not need any additional intro - one of the most traditional sweet shop to hunt for Kesar Coolfi served with faluda. Have been visiting this joint since my school days. Still gets nostalgic each time i pass by this sweet outlet.
D one of its kind in d market area of esplnade.. Just beside d Metro Station.. U get a good number of delicious mithais.. Nd d popular dishes from Al over India like dosa.. Chhole bature.. Nd mostly d chilling kulfis
Situated near esplanade metro gate no. 1 & 2. Sweets and desi snacks outlet. Situated in main market so always crowded with shoppers but they manage to maintain the place clean and arrangement of sitting tables properly. There is nothing to say about Ambience but hospitality was good. Service was quick and presentation was average. Price was a bit high. In this visit I tried their Paneer roll and paneer chop both were true desi, spicy, fresh and tastes very tasty. And I also tried their rose lassi which was refreshing and very Delicious.

This is an 'Eat and go' type eatery, busy most of the time and the ambience is not so good. Most of the customers came here for a quick bite after tiresome marketing.
They serve some cool and decent kulfi and flavoured lassi.
Their DAHI BORA is good. Chaats are so so.
CHOLA BATORA: Puri is much oily and amount of chola is low.
DOSA: dosa is OK, but the sambar and chutney is not up to the mark.
They also serve sweets. GULAB JAMUN, SHON PAPRI ( made of ghee) are worth trying.

I tried their masala dosa bt sorry to say..that was not good at all!!the taste was nt good!bt liked d chana bhataure n mixed chat!i would like to visit the place to taste "kulfi". just luved it! :
Indra Mahal surely makes the best Chana Bhatura in Central Kolkata, if not entirely. Went to Indra Mahal last week almost after a decade & half. Nothing seems to have changed here. The lassi glasses have become smaller though. Of course I ordered the Chana Bhatura & God, it was so good. Other items worth a mention are Kulfi, Chaats & their sweets.
Indra Mahal is the best place to have a quick grab of snacks after a hectic road-side shopping in Esplanade. The place does not have an AC yet is airy and spacious. However, the set-up is not well maintained and the decor have become rustic due to the lack of maintenance down the ages.
My recommendations for this place are Dahi Vada, Masala Dosa and Gajar Ka Halwa (During winters). The Chole Bature has the chole diluted and lacks proper punch of the spices. The Gajar Ka Halwa is one of the best I have ever had over there. All in all, a must try if you generate a cheap yet tasty foodgasm.
Indra mahal located near esplanade metro..one of the old south indian(vegetarian) resturent. Visited there several times. ordered masala dhosa and dahi vada .both taste quite good .kulfi was just yummy 😊
Very well known south indian restaurant. They have many different south indian items. I have gone there several times. Tried masala dhosa, dahi vada. Masala dhosa is fabulous, and so as dahi vada. Price is a bit on higher side.
A very well known joint for serving south Indian dish..one of the old joint...located near bigbazar esplande's very next foot near metro station exit ..I tried dere chola batore and dhosa also their kulfi was so yummy
It is one of the oldest sweet shop in Kolkata, situated near the esplanade metro station , just beside the rally's inn. It's a complete vegetarian shop. Besides sweets different veg. north indian and south indian food items, ice creams are available here. It's a large one but Not well decorated. However we ordered kulfi faluda & taste was upto the mark. Servicing is really very good. Hope to come again.....

One of the oldest Chaat joints in Kolkata. I was regular here mostly when the adjoining Rallis had shut down. Their best sellers are undoubtedly Dhosas. What I like the most here is their Lassis. Perfectly milky and brothy, they really pack a punch. Besides, one can also try their Chaats. The service is quite fast and the price not so expensive.
A sweet shop with availability of some South and North Indian veg dishes. Have large sitting arrangements...we ordered one masla Dosa,Dahi bara,Raj kochuri, dhokla and lassi at the end. The Dosa was just made, served hot but the sambar and chutney was watery. The dhokla tasted good. Dahi bara and rajkochuri was okayish. I loved the lassi only. Had two glasses of it. The prices are really cheap and their service was fast. Overall a so so place.
Located adjacent to esplanade metro(gate no5). Old most veg joint in Kolkata. Offers decent food at very reasonable prices. Not a very great ambience but the food-they absolutely delights your taste buds. The lassi, mango lassi, dosa,ESP cheese dosa,kulfi... A must visit.. :)
aftr office and ready fr shopping at esplanade...me n my sis decided to hv a quick bite. we had masala dosa, dahi vada, kulfi nd firni. food ws good and kulfi ws awesome lyk always i used to had! bt d firni ws a let down fr me. dint lyk it at all. bt okay, overall had our stomach fuelled with minimum pocket pinch.
I always visit there when I really want to have a Kulfi. No one gives u a better than them.but yes the food is good and the desserts, u should not Qs them. Pocket friendly. Good quantity. :)
The place offers decent food at affordable rates. A good place to have snacks on the go. The Lassis are nice and the Dosa too. Dahi Vada is quite good.
Great vegge food..with my bro nd maa i went there in winner shoppng...we ordrrd raj kachuri chatt..paneer chop..love it..spcly kulfi nd mango lassi....nice food for vegge..
