I purchased from here 10 pieces of taal shansh and the quality of the sweets were nice and all were fresh. Good experience. Very happy.
To me their rosogolla (super soft) is the best creation. Apart from that I absolutely love their bonde and tok doi. And since I live the crunchy amritti, I loved that too.
This is situated at deshapriyo park.it is a vegeterian place.ordered chanar misti.taste is really good.place is clean.staffs are friendly.all over good.

Vien is one of the most famous Sandesh shops in Kolkata and I really don’t remember how many decades back I visited here first. From Samosa (called Singhaara in Kolkata) to Sandesh to Rasgullas they make delicious stuff!
Though should add that the store looks very jaded and its just over the counter sales, no ambiance, no seating arrangement.
I don’t stay in Kolkata anymore, but whenever I come to the city, I visit this shop at-least once daily. Its just next door helps for me! :-)
Winter season is coming, their Nolan Gur Rasgullas are extremely famous, they make fresh ones in the evening and within a matter of hours everything is sold!
Must must visit for your Sandesh cravings especially!
This is a very simple bengali sweet shop located near Sarat Bose Road close to the Lake Market area. The sweets are OK tastewise, not over the moon. But one thing drags me there almost every week, the Rasogollas and the singaras. They make the Rasogollas twice during the day and if you go there in the evening, you get hot ones and they are incredibly soft .
One of the old fashioned sweet shops, a person can come around is Vien. Situated near Sarat Bose Road, this is a basic sweet shop having all types of Bengali sweets out of which, I personally had Sondesh and Gulab Jamun and the taste was really basic, nothing in special to be cared off. I would recommend this sweet shop to all the sweet lovers to try out.
Location: In a by lane near Bhupendra Mansion, Lake Market; In the lane adjacent to Sharma Sweets, Lake Market.
Came across this place on Zomato while surfing through the nearby places this afternoon. And, I tried recalling where I had seen this sweet shop. It took me a while to recall, but, yes my memory gave me the details. I have always parked my car in front of it whenever I visited Ramakrishna Lunch Home (Bhupendra Mansion) for dine-in or takeaways.
Vien has been serving customers with delicious sweets and a couple of savories for years now.
The ambiance wouldn't attract you much as its quite old and has minimal decor.
As this place isn't much of a distance from my residence, visited in the evening today and called for Rosogullas, Gulab Jamun and a Samosa.
- The Rosogullas were served hot and were completely soft and melted in the mouth. Oh so good it was and had the sweetness was spot on.
- The Gulab Jamun, have always loved it hot, but sadly they had it cold and lacked re-heating options. But, had a balanced sweetness and tasted good whatsoever.
- The Samosa had a flavorful filling of cauliflower, potato and peas. As, they call it,“Aloo, Motor aar Phulkopir singhara.” Slightly greasy but, Delicious & Hot!!
The staff was happy to help and served with a sweet smile. :)
Prices wouldn't be a problem at all! Super pocket-friendly hai ji! My bill crossed a quarter of a century by a nick. ;)
A surprise wala yummy experience it was. :)
- Would revisit soon.
- Next weekend, a takeaway for sure. Comments due.
Sprawling on a back lane of Southern Avenue is Vien. The sweets on the menu, in this case, the glass showcase have stood the test of time, with consistent and supreme quality and taste.
A visit around 5/5.30 pm will give you envious opportunity to gulp some fresh hot roshogollas (rasgullas) and singara (samosa). The sweets are always fresh and go off the rack within a few hours. The best part is if asked, the salesman would also suggest you the sweet you should buy depending on the occasion and would honestly tell you if the sweets were made few hours back or are fresh on the rack.
Standing true to tradition and authentic sweets, that Bengal is known for, this huge shop cannot be missed.
One of the very few places in the city where i eat rasgulla ...
the rasagolla here is just to die for . I also love the fact that they do a great packing for the rasagolla if you tell them that you are travelling. Their rasagolla sweetness is just perfect and if you can eat them fresh over there nothing like it . I have also seen that their rasagolla has a longer shelf life that other places . They sell like hot cakes.
My uncle brought sweets from Vien one day. I had the hot samosa, the rasgulla (soft and supple with the just the right amount of sweetness), sandesh and amother type of sandesh. All of them were good. There is a reason why people buy from heritage shops: they usually do not let you down (Balaram Mullick's gur rasgullas were a letdown though. Check my review there for a better understanding). I would recommend vien if you like your sweets and want a bengali flavour!
It’s been more than 40 years since my family & I have been having their Rasogollas, Sandesh & Mishti Doi. The world has changed but Vien’s recipe & taste remains the same good old world type. The Nolen Gur sweets are just heavenly. One unique aspect of Vien is their sweets are just adequately sweet. Not much not too less either. Of late, they have added some new varieties like mango & chocolate Sandesh amongst others which are good as well. Both are liked by children. The sweets are light on the stomach & very high quality. Prices reflect the high quality of sweets.
Vien sells sweets made from best quality cottage cheese or 'chena'. The sweets practically melt in your mouth. I always look forward to visit their shop.

"Vien" is my all time favourite sweet shop.... absolute value for money...quality of first order...specially the laddoos are irresistible ! Above all the conduct and humility of Mr. Indranil Ghosh, the owner is Praiseworthy. 🤩
You must visit this shop during winter. They provide the best gurer Rosgolla. Must try hot rosogolla.

Best Rasogolla, specially the kesar ones which I have had in my life
U cannot return from Kolkata without having their mouthwatering wet Sondesh (both the regular ones and the gur ones) and their Rosholollas are to die far. By far the best in Kolkata.! i wish you could courier them to me in Mumbai :)
A tiny shop but with big flavors. The rasgolla is to die for. I had eaten one warm for the first time and understood why people rave about this sweet. The Sandesh is fabulous. I actually carried a huge selection back with me, but my family finished it in 2 days.
Their rasgullas and sandesh are amazing
I walked 35 minutes to try their Rosogolla for the first time. It was delightfully worth it. So so delicious you can't stop after having just one. If you visit in winter, you also get Gurer Rosogolla (Rosogolla made out of jaggery) which is heavenly delicious. This made my day. And night.
Best hot Rasgolla in town. Take your time to cool them off a little to enjoy them. Please go after 5 pm if you want hot Rasgolla.
While walking, it was a random thought to get some dhoi from this outlet, must appreciate his friendly nature, excellent service with no hue, and very for change and fresh doi...overall a wonderful experience and look forward to the next visit
Amazing sweets Best in town.
Quality of the sweets are awesome. The price may seem to be high but I think its okay as per location. If you are willing to taste good quality of sweets near Shakespeare Sarani, then Vien is the best place.
The best bengali sweet shop i have been visiting since my teen age.
It has the same taste and quality as always love the sandesh their specially the Misti dhai which completes my most of the Sunday lunch and dinner.
It's just near Shakespeare sarani police station if anyone wishes to try it.
One of my favorite sweet shop in kolkata. Its a boon that its near my office. A special recommendation to all, must try out the rasgulla. One of its kind and One of the best of kolkata. Hospitality is excellent
