I have visited this restaurant a no. Of times, and each and every time i go i feel this restaurant is the perfect restaurant for the bang for the buck....This is one of the most pocket friendly restaurants i know till date.....this does not make us compromise with the quality of food that they give us...I myself highly recommend this restaurant if you have small budget....
Extremely tasty!
This has been my favourite since time immortal and can't still get over this dish!
One of the best restaurant I have tasted food from. Yes this restaurant is really awesome. Food taste is outstanding. Price is also very good. After ordering food, waiters serve them in little time. Well decorated with tables and nice chairs.

Being a bangali I don't know who've not ate here. Visiting this place since childhood and now with friends it is kinda all same. Though the prices and the taste have slightly changed but it is still my favourite in case of snacks at Hatibagan area right opposite to town school.
Things to try here:
โFish/Chicken Kabiraji
โFish Fry
โChicken Cutlet
I have been going to restaurant
And still i go
It never fails to satisfy my hunger
Chicken Kabiraji
And gravy chowmin is the best to with
Been to this place before. One of the oldest place in the city. It has a bit of heritage taste in the restaurant.
Coming to the food, we had mixed gravy chow amd mutton kabiraji. Both the dishes were delicious.
The serve it hot and the service qqs too quick..
Overall a good place to hangout...
If you want to feel nostalgia of kolkata, should visit this place once.i have been thier customer for long.tried most of their dishes. A perfect place for snacks and dinner with pocket friendly price. A must visit in hatibagan.
The place where I've been eating since my childhood. It's an all time crowd gathering place. Though the qualities of food items have deteriorated but nevertheless it has the vintage ambiance.
My friend took me to this place.
Located in Hatibagan.

This restaurant gives you a North Kolkata Vibe completely. Situated in Hatibagan, this is the ideal place for relaxation and work. I always order gravy chowmein, fish fry and Chilli Paneer. Pocket pinch is affordable and the food quality is really nice.
The ambience is nice and spacious too.
I will try other items soon. But the above mentioned food is my favourite
This is a non-ac but extremely pocket-friendly restaurant situated in Hatibagan four-point crossing (towards Shovabazar metro). The ambiance or interior gives us the actual flavor of old north Calcutta. I ordered one 'Chicken Kabiraji' and one 'Moglai Paratha'. They served kabiraji with mustard sauce and salad, later served moglai (but they didn't give aloo sabji) with tomato sauce and salad. Moglai was good but Kabiraji was extremely tasty. As a 'kabiraji' lover, I will suggest to go there and enjoy kabiraji with family or friends.
Good place to hangout, they serve Indian and Chinese but my personal favorite here is they really serve some good fries like fish fries and stuffs. One more thing I would like to add it's very pocket friendly this place.

I have been to this place a lot many times. The quality and quantity have always remained the same. The interiors echoes to the ancient North Kolkata. The place is spacious and clean. I usually order gravy chowmein and mixed fried rice everytime I visit there. They always comes warm and topped with an egg. But I guess it's time I go for something new. They also serve the food items pretty quick. What is adorable is the behaviour of the staffs. The sincerity and honesty of the staffs will shake you off your feet. They have hold the age old elegance and prosperity of the place. The price is extremely minimal for such quality and quantity. Long live, Naba Malancha!
The very old popular in kabiraji platters,.. is known as Malancha! In north kolkata it is like a delicious one to go through... after the movie.. or having any dates! It serving hot with mastard sauce and the process of making this is also gives water in the mouth...
Evening blessings!
Naba Malancha one of the old food joint of Hatibagan
Area,basically it opens at evening.
We ordered mixed fried rice and garlic chicken.
Both were good in taste and quantity was enough.
If any one looking for good food at pocket friendly resturent then go for it.
It is not related to the original Malancha. However it's items like Fried Rice, Chilli Chicken, Fish Kabiraji and others are excellent. It is located right at Hatibagan Junction.
Naba malancha is your go to place if you want a good meal at a reasonable rate. Have being going their since childhood and the staff are quite courteous and polite. A bit more time is taken for the food to get cooked. Their moghlai paratha and chowmein are recommended
๐ถ PARATHA AND CHICKEN MANCHURIAN ๐ถ

This restaurant is extremely pocket friendly. It is a very renowned restaurant because of the great quality of food it serves with such low prices.
In the heart of Hatibagan this restaurant is situated. This old franchise offered you some really good stuff. They maintain a delicious food in a pocket friendly prize range. Espeically their kabiraji is Awesome. If you have a tight budget and looking for some good food. Than try it once
It is vary famous and well known resturant in hatibagan area. I visit #Nabamalancha many time. This time suddenly plan to eat something evening Snacks, so we all go and ordered Moghlay Paratha, Fish kobiraji.
Last week i go to this place with my friends.
We orderd there fish Kabiraji & fish cutlet.
Kabiraji size so much bigger then expected. Taste was good & cutlet also taste good.
Price is pocket friendly.
Good sitting arrangements

It is a old, famous restaurant with dishes which are pocket friendly. The restaurant is not that much fancy but it is indeed spacious and stuff behavior is OK. You may wait a bit as many people come to visit this restaurant. You can get both chinese and mughlai dishes. The quantity is great and price is low ..Quality is OK. Who hasn't heard of this age-old place in North Calcutta? Located in Hatibagan More, this place has maintained that same retro feel and ambience that it used to have even during the times of our grandparents. The ambience might not resemble the ones at cafes, but you're undoubtedly gonna love it. The service is pretty quick. I've been there many a times. I love their fish kabirajis, cutlets and fish fingers all of which are available within unbelievably reasonable prices. Recently, I tried out their parathas and mutton kosha. It had 4 succulent pieces of mutton prepared to perfection with the right amount of spices, which was available just for 120 bucks.
Good place, north kolkata ambience.. Food quality and quantity are also appreciable..! Mutton biriyani was like hot cake.. Fast serving.. A must try place in north kolkata!
Famous for its fried items in the quintessential lanes of North Kolkata. This famous shop serving the famous fried items for many items and people just love it. The flavours and the taste have remained intact and people have loved it.ย Must try out items: Fish fry and Chicken Cutlet
Another pure typically quaint North Calcutta restaurant on the western side of the Hatibagan crossing.
This restaurant is one of those who have come a long way serving generations and still believe in feeding good foods and shy away from glitz and glamour.
Some of their dishes recommended passionately,Mutton Kassa,Mutton Do Piyaza,Chicken Kabirazi.
One must wonder that how so delectable food could come at such amazingly affordable price.
A fascinating view of the passing trams and hand pulled rickshaws at the doorstep makes the meal even more memorable and exciting.
I have been visiting this place since I was a child.
An old place that serves declicious kabiraji and a list of other mouth watering snacks.
Will keep visiting this place again and again!
We ordered fish kobirajii, fish fry, mutton cutlet and chicken cutlet.
I really liked the fish kobiraji and fish fry - though they were not as good as the Kolkata biggies like Mitra cafe, but was quite good. You can go for a quick snack here if you are somewhere near hatibagan.
***Disclaimer - do not come here if you cannot do without ac ;)
Pocket friendly resturant ovio.. So I have tried like 3 or more Dish, Nd now I am gonna give a review,
Mix fried rice - quantity is enough for 2 according to me, 9/10. Price -110
Chili chicken - 8 peices price -110. 8/10.
Chicken kabiraji - 8.8/10. Price -75.
Biriyani - quantity is enough for 1. 7.5/10 . Price -110(chicken) 120(mutton).
Personally I think that if you are going to share a plate of Biriyani Nd u want a extra peice of chicken or mutton it costs -80 or 90 .so it is better to have a full plate.
Thank you.
An old restaurant near the Star Theatre in Hatibagan. The Fish Kabiraji and Fish Fry are pretty tasty. Personally, I liked the fry more. Its pure fish and the taste is also top notch. The Kabiraji is way too oily. But the taste is good nevertheless. The place isn't fancy like modern eateries. The waiters are courteous and friendly. Most importantly it is pocket friendly. Definitely worth a try.
Place is good and food quality is also good. i like the service and the is not too much high its pocket friendly. its a very old place i order fish kabiraji and moghlai.both are tasty .
If you want to taste quality food with very low budget in hand, u should have visit this place..
Mixed Fried Rice and Fish Kabiraji here are just faboulous.. You won't get upset by the quantity too, One plate of fried rice is more than enough for two people..
Since my childhood I've eaten here. Here food is cheap but really delicious. Hatibagan's one of old restaurant.
Ambiance - 6/10
Food - 8/10
Must visit with your family.
The ultimate street food shop in heart of Hatibagan Kolkata,The evening snacks specially Chicken Kabiraji, Fish cutlet are really mouth watering food.Must try once who till not try it.
If you love streetfood you will love this place. Situated at Hathibagan, it's famous for kabiraji chicken and fish and I love their mughlai paratha. Miss this place in Bangalore ๐
been here an awesome place to dine out with friend or during shopping. cheap rate food with a good quality. And the quantity they give is really good it can satisfy 2 persons tummy at one plate.
The place is located just at the Hatibagan crossing. As we went there at 6:30 and were in a mood for some snacks so ordered the chicken kabiraji and a chicken gravy chowmein. The egg batter on the kabiraji was so fluffy, though it was a bit oily. The kabiraji was filled with enough chicken. The gravy chowmein was really good and one plate is enough for two people. It was filled with chicken and veggies and had a boiled egg on top. I liked it more than the kabiraji. Overall a really good place with cheap rates and yummy food.
P.S: the staffs are really friendly. ๐
At Hatibagan (North Kolkata), This is arguably the best place to have Fish/Chicken Kabiraji at reasonable price (Starts @ Rs.75) without compromising the Quality. Crunchy on the outside, juice and soft in the inside is the best description of this trademark food item. But the only drawback is, they do not pay proper attention towards presentation of Foods. Non-AC Sitting Arrangement is Ok type. Otherwise, All is well. A Must try for Food Lovers. โบ
Hope to visit this place very soon !!!

Naba Malancha is one of the oldest place situated in hatibagan..
Foods are just delicious.. One plate kabiraji is enough .. the quantity and quality of food are very good..
Naba Malancha is one of the oldest eateries in North Kolkata. Located near hatibagan crossing on the opposite to Canara bank. Coming to the food, Mutton kabiraji, chicken cutlet, mutton korma is definitely worth a try. Service is fast. Pocket pinch is very much affordable.
Naba Malancha always gives me a satisfactory service..... located in Hatibagan.... specially the Fish fry, fish cultet, fish kabiraji attracts me..... worth spending money ๐๐
The location of this place barely needs a description as it is located in Hatibagan area. I have been visiting this place since my childhood and this place never fails to dissapoint. I am that kind of person who believes in food first, ambience second. What matters is what i am eating and not decors i am seeing. This restaurant is a typical north kolkata restaurant with minimal decors but great foods.
Things to order here:-
Mutton Kobiraji
Chicken Cutlet
Moglai Paratha
Mutton korma
Mutton kasha
Though they also serve chinese food but i am not a big fan of their chinese delicacies and prefer the above mentioned foods better.
This restaurant will serve you with the best food with minimal prices. If you are near hatibagan or sova bazar area, do give it a try in this heritage food joint
Situated at the zing of hatibagan it has a mughlai cuisine typically favoured by Bengali's in north kolkata.. I ordered for mughlai parantha and chilly chicken which has a typical bengali flavour of being sugary spicy . The place run's packed as the food quality is good and reasonable. The ambience is not good and a place looks uncleaned and walls are never repaired, but who cares when we get value for money food.
Visit this place on a hungry evening...due to our late visit most of the snacks items were unavailable....
So we had to order 1 plate of chilly chicken boneless and 5 paratha....
Order comes after 10 minutes....
Food: food was tasty....1 plate of chilly chicken has 8 boneless pieces....paratha was lil bit oily....Chilly chicken costs 100 per plate and paratha rs 7 per piece....
Management : management was good and they serves food ASAP....reasonable price....tax free....
This is a sreet food stall.I m really not a street food person. But hands down this shop serves amazing self satisfying chicken kabaraji. Go and grab some.
This is a very old eatery located near hatibagan. Mainly famous for cutlet, fry and kabiraji. But other dishes like chowmin, rice etc are also very good. Price is reasonable and quantity is sufficient. As it has a very old look/decor many people avoid this eatery, they are nothing but neglecting a hidden gem on the heart of city.
The kabiraji is the best.It is located near hatibagan crossing. An old place so,the place may look a little shabby without an ac or comfy chairs. But, the food is good.
Hey foodies... If u want a budget hotel, for value worth foods, just come to here. It's on the 4 point crossing of hatibagan. They have good foods, prompt take away service, good quantity of foods. Only one thing I'm missing is qwality of foods are not as earlier (old foodies can say it better, than me) but till it's a good place to hang out with economical budget. Just giving my points as below :
1. I'm uploading the price menu.
2. Food quality - 3.5 / 5.
3. Food quantity - 4 / 5.
4. Ambience - 2 / 5.
5. Varity of food - 4 / 5.
6. Service - 4 / 5.@
7. Price @ food - 4.5 / 5. (1 is costlier 5 is cheaper)
8. X factor - Main point crossing at hatibagan & previous goodwill.
It's a very old eatery on the opposite to Canara Bank, Hatibagan. Very close to my place. I have been to this eatery numerous times. Few Days back on the day of Ratha Yatra my sister suddenly wanted to have dinner with some outside foods though Mom already have completed with dinner menu. No Home Delivery, No Cards. Went there and ordered 3 Moghlai Paratha and 2 Chicken Kabiraji. I have noticed the recent increase in prices. Quality remains the same. Moghlai Paratha was fantastic. With a layer of feelings inside along with Masala, it was really an Wow item. ย
Extremely pocket friendly decent family restaurant. Kolkata is fondly remembered as a city of food lovers and it would be unfair not to mention the places which helped us gain this name. An old eatery, zero decor, slightly cushioned benches and tables, no ac, senior staffs but fabulous food - if these can turn you on, this place is a must visit for every soul who lives for food.
One of the most pocket friendly restaurants in North Kolkata. Quality has never been been compromised though it is always advised to take away your food rather than having over there. Best place for refreshments for college goers and people who hop around Hatibagan Market.
Only for one thing, I have visited this place a lot of times. That's chicken Kobiraji. They have a lot of other choices of my preference, like fish Kobiraji, mutton kobiraji, fish fry and other stuffs. Ambience is like you are stuck in old 'Calcutta' , which we usually find in old b/w movies. I'm ready to go there again and again for their kabiraji...
Must try...
1) Chicken Kobiraji
2) Fish Fry
3) Mutton Kabiraji
Naba Malancha, located at Hatibagan. Its easy to locate. Its one of my favourite restaurant in Hatibangn frm my childhood days. Ambiance is cosy tym bt the place always full. Food is delicious and its range was affordable. Its famous for Mutton Kabiraji, Mutton chanp, Moglai pratha, Chinese dishes & Biryani also good.
Thanks ๐
Old mouth watering delicacy in North Kolkata. Located near Hatibagan. Food and service are good. Offers delicious dishes at reasonable prices.
Went there a few months ago...food is good. . Quality was not bad. ...but fried rice was very bad. ......... ............chicken kaviraji was very testy. ...mutton kosha & laccha paratha was ๐๐๐๐
A retro hotel at the main market of Hatibagan. It looks same as it was in 80s. Food's good but a bit unhygienic. Go for Kabiraji and fish cutlet. Don't go for main course or Chinese items.
Malancha is form the vintage restaurants in kolkata. They always maintain their tradition in their food menu. In every year at the time of the Durga Puja, after hoping the mondops in North Kolkata. I always prefer this restaurant to give relief to my belly from hunger. Every time when i visit in this restaurant, I order my favourite dish "Afgani with Plain Paratha" most of the time. But their Fried Rice, Kosha Mangsho, and Chicken Butter Masala are also mouth melting. I really like the simplicity of this place.
This is also one of my favourite place in hatibagan...... too good food... i love their all types of food spclly the snacks one......... they serve too good chicken chop. Fish chop. Firsh fry etc.... i just love all..... very pocket friendly shop...must try in this shop......................mouthwatering all food are...................
Yeah! It's Fish Kabiraji my dear. If you ever eat here, fish kabiraji is what you should eat here. Although some Chinese like Chowmein and Fried Rice is also available. They also serve these dishes in half quantity, a very well known formula of old-school Bengali restaurants to cater petty customers. Good enough in tidiness and fast enough in services. One thing to note, this restaurant opens at late afternoon and closes very early at 10 and during this time they are the busiest in the town. Do not forget to try Fish Kabiraji if you are even within 2 km radius and my rating is based on those Kabirajis.
The fish kabiraji, the kachoris, etc etc, everything is great here. If u r near hatibagan, u should definitely try the fish kabiraji. Its awesome.
After mitro cafe malancha no came.... fishfry ta just good..chicken cutlet ta just tooo goood...
Food quality : 4.5/5
Service :4/5
Next time I try kobiraji๐ด
This stall has the best best best chicken and fish cutlets ever. Sometimes the stuffing is a little more. But sometimes if you're lucky the chicken or fish is more. But both excusable since they taste one of a kind.
My one of the most favorite restaurant is Nabo Malancho in Hatibagan.Every Mouth I came here for delicious foods. My favorite items is Mixed Fried Rice and chili fish . And there chicken kobiriji and mutton, fish kobiriji also very good. This restaurant is one of the oldest restaurant in Hatibagan era. In my point of view say if u are a food lover or foodie's then u have to visit this place.
Legendary places like this represent the actual North Kolkata food culture. They're present since ages and the food quality they serve for the price that you can't get in any modern new restaurant and cafes.
Their snacks and North Indian dishes are worth trying, they also serve Chinese items. I took gravy items for dinner.
Chicken Kosha @ Rs.90 (4/5)
Mutton Korma @ Rs.170 (3.5/5)
Chicken Kasha has the authentic taste, big chicken piece and just right number of spices. Mutton Korma gravy has sweet nature, 4 small well-cooked pieces. Both were perfect to go with roti or their luchi like parathas. But both were bit too oily.
Highly recommended if you love to explore North Kolkata food. I hope to try their other items in future. Just remember they only accept cash.
A typical north Calcutta ambience, serving the taste buds with exceptional good quality of food for over 25 years for me. Love this place
North Calcutta Cabin Culture and its 'bhajabhuji' ...
Places near to my house..its in Hatibagan and 5 minutes away from Sovabazar metro..
From cutlets to fried rice, all types of fusion food are available here...
Most of the time food is brought.
This time we went to the restaurant...
Tried Fish Fry and Chicken Cutlet...
If we come to the taste...thats so_so.....
It doesn't taste like it used to.....
The price is affordable though. But still I will also give some food recommendations.....
Fried Rice with Chilly Chicken or Manchurian and Afghani Cutlet,Fish Finger,Mughlai etc...
"NOTHING BUT CASH IS TAKEN HERE"
You can go to eat once
A place that represents the food culture of north Kolkata. This place has sort of become our second home considering how much we have visited it in our college years.
And more times than not i order this combination of paratha and mutton kosha. The crispy paratha and succulent mutton pieces that fall off the bone. And elite combination.
Paratha are 10rs/piece
Mutton kotha 160rs for 4pieces
This place is located close to C/o Bangali restaurant. Malancha is popular eatery for office goers as it offers good quality food at a cheap price. Had Chicken Kabiraji, mixed fried rice and Chili chicken (6-8 pcs). Ask the waiter about the number of pieces before ordering. Really loved the chicken Kabiraji and the mixed fried rice was also good. The chicken pieces in chili chicken was a little chewy but the gravy was good.
The waiter was also nice and helpful. Overall a 5 out of 5 for the quality with respect to the price.
It's an old cabin located near the star theatre. We tried the chicken cutlet and the fish kabiraji. The taste was quite good. They only accept cash.

This is one of the iconic cabin of north Kolkata. The food quality is very good. It is cash only. No card, UPI accepted. Atmosphere is quite hot. No AC. The place is not much airy.
Very old famous place in North Kolkata, located near Hatibagan crossing. If you are looking for Kabiraji, Fish Fry and Cutlets this is one of the places. Pocket pinch for two people is about Rs.300/- and try to carry cash if you are visiting this place.
It is literally one of the best and cheap restaurants out there in Hati Bagan More. The food is very tasty, hygienic and serving is super fast. Just have to wait 5-6 mins and your order is available. The water served is clean and potable. Payments only through cash. The atmosphere is good, not so crowded and not too lonely. People visit and they enjoy having lunch and especially dinner there. Although parking is not available, autorickshaws and buses are available to many corners of Kolkata, so connectivity is very good. Overall I would definitely recommend visiting Hatibagan Market for shopping and Naba Malancha Restaurant to dine in.
A very good place for fast foods like fish fries, chicken cutlets, chicken breast, mutton cutlets and many more...
One can have fried rice and othe food option too ..
But my only suggestions will be all fries..
All fried foods are super good. Price is pocket friendly and taste is awesome.
I visit here for my evening food craves.
I have visited this cabin so many times and it never fails to disappoint me. I have tried almost every item from their menu card. ๐๐
I highly recommend fish/chicken afgani, Kabiraji, mixed fried rice โ
Great place for food.
But, if you look for ambience it might slightly disappoint you. There are plenty of nicely decorated cafes out there. Come here for some good food. ๐ค
The place is very good for food. We had chicken kabiraji and moglai, and both the items are really lip licking. The place has the essence of old calcutta and the foods are really good.
A good place with a rich history is the only reason to visit there. Otherwise the food is good but not good enough
I don't know how I missed this gem till now! Being a foodie and a frequent visitor of Niranjan agar, Mitra cafe etc. this, I consider as a sin! This is a very good restaurant which is not having any animosity with your wallet! They have a wide variety of dishes available (PL check the menu card attached). All the dishes are lip smackingly delicious. You will find the best chowmeins and chilly chickens here. Arguably, they are the only restaurant in the whole world who gives, full boiled egg with chowmeins. Their cutlets are heavenly. We also had mutton dopiyaza along with parathas! They were also excellent. The staffs are very friendly, so is their manager. However, don't expect ac and high quality ambience. The interiors are more like the ones we had in the 1980s and 90s. A must try place for every foody. ๐๐
This shop is also as good as Adi Malancha , but somehow I prefer the Adi Malancha. The dine place seems shabby but food is awesome. Behaviour is also nice. Cutlet, chop, kobiraji are the main attractions where one can find also other snack options. Rate is also reasonable.
The food is great. The staffs are very good. The owner has a irritating personality.
Above all, the fish Kabiraji is awesome.

Naba Malancha is situated at exactly Hatibagan more near Start theatre. This place is very famous for kabiraji. They serves Fish/chicken/mutton/prawn kabirajis as well at the price of 75/65/70/100 accordingly . You canโt cross the shop without visiting once. Excellent food quality and tastes great. The ambiance will not going to attract you, so the best is take away system or else you can seat if you like it.
