Located inside of Dhakshinapan!,Potter Bibi is a small & cozy restaurant, the food they serve is good!
Only problem is,that is not easy to find.
The thing,I liked the most is that they don't charge you extra (Tax).
Well i went for the second time and honestly loved the food and people there again. loved the pulao and kosha mangsho.. The spice was amazing in it. The ambiance as usual was perfect. The staff was very friendly and kept asking if the food was to my liking. The pricing is reasonable too. Would recommend this place to all my friends, a must visit!
One of the best places in town, if you want to tickle your taste buds with some authentic bengali cuisine. And the best part is, that this place is pocket friendly too. While there are a couple of bangali restaurants springing up in the city, Poter Bibi is definitely one of the places I'd prefer to go, for the food and the ambiance.
Try out the cutlets, Kosha mangso, and am sure you won't be disappointed.
happy eating :)
I came across this small restaurant accidentally while shopping at Dakhinapan. As it was evening time I opted for some snacks. I agree that choice is limited for snacks as this is a main course Bengali food restaurant. We ordered Fish Roll, Fish Fry & Egg Devil along with lassi ( as tea or coffee was not available ) Fish roll was awesome. Filling was only of fish which we rarely get in any restaurant & the fish fry was the best I had in any restaurant in Kolkata. Egg devil was ok. Quality of food was extremely good. I would definitely visit this place for main course.
It is a wonderful place to have some really authentic Bengali food, with a taste that would appeal to all. I recommend Poter Bibi to any visitor to Kolkata.
This is one little place run by a young boy and girl.Make a point to visit sometime, when you are at Dakkhinapan, shopping or watching a theater. Either ways. the shopping complex doesn't have many eateries.
The Menu there seems nice, the people who run are smart and nice, They themselves take order, as well as serve and take your pay.The restaurant doesn't have too many tables. The Pulau and Chicken Kasha was good.Cheicken Kasha is a special mention there according to me.The price is alright and quantity enough for two in a plate.

If anyone wants to experience what may be called a 'homely bengali feast', look no further. This is the place to experience bengali cuisine. And yes, it is quite hospitable unlike many well known restaurants.

Good food and in your budget. I personally am fond of the fish roll. Definitely one of the better places to go with your family and friends if you are craving an authentic Bengali cuisine experience.
Had been to the place yesterday, for lunch, with family.Very warm reception, good ambiance, soothing music.Ordered a mini platter of luchi, chicken kosha, followed by rice, shukto(very tasty with strips of fried coconut),dal, alu posto, chingri diye kanchkolar kofta,Chingri bhapa, mourolar bati jhaal, mourolar tok..the fish preparations were good indeed but the mourolar tok needed some refinement. And,i think, there is a scope of betterment in the quantity of rice portion served.Overall, the place needs more footfall ,to keep going..it is worth all appreciation.
A cozy li'l place that would strike you as warm & welcoming, as you step into the small restaurant tucked away in a corner of Dakshinapan. The decor is simple and easy on the eye (I personally love that neatly set window, framed by dainty curtains) , oozing the familial touch that you are bound to experience in your interactions with the De family, who run the show here. The menu is out and out Bangali. Having visited this place only for snacking till now, my experience with their food has been limited to chicken cutlet and fish finger, which were easy on the palette, and had a distinctively homemade touch, though the dip served with the latter was a bit too sour for my taste. What I have always missed in this place is a refreshing drinks menu, which would complement the kind of food served here. Looking forward to additions and experiments on this front.
All in all, this place is definitely on my list for sumptuous meals on lazy afternoons, or some light bites over friendly addas.
Closest thing to a homecooked meal in the city. The ambiance and the people just add to the general warmth with which the food is prepared and served lovingly to the customer. With soft jazz playing in the background and the reasonable pricing, this place is perfect for a first date, a meet the parents, or just quality time with the family.
