Orchid is a chineese restaurant located at Elgin and serves some of the best yet cheap Chinese food in town.
This are something we tried --
✓ Chicken momos - Their steam Momos we're good , but I would have expected the filling to be more in quantity . The Momo chutney
✓ Chicken pan fried Momo's - This tasted good with the garlic flavour infused in the pan fried sauce is something you must try.
✓ Fish barter fry in chili garlic sauce - This was a super hit dish with the perfect amount of crisp of the barter and the perfect amount of chili garlic sauce on it to tickle your tastebuds.
Overall the experience was pleasant. The interior was shady but was typical to the Info Chineese joints that started long back. Orchid is one of the four Tebetian and Chineese joints in Elgin and their food won't dissapoint you.

I tried:
1. mix chilli garlic noodles : very spicy, great taste, good quantity. If you are a spicy food Lover do try this. Highly recommended.
2. Mix hakka noodles : tastes great. Generous quantity. Loved this too.
3. Special Fish Fry : this is basically pan fried fish. Tastes great. Recommended.
4. Momos : Disappointed. I ordered Chicken steam momo and pan fried momo. The steam momo felt like veg momo though tastes great but there was hardly any chicken in the stuffing. Secondly the pan fried momo : highly disappointed. They didn't fry it at all. It was just steam momo in sauce. Not in fried sauce, just in sauce. You can understand this from the picture also. I liked the soup though.
Best Place for Momo lovers at cheap rates.. We tried Sauce momo just at Rs150.. must try✔ ..Ac resto and well-maintained ambience,☺ but the sitting area is bit small✌ Good for small hangouts💯😍
the crispy chicken is to die for i never tried this before and i loved soo much that i visited the place around 3times for the perfectly cooked crispy spicy chicken
This is a perfect place for some quick bites, situated right beside Momo Plaza. We ordered one thukpa and one gravy momo. I preferred the first one. This place is very pocket friendly as well.
Visited this place during the Christmas rush. However, it was surprisingly empty. The primary reason is the price. It's on the higher side. And frankly, it wasn't that well decorated.
Cell reception inside the restaurant is really poor. I saw a sign of free WIFI, but it didn't work. I was going to rate it badly, but then I got the food.
One plate of hakka chowmein was more than enough for two people. And the side dish (hong-kong chicken) had 10 pieces. The food tasted good. So, no complaints on that part.
The place is quite good .... The foods are veryyyyyyyyyyy tasty...I just love the chicken pakoras that they make over here ...just love the food !! The staff is also quite good but they are very slow ! Takes quite a lot of time to prepare the food....but the food is veryyy delicious !! But inside the restaurant there is no network😞....

Located beside Momo plaza, this is a small air-conditioned tibetan joint. The interior is warm and yellow. Coming to food, I ordered one Pork Thupka and fell in love with it. This one was very tasty and delectable unlike the usual clear thupkas found elsewhere and quite fulfilling. A must try if you like tanginess in your thupkas. Their momos are worth a try too.
This is one of the oldest restaurant in elgin. one should try their soups and momos only..momos are quite good but yes it is overpriced.. I tried Lung fung soup and it is one of their best items..and yes one part of the restaurant is under renovation. And i hope they will sort out the issues soon.
Visited with Debabrata Ghora
Good place for groups. We ordered steamed momos, pan fried momos, complementary soup, fried rice, pepper chicken nd Chicken thukpa.
The chicken was very good, the momos could use a little more filling even though the taste was good, the thukpa was great, the fried rice reminded of old days rice.
Overall very good experience nd surely don't deserve the 2.9 rating currently in place

We love the food here. We reached quite late but the service was quick. We ordered mixed chowmin, chicken fried rice, chilli chicken, grill fish etc. It's a pocket friendly restaurant. This kiddo in the below pictures loved the place as well. Thank you team orchid.
I love momos. Steamed Momo here is really a must try. Good place for hangouts. Noodles and other dishes are also worth trying. One plate of momo will surely make your evening.
Life seldom gives us chances to experience something unexpected....haha😂
That is exactly what happened when we visited this place tucked away in the lanes of exide...near brand factory , very near from rabindra sarovar metro station.
It was late and we were starving. Ordered
Pork pan fried Momo- Simply lipsmacking! The momos were quite decent sized and the sauce that coated the momos was just perfectly seasoned.Loved it.
Egg fried rice-Simply amazing!!The rice was so flavourful and perfectly cooked .We just couldn't have enough of it. And the quantity of rice was perfect for two hungry souls.
Diced garlic chicken- Simply delicious. The right side dish for that delicious rice. The quantity was decent. The juicy chicken chunks left us craving for more.
Hot food on a wintery evening in itself is magical... and that too when the food is so delicious.
Their pricing is their USP. Our bill came to just 500!!
The service was quick and the staff courteous.
The decor is pretty minimalistic.Basic to be precise.
Will be visiting again soon.

After a long eventful evening time spending near Maidan area, we were searching for a place that serves food in a pocket friendly budget and guess what, we found this place. Actually we planned to visit the Hamro Momo, but it was almost 9:30PM and the place was closed, so we decided to have our dinner in this place. So let's come & explore this place.
Location - From the metro lane, take the left turn towards Lee road and you will found this place on your right side. Nearest metro station is Rabindra Sadan Gate no. 3.
When we entered this place, there were no customer inside, so after giving the order our food was served quickly.
We ordered -
1. Pork Pan Fried Momo - 6 pieces of big sized momo were there with spicy tangy sauce. The momo was filled perfectly & the sauce was super awesome. Unfortunately the soup they served with it was not worthy at all. We simply just ignore the soup while having our momos.
2. Egg Fried Rice - The quantity of rice was sufficient for two. Less oily & the portion of veggies were somehow I felt less in quantity. Taste wise good and little saltiness attracts me a lot. Overall good.
3. Diced Chicken Hot Garlic - 8 pieces of mid sized chicken pieces were there in thick spicy gravy. Chicken pieces were soft, juicy & tender enough. The gravy had a perfect blend of sweet & spiciness. It goes excellent with the rice.
The bill amount for these three dishes were around 500 Rs. which is very decent pricing. With good food and pocket friendly pricing, this place is worthy trying. Overall we had a good dining experiences.
it's very small and very cozy with good quality and lip smacking food. the best item I have had there is the special pork roast. that tastes mesmerizingly heavenly.
Near Netaji Bhawan Metro Station..
Good ambience..service was good.. Staff was good Food so testy and spicy chicken rice chili chicken and hot& sour soup.
Lipsmacking momos just next to Momo Plaza at Elgin road. For the first time I thought of giving Orchid a fair chance in satiating my hunger as almost always I hop onto Momo Plaza. But I must say they made my day so much better. Tried their Panfried Pork Momos & Panfried Veg Momos. Both were outstanding and the sauce was to die for. Definitely coming back for the same.
Foof is great. The service is good. But when u enter the restaurant ur phone looses connectivity. The space is also small, so too many people not possible at same time. Overall experience is really good.
I visited this place today.. And I loved the food..the price was very pocket friendly.. Food was delicious..
We ordered
1.Chicken Tupka
2.American Chopsuey(Non Veg)
Chicken tupka was very good..and the chopsuey was amazing..
Pocket friendly (5/5)
Taste (4.5/5)
Ambiance (3.5/5)
It was a friend's bday treat. After work, we met at elgin road & just saw this place & entered inside. The decor is quirky, graffiti adorned the walls, ambience was classy & some B& W pictures of old calcutta made up a significant portion of the wall decor. In terms of food, we ordered crispy fried baby corn in starters. In main course, we ordered the chef's special sliced pork hong kong &the schzewan prawn fried rice. The rice was tasty, adequate helpings of prawn, coupled with veggies & egg, but the pork side dish turned out to be pretty bland for our taste though the meat was tender & well cooked. The portions were adequate for two. Price is affordable. Overall a good experience. Definitely recommended. Sandip Das
Went there with friends for lunch. We order chicken steam momos. They were quiet good.after that for the main course we ordered mix gravy noodles and Shanghai chicken.... They were excellent in taste..one should visit this place if you love Chinese cuisine.
Excellent food and ambiance.....had ordered Mongolian Chicken and chicken gravy noodles. But were excellent and mouth watering....will surely visit again
They have recently renovated their place. And much better than before. Food is really good and healthy too. They serve really very fresh food and quality and quantity too is really nice. Overall a good place to have food. Not the ambience is such attractive but food is and their chinese is specially a must try.
One plate is more than enough for one..... If you did not eat for 2 days...ignore first fact........................... ....... ...... . . . .
The renovated rejuvenated Orchid is 1000x better than its adjacent rival Momo Plaza. Where Momo Plaza has deteriorated drastically, Orchid improved manifold. Both quantity and quality of food are commendable. Staff behavior good also. The owner is humble too.

As Momo Plaza was under-construction and Tibetan Delight had long waiting time I went to Orchid with my family. Though the place is quite small but nicely decorated. We took Pan Fried Pork Momo, Veg Fried Rice and special Roasted Pork. The food was good and pocket friendly.
First of all I do love the Chinese dish. And I found your Chinese dishes very tasty. I love the soup most. But the place should be a bit bigger than now. Otherwise it's good. I can't compare the food with anything. Thanks.
If one need good Tibetan food within a decent price range then this food joint might come under consideration. I used to visit this place since my school days.
Ambience
Small etary. Not much space. Interior is newly done.
Service
Staffs are very helpful and well behaved.
Food
As I used to be a regular I ordered my all time favourite thukpa and roasted chilly pork.
Taste is great.
Quantity is enough for one.
Highly recommended!!
Nice place to try some Tibetan food. Hakka chowmein is good as well as Momos. However, soup is very bad. They need to improve this. New decoration & ambiance is good but, the washroom is very dirty.
We have reached there for two time.
We have eaten:
Chicken momo
Chicken fried momo
Mix hakka chowmein
Shredded pork
American chopsuey
Strictly average.... The waiting time for the food was a bit too much, they surely need to upgrade their service as they have upgraded the interior.... Good for a quick-bite.... But don't expect much....
Momo plaza was closed. So had to go there. And boy it was great. The food was awesome. The momos melted in the mouth. The chowmein had a hint of authenticity. I would though like a bit more chicken and prawn in the mixed chowmein. The chilly roasted pork made the evening divine.
this place has been renovated,, food is good and tasty .. quantity is also good. prices are tax inclusive .. the place looks really nice now. will visit again if possible
Overall it was a good experience, not outstanding not bad. I went there with my friends and we had to wait for seats as the restaurant is pretty small. So keep that in mind. It can accommodate approximately 20 people at a time.
Now coming to the Food. Food was good. I liked it. Not extraordinary but keeping the prices in mind I would say its a nice place to satisfy your cravings for Chinese food(Momos are really good, must try the chicken pan-fried one if you love spicy food).
Prices on the menu is moderate. Like not too high and not crazily cheap either.
The service was fine. The waiters do listen carefully and also ask for specification while taking orders of certain dishes.
As informed by the owner it has opened after 4 long months of shutdown due to renovation only couple of weeks back. The decor has been revamped thoroughly with designer false ceiling , warm yellow lights, designer tiles, mirrors, wooden cabinets, chic tables and AC fittings. Great thing is price has not increased and the food tastes as good as before. Definitely pleased to be back here again !!
A cozy little place with quality chinese food at a very reasonable price. Clear noodle soup, mushroom soup, mixed fried rice, pork momos, cheese chicken momos and chilli garlic noodles are some of the local favorites. Don't be fooled by the old appearance and lack of an A.C because the food and the natural coolness of the place due it's old age compensate for the ambience.
Budget oriental restaurant I have been frequenting since I was a kid and the one of the few places near my house which made lovely momos!!!
I remember having eaten there with almost everyone of my acquaintances and the standard of food waxed and waned but if you stick to the often beaten path of chilli chicken, noodles, or rice, hot garlic chicken and ofcourse momos you shall not be a loser!!! Orchid holds a special place in my heart and I shall go there again to sample some of my childhood favourites
A shady place on the road near sn pundit govt hospital, this restaurant is an age old joint serving oriental food. The very entrance may not be of any class, even the seating arrangements are quite road side shop type. But everything changes when you have the food.
The momos are special here- pan fried or steamed, great ones. Pork momos are must have with a light chicken stalk soup. For main course we had their schezwan mixed rice- little oily but tasty. The american chopsuey is again- too too good. Sweet and sour prawn a dish to go for if you are a seafood lover. A pleasure to palate on a whole.
P.s. as its a non- ac restaurant so sunny days will be difficult here, otherwise a good joint.
It is beside sambhunath pandit hospital..1st of all pocket friendly resturent..U will get verities of pork dishes in low prices..I have tasted double fried pork and pork roast..Both are good.. Resturent ambiance is good for all foodies..
Orchid used to be another of the places where we used to celebrate our birthday parties or other get together during our college days. This place also serves pork for quite dome time now. And they are worth mentioning in terms of quality. The Chinese foods other than momo are pretty decent though it is slightly overpriced. Overall, not a bad place for a quick bite or lunch or dinner with friends.
Awesome food. 5 of us went there today for lunch. The place is not that clean.but the food is just wow. We have ordered CHICKEN GRAVY CHOW, SZECHWAN FRIED RICE and CHILLI GARLIC HAKKA NOODLES. All the three dishes we had was very tasty. Each one had to pay Rs 95.its quiet cheap. The ambience or the place may stop u to entering the restaurant, but the food is really awesome.
This place is suitable for quick grab on food if you are really hungry and do not intend to spend much! :p
We went here to try out some momos and some chinese maincourse all of them in vegetarian!
We ordered a plate of veg steamed momo and when we wanted to try out some more veg momo, we were told that the veg momos are over and don't have any!
Then we wanted to try some chinese main course but since we are vegetarians, we could not find much options..so chose not to order!
The steamed momo was really good though!
A good place for non vegetarians!
This is one of those places that have been consistently maintaining a set standard. Tried their pork steamed momo and special thukpa. The pork steamed momo was as always good. But what sealed the deal was the amazing special thukpa with a sizeable amount of noodles chicken prawn and eggs. The taste was subtle and needed no garnishing. Highly recommended as a pocket friendly and healthy eatery.
3.5 for only noodles.. Food was good... But quantity was very less as per their price chart... But still u can go... Little nd ok restaurant.. Nothing spcl...
Located opposite to Chai Break, this is an awesome place for foodies on a budget. They serve pork among other Chinese food. I tried the special pork roast and it was delicious. The staff was friendly. I didn't rate it 5, because they don't have an option for cashless payment yet. I mean, come on, it's high time you accept cards.
Went to Orchid for some cheap food yesterday after a few drinks and well, it always is cheap there. If you're looking for ambience, turn around and walk away before you even enter the place, but, if you're looking for huge quantity of chinese food which is cheap, you've come to the right place. Let's go through the order now:
Fried veg momos - Huge sized momos, with good filling but oil was too much but I have no complaints like my friends who were dabbing it with their tissue papers
Mixed chilli garlic noodles - These noodles had a perfect balance which was not too spicy and had egg and chicken in it, when it first came we were shocked to see the quantity but well, we managed to finish it all.
Garlic chicken - We ordered this as the main side dish and it was amazing, not too spicy and just perfect to go with the chilli noodles.

This among the oldest places in the city that serves tibetan food. It is located at Elgin road, near rabindra sadan metro. The place is not very big and the ambiance is not at all praise worthy, but the food is good and it is a pocket friendly place. I've tried the chicken momo, which was juicy and good. The roasted chilli pork is amazing! It is a bit hot, but very well made.
A pretty decent place to dine without burning a hole in your pocket. It is situated in elgin road near brand factory. There is not too much to mention about the decor. It has just basic decorations with air conditioning. It has a seating arrangrment of maybe around 40 people. The staffs are pretty nice. We ordered lung fung soup which was delicious and creamy. Then we ordered mixed chowmein hakka and mixed chowmein gravy. Trust me the quantity was huge. And lastly for side dish we took hong kong chicken. Hong kong chicken was pretty average. The chicken pieces were were perfectly cooked. But i was a little dissapointed in the gravy. Overall a good dining experience.
Once we used to visit this restaurant very frequently. Food was very good specially the thupka. Visited after a long time. Food taste has gone down badly. Staff was busy talking to someone over phone so loudly
Quality of starters is very good and the price is reasonable. But I'm not very satisfied with the test of main course and based on quality i think price is overrated. Overall good experience.
We went and tried mixed fried rice, Hong Kong pork and pork momo , the filling inside the momo could've been better. The pork dish was pretty good , the mixed fried rice was normal.

Been visiting this place for the last 24 years. Consistently good local Chinese Food. Taste just hasn't changed in the last 24 years. And the pork momos are still to die for. Or take a life or two. Don't forget to try the accompanying soup with the momos.
Restaurant is very small but food quality is very good. Reasonable price.
Improvements can be made on packaging and quantity. Cuisine quality is mediocre.
Price is a bit high but the quality of food was very nice .. and atmosphere was very friendly..
tried haka chilli garlic..it was too "teekha" but loved it with chilli chicken
Quality is good, service is average, space is very tiny, ambience is average. Ac is not great... Momo is not so special
Very good food.. very good ambience. And the person who served us is very good. Nice behaviour, nice guy. Loved it. ❤️
Please try Pan fried Momo , lemon pepper chicken.
Quality and quantity of food are very good. Ambience of the place is awesome.
Very Nice Food. The staff is very friendly. And please ask for the quantity before ordering as they serve you a lot at such a reasonable price.
I was introduced to Momo here by my wife and since then it has always had a special place in our heart. I somehow miss to take images. But as a family we just love being there. Amazing food served by amazing staff.
