It was my bad luck to have chosen this outlet when they were busy packing food for order supply. There was hardly any place to sit, and hardly any person to help me. Ultimately one old staff came and helped me or else I was preparing to leave.
I chose dhokla, chhola frankie and Rabri.
Dhokla came with two types of chutneys and tasted fabulous. The Frankie was also quite tasty. The rabri was fantastic. Unimaginably delicious.
Price was OK.
I loved the staff who attended to me others kept themselves busy.
Price reasonable.
Do not in your wildest dreams think of parking.
The place is neat and clean.

Yesterday, we being from Mumbai, were craving to eat some stuff that will taste like the same. So we decided to go to Gokul for some quick snacks. Trust me it was perfect choice to eat. We had pav bhaji, club kachori and sabji and some samosas and all of them were simply tasty. Don't mind visiting the same place again and again to enjoy some more delicious and varieties of cuisine.

10 Item Pure Veg Food Carnival For Durga Puja 2018 @ Gokul Shree Sweets & Snacks, AJC Bose Road, Kolkata ☺

Duration: 13 - 21 Oct 2018

Timing: Lunch - Midnight

Bengali or non Bengali, 4-5 days of merry making during Durga Puja has now become a cultural norm with all Kolkata based households, which involves eating out everyday, or at least a couple of times during the festive period.

While almost all small and big diners serve a range of Puja specific non veg items or thalis, very few diners serve Puja specific veg items or thalis. Even so, this norm is almost non-existant amongst pure veg diners. Thus a lot of vegetarians, specially the elder people don't get to enjoy specialized meals during the Pujas.

Thankfully, this trend is on a change since last few years. So, this year Gokul Shree, the age old and popular sweets and snacks shop cum restaurant has come out with a well curated all veg and kind of all inclusive a 10 item Durga Puja special menu that comprises of - soup, starters, full meal combos and dessert.

A couple of days back they sent me a sumptuous food hamper along with a set of sturdy clay utensils for tasting and review.

The hamper comprised of the following items -

- Sangar Ka Kabab With Kachar Ka Chatni (Rs. 250/-): It comprised of 4 pieces of Sangar Ka Kababs which kind of looked two shades darker than the usual Hara Bhara Kababs (also present in the menu), a bowl of Kachar Ka Chutney and some salad juliennes made of primarily cabbage and some carrot.

These Kebabs were kind of new to me and thus seemed interesting. They were infused with a melange of spices like the usual Sangar Ki Sabji. The presence of salt was slightly high.

The Chutney had the look of the usual Garlic Chutney and it expectantly tasted little sour. This Chutney is not readily available in the city and I was happy to get my hands on some. It tasted good and also paired well with the Dal-Bati combo (mentioned below).

- Roasted Bati With Panchmela Dal And Choorma (Rs. 300/-): 2 pieces of laddoo shaped Batis and 2 pieces of tikiya shaped Batis came packed with a big bowl of mixed Pulses and half a big bowl of Choorma.

The round Batis were stuffed with a spicy besan mixture and the flattened Batis were sans any stuffing i.e. plain Batis.

Normally, the Bati stuffing comprises of a sattu mixture, so this besan aka gram flour stuffing was new to me, but the taste was familiar, as similar stuffing is used in Besan Ka Parathas in our and many other households.

The Batis were well roasted and crumbly in texture. The Dal had the the right proportion of assorted pulses. The Choorma was flavorsome, had some chopped nuts and thankfully it was not too sweet.

The entire combo could easily suffice two people and it tasted excellent.

- Handi Biryani (Rs. 200/-): A big clay handi came sealed with flour dough around it's lid. It was infused with fried onions, carrots, beans and some canned cherries.

The quantity present was good enough for 2-3 people. It tasted nice.

- Paneer Chap With Lachcha Paratha (Rs. 300/-): It comprised of a medium sized bowl of big paneer chunks in a non-spicy white gravy and 2 soft and flaky Lachcha Parathas.

The gravy had an extra presence of sabut kali mirch aka peppercorns, which caused a slight disturbance while eating. On the whole, the dish tasted good.

- Malabar Paratha With Chettinad Paneer (Rs. 300/-): It comprised of 2 Malabar Parathas carefully cut into a total of 4 halves and a big bowl of Chettinad Paneer.

Chettinad Paneer is a spicy and flavourful South-Indian dish. Made with a unique spice blend this curry is very different in taste from other paneer curries that we typically make in the North. It comprised of small paneer cubes submerged in a spicy and thick curry. The curry tasted good.

The Parathas were well cooked in enough oil, slightly thick and flaky. They tasted so good that they seemed good enough to be consumed on their own i.e. without any accompanying curry!

- Dal Makhani and Mixed Vegetables: Big bowls of these additional Dal and Sabji were sent as extras from the other combos. Both the items tasted nice.

If you are fussy about dining in only pure veg diners and if you hold a perpetual grudge for not getting enough unusual choices during the Pujas, then Gokul Shree is the place for you to be.

Even if you are a non fussy vegetarian or a non vegetarian, feel free to try out their well prepared dishes.

Happy Durga Puja 2018 to ALL ☺

Note: The food was plated and served at home.

My Winning Hamper @ Gokul Shree Sweets & Snacks, Kolkata ☺

From almost two decades, our household has been buying it's yearly quota of - sweets, imported fruits and dry fruits and now even candied fruits, from one or the other outlets of Gokul, for both consumption and gifting.

No wonder I was quite jubiliant and ecstatic upon receiving Gokul Shree's (AJC Bose Road) call, informing me to be the winner of their online held Ganesh Chaturthi Contest.

As per our mutual scheduling, yesterday I visited their aforesaid outlet and received some wonderful goodies amidst extremely warm welcome and hospitality.

My winning hamper comprised of -

a. A beautiful wooden gift box with intricately craved lid. It comprised of the following mithais - Chandrakala, Moti Paak, Anjir Barfi and Kaju Barfi.

Chandrakala was stuffed with sweetened pistachio mixture and not khoya. I always find this combination better.

Sugar free Anjir Barfi was highly welcomed and enjoyed by the diabetic members of the family.

Moti Paaks were super soft and Kaju Barfis were beautifully sliced in relatively thin pieces.

All the sweets were expectantly fresh and tasty.

b. An adorned and traditional red cloth pouch or thaili comprising of Badam Kulfi aka kesar-pista flavored white chocolate coated salted almonds and Kiwi Toffee aka kiwi puree infused aam papad.

Both the luxurious edibles tasted good and interesting. Personally, I like them best as Mukhwas post dinner.

Thanks You Gokul Shree for such a generous and sweet gesture.

We ordered Rajasthani Thaali, Gujrati Thaali and 1 Indian Thali. The quantity was decent as per prices. The variety was something we all appreciated. However, we felt that the rotis were less and hence had to order extra. There is enough quantity of curry pickles and sweets which comes along. All in all a decent experience.

Ordered breakfast from here this morning. We ordered 4 plates of club kachori. The kachoris tasted quite good and there was ample subzi to go with it. Wished they also served some meetha chutney to mellow down the spiciness of the subzi.

This place being near my work , I wist it regularly  mostly to have a snack or lunch .
Situated in exide crossing , this place is always filled with customers . They have a vast array of sweets
They also have snacks and titbits , all veg though.

FOOD > 5/5
No question about the quality of food . Everything is well prepared and most importantly the oil used is genuine and reliable , not some chunk od dalda.

AMBIENCE> 3/5
This place is air conditioned , neat and clean and very tidy . But its tiny and can sit around 10 people . Also the place gets crowded since there is no separate are for customers who are eating and customers who are just there to buy .

SERVICE> 4/5
The staff are very polite and nice . They are always working . You wont find them idle . Also the place is sqeaky clean , all thanks to the staff . But the people handling the money are very busy , they will hardly notice you and promptly ignor you . Thus billing takes a lot of time . I recommend to the manager and the cashier , try to give some amount of attention to others also , i may not be a rich marwari guy giving you an order of 300 sweets , but i am a customer all the same .

PRICE> 3/5

Its on the high side . Sure you will love the food , but price like that wont make daily visits to this place easier .

Also I found there is prominent derth in the refreshment , drinks section . Only milk shake and lassi is not much good , maybe include some fruit juices too.

Located beside the Lord Singha road, this is a traditional sweet shop. Love their motichoor ladoos and the rasgollas. Though the prices are bit high but the sweets are very yummy.

This wonderful sweet shop joint is located at Rabindra Sadan Crossing going towards Minto Park. Its not just a sweet shop but certainly more than that. Rather than their great sweets this place has lot of food and drinks to offer you.
Went there with couple of friends tried their Tea, coffee and Burgers and Sandwiches. Everything was so amazing with the taste.
One of the most better vegteterian places Kolkata.

This is a very well known and popular sweet shop with a variety of traditional Sweets like motichoor ladoos and kaju katlis but they're masters of innovation as well. They reinvent the old sweets and give it a modern twist and turn. Lovely. This shop is in demand for people who order in bulk on festive occasions or marriages to send to friends and relatives. I've had sweets from here innumerable times and loved them all. Their rasgollas and Raj bhogs too are very good. This time had ghewar from there. Both the types of ghewar were good but the malai one was just too good!!
But staff behaviour is not always good probably because they are swamped by work or rather they are more eager to attend to those customers placing bulk orders.

Want great sweets? Just visit this place! A varitey of sweets, and many new creations, that butterscotch laddoo, that was my favourite of them all! The rates are decent, I can't complain about the rates as I like the quality and service very much. Lovely to be here, keep up the good work.

Location-A.J.C Bose road.

This place is a renowned sweet shop of kolkata. They deal mainly in sweets and Namkeen in which they serve huge variety.Especially the sweets(mithai) variety they sell is hard to find with any seller.Their innovation with sweets is praiseworthy.

Service-The service at this place is very poor.Different staff at this place quote different prices of the same product and take a lot of time in packaging. But on the positive side, they prepare the sweets instantly if it goes out of stock anytime and is very punctual at delivery of sweets.

Food-Their sweets varies from season to season. We have tried almost all the sweets at this shop and found it excellent with the taste and concept but its too pricey. Some of the recommendation from this place is their-
1:Butterscotch ladoo
2:Sitaphal Sandesh
3:Butterscotch satu
4:Nareal Rabri

Me and my senior Tanwyee Ray were out that evening for a quick catch-up as we both had to tell lots of stories to each other. After spending sometime in a nearby cafe, we both had our "sweet-tooth" cravings and so decided to drop in this sweet shop.
Its a Marwari sweet shop and theres no seating arrangement. You can either pack your sweets and move, or may stand and relish the sweets there.
We had our sweets there itself.
What we ordered - one Moti Pak, which tasted really great. We relished it. One Kaju Barfi, tasted typical and well. One Mango Fusion, which was really a different sweet we had, it had a layer of dry sweet mango (jelly-like aam sotto) and then it had a nutty layer and a white chocolate layer which made it overall taste great and well balanced in sweetness. Another one was English Bites. We took a Choco Bites which was a light brown chocolaty sweet. The other two Lollypop Chocolate sticks, real chocolate, one was in a rose shape and the other one was sunflower shaped.
These really satisfied our sweet tooth well.
Price is little on the higher side.
Will visit soon.
