Good food, stylish presentation. Really enjoyed having Sunday breakfast here. Would recommend the paniharan and shot gun Murugan. Service is a bit slow but they prepare every dish fresh so it's worth the wait

If you want to eat South Indian, then this is THE PLACE! Went here for dinner today. The ambiance was decorated with wooden birds, lights and a beautiful painting of a Koodiyattam dancer! Light traditional music from the southern India.
The service was prompt. The waiters were polite.

Coming to my food orders. We ordered:
🌟 South Indian Chaas: it was nicely made. The way they served it was nice.
🌟 Bubble Dosa: the dosa was made in a waffle plate. And it was a nice mix of soft and crisp.
🌟 Idli Manchurian: this was basically fried idli in manchurian gravy. The crispness of idli along with the sweet manchurian gravy was amazing. Must try.
🌟 Paper Podi dosa: this was a plain paper dosa with gunpowder inside it. It was tasty.

They served two kind of chutneys along with this. One coconut chutney and the other tomato-garlic chutney. And a bowl for sambhar. This was by far the best sambhar I’ve had.

Basically nothing disappointed me. Also, this place is pocket friendly.

South Indian food has always been a favourite of mine. The joint, being located near my home, I made it a point to visit this place as soon as possible.

First of all, this place seems to impress me with each and every item, one by one (making me crave for more) ;

Coming to ambience and interiors, it was good. Statue of kathakali dancer is installed in entry whereas seating arrangements are too good. Seats are designed like hand rickshaws, portrait of kathakali dancer is installed in wall and walls are adorned with good art ;

We ordered :-

1. Shortgun Murgan :- Hot and soft podi thatee Idly with loads of hot air rising from box ; This one
is one of their special items. Hot, soft and delicious it was ;

2. Upma :- Despite being a usual item, this one won our hearts. Upma was absolutely fantastic. With small slices of carrots and capsicum, this one was too good ;

3. Coconut Sangria :- Naariyal pani based drink. Very refreshing and yummy. Had an element of molecular gastronomy. Presentation was awesome ;

4. Bubble Dosa :- Another special item of their. This one was fantabulous. Dosa made in waffle style. Must try by everyone. Dosa was crispy, hot and perfect. Presentation along with taste, was major game in this case ;

5. Veg Uttapam :- Couldn't click pictures of the same, but it was good and filled with vegetables. It was ok, but a bit light;

6. Jalebi Caviar :- One of the best and mostly recommended in dessert section, the chef performed and prepared entire stuff in front of our own eyes. Classic and spectacular example of molecular gastronomy. The chef served the item individually and presented us by serving in different spoons. Completely new and exciting experience ; Taste can't be described in words;

7. Rose Petal Ice Cream :- Another case of molecular gastronomy. Ice cream along with rose petals were kept in front of us and then after diping petals in nitrogen, it was crushed in ice cream and was properly mixed. Ice cream was pure heavenly and tasted heavenly ;

*Instead of serving chutney individually, they kept two types of chutney i) Coconut and ii) Tomato in bowl so that people can take the same as per their convenience and wastage can be avoided.

Service was quick and nice. Staff were courteous.

Overall a great experience. Will definitely visit again!!!

South Indian food is a genre as popular as Mughlai food in kolkata and that is the exact reason why there is no shortage of restaurants serving good south Indian food in the city. Naariyal panni is a new addition to this genre with Good authentic South Indian food but with a twist!
Owned by a former Masterchef India contestant Rashi Kedia, Naariyal pani is all about same old South India food with Drama!
Tikka on the rocks for example is a dish with Mini idlis skewered to look like tikkas and blow torched on grill.
The jalebi caviars are something totally different, jalebi molecularized into caviars with the help of liquid nitrogen giving out a cold breath with every bite!

South Indian food is something for me is such a delight and a safe food option. Those who thinks South Indian food has no taste and flavor and moreover variety then they are very wrong about this. When it comes to some real Indian food then Southern Indian food always is in the charts of the tops which brings smiles to your stomach.
There are pretty decent places around the city of joy which has good South Indian food but there are still places that lacks the authenticity of it. But when i visited Naariyal Pani my thoughts about south Indian taken me to another level.

Naariyal Pani located at Alipore is your new South Indian Food hub as they are providing you with some lip smacking authentic south Indian food in your table. The ambiance looks pretty cool with those hand rickshaws from the south cities and parrots sitting on the trees. Big posters of the famous BharatNatyam dancer you can see and the servers is also dressed up in the Anna Attire.

They are also bringing the South Indian Deliciousness with Molecular Gastronomy which is a new concept that has started picking up and its been loved by many of the people.

I Tried some really good South Indian food after so long time and they were:

DRINKS:
Sweet and Spicy Fire and Ice :
A sweet drink that twists your tongue with that chilly flavor and little bit of sweetness.

FOOD:
Paniyaram : Traditional Paniyaram in Pop Style. Rice dough balls mix with veggies roasted in pop style.

Kulfi Idli : Idli popsicle dipped in hot coconut curry, (Recommended).

Bubble Dosa : Dosa twist in waffle style. Lots of cheese and vegetables in dosa batter and then prepare the Dosa in a waffle machine. (Recommended).

 Pizza uttapam : Uttapam base with pizza toppings and cheese.

Rose petal ice cream : Fresh rose, milk turning into an ice cream instantly in a gastronomical way.

South Indian Food was never this fun eating and i thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Visit the outlet and find out about the best they are providing.

We all have south indian food in our everyday life. Dosas, idli, vada, upma etc are well known south-indian dishes that we are well aware of. The people of Kolkata have immense love for South-indian cuisine.
But, if you want a bit of nautanki and dramatic twist with south-indian delicacies then visit to Naariyal Paani. Located at the Alipore Enclave Mall, this is something that is worth a try. In Kolkata now we have the twist of molecular gastronomy in South-indian food too!

I visited this place yesterday and I had a couple of dishes that I would highly recommend :

South Indian Chaas : A normal traditional chaas with a south Indian twist.

Fire and Ice: A sweet and spicy drink that twists your tongue.

Paniyaram : Traditional paniyaram in pop style. Rice dough balls mix with veggies roasted in pop style.

Kulfi Idli : Idli popsicle dipped in hot coconut curry.

Tikka on the Rocks : Live grilled south Indian tikka with veggies.

Coconut Idli : Fresh coconut inside the Idli made in coconut shell.

Bubble Dosa: A waffle style Dosa with lots of cheese and vegetables in dosa batter and then prepare the Dosa in a waffle machine.

Pizza uttapam: Uttapam base with pizza toppings and cheese.

Jalebi Caviar : Jalebi served into caviar form chilled and served with kesar syrup with a twist giving you a dragon way.
Rose petal ice cream: Fresh rose, milk turning into an ice cream instantly in a gastromical way.

Lovely food! The fusion page of the menu is a delight! and so are the desserts. :D
We tried the south indian fondue, tikka on the rocks, coconut idli, dosas, lemon rice, filter coffee, fire & ice mocktail & the rose ice cream - all of it lip-smacking!
I give a star less for the rickety tables, but the food was delicious. I'd love to go again.

South Indian food has been my personal favourite since childhood ,so when my grandmother told me about this place which serves fusion south indian food ,I was extremely excited to try it out
Well ,this place is located in the alipore enclave mall , firstly when we entered the place was extremely impressed by the footfall
It has a decent but comparatively a small sitting area , there was only one table empty and luckily we didnt had to wait for our turn
So coming to the dishes we ordered we ordered bubble dosa and shotgun morgan
The bubble dosa had a twist of waffle style ,it tasted like a normal dosa ,but the presentation was extremely unique and the taste was also outstanding,though the taste wasn’t anywhere different and tasted like a normal dosa
The shotgun morgan was podi thatte idly served in naariyal pani style !! Thatte ildi is nothing but huge sized idly especially famous in south india
The idli was extremely soft and gulible at the same time ,we liked the idli so much that we ordered it the second time
Coming to the service ,the service was quick and decent enough ,it took a decent normal time to serve the dishes
The owner was very hospitable,and adressed all our needs very politely
Altogether a must try place for all south indian and fusion food lovers here

This place has been on my to go list for a pretty good time and what better time to try a vegeterian food joint than Ashtami afternoon and what an amazing experience it was. The place is perfectly beautiful the ambience is great. They have typical South Indian music playing in the background and the staff was dressed in white south indian attire.
The service provided was great the staff was extremely polite and were very efficient.
Coming to the food we had ordered
1. Bubble Dosa
This dish was a fusion food. Dosa made in waffle style presented as a pizza
2. Shotgun Murgan
Steamed idli glazed with podi.
3. Coconut Idli
Idli baked inside coconut shell. It was like choco lava cake...coconut chutney oozed out of the idli.
4. Cheese Dosa
5. Jalebi Caviar
This was extraordinary. The caviar served with kesar syrup which burst into steam once inside your mouth.
6. Rose petal ice cream
Ice cream made from scratch served rose petals.

Food 5/5

In search of good South Indian food in South Kolkata, I stumbled upon this place on Google. It's located in New alipore on the 3rd floor of the enclave mall.

The decor of the place is innovative but due to space constraints looked congested.

The staff here are friendly and are more or less inexperienced when it came to serving the dishes. However their attitude was worth appreciating.

Finally the food and this is where my tryst with traditional South Indian and modified South Indian food started. I come from the city of Bangalore and have a good idea and perception of South Indian food and the way it's meant to taste. This place tries a few very good experiments with their shotgun murugun and their coconut baked idli, I felt these were one of the best tasting idlis. Where it fell short though was with their rice items namely the lemon rice and the vangi bhat respectively. It didn't turn out as expected and we're a bit too oily. But then again, the staff were nice to supply us with a spare plate of lemon rice since the vangi bhat didn't really strike a chord with us.

I am going to rate this place 4/5 from the point of view of the crowd it's try to cater to. It would probably be a bit off for people willing to experience traditional South Indian food but it certainly is a step that has not been attempted at least in my experience.

The decor gets a 3/5 due to space congestion but the staff score a high 4/5 despite their inexperience in handling items.

Sometimes, you walk in to an eatery and you are pleasantly surprised almost every now and then with the kind of #innovation you encounter - this was one such experience for sure where pure veg South Indian dishes are blended with the help of molecular gastronomy to take them to a different level altogether - heights of innovation to say the least both in terms of presentation and taste..

A recently opened eatery above Kookie Jar (Alipore) is bound to delight you at every step - right from the old carriage like seats to the quirky cutlery alongwith an awesome wall art.. The decor is simple yet has an aesthetic appeal written all over it.. Service is prompt..

Let's now focus on the food - shall we!!

#ShotgunMurgan
Podi idli fused with molecular gastronomy..

#TikkaOnTheRocks
Live grilled South Indian tikka with veggies - loved the live preparation process on the table..

#CoconutIdly
Fresh coconut idly made in a coconut shell - what a presentation with an equally fab taste..

#Paniyaram
It is prepared with rice and dough balls with veggies and roasted in pop style..

#BubbleDosa
Cheese and vegetables infused in dosa batter and made in waffle machine.. It is dosa presented as a waffle - innovative but doesn't compromise on taste one bit..

#PizzaUttapam
Uttapam base with pizza toppings..

#Cheesedosa
Dosa batter with cheese & more cheese - a completely cheesy affair..

#PaneerDosa
Paper dosa with paneer khurchan filling & the condiments served are equally tasty..

#RosePetalIcecream
A fresh rose and milk turned into ice cream instantly with the help of molecular gastronomy right infront of you - sheer magic in terms of presentation and taste.. My personal favourite 😍😍..

#JalebiCaviar
Jalebi served in the form of caviar with kesar syrup..

It was truly a magical experience at this one of it's kind eatery in #Kolkata & only the second eatery (the other being ITC Chola at Chennai) in India where South Indian delicacies are taken to a different level with extensive use of molecular gastronomy..

One needs to experience this place on his/her own - it's innovation at it's very best.. Pure Veg South Indian food can be this exciting - well, I had no clue untill I dropped in there..

How about another unbelievable fact - the average pricing per dish out there ranges between INR 100 to 200 bucks only.. Yes, you read that right..

So, what are you waiting for - get there today and experience the magic yourself.. This restaurant is already facing waiting ques within barely a month of opening it's doors for obvious reasons..

Thank you genuinely dear Rashi for your gracious hospitality - kudos to you for gifting Kolkata such a magical eatery - your personal touch takes this place to a different high altogether for sure.. Can't wait to come back again asap..

Amazing South Indian food delight. Little twist in Southie dishes attracts the taste buds. Even with twist the taste remains superb, pure and delicious. Awesome ambience. Superb hospitality. The owner personally visits each table and communicate amicably which is their USP. Waffle Dosa or Bubble Dosa must try for all crispy Dosa lovers. Chutneys are finger lickable. Must visit especially with family.

Personally went with my not so polite one year old daughter and she was in full mood to destroy their culinary, but the owner was so nice and gentle with her inspite of her naughtiness, this won my heart. Truly special place for South Indian food.

Must visit.

South Indian has been highly popular for decades.From roadside idly stalls to live dosa counters at luxury hotels,South Indian delicacies are much loved .But the cuisine has always been simple and not ver quirky.
That’s where naariyal pani triumphs. This is not a gimmicky pop-up restaurant but where authentic flavours have the last laugh. Naariyal Paani uses innovation that often borders on quirkiness and presents South Indian cuisine in a whole new context. It’s a reminder that great cuisines have always evolved even though purists would like us to believe that they are meant to be frozen in time. It’s just what South Indian cuisine needs to go global and it’s fitting that this global journey begins in Kolkata.
Leady by Chef Rashi Naariyal Paani serves some really quirky dishes like waffle dosa, sambar caviar and a lot more and you must visit this place to try the innovative dishes the place offers.Even a humble idly is a work of art here.

Our Picks: Waffle dosa ,coconut idly,sambar caviar,shotgun murugan.

The best of Molecular Gastronomy Southie in Kolkata.
I've been a constant at this place and since I'm a morning person and they open up early in the morning. As you enter you will see that they have all south Indian vibes in the restaurant, and the interiors. They also welcome you by providing you with complimentary drink i.e south indian chaas .The food is top class, the ambiance is beyond best and out of the world. You will feel peace from inside when here. The music playing makes the experience great and placid. Couldn’t believe the quality being served for the given prices. Their bubble dosa, pizza uttapam and coconut idli was amazing and so was the hospitality. The staff was very kind and kept on entertaining us throughout the meal. It was soothing both to the eyes. It is a great place to visit with your family and also great for people who love peace.
Do try their Rose petal ice cream and Jalebi Caviar.

Certainly going back for more!!

Highly Recommend.

The concept of Molecular Gastronomy is no longer a theory in the City of Joy! With the rise in modern day techniques & equipments, upcoming restaurants are indulging in the use of such quirky techniques in making some sumptuous, delectable & lipsmacking dishes! With South Indian Cuisine in Kolkata which never really was experimented a lot when it came to the innovation keeping intact the concept & the authenticity intact, the owner Rashi Kedia accomplished the impossible & brought Naariyal Paani which is basically based on South Indian Cuisine with a tint of Kolkata & also with a twist which they call it Nautanki.

Entering the vibrant, bright-filled interior with a wall full of shining round small brass bell that swings at the Alipore Enclave Mall, one will surely get an energetic vibe! The 40-seater upscale casual dining restaurant, is spread across 1100 sqft. Kathakali wall-arts and elements from the dance-form dominates the interior, the play of bottle green, popped up golden tint yellow and the amalgamated teal-turquoise blue adds up to it, making the place appear vibrant and jovial. The rickshaw themed seating adds up to the city's connect. Using an array of modern gastronomic techniques, the food is transformed into the most delicious bits of foam, caviars, pearls or kheer, a Bomb Idly that bursts when you dig that in with your spoon with a startling freshness, and wonderfully the Sambhar inside oozes out. At the same time, let it be said, it’s not about the technology. It’s about re-discovering the original taste of some of our most favourite South Indian dishes and presenting them in a new and fresh way.

With the staff dressed in South Indian attire, interesting yet quirky cutlery, this place is surely one of the fantabulous places which I loved lately! We had ordered for some of their signatures as the chef herself suggested!

• Shotgun murgan : This was Podi Thatee idli served in naariyal paani style.

• Tikka on the rocks : It was Live grilled South Indian tikka with veggies!

• Coconut idli : This was fresh coconut inside idli made in coconut shell.

• Paniyaram : It was prepared with rice and dough balls with veggies and roasted in pop style.

• Bubble Dosa : It was cheese and vegetables infused in dosa batter and made in waffle machine! it is a dosa served in a waffle style.

• Pizza uttapam : It had an uttapam base with pizza toppings!

• Cheese Dosa : This was the normal dosa that we usually have. The batter was made with cheese!

• Paneer Dosa : It was a paper dosa with paneer khurchan filling.

• Rose petal ice cream : Fresh rose and milk turned into ice cream instant in a gastronomical way was thr showstopper for the day. I would describe it in one word : 'Heavenly'! This was so amazing in terms of flavour, texture, taste and presentation, that one can straightaway have 2-3 bowls of this jewel at once! We had this with great delish!

• Jalebi Caviar : Jalebi was served into caviar form with kesar syrup. Once you have it, you'll have a 'dragon breath' oozing out of your mouth! It tasted brilliant too!

The food quality, the taste, the quantity, the authenticity, the texture, the filling, the creaminess of all the items accompanied with hot sambar & chutney, Naariyal Paani has nailed it totally. Pricing kept extremely on the lower side with very prompt and quick service will impress you at one go! But but not the least, the extended warm hospitality by the owner herself is one added advantage that surely made me fall in love with this place! Coming back soon!

Recommended highly!

Food is good. Presentation is good. Good ambience. Service is a little slow(considering we went for lunch on a weekday where no other table was occupied). Though staff is quite courteous and does not seem judgy like in many other restaurants when you enquire about details of a particular dish or even negotiate price of water. Regular water is not edible at all. Mrp ₹10 mineral water charged ₹30.. Which they did reduce after I raised the issue but should not have been so in the first place.
