I was here for lunch a few days back. This is located near Chandni Chowk and just opposite Aliah Restaurant. The ambience is brilliant, and is done in Calcutta style, resembling pictures from Old Calcutta.

I had :

• Peri Peri Prawns
• Cheese Chilli Chicken Tikka
• Bengali Fish Curry
• Dahi Machhi
• Prawn Malai Curry

The food tasted amazing, specially the seafood dishes. The starters were delicious. The mains were great and went well with veg pulao and garlic naan.

For desserts, I went with Shahi Tukra and Gulab Jamun. They were good too.

Overall, it was a good experience.

A perfect place to dine in with family and friends. Located near the Chandni Chowk Metro Station, this place is a hidden gem. I recently visited this place with my family. The ambience here is very classy and the quality of the food is top notch.
We stared with Cheese Chilli Chicken Tikka and Akhroti Murgh Seekh. Both of these starters tasted awesome. In the main course we ordered Peas Pulao, Mutton Nalli Raganjosh, Tariwala Murgh and Shaam Saveera. SHAAM SAVEERA is their specialty dish. It is basically a kofta curry where the outer coating is of Spinach and in the inside there was cottage cheese. The taste of all the dishes were top notch and each and every item is recommended. We ended our meal with Sahi Tukda and Gulab ka Gulkand. I am a person who always choose GulabJamun over anything but the Sahi Tukda here changed my mind. This is the best Sahi Tukda I ever had and is highly recommend.

I have been to the siliguri branch of this restaurant and the experience was amazing. Beautiful ambience with minimalistic decoration excellent staff behaviour. They provided complementary papad amd chutneys before the meal and paan at last which my mom found to be very sweet. The quality of the food i must say was excellent. Good proportions and food cooked to perfection. We have chicken tandoori, veg pulao, mixed fried rice and butter chicken. Although the price is on the higher side it is worth the money.

Tariwala murg was a much recommended dish in this place.. A thick gravy with chicken chunks in it and the taste was awsm
Nalli rogan josh is a must try dish in this outlet...
Butter naan was soft...
Service was quite good... Had little issue regarding the payment but it was resolved soon...

Yellow Chilli restaurant is a chain of fine dine restaurant owned by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. Located at a distance of 5 mins walk from Chandni Chowk metro station, this place can provide you a superior dine in experience. The walls of the restaurant portraits Kolkata in every from. Starting from the busy roads of esplanade to the calming beauty of Howrah bridge, you can see all of Kolkata in their walls. The comfortable seating and huge dining area adds in to the exquisite ambiance.

Things I had here includes :-

MOCKTAILS :-
• Peru pyala
• Fatal attraction
• Mango Ginger Fizz
• Twisted
• Tarbooza

Each and every mocktails were great. Although I found the mango ginger fizz to be a bit bland, the other mocktails compensated for it. The best thing about all the mocktails are their unique presentation. I specifically like the twisted mocktail. It had a refreshing melange of orange, lemon, apple and cranberry. Further, it was topped with green apples.

STARTERS :-
• Prawn peri peri
• Chilli cheese Chicken tikka

There was nothing wrong between the two starters. In fact, I relished both of them equally. The pieces of prawns were huge in prawn peri peri. The peri peri flavour was very prominent in the dish. The chilli cheese tikka had layers of molten cheese over it. Both the starters are highly recommended.

MAINS :-
• Prawn malai curry
• Dahi machhi
• Bengali fish curry
• Peas pulao
• Garlic naan

Our array of main course looked colourful and delicious as soon as it was served in the table. I started with the Bengali fish curry and peas pulao. True to it's name, the Bengali fish curry had the aroma and flavours of my mom's cooked macher jhol. The pea pulao was served hot and tasted fine with the curry. The dahi machhi was a bit light with the spices. It had a balanced taste of dahi cooked with mild spices and the pieces of fish was huge enough. The prawn malai curry is one of the best dish I had here. It had the prominent flavour of coconut milk which you expect from a good malai curry. The garlic naan went well with the dahi machhi.

DESSERTS :-
• Sahi tukda
• Gulabe gulkand

I will go back here again for the sahi tukda. It had rabri stuffed in between layers of bread. The gulabe gulkand had a higher sweetness. It will be loved by the people those whose prefer there dessert very sweet.

All in all, yellow chilli provided me a great experience with it's lively and classic ambiance and uniquely curated food. Looking forward to visit again soon.

This is the chain of restaurant by the renowned and celebrated Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, situated close to Chandni Chowk Metro Station.
A very spacious dining area representing the cultural heritage of Kolkata with wall-paintings,serving North Indian,Chinese and dishes from Bengali Cuisine as well.

Dropped in here for lunch.
As starters ordered
Peri Peri Chicken & Cheese Chilli Chicken Tikka.I would definitely recommend the first one over the second. The prawns were juicy and cooked well with Peri Peri Masala while the tikkas required to be more tender.

For Main course we went for Fish and Prawn, the dishes were:

Prawn Malai Curry, this was my favorite from the lot.The curry had a mild flavor of coconut milk,it was very creamy. The prawns were tender and juicy.
Dahi Machi tasted good with Peas Pulao.
Bengali Fish Curry was just like home-made fish curry.
Garlic Naan was soft and tasted delicious with the curry.

For Desserts tried out Shahi Tukda and Gulabe Gulkand both were quite good.Shahi Tukda for a change was crispy topped with malai and nuts.

From the Mocktails I tried Peru Pyala(guava juice with lime juice served in red-chilli rimmed glass,
Twisted was an amalgamation of different flavors like orange, lemon, apple and cranberry and Tarbooza as the name suggests had fresh watermelon juice.

Overall I had a good experience, the service was good, ambience was quite nice.

The Yellow Chilli is a great place if you love Indian cuisine. The interiors are spacious and plush with some really interesting decor depicting various quintessential Kolkata sights. The appetisers were brilliant starting with the chilli cheese chicken kebab and the prawn peri peri. The main course was lovely too. There was the simple Bengali fish curry with plain white rice which is a staple in many Bengali homes along with a delicious Prawn Malai curry with Peas pulao. There are so many more dishes in the menu which I am sure I will try the next time I am here. The mocktails were refreshing and they also serve alcohol. We ended our meal with a Shahi Tukda and Gulaab Gulkand which were impressive. This place is conveniently located near the Chandni Chowk Metro station. Interestingly this brand is owned by the celebrated chef and entrepreneur Sanjeev Kapoor. Loved my meal here and would love to go back.

among the main course we tried mutton chettinad and tomato chese nun.. the nun was the best i hav tested.. very smooth yet filled up with tasty fillings..
we took shahi tukda for desert.. it was immensely tasty but the amount was very little as per cost.. this is also the reason i am giving a 4star review..

Situated in a little street opposite the Paradise Cinema hall, and add the fact that it has recently opened, this restaurant has not yet garnered much attention and become a crowd puller, which it has every factor of being. I went with my friend, another one of the greatest foodies, Utsav, who suggested the place because it was Chef Sanjeeb Kapoor's chain, and had a wonderful experience. This place has everything needed in a top class fine dine restaurant― decor, ambience, very courteous staff and of course, the food.

We were impressed by the decor even before we entered, viewing it from the footpath through the glass panelled walls on the roadside. From the inside, these glass panels give you a wonderful view of the road outside, but without the sound of the humdum going on there. The walls are cream coloured, brick textured, and adorned with beautiful graphitti in black depicting Kolkata, with lush velvetted seats adjoining them.
The ambience was pleasant, with not too dimly lit tables and soft music playing in the background, not enough to make you notice the genre or each song, but enough to put a pleasant base to your auditory perception.
The staff are very courteous and very efficient, suggesting and guiding us at evey step of our journey through the food, and being there by themselves when the slightest of our needs arose without even calling them.

After ordering, we were at first served with the complimentary accompaniments of Masala Papad, and a platter consisting of green chillies, pickle, green raita and sweet papaya chutney. Special mention to the papaya chutney, which is basically the commonly called 'Plastic chutney', with the papaya pieces cut in bigger, broader polygonal pieces. Normally sweet, and appetizing.

For drinks Utsav ordered a Peru pyala, and I, a Mango ginger fizz.
Peru pyala, the signature drink, is guava juice with chilli, and chilli and salt lining on the glass rim. Now I am not a fan of guava, but from the sip that I took it tasted kind of like the Paper Boat drink, albeit more natural and fresh, and contained bits of guava. The lining of chilli powder and salt on the rim gives you the feel when you are eating a piece of guava, and your lips touch the smeared chilli before biting.
The Mango ginger fizz was dominated by the flavour of ginger, owing to the sliced ginger pieces in the drink. There was not much hint of mango, which I would have liked. Though the colour was green, signifying a base containing raw mango, this drink was basically gingered Sprite with a very slight hint of aam panna.

For starters, we ordered Peeli mirch ki machchi, the signature kebab. The fish, Bhetki, was fresh and soft to the point of melting in your mouth, and it did not have any raw fishy smell. And the marination! I could taste the mustard, and didn't know what else it contained, but it was like a carnival in the mouth. Add to it the lemon and the green raita, and it is the perfect kebab experience I have had.

Next, we had ordered the signature dish of Shaam Savera with Butter garlic naan. Shaam savera is a dish of koftas, perfectly spherical ones, with a core of chhana (pre-form of paneer, you can call it minced paneer) covered on the outside with a layer of evenly ground and mashed spinach (palong/palak), cut into hemispheres in a delicious gravy. The sweet and sour gravy complimented the koftas, and with the crispy garlic butter naan, it was heavenly. I would highly recommend Shaam Savera, and people, please keep your "It's veg" sneers aside, and try it.

After this, we ordered the Dum gosht biryani. It is not like the typical Kolkata biriyani. Although it has no aloo, and a very light flavour, it does taste good. But the mutton was slightly overcooked and chewy. I would want to give this biriyani another try to taste the perfect version though.

Time for desserts. On suggestion by the staff, we ordered the Indian sweet platter, consisting of Gulab-e-gulkand, Shahi tukda, and Kulfi. I too would suggest the platter, as it costs less than the individuals combined.
The Gulab-e-gulkand is a gulab jamun with gulkand (sweet picked rose) inside it. It tastes as awesome as it sounds. At the perfect temperature, when placed on your tongue for sometime, it releases the flavour in your mouth and induces a foodgasm.
This Shahi tukda is hands down the best Shahi tukda I have had. It is crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside (like a good malpoa) and the flavour of ghee fills your mouth, along with the sweet malai and the almond pieces.
The paan flavoured kulfi is different from the kulfis I have had till now. It is made of kheer, which makes it's texture and consistency like a cold Kalakand sandesh, and the mild flavour is from the minced and mashed betel leaves inside it. It is a new experience to eat such a kulfi, and a good one.

It does not need saying that I would highly recommend this place. Too bad zomato does not allow you to rate in decimals, I would have loved to give it a 4.5*, but had to settle for a 4*.

Situated near chandni chawk metro station. The restaurant was mostly empty. Staffs were very polite. We were helped with the menu as to which items were their specialty. The taste of all the items were fab.
Starters-
1. Cheese chilly chicken tikka- cheese is something that was missing though.
2. Pudina seekh- this was really good with a flavour of pudina. For all those who dislike eating spicy food.
3. Akhroti murg seekh- looked so much like the pudina seekh. Tasted quite similar.

Main course-
1. Mattar polao- mixed with veges and peas.
2. Butter chicken- tastes little sweet. Had 6 small pieces, boneless.
3. Murgh khatta pyaaz- boneless minced chicken. Best with naan or roti.
4. Garlic naan- as it should be. Nothing special.

Mocktail- virgin mojito and lime soda was both little sweet. Tried their TWISTED mocktail, which was a mix of watermelon, apple and cranberry. It was sweet and tasted somewhat like real mixed fruit juice, in a presentable form.
What impressed me the most was one of their mocktail with guava mixed with chilly sauce. Cant really remember the name.

Overall, loved the experience. Had a great time ..

The Yellow Chilli - Conceptualized by Sanjeev Kapoor.!

Conceptualized and headed by one of the most iconic Indian Chefs, The Yellow Chilli is all set to roar it's wings and satiate the tastebuds of hungry patrons with it's mouthwatering dishes and flavorful spoilers. The latest branch, located just next to Bentick Street and Emall is one of the recent additions to The Yellow Chilli family. A huge restaurant, and can easily accommodate around 40-50 heads. The decor is somewhat retro, mostly featuring depictions, typical to Kolkata and this city.

We started off with the likes of Channa Jor Garam, Prawn Peri Peri, Dahi Goli Vada Shot, Tawa Cha(n)p, Cheese Chilli Chicken Tikka and Palak Cheese Karara Roll. The Palak Cheese Karara Roll had a flavorful filling of spinach and cheese, shaped as a spring roll and fried till brown and crisp. Cheese Chilli Chicken Tikka had soft chunks of chicken with generous amount of cheese coating with a hint of chilli. Channa Jor Garam and Dahi Goli Vada shot were a fine teaser for the vegetarians.

I particularly liked the Channa Jor Garam, which had mashed chickpeas, mixed with spices and shaped as a round kebab to be fried till golden brown. If you are a seafood lover, get your hands on the Prawn Peri Peri, which had prawn portions marinated with peri peri spices and then put inside tandoor to perfection.

Moving on to the mains, it was hard to choose a winner. The Lalls Mussa Dal, was a long lost brother of Dal Makhani, may be when he wasn't too buttery. A well balanced lentil preparation, a must try if you have excessive butter in Dal Makhani, but wish to devour something of similar sort. Try the winter special Sarso ka Saag, which is an iconic spinach preparation and pair it up with the Makke di Roti. Love Mutton? Pair the Nalli Rogan Josh, the very popular Mutton Rogan Josh, with a 'Nalli' portion. Rich, full of flavors and falling off the bones, get your hands on these with the Dum Ghosht Biryani or even with Tandoori Roti.

For the vegetarian guys, don't be disheartened! For Shaam Savera outdid all the non-vegetarian dishes we tried. A well layered ball made out of spinach and cheese and cooked to a tomato based creamy gravy, we couldn't get enough of this.

Our pairing agents happened to be some fine cocktails and refreshing mocktails. We tried Twisted, which was a refreshing concoction of apple juice, lemon, apple and orange and Peru Pyala, which was a freshly prepared Guava Juice, adorned by a touch of coarse sea-salt and red chilli.

Among the cocktails, there was the Cardamom Whisky Sour, which is usually a fine mixture of egg whites and some nicely blended whisky. The striking point of this drink was however the subtle addition of cardamom. Sex on the beach had a lingering taste of vodka, mixed with cranberry juice along with a slice of lemon skin to impart the zesty feeling.

We ended our gala meal with some mouthwatering desserts, the Shahi Tukda and Gulabo Gulkand. While the Gulabo had some ever popular Gulab Jamuns, soft and tempting along with the additions of finely sliced gulkand, the Shahi Tukda was a clear winner to me. Old bread portions, deep fried and then poured on to by condensed milk and rabri, this one was soft, mouthwatering and I just couldn't resist at just one of them.

Want to try some mouthwatering North Indian food when you are in Chadni chowk area? No problem, The Yellow Chilli is here for you. From the world renowned chef Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor's person recipe the dishes will amaze you with its unique taste and fine choice of ingredients. This chain of restaurants has multiple outlets in all over the country and in abroad as well.
This gem of a place is located near in Chadni Chowk area, just in the opposite lane of Paradise Cinema. We were invited for their signature menu launch occasion.
The place is quite spacious and nicely decorated with the photos of historical places of Kolkata. Seating arrangements were comfortable with a nice vibe in its ambiance. They have a separate Bar counter available for you to relax.
There were quite a lot of food for us to taste.
For starters there were

1. Dahi Goli Vada Shot : Small Vada topped with dahi, chutney and garnished with coriander leaves served in a shot glass. A very unique dish I must say.

2. Cheese chilli chicken tikka : Boneless Cubes of chicken marinated in a tikka masala and then topped with grated cheese and grilled inside a tandoor. Chicken was soft and very and the grilled cheese added some extra flavour in the dish. A must try for sure.

3. Chana Jor Garam : Boiled potato mixed with dried spices and coriander leaves made like a tikki and then coated with crushed Black Gram chips and deep fried. The texture was nice with crunchy outside and gooey inside.

4. Prawn Peri Peri : Medium sized prawns grilled with Peri Peri masla and served with a mint chutney. Prawns were fresh, nicely cleaned and well cooked.

Now for the mains there were ......

1. Nalli Rogan Josh with Malabari Paratha : Lamb shanks are slowly cooked with all its spices and juices for hours to become more tender and juicy. The meat was incredibly tender and damm tasty. Goes well with the soft Malabari Paratha.

2. Sarso ka Saag with Makke di Roti : This is a winter special dish and can be found in winters only. Mustard leaves slowly cooked with mustard seeds and mustard oil and garlic with some heavy doze of butter. Saag was nicely cooked a d perfectly seasoned. One definitely try the dish with Makka Roti which is a flat bread prepared from maize flour.

3. Lalla Mussa Dal : Black lentils cooked with garlic and Butter for atleast 12 hour's. The results are some creamy, soft, mouthwatering thing waking up all your taste buds. This amazingly prepared daal can go beautifully with Butter Naan, Garlic naan etc.

4. Shaan Savera with Butter Garlic naan : Cottage cheese balls coated with ground spinach and then added in a rich, creamy gravy. The cheese balls were amazing and the gravy was perfect to try with some well prepared Butter garlic naan.

After this huge meal there were two desserts waiting for us.

1. Sahi Tukda : Bread fried with some desi ghee, coated with sugar syrup and topped with some heavy condensed milk. The taste was amazing and the sweetness level was perfect.

2. Gulabo Gulkand : Hot gulab jamun stuffed with Gulkand and then topped with some rose petals. It was a little bit too sweet for me.

The best restaurant in heart of Kolkata with the original indian taste. The ambiance is really soothing. No complains from Sanjeev Kapoor’s restaurant. The taste comes is itself from under the guidance of master chef of India. I tried DUM GHOST BIRYANI and soft drink.

The biryani was like mouth watering, the best biryani i ever had in my life. All the spices were well balanced with a gentle soothing aroma smell. The drink was also good. The service was also fast and quick.

Overall the best restaurant in Kolkata till date.

That day I left Office a bit earlier. I was thinking how to utilise the time. Then I got a notification from my fellow foodie mates that they were in The Yellow Chilli which has been recently opened in the adjacent of Bentinck Street and Waterloo Street.

I just took a cab and went there.

This is a food chain by the renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

After entering the restaurant, I found that my fellow mates were busy in clicking photos. So, I started doing the same also.

The first thing that I saw was some shot glasses. Then came to know that it was DAHI GOLI VADA SHOTS. Actually, these were small dahi vadas served in the shot glass, so that you can have the whole in just one shot. It was amazing.

After that I saw a plate full of small tikkas. I asked the chef what it was. He said, it's called CHANNA JOR GARAM. In its first bite I understood it was not just soft inside, but it was having very tasty flavour also.

Okay, by this time if you're thinking that it's a Veg Restaurant, you are so wrong my dear.

Seeing this photo (above) you must be thinking what it is. Okay, it's called PRAWN PERI PERI. Dry roasted prawns tossed in peri peri sauce were served to us.

TAWA CHAAP. The picture is itself very tempting. This is Lamb Chops basically. This platter was drooling like anything.

Then we had SARSON DA SAAG with MAKKE DI ROTI. This is one of  famous North Indian food. But, the thing is I just totally forgot to take the picture of Makke Si Roti.

After this, we had one of the signature dishes of this place. This is called LALLA MUSSA DAAL. The speciality of this daal is that the kaali daal is cooked for 42hours with pure Ghee, Butter and Dresh Cream. And for taste added sugar and salt. It's an awesome dish. At least to taste this particular dish one should visit this place.

As I had the above dish before I shifted to another dish which was SHAAM SAVERA. This is another signature dish of this place. basically it's kofta where you'll find paneer covered with the coating of Spinach. And then curried in pure shahi style. And when I asked the chef why the name is like this he replied that the coating of spinach is dark that symbolises SHAAM . And as morning shows brightness and paneer is also white in colour it symbolises SAAVERA. This dish was served with BUTTER GARLIC NAAN.

Then we had NALLI ROGAN JOSH with MALABARI PARATHA. This was tasting so good, that I can eat it even I feel full.

After finishing this, we had DUM GOSHT BIRYANI.

And from the dessert section we had :

GULABO GULKAND : it was too good

SHAHI TUKDA : one of the best Shaahi Tukdas that I've had till date.

By the way, except these superbly delicious food, we had some cocktails and mocktails too.

So, if you are in the Esplanade area, please don't forget to this new gem.

The Yellow Chilli,Kolkata ,the newest definition of redefining Indian food. They have winged across all over in India from 2001,they have introduced one outlet at just near Paradise Cinema,Dharamtala.
The outlet was specious and beautifully decorated, the dim lights, bright sketch of the heritage of the city of joy kolkata was enough eye catchy to mesmerise about the city.Probably the best north indian cuisine I had tasted after a long search.Their sumptuous delicacies are as attractive as lookwise. We have choose our menu from their wide range of options.
Started with Chats, followed by veg-non veg starters, main course and ended up with a sweet note.
What we had:-

Dahi Goli Vada Shot:-Khatta meetha dahi vada shots.

Sarso ka saag with Makke di roti:-Makke di roti sarso da saag is something must try in Punjab. If you want a little bit of Punjab in kolkata, them yellow chili is the one for you.Smooth sarso ka saag with flavour of garlic and chilli, with a dullop of butter on it with perfectly made makke di roti.

Lalls mussa dal:-Lentils cooked with proper tadka flavour with lots of ghee on it.

Shaam Savera with Butter Garlic naan:-I have given order of shaam savera as it sounds interesting in their menu card.Let you all know it looks and tastes delicious as well.Paneer stuffed palak koftas engrossed in a smooth gravy of tomato.Giving you an interesting story Chef Sanjeev kapoor cooked this dish on his very first day show of very famous cooking show named Khana Khazana. It was incidentally ran for almost 2 decades.Served well with Soft buttery garlic naan.

If anyone really wants to try authentic Mughal food then this is the place. They serve fresh food over here and I personally like Mutton Dum Biryani, even paneer kofta is a must try. Being a pure non vegetarian I liked their veg dishes. Their service is really great though they take too much time to serve the food. It's very nearer to Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Overall great experience
