I often bring home delivery from this place. The food is homely. Some items to try Chicken Curry,Mutton Kasa,Chicken bharta, matar paneer & palak paneer. The fish items are also good.
It is also the Restaurant is not Ac but the food is good
It have a quite good quality foods in a reasonable price ... Pocket friendly ....😊😊 Biriyani is most popular here .... Also the tadka fry is good
A perfect Dhaba in North Kolkata which serves Bengali cuisine. Staffs are quite old and knowledgeable about their foods
The food is Average but keeping the prices in mind its great. Its clean and neatly served too.
Thank you
Aahhh.... A rainy afternoon and hunger, the best companion possibly can be. I was searching for a Bengali lunch at Shyambazar. Searched at Zomato and came to learn about Hotel Priya. The AURA inside reflected the old Kolkata charm. I ordered for Chicken thali and loved their presentation. Water was served in a 'maatir bhaar' and the rest you can refer to the image, missed to click the 'aamer chutney'. I can say just hop in anytime for a perfect meal in a pocket friendly price. Came to know their Biryani is real good too.
Shopping in Shyambazar, Hatibagan and College street?
You can definitely hit this place if you want bengali food.
I asked for (Bhat,Dal,aloo bhaja, potol er dorma, mochar ghonto, muri ghonto and Chicken kosha). You can try out fish curries as well!
Here ,what my taste buds say,
"Every thing is nice and tasty"
One of the Oldest Places in North Kolkata.
It is located near Aminia, Hatibagan.
It's neither a hotel nor a restaurant. It's just a road side dhaba kinda eatery, where you just can not much about the ambience .
They serve a lot of dishes including Biryani , Chap Tadka, rumali , tikiya masala and so on.
I simply love their
Mutton Biryani - Rs. 180 /-
Chicken Chap
and Rumali Rotis .
Pros-
▪Extremely Good Food.
▪At such Reasonable Price.
▪Hygiene is maintained to some extent.
▪Quantity is decent.
▪Take away is available.
Cons-
▪They don't have AC.
▪They have a small congested seating arrangements which one may not like.
▪Not a place to sit and have food over there for very sophisticated ppl. (Depends completely on how big foodie you are!)
▪No online delivery option is available as per my knowledge.
But yes, honestly it's a MUST VISIT place for all the Biryani Lovers.
Do try out guys and let me know how's your experience! 🙂
Best cheap place to eat Bengali food..which are also delicious... we ate katla Posto, chicken kasha and veg thali..plz go for it...
Malaicurry,mutton,pomfret,bhetki are also available..
I picked up my ordered food from their store.
The chicken kosha was spicy and mouth watering.
Overall a great experience.
They also serve several other items.
hope to have something from their store in near future
Very nice fish curries are served here.I liked the chicken curry and rice with a little bit of extra lime.Vegetarian items like 'Dal bhaat' etc. are average and the seating is the worst. No cleanliness at all.You have to share your table. Not everyone wolud like to dine in at this place.
One of the oldest player in good food joints. They serve perfect rumali. Other than delectable bengali homely dishes the mutton tadka deserves a special mention.

Whenever mom is out of station, this is the place from where we bring home delivery from. The food tastes really well, quantity is good too.The fact that they maintain the quality of the food is what makes the experience even better. The pricing is reasonable too.The chicken curry is really good.
It was with my friends on navami afternoon
Awesome lunch served
We ordered
1. Veg thali
2. Mutton kosa
3. Chicken kosa
4. Chatni
When it comes to the greatest festival of bengal its a sure thing we like to eat bengali food.
The food quality was exclusive
The veg thali consisted of ALU POSTO, DAL AND STEEMED RICE. The alu posto was unique and the dal was also real tasty.
The came the showstopper MUTTON KOSA AND CHICKEN KOSA
Both were vry good regarding the price
The mutton pieces literally melted inside our mouths and the chicken were a bit hard but tasted real good.
All meals require a perfect ending which came with the chatni which was exclusive. It tasted just like my mother makes in home.
Its not a highly rated place but if u r a bit low on your pocket and want tasty yet reasonable priced food congo u have found one.
Will surely be coming back next year
Same day same time same venue same friends
Heard a lot abt its biriyani n mutton chaap. Finally had it and it's worth the praise . Biriyani was super aromatic n mutton chaap was oily n juicy as it should be . A must have but yes work out the extra oil n fats u intake
Authentic Bengali cuisine from both sides of Bengal and in very original price. Really value for money, awesome formalities. Every bite is finger licking and presentation is that good too. Ambience is a negative because of its small place but overall very intuitive.
Hotel priya is situated in shyam bazar, kolkata. Serves all kinds of cuisines. My favourite us the bengali food that they serve. Starting from vetki machher paturi, chingri machher malaikari, shak, ilish machher bhapa... i can go on all day with the delicious menu. If u are a bengali and have not tasted fish from here, then my friend you are at a loss! This place is a small restaurant with very little place to sit and eat, and even then the amount of rush you can see during any normal weekday is just phenomenal. This just proves that even though the ambience is not the kind people would prefer, the quality of food out-stands everything else. A must must must visit for all the foodies. Enjoy the food at home or sit there itself and relish! Dont forget to ask for the chatni😜
Yesterday I was shopping in Hatibagan area and Suddenly I found this non-ac food joint out of no where. Anyway it was pretty much crowded when I got there. In one word its a "pice hotel", just like in old calcutta. They had so many things to offer on their menu. Apart from plain rice & daal, plenty of fish items were there. I ordered rice, daal and "Doi Rui".
Food items were great in taste and the pieces of fish were gigantic. My tummy was filled with happiness.
As it was in noon I cannot comment on the food items of evening. Within Rs. 130/- my lunch was done, so its pocket friendly one too.
I would definitely recommend people to go to this place and have a nice and warm meal, but if you are looking for sitting comfort or brand then its not the right place for you.
Very old type hotel. Almost packed crowd through out the day. Situated in a prime location near Shyambazar. Just in the opposite lane of Talkieshow House. Serving people for long time with quality and pocket friendly prices. They serve mainly Bengali dishes like Rice, Fish, Chicken, Mutton etc. Take away facility I available. Lately they also use to serve Rumali Roti, Chana Masala, Paneer Butter Masala, Biriyani etc. Due to its emmense popularity the lane often use to call Priya Gali.
Food is awesome. Although its not so called restaurant. How many times I have been there I dont know. Today will also go..I am looking for it.
Well this is till the cheapest on this area. Have been here a lot of time since childhood. Dishes of mutton and chicken are little rich though no doubt that they test best with rumali roti. Special biriyani demands a special mention
Before Arsalan and Aminia had taken their market share in the shyambazar area , this place used to serve the best moghlai , specially biriyani and chap. I don't know about the present quality of food served there but it used to be an awesome place for take away biriyani few years back.

Budget friendly Bengali cuisine! Well u name the dishes they have it all. Chingrir malaikari elish bhapa potoler dolma posto aloo chittol Er muitha...... God I m salivating .
The food is pure bangali and is yummilicious.
Only con about this place is there sitting arrangement too crowdy it's like your Chingrir Sur may land on someone else's plate ewwww. If you plan for a takeaway then it's the best pocket friendly delicious Bengali resto you would ever come across.
It's situated in a galli just opposite to the Aminia, Fariapukur. It's one of those good old 'paise' hotels in Kolkata. During afternoon they serve varieties of Bengali dishes to relish. Banana leaf and earthen pot of water(vanr) welcome you at the table. Then rice, dal, bhaja and macher matha die bandhakopi (Cabbage with fish head) remind me of thakuma-didimar hater ranna. Ah wonderful if you ever have lost between languages. And the mutton curry. 4 decent sized pieces of juicy mutton make my day. Extra rice...to complement with...
BENGALI RESTAURENT WITH THE DELICIOUS & AUTHENTIC BENGALI TASTE. PERFECT QUANTITY WITH REASONABLE PRICE. JEERA BATA JHOL, MUTTON & MURI GHONTO WA@S SUPERB. SORSE BHTKI, RUI BHAPA & SORSE ILISH WAS AWESOME.BUT THE POTOLER DORMA WAS LITTLE BIT SWEET IN TASTE. THANKS "HOTEL PRIYA" FOR MAKING US A SPICY SUNDAY LUNCH WITH MY FAMILY. MUST VISIT AGAIN VERY SOON...........
A famous hotel in shyambazar area with delicious menu
Egg butter tarka is one of my favorite items and mutton biriyani after that..they have a good flavor of there mutton tikia and chap which is also favorites of many people
The final lunch of the tour and we decided to visit this joint . It turned out to be a good choice indeed . We wanted to try biryani but unfortunately they told us it is available only in the evening past 6. But we still decided to have a go at whatever they had for lunch and ended up eating Fish and Rice with bhaja and dal. It was a treat , enjoyed it totally . Thank you Zomato.
excellant Biriyani and chicken chaap ! Biriyani is better than Arsalan even.... For god food in Shyambazar area, one must visit the joint
Good food. Reasonable price. Comes in a generous quantity. Delicious.
I guess, the bengali food here is to die for. People have a thing for its North Indian delights too. But I cannot really tell you about it. We had ordered rice, daal, mutton, prawns and some vegetable curries here, all of which were savory! Although the place is a little shabby and cramped up and in dire need of a renovation, the food nailed it big time!
An amazing place for Bengali cuisine... Please don't go by the look... The food quality is simply unbelievable.. Dishes like mutton kasha, rui posto, rui bhapa was outstanding.. If you are an authentic Bengali food lover, you must drop in at this place...
Don't go by its decor or ambience, its 1 of d worst in north kokata.... but for food quality n price,d hotel is 1 of d best. i ve visited here may b 100 times....for lunch menu all kinds of fish items r superb...during festive season, chingri malaikari n in rainy season, ilish vapa is must try. i especially like their kacha lonka peaj er mourola jhal. Chicken n mutton items r ok type, but fishes r more preferable. For dinner, muttin tikia n romali ruti r must try....n quality of mutton biriyani is comparable to Arsalan easily. all BHETO BANGALI' should try d foods....but u ll b comfortable wid home delivery,u cant sit n eat properly n peacefully in rush hours.
The foods are good and one of best Bengali food hotel in the area. Quality is good. I had fish n rice with other side dishes and it tested like it's made in home. I had biriyni n rumali roti and chicken kosa another days it wasn't bad either. The biriyani may not test as you predict it to be but not that bad
Used to visit this place quite often as a child.Used to love their Biriyani,Chaanp, and Rumali Rotis.
The taste of their biriyani lingers like the memories of childhood. From the recent pictures, it seems the place has not changed a bit in the past 15 years.Would love to go there again.
Visited today. Got warm reception. Sitting arrangement is not so well. Clanliness is not up to the mark. Congested with people. But the real thing is it's foods. All items are available mentioned in the menu chart. Price is very much pocket friendly. Taste is good. Well served. Fish items are awsome. Just good. I reccomend to all ro visit the place. Hv fun frnds.
Being a biriyani gourmet means that you end up trying the dish from various odd joints. And sometimes you are pleasantly surprised indeed. Hotel Priya has made sure that its biriyani remains top class for the 20 odd years that I have been frequenting it. There is no presence of ambience. It is a local joint where you can have your regular rice and dal too. So I would strongly recommend takeaways. The chicken chap and tikia are also a worthy mention.
If you are in this part of the town, do give Hotel Priya a try.
Totally bangaliana. Too good bcz effortable price. Delicious plate. Must try vetki paturi, murighanta & vape ruhi exellent. Ruhi piece to good. Over all good with affordable prices.
Whenever mom is not at home or any guest comes.. The first name come Hotel Priya .. The quality of biriyani is comparatively ok.. The #tikia and #chap are the best thing which you get..
Good classic bengali ghoroa khabar... do not feel like cooking definitely a place to go... cheap food... at its best... gets a little crowded at times
The fish dishes, chicken biriyani & chicken chaanp are good.
theye're serving bengali foods since a long..but sitting arrangement is just a s*%t..they've quality foods, pls try it ..take parcels and enjoy at home..
This is one shitty place to eat considering the sitting arrangements which are not comfy at all , their staff group is full of children which is not very welcome at all and goes all the way against the rule of child labor. This place is best for take away.
But still after all of that negativity, I have rated this place a 3.5 just because their taste in food. Their Chanp (Both Mutton & Chicken), Tikias are absolutely like a piece of heaven. I haven't checked out their Bengali menu though. The Biriyani they serve and the piece of meat therewith is also of good quality. Over the last decade I've been eating at this eatery and I'd say that their food quality hasn't got decreased any bit, and they are very popular among the neighborhood.
If you are in a light mood to enjoy good food with friends or alone this place won't disappoint you.
P.S. They don't charge any tax or vat either and this place is non-AC of course. They Serve different menu for lunch and dinner and though it is written here in Zomato that this place opens at around 6 pm, which they may do, but still I must caution you that you won't get their special Tikias and Chanp till 7 pm. So visit a little late.
Hope this little neighborhood eatery surprises you in a good way.
this is the place which serves u some great bengali food at a reasonable price..i have heard about this place from my father and today my dad took some fish and veg items from here ..it was a well known name in this area..
we had chingri malaikari, plain torkar dal, potoler dorma, ilish vape and kosha mangsho..their fish items are supeebly tasty am bowled over with the ilish vape would like to try their bhetki and parshe delicacies as well..chingri malaikari is spicyyyy aahh ..lovely.kosha mangsho was delicious and potoler dorma deserves a special mention with the filling it tasted yummyyy..
i never knew such a cheap priced restaurant can serve such great bengali dishes..i loved their food...and they pack it very nicely in the foil..great food.."ranna e bangaliyana"..:)

The Description: If u wanna eat Real Bengali food... Come to this place... They really make some good finger licking Bengali dishes.. Before the Hatinagan market at the fariapukur. I often take parcel from here.
The Ambience: Its a small hotel type with limited seats.
The Food: Mutton is very Tasty and so as the Prawn items.... U may also go for the Fish items.. There food will make you feel like home. All the items are not available everyday and everytime.. it depends on the day what they make....
The Conclusion: But overall its a very good place to eat a Bengali Flavor...
Note: The review is based on my personal visit and experience to this place.
Whenever ma doesnt cook, its priya's biryani. What u cant miss here is the chicken chaap or tikia along with it the softest ever roomali roti. A must try.
Nice place to have a lunch in a reasonable price they provide tasty fish items...
I usually take away from this restaurant as it is not good for Dine-In. Food is delicious (especially Biriyani) and will keep you licking your hand.

The food is a marvel here !!! Sitting arrangement is poor .doesnt look like a restaurant .. .. seems an open dhaba kinda .. yet not a dhaba !
Nice little food joint located in fariapukur more.. Lunch menu is sumptious especialy their fish items. They are so delicious. My choices are "Chingri Malaikari" and " Hilsa Vape". Have a try , price is moderate. In dinner, they serve biryani and other mughlai options. Taste is good.....
Sitting arrangement is not good at all, very little place to dine it. Also without a.c.......
My favourite food place for Biriyani and Tikiya. I can assure you one thing, mutton tikiya of this hotel is one of the best you will have in Kolkata. Just amazing 😍😍.
In lunch you will get various types of fish chicken mutton along with traditional Bengali dishes and rice.
In the evening you will get biriyani, tikiya, tadka, chap etc.
The quality is awesome. Very few hotels can maintain quality for such a long time. Whether you have bengali dishes or mughlai the quality is just awesome.
I have been having food here for more than 20 years now.
Must have - Mutton tikiya
It's an awesome destination for food lovers. All of my family members went to have our lunch several times there. Delicious tasty dish, reasonable price. Love you Priya.
The restaurant at Hotel Priya is a culinary haven, enchanting guests with its exquisite blend of flavors and impeccable service. From the tantalizing aromas that greet you to the elegant presentation of each dish, every aspect embodies a dedication to culinary mastery. With a menu showcasing both local delicacies and international fare, paired with an ambiance that exudes sophistication and warmth, dining at Hotel Priya's restaurant is an experience that elevates the senses and leaves a lasting impression of culinary delight.

The food excellent but the place is too cramped to sit and no air conditioning so hot.
Can experience several types of fish curry including chiken and mutton preparations.
Better to take away and have the food at some other place.
Mocha preparation was excellent 👌.
A typical Bengali food hotel. Good taste of dishes. Always crowded. Good behavior of staff. Cash and Card both mode of payment available. Rush in early if you want all kinds of fish to be available.
Very very good quality food available in this place, variety they provide in fish is commendable, the service is exceptional and cost is fair as per quality. Rice quantity is questionable but can be overlooked
If you want to taste authentic Bengali food, especially fish and don't mind eating in a no frills cramped set up, then this place must be on your bucket list.
The size of the fish is simply unmatched & same can be said about the taste.
Have been visiting this place for last 15 years, the quality of food is consistent.
Must try - Rui Poshto, Macher Matha diye Dal, Shukto & other delicacies of fish.
Mutton is also good, but don't bother because Golbari is at a stone's throw distance.
Outstanding food junction in Hatibagan. If you are in Hatibagan area and looking for lunch solutions in Bengali style, then you need to come down to Hotel Priya. Hotel Priya is located opposite side of Faria Pukur lane and Kinnar Kinnori. I usually take rumali roti with mutton kosha. This is absolutely outstanding. This is not upscale or family restaurant, bit cozy. Daily office public, medical representatives usually takes lunch here. Food quality is outstanding. Price isn't cheap as food quality is really good. you can Bengali thali with fish, dal, rice, alu vaja or any vaja. Chicken and Mutton kosha also there as well. When you visit here, please take roti with mutton kosha. In the evening, you can get Mutton Biriyani, Mutton chap, rumali roti, chicken bharta, chicken kosha etc. I must say, food ia really good here.
Good food ,lots of varieties of fish preparation, price is reasonable.space is very short, sitting arrangement is not much comfortable.Otgerwise it is good for lunch and dinner in a very simple and basic way.
The good old charm of North kolata.... Calling it 'hidden gem' might sound like exaggeration and i might be biased due to the old memories around this place, but given a chance i would always like to give it a shot.
PS: Mutton chaap is a must try.
Take away joint. Good quality Bengali food at affordable price.
Special recommendation will be mutton tikia. Pocket pinch resturant.
The food is great. Especially the mutton kotha & ruti. But service is slightly high & food is slightly costly. But you should try there mutton, it is totally worth paying for.
Fresh and best Lunch in Shyambazar/Hatibagaan Area.
I will give 4 stars to the food they served me...
For rest, attaching the pictures,Decide it by yourselves
Old pice hotel, but a bit costly, mainly for the oversized pieces of fish, I wanted to try multiple types of fish, but could not, due to big size of wach piece.
Excellent place to have Bengali lunch and Indian dinner .. Reasonably priced and very tasty food.
Located Just Opposite To Hatibagan Aminia Outlet, This Outlet Serves The Purpose of Fast Food at Affordable Prices 🙂
Had Mutton Biryani There. Decent Experience in Quality But Could Have Been Much Better in Quantity (INR 190). Space for seating is limited and extremely congested.
