Restaurant is located very near to South city but it was empty when we entered. Decor was ordinary. We heard it was famous for chilly pork. So we ordered it. Chilly pork was really awesome. We also ordered chicken clear soup, Cantonese chowmein . Noodles was awesome soup was ok.
Hong Kong was the first Chinese restaurant near the Lords crossing. I always loved the food and hated the rude service even in the 80s. Will remember the shock of being served Chinese in stainless steel cutlery when I ate there for the first time. Back then the food was expensive but may be reasonable now to many. But the flavours have been good always. Hong Kong would have got my 5 rating But for the ordinary docor and unchanged attitude of the staff.
Hong Kong was a hot favourite 10 years back. I agree that there are several other options in this area, but some of their preparations are still very good. Their dry chilli chicken and american chop suey are my personal favourite. Other than these their hakka noodles and fried rice in staples are pretty okay. The place hasnt changed since a long time. And the staff are decent too.
I love this outlet as it remains peaceful most of the time. Visited the place so many times yet we still love to go when ever we visit South City Mall. But, I must mention that the quality of food has been downgraded recently. I hope they improve or work on that.

I really liked this restaurant . It provided me the solitary dining experience I was yearning for . The price was reasonable and the quality and quantity of the food provided were both excellent . Though not huge and shiny and extravagant , the place was very clean and the staff friendly . The food was delicious ! I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone .
Well visited this place after a long gap. I have been visiting this place since my childhood days and believe me nothing has changed over the years. Same taste, same ambiance and almost same pricing. In short Old is Gold
It pains me to see a 2.1 rating for the Hongkoong restaurant.I have eaten here innumerable times.At a time when there was no South City mall and the Lords crossing was not the food corner as it is now,Hong Kong was the only restaurant worth its name serving entire lake gardens and Anwar shah road.It served a good chowmein which is noodles with gravy and vegetables and was one of the few places in south Calcutta to serve pork.
So it was today.While the pork was a little chewey,the noodles were good and however much I tried I don't think this place deserves a 2.1 rating.I suggest a good manager for this place and maybe spruce up the interiors and go back to their roots .....simple,spicy,kolkata Chinese and their glory days might come back
May be the whole attire is not up toothed mark but the moment I get the food I just forget about everything else... I can definitely say that I had one of the best chilly chicken in Kolkata over here in Hong Kong I just love the food...
This place is very close to my home being situated very close to the Lords Crossing towards South City..Place is decent enough..neat and tidy and the staff also is co operative. The seats are quite comfortable but the place is very dimly lighted and the ambiance fails to impress me. The food quality is good enough with most of the items being quite tasty and delicious. However,considering the size of the restaurant and the ambience i would say that it is slightly overpriced which is perhaps because of its prime location...if the prices are brought down a bit the place will attract even more customers and flourish more..overall decent enough!
I get very nostalgic when ever I visit them... the smell inside this Chinese restaurant is what i miss from our big names....
I generally eat 3 items out there nothing more than that no experiments.
1. Gravy Chow-min (mixed with pork) I like it; very few places in Kolkata serves the same taste.
2. Boneless chilly chicken dry...
3. Boneless chilly pork dry....

Do not be fooled by the ambience. The food is just brilliant. Order the fried rice, pork chilli , garlic prawn and manchurian fish. I'm sure you'll thank me later.

If you are looking for a nice chinese restaurant near Lords Bakery Crossing on Anwar Shah Road then Hong Kong is a wonderful place.
The interiors are air conditioned and the food is not very costly .Is is a nice place to dine out.
Faces inculde Momos, Prawn wafers, Chilli Chicken , Szechuan Fish , Hakka Noodles , Fried Rice , Fried chilli Pork etc.
Would rate it as an average on..not that great..ambience,behaviour of staff not good..food is good though but that what matters mostly..
One of the best places for Chinese in Kolkata!!! Its pork mushroom and vegetables is indeed special. Dry chilli pork is also quite good. Chilli chicken preparation is unique!
I really don't know why the rating is so less!! May be its because lot of people don't have the slightest idea about this place! This place is a gem when it comes to chinese food!! Too bad people don't realise it!
I visited Hong Kong a few months back.. Tried Hong kong special hakka noodles & fried chili pork. Its still the best pork item I have tasted till now. You can also try Chinese Chopsuey which is way better than its American counterpart. Ambience is good, calm and quiet! They also provide free home delivery within a 1 km radius. The service takes time but its worth the wait, I can say that! We would surely visit this place again soon... :)
Gone There With My Ex Boyfriend On New Year Evening. Had Garlic Chicken Gravy With Chicken Fried Rice. Awesome & Delicious Food. Same Food Quality Like Kankurgachi Hong Kong Branch.But The Outlet Is Bit Smaller In Size Than The Kankurgachi Outlet. Had A Nice Time.
Always the best food served. My family had been going here from late 90's, always loved the food but in some days, we call and nobody picks up the phone, seems very busy or closed.
