A lot of memories attached to this place.. Used to come here with my dad on Sundays.. Still visit the place at least once when I'm in town.. The food is good and very affordable. Ambiance is not that great for a date or a formal meeting but still this place is worth a try.

Mouthwatering Chinese Food @ Hot Pak, Bangur.!
Hardly a place not known to the ones staying nearby, the food at Hot Pak has been one to rely upon since ages now. Situated right across the main road, and very easy to spot, Hot Pak has always been one of those ready to go places for a quick hearty Chinese meal, unless you are too apprehensive and jittery about the décor and ambiance. Dimly lit bulbs create that fading ambiance, while you perhaps get yourselves seated against the plastic chairs.
It was a short and quick meal for us, so we kept our choices brief. We opted for a Mixed Chowmein and Mixed Fried Rice, which had good and formidable chunks of egg and other meat tossed with the well boiled noodles and the fragrant rice. The rice appeared to have a slight edge due to its subtle textures. For main courses, we tried Chilli Chicken Dry, which had medium sized Chicken portions fried in a batter and tossed in black bean sauce.
The gravy was mildly spicy, with the right amount of soya sauce, salt and chillies to balance out the plain rice. The Garlic Chicken was a surprise, with the chicken flavoured with the garlic pods and the gravy perhaps having good amount of chilli sauce. The last item for the day, the Sweet and Sour Chicken had minimal sweetness and not overly shadowed by pineapple or other sweet condiments. The Chicken portions in all these maincourse dishes was soft and easily to bite upon.

A small food hub where you will get some good quality Chinese dishes. not so many dishes but the dishes you’ll find here definitely worth to have it. from the quality and quantity point of view is good, value for money. located Bangur Avenue, Block-A, near Bangur. the dine-in section is not so spacious but good for a quick bite session. this place only serves food from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

here i spent my many evenings since 1983 till 2007..from my birthday bash to christmas gala..... in my childhood my father used to bring chicken fried rice and chilli chicken with gravy. later when i shifted to Delhi for my business, i compare the sublime taste with that i experienced in other 5 star restaurants of Delhi...and the latter unbelievably pale into insignificance. i can not also compare it with the experience i had had in other top-notch kolkatan restaurants. later when i was in college, i even then used to haunt to test the incredible fare of hotpak. during my adolescence, my pocket allowance was puny. so it was comfortbly accommodated to the astonishingly cheap rates. so if you have been living in Bangur Avenue or Lake Town and want to experience something like a special evening then go to none other than Hotpak.
It is quite popular among locals for it's rather cheap food service. Don't come here in hope of fine food or fine service or fine ambience. It is very small, no such space for sitting also. People only prefer its Chinese sometimes for it's cheap rate nothing else.

A very old food joint in Bangur Avenue area. But do not be fooled by appearence, the food is quite good, mainly their garlic fish and chilly chicken is a must try if you are looking for good chinese non-veg. They have been around 20 yrs and holds their quality and quantity. #Goodfood

The most pathetic place and its service is so bad!
I would suggest please dont opt for this place , I dont know how people can say that its good but the incident which happened today with me personally was very pathetic!
@hotpak

It was really late and I wanted to pack some food for my family. I found this place open. This is a small restaurant run by a family in the ground floor of their residence. Ordered mix noodles with garlic chicken starters, chilli chicken gravy and a sweet corn chicken soup for myself. I would say this was my first visit and I'm totally pleased. the quantity was perfect according to the price. This place luckily doesn't take any tax. Much pocket friendly place with good food
Not recommended for dine in as the place is too small and stuffy, but perfect for take away.
Debadipa Mukhopadhyay
This is a very cheap Chinese joint. Provides generous servings. Value for money. But sometimes their standard falls. Which maybe attributed to changes in cooks. Overall a good place for a tight budget.

I visited this place today after almost 4years. Previously the food was quite good at the given price point but all my hopes were shattered today.
I ordered for Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chowmein and Chilli Chicken for dine-in.
The food arrived quite quickly and the quantity at the given price point is commendable. But alas, these are the only plus points I can think of.
The food tasted horribly bitter. The chicken dish was also distasteful.
The food served was also stale most probably as it gave me a sick stomach on returning home.
NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
Debjani Chandra Roy
Local food joint in Bangur Avenue. However, it's quite old. Do not expect anything fancy. But it can definitely save your day when other options aren't available. Food is okay. Good for take away. Seating option isn't that great. Dimly lit, small area.
Akash Biswas
I guess this is the Cheapest dine in restaurant in Kolkata but don't ever think to dine in cause it's a restaurant run by a family and has very less space once it used to be the finest and the only resturant in bangur Avenue but now with loads of other options ppl give this a miss... But is not so great but at such a low price u might find it a good place to hang out with friends. The soup is the specialty here
Anirban Das
Except for the noodles and fried rice offered here, nothing is good. The side dishes and gravy dishes are not up to the mark . The chicken portions are 1/4th of their actual size mostly coveted with thick layers of dough. The flavors and taste are disastrous. The ambience is to stuffy. The place just wouldn't suit you for having your food there. Better to opt for parcel.

Here's to comfort food, dunk into Chinese at Hot Pak

Traditional Chinese food is without doubt one of the most exciting and diverse cuisines in the world.
But be aware…
If you think you know your Chinese from your local takeaway back home, think again because it’s like nothing you’ve had before. Kolkata has had a perpetual history of people from China infiltrating first at Achipur , such that we have our own China town in Kolkata. However the authenticity has been a major challenge, as the confluence of Indian palate has slowly merged in.

Curious to know what real, traditional Chinese food tastes like? Take my opinion, don't! Rather, try out on Chinese cuisine closer to our Indian palate. An age old quaint little joint at Bangur serves somewhat similar Chinese delicacies - presenting Hot Pak.

Where? Situated on the main road ,the address reads 119, Bangur Ave, Block A, Bangur.

What's available?
There is an array of dishes to drool over on,but the following are my picks-
Mixed Chowmein : Chinese mixed chow mein is a very versatile and complete meal wok tossed and completed with egg, chicken, prawn and a lot of vegetables.

Mixed Fried Rice : The hearty and wholesome staple rice, fried with veggies, eggs, chicken and prawn makes it drool worthy and perfect to tag on with the saucy sides.

Chilli Chicken Dry : Indo Chinese Chilli Chicken is a nice saute of spices, sugar, sauces and boneless fried chicken cooked till perfection.

Garlic Chicken : Succulent chunks of chicken coated in a sticky base of flavours – it is all subtle, yet finely balanced with a lot of garlic (without overdoing it), a dash of vinegar, a pinch of sugar, a hint of chillies.

Sweet and Sour Chicken : Sweet and Sour Chicken with crispy chicken, pineapple and bell peppers that tastes just like heaven.

So here is a shout out to a delicacy enjoyed this winters by slurping down what's hot. Drop into to Hot Pak to discover more.
Cheers!

This place has a lot of childhood memories. Run as a small family this place can win your heart if you love simple and quiet. The food is quite good and one plate is enough for two people if you are a normal eater. Most importantly this joint is very cheap.
Saket Mehrotra
This is an orthodox family owned joint. The home delivery services aren't quite upto the mark but one can have a good meal at a 150-200 rupees budget. The boneless dry chilli chicken has been a ideal part of my weekly meals as a starter since it is right between my home and office location in the locality

This is a really small place in my locality, mainly for home delivery. It's a tiny apartment, the ground floor of which has a few tables to sit and dine in dim lights with 2 fans above your head. The place is really cheap. Sometimes I drop by during my evening strolls cause this is one of the very few non-veg places in Bangur Avenue.
I generally order the chicken sweet corn soup just for rupees 40. And they give it to you in a big bowl, the soup being as tasty as in big restaurants. The starters like dry chilli chicken and chicken pakora are good options if you want a quick snack, getting bored at home. Though not upto the mark, still you'd get prawn curries at just rupees 50.
The place only serves Chinese cuisine. They also serve large groups if ordered from before hand. If you have to distribute food packets to a group for some occasion, you could rely upon the fried rice and any chicken gravy from here. I could say, all non-vegetarians of my locality have definitely visited this place ... :-)

Hot Pak is a restaurant which has given me many memories as an adolescent. It was very near to the tuition centre where i used to study and Hot Pak used to be a kind of hang out for us. Do not go here for the ambiance as it is a small little place inside a flat. The food is good enough to be ordered and delivered at your doorstep. I am sure you will not have any complains regarding the quality and taste of the food because its fresh and cooked well.
Revtee Das (@_missfluffy)
This place serves chinese dishes just the way I like. No matter how big a food chain is, this one is my comfort food station. Never in my life i have sat down inside for a meal, it was always a carry out for me and enjoying the food at home. The food is value for money. I love their mixed chowmein and chicken sweet n sour. The mixed chowmein has enooooough proportions of egg, chicken and prawn. Its just yummy. The sweet n sour chicken has six succculent pieces of chicken. And you'll get both within 200. Just try it.

its a more like an "adda" place for college students than a proper Chinese restaurant but it serves quite palatable chinese dishes at very reasonable price. Me being a resident of Bangur, Hot Pack is so far the best chinese restaurant at reach with free home delivery to any near by place even outside Bangur.
Rupkatha Basu
it's more like an eatery where you can find a table inside a flat on the ground floor of a residential building. no points for the ambiance. in fact, it is better if you pack your food and eat at home. but the food stands out. very tasty chinese at an awesome price. the dry chili chicken and mixed hakka noodles are worth mentioning. the garlic chicken was just perfect. the best thing was their chicken is very soft and succulent. two thumbs up for the food. also, it is conveniently located on the maid road of bangur just a few yards from the mother dairy depot.ideal for college students
