one of the best best cheap 90's style restaurant...
One of best nostalgic place I have ever seen... It's located near jadavpur area... 5 to 10 minutes walking from jadavpur railway station.. Indian coffee House also known as ' adda doyar jaiga ' and I think Indian coffee house all bangali weakness.. expensive restaurants and cafes can beat Indian coffee house embodiment actually I can't explain by words...
Located jadavpur 8B bus stand, food at cheaper rate is available here, we have ordered chicken kabiraji, and cold coffee , food was very testy , nice place to hang out with friends

Great place to spend some time with your friends. The food quality is good and I love the place ☺️
My favourite dishes are in frame. I love visiting the place. Would love to visit again. But as its remains quite crowded it's hard to get a place in the evening.
I rate this cafe with 5stars not only because of the food but the ambience it creates is really a feel good factor that gives you a Calcuttan touch.
Newspapers.. wooden tables and chairs.. beyara.. cup plates.. very nice :)
Good food. Good ambience.
We tried,
1. Chicken chowmin
2. Cream coffee
3. Garlic chicken
4. Onion pakora.
#bongtummy #coffehouse #onionpakora #garlicchicken
4 stars just for the history and ambience of the place. Absolutely love the age old uniforms of the staff. But highly overpriced. But again, one of the oldest places to chill in Kolkata. So really not gonna complain much!
Just beside my university and in today’s world the cheapest place to have coffee and good food, where you can get a roof😊. I am fan of the chicken soup they serve there and definitely recommend it to try.
It's almost my second home. I love to be there and I spend my every weekend over there.
👍infusion
👍dry chilly chicken
👍hot garlic chicken
👍bread toast.
These are my favourite items which I order everytime. "👏👏
On 6th September 2017 Around 3:45pm Me & My Friend Arnab De Decided To Go & Visit This Place Indian Coffee House, Jadavpur For The 1st Time. Located Very Near To The Blue Lagoon, Jadavpur. We Tried Their Hot Coffee Chicken Sandwich & Boiled Egg. It Was Very Tasty & Delicious. We Had Great Time Together. And At Last We Left That Place Around 4:15pm. Thank you Indian Coffee House For Making Our Day Fantastic.
It is just an outlet of the main Indian Coffee House,College Street.
If you are looking for a place to chitchat with friends, this is the place.
And obviously pocket friendly.
Went to this outlet yesterday evening with my friends to chit chat, sip some hot coffee and munch and grab in some evening snacks. The food was nothing exceptional. But exceptional is the sense of old vibe that it creates, long lost adda and feeling of nostalgia that it brings. This will always be my go to place.
It's a small version of Indian coffee house at college Street..the food quality n waiters are ok.for enjoying the nostalgic ideas and ambience n giving gala adda the place is convenient
In this age of modern and posh restaurants this place has been able to maintain its wonderful charm and crowd pulling ability. The most iconic place of Jadavpur, it is a favourite of young and old alike. Finding a seat here is the toughest thing to do as this place is always jam packed. Coming to the food, the quality is reasonable but it takes a back seat given the extremely cheap prices at which they come. I really hope that this place never loses its charm and continues to enjoy its iconic status!
If you have been to ICH(college street outlet) first and then give a visit here, then you will be a bit disappointed. You're gonna miss the air that prevails in college street. I had been there few days ago with my friend to have a cup of coffee. We both had coffee and chicken sandwich. The coffee was a bit watery whereas the sandwich was way to dry. Price was nominal or should i say cheap. Ambience was okhayish.
Near the jadavpur this is another outlet of indian coffee house..... we all know about this great indian coffee house.....i tried fish finger from there.....and its too good and tasty....also mughlai paratha is too tasty item in here..........................
Overall it will not stand up to the expectations after you have visited the College Street branch. It's comparatively small and you can't smoke here. The food is not so good.
This is a place that reminds you of the eternal bangali adda. Its been here for ages. The best food is butter toast and coffee. Sandwiches are so so. Hygiene is a issue. Crowd is not always upto the mark. Service is so so. No parking. Overall a very casual place.
A place which was visited by my father with his friends and now, it is the place I visit with my set of friends. Famous for its coffee and the adda sessions-- Coffee House manages to maintain its reputation over the years. The Mughlai Paratha is a ravishing hit; so is the Kabiraji and the Afghani Cutlet. The best part about visiting this place is you don't go there just for the food; you go there to create and keep memories for a lifetime.
Oh, rightly said by Shreya on her Facebook timeline.....
"Diner sheshe klanto hoye....Indian coffee house e eshey bosha r aro adda..."
Yeah, finally had a chance to sit at Jadavpur Coffee House, it's like the stress buster after the long day event...
Oh, Yes Yes! The taste is still their, we ordered Chicken Omlet Fry each (it's of course, Adwitya's choice - 'n I thank him on behalf of the team), chicken sandwich and my all day favourite hot mug of coffee.
Trust me, Chicken Omlet Fry(the special dish of Jadavpur Coffee House - as told by my friend Adwitya S. Das), was really yummy in taste and it will melt in your mouth.
If you haven't tried it - you're unlucky - this puja you must come down to this place for this dish (now it's my recommendation).
Another epic cafe joint.. you gotta visit.. visit to witness the melange of the nostalgic golden olden days with the vibrant youth.. amidst the lingering noise one can relish a hot coffee with friends.. sweet hearts.. politics.. healthy debates and endless talks overseing the crowd beneath..
Dont expect anything.. just let loose..
Not uploading pics.. Just go.. And experience.. Its priceless!
Great place to hangout with your friends. During college life visiting this place is a must. If you are looking for delicious food this ain't the place then, but if you are looking for some coffee and adda do try out this place.
please please don't get me wrong............. i have spent all of my college and university days here....no i am not writing a single sentence about food...but trust me with that very lil pocket money those days this place always opened the door...........no compare nothing i just love you for whatever you are
Indian coffee house, jadavpur is a nostalgic and cool place to have adda with your friends with good food and coffee. Or you can simply sit alone, prepare your lessons with a plate of sandwich and coffee. The taste of food is not something extraordinary. But the quality is good and prices are very reasonable. I have tried chicken sandwich, chicken cutlet, chicken kabiraji, baked fish, grilled fish, onion pakora ,and obviously coffee (both hot and cold). All of them is good to taste. Specially in evening adda mood, these are enjoyable. But I avoid to have noodles there since it is very oily. You need to stir the coffee carefully to get your required sweetness i.e. to mix the sugar properly.
I have no idea why I haven't reviewed for this place till date when it has become almost my regular haunt. Ordering cold or black coffee(depending on my mood) is a must for me with either onion pakora or egg omelette. But I have also tried out almost every item on their menu card already, be it cutlet or kaviraji; Fish fry or sandwiches; chowmein or fried rice.
This place is the best choice to finish reading a book or writing your essays or just simply hang out with friends. Staffs are co-operative, food is moderate, the environment nostalgic even with small space area .And though you cannot smoke inside, there's the long gloomy corridor/balcony to do it while getting the view of busy Jadavpur.
I have to say getting a table there particularly after 5 in the evening is a matter of sheer luck.
I am rating this place 4/5 out of nostalgia than food but yeah, food is decent too. I can't count the number of times me and my boyfriend sat here, eating sandwiches and cold (or black, depending on the season) coffee for hours while our experiments ran in the lab just a few steps away (in the chemical engineering lab of JU). Group studies, writing assignments- whatever it may be, we were here, occupying a small square table, talking for hours on end ordering one sandwich after another so that no one could ask us to leave (sorry to those whom we kept waiting in line outside).
Coming to food: I recommend dry chilli chicken, Mughlai paratha (though it is a bit tough on some days) and sandwiches. Their egg sandwiches are better than chicken and you get big portions too. On a hot day, we would order at least two glasses of cold coffee because it's damn cheap and damn soothing! The espresso is quite nice too but ask them to put less sugar beforehand because they are way too generous with it!

Nice place to hangout with friends. Bangali adda+ friends +infusion makes perfect evening. Chicken cutlet is my favourite dish over their.

Location- Near 8b, on the 1st floor of the same building that houses bake club and Bawarchi take away..
This cafe is old but less popular and visibly much smaller than its college street counterpart.
But somehow they serve better coffee , i love their egg and mutton sandwich
Though they serve Chowmein but it will be wiser if you stick to the snacks..
A suitable outlet for students as the picket picnch is very less
pls don't expect ac or quick service ;)
Not as great as the one in College Street, but nevertheless once you taste their items you get the quintessential Indian Coffee House feeling. Had their onion pakoda with sauce, chicken cutlet and kabiraji, slices of fresh oven-baked buttered bread and their mutton Afghani. Not really satisfying, lacking in the zing, but once or twice if one can't visit the outlet in College Street then one can satiate one's longing for this iconic coffee house's popular items at its replicated twin in Jadavpur.
kothai achhe ghoroya poribesh. exctly familiar to family. quality tym spent place. food is great went with friends. awesome. should try . service is good even.
Drawing any comparison to any other fancy, themed or dazzling new cafe will be so wrong and unjust for this old standing heritage...It has its pros and cons ,but come what may there is an old charm and love for this place..which made me write this..
The place has called nothing of ambiance..but yes it has Life!...Over the bland simple chair tables ,thousand of people still stop by everyday,,and getting a place at times get difficult...
The coffee is okayish...The mughlai and kabiraji i find too oily..the pakoras and omlettes are great...what i love here strangely is the Mixed gravy chow and chilli chicken...The mixed noodles with its mutton bits is realllly awesome!
Yes this place could definitely use some upgrades and little change in food and drinks and inside..but still I would hold it close to my heart..for its nostalgia!
Nostalgic Charm and Great Brews ✨
Indian Coffee House in Jadavpur is a hidden gem that exudes a sense of nostalgia. The old-world ambiance, combined with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, creates a cozy haven for conversations and contemplation. The menu offers a delightful range of beverages and snacks, all served with a touch of tradition. A must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts seeking a taste of history and a cup of excellence.
If you are looking for a hole in the wall, this probably is the oldest one. It is an experience to be in such a historic place where so many thinkers once sat. The crowd is mostly old since youngsters probably prefer shiny new cafes. The food is not ground breaking but it is good and consistent and tastes like nostalgia. We had cold coffee and chicken kobiraji.
The cold coffee is a must try along with fish fingers and fish cutlet... It is quite reasonably priced too. The entire meal was around ₹200 and quite enough as an evening snack for 2 people.
As you are entering 8B, look towards your right towards the jadavpur market and you'll see if on the first floor a little bit into the lane.
It's good.. service seems to be like the old historic coffeehouse..but not exactly . It needs to be a little clean and representative. What I didn't like is the smoking part.. it should not be inside the cafe. Otherwise on top of the market and easy to find and reach... So many other options on the same floor..
They have retained their traditions yet..
It's in Jadavpur, 1min walk distance from 8B bus stand..
Nice place, staffs wear their signature dresses, you can feel nostalgic with the atmosphere..
Come to the food. We took-
*Hot Coffee
*Fish kabiraji (90/-) teast good, fish stuffing also good.
*egg sandwich (50/-)(not good in teast, didn't provide any sauce in it.. only boiled egg, black paper, and bread)😔
Staffs behave nicely...
It's a very popular meeting place for youngsters and common people. The food and service is moderately good. Need cleaning and sound absorption panels in walls.
Indian coffee house branch in Jadavpur is what I like the most. Nice neat and clean with airy atmosphere. No smoking is allowed here. Though one can go outside to the balcony for smoking.
Staff behaviour is descent and helpful. I like the food here mostly the cutlet. Coffee is also good here. Best ambience to have an adda and chillout with close buddies.
Bengali's nostalgia. One of the favorite place of most of the Bengali's. Best place for time pass with your friends family and loved ones.
But food quality is not so good but yes if you want to hangout and want some 'chay adda' place then this is the best place ever.
Actually this is a place of nostalgia for Bengalis, lot of famous persona like - great singer Manna De and many more used to be regular visitor of this place. Situated at heart of college street and college square area. A must visit place for young college going pupils and for book hoppers...feel the north calcutta vive, old building structure with lot of history in it...
The ideal place to spend some leisure time with your friends, family or dear ones.every item that I have tasted so far is really good.. Chicken cutlet surely deserves a special mention. Other items like fish fry, chicken omlette, mutton chowmein all are superb.
Age Old Large Cafeteria ,probably the biggest one in the world. There are 2 sections Ground and Balcony ..The items are slight on the higher side in the balcony and Waiters do force u for tips in Balcony..
First time we had Coffee which was good as per my friend..I had Mutton Kabiraji which was not so good according to me ..
On the second go we had Chicken Hakka Chowmein which was liked by both of us ..Cost came around Rs.85 + Rs.10 Serving Charge or Tips whatever u can say ..
Definite visit when u are in Kolkata...
One of best nostalgic place I have ever seen... It's located near jadavpur area... 5 to 10 minutes walking from jadavpur railway station.. Indian coffee House also known as ' adda doyar jaiga ' and I think Indian coffee house all bangali weakness.. expensive restaurants and cafes can beat Indian coffee house environment actually I can't explain by words...
A great place . Although it's name has "Coffee",
You can get other items like pakora , fried rice etc. Manna Dey famous Coffee house song is based on it. It's near the Presidency University .
The only down thing is that the rates for food is huge and it's filled with smokers.
Vintage place with the old charm at the heart of Jadavpur. You can feel the culture of this city in these places, which otherwise has been decaying over the last decade.
