Both of us are hard-core fans of Biryani. We never miss an opportunity to eat biryani and kebabs. But as the time flows by, we become little choosy about biryani. So we always seek for restaurants with authenticity regarding our beloved dish. “The Awadh Restaurant” is a result of thorough searching. This Restaurant had both satisfied and upset us. I will tell you the whole story. So stay tuned or you can always fast check our foodie-meter below in case of time shortage.

Location-
5 mins walking distance from park circus 7 point crossing. And 10 mins in bus from rabindra sadan metro station. The restaurant is located in the 1st floor. The sitting arrangement is spread in 2 parts.

Ambience-
As soon as u open the door to get inside u will see Glimpses of Old Mughal Legacy including the staircase, the decoration on the wall, the swords on the wall, the photos of emiment monuments of Mughal Empire, a large mirror of Mughal Gharana. Inside the sitting area the sofa table glass, spoon, the wall hangings, photos of Imambara everything would make u think that you are sitting in a Mughal Emperor Palace for a Royal Dinner.

Mutton Chapli Kebab-
In 1 plate there are 3 no's big round pieces of mashed mutton keema served with green sauce and onion. It melted in the mouth and a feeling of 'WOW' was there in the preparation.

Fish Angari Kebab-
Taste excellent and very soft had 6 pieces of boneless Bhetki served with sauce and salad.

Food-Main Coarse
Kucha Nihari- Signature Dish consisting of 2 pieces of Mutton and 2 masala kulcha. Prepared with the shank meat of mutton cooked slowly along with the Bone Marrow (Nali). The gravy was very light yet tasty and exceptionally good. The dish originated in Delhi and popular in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Chicken Kolkata Biriyani-
Every Bengali dinner is incomplete without the mutton Biriyani which contained potato, mutton and rice portion sufficient for 2 people.

This place is located at park circus. Its speciality is awadhi delicacies. The decor is quiet royal and classy. Even other cuisines are also available which is quiet commendable. Here i had tutty fruity, drums of heaven and mutton dum biriyani. The first one is drink which is pista, milk and icecream based. Drums of heaven is tastes quiet tangy and sweet. Its a starter. It consists of big 6 pieces. The last one is the shows topper. The biriyani comes in a pot, half closed with aluminium foil with a heated charcoal in a small foil kept in the middle of the biriyani to make the rice more fragrant with the charcoal flavour. It conisisted of one big piece of mutton, one aloo and one egg. The biriyani was not oily at all. This a must try. Please visit this place with family and friends.

The place might be bit difficult to reach, but once you enter the place, your hard work pays off by the beautiful decor! The seating arrangement is so comfortable. The staffs are not annoying, they are cooperative and well-mannered.
✓ Mutton Tunday kebab: Oh my my!! I can still feel their richness in taste. So delectable! Yum!
✓ Hyderabadi Chicken Biriyani: I don't know if hyderabadi biriyani actually tastes like this or not, but it didn't taste like "biriyani" to me, more like masala chawal. and chicken piece was small, and the quantity was very less comparing to the price of this. It is very much for one person with one medium apetite.
But, i would really like to visit the place again to taste other dishes from their huge menu. ♥️

Return to the golden age of the Mughal Emperors with your dining experience. The Awadh Restaurant near Park Circus, 7 point greets you with the ambience of an ancient palace and combines it perfectly with freshly prepared Awadhi cuisine. Antiquity leaps out at you from the brass glasses, from the salt and pepper holders as well as the brilliant lighting. Choose from over several different kebabs, drinks and biryani, among others.
Satiate your taste buds with this platter of Murgh Malai kebab or Achari Kebab with a dash of green chutney.
Or maybe a platter of Cheese/Butter Naan with a bowl of Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala is more to your taste?
And of course...what's a Mughal meal without Biriyani?
The Awadh Restaurant also brings to the flavours of the city in a soothing blue hue. Aptly titled Blue Kolkata, it definitely helps you wash down your royal dinner.

The Awadh Restaurant is one of the most popular dining restaurant in Kolkata, renewed for their Awadhi and Mughlai dishes. We visited there a few days ago and had an amazing experience. The decoration is exquisite, properly reflecting their Awadhi theme, with portraits and replica displays. The staffs are generous and attentive and the service is prompt.

Items we tried :

1. Murgh Tangri Kabab - chicken leg pieces marinated in exotic spices and cooked. The chicken was tender and juicy.
Rating - 4.4/5 (Recommended)

2. Special Mutton Biryani - Classic Mutton Biryani with two soft mutton pieces, and egg and a piece of potato. The amount was also satisfactory. The biryani tasted really flavourful.
Rating - 4.5/5 (Recommended)

3. Firni - Perfect classic firni taste.
Rating - 4.3/5.

4. Shahi Tukra - Tasted good . This was the first time we tried shahi tukra and I found the sweetness a little more.
Rating - 4/5.

Overall we had a quite pleasant experience .

The park circus region is packed with some of the best names of mughlai food in Kolkata. This new place tries to serve the unknown side of mughlai food in a perfect ambience to us.

Location: Located just at the foot of the ajc road flyover on the ground and first floor of Hotel Acme, this place has a clean Mughal look. The lighting is sharp with Mughal and sultanate designs all over the walls and roof. A few swords are kept to maintain the Ambience. The detailing of the design is applaudable as even the basin is golden with Mughal designs on it and placed keeping in mind the overall ambience.

Food: We visited during the Mutton Nihari Kulcha festival. Nihari is a stew from India consisting of slow-cooked meat mainlyshank meat of beef or lamb or mutton or goat and even chicken, along with bone marrow. This Nihari is served with the soft Mughal kulcha bread and tastes heavenly. Currently, this festival is serving 2 kulchas with mutton Nihari at 389/- per plate.
We also had some starters like the Fish angari kebab, Mutton Chaplin kebab and Mutton Dahiwali kebab.
The fish angari kebab was soft and smooth. Very very slow cooked in naked coal flame resulting in soft and tender angari kebab. The dahiwari kebab was a twist in the known kebab field and will be a must try once u visit this restaurant. The curdy and milky appearance of the kebab and the tangy taste would definitely let your taste buds feel a new joy. The mutton Chapli kebab is almost like the gilauti kebab named in a different way, but tastes as awesome as the gilauti kebab one.

Service: the servers are courteous and attentive. Card and cash accepted. Parking available in front of the restaurant.
Definitely visit this place for an awesome experience in mughlai food. I'm very sure this place will be a prized gem in the crown of mughlai food map of the parkcircus area.

The price was only 389. The nihari was well cooked and the kulcha was soft and was the perfect companion with the nihari. The service here was as usual good , and the ambiance here is just superb. We also had mutton chapli kebab with these which was so soft and the preparation was somehow a different mughal cuisine. In one word it was awesome. Get a touch of the rich heritage of Awadh @ The Awadh Restaurant, Kolkata.!

The rich heritage and culinary masterpiece of the Awadhi Cuisine has been long in limelight. Its sheer sophistication, the optimum use of spices, and the subtle light flavors it carries, can be a delight to any tastebuds. Drawing a sharp comparison to the erstwhile Mughlai cuisine, the Awadhi cuisine is easier on your palette and although rich, do not appears to stuff you out. Having entered and ultimately becoming a part of Indian cuisine, the rich Awadhi heritage is a result of the years of conglomeration of various other cuisines from all across the world, all merging into the use of regional spices and whatever was available locally. The Awadh Restaurant, situated near the 7-point crossing at Park Circus, strives to bring to you some of the lipsmacking Awadhi flavours, along with popular dishes available elsewhere.

Segregated into two separate dining places, The Awadh Restaurant has an array of mouthwatering dishes set to please your flavor profiles. Although their main focus is on Awadhi cuisine, the Mughlai cuisine, with its rich, bold and striking flavours also find its due place here. The décor is minimalistic with paintings, texts and war souvenirs taking you back to the erstwhile era. We started off with some lipsmacking and delicious Kebabs. The Chicken Angara Kebab radiated the fine rustic flavor of the charcoal, with the juicy chicken with its traditional youghurt margination boasting of a strong flavor. The Murgh Banjara Kebab, as the name suggests draw its preparation and making techniques from the nomads or vagabonds. With once again the usage of rustic flavours, this was a sheer delight to the tastebuds.

Next to come were the Mutton Chapli Kebab and Murgh Dahiwale Tandoori Chicken. The Mutton Chapli Kebab to me was the best surprise of the evening. Originating from Peshawar, this Mughlai influenced minced meat Kebab, had the infusion of various spices and herbs with lovely grill marks on the outside. The Murgh Dahiwale Tandoori Chicken was a tribute to the popular Aslam’s Butter Chicken, with portions of chicken first smoked to perfection inside a Tandoor oven, and then mixed with fresh butter, cream and curd for that buttery and creamy goodness. One could easily pair up these last two dishes with garlic naan or any breads to balance the richness of these kebabs. Moving on to the maincourse, we tried the Kolkata style Mutton Biryani, Kolkata style Chicken Biryani and Awadhi Mutton Biryani.

For the first two, the flavours once again were light, and did not leave that oily or greasy aftertaste. The juicy chicken or the succulent mutton, combined with that delicious portion of the potato was somehow superior in taste to the Awadhi Biryani. Combining these three with their array of maincourses, we tried the creamy based Lajawab Chicken, which was quite simple in looks, but had that satisfying taste of capsicum and onions combined with the soft chicken chunks. The last maincourse of the day was the Mutton Bhuna Ghosht, a rich and slow cooked dish fried and cooked over coal with brown paste, until it turns rich, with the mutton portions getting soft and succulent and mixed with ginger-garlic and various spices. Ending the meal were the quintessential Shahi Tukda, with its deep-frying bread immersed in the sugary syrup and the sweet and simplistic flavor of the Phirni.

Walking down the streets of 17th Century Awadh, one would probably see food in every single area they looked. The Nawabs, the common folk, and even the chef of such places would probably go on and enjoy relishing the Mughlai Cuisine. What is Awadh without its kebabs and biryani? What is Awadh, if not a place to relish these spicy and yet savory cuisine?

Bringing you the authentic taste off the streets of Awadh. Located near the 7-point Crossing, the name's Awadh Restaurant, and the address reads 17, Park Circus Avenue, Kolkata.

The ambience gives off vibes of the proper Palace dining area of the Mughals. With that, we had the royal menu that consisted of:

Chicken Angara Kebab: A spicy take on yoghurt marinated chicken. Absolutely relishing. A MUST TRY.
Murgh Banjara Kebab: A Gypsy's take on cooking kebabs, such that it is delicious and yet adaptable to nomadic style of living. A one pot chicken meal with all the ingredients mixed together and cooked on a slow fire till done.
Mutton Bhuna Gosht: A deliciously rich dish in which meat is slow cooked and simmered with lots of spices. The mutton is then cooked in its own juices till it gets a beautiful dark brown color.
Mutton Chapli Kebab: Originating from the Indus region, this is minced mutton kebab left us awestruck and wanting for more. Another MUST TRY.
Murgh Dahiwale Tandoori: Chicken. Spices. Yoghurt. That's all there is. Oozing of amazing taste, with infused savory taste of the yoghurt, with slow cooked in a atandoor sets the dish apart.
Chicken Lajawab: Lajawab is the name, Lajawab is the taste. Absolutely lip-smacking dish with the perfect blend of spices and condiments.
Fish Peshwari Kebab: A brilliant rendition of the Peshawari via fish, the Peshawari was soft, well cooked to the inside, and well flavored throughout.

Mutton Biryani
Chicken Biryani

^Do I even need to begin with how good their Biryani is? One of the best in the Park Circus region and absolutely soft ajd tender pieces if meat served with a brilliant taste of the rice.

Park Circus seven point crossing is gradually turning into an epitome of Mughlai and Awadhi cuisine hub. The Awadh Restaurant through its kitchen brings to Kolkata the taste of Chowk area from Lucknow. During my latest visit sampled from their succulent kebabs to long grain biryanis to creamy full bodied desserts.
A good option for family dining.

We had variety of kebabs and among them enjoyed the smoky flavour Chicken Angara Kebab. There is an interesting mutton minced kebab called Chapli Kebab griddle on hot tawa and prepared like paratha with oil. Unorthodox filling and texture for a kebab but would suggest all to try as this is not prepared every where. Another unique preparation was Murgh Dahiwale Tandoor where clay oven seared chicken served with spicy yogurt gravy. Biryani was mind-blowing, try this will Chicken Lajawab. In case you prefer mutton then Bhuna Gosht is just an amazing preparation of boneless mutton pieces. Garlic Naan is alternative to enjoy the chicken or mutton gravy. Do note miss firni and sahi tukda in the desserts for a sweet note ending.

They have an option for valet parking too. Service is tad slow and unstructured but delicious food compensates the same.

Bro Tip: Must try Mutton Biryani, Chicken Angara Kebab, Mutton Bhuna Gosht, Firni and Sahi Tukda.
