A great place for Bengali food lovers..I have tried mocha chingri,alu posto,chicken kasha and rice from here...all the food was great and had a great balance of Bengali spices..the price is reasonable too...

I was exploring Gariahat market. Came across this place through people's reference. Heard, That the food was excellent for some authentic bengali food. I ordered for Chicken Kasha and Rice. Along with Crispy potato fries. They served me with Kochu bata (Taro Root Paste) that was superb. Finally, They served me with Pan er shorbot. The staff's were well mannered and soft spoken. Will surely visit again.

Tucked in a corner of gariahat, this is a place you might blink and miss. But looks like word of mouth gets it ample footfalls.
As a NRI, looking for some soul Bengali food, accidentally stumbled upon the place.
The ambience is ordinary though fortunately air-conditioned, but you might need to share a table during rush hours.
Service is prompt, finally regarding the food. Ordered moong dal, aloo bhaja, aloo posto, tengra jhal and shorse ilish. Complimentary dishes all tasted were kumro phool bora and man kochu bata. The starters, dal were up to mark, but the icing on the cake was the ilish, both preparation and quality.
Looking to be back on my next visit.

Only one observation their seating area is too tight. One has to adjust himself if someone sits behind you at the other table. Basically there is no spacing between two tables. Since the food is so good you actually ignore these small issues

Just the steam rice, moong dal and kumro fuler bora is enough to satisfy the thirst of bengali's comfort food.
The potoler dorma is a must try here. And the chingrimach r malaikari is definitely going to be the one to force you to order another plate of rice.

Just as the name suggests,this place specializes in vegetarian and non vegetarian foods of East Bengali origin.A few of the most recommended dishes,e.g.Dub Chingri,Dhakai Mangsher Polau,Sorshe Ilish and the indispensable Machher Paturi,not to name many.It is really surprising how they come over with the typical homely feel in each of their dishes. The surprise doesn't end here.Because similarly wondering fact is such awesome foods come at absolutely affordable price.

This restaurant is located in gariahat. If someone wants to try authentic Bengali dishes they should visit @Padmaparer Rannaghar. I ordered plain rice,sukto, dab chingri, pabda curry. I had to wait for about 40mins.With rice they served two side dishes narkel kochu bata and a brinjal item at free of cost. Quantity and quality is good.

The bangaliyaana served best here.... the Rice served on a kolapata, the complimentary kochu baata, the fries the dals are just at their best...feels at home where food served with love and delight....service is good staff is courteous....strongly recommend ....
I had kulfi here and it was wow. South Indian dishes are also good. So while doing shopping you can enjoy foods also here in gariahut. But the sitting arrangement is not that good.

Have been to this place couple of times and it is really good. Before in this place there was a different restaurant most probably "Sonali" I don't know exactly located in Gariahat. Now that shop got replaced with Padmapaere Rannaghar and many items are now available in this place. Bengali food, Mouglai, South Indian food all kinds are available here. While walking towards Gariahat crossing from Golpark you will find this restaurant in the left side of yours in a small lane.
I have tasted Biryani, Bengali Thali with Mutton and Fish Fry in this place and the taste was really very good. The price is bit high but I think that's absolutely fine to pay a bit more to have a good lunch or dinner.
Awesome place to visit. If u guys want to experience the traditional touch of Bengali Cuisine then dis is a perfect place to visit. They also serve south indian dishes. I ll suggest u guys to have 'Mutton Dosa" which is really good over here. Apart from this they also serve complimentary dishes which includes 'Kochu Bata" and its really good. Ambience of the place was not so good but the place was clean. They serve good bengali food with reasonable price. We ordered Plane rice, macher matha die daal, alu bhaja, topse fry and dahi rui.. They gave us kochu bata and kolmi bhaja as a complementary. Kochu bata was so good, I never had that awesome Kochu bata in my life. Daal, bhaja was also too tasty. Dahi rui was so delicious. But topse fry was not fresh, batter was too thick. All over this place is recommended for reasonable bengali cuisine
Heard about this place a lot from my colleagues. At last, today l got the opportunity to visit this place which was in my wish list for quiet sometime. Truely, l wonder why haven't l visited this place before!! Today, though we had a pure veg meal but l can vouch that soon l will be visiting this place for non veg dishes!!
The ambience of this place is good. The service, undoubtedly, very good. Finally let's talk about the food. We ordered plain rice with mug er daal, aloo posto and poster bora, followed by dhokar dalna, mango chutney, papad. They gave pui shak and mankochu bata... and all the dishes were really too delicious though dhokar dalna was a bit too spicy.The price over here is also very reasonable. Liked this place and l would recommend anyone who is seeking out to have soulful bengali food... then this is the right place for you.

Today visited this place for some south indian dishes with a friend... Ordered Plain Dosas... It tasted amazing... But the surprise was that the platter came with a bowl of authentic Bengali "Payesh "... It was a surprise for both of us... loved the food, loved the ambience... People here were very polite... Had dinner with family. We had Echor chingri , Maurala chorchori , Chital er Muithya and Tel koi and Pulao.Dishes were good but felt a tad bit chilly. The staff were not so courteous and busy amongst themselves.

So we ordered Sada Bhaat, Mochar Ghonto, Bhetki Paturi, Mutton Duckbunglow and Payesh. The Kochubata was complimentary. Food quality and quantity was good. If you are looking for cuisine from the other side of the border then this is the place to be. Service was prompt and courteous. However, I feel the place is a bit cramped and the interior could be improved.

Food: we tried Bengali food. We ordered yellow sweet polao, chicken duckbanglo, bhetki paturi, machher chop. And they gave complementary naam kichu bata and kumroful er Bora.. i must say all items were delicious. Naam kichu bata was really lip smacking good. Chicken duckbanglo was just perfectly cooked. the yellow polao was light less oily and tasty. The fish chop was tasty but had some fish bones which offended me a lill.. but over all evry item was good.
Service: hospitality was real good. Men in pure bengali attire, dhuti Punjabi were welcoming d customers. They helped in food selection also.

They served us two complementary dishes,posto bata(tastes like it's a homemade one) and bokful vaja(tasty and crispy). Mugdal tastes a bit sweety but one bowl is a bowl of happiness. Malaikari is much from expectations with the size of 4 bagda chingri. Pabda Mach is beyond the quality (cheaper to the size and taste),the curry is more tasty. But the handwashing corner made the ambience upset. Otherwise it's a good place for having Bengali Dishes.Sagar Baidya

âĒFOOD- Ordered plain rice, lau chingri, mutton and daab chingri. The lauchingri was delicious n so was the daab chingri. Both the dishes were tremendously good. Co.ming to the mutton it was avarage. The restaurant also served complimentary dishes like kumrofuler bora and paner shorbot. The bora was tasty and the shorbot was quite refreshing.(4/5)

Well this is a pretty old food joint located amidst one of busiest market places in kolkata.The restaurant specialises in Bengali cuisine especially the bangladeshi style.This was my 1st visit.i had pretty basic delicacies namely rice masoor daal fish fry and katla kaalia.The fish fry awsome and wholesome.The quantity of daal and rice were appropriate and to add to our delight kochupata bata and bokful er bora were complimentary with rice.The food was impressive and will be surely back to try the other items of my traditional bengali cuisine
It looks like a small place from outside in the gariahat market, but turns out to be of good size when you enter. Bengali food is pretty delicious, with the quantity of an item good for two people. The rates are reasonable for the variety of items they serve. Staff was helpful and also served that day's special item to us off the menu.

Small eatery hidden among the busy street of Gariahat on your way to Golpark taking the right side footpath. If you are not paying attention, you might even miss it. Clean restaurant, good in hospitality reminding you of a homely atmosphere. Serves good array of Bengali dishes, good on pocket. They usually give complimentary dishes like kochu bata or kumro fuler bori etc. If you are looking for ambience and flashy get up, then this is not your place. But obviously this is your place if "pet bhore bangali khawa dawa" is your mantra.
The foods were too yummy..Too much pocket friendly..Perfect place for a Bengali food lover..The kekra-do-peyaja was really finger licking...As well as Chital macher peti...Daab chingri was too good..Quantity is enough for two people..Ambience and service were really outstanding..I just love this place and foods obviously..đ And one more speciality was Pan er rosh đ

One of the best restaurant catering Bengali Cuisine in Kolkata and its my favourite when it comes to bangali khabar. It serves dishes both from East and West Bengal,hence having a huge variety.. uniqueness and innovative dishes. Its situated just beside the Gariahat bridge towards Dhakuria A Golpark. Ambience is neat and clean. Nothing fancy. Service is good. Usp is the food that keeps surprising you with its rich aroma, taste and variation.
Ilish Bhapa & Ilish paturi is a hot seller here. Also Mutton Dak Bangla perfectly made to go with Anarasher Madhyamani Pulao or you can simply choose Sada Bhat. The Kochu bata and Posto bora can add twist to any dish you are having. Gulp down any food with Aam pora sorbet to make room for more delicacies. Also we chanced upon seasonal Taler bora ( fritters made of palm pulp) and pan shot (mouth freshener). One must visit here to taste the real Bengali Cuisine!

Authentic Bengali food.. As this restaurant is not so famous like koshe kasa / vojohari manna etc, but it was beyond of my expectations. Damm good Bengali cuisine at a affordable price u can get here. We ordered chanar dalna, dub chingri, mutton dakbanglo, anarosh r chatni..they served bok-fuler bora and kochuu pata bata as complementary dishes. Servers were soft spoken nd with well behavior. Interior was moderate.
Totally a random visit here... Me and my dad was looking for good Bengali restaurant and bumped into this....and I don't regret it...

CONS:1. The waiters should help the people know about the quantities of each item per plate.2. All the items are à la carte, which results in a little huge billing. It would have been good if Buffet is available.3. The ambiance was also a little bit vintages bathroom was too small and the flush was also in a non-working condition.

Went there for a sunday lunch. Since we were early - the place was pretty empty in the beginning and then gathered decent crowd. The servers were courteous and helpful by suggesting their house speciality. We ordered plain rice, luchi, potol er dorma with prawn fillings, chhana r dalna , galda chingri malaikari and crab masala.
Plain rice was served with kalmi shaak and maan kochu bata - this was splendidly tasty and won our heart. Patal er dorma and galda chingri were delicious too. chhana r dalna was little too sweet for out taste though. Crab masala was tasty but a bit hot.
In the end they served a shot of pan and accompanying spices which is unique and great.
The ambience is humble and comfortable enough - overall a nice experience.

I must first admit that i missed out on taking pictures at this place. The ambience is very very ordinary and staff quite courteous. We were given a table just below the air conditioning and there was water dripping on me constantly. I then had to shift to the next chair as there was no other table vacant.
Now coming to the food, we ordered steamed rice, aloo bhaja, mutton jhol and pomfret fry. They gave us bokphul bhaja and kochu baata complimentary. The rice and bhaja were all cold (not even warm). But when we complained they are quick enough to replace it. The mutton jhol was heavenly. I enjoyed every morsel though they can do better with the mutton pieces (most of it was fat). Pomfret fry was usual. There is a lot of room for improvement. Not sure if this place will be amongst my top choices for bengali food
It's a decent restaurant which serves Bengali cuisine.
The food was good. I loved their sorse bhapa ilish.. the rice, vegetables and prawn. The dakbunglow mutton curry was again something which i loved. The masala pompret was ok. The aam Panna was good. It can be tried for a decent Bengali food.

Pulao and Murgi Dakbanglo preparation was very good. It was very tasty. Chingri Malaikari was good but could have been better.
It is very good place to try authentic Bengali food. I am looking forward to visiting the place again and try some other food items as well.
Only one thing was missing. The sincerity of the people working there. They are dressed in traditional outfit but there servicing was poor. When they were giving spoons they were just throwing it the plates in very rough way, neither they provided glass to drink water. On asking for glass then only they provided it. It could be due to rush of the hour. Still it is an area they have to improve upon.

Nice place. Food quality is just awesome. If you like bengali food I suggest to visit them. But I give 4 stars for their behaviour.
Amazing food ! We had basmati rice, koraisuti dia moong dal, jhuri aloo bhaja, chicken kosha, bhetki r paturi. They gave us aloo sag bhaja and kochu Bata as complementary to our order ! The best part was the paan shot at the end of the meal. The paan shot was really special and very tasty. The food had authentic Bangladeshi taste and flavours. The ambience was okayish. The service is good. The waiters were very cordial and dressed in traditional Bengali dresses. At peak hours, there might be some waiting time. It is located in Gariahat.
Well delicious and sumptuous food but when it came to packing the parcel, they faltered on that. They packed me somebody else's food !!
A decent bistro with okayish food. It serves mainly Indian and Chinese cuisines. Pocket pinch is low.
Evening snacks is not upto the mark. We had ordered for Mutton Moghlai Paratha but we couldn't find any mutton in it.

This is a Bengali cuisine restaurant with limited fast food options at Gariahat in Kolkata. The price of food is reasonable and the waiters are attentive. The wait time is longer after you place the order for any item of food, even for a chapati (Roti). Although there is both Cash and card payments but the cashier will grumble so loudly for card payment, that instead you will pay in cash.
Taste Wise one of the best, excellent authentic food, u should try once.
This place is a little difficult to find but recommended by the roadside stalls. Moderately priced and items tasted fresh and well prepped.
