I visited this restaurant twice. The quality of the food and staff behaviour was good.
After a decent experience at their Sector 5 outlet, this was the time to have a go at their Kankurgachi outlet - Banana Leaf @ Komal Vilas, Kankurgachi.
Their menu is pretty vast and we went for a simple order of an onion rava masala dosa. They did take quite some time for preparation, but it was worth the wait as the dosa was pretty tasty, but a tad too oily to our liking! Noteworthy that they serve 3 different types of chutney and the obvious sambhar!
Quality and quantity served is decent, food presentation and service is also good. Ambience is average and pocket pinch is reasonable!
Overall, a nice experience!
Cheers!
Good food. Prompt service. Would very much recommend for a quick meal or a lazy weekend breakfast.
Tried the paper masala dosa and the Upma. Both were delicious and lived up to the legacy of the place.
Only recommendation would be to add some more bite-sized vegetables to the sambhar.
I love south Indian food very much..and the food quality is very much authentic..love the mini thali of banana leaf..first we have visit at rash behari branch but whn it has opened at Kankurgachhi we are very much happy cz nearest to my location at any point of time can go there and enjoy our food..
Banana Leaf is one of my favourite restaurants if really want to have some South Indian food like Idli,Dosa,Upma,Uttapam in Kolkata.Very good quality and delicious food.
Banana Leaf has always been a heaven for South Indian food lovers.. n I was really excited, to see they have opened a branch near my home.. the restaurant is located at phoolbagan crossing, so connectivity is good.. they have the same ambience and decor.. the staffs too have the same uniform, and the menu card is also the same.. everything is good like the one at rashbehari, except that we were a little disappointed about the quality of coconut chutney and shambar.. some how it seemed a bit bland and thin, than the one we usually have at their mother branch.. so it's a 4 star instead of 5
It's a simple yet cozy South Indian restaurant painted in green. It has comfortable seatings and I quite liked the ambience. Went there for lunch. I really loved all the dosas. The items ordered were :
1. Normal idli : tasted good.
2. Butter masala dosa : it was tasty and filling too.
3. Rava masala dosa : it was good with chillies inside.
4. Lime soda : it was nice.
So overall it is a very affordable restaurant with some good food.

This is one of the good South Indian food outlet I've been to.
It has various types of dosas idlys and the quality of the food is great.
The ambience is not that much, but the quantity and quality is excellent.
The hygiene is good too.
Overall 4/5
Best place for south indian cuisine..!! Coffee is a must try.. Tasted at many places.. Theirs is the best..!! Loved it. Had gone several times..!! And will visit again.
An amazing place so near Salt Lake and it was heavenly. Cleanliness, hygienic and superb service. Prompt and courteous staff. The food quality is par excellence. A must visit. Infact, Salt Lake residents, we have a place offering authentic South Indian food.
The food is amazing! Unlike other south indian outlets, this place serves authentic south indian food. We ordered the normal meals and paneer onion masala dosa and cold coffee. The cold coffee was made from filter coffee and it was soo good. Each item in the thali was superb and the dosa just too good. The halwa in the meals was LoVe !!
