The food was amazing. Chicken Banjara with Roti, Chicken Tikka biryani. But the service was slow. Would love to visit again.
Well balanced butter chicken that seems to have a hint of cheese that blended in with the garnishing and dressing. The butter garlic naan was neither overcooked or too soft. Just balanced enough to scoop up the gravy. The ambience has a rustic setting with off beat decor at the theka.

Visited this place last night and even at 10pm the place was crowded. Live music was very good. Has dhaba feels with khatiya and chairs.
Food is very good but the staff takes a lot of time to come to your table but they are very friendly .

Nice place with live music aslo fab interior! Plenty of parking space. The food here is good but the rates are too high! We went for chicken handi and mutton handi, but in comparison the mutton handi was outstanding! Would recommend mutton handi even if u don't ear mutton try this one! Although the price was too high for mutton handi but it was worth having! Overall a good experience!
Amazing dhaba experience since years ... the taste of food is same as before very mouth watering , live music .. just mixes in well they have added one more new place sunny da theka lounge .. a go to place where they have this big screen playing all songs and even live screening “lonavalas orignal dhaba rocks!!”
This is a go to place when you are in lonavala. Good food( chicken banjara handi) and the quantity of one dish can serve 5 people. Service is nice and so is the ambience. Not sure whether they serve liquor any more.
The cleanest dhaba ever. We sat there for a few hours and enjoyed our meal and drinks. Loved the jal jeera. So basic yet so tasty. We ordered for chicken tikka, the cheese masala papad that was massive and our favourite out of the lot was tandoori prawns. Crispy, spicy and loved the curry leaves that it was garnished with. For the main course, we ordered for chicken tikka masala in spicy gravy, dal makhani and laccha parantha. And we can tell you that the taste was nothing less than a Punjabi Dhaba you find up in the north. We were absolutely thrilled with the service, the food and the hygiene of the place.

One of my fav restaurants in lonavala. My uncle and Aunt introduced me to this place . It has an amazing vibe. Lovely barbeque the paneer tikka is so amazing . Potato barbeque . The food was really tasty.

Its a nice place. The name does justice to the place. Its like a dhaba with "khaats". The drinking section is inside. And the dining is what is seen from the highway. The food is nice. Ambience is pretty cool. Also, if your visiting to drink then there is mosquito issues in the driking section. Otherwise, its pretty good.
This place is everyones fav in lonavala. They are best known for their butter chicken. If you are looking for some great north indian food than this place is a must go when in lonavala.

I make sure when ever pass through this road , I make sure I have a halt at this place! Sometimes I have travelled all the way from Thane to have food over here! The climate at Sunny Da Dhabha is just ultimate in the rainy season tho! Have been visiting this place since years and have never been disappointed! But also can't deny the fact that this place is damn costly tho!

This used to me one of my favorite places around lonavala but that's not the case anymore. The food is just very regular like any other dhaba but super heavy on pocket. You can surely give it a miss. I am probably never visiting this again after my disappointing last visit. Though if you happen to visit to try the lassi and chaas.
Recently visited this place. It is located on old Mumbai-pune highway. The place has got great ambience, music plays till midnight, the service is very impressive! You will find this place pricey by looking at the menu but the quantity of the dishes is huge! Almost 4 people can share one butter chicken! Even the quantity of chicken platter is huge! Also the food is prepared exactly how punjabis do it! The butter chicken was absolutely tasty and also the chicken was cooked through! The naan was soft and covered with butter! Perfect place to go and enjoy meal with friends!

What a place to dine in! Gives you a feel of an authentic dhaba! The service is fast and really good. Ambience is simple but the music and the dance area make it place which cannot be missed. Ample area for parking your car. It also has a pan shop of it's own where amazing pans are prepared. Only problem which they can work on is the mosquitoes and the payment methods for alcoholic drinks. Cards are not accepted for the payment of drinks.

OMG!! Their food is amaaazing! Their portions are gigantic so be warned ;) We had the mutton chops which were succulent, juicy and tender. We also ordered butter chicken and raan. Both very, very good. They manage to pack loads of flavour without being overly spicy. My rating is purely based on the food flavour. While they are relatively expensive, the portion size and taste do make it worthwhile.

This place is easy to reach and easy to spot on old highway, when going towards lonavala. The ambience is lovely, and it stays open till 1.30 am - in case you are looking for a late night hangout. The place is decorated with fairy lights and lamps, along with charpai, and hence has a dhabba feel to it. The Indian food is really nice and spicy, though it is not easy on the pocket.

Situated on the highway, this gives you complete dhaba vibes with this lower bench sitting and the lingering smell of delicious food surrounded by greenery.

I have been here twice and I loved it on both instances... I would have given this 5 stars for the taste but the reason I gave a star less is because they didn't inform us that their card machine was not working till they got us our bill and by that time we were super full and drowsy due to the heavy lunch.. so imagine how it is to go and find an ATM ..plus the staff seemed a bit disinterested in general on both our visits..

This is the kind of place for which people drive down from Pune or Mumbai. Nice earthy ambience, gives you a proper 'dhaba' feel. Lots of parking space and surrounding greenery.Their employees are very friendly and attentive. They have separate seating for those who want a good dose of alcohol.
The first thing you need to know about their food is the portion size. Everything is king size 😃. We ended up ordering more naans than we needed because we were not aware.
Next, you can't count your calorie intake when in this place. The food is incredibly tasty as a result. The naans were slightly crisp and buttery despite being quite thick. Arguably the best naan I've ever had. The butter chicken was rich and spicy, so was the vegetarian dish. The tandoori chicken was spicy and juicy. The lassi was great too.
The process are a bit on the higher side but considering the experience, I'd say it's worth visiting.
Their washrooms were surprisingly clean. Although there hygiene could be improved otherwise. The paan shop outside makes things even better.
Must visit place if you are in Pune or Mumbai. Cheers!

So this place serves best north indian foods ..like we have ordered some masala papad for start and butter kulcha and paneer burjee masala with 1 chaas for our mains that was heavenly good

until we received our bill and here comes..we had asked them to get machine swiper for the payment and guess what they told us ..we accept cash not cards ... i mean thats fine but you should have mention somewhere .

As residing in Mumbai there is always a special connect to Lonavala for a long drive as I have heard of this place sunny da dhaba from many of my friends so as winter are round the corner it feels great to visit Lonavala for long drive accompanied by dinner. As the overall ambiance of the place is decent with all char paiee which gives a proper dhaba feeling and comfort as when I visited there was some live singing performance were going on singer was trying his best to do justice to his voice overall ambiance is lively do justice to the dhaba concept as the dhaba. On menu they have just crossed the alcohol section as they might have stopped serving but I could see many beer cans around served by the dhaba it was fishy but I wasn’t that curious to know about it anyways the best part of the whole experience was food the food is proper Punjabi food you get crazy butter Chicken, tandoori, chicken lollipop, prawns gravy but I would like to highly recommend butter chicken the must-try dish I am sure u won’t regret. Guys overall it great place to chill with some yummy food and as its November winter is around the corner so definitely we all have more reason to visit Lonavala.
Can't ask for a better place to have punjabi food in lonavla.. the food is spicy.. n there's no doubt about the quantity of food served.. if one sees the rate, he may get a shock but after seeing its quantity, one will find it quite worthy.. if you order one main cousre for eg. Paneer Tikka.. its enough for about 3-4 people..

We visited this place for lunch today. We ordered the Sunny's SPL. Chicken Platter. It was a good suggestion by the waiter. It had different types of Kebabs. I enjoyed the pepper kebab and chicken tangdi. We later order the famous Sunny's SPL. Butter Chicken it was a bit expensive but after we had it i loved it. It was really good. Overall it's an expensive place but good for a one time visit.

Both yum, but the sukha mutton had a gravy similar to the chicken. So that's a minus point. Our server should have told us.

Overall experience was great for below reasons.
1. Awesome food. We had veg bhoona masala and paneer tikka masala with garlic nan and butter roti. The give complementary green chutney which was really awesome.

Its a nice place to visit for Punjabi food. It gives you a typical dhaba experience but with 5star hotel rates. It offers normal chair seating as well as the typical 'khatiya' with takiyas.
We order chicken and paneer starters and both turned out to be delicious.Main course was the chicken with roti and veg biryani and it was good as well.They serve liquor and sheesha too.
The staff is very cordial and service was relatively fast for such a big seating capacity.
It had nice big open parking lot. Wash rooms were clean and well maintained.
Quite a famous place just opposite to the wet n joy water park. We went there on Sunday afternoon at 3pm & had to wait for 15-20 min. They have a huge dining area. Good taste overall for every dish we had ordered. They have a nice playing area for kids too. We had to wait for our food to arrive for almost 35-40 minutes but the quality and taste compensated for it. Little on the costlier side.

Sunny da Dhaba is a Dhaba with a twist. When we think of a dhabha we think about a highway restaurant but this one is more of a lounge situated on a national highway. The ambience is amazing and has appealing looks, they have multiple table arrangements for small families to large groups with modern cots and chairs. One special thing about this place is that they serve you sweet curd cucumber/coleslaw, variety of pickles, onion salad and pudina chutney while you wait for your order without any additional charge (Just like North Indian style dhabas). They have a small garden and play area for kids and also a paan shop for paan lovers. Now coming to the most important point, quantity, quality and cost of food. They serve alcoholic drinks as well and the cost is quite high just like any lounge in metro cities. Food quantity is good for a couple with an average diet if one dish is ordered. Quality and hygiene is very high as compared to local dhabas, washrooms are very well maintained and clean like multiplexes. The cost of food is on the higher side, a small family with 2 kids can generate a bill around 2000 - 2500 without including alcoholic drinks. Overall this is a very good lounge named as a Dhaba but expensive.

One of the best dhabba to try in Lonavala. Authentic Punjabi food. I am impressed by the portion size and the taste. The butter chicken is a speciality of this place and the thick gravy literally has the taste of butter. The naan is super soft which is buttery in taste.

Before heading back to Mumbai, we visited the og sunny da dhaba for our dinner. They serve North Indian cuisine on the old highway. I don't like that you have to pay tolls to visit these dhabas for food even after paying the expressway toll as well. We ordered tandoori mushroom, tandoori babycorn, kadai paneer, makhni dal, laccha parantha, tandoori roti and naan. The wheat breads were a bit too dohey not the best but I dont expect amazing North Indian in this region anyways. Everything else was tasty and well made.
The dhaba is clean and the staff is very polite. The service is a bit slow and we had to wait quite a bit for our food. The washrooms were clean with no bad odour. There is a quaint play area and children's rides but they were shut at night.
They play good music with videos on their projector which really gives the place a nice vibe. When we arrived they were playing old school Bollywood classics and the dhaba felt like a time capsule from the 80s with the staff uniform and the decor and setting it was very quaint and nostalgic. Later into the night they were playing recent hit tunes.

But the food was good, Quantity was deplorable, Considering the astronomical rates of min Rs800 a dish min ,one would expect a decent quantity. Had to order 4 dishes for 3 people as it was so less . Felt like a 5star you got to eat a meal and end up with scraps and a bill 6k , Not worth the price . Value for money 1/ 10 quality , food 8/10 Not like it was anything special. Even the Mixed dal 1 portion gave us a spoon each . Honestly as a novelty place it is good but if you want to eat properly and feel full ... I would suggest somewhere else .
