A restaurant which is over 100 years old and still striving with serving the best possible meals to it's customers!
This is Ulte Tawe ka mughlai paratha.
Made with flour, milk, semolina, carrom seeds ... so soft that it melts in mouth.
Mutton Shami kebab is always a personal favorite!
And shami kebab is their signature dish .
Galawati: 5/5 amazing
Boti kebab: 5/5 very good
Mutton keema: 4/5
Chaap: 3.5/5
Mutton biryani: 3/5
Pasanda: 2/5
One best thing I saw that They don't use Broiler chicken meat and Prepare "Desi Chicken meat" best quality. Highly Recommended. They are the one who prepare real Nawabi Taste food Since Decades.
Sakhawat is a tall standing example of Awadhi cuisine, the food at this place is garnished with lethal doses of affection. I have never had a sad meal at sakhawat. Being a regular at this place and the restaurant having shifting menu through the week has helped me gnaw almost everything the chef has made, also the only chef owned restaurant in town. The love with which the food is served will make you feel home every time. Sakhawat holds the best of everything. Their food is a reminder to people of Lucknow of the greatness of mughlai cuisine. The kebabs are delectably melt in your mouth kind, their mutton biriyani is an alternate kick on the yakhni biriyani of Lucknow. The fish just falls off the bone every single time: perfectly cooked. Every mutton preparation at sakhawat is off the bone and flavour bomb in your mouth. It is just amazing to taste the mutton recipes at this place, somehow the chef has learnt to keep the flavour of mutton intact while adding layers of spice and aromatic flavours. I have given it 4 starts just for the sole reason that there isint any decent seating space at the restaurant, and food of such quality must be eaten at an arms reach to the kitchen!
You’re godsent to the Awadhi cuisine
Godspeed!
I believe there chief and even staff was highly qualifiedThe food quality is nice and even not very expensive. For a plate of 4 Shami kabab 2 mughlai paratha and half mutton Biryani with a added beverage was Rs 340
Amazing is the word! If described in one line!
Had ample of dishes from them and all were spectacular.
Galoutis with parantha are a killer and one must not waste time at tunday but instead come here for delicious food!
I highly recommend them!
Tasty food... Chicken biryani, fish kebab are really awesum it is available onky on friday so do visit here on friday so dat u cn enjy d tasty fish kebab nd chicken biryani... Boti kebab is also yummmy.. pasanda kebab, kakori kebab are damm soft nd tasty...
Very nice food with a total different and refreshing taste of all Non-veg cuisines (Mutton & Chicken).... Must try. Please get them on Zomato portal. Thanks.
To all the reviews that had berated the joint for its higher prices this should be told that they use only the desi variety for their chicken preparation which is far tastier and of course costlier than the broiler chicken used at other food joints.
At Sakhawats each dish is prepared and cooked in its unique way in a separate gravy which is not done at most restaurants where they use two or at most three types of precooked gravy for all their preparation on menu...by throwing in mutton/ chicken /even paneer pieces in a frying pan along with the pre cooked gravy.
Nevertheless it is felt that over the last three years they have not been consistent in maintaining the taste as it used to be earlier.
I presume this might be due to the change in khansama very frequently.
All said and done I still frequent the joint in my quest for best awadhi cuisine.
I ordered kakori chicken kabab,Galawati chicken kaban,Mutton Khada masala,Mughlai Parantha,roomali roti.
All was nice and well cooked with good packaging.
You have been listening a lot and eating a lot of tunday and kababs everywhere throughout Lucknow, similar taste and similar texure; but if you want something with a difference, this is the place. Galauti Kababs carry a little crunch of ginger and garlic, elevating its tatse. They have a limited menu daily hence there are dishes which you will find on a specifc day of the week, like desi murg biryani or rogan josh or kaleji soya methi or chicken masala and so on. Try there mutton pasanda & boti kababs as well.
A must place to visit but hidden from lot of eyes because of its location and reachability.
Again please remember to carry your bottle of water, In India you rarely get the best food in fancy hotels.
Sakhawat is place known for its authentic Awadhi food, what I love about this place is it's Shami kabab, Boti Kababs and parathas. Have tried several other things here and nothing was Bad, but trust me their Shami and Boti kabab stands out probably as best in Lucknow..Do give it a try
Sakhawat Restaurant located in a lane of Qaiserbagh.
They serves authentic awadhi and mughlai cuisine.
Their speciality is mutton shami kabab which has truely an amazing delectable taste .
They have seasonal menu also .
This is a place to get the most delicious kababs ..fish kababs ..mutton biryani ..take a turn from oudh gym khana club n find this awesome place.. better than tundey dastwarkhwan.so called resterauts
One of the most unassuming places serving Awadhi food...known mostly to locals. Their shami and galawat kebabs are the best in the city...if i may stick out my neck....they are far better than the famed Tundays. Their Mutton pasanda is also super!!!!
what a hidden gem, the pasanda kebabs are a must try. The paranthas are also very well made and compliment the kebabs well. The mutton dishes especially mutton khada masala was great, very tender and melts in the mouth.
Some items are excellent but some needs more improvement. But overall the taste is good. Galawati and Shami kababs are awesome. You will not find mutton biryani easily over there.
I have been visiting this place since I was a child. The mutton biryani , the kebabs and the Rogan josh are my personal favourites. The staff is prompt and the service is great. Small place but a personal favourite
There is only place in Lucknow which can actually give you real and great cook food. The shop opens at 4 in the evening and closes at 11.
The food is slowly cooked and the meat is super tender. You can gave the tastiest and softest kebabs here. Best one I ever had. Mutton Biryani is a delight and a must have. Also try mutton pasanda and Boti kebabs.
Best place in Lucknow to have non veg, especially mutton items.
Tastiest food ever.
Ok, so first things first, Sakhawat is for hardcore non vegetarian enthusiasts. While 99% non veg lovers will visit a certain Kebab or Nihari outlet, the 1% who actually understand Mughlai cuisine go to Sakhawat. Not discrediting any other outlet, they're all amazing, but Sakhawat is SPECIAL.
There's this huge misconception about the mainstay kebabs served here. Those are Shaami Kebabs which are different from the otherwise popular Galawati Kebabs of Lucknow. Shaami Kebabs are a signature Sakhawat item and I haven't eaten better Shami Kebabs anywhere else, at least in this country.
Up next, you MUST order Pasanda Kebabs. If you think Galawati is melt in mouth, you need to try Sakhawat's Pasanda Kebabs which will instantly become your favorite. You can’t really review Sakhawat without trying their Pasanda Kebabs. These kebabs are different from the Pasanda Seekh kebabs that you get in Chowk area.
Then there's kakori kebabs that are again an authentic preparation. This is what makes Sakahwat so special, each item here is cooked to perfection. It's not commercialized even though average footfall has gone through the roof in the last couple of years or so.
They use Desi chicken for nearly all their chicken preparations. Butter chicken and chicken biryani are worth a try.
Sakhawat also prepares fish items. There's this one fish item that is seasonal and is prepared on order. Do ask for that, if you're in luck, you'll eat a Mughlai version of fish which you'll always crave for thereafter.
I can just go on about Sakhawat. We've been visiting since more than 15 years or so and the place never ceases to amaze us. The only problem is it isn't open all day long, opens at around 4-5 PM and if time and quantity permits, it stays open till around 10 PM.
I must mention that most people avoid Sakhawat due to the prices. Well, the way I see it is, you pay the price for the kind of food you get. You won’t get over-the-top oily hastily done food here because that’s not Sakhawat’s reputation. This one is for the halfway connoisseurs. You pay for the quality of the meat as well the preparations. The prices are more than reasonable if one can learn to distinguish between genuinely good food and just popular food.
Seating area is limited so takeaway is not a bad option. You can even pull up your car and order right from the vehicle. Food will be served inside the vehicle. Cool eh?
I went here during Ramadan for a quick evening snack. We ordered kebab Paratha which was different than what we usually have in other places in Lucknow. The kebab had minced onion in it which made the taste a little different, in a good way ofcourse. The place is quite small but the food is just delicious.
Will recommend this place if you want to have something different, something other than tunday kabab 😉😋
The place is small and a bit unorganized but the food quality for dishes is awesome. Shami kebabs, roasted chicken, mutton stew, all are supremely delicious.
If you are looking for taste and not ambience so this place is for you. They have limited menu but excel in taste. Try mutton biryani and mutton khada masala.
Best Mutton Biryani in town. This is an age old gem, hole in the wall type of restaurant. It Doesn’t care about its ambience and the sole focus is serving authentic awadh cuisine. It’s USP is its everyday changing menu.
Though it must be mentioned here that It’s more of a take away or eat in your car kind of joint. They really haven’t worked on making it a family joint but great food none the less!
This place is true oudhi food joint . Mutton Pasanda , Tamaatar Goli only on Thursday,Mutton korma are in must try list.Specialist in Galawati kebabs also.
Sakhawat has a great taste of mutton kebabs. Though it serves a limited varieties. The place is also very small and does not accommodate many. It is advisable to have a take away.
A cost place beside gymkhana club.
Positive:
Delicious food. Gelawati kebab, boti kebab, mutton biryani are best. Different taste from other awadhi restaurants.
On Sunday they serve heavenly 'kalegi methi'..must try.
Negatives:
1.hygiene
2.space is small.
3. Stuff runs out of stock soon(by8pm).
4.location, slight difficult to find.
Delicious boti kebab..unforgettable experience...go treat your taste buds. You should visit this place a little early say 8ish so that you don't miss out anything as they run out of some stuff quickly.
One of the best places to have awadhi cuisine in the city of nawabs. Their kebabs being the best with small pieces of fried onions in between giving them a really different twist and taste. The biryani is too delicious. All curries and rhe kormas are delicious and are prepared in a different style making Sakhawat a bit different from other Awadhi resturants. To conclude its the best place to have non veg and awadhi cuisine in Lucknow if you want it with a twist. P.S. reach there before 7.30 pm else you will be disappointed.

The place is a hidden paradise for non veg lovers.... Boti kebab and shami kebabs are the specialty of this place.... Do visit if you want to taste awadhi cuisine at its best....
This is underrated tiny place of heaven for Biryani and shami kabab. Holds the accurate taste of lucknowi biryani. Place is little untidy but food is worth trying. Service is average.
Only hardcore lucknowites would know this place.... Entrance is quite shady and a very small joint with barely 4 tables and seating capacity of 8-10 ppl.
The boti kabab I have had here is the best I have ever had.. They serve the best boti kababs in the world
Had visited once with my friend ..I tried kabab..The taste was good ... the taste of seekh kabab was tasty... Lucknow famous restaurant for kababs
An old place in the corner of the city with is underrated and has great food. The Boti kebab and the Shami kebab is a MUST, and the Mutton Biryani here is literally the best in the whole city. The place gives a really different vibe. And I would want to really visit it every time I get to Lucknow :)
Ambience is not good enough. But if you are a real foodie and love exploring then this place is a must visit. I am wondering why these guys haven't commercialized yet. Amazing taste they have got. Kinda addictive. Specially boti kebab. Damn!! I need to go again. One more thing to be kept in mind before visiting that the good items get finished quickly so make a pre booking if you are planning to visit after 8 pm.
The best boti kebab in the city of nawab. You just can't control your cravings for more once you have the taste of boti kebab. Do try khatti macchli also a killer dish of this joint.
Small place but the quality of food and taste is awesome. We tried chaap, boti kabab ,biriyani , Galouti kabab. All the dishes were made with extra care. Please ensure to reach before 7.30 pm otherwise Galouti kabab may get over
Any one aware of the old Lucknow must be aware of Sakhawat. The old heritage can be seen maintained at this place. Over the years it has not change, nor it's customers. Some people just cook for pleasure not for money, Sakhawat is one those very fews. Specializes in kebabs. True delight for kebab lovers.
This highly recommended hole-in-the-wall doesn't look like much, but the daily-changing kebabs (galawat et all) at this locals' haunt are the best we had – the smoky, perfectly crispy char makes the difference – and, despite appearances, it has won international accolades and doubles as an Awadh cooking institute. Also serves biryanis and several curries.
The present owner's great-grandfather was a brigadier in the British Army and a Nawab chef.
Heard a lot about this place serving delicious non veg dishes which is actually a paradise for non vegetarian s. It's located near gym khana club. The outlet is mediocre not a place to dine with family. The outlet starts in evening till night. There are many varieties in kebabs but less in curries. The place is famous for biryani. So decided to buy one mutton biryani pack along with chicken kalimirch. Mutton biryani was very ordinarily prepared. Rice quality was average n quantity very less as per the price coated. Mutton pieces was succulent n good. Not happy with biryani, coming to chicken kalimirch, the taste of gravy was unique with right amount of masala used. It was not overpowering with black pepper which I appreciate. Chicken pieces were equally good. Can't give final verdict yet to try few more dishes.
After much admiration finally managed to visit this small jewel. Loved the distinctive taste of their mutton kaleji...though have heard the pasanda (served on Wednesday and saturday) is much better. The shami kababs weren't that great but still decent.
Pricewise it is quite expensive considering the restaurant seating and all but the food is definitely worth it
Another Jewel in Lucknow... this joint serves some lovely kebabs. Though I was a bit disappointed with my last visit here... Felt it has gone down from what I have experienced years back as a young lad... I would still rate them as one of the best in Lucknow.
So a different set of dishes served on each day of the week.Far away from chaos and commotion of the city.Situated just behind Oudh Gym khana club.Khatti Machli and Pasanda Kebab are a must try.
Went to Sakhawat after ages and throughly enjoyed the food. Specially the Kali Mirch Chicken Good and the Boti Kabab was very different from other places.
By far the best Galwati kebab I've ever had....this lil joint is hidden in some galli near hazratganj... but don't go by the looks of it....there is no standard menu here.... unless the.... so every day the menu changes....claims to have a very rich list of achievements....one can read them displayed on the board outside the joint. Pay less money for tasty food.
The delicacies you get here are not easily available elsewhere.
Pasanda
Parcha
Among the many.
Galwati and shaami and parathe are so so.
One of the oldest street joints here.

lucknowi dastarkhwan is well served here and this place is a hub for non vegetarians searching for avadhi cuisines. It serves all avadhi delicacies with lot of najakat and nafasat. crave for shammi kebabs, gauloti kebabs, murg mussalams, shab deg.
Heavens paradise for non veg lovers. No other outlet can beat its taste. Kebabs just melts in d mouth and do try mutton khada masala.... Once a sakhawat lover alwz a sakhawat lover..;)
If there is a heaven for non veg, this place is the right place to visit, the kebabs here just melt in your mouth. Sakhawat started in a garage and managed to reach hearts of many throughout the world, if you're in Lucknow and you did not try their kebabs your trip is not fulfilled ;)
Yummiest kebabs in the city, although few people's knw abt this place bcz its costly in comparison of others bt kebabs r mouthwatering. Ambience is not so good bt yeah in case of taste it fails tundey also.
A small place that serves heavenly delicacies.
You will find innumerable places to stuff yourself near the Tulsi Cinema area but this one is a gem.
Top picks -
Galauti Kebab, Pasanda Kebab, Boti Kebab , Chicken khada masala and Khatti Machhali ( This one's a killer stuff )
My all time favourite place to have non-veg food ! Galwat kabebs & fish curry must try. What I like is they keep changing the menu on all days so it's good that u get to try new dishes.
Kebabs are d one of most tasties dishesh served in the restaurant. You ll love the galawati kebabs served by sakhawat restaurant.. Enjoy them with sheermal parathas.
Hey folks,
I'd like mention that there are only some places where you get really hygienic and lusciously yummy Muglai cuisine. I am gonna tell about some of my favourite places to satisfy quench of delicious food. If any one is trying to find authentic restaurant.
Shakhawat restaurant
Finally tasted the lucknow's best kebab. It was delicious and the mutton chap was too so delicious and yummy... But yes the prices are little bit higher than expected. But it is worth of it.. A must visiting place. If you are with ur family than it would be better to take away as there is not enough space.
Best kebabs in Lucknow.
Kebab roll and Mutton Chap is also mouth watering. Very suffocating place so take away would be a better option.
LOVED the mutton biryani, shammy kebabs, pasinda kebabs. Very aromatic and love the flavour of the food!!
Shekhawat's kababs are quite good in taste, their biryani is aromatic n well prepared. You can hangout here with friends but its not suitable for family. So I suggest you just get packed your meal n enjoy your dinner at home with shekhawat's preparations.
A must visit every time I come to Lucknow! Need I say more.
A little overpriced considering Lucknow standards.Average 225 per head. The Mutton Biryani is very good. Even the Chaap is brilliant. The galawat kebabs available here are very unique in whole of Lucknow. They make very limited stuff so make sure you go early by 9 pm. Its close to Gymhana club which is its major customer base. People who are not from Lucknow rarely go to this place which is otherwise much better than likes of Tunday.
Sakhawat is amongst the upcoming non-veg joints in Lucknow. Located close to gymkhana club in a narrow lane it attracts a fair bit of customers. The place is small so the sitting capacity is not much but you can have it outside the place.
They have a variety of kebabs on their menu. Their seekh kebab and fish kebab is just too good and romali roti is the evergreen combination with them. However, you may want to try the kebabs without romali roti as that would be equally good.
Authentic non veg joint. Less said more to enjoy. Real moughalai food specially kababs.
Food is Amazing and nice with humble sitting arrangement like Dhaba, however services needs to be pepped up.
But if you are a foody and have time then the restaurant will not disappoint you in terms of food quality. You can even order in your car and enjoy the food at your comfort.
This is the place you can visit to eat kebabs in lucknow, also let me tell you one secret their galawati kebabs are way better than tundays. This is one of the oldest shop in town and Faizan the owner work as the 3rd generation owner here.
Must trys, please do try them -
1) Kakori kebabs
2) Galawati kebab
3) Boti kebab
4) Fish kebabs ( served only on FRIDAY)
But there are some cons to it, the atmosphere and there service(sometimes) is not so good but the food is worth the trade for it.
Thank you 😊
Only a foodie can appreciate this place!! Mind blowing shammi kebab and biryani. Authentic Awadh taste. Boti kebab and mutton chop s a must try.
Finding this place may be a bit tricky since its in a lane but that shldnt stop u from visiting this place. Car can easily b parked and u can enjoy ur food sitting inside the car or inside the restaurant.
Ultimate 🥏 biryani with tasty kabab...
I had yesterday after a long time... But taste never changed...
Only parking issues and also note they accept only cash....
The best place in Lucknow for shami, kakori kebab. And the most amazing mutton biriyani ever. It's a hole in the wall but a must visit in Lucknow. And it is surprisingly real value for money
Absolute must must visit for kebab lovers 👍👍
Dining in space is quite restricted, but get the kebabs packed and take away for relishing later....the galouti, shaami, boti and kakori kebabs are my favorites every time I am here, since so many years !
Do not miss this place if you are in Lucknow !
This is a tiny shop located in a narrow alley of Lucknow, but holds the capability to transport you to heaven!
Kakori kebab melts in the mouth, but is available only on Wednesdays and Fridays. The authentic chicken Awadhi Biryani will truly mesmerize anybody, and is flavored to perfection!
The Pasanda kebab was truly a delight.
Anybody who wants the true Lucknow taste must visit this restaurant, it would be worth your while!
Hidden gem located deep in the mine 😆. I like fish so I eat that over here. My friends go ga ga about their shami kabab, galawat & biryani. It’s a smallish old store, nothing fancy. Don’t go there if you are too posh 🥺, pure-non-veg connoisseurs only
Has to be the best kakori kabab in the country today. The taste is sublime.
Hidden gem, while tourists and amateur foodies rush to Tunday, true non vegetarian food lovers rush to Sakhawat. You must know how to appreciate well prepared Mughali delicacies in order to make the most of Sakhawat.
There is so much you can eat here and thus so much to write about. MUST TRY: Pasanda Kebabs (you'll forget galawati!), Kakori Kebabs, Shami Kebabs, Boti Kebab, Desi Butter Chicken, Biryani, and Roasted Chicken. If I had to name two items that you must try I'd nominate Pasanda Kebabs and Shami Kebabs.
You can literally order anything here and you won't be disappointed. Sakhawat is priced higher than others for a reason. And that reason is quality and consistency. The food will totally knock you over.
This one should remain hidden so that commercialization doesn't affect it like it has affected Tunday and others. Love this place!
It was a wonderful place and has a great quality food. The place has won many awards throughout India and is even popular with celebrities. The food quality is nice and even not very expensive. For a plate of 4 Shami kabab 2 mughlai paratha and half mutton Biryani with a added beverage was Rs 350. Also met the "ilu ilu actor Mr Vivek mushran" here was also here for the taste.
Pasanda, Shaami, Gawlauti, Kakori, Boti Kebab along with Chicken Biryani are of very High quality taste!
Rice in biryani are aromatic, flavoured, subtle taste and perfectly cooked desi chicken!
One of the best outlets in Lucknow!
