Le Yogi is one of the BEST places in Mahabs! Went to Bschool near mahabs, so I'd have eaten at Le Yogi countless times! Their food is so good! Their lasagna and sizzlers are the absolute best in mahabs.So cheesy and delicious. The only good place for actual good pizzas as well. I wouldn't recommend the seafood here though. The service is great too; they are super friendly and responsive. Food is brought quick too. Lastly, the whole vibe of Le Yogi is really nice. It's peaceful and calm and a perfect place to just chill. I've had some lovely times there and I'm definitely going to miss it. The next time I go to mahabs, definitely eating here!

This is an amazing place to wind down and hang out with friends. They have a rustic ambience with low set seating. This place has board games like Jenga to while away your time with food.
The food part is also good with fresh sea food and a reasonable variety on the menu.
We usually go to another restaurant but since that was being renovated, we decided to drop into Le Yogi. The ambience was very relaxed and eclectic. The menu was pretty extensive and they also took requests. We started off with momos and a chicken salad. Both were good. Then we ordered pasta, prawns Chettinad style, white rice and fish curry. Son loved the pasta and wife and I dug into the fish curry. Fish pieces were well cooked and sizable. We returned eagerly for sampling their sizzlers a few weeks later but they were closed for Bakrid. Planning on visiting again.

Pleasing and peaceful ambience showering the tibetan feeling around you.. Every food has a Nepalese and Tibetan flavor which shows their identity.. Had Chicken Lasagna which was well done and a super cheesy experience. Chowmein was cooked perfectly. A must try place for all foodies who wanna have a different cultured experience

For dessert, we had a Nutella crepe.
We ordered a hot chocolate and chocolate milkshake. While both were good, I now regret going for hot over cold (no pun intended).

Among all the restaurants in the eat street of mahabalipuram, this stand unique by the homely feel, calm lights and warm music. The service was quite late but you didn't actually feel bored up. especially food stands out in the taste. Good to try all sea platters. They have all board games and interesting games as well. This will be my one of the favorite here in this beach city

Loved the ambience of the place, its so comfortable and beautiful with the retro songs playing in the background. A place to relax in weekends, also because there is a beach near by. The sauce of the fish was delicious.
Cannot get over this place! That quiet, simple, clean restaurant! It doesn't offer you too many fancy seating arrangements. Let's you sit on the floor, enjoy your meal/drinks/games. The music is too rejuvenating. You will never get bored of this place, no matter who you are with. It's a must visit! Service on point, music on point, ambience on point, crowd on point! There's nothing more you can ask for in a place 100 metres away from the beach.

If you are around the Shore temple in Mahabalipuram then this is a place to be at its a cozy lil place approximately 700 m from the temple and the menu is wide spread..Pizza, pasta indian,chinese..! The food is freshly made so yes it does take time but they have board and card games and some books along with good music to give you company...And when the food arrives it's worth the wait! We ordered sweet lime juice and mango milkshake (don't expect it to be yellow like the one with preservatives) both were fresh and natural... And Veg Thali, Chicken Thali and Jain thali (yep they serve jain)!!
The Dhal is so very ghar ka and yumm! It was the highlight... The chicken was yummy too but if u are someone who dsnt eat a lot of spice don't forget to mention to make the chicken low on spice.. overall it was the perfect meal to end our trip!!

This place has a cool laid-back vibe to it. Everything we ordered was yummy...cheese balls, chicken thukpa soup, margherita pizza, chicken paprika, butter garlic calamari and fried prawns. Everything was tasty, except thukpa was average. Friendly service from the owners/managers but something felt fake about it. Overall a must try.
I have been living in Mahabalipuram for a year now and this is my go to place for morning breakfast after the sun rise attempts. Their fresh juices are top notch, I especially like the orange. They specialize in French cuisine. Amazing crepe, must try the Nutella and also banana and honey varieties. Their salted crepes are also tempting, the one with herbs and eggs. You can give the pasta a miss. Pizzas are average.
Also you shouldn't miss their special cappuccino.

Ambiance and staff are very good. Noodles is good but as per the price quantity was not enough. In sizzler, we expected boneless chicken but it was not and also chicken was very chewy... So because of food quality I am giving 3.5.

The place is racist. Prefers fair skinned customers over Indians. Also smoking is openly allowed in this terrace shack. We however persisted and had dinner here. The place is neat and clean- much more than you would expect. And found food to be outstanding. Despite the structural flaws and uninviting owners we would recommend you have dinner here. A night you will not forget.
I had my first breakfast of 2018 in here and I'm hoping every other breakfast this year is as great as my one at Yogi. Between the 2 of us, we had a Museli bowl with freshly cut fruits, yogurt & honey , a plate of complete omlette and 2 filter coffees. Cured our hangover right and filled us just right.
If you have been to Dharamshala, you are sure to get nostalgic because this place instantly transports you to the hills. The floor seating, red decor, dalai lama pictures, a traveller cafe vibe, travel books and most importantly the kind of food they serve. Definitely going back someday to try their lunch.

Located in the heart of the city, the place offers a good ambiance, good food and good music. For us budget travelers, it seemed to be a little over budget. Altough they seemed to a lot of returning foreign clientele.
My personal favorite in Mahabs. The bestest part is the ambience. Soooo calm and beautiful! Masala Tawa prawns, cappuccino, honey banana crape,nutella banana crape are personal favorite. Pizaaa not good! Chicken Lasagna was okayy! Too much tomatoes spoilt the taste could have been better. And yusss! Greatt hospitality. Feels like home :) So 4.5 for that.
Would have given 4.5 rating if not for the dirty bin just at the entrance. It kinda smelled till we went up to first floor restaurant. It was off putting. But I was determined n so was my husband.
We were a huge group, my parents n in laws as well. Four vegetarians n 4 non vegetarians. Amazing food on both counts.

They had nice cold beverages, just perfect for a hot Sunday afternoon. Mix it with a platter of creamy prawns, fried calamari and grilled fish, it is a match made for heaven in heaven, and near a beach! Friendly staff. Great portions, some food without cream in preparation can be too spicy. Tell them upfront if you don't want too much spice.
Walked into this place after a lovely stroll on the beach, attracted by the name and the subdued buy cheerful lighting. We had the fish in Tawa masala and chicken in red yogi sauce. Both delicious, both memorable!

Calm place. Started with tomato soup. I thought it would be the usual soup made with mix. But I guess the one we got was gourmet, made fresh. Tasted good too. Momo plate was sumptuous and good. For the main course we had smoked tofu with vegetables and rice. The curry could have been a bit curryish given the fact that it was ordered with rice. Nevertheless was ok. Nice place to hangout and have a bite.
Simply one of the best garlic butter fish I have had so far. The fish was fresh, catch of the day as promised, and melted in the mouth. The rice was fragrant and soft.

To start with is the tomato cream soup. It’s one of the most delicious soups we have ever had with an excellent aroma of the spices.
In the main course egg fried rice is a must try, again it’s not the regular recipe which you find in most of the other restaurants.
French fries here are a bliss, way par from any regular place.
Finally and most importantly, chicken starters and main course are again really good.
Ambience wise, it’s a really nice and cozy place with a lot of books which make a good read, a few games and cards to have a good time.
As there is no air conditioning, it’s best to visit this place when the weather is a little pleasant, that would leave with great memories at this place.

Because all those continental dishes they serve are made from locally available economic ingredients. If you are here, you may need to keep your expectation on the taste on the lower end so that you won't get disappointed).
Pizza is average, taste like any other home made outlet and decent for the locality it is situated.

However it's an ideal place to sit down on the floor at any time of the day/evening with a Chilled beer which is always asked for more.

Went here after reading the reviews on Zomato and was definitely not disappointed! We tried the coconut fish in South Indian style. It was a very different kinda masala and was not too spicy although it says so on the menu. It was a delicious coconut based masala and was served with boiled veggies on the side. We literally wiped out off the plate. The squid in Indian style and prawn fry had the same masala base,but was crunchy and fresh. The prawn biryani was a little oily, but tasted different from the usual style of biryani s that you d expect in tamilnadu. It tasted real good though. The fish curry too was quite tangy and we had a hearty meal at reasonable rates.
The only grouse was that they offered beer, which of course is not on the menu and we were charged 350 for a bottle of kf which was a complete rip off. They should definitely inform the customers that they're beer comes at a real premium!
Would definitely recommend this place for the food and the hippie vibe.

One of the best restaurants in Mahabalipuram. It's has a very good seating arrangement with the high and the low tables. The place is beautiful lit in the evenings. Visited this place on a Saturday evening and it was really crowded. We waited for 10 minutes for a table. They have a variety of board games available. Food is really good and decently priced. We ordered prawn noodles which was delicious! The chicken paprika tasted good as well! :) overall had an amazing experience! Definitely visiting it again ❤️
A European themed eatery in Mahabs. It has beautiful seating arrangements. Check the images. The place is not too crowded even in weekends which is an added advantage. We ordered calamari with pepper and garlic, chocolate shake, scrambled egg, and some other chicken dish. The calamari and the chicken dish is fantastic. Any shake is best to avoid because they screwed it up. The egg lacked seasoning and spice which was later compensated with pepper, salt, paprika etc. A nice place for a weekend getaway. Loved the ambience and you can actually have a good time chatting with your friends. They serve beer and it's a open roof restaurant so smoking is allowed.
No matter how much you research about rooftop cafes in Mahabs, you'd eventually narrow down to either Le Yogi, or Bob Marley Cafe.
Frequented and loved by foreigners and locals alike, Le Yogi is a place where one could stretch their legs (quite literally), enjoy a cold one, and bite into a traditional, widespread continental menu.
The dimly lit interiors mixed with light Latin music was the best aesthetic foreplay one could have.
Le Yogi was the only rooftop I could find Beef dishes in, especially Lasagne that you mostly won't get elsewhere.

A couple friends and I stumbled into this joint one Sunday morning after traipsing around the beach and shore temple. The place looked a little tacky on the outside but we took the flight of stairs up. The decor and ambience at Le Yogi is a mishmash of Hindu, Bhuddist and Japanese elements. A Buddha statue sits upon one of the sills while a randomly placed Krishna poster rests on the adjacent wall. We were very taken by the low tables and cushions along two of the walls and we settled in.
We sat at Le yogi for about 2.5 hours, post which we roamed around mahabalipuram for a while. Following our expedition under the scorching sun we decided to head back again to Le Yogi, where we spent another couple hours. It's safe to say that this trip of ours spiraled around this joint.
We order grilled calamari in garlic and ginger sauce. It tasted great with a drizzle of lemon, and the portion is HUGE! Two of us struggled to finish it.
We had a portion each of the tomato-cheese-egg-crepe(which was good), vegetable sandwich, Nutella crepe, lemon-sugar-crepe, vegetable lasagna, orange juice, and honey-lemon-ginger tea. I suppose there was a change in chefs between our two visits because the crepes we ordered the second time were very poorly made and was swathed in oil. The lasagna was incredibly salty and we had to have them re-prep our order.
The place is ideal to lounge around. They have several board games, jenga and multiple decks of cards. In one corner rests a tall shelf piled with books. It isn't too expensive and there's a wide range of food to choose from. The service was a little slow but they were really friendly and pleasant.

The best foodie place at Mahabalipuram without a shred of doubt. Call it eccentric or irreverent, both being probably true, this joint is a genius foremost.
The narrowest ghetto-ish stairway leads to a cosy place with asymmetric seating completely oblivious of such a thing called personal space. Time, in all probability, also pauses as no one seems to bother to leave having finished their meal. But then, there is value in not finishing as one keeps looping between the perfectly grilled catch from the bay to the fried calamaris that crumble and melt and then to the dizzy fire that melts banana into caramel; and oh the lemon tart which somehow stays in an altogether different state of matter between solid and gaseous. The place calls itself Franco-Indian; don't know about that but the yoga of the Yogi is strong.
Must try this place, awesome food and service, it's a rooftop restaurant with very soothing music I am in love with this place. Just go for it..

Of all the recommended restaurants ( Santana's , Moonrakers) in Mahabs, this one was my favourite. Our first couple of days we were disappointed at both the above mentioned restaurants and happened to take a change with Le Yogi - we were thrilled to have some good food after all. The place by itself had very laid back, relaxing vibes - footwear isn't allowed inside as they have floor seating as well as regular seating.
Our first meal we ordered the Masala fried prawns and Fish Curry - Rice. We loved both - my only issue being that we were served shrimp, i would have preferred a larger variety like the tiger or jumbo but the owner told me they would be more expensive - If money is not an issue , i should have been given the choice. Anyways, i think i was there just when they were closing and they had run out of the larger variety, so no biggie - we still enjoyed the meal.
The next day we came by again - This time we asked for the catch of the day and my eyes couldn't get off this beautiful red snapper. So ordered the Whole snapper - South Indian Style. The menu said spicy, however i didn't find a hint of spice. For a minute i felt they had made something else. However, the flavors were brilliant. The fish was cooked beautifully, absolute winner this one.
We also ordered the Fish curry rice once again and also the Calamari - Yogi Pepper & Garlic. This one was outstanding as well. The calamari was cooked beautifully, almost melt in mouth and the white creamy sauce was absolutely stunning. Loved it !
Washed all this down with beers and this was a meal well deserved after all the disappointments around town. Definitely coming back here on our next visit. 😊

Another over hyped cafe in the Mahabs area, with the exception that the food isn't a disaster as is in most other places. The reason I say over hyped is because I heard alot of people in the area recommend this place like it was the best but honestly it is just about average when compared to the newer places that have opened up in the area.
The ambience is probably the best thing about this place after the service. It's got the setup of a shack and since it's situated on the first floor and very close to the sea, you get to enjoy the lovely sea breeze. Great place to hang out with friends provided you keep your expectations about cleanliness realistic. Given the area is mahabs, you might share your space with a few insects and rodents, who generally don't trouble you.
Visited this place one late evening for some drinks considering they serve beer, but to my misfortune they only served British empire. I guess that is the standard beer in the area but given the hype of Le Yogi, I thot I'd be able to find some better stuff. To accompany it, we ordered the chilly chicken which was done well and spiced nicely. After a couple of British empires, I needed some sugar to improve the taste on my tastebuds and hence I ended up ordering the banana nutella crepe. It wasn't quite what I would expect from a crepe as it was a bit tough and stringy for some reason. The servings of banana and b were generous, but since the crepe itself was tough, I couldn't quite enjoy it. Prices at this place are about the average you would pay in Mahabs, but definelty much better and there is greater value for money if I were to pitch this place against its closest over hyped competitor - Moonrakers.
The service is the best as the staff are very courteous and helpful. There have been a couple of times we just sat there without ordering anything for a long time and no one asked us to leave or any such thing.
Overall I give this place a 3.5 just because of the service. I just wish this place gets rid of those little insects and I probably would rate it higher since the food here is also decent.
I've been coming to Mahabs for the last 6 years regularly for weekend drives. Never been to Le Yogi once. Heard about the place a lot of times but we end up at Moonrakers mostly due to the Parking space. This time me and my friend were in Mahabs again during Diwali eve. We knew for a fact that everyone would be out of town.
We found a nice parking spot right in front of the restaurant and headed off to Le Yogi for the first time. Have to say, it was totally a different experience. it had a nice quaint feel to it. I kinda liked the relaxed and lazy ambience.
We sat down for our British Empires and ordered ourselves a Fish Fry, Chilly Chicken & some fries to go with it for the afternoon. Spent a couple of hours lounging around there then to head off to the beach when the sun went down.
Had a fantastic dinner here last weekend. The barbecue chicken was smokey and juicy, the rice was soft and gravy very tasty. Soup was a letdown, though. What is outstanding is their service. They are very warm, ever smiling and will put the star hotels staff to a shame

My friend has come from Australia, so a long drive was always on cards. Destination - Mahabs.
Initially planned at Santana but due to some ruckus, just took away food parcels. So settled in this hut covered high rated French Cafe just for short eats.
Ambience wise nothing was special but the crowd which is a combination of Foreigners and Chennai people makes it note-worthy.
COLD COFFEE and HOT COFFEE (filter wasnt available) to start of with was really bad with too much of milk and no taste of coffee whatsoever.
CHILLI POTATOES was a better starter that too when had with BE BEER. Crispy, salty and spicy it was cooked properly.
VEG SIZZLER was decent with fries taking over the priority while the main portion with Vegetables even though good, didn't really suit us.
Surprisingly there were no Non Veg in our orders because of the time delay. The bill was 760 which was fine.
Overall - Le Yogi is a perfect place to spend time to drink, smoke etc in outdoor area but when going just for the food, it is below par when compared to the ones near.
Came here after an exhausting bike ride under the sun. This place has a very chilled out vibe and relaxed atmosphere. The food is not extraordinary, but I liked the service here. One can sit here for a long time!
We went here for breakfast with a bad headache after a crazy drunk night. They had cushions on the floor so you could seat yourself. The place looked very pleasant. The guy there was extremely polite and friendly.
We ordered toast with butter and Jam, toast with nutella , mixed fruit and nutella crepe, a complete omelette, scrambled eggs with cheese and onion and masala chai.
Both the toasts were decent. Good amount of butter, Jam and nutella. The menu says sesame brown bread, but you'll get white bread if you ask for it.
The crepe was generous and delicious. It could have been a little softer anyway.

This is one good place to chill out in Mahabs... Again I loved the sea foods, Momos and their desserts... You will find low tables with mattresses over the floor.... They serve beer too.. A must try place I would say... for a totally different kind of experience by the sea view....!!!
A nice place located in mahabalipuram. Ambience is cool. You have traditional Indian way of sitting. Always populated. Food is above average but not fantastic. In mahabs a place to try for sure.

Happened to be in Mamallapuram today around lunch time and a zomato search lead me to this spot. This place is in othavadai street a little further after the moonrakers restaurant.It was almost three p.m but the place was busy. The setup was kinda cozy and there was a small bookshelf filled with books in a corner . The place has a thatched roof and the heat from the humid sea can make you uncomfortable sometimes. There was only one person to take orders and supply food to the tables. After waiting for like 15 min at the table , the person finally showed up to take orders. We quickly ordered our dishes but had to wait again. Even walked up to the counter to check if the food is ready and the person says that he did not want to confuse the cooks with multiple orders at the same time hence the delay 😂. At last after 30 minutes food arrived.
Orders :
Chappatis - Had to order since they did not have rotis, but the chappatis were very good. Much bigger in size than the usual ones served. coming straight from the tawa, hot and very soft.
Fish gravy - Fish was fresh and cooked soft. Spice level excellent and consistency bang on. loved the texture and taste .the serving portion was good too.
Veg sizzler - served with French fries(?), boiled vegetables and mashed potatoes cooked in white pasta sauce I guess. The fries weren't up to the mark and tasted raw at places ( maybe straight for the freezer to the deep fry pan.). But the veggies compensated for the fries.
Chicken biriyani - Decent taste , good quantity , and chicken pieces were cooked well. But felt like made from instant biriyani mix. Anyways no complaints on this one. Served with raitha and cucumber pieces.
Chicken momos - This actually was the first order. But was served alongside the biriyani . We were served freshly steamed eight momo pieces on a plate. The chicken stuffing was good but with there was an extra dash of vinegar which stood out. The dip served alongside was very Okish.
Setting aside the minor hiccups in service and the heat wave , I would say this place is worth the food experience. Pricing is a bit premium but the location of the restaurant justifies it .The place also serves cold beer. Our total bill came to Rs 1065 for three persons.
Was a very delightful experience..... To begin with the ambience is very relaxing and gives us a feeling of relaxation and allows us to have a good conversation with our friends... The servings are ample and filling and the taste is also very good ..... The people are also very responsive and humble ..... would suggest people to visit in the evening as there is a open roof top were there is no AC facility available but would be great on a cool day @
While travelling back to chennai from Pondicherry spotted this place for north Indian cuisine.
The location of the hotel is near the beach..google maps gives you the exact location
Ambience.. Well..when I say the hotel from the outside..I was like 'what o_O' ..but later when I went to the first floor...loved it!!
It had lanterns..n Buddha n Ganesh statue..n also some bonsai plants and you could also sit down if you want!! N I did prefer it ^_^
Food- As we were travelling back to chennai..we wanted to keep it light..

Chili panner- one of the best panneer I tasted !! They were so soft..n the spicy level was epic!!
Veg fried rice- it had a flavour of more spice n less salt..but we still liked it after adding some tomato ketchup to it.
Will definitely visit again when ever I come to mahabs ^_^

They brought the authentic taste of the Himalayas far down south, by the Bay of Bengal... Lovely food, lovely ambiance and lovelier host.
The menu is the most elaborated one we found here in the neighbourhood.
Le Yogi is a pretty Roof top restaurant that has a beautiful and relaxing ambience. It has a touch of the south of France as I have lived in that region. It has a very pretty hanging garden around the window openings. Attention is given to harmony with nature and aesthetics around the restaurant. Seating options are on the table and the floor, which pleasantly surprised me. Shoes are removed at the entrance. I appreciated the eastern hygiene code. A very different kind of restaurant that gives a very pleasant and unique dining experience.
It has a wide variety of sea food choices and a variety of cuisine options. Their spicy Fried fish with chips and veggies was excellent! They serve large portions that really fill you up. The service was very homely and the host was very caring and friendly. The server too was very courteous and provided us with excellent service. I plan to return to this place on my next visit to Mahabalipuram.
A calm and pretty good spot on the roof top to hang out with your buddy gang!! The food is extraordinary and I would say its absolutely taste worthy & penny worthy.
I still can't get out of that creamy chicken pasta. The quantity is satisfiable too❤
This place allows smoking & liquor consumption. So, not recommended if you go as a family. Best recommended to sit down & chit chat with friends!
Amazing sea food, specifically the coconut fish gravy. Decent taste of North Indian food as well. Superb ambience and service. There are natural plants decorated all over and comfy sitting area on the floor. We were served by Ganesh who was well behaved and thoughtful. He actually played some of our favourite music tracks without even requesting. A long tiring day closed on a great note. A must visit place with family. Attaching some pics from my travel album

A very calm and serene space. Opened in 2004. 4 days prior to the tsunami. Has a lot of artwork and history in the walls. Has good food options and also a small collection of books to read. moderately priced. Pleasant service and smoking is also allowed

Must visit... food is very good and fresh. After long time i have found place where i ate food according to my test. They have great menu veg/nonveg both. You test the actual food instead of loads of spice. Place is very clean. They have dine table as well as table to sit down. Overall great place to eat
What a lovely place to dine! I had visited in last Christmas for a family vacation, loved the ambience and the seating options..the food they serve is absolutely lip smacking. Located pretty close to the beach!
Loved the laid-back ambience from the French lady who runs this place. Tasty food, although expensive. Loved the Golden Brown calamari and Prawns curry in coconut milk.
The whole Mahabalipuram area sells high price food items due to the tourist place label.
Worth repeating and recommended.
Food is very fresh and SO good!! A great rooftop and the music was just the right vibe for our dinner. We ordered a menu item based on the waiter’s recommendation and it was very tasteful. We even stayed afterwards for an evening tea on the pillow seats. Highly recommend
2 veg thalis were really good, presented more in a 'western' way. Nice ambience, good music and live musicians came while we were there!
Great place to have lunch or dinner. Interior is great. The sitting arrangement is great too. You can comfortable sit on the floor as well, they have kept some nice cushions. Its quite comfortable. Best is the hospitality, everyone is so welcoming and warm. They even not charged for some food which took quite long to serve. They also took all our small changes requirement for food as well. I would recommend it for everyone.
