We went there as a family for dinner with reservation. We looked into the a la carte and are not too much excited about the options. It's regular breads, salads, south /north indian and some desserts. Probably because there were a lot of non-indians among the crowd they preferred to serve them indian dinner, so we opted out, not because we don't like it there, but because we were in a different taste in the tongue :D
The a la carte menu is pretty wide spread starting from continental, indian, chinese, thai, japanese and stopped there. I don't know if there was any Hawaiian because that must be the next stop, lol. We eat veg and we loved the dishes. We ordered dimsum, veg platter (tikki, continental boiled and marinated etc.) Overall the experience in great. We loved the ambience, quietness, the waters next to the table and the dim lighting. It's perfect, slowed us down from a busy day and also the breeze is awesome. If you are sitting outdoors in the restuarant don't forget to notice the extra stars in the sky that you won't see from chennai anyways :D. It's worth a try and value for money if you have this zomato gold.

We had already visited this restaurant and once again we visited for Republic day brunch. They had enormous variety on American & Asian cuisine. Deserts were on top... Live counter for kheema and brain was also top notch. Sohel assisted us well in the restaurant..
One of the best place to unwind yourself, amazing view with amazing food this is the place to be if you are looking for an amazing experience . We ordered prawns & pasta both were very good. Even portion size was also decent.
The melting pot is located in the Intercontinental resort, famously known for its exposed concrete walls and the beautiful corridor spaces. I visited the place both on a weekday as well as the weekend and both the times the ambience has been simply soothing and calm , with and without crowd. The food is just piquant . The delectable and appetizing flavours leave you tempting for more. I just feel the appetizers serving is little less in portion , but the main course and the rest serves well for 4 people a portion.The chefs are really sweet and patient to hear your suggestions and understand if you have any problem with the dishes personally. The outdoor sitting space is simply tranquil with the beautiful view . A definitely must visit place.

Very nice ambience! The chef was very polite to explain that their chicken, beef and mutton are completely halal and had told the vessels and utensils are separate for each.
Loved the tenderloin burger and Ravioli which was made with olive oil! Cooked very well and proper. Not too huge on the price for the place.

A very beautiful and peaceful place. Took a friend there on his birthday and when I booked a table there I had mentioned it would be nice to have a small cake surprise. And they did not let my expectations down! Very polite service, we loved our time there.
The food was also great leaving us with a happy tummy :)

We're first greeted by the restaurant staff who got us seated and made us comfortable. Then, upon knowing our preference of Jain food, he called for the chef to have a quick chat with us. The chef was extremely friendly and polite. He understood our requirements of having Jain Chinese food, which were 0% spicy. He gave us the options which could be prepared in Jain and we selected Hakka noodles and Baby corn Manchurian.
Since the Chinese kitchen was an open, live counter, we saw that our food was prepared fresh, right from scratch, with every ingredient coming out of their storage area. That impressed us right away. Within a few minutes, our piping hot food was served and trust me when I say, it was one of the best Jain preparation of Hakka noodles and baby corn manchurian.
It was exactly as per our needs. 0% spicy, fresh and extremely tasty. We're so smitten by the food that after finishing this, we ordered by sweet corn soup, obviously Jain. This is the first time I believe that I ever had soup after eating the main course. As expected, the soup was also amazing and we personally went to the chef to thank him for the food.
All this while, the manager of the restaurant was around and we struck up a nice conversation with him. He was very friendly and made sure that we felt very comfortable and never had a single dull moment during the whole time of the dinner.
A must visit resort and restaurant and don't forget to have Chinese, in our style and preference.
Amazing Malaysian cuisine served with lavish style. Small suggestion would be listen to customer suggestion will ordering. Also, if you love private beaches must pay a visit this place.
One of my favorite place here Italian and Chinese food are awesome no one can make like them. Pasta and noodles were so yummy ..little expensive but great place so beautifully crafted and make a nice place.

For a posh five star restaurant attached to a resort, the expectation was that of a bland mundane platter, going by stereotypes but boy was I taken by surprise. Very few authentic South Indian restaurants can prepare a Pongal to the levels of perfection displayed at Intercontinental! Amazing variety, brilliant quality and really courteous staff. Highly highly recommend. Kudos to the team.
Awesome place and service. Staffs are so polite and attentive. We are 4 pax gone for lunch and I opted for alacarte. Chicken friend rice and Tikka was awesome. Chicken Briyani was Okay kind just like rice mixed with masala and quantity is Ok for 1 person. Mutton masala taste was super but with very less pieces along with potato. Ambience is really good for all age groups.

We went for the buffet that is served at lunch time. The food was tasty but the spread was limited. They have very few starters which were mostly salads and bread. I loved their malai methi paneer which was yum!! Dessert was again very limited but tasty of course.
I have been to multiple fine dining restaurants in Bangalore, hence the comparison on quality and quantity. But around Chennai, I think this place is really good. A must visit.
An exquisite resort tucked away from the city,it's a perfect get-away for the weekend. The ambience is too good and a walk through the resort and the beach is just what you need to relax.
The service is as good as expected from a star hotel. We ordered the prawn tempura with soya sauce and wasabi which has got to be my favorite here. You have to try eating the prawn first and the next bite, you dip it in the soya sauce to appreciate it's flavor (as suggested by our waiter). We also ordered the cast iron cooked baby bass and classic chicken roast. The roast was a bit overcooked for us.

What can be said about this place a perfect place for Asian food and your love towards food... Rissotto was top of town... Never had such a lovely one... And green curry Thai dish with Jasmine rice just blew away our mind.... On a sweet note when we where completely full chef served us fig Honey almond ice cream and that was real awesome which was on the house... Highly recommended place...

Awesome ambience, average food, sloppy service. We were here during the long weekend. I made a reservation and the only reason I went here is to sit by the lily pond. However, the manager wanted us to sit squinting at a table out in the sun. The other empty table was reserved but no one ever sat there 😐 I must mention though they moved the table to an area that had shade. Also the food took a long time and I found it ordinary...
It was a long weekend and we decided to have lunch at some nice place. I decided on the melting pot after I saw some pictures of the lily pond. This place is beautiful, quiet and magical ( not sure if that applies to summers) we made a reservation in advance. We were disappointed to find out that they had one table in shade that was reserved one table with umbrella that was occupied. There one table out in the sun and the manager wanted us to take that. Basically, he wanted us to sit there squinting through out our lunch , which by the way took a loooong time to serve.... when we decided to not eat here, they moved the empty table to the shaded area. We ordered and waited. I did not mind waiting , because I loved the place. Food wasn’t extraordinary, however I still feel it was worth a visit...

A fine dine restaurant located in Intercontinental Mahabalipuram, it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. A seating capacity of around 100 people makes it very spacious. The tables are quite big and the cutlery is good too. I had been here for high tea and breakfast buffet and it didn't disappoint me at all.
In High tea, we were served some fresh coffee, tea, in house chocolate and butter cookies and upon request we also received a fried pudi Idli which was the highlight of the evening. Perfect crispness along with some amazing spices added to the idli pieces was so delicious. A special mention of the head chef Mr. Anup as this dish was served upon request and the kind hospitality received was just fantastic!

A king sized platter indeed! Thanks to chef Anup once again for this sweet surprise. Apart from this, we also got special Pancakes, a pizza dosa, Italian idlis, and a fruity waffle treat which were amazing and tasty. The staff here very courteous and friendly. Easily the best and lavish breakfast I've had in a restaurant till now. Will never forget this experience here at the Melting pot, Intercontinental Mahabalipuram.

First impressions were that the well presented fish was fresh and the mango puree really helps balance the acidity of the dish.
Spaghetti pasta with cheese sauce, chicken and mushrooms. This was made on request. Loaded with cheese, this is guaranteed to fill your tummies.
Prices are definitely on the premium side making it a fancy date night place.

A place I'd recommend especially for breakfasts! There is something for everyone - cereals, juices , donuts , pancakes, waffles and the list goes on. I love the fact that there are these live counters where you can ask them to make you a certain dish in your preferred way. Like I ask them to make pan sautéd basa fish with less oil. Such soft yet juicy fish! And I kept ordering it several times of course!!

Stayed at this resort for couple of nights this month. A refreshing property in the Mahabalipuram stretch. Had breakfast at this restaurant and also one dinners. Breakfast is pretty good - frankly the usual lux restaurant stuff with very polite staff who do make every effort to make you feel comfortable and enjoy your meal.
Dinner was a group affair with my colleagues. Food was good and the chef tried his best to provide us very good North Indian dishes. Initially it was to be a buffet, but due to probably low occupancy, they decided to not prepare a buffet. It was a disappointment and the chef recognised it and as a compensation he prepared a complimentary dessert platter for us. Overall good experience.
An excellent restaurant by the water. The dinner buffet had a good spread. In parallel we tried a few a la carte dishes. The Duo of Rasam soup is an excellent appetiser with a combination of two different soups - pineapple and tomato. Ask for this dish. It’s worth.
Try the Caramel Gateua for the dessert.
Great place with a great line of items in menu card. We ordered a pasta and a sandwich! We loved the pasta! It was too good! Even the sandwich was great! I was a bit disappointed with the dinner buffet menu as it had very less options for a non vegetarian but the breakfast menu was quite good again. Athough it might be a bit heavy on your pockets, but it’s a must try place
We had gone for a long drive to Mahabalipuram and while coming back we chose this restaurant on the way since the Zomato rating was 4.5.
Awesome Ambience. We sat outside near the pool where we felt quite peaceful.
We ordered for a chilled green peas and buttermilk soup. They took little time so they offered us some kind of bread (three ppl came and checked whether we liked the bread and service, I was wondering whether they were testing something on us!).
It was a good 15 minutes before a waiter came and said that people tend to not like the soup so he suggested us to have fried cauliflower soup. I was reluctant to have that so they said it's quite good and if we don't like it they will give us tomato soup instead. It turned to be quite good.
In main course we had naan, kulcha and Mewe and Mawa ka kofta and Chicken biriyani.
Biriyani was okay. Naan, Kulcha and Kofta was really good.
Service was quite good. To top it they offered us complimentary desserts which were all quite yummy!
Went there for spending my Hubby's birthday eveving. Arranged surprise birthday cake and all. They organised it perfectly. The food was delicious and the fruitshakes as well. Complementary bread with butter was so finger licking yummy. There is nothing negative to be told of while reviewing except the tax part. Other than that, this deserves 5 stars. The cake was too cool. The baking team had done their best. Ambience is calm with dim lightings and a touch of vintage. The staff are very friendly and co-operative. The outside seatings by the pool are romantic, but it's kind of warm. So I would prefer indoor dining. Lovely experience on the whole. ❣
The buffet for breakfast here is CRAZYY! Which means DAMMM good . They have sooo much variety, it’s totally worth the money! Soo much food, soo Many varieties of it, South Indian north indian juices pancakes waffles donuts and what not. From the a la carte we ordered arabbiata penne pasta, masala papad, paneer tikka, tempura prawns everything was perfectly made so delicious and very very filling. Totally must go to place! But expensive hotel, ambience is just toooo good. Worth a visit!
We ate the lunch buffet last weekend during pur stay in Intercontinental Mahabalipuram. The food was good and tasted nice. The variety of food was really lacking although they had amazing breakfast spread and dinner. The deserts were the best and lots of them to chose from. Look forward to staying here again soon. If not for the lack of food variety I would have given it a 5 star rating
Lovely in house restaurant by the pool side. We dined here for breakfast , lunch and dinner during a corporate meet.
The spread was multi cuisine and the staff were kind enough to help us with our custom dietary requirements.
Lunch spread was particularly huge. Dinner and breakfast were rather small. It rained the day we visited making the experience even better.
The soup for both lunch and dinner deserve special mention. Creamy corn and bean and the other mushroom. Wish I could get a recipe !!

Had a wonderful buffet experience here with a wide variety of food. Calm and decent ambience with good lighting. Live chaat and kitchen counters were really good. The food was really tasty and hot. Every dish served on the buffet was upto its mark without any major flaws. The meat was well cooked and soft and the blend of spices was really satisfying. Really loved the vegetarian lasagne here, it was so cheesy and delicious. First time in a buffet i felt that the experience was quite unique. Last but not the least the dessert counter had a very good variety to choose from. The desserts were fresh and delicious. Ended up the meal as usual happily with some soft and delicious gulab jamuns.

Intercontinental Chennai on ECR has 3 restaurants and cafes-
Tao of Peng (have heard great reviews of it but did not go for it as we were not in a mood to have Japanese cuisine),
Kokommo (this is a beach facing cafe, supposedly the only shack kind of cafe in the city. We wanted to visit this place but it was closed due to incessant rain that day)
The Melting Pot (we finally ended up visiting this restaurant). This fine dining restaurant was buzzing with guests even on a rainy night, which is a validation of the quality of this place. We ordered 2 dishes and a drink to go with it. Every dish was perfect in taste and satiating to the mind.
The most important part of this culinary delight was when the second-in-command chef Mr Pradeep Sharma visited our table and enquired about the quality of food. When we were leaving he visited us again and thanked us for the visit. All the staff in the restaurant was very courteous - the reason that makes sure I will visit the restaurant once again.
Wow place for special evening , food I would say good, worth the evening to spend there with your special One. Located far off from the city, place is beautifully architected.

Good location and a serene space, massive infra and walk to the beach after your food on a less sunny day is a USP. Food is average and so is the service but the evening at the beach and the small shack serving snacks and drinks are a good choice to unwind.
We stayed in this hotel for two days. From outside the resort looks normal but once you enter inside it is very good. It is attached to beach and they serve mouth watering starters during evening. We went for their buffet dinner and I don’t have words to explain. It is very huge, tasty and yummy. Every item was prepared with due care which gives the perfect taste. Starters, drinks, main course and desserts everything was perfect. Our children loved it. Their home made ice creams are a must try. Staff were very friendly and were ready to always help. To explain in few words it’s a lavish, luxury and yummy 😋 buffet. One should certainly go and try it.
Good variety in their breakfast spread. Friendly and prompt service. Food taste was good. Pancakes and the other varieties offered in both conti and Indian were of good taste. Fruit selection and juices were fresh and nothing tasted ordinary.

A beautiful restaurant inside the premises of InterContinental, the Melting Pot has one of the most interactive head chef. He went around to each table asking for feedback of the food which I really appreciated. The food here was up to the mark though obviously on the higher end of premises. I would say it is a must visit for all people in Chennai for a quiet and pleasant time.

We tried akrod paneer tikka which was very different from the generic paneer starters. The corn tikki could've been improved. Fried rice was decent. We tried textures of chocolate for dessert and it was heavenly

The Ambience of this place was just fantastic, Went for Lunch on our Wedding Anniversary and Enjoyed the Aura of the restaurant with the Indoor pool ,For the starters, we ordered the Tempura Prawns which was quite bland and vapid, The Chicken Tikka was absolutely delicious and flavorful which was the only saving grace, We ordered a Chicken Dum Biryani which was not even close to any kind of Biryani that we have had so far, Their portions were quite stingy and was never a match to their overly priced menu, Last but not the least, Don't miss the Beach :-)

Found this spot on Zomato and wanted to give a try. It's located inside intercontinental resort and was a bit hard to find in the night. Went in for the buffet and the price was on the higher side I would say. The customized pastas were good. The starters were okayish. Deserts had a spray of choice. The place provides a good ambience. Try it out if you want something that's away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Overall the food quality was good and the ambience was nice. I would recommend for a family or even couples as well.
Food : To start with food and dishes available, it is buffet that we went and they had good variety in starters, main course and dessert. I liked their mutton curry and chicken starter. While there may not be many options but the taste of both veg and non veg starters were good.
Ambience: while the restaurant might be compact with limited space but their outdoor view and the resort is good and you have access to their lawn and beach as well which is worth visiting. I really liked it.
Cost: It is around 2k per person for a dinner buffet and I would say it is bit expensive but given the ambience and the food quality I would say worth the spent.
Overall if you are looking to spend some good quality time along with good food with your loved ones I would recommend this place for sure.
Beautiful place for a dinner date. Loved the A la carte menu, decent mix of Indian, continental and Oriental. But the oriental food would take more time to prepare since they come from another part of the resort. Service is Excellent, catering to every need.
South Indian foods were more delicious than others. We stayed and had a wonderful breakfast in this restaurant.
Even though we weren't staying at the hotel and visited only the restaurant, found the ambience absolutely beautiful. Restaurant was packed to full capacity on the weekend so reservation is recommended. Staff is very polite and helpful. We opted for buffet but the spread was comparatively less and also predictable for the price we pay. Paneer in starters and main course was amazing and literally melting in the mouth, it was that soft. Starters and Main course were all good. Heard a lot about the desserts at this place, so the expectations were high but I didn't find it mind blowing.
Can opt for this place for special occasions.
Had recently gone here for our wedding anniversary celebration and the staff prepared a cake for us at such short notice. Very friendly and helpful staff who made our celebration even more special
Easter Brunch was very well planned and orchestrated with a fairly large spread .Sushi ,continental food and the live counter was good. Desserts were themed with an easter twist ,this was beautifully done .We were served ice cream that was made in house .It was very good. It would have been better if pizzas were on the menu

Melting pot - We had such a great experience eating at this restaurant. The service was top notch and their cozy ambience.
We went for Sunday brunch and it costed around 2500+ (Inc of tax). The only drawback is the food spread . The items were quite less for the amount paid. Apart from food, The place is real amazing and would recommend trying here once. They have a great outside seating near pond as well.
Mouth watering buffet with huge list of menu options. Loved all bites of food. Staff is friendly but some on service are only after top ratings on trip adviser so beware of their happy faces. Starters, salads, chats, main courses and desserts, everything was just amazing. Would go again while visiting Mahabalipuram.

I recently visited The Melting Pot: Market Café for breakfast and I have to say that it was one of the best breakfast buffets I've experienced in a long time. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere that was both inviting and comfortable, with lots of natural light and plenty of space to move around.
The breakfast buffet was the star of the show. There was a great variety of options available, with both hot and cold items, as well as made-to-order omelettes and waffles. Everything was fresh and delicious, with plenty of healthy options like fresh fruit and yogurt, as well as heartier fare like bacon, sausage, and eggs. The selection of pastries and baked goods was also impressive, with lots of different flavours and textures to choose from.
The service was excellent, with staff members constantly refreshing the buffet and checking in to make sure that everything was to our liking. They were friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
