I came by this place yesterday evening more by accident. Thinking this was a Dosa place , then decided why not have “the Dosa”. Entering , I liked the ambience and then was really surprised by the Menu choices. Turned out it was not a Vada/Idli/Dosa restaurant, but a full fledged “Meals” place with a really, really excellent “variety” , and I really mean “variety” of vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes not just from South India , North India , Mangalorean but also from South East Asia As well. And was I tickled to see Mangalorean home made items like “Ethi-Pundi” and “Marwari-Pundi”.
But due to Some health restrictions yesterday and as I had entered the restaurant to have something “light” and vegetarian, on recommendation from the staff I ordered veg stew which comes with 3 aapas as part of the order. Lovely Aapas (decent size, not stingy at all ..soft and full .. very well made) and went very well with the Vegetable Stew. That’s it I am going to come here to try their other fares.
Great to have a restaurant that offers “local” food in addition to having an international variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. One thing I didn’t see in the menu is the Mangalore “Sukkah” items .. I might have missed it in their large menu choice, but am hoping they add it in case it’s not there.

Food 🍱: Ordered the Chicken Thali , Aapam and Chicken Ghee Roast. The Aapam was heavenly just the way it should be and it went really well with the ghee roast.

Coming to the food...We ordered calamari and chicken ghee roast, chicken pulimunchi, appam and coconut rice... right blend of spices...their appam is soo soft and spongy I never had such appam in my life...for that I really want to thank their chef for providing such delicious and yumilicious food... chicken pulimunchi was another unique dish that mesmerized me...I simply became fan of this place... the ghee roast flavours was bursting in the mouth like heaven...one thing is the quantity of ghee roast was lil less..
Decor was nice and cozy..staffs are friendly and greets the guests warmly...thanks to all the staffs and chefs for doing their job so nicely...everything was just so perfect about this place that there is nothing negative...

Good food, great service and ambience. We visited this place for dinner and ordered sangria, soup, appam stew and coconut pudding. All the orders were delicious. The paan shot served at the end is complimentary and was the highlight of the meal.

The food was excellent. We had:
1. Classic Chicken Lollypop- this was the best chicken lollypop I ever had. The dip was also perfect. I ordered another one as the first got over in minutes 😄
2. Chicken Ammachi- This was a kerala dish and it was awesome. The gravy was perfect in taste and consistency. They serve complimentary appams with this dish. The appams were too good!!!
3. Caramel custard and ice cream- these were decent.
Overall, a wonderful experience. The staff are really friendly. Excellent service. Please feel free to visit this place.
Authentic mlore food! This place has a neat and clean ambience. You have a variety of appams to choose from. We tried their Kori rotti, chicken green ghee roast, Anjal tawa fry and neer dosa. All the items were served hot and were finger licking good. Curries are served in earthen pots which i specially liked. Do try this place if you love mlore and Kerala cuisine.
If you are craving for authentic Kerala cusine, look no further but go to simply south. The causal dining set up is beautiful done with painting of Raja Ravi Verma ( Off course not originals) and beautiful antique Kerala style chairs. The service and hospitality is very nice too.
We tried the Prawn Porichatu and Malli chicken for starters which were both good. We tried egg Ghee roast as well which honestly i was not too impressed with. For mains we has Appam with mutton stew which was excellent and steamed rice with massaman chicken curry, just something slightly different to satiate our taste buds with some fusion food. Btw the Appam and the massaman curry goes quite well too.
Finally we wrapped our lunch with some complimentary coconut pudding and pan shots which was a perfect ending to a lovely family lunch.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The ambience is very comfortable. The Aapam food festival was brilliantly organised with a live Aapam counter and made to order curries that stay true to their traditional tastes. They have special menus for different occasions and cater to a wide variety of tastes.
I was on my way back from Coorg & had to really travel inside Mangalore city to dine here. Trust me the efforts were totally worth it. What lip smacking food! These guys deserve an award!! (Which isn't sold!) From their chicken curry to Appams, kori roti to coconut Pyasam it was all wow. My stomach got, full but my soul asked for more. There are some places you never want to leave & this was that restaurant for me. Not just the food even the staff is extremely warm & welcoming. Hope they grow heaps & bounds!!

This outlet is part of Hotel Prestige group. They always have some wonderful festivals happening. This time it's Aati food festival. A great opportunity to try some authentic Mangalorean delicacies. The Agoli Manjanna Vanas is really wholsome meal with 24 dishes from chutney, starters, main course & dessert. Really worth for RS. 399. It's upto 16th Aug. This is their 4th year of celebration.

I was a guest at the associated hotel, Hotel Prestige, and for dinner I stepped down into this place.
They offer unlimited appams with any dish, but that was not to be as that offer is only for lunch.
So Siva and I called for a Chicken Keema (Rs 300) with two Neer dosas. Awesome in taste - dry chicken keema, peppered with Kadi patta and sans any noise of green peas or boiled potatoes. I wish the quantity was a tad more though.
As a result, we called for Surmai (Seer Fish) in gravy. What we got was a largish pot, thick with a coconutty tangy gravy, but again disappointingly, a very small piece of fish.
The accompanying Chapattis and White rice were average fare.
The fresh Lime soda was neat, extremely fizzy and lemoney, and a genuine delight.
The amuse bouche of Paan shots was an imaginative and welcome closure.

On a separate occasion, for lunch the next day we called for Fish Thali. Surprisingly only Rs 135 each - for a sumptuous fare of a Fish fry piece, a fish gravy bowl, two veggies, one daal, one vermicelli kheer and one bowl of curd.
We also called for a Crab Ghee Roast, which arrived as a platter of shell in large Crab, roasted, red masala embalmed, and with all its fangs removed. Although it was a shell in crab, yet the crust had been broken to such an extent that a minor fiddling with deft fingers was sufficient to scrape out the meat within. And the meat was not only gorgeous, but it was in sumptuous quantity too. Full marks.
And all this, for a princely sum of Rs 340. In Mumbai, it would have cost an arm and a leg.

The best to enjoy a THALI. Peaceful vibe and happiest meals ever. For those who are typical rice persons who likes the flavour of south indian dishes, will definitely enjoy the visit. They have food items around Kerala, Mangalore and Asia. Their Appam fusions are also great.

There was amazing crab Pani Puri. Sweet crab meat with pani might sound weird but this dish proves you wrong if you are wondering about the combination. Amazingly good innovation which plays with your taste buds. This should go viral for every good reason.
Kenji jenji, a crab meat burji was spicy for my pallet but I couldn't stop eating it. Teasingly spicy!
Yellow fish curry with coconut rice was a classic for the main course. The combination was on point.

An average place, decent ambience. We ordered the chilly chicken starter which tasted pretty good and the chicken schezwan rice which was average. The guy taking our order wasnt very clear and specific and my vegetarian friends ended up getting an extra paneer starter(painfully spicy) to the table when they had ordered for veg schezwan noodles in the first place. Overall it was an okay experience

A fairly good outlet for all those who love south Indian food. The ambience is calm, the staff is admirable. The food, i feel has great many options for the non vegetarians. Vegetarians are left with very few options.

Tomato Pineapple Rasam- pineapple lovers this soup is your match in heaven.
Shack o Taco- south Indian version of a taco, with a twist. Appam taco sheets with a filling of potato, salad and papad.

It was 9:30 in the night and we were searching options to order food at work. One of my co-workers suggested to order biryani from this place. He appreciated a lot about this place and so we ordered Lucknow chicken biryani. It was a good decision! The taste was amazing, chicken was cooked properly and food was fresh at that time in night which is bit unusual in Mangalore, specially for home delivery. I would love to visit this place soon.
Great place to try south Indian food laced with generous amounts of coconut oil. Friendly staff, decent ambience and reasonable price. Seafood is on the higher side but that's the case with all the restaurants in Mangalore, weirdly. Worth a visit.
I went here with my best friend with like 600 bucks. Month end 😂 we had the chicken kheema ghee roast and roomali roti . Till date we haven't found any ghee roast tastier than what we had . We had a lil but left us a great impression . Absolutely amazing .

The ambience is ok. The fish curry meals are a treat. Must have food item on the menu. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast at the restaurant.
Tried the ghee roast festival there in February and it was worth it. Tried the chicken keema version of ghee roast and it was really good. The mangalorean chicken curry with neer dosa was amazing and flavourful (gravy size was humongous, easily enough for 3-4 ppl)

"Simbly South". The name gives itself out, and that their speciality is Kerala cuisine. I tried out the Kerala style fish curry and chicken curry, but personally I didn't like it.
MUST TRY -
1) Chicken Kheema Ghee Roast with Neer Dosa or Apam. (My mouth is watering already)
2) Garlic Chicken
3) Coconut Pudding. (So light, not too sweet. Healthy I'd say)
PRICE - Pretty reasonable.
Ambience - Good.
Music - Bollywood instrumental songs.
Service - Good. They'll come to you whenever you ask them to.

Well, this happens to be my first visit to the place. As the place was crowded, I was tend to by a staff from diesel cafe, staff here is kind and soft spoken.
Coming to the menu , lot of diffrent cuisines. Well here's what I tried. First off beverages,
1) Peach Iced Tea.
2) Fresh lime sweet and salt.
3) Cold coffee.
Well executed.
Secondly starters,
1) Mix veg green ghee roast.
2) Koddai Rawa Fry.
3) Masala papad.
Well the masala papad was not crisp enough, rawa fry could use a better presentation but tbe fry itself was well executed, the ghee roast was spectacular.
Next up Main course,
1) Dal fry and Jeera rice.
2) Meen moilee with aapams and ceylon aapams.
Dal fry and jeera rice were well executed, but the meen moilee was spectacular, one of the best fish curries I have ever had. Ceylon aapams are egg aapams, with a egg in centre of it.
Well for dessert I went with the "coconut payasam", the only disappointing dish of the whole dinner. I would have liked it a little thicker in consistency and more flavourful.

Was recommend this place a year ago. This time we wanted to visit the place again as the food is really awesome. Have tried their South Indian dishes it's quite good and there is no change in the taste. A place which I would suggest for a meal.

Been here on a Saturday night with cousins and other family friends. The restaurant is pretty new and not many people currently know about it in Mangalore. We ordered Chicken Lemon Coriander Soup, Paimaam's Pal Chicken, Padmakka's Pepper Paneer as starters. The dish names initially sound funny as they are Konkani oriented and being Konkanis, we didnt bother much to order some fancy named dishes. Something which a non vegetarian ought to try here is the Chicken Kheema Ghee Roast along with Appam or Neeru Dosa perhaps. For main course, we ordered Mutton Biryani. Trust me, the Biryani was absolutely in the right proportion considering the masala mixed with the rice and Chicken pieces. Little sweeter and averagely spicy though! We also had Coconut pudding as desert. It seemed pretty ordinary and personally I was a little disappointed only with the desert.
The ambience is dim light at the nights and big tables. The cost for food is a little expensive than expected considering Mangalore standards. The servers are generous enough to tell you the specialties of the restaurant and kind enough to bare the noise you make, if you come in along with a big group. But all in all, I recommend one can visit this place along with their families.
The Prestige Hotel in Mangalore has 3 dining options and simbly south is one of the better ones. It is a fine dine restaurant serving coastal and south Indian specialties, i suspect sharing the kitchen with its low end bar oriented counterpart - Dakshin.
The decore and the seating is good, and a clear fish tank on the wall separates the hotel lobby from the restaurant. It has a nice, calm feel to it.
The food ofcourse revolves around coastal delicacies and that's exactly what I ordered for. Some good anjal gassi curry, medium spicy with a very nice appam. Soft in the centre, and crispy on the corners, a classic accompaniment with the fish curry and a meal I relished.
Service is also good and the staff is always nearby to ensure you are served well. Pricing is on the higher side but it's good for a fine dining restaurant.
Been here during their Mutton Festival. Great variety of dishes to choose from. Roasted Mutton Pepper salad, Mutton Nimbuda for starters, Lentil Mutton Shorba & Mutton Ka Shorba for soups are must tries. The chef recommends Koyla Dum Biryani for main course and it's just divine.

Visited Simbly South in anticipation of #2020. Restaurant was empty when we walked in around 8.00 PM. Started filling up when we were leaving around 10.00 PM. The food was excellent and the service was very courteous. Would really recommend this restaurant. We were also provided discount vouchers for Rs.200 X 2 for use during subsequent visits.

The simplicity of this place will make you love it. The food is more than nice. Not so overpriced.
This fusion is with a desi accent. The soft and spongy rasgulla is soaked in filter kapi is served with ice cream topped with chikki. The moilee yellow gravy marries the Andhra spices to add a flavour of its own. The rich and creamy coconut rice is served in a very interesting manner wrapped in a banana leaf like a tower and served hot. The Tamil Nadu style rasam gets a Hawaiian twist and is served as soup. If Indians had invented tacos it would probably be like this_ appam served with a spicy filling garnished with crispy papad. One of our family favourite restaurant.at mangalore.. Very nice ambience , with some good music .. food is delicious. Apam is veg/,chicken stew are the highlights here . One must try deserts like coconut pudding, tender coconut payasam, raagi manni.
Staff is very courteous , seating is comfortable , even kids will enjoy Thier dining here ..
No dedicated parking, but one must park on either side of road
