Had ordered pork pepper roast and prawns fried rice . Pork had less quantity and fried rrice had good quantity
Went there on a Monday evening thinking it would not be as crowded. But I was wrong, the place was packed as usual. Ordered my favorite Chicken Sukka for starters and ended up ordering another one and finishing it off all by myself. My husband and I felt it was the best we've ever had, we can vouch for it. A MUST try!!
My husband ordered the much hyped Phat Freddie burger, but found it to be average.
Overall, had a great meal. What made it more pleasant was being served by a very friendly staff member who cracked us up.
This place, for its authentic Mangalorean dishes, is a must visit when in town,.
Been here on Saturday after a decade. Used to visit during college. Was not very crowded but decent. Ordered prawns masala fry, which tasted good as also the quantity was satisfying. They have fish in green masala on weekends. The waiter on asking said that its some green color used for masala which made me a bit skeptical to order. So i asked a person at the counter, looked like the person who manages the place, who was very clear that they DO NOT use any color but the masala is of mint and palak. He recommended green masala ghee roast of anjal. For me that was the best green masala i had in recent times. Green masala fish roasted in ghee with 80s music in the background. Highly recommended, a must try.
Advice to management - getting people to work at restaurants is very very difficult in Mangalore as most of them are from northern part of Karnataka. But advisable to train them.
A very old place in mangalore I have been their guest since very long time and they have always kept me happy with their food and customer satisfaction

I would rate this 5 as this restaurant was my hunger saviour during my college days. I just love their fish meals. The ambience is great and the staff are obsequious. This is the place for pescatarian as you find many options in sea food. The owner is very humble and cheerful . This is all time favourite and I highly recommend this place.

I always wanted to give this place a try and finally did it last month. The place was quite full even though it wasn't a weekend. The ambience must say 5/5 is too good. The interiors and the wall arts were amazing and looked like they were inspired from an American cafe or bar. The service was also too good.
1)WRONG ISLAND ICE TEA : Yes guys! Don't take me wrong. It is WRONG Island Ice Tea. I do not know if you guys know about it but for me it was something new because I always heard it as Long!😅. And yes there wasn't a long glass but it was more like a wine glass. Its a must must try cocktail here. 5/5
2)PHAT FREDDIE CHICKEN BURGER: Well I was aware that this place is much famous for burgers. They have variety of mouthwatering burgers. My bothers whenever they visit Mangaluru they crave for this burger. They also serve beef as well as pork burgers also. I tried chicken burger and it was my life's best burger. 5/5
3)FRIED ONIONS: This is a pretty running snack here. They really serve it the best possible 5/5.
4)FRIED CHICKEN : Like any other fried chicken. Could have been better 3/5.
Would love to visit here again and try many more dishes. Yes! Now its me who's craving for the burger😅
Sumptuous beef n pork dishes.. (try barbeque pork and beef pepper fry), Aappam n stew make a great pair.. Noisy.. decent music, good Ambience..
Amazing ambience , Music was good . Nice place to be with friends . 10% off for students . Tried the burgers. They were THE BEST. The cheese loaded fries were also amazing . Biryani was good though the quantity is reduced as of before . Kheema rice was also tasty😍
I have been visiting Mangala Restaurant and Bar for more than a decade now. This place has been my mandatory pit stop whenever I am in Mangalore or else the trip stands incomplete. This place have had many transitions in terms of decor and ambiance yet they always managed to serve authentic and delicious Mangalorean cuisines.
Amazing place for pork lovers... fatless pork chilly and pork bafat tastes yumm... loaded nachos has crispy nachos topped with kheema and cheese... tossed chicken is a must try starter... price is a little expensive for the quantity... nevertheless food tastes yummy as always...
Good ambiance. Slightly dingy but good music and decor. Nonveg foodies will love the place. Burgers are a must try. Pork items are great. The quantity is decent so watch how much to order. Do try the phar Freddy. It's heavy. Service is sometimes fast sometimes slow. But staff has a decent idea of the food items. Good for a small group outing. Usually don t require prior table reservation.
Famous for burgers and pork dish.. reasonable price.. open till late 11.30.. food will be served quickly.. sperate section for family crowd..
The pork Freddy is the best burger I have eaten in Mangalore. That along with a cold beer was amazing. Also the bacon wrapped sausages are to die for .
If you are pork lover like me, then this is the place for you to visit. Succulent pork dishes that are so good to blow your mind away. I have visited this place multiple times and my favorites definefitly is the classic pork bafat and the pork roast. The combination of soft fresh appams and pork bafat is a match made in heaven. Apart from this their other pork dishes like roast, ginger pork, the pork salad etc are also excellent. Though the service is a little slow, the the taste of the food is worth the wait😍.
Nice place to hangout with your friends. It's just besides the main road. Parking is a problem, but you can find some spot around. Food is good, ambience is not so great.
I love the onion rings and the burgers served with a side of crisps here. As a vegetarian, I still find good choices in their menu. The rolls had a nice wrap and the filling was very generous. The ambience does get a bit loud and rowdy sometimes but that is to be expected.
Quite a spacious and cozy place to visit with family and friends. Seating are very close to each other hence no privacy. Ambience is good and decent. Reasonable place but the quality is very less sufficient for two max. We tried pork, Chicken Chilly, gobi Manchurian, paneer burji, boiled veggies, french fries. All had very less quantity. It was 2 while we reached place was quite crowded and service was slow. Beer is available in pitcher and jar. Food was tasty 4/5, Service 4/4, ambience 5/4
Good Food , Good Service , Decent Ambiance friendly atmosphere .. Squid Sukka , Tawa Frys are best here ...
PORK and Beef available @ decent price ....
Cozy and neat place with good interiors. Best place for Pork dishes. Friendly staff. Reasonable pricing. A place where one can go with family and friends. Pork Roast is a must try dish for Pork lovers.
I’m never disappointed with this place. I love the food. Simply delicious! My all time favourite is Freddie. Phat Freddie burgers with extra cheese is 👌🏽
The Fat Freddie Burgers, the pork and chicken dishes and Biryani are yummy, the staff are very friendly, there's a music band too...overall, a good package of everything nice at reasonable prices!!
This was an amazing joint we visited on our trip to Mangalore. It is a must visit, especially for meat lovers. I'm an eggetarian and so ordered for their special egg masala and ghee rice. They were both wow! Simply delectable and yumm. Easily the best egg masala I've had. I was so sold on the place, we went there on two consecutive evenings for our dinner. :-) Service was also above par.
Always love coming to this place . Good ambience , good place for friends as well as family 😊 Amazing food , which just feels like home food. This place is a must try :) specially burgers , thali , kheema biryanis , pork & beef items . this place will never disappoint you
So we ended up in this restaurant while searching pork n beef.. and left with no regrets.
Roasted Beef and pork dish are best in here..
Ice tea was good..
Do try.. not so overrated
Ambience are awesome. 😄
It's 1st time for me ...Becan wrapped sausage ....mutton biriyani ...chiken cheesy Freddie just amazing taste.....very fast service ....nice ambience too...want to visit again 😋😋😋😋....
This place is an absolute stunner! Don't be deceived by the looks of this place from the exterior. The food here is absolutely lip smacking and you get the best pork in town here for sure. They have a line of burgers aswell which is surprisingly delicious. This place is economical.
Food 5/5
Drinks 5/5
Service 5/5
Ambiance 3/5

Mangala is all about Polite staff, clean place and Delicious food.. I tried the chicken ghee roast here.. but I guess once u taste the chicken ghee roast at Shetty's lunch home nothing can beat that.
Do not miss the kheema buns here. It's out of this world!!!
Mangala @ Mangalore
Good food.
The pork chilli is really good. Even the burgers are good.
Whenever we are in Mangalore we always take parcels from Mangala. Though I think lately there has been a dip in the taste but nevertheless it's still good.
The ambience is also good and great music.
The place is quite peaceful and the service is amazing... love the food.. especially the kheema, the pork kheema to be specific is the best ...
Revamped interiors, Peaceful ambience, quick service and polite staff.
Our order being
Chicken Sausage Salad
Pork Chops: Yumm, A must try.
Cheesy Beef Kheema:
Bacon wrapped Sausages: Soft and Moist
Chicken Ghee Roast Biryani: Beautifully cooked.
Virgin Mojito
All the dishes ordered were good and well presented.
One of those legendary outlets in Mangalore, this is not a place any carnivore should miss. The menu has everything a meat eater could ask for, literally being spoiled for choices.
We ordered the Special Kheema biriyani, BBQ meat roast, loaded fries and their signature Phat freddie burger. None of the dishes were short of delicious. The biriyani is a must, with the delicious Kheema sauce oozing over the succulent chicken pieces and the egg. The Phat Freddie is usually good with beef and delicious strips of bacon, every bit of the meat and cheese melts in your mouth. The BBQ meat roast was succulent and thin, well coated in BBQ sauce. But the quantity was a bit disappointing. There are so many dishes to be tried from the menu, multiple visits here would not be enough to exhaust the menu.
The have a bar with restaurant section and a much more fancier pub next door. The alcohol in the restaurant is decently priced and the ambiance is just enough to chill with good food and drinks.
Mangala is one of the few restaurants in Mangalore that has maintained standards over the years.
Mangala has always been close to our hearts as we have many memories linked with this place... Be it hanging out with our friends over the weekend right from college days, celebrating birthdays, dinner with family or going out on our first date together...
Over the years, even though the prices have increased and the quantity reduced, what remained constant is the quality of food and the hospitality received at Mangala. All the waiters who have been with the restaurant, for a long time, are very friendly. The ambience is good and the service is decent even if the restaurant is packed with customers.
Now coming to the food... Mangala is well known for its Mangalorean delicacies and of course the great Freddy Burger.
There are a couple of new entries on their menu which we would like to recommend... (with a mug of beer!)
1. Loaded Fries - French fries loaded with minced pork (also available with minced chicken) and cheese... The perfect carby comfort food... :)
2. Chicken Sausage Salad - Fried chicken sausage tossed with onions and tomatoes. This is served with a generous amount of mayo as topping.
3. Spicy kheema with cheese - You can always order the dish with chicken kheema. But we prefer pork kheema which is a lot more tasty! Spicy kheema with cheese can be eaten plain. We prefer eating it with chicken sausage fried rice - it's a mind blowing combination!
4. Loaded Nachos - Crispy nachos topped with mince and cheese.
Mangala Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in town that has still retained its charm, flavour and thereby, customers. It has been serving great food since 1981 if I'm not mistaken.
I visited this place on a Sunday with family. We went around 9 pm and the place was not too crowded. The service is excellent. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable about the food. We tried their Coorg style pork as a starter. (weekend special)This was a well cooked dish. The pork was soft and the masala was delicious -perfectly seasoned, not too peppery or garlicky. For main course we tried their Chicken in green masala with chapatis. While the curry was lovely, the chicken itself was a little on the bland side. It seemed like they cook the chicken and curry separately. This would have been fine if only they had added some spice to the chicken when cooking. We also tried the Phat Freddie (chicken) and this was the highlight for me. Juicy chicken patty with melted cheese, freshly made mayo, caramelised onions, pickled jalapeños and crispy bacon. It is a loaded burger and I made a complete mess when eating it (this is the sign ofna good burger in my opinion). It is absolutely worth all the hype and totally made up for the bland chicken in the curry.

The food is finger licking good.
Its an awesome place for a weekend party
The restaurant was clean and hygienic and the staff was very polite.
chicken sausage salad is a must try
Very good food. I ordered their chicken green curry and chicken sukka and both dishes were well prepared. They rate well on quality and quantity.
A great place for non vegeterian foodies! Ive tried pork chilly, chicken, squid as well beef varieties! And the food is worth every penny you pay! Plus I had the mangala special freddie chicken burger classic.. and it might not be as good as your kfc, McD, burger king burgers but will sure be worth the price and bigger than the other places I mentioned.
You can totally take your family along and have a great time trying it out!
Ambience great
Service great
I'd totally give a 5, if I had a review on the booze!
Images are of Freddie, Pork chilly and beef roast and chilly!
Visited last week second time.very good food specialty pork..good place..when I will visit Mangalore.. Must visit..parking place is issue.. Otherwise. ..excelent
Mangala and G6 Cafe are two faces of the same coin. Recently both these faces have got a facelift which gives to you more reasons to visit the place.
The phat Freddie( pork option) is a all time favorite. The other items which I have repeated on my visits are spicy kheema chicken , pork indaad , pork chilli, and sausage rapped in bacon.
A cool place for chats, as the food will provide more reasons to longer the conversations.
All the mouthwatering traditional dishes on your plate. Want to try some amazing mangalorean food. Then this is a must visit. Enjoyed my time and food here. Great food and service.
This place has definitely had one of the best makeovers I've seen. Finally accommodates families comfortably. And dapper interiors.
The food is finger licking good. The bacon wrapped sausage was juicy and divine. And the crispy onion rings with perfectly cooked pork chops had me drooling.
But disappointed with the chicken Biriyani. Though the meat was well cooked, the masala wasn't up to the mark.
Service was quick. Pricing is reasonable too. Plus they have separate zones for smokers and non smokers.
Overall a highly recommended place for foodies to catch up over drinks.
Its an awesome place for a weekend party. It will be on your budget. Love the delicious food which they serve. Even the ambience and the music was awesome. Its one of our main hangout place during college days. they use to serve delicious beef 65 and chicken ghee roast is awesome. Still I am feeling the taste on my mouth. The restaurant was clean and hygienic and the staff was very polite.
The place is spacious but location is a not quite good. Parking facility are not provided. A bit dim lighted place. Had tried Chicken Ghee Roast, Chicken wings, Chicken chilly and Biryani. Taste is quite good and spicy. Prices are reasonable. Staff is good. Freddie Burger is quite famous.. everyone seemed to be having one. The place is quite and Ambience is good. For those who like to hangout with friends and have some goodtime. G6 Music Cafe is right next to it. Enjoy!
The place of choice for a light evening out wid frnds..widout too loud music and d opportunity to sit and gossip, alongwith a few drinks and obviously the delicious chickwn starters they serve!!!
I knew this place since a long time. Never interested me much. But recently it has been renovated n it's pretty much gud.
Coming to food, Pork lovers would find a heaven here.
Pork chops r the Best . It's a bit expensive 265 but i promise u dat it will justify y it's a bit costly.
Pork baffat is ok ,not much to boast about.
Burgers- Phat freddie burger is heavenly(Chicken n pork). But again Xxl burger would spoil the mood. It's too much to swallow n ruins the actual taste of burger.
Others - Chicken curry thali, Silver fish fry, anjal tava fry, Egg biriyani, even Other biriyani r also pretty much gud
Ambience- Quite gud, bit shady. Gud for friends
Food- Pork Chops, Phat freddie, Silver fish fry, Anjal tava
Service staff is gud n friendly
Prices are bit high. But worth the food.
This one is surely in my top five places to eat out.
A must for non vegetarians. The Freddie burgers are in-house favorites.. available in classic, phat and xxl size
Beef and pork dishes are as good. Tried the beef roast, beef steak, pork chilly. Chicken sukha, king fish anjal and gravy. Bacon wrapped sausages
All of the above were awesome.
I'd heard a lot about this place but couldn't get a chance to try. Finally, we ordered food for dinner last night and I must write that it was really good. Specially the biryani with perfectly cooked meat and the correct amount of masala. Will definitely be visiting this place soon!
I visit this place Whenever i come to mangalore ... very nice food and waiters are very well behaved... neer dosa, appam, chicken curry , rawa fry and chicken sausage are my fav 😍
Must try the burgers! Especially pork. Absolutely fantastic. Nice place to hang out with your friends and have a beer or two. If you're coming in a group you can always get the beer tower.

Famous for their pork dishes and phat Freddie burgers. Also bacon wrapped prawns! Has a good variety of authentic Dakshin Kannada dishes too.
Serves alcohol- Good rates, good food.
Mangala Bar and Restaurant has been a household name for nearly 3 to 4 decades. Located around the Valencia Jeppu area it's advisable to find a parking spot around the hotel and walk in. The narrow lanes are troublesome.
Over the years Mangala has had a complete facelift in terms of the ambience and the brand. All that been said the signature dishes still are a stand out with no changes to the taste and quality.
Chicken White Masala, Chicken Masala, Chicken Biryani, Pork Roast, Pork Chilli, Beef Chilli, Beef Garlic Pepper are some of the ever so famous dishes.
A new line of fast food items such as Freddie burgers have made it to the menu offering. You would not be disappointed with the taste and the cost. All and all a great place to hang out.
I ate at the place about three weeks ago with two friends. We've always looked forward to Mangala dinners because that means pork and beef 😋. I ordered a beef phat freddie and it was absolutely scrumptious ! The pork chilly and sannas are very good too, though I wouldn't recommend sorpotel or rakti (maybe because I'm biased against innards). One of my friends' ordered a chicken freddie xxl and much to his disappointment, it appeared that one of the patties was undercooked. However, as he had finished a third of the burger, he didn't raise a fuss and simply left that patty. Otherwise, ambience is good and service is prompt.
Another one of Mangalore's food landmarks, a lot of Mangaloreans swear by the burgers here (fondly called Freddies). Prices were earlier on the higher side, now doesn't seem that expensive considering the inflation. Their Chicken Green Roast is famous as well.

I couldn't stop having silver fish fry. Ordered three plates consequently. Fish at its best level in whole mangalore, can give a try here. Food reaches to the level that you expect. Ambiance is little issue over here.
I can never get enough is this place. The Phat Freddie with Draught Beer and wafers or fries is unmatchable. The Freddie is just perfect with the beer. There's separate seating for smokers.
Frankly speaking, I love the Freddie so much that it's the only thing I've eaten there in all my visits
I have been visiting this place since my childhood, Their biryani is the best I can say.
Not to forget their Pork roast and Pork chops a must try items. Boneless Beef steak is just amazing. The best restaurant For Pork and Beef Lovers. The quantity is less compared to the prices, but the taste is really awesome.
I have been here twice and both the times had very good service,we precisely a chicken dish made in a particular manner and it was well made, the food here tastes so good I love eating Sannas and pork also I have ordered for number of occasions also a must try is the crash sukka it is heavenly
As a kid I used to go there with mum to take away some Sannas and pork chilli or any of the specials like Rabit gasi.. yum yum.. The memory is so fresh in my mind. Recently I had an opportunity to visit this place again for lunch with mum and bro.. they have renovated it beautifully and it doesn't make families feel awkward to dine there. But, in terms of food, I was kind of disappointed. It wasn't the same for me. Major portion of the pork chilli was fat (vob), In the fish thali/ meals, the fish fry was cold. However, would like to try certain other items when I am in Mangalore and get a privilege of a long lunch.

Chicken wings are yummy. So is the Freddy burger. Pork lovers must try the pork chops. The place can be a bit heavy on the pocket if you order sea food. But taste is definitely good.
Had a great and joyful time with maternal family group. Excellent food, Good service and Management. A memorable visit which wouldn't fade. Experience ensures revisits...!!
Comparatively good food in and around restaurants in kankanadi.. Except bar thing, but if u go with a group can enjoy, especially Freddie and NV food..
Mangala's is one of the popular bar cum resto's in Mangalore known to serve good non-veg grub. The place does look a little shady with the dim lights on the inside but has a family (👨👩👦) section on top.
The one thing that keeps the place special are the non-veg thali's ; one for each meat (Chicken , pork & beef). These specialized thali's priced between rs240-280 comes with 3 different preparations of the the respective meat (🐓/🐖/🐂) along with the other preparations.
The joint is one of the few that also serves burgers in Mangalore under their Freddie range
Mean Freddie -Rs 150 (Fish fillet Burger)
Phat Freddie - Rs 200 (Veg/Chicken/Pork/Beef patty with cheese and Bacon)
Freddie XXL- Rs 300+ (Double patty with double of the filling mentioned above)
The service is good. Preparations take a min. Of 20 minutes. Deserves a repeat visit.

A wonderful place to spend the afternoon or evening with Friends or Family. Dim lights, light music keep you going on.
Edit: Skip the Pork Pepper, either their standards or cook has changed/dropped. It was really bad, tasteless. I know my food, I know when something isn't worth even a try. Below is what I had initially written.
They have a good spread of local dishes.
Pork Pepper - Go for it! With or without fat its flavour is amazing! Spiced to prefection. The best ive had in Mangalore.
The other pork dishes are good also, but the Pepper is one of the best ive had in town.
Their signature freddie burgers and juicy, soft, meaty and can be topped with extra cheese & bacon. Do try it, never a disappointment. It comes in Beef, Pork, Chicken, Fish. Now they even have a Double patty burger, hogs get in there.
Bacon Wrapped Prawns are well prepared and juicy. Sadly the price is never right to the quantity served. I understand expense of seafood and bacon, but still not right. Had it three times, its always at a range of ₹450 for 6 pieces. The sight of the plate hurt me everytime 😅
Still a great place for some beers or drinks to enjoy the day.
Pepper pork and devilled pork is the best from here. I bought a take away with the above two items and some noodles. Really good. If on a budget, it's the best place to have amazing food. It's one of the places that serves great pork and beef too.
A restaurant with old world charm. Serves beer, see good & the FANTASTIC Phat Freddie Burger! Also had Prawn sukka (to die for!) with appams. Will visit again & again
Have been to this place couple of times and the food here is just fine. The ambience is not all that great. The chicken preparations were fine. The best thing to have here is the chicken freddy burger which is one of their signature dishes.
We had devilled pork, phat Freddie burger , pork pepper and sausage noodles. The burger as usual was good and very filling. Their pork preparation is brilliant especially the devilled pork with the right balance of spice and sour. Even the pork pepper was good. The noodles was brilliant without the extra sauciness and oil. One of the best noodles and pork that we have had in mangalore.
This place was recommended from a father to a son . So its that special . Absolutely love the staff , service and the ambience . The pork dishes and the sea food are making my mouth water as i speak . This is one place who have maintained rather i decent increase in their prices as well . A must visit if you are a fan of hardcore kudla cuisine fan !!!
When u enter the place, the ambiance isn't very reassuring. It is very dingy n dim. However, once your eyes settle down to this the food tries to make up for it. We ordered primarily pork dishes. The pork ghee roast was amazing. The fried pork was also good. The pork ribs were ok. The glaze on them was a bit much. The appam and chicken curry were the highlight of our meal. The veg dishes... Gobi manchurian and veg curry were very average.
I visited this place during my stay in Mangalore.
I just LOVED THE FOOD :)) I guess I will definitely revisit when in Mangalore.
Service was quick unlike Bangalore.
I had 10 neer dosa (can't believe) with chicken masala. Chicken masala was finger licking good. I can still feel it on taste buds..
Tried chicken sausage was too good, prawn Chilli (fresh n juicy).. Prawn pepper fry was even better than prawn chilly..
Kori rotti and kori gassi was good somehow I didn't find as great as neer dosa n chicken masala.. I have hogged to the fullest..
Hygiene is good and the prices are way too reasonable for bangalore standards..
Was too busy hogging didn't take any images..
After a little thinking, I zeroed on to Mangala Restaurant & Bar. I never went here before. But quite a. few friends had suggested trying their food, and specially the burgers. And on. a day like this, it seemed the perfect place to go. Situated near Valencia at Kankanady Mangalore, this place. has a large menu that offers everything from burgers to neer dosa. Even though the non veg menu that includes items made of
I travel to mangalore 3 to 4 times a year, every time we reach mangalore we go there first for lunch directly in our car. That's the kind of place it is. It makes you come here over and over again. The food is off the charts Amazing!!!!, everything that I have tasted here is great, the beef roast is amazing, pork chilly, neer dosa with chicken gravy, the fish thali, king fish fry just felt was over priced everything made in the kitchen has always been good. The ambience is a typical pub experience, service is good. The music is also great old hits. Definitely one of the places in mangalore to be in for a meal. Will try out the freddys burgee when I come here next time.
Went to Mangala's for a Sunday Dinner after craving for a good burger for about 6 months. We were seated in the family room which is on the first floor which had an ambience like a mix of an American Diner and a Mangalorean Pub. Ordered Pepper Beef, Pork Sarpothel , Pork Baffat, A Freddie XXL and a Lassi. The peeper beef was delicious and cooked well while the pork items were insanely spicy with an overload of chilli powder, a far cry from the traditional dishes' balance and spice . The Freddie XXL was one of the best burgers ive ever eaten with the beef patty cooked to perfection and very juicy and the perfect toppings to complement it to create a really huge, delicious and surprisingly very reasonable burger. The Lassi was eh... Didnt expect much and got what i expected. The service was also quick, prompt and friendly.

Great music, decent ambience and a reasonable menu.
I was told this was one of the places to definitely try in mangalore and so I made my way here.
And it did not disappoint.
Tried their phat Freddie burger and sausage noodles. And it had considerable portions and tasted great.
Do try indeed. Cheers.
Visited this place a couple of times during my visit to Mangalore. They are known for the Big freddie which is delicious. I did try the Special pork thali and i was amazed. It has 4 pork dishes, dosa , rice and dal. The dishes there are not over priced and their service is quick.
The food here is soo yummy..egg chilly is the best I had till date..Chicken chilly..panner chilly..totally worth it..good place nice hospitality..goof place for.people to booze in cool and calm...loved the place and food
One of the very few places in Mangalore that serves beef and pork. Must try their famous "Phat Freddie burger" with patty of your choice (chicken, pork or beef) with bacon and cheese. Nice place to sip a beer and enjoy your meal. :)
Awesome place. The food is just amazing. Great ambience.
Pork Phat Freddie and Meat phat Freddie take you to another dimension. Too delicious to be true!
Pork chops and Roast Mutton were cooked to perfection. It was love at first bite :P
Mutton Keema rice is delicious.
Bacon wrapped prawns are a bit heavy on the pocket. You can maybe try those once.
I give it a 4 cos of there ambience n food.. Beef n pork is really good here n yu can try mutton ghee roast as well here.. Music is overrated here n there's always some cricket match going on in TV.. This is d only thing that pro'lly sucks.. Rest is just cool!
Good food and very pocket friendly joint. Must try the chicken sausages wrapped in bacon and their signature Freddy burgers! Thier pork dishes are also worth a try, they have 'fat less' version of pork starters which are great too
Nice place to chill out with friends...
The Freddie Burger is amazing for the price...
The music is nice, they play all oldies...
And the decoration is super cool...
I just didn't like the server! Just one guy!!
Rest was fine....
Delighted with the food taste and quality. Also the variety and options are plethora.
However this place seems to serve its own loyal customer base. The atmosphere was mass and not easily likeable (atleast for us who came from Blr).
Aside the above, food won our hearts. The Sannas were best.
Great food. It will be easy to find tables on a weekday.
The food is great I loved the pork dishes and other starters available. The service was excellent as well. The servers were prompt in taking orders and serving the food.
One negative I've found is that it gets quite noisy in the evening and it becomes difficult to speak to others on your own table.
This restaurant owns one of my earliest childhood memories. From visiting with my dad to get take-out food on special occasions to growing up and meeting up friends at this spot, one thing that has remained constant is the kind of food quality that you get here, which is unparalleled in taste!
I've visited this place perhaps uncountable times and have had pretty much everything on the menu, both old and new.
Some of my favorites and must-try dishes are:
1. Bacon wrapped prawns
2. Pork salad
3. Chicken chilli baffath/pulimunchi
4. Squid pepper garlic/pulimunchi
5. Pork chilli/sorpotel/garlic/roast/chops and others
6. Beef chilli/garlic/65/roast and others
And not to mention,
7. Phat Freddie or Goan Phat Freddie Burgers!
These dishes are extremely good and a classic; you'll never be able to leave the plate empty!
The service here is decent to good. Some times it gets a little busy and then it's a bit slow, but no complaints otherwise. Management are friends, so I won't say much 😛.
Parking is on the street in front of or a little ahead of the restaurant and it's safe to say that there's no problem in finding a parking spot.
I would rate this 11/10, if I could. I visit here with friends every time I visit Mangalore and we have a blast along with a nostalgic and sentimental value for the place.
Cheers! 🍻
Visited here after 3 years and the place has changed. Upper floor has been closed due to rental issues and the place feels congested. Food was delicious as usual.
Mangala Bar and Restaurant is a popular restaurant in Mangalore, Karnataka. It is located in the Kankanady area, and is known for its Mangalorean cuisine. The restaurant has a modern, yet traditional ambience, and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
The food at Mangala is delicious and authentic. The menu features a wide variety of dishes, including seafood, chicken, and pork. Some of the popular dishes include the fish fry, the chicken tikka masala, and the pork vindaloo. Some of my personal favorites are pork chilly, bacon wrapped sausages, loaded nachos, Phat Freddie and the list goes on. The food is well-prepared and flavorful, and the portions are generous.
The service at Mangala is friendly and attentive. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and can help you choose the best dishes. They are also quick to bring your food and drinks.
I know the owners personally. They are passionate about food and hospitality. They are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure their guests have a good experience. They are a part of the Mangalorean community and are committed to supporting local businesses.
Overall, Mangala Bar and Restaurant is a great option for a delicious meal in Mangalore. The food is authentic and delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Mangalore.
It’s pricey but delicious! The only dishes I didn’t like were the beef ones. Burgers are so yum! Try it once . Too expensive otherwise. Have only had it as takeaways so for what you pay, you get small portions.
The bar previously was famous for it's Mangalorean catholic cuisine and for Phat Freddie burgers as i could see each and every table had burgers served to them and that's the reason i visited. Few things i tried from their menu.
Beef roast in bbq sauce - loved the dish overall, the meat was perfectly cooked but was a little chewy although the quantity could have been slightly better.
Freddie Beef Burger (regular) - Very juicy and flavourful, the buns are soft and fresh but a little on the sweeter side. The patty was nice and juicy. No fries or coleslaw instead they just give potato chips.
The Goan Phat Freddie Beef Burger - flavourful juicy burger which included goan chorizo, a piece of bacon and some veggies and potato chips as sides.
Phat Freddie Beef Burger - again very similar to The Goan burger except no chorizo but only a piece bacon and chips as sides.
Overall the burger had a very similar taste to it and tasted very nice. The ambience was decent and staff were friendly with good service. The prices are reasonable. Parking is limited for 4 wheelers but there's plenty of space by the main road.
I go here every time I travel back to town. I would go here every week or bi-weekly when i lived in Mangalore. The food is amazing. The service is great and the vibe makes me feel like I'm home! Everything on their menu is amazing so I'm not quite sure what to recommend specifically. I do miss the old days when we could dine-in upstairs but it doesn't stop me from going back again!
"Mangala offers a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is charming, and the service is attentive. The food is flavorful and well-presented. While prices are reasonable, portions could be a bit more generous. Overall, a recommended spot for a satisfying meal."

This visit to Mangala was a pitstop during our drive. The menu is so vast it takes a while to decide what to have, but most of the locals seated near us knew what they wanted. We tried the kori roti, beef ghee roast nachos, crispy fried pork in sweet chilli sauce and pork chilly with appams. Food is very tasty I definitely want to come here again as there was so much on the menu I wanted to try.
The place has a good atmosphere and have a vibe to enjoy. I felt the service could have been improved. Food was so delicious where I tried Chicken Biriyani which was so good. Offers different varients of liquor at affordable price. Located in the heart of the city which is a boon for many people. Have some decent parking conditions. Overall it was a great experience
This used to be a shady place to drink back in the day. Wasn't hard on your pocket and could afford a drink. I'm pretty impressed with the way it's been rebranded and restored. The ambience and service is excellent. It's a good place to chill and catch up with friends. Above all the nostalgia of this place lives up to its name. A visit with friends here is memorable. Cheers Bon Appetite!!

I recently dined at Mangala Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance, service, and food were all outstanding. Each dish was a masterpiece, and the flavors were exquisite. Don't miss the Freddie Burgers! A top-notch restaurant for any occasion.
Let me start by saying, Mangala truly has the meat game on lock! 🥩
This place has not only served me some of the most unforgettable dishes but also has an absolutely killer management.. leaving me with not just the craving to head back for yum food but memories as well!
(P.S : You can bet your taste buds if there was one dish I’d have to pick to eat for the rest of my life - it's gotta be that mouthwatering devilled beef/pork!) 😍
Looks much better after remodeling. Family bar and restaurant. One of the best places to have a bite to eat and chill. Food is pretty good but the quantity is too less for the price. The service is kinda slow and staff is always in a hurry or gets annoyed easily. No beer towers.
This place never disappoints when it comes to their phat freddie burgers and a chopped out beer. The boneless chicken 65 with onion rings, appam and butter chicken combo is always on point. Always a good time with good food here. Let's also not forget the cheerful waiter who serves food with a smile and a compliment to everyone on the table.
The place has a very relaxed yet a subtle undertone of a crowd favorite. We had the loaded goan chorizo french fries which was amazing and ordered pork chop for the main. However, the pork chop was a little disappointing as the raw smell of pork was quite evident. But, the onion rings provided on the side are top notch. Would have loved to try the popular freddie burgers but next time. The highly diverse menu is another plus.
