When you think of Chinese food, there are two names just strike up. They are Hao Hao and Hao Ming . The Hao Hao is competely better than Hao Ming. Tried out few of the dishes.
Place is small and cozy.
Only when I thought the Chinese food in Mangalore did not live up to my expectations, I came across this tiny little Chinese outlet with excellent Chinese food. Cooked to perfection. And pocket friendly. A must visit for Chinese food lovers.
It's a decent place located next to juice junction, balmatta. It's very pocket friendly as compared to the other places out there. They quantity of the food is way more than you will usually get from a restaurant that is in Bangalore within the same price range.
The ambience is too dark and definitely doesn't give you a comfy feeling. In my opinion the ambience needs to improve.
Coming to the food we had ordered fried squids and drums of heaven for appetizers. The squids were really good and filling. The drums of heaven was good and overall great quantity for the price. For main course we ordered the shin min rice which was pretty heavy and had a lot of prawns and chicken and tasted quiet good.
Overall a good experience and would recommend the same to others.
Ambience 2/5
Food 3/5
Price 4/5
Service 3.5/5
The place is decent for student crowd, ambience looks a bit shady , quantity of food is good , quality of food is average hygiene is average , many many not like it , the soups are good
A typical Chinese food with variety of options.. a different ambience and different taste in food.. happened to visit once to that place....
A nice experience here........ Loved the food n also the quantity was too good for two peeps....... Friendly behaviour of the serving staff helps a lot...
It was a great place to visit but over the period the taste of the food has dropped down. May be we are more aware of Chinese food and we have better places to compare. But still recommend hao hao for Chinese when you are in Mangalore. The ambience and service is good.
have seen a lot of Chinese food like actual Chinese and Indian Chinese. so Hao Hao chinese chicken is like north Indian food with a chinese tadka
we found lack of lights and very much sweaty inside.
food to be average and good service pushed to rate 3.5
Hao Hao is on of the must visit Indo-chinese place in Mangalore. Try the Shinmin Rice and Shanghai Rice.
Parking is going to be a hastle since the place is situated on a one-way street. Place is dark and chinesey decorated. All the starters are great and easy on the pocket. Consistency with the taste has been thier drawback. But on a good day the food can give a stand against any restaurant in Mangalore. It used to be the place to go to 'once upon a time'. But now just one of the classics in Mangalore. Why not give it a chance again?! Enjoy!
Service- 4/5
Food- 4/5
Quality- 3.5/5
Quality- 4/5
Interior- 2.5/5
Prawn items, sizzlers, fried rice are good. Service could be a little quicker.
So we went to these much talked abt chinese restuarant at mnglore .for the first time it was kinda difficult to find these location .once i enterd the place i cud smell a very unpleasent smell .but got use to it after some time .so i orderd the much hyped food here tht is thai cruncy chicken and shin min noodles ..the quantity was huge eventough i have a big apeitite i was unable to gulp down the shin min noodles completely ..and the price is a very buget friendly keeping aside the ambience just for the food i recomned ppl to try
Peking rice is the best here. I stay in bangalore but I long for Hao Hao always. Thai crunchy chicken, manchow soup, hot and sour soup, dragon chicken, chicken pepper fried wings tastes out of the world.
Location : near collector circle, behind juice junction.
Hao Hao is one the famous Chinese cuisines in Mangalore city. I went here for dinner on a Sunday. I generally eat chow min in Chinese but this time I decided to eat something different so I looked into Zomato for some suggestions and got some idea.
Here for soup I started chicken sweet corn soup. Soup was as usual no special mention needed for it. It was plain without salt and pepper, so that we can customize our own salt and pepper content.
Next for starters I preferred chicken satay. This chicken satay was boneless, served in sticks. This can be decent for 2 persons, but not stomach filling. The chutney which they gave was also really good for it. But I think it was a bit oily which could have been dried.
Finally for main course I took chin min Noodles ( here u get a choice between rice and noodle). This menu is mix with sauce of both chicken and prawn with scrambled egg on top layer. It had mild sweet taste in it. The quantity is again sufficient for 2.. I was feeling a bit tough to send into my stomach since quantity was good enough.
Pricing : this turns Hao Hao a goldilocks choice than Hao ming which very near competitive place here n Chinese cuisines. Price here is a bit appreciable.
Ambience : they are Chinese themed restaurant, with art work inside with a fish tank and air conditioned one. But during night time u can't find the exact texture and color of the dish since lighting is a bit dark here.
They have chopstick here, which Hao ming doesn't have. I love to eat in chop sticks.
Parking : u have some place to park vehicles in night time. But during day time I have no idea for 4 wheelers.
A must try place when it comes to the Chinese food. This place gives you mouth watering Chinese food in pocket friendly budget. Location and ambience is not good because there's no parking space and decent seating. Best for take away or home delivery. Thai crispy chicken and shin min chicken rice is one of my favourite orders. Good place for school/college crowd to hangout.
Weird to see such a low rating. Hao Hao serves consistently good food. They lack the more high end decor of their immediate competition, Hao Ming but that doesn't mean the atmosphere is bad in any way. And the food is delicious! Good quantity, great rates.
Chicken clear soup + Thai crunchy chicken + Shinmin rice with sweet & sour chicken sauce is the must try of this place π
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 4/5
Taste : 4.5/5
If you want to drink something really hot & not spicy but tasty then chicken clear soup is the solution !
Chicken starter you might have tasted many but do try their thai "crunchy" chicken where you find chicken pieces fried with noodles around it which gives it a crispy texture & drooling taste π
Shinmin rice is just heavenly π
Rice topped with egg mixture surrounded by sweet & sour sauce of chicken or prawn or both π
A very old brand when it comes to Chinese food served in Mangalore located at the busy streets of Balmatta. Parking is a trouble and is best if you could find a spot around, if not close.
Not the best in terms of ambience and seating but gives you a feel of medival China to some extent. The waiters and servers are friendly and have been around for a looong time.
The food simply stands out with its signature style classic dishes. Ones to watch out for (pork lovers).
Pork Roast - finely sliced delicate pieces of pork roasted with a fine sauce which gives you a feeling of sweet wine over spices. One of the best pork roast ai have ever had. Stands out 5/5...!!
Sapo Style Pork - pork meat tossed in diced cubes of veggies with a unique saucy taste of Chinese flavors. My second best pork dish and one of my all time favourites. Stands out 4.5/5...!!
The Mother of Hao Ming, same menu but more in quantity. Just as Hao Ming, the Thai Crunchy Chicken, Shin Min Fried Rice and Hao Hao Special Fried Rice are really great. Ambience is quite good for a date and even a dinner with friends
I think it's one of the first restuarant i was taken to . By taken to I mean I was a kid !! All I knew was noodles and soup . If I had a watery eyes at the end of it , I knew I have had Chinese. As I grew up the place got congested and it became a budget Haven for students and bacchalis like me . Taste wise very similar to Hao Ming . The menu is similar too. Basically good for a good price . Ambience is the same .. I like the dim lights . Thai crispy is my go to dish #happyhogging !!
As I do not reside in the main city during my vacations my knowledge about the food is minimal. I did some searching and this place seemed to be quite a hit when it comes to Indian Chinese. We ordered for delivery at my relatives place. Food arrived on time and in good packaging which is kind of a shocker for me since I haven't witnessed food delivery in India before. Our order was the family's staple order - chicken fried rice, chicken manchurian, sweet corn soup, dumplings/momos and the American chopsuey. Everything was really good since I had really low expectations from this place. Kind of a surprise but this is the first time I had the American chopsuey and I have no idea why I haven't tried this before. If you compare it then it's kind of similar to the Chinese bhel atleast what I could conclude of it.
My hubby introduced me to this awesome place knowing I love Chinese food. I'm so happy he did. Hao Hao is always our 1st choice for home delivery & always on our top5 when we wish to go out for dinner. Hao Hao Spl Noodles, Chicken Machurian Dry, Roast Pork and Pork Chilly are must-try's :-) Drums of Heaven (Chicken Lollipops) are really nice too! Amazing quantity and total value for money. The food has always tasted great and we've absolutely no complaints. I do wish the lighting and ambience of the restaurant could be better but we almost always order for home delivery, so it actually doesn't matter to me :-)
Everything is good its π & a good amount of drums of heaven are there but a few change should be done like the other raunak in the review i am different but i agree with everything he has to say
Hao hao is a wonderful restaurant the food is its amazing but if u order the chicken hakka π u dont see chicken at all only a few u can see & the chicken is hot so in conclusion its great but small changes will make it better
Thai fried chicken, chicken chilly, Hunan chicken, drums of heaven, Hao Hao spl rice/ noodles, mixed rice/ noodles & paneer manchurian are very good π
Majorly dark and slightly dingy and shady looking at first sight. But the place is quite a hit among people in and around mangalore. The food is a generously indian version of Chinese food. That is they don't shy away from spices and taste makers! Slightly oily at times.. so not exactly for the health conscious. The manchow soup and one of their special rices are a standard order for us. The portion sizes are really large.. and the prices reasonable. A great place for quick. .. pocket friendly lunches and dinners.
Nice place with decent ambience. Its been there for years. The food here is really good value for money. I have tried American chopsuey, Shin min special rice and the taste was delicious π. A nice place if you have a low budget for the evening π
This place is like a boon for Chinese food lovers in Mangalore! The shin min rice is heavenly and we get a huge quantity and for such a reasonable price! And the chicken / prawns they add is super tasty! Apart from this, the Thai crispy chicken is a worthy winner! But I still feel that the thai crispy chicken in Hao Ming is still better to my tongue, but the shin min rice here is unbeatable! Even the Hao Hao special noodles is really good. Have been loving their food for long now! The ambience on the other hand is simple , don't expect much, but go there without thinking anymore if you want to have chinese food!
Feel good Chinese with an Indian twist. Has been there from ages. Cost effective and friendly staff. My review is based on my experience visiting this place more than a decade ago. Will surely check it out when am in Mangalore next!
One of the best places in Mangalore , Even though I reside in Bangalore , whenever i drop into Mangalore the first place that comes to my mind is Hao Hao, every dish is wonderful. the crispy chicken, pork roast, hot pepper chicken, Prawn chilli, squid chilli are my all time favourites. The ambience is cosy and wonderful, the pleasant smile of the waiter whenever we drop by is also an added point.Hao Hao is wow wow...
I have had so many lunches and dinners here and have tried most of the dishes on the menu which were very good, very indo Chinese styled food.good and friendly staff
Hao hao one of d the oldest n well known place for Chinese food... a small but well designed restaurant... I ordered hot n sour soup, Thai crispy chicken n hao hao special fried... soup was worst soup I have tasted... thumbs down for soup... Thai crispy chicken n rice were very tasty... full marks for both...
Reasonable and good taste!
I had been here long long ago it's very close to my gmoms place.
I would visit this place probably very very soon.
I've had mixed experiences with Hao Hao, sometimes the food wasn't Upto the mark. But those were very rare instances. My favourite items here are the Singapore noodles the honey spicy chicken and the pork chilly. Prices are very economical and service is good as well. Disclaimer : all this is about 3 years back that's when I left mangalore.
It's a pretty comfy place.. The much recommended shinmin rice and thai spicy noodles din't fail to impress us. But the wine chicken had some kind of a weird taste..dint like it much! Overall it's a good place.
Good place for Chinese lovers :) must try wine chicken...
Not many options for vegetarians but still the available options are very good..
One bad thing is it does not serve alcohol
Value for money...Have been here a lot of times..good place for chinese food..must try shinmin rice, ying yang rice...order one dish for 2 people as the quantity is pretty good..they have some amazing starters too...
food 5/5, ambience 3.5/5, service 5/5...
Very nice place to get some good Chinese food. Chicken satay is a must try in the starters. Main course is pretty decent. The Fried Ice Cream should not be missed in order to complete the meal.
Hao Hao and Hao Ming are two AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurants in Mangalore. As a matter of preference, I like Hao Hao much better than Hao Ming. Been eating here for the past 12 years, and the taste, quantity and prices have all been consistent all these years. The place is slightly cramped up though, not a great place for a large group.
Try their dragon chicken, chicken wanton and Shin Min Rice... Quite tasty.
Though the place is really small and congested, I love their food whic is good very good price. Service is average. Hao Hao special noodles is a must try. Other dishes are also quite great.
Offshoot of a popular Chinese hangout howming at Mangalore. Ambience is nothing great and is quite dimly lit u get an 8 o clock feel in the afternoon itself. The food is typical Chinese fare but the best part of this place is that they pork preps that rates among the best ones in town.the quantity is generous and the fare is decently priced.taste is good but nothing that is a gastronomical delight. Would recommend this place to anyone who wouldn't mind trying your regular no frills Chinese fare.dont expect the moon and the sky And u won't be disappointed.
Must try: hao hao special fried rice , chicken chilly, pork chili.
Grew up eating from here! Have to give them a 4.0 at . Lot of sentimental food value here ! Wish they had one in Bangalore as well! Great Chinese food
Value for money... Hao Hao has been around for many years and yes the flavour and taste has come down with age but I feel it still holds a special place in our hearts.. For Chinese food, it's always Hao Hao..
