I was on vacation in areas nearby Mukteshwar but I didn't get authentic Kumaon food anywhere! Finally Kumaon platter in the main menu of this restaurant satisfied my taste buds
My place to go for breakfast - lunch - dinner and when lazy to have the food delivered by the boys. Innovative open and hospitable
The setting is beautiful, the service was impeccable, the food was expertly prepared & beautifully presented, with great attention to details. I will surely come back with family & friends.
Café Chandi Mati is a beautiful place nestled in the scenic valley of Mukteshwar which serves excellent food and has nice ambience. I went there with my friends for lunch after visiting Mukteshwar Dham. I shortlisted the place in our itinerary and I am glad it was worth it. The café has superb food from taste to quality, ambience is peaceful and one can have great scenic views from balcony which overlooks forest area. It’s on the main road and must try if you are visiting Mukteshwar.

This cafe was in my bucket list since I chalked this trip out. I've been visiting Mukteshwar as a kid and it's refreshing to see quite a few cafes and restaurants here promoting local cuisine.
Chandi Maati is a cute little place, tucked away from the hustle bustle. The establishment is new and super cosy. They have an outside dining as well as an inside seating area. I'd recommend the outside obviously. Go for the Kumaoni Thali. If you're a non-vegetarian, order a portion of either chicken or mutton curry (Kumaoni) to eat alongwith the thali. But do not miss the thali.
Ofcourse there are Kumaoni families which would cater you to better food. I've grown with one. But this thali is a great introduction to Kumaoni food in case you've never had it. The thali has Kumaoni Raita, Bhatt ki dal ki chudkani, Aloo ke Guttke served with Madua (Ragi) Roti, plain rice, ghee, papad and Bhaang ke beej ki chutney. Each dish has its own unique flavour and the ghee just makes it better!
The mutton curry was so well made. The mutton pieces were big and flesh was perfectly cooked. We even ended up packing some back. The coffee is pretty decent as well!
Do not forget to tell food allergies if any before you place your orders!
This has to be one of the best food experiences in Kumaon region for me and the simple answer for that is the quality of the food.
We went to this place for lunch after visiting Mukteshwar Dham. The place was on our list as we found out this place from popular restaurant review websites and this place did not disappoint us.
The food is superb. Everything. Not even a single dish was ok or average. Specially the non-veg food they prepare. It's finger licking good. The quantity of the food is also commensurate to the price you pay given the experience they are providing.
And while you are there, do sit on the balcony overlooking forest area. Albeit, they have invested in interiors too.
The only above average part was the service, but again I think it was just our waiter. I checked with a few other guests and they had no complaints about service from them.
Overall, a must visit place if you are in Mukteshwar. You won't be disappointed.
Tried Kumauni Thali and Kumauni Chicken curry. Absolutely loved the taste, preparation and presentation. Would highly recommend everyone to must visit this cafe and try the local cuisine.
Lovely cafe amidst forest...
We stayed ~ 15 kms away, but came here after hearing from a few friends about it..
Totally worth it..
Do try Apple Jalebi, Soup, Kurkure sabudana.. loved it! Amazing service as well!!
One word for this place… Toothsome!!
This place I can say is the best food joint in Mukteshwar (Sargakhet).
Something about this place: the interior boasts of the cultural roots of Kumaon.
They also promote handcrafted bags designed by underprivileged women of the town.
Coming to the food:
From starters to desserts, our experience remained immaculate. Our favourite out of all the dishes we tried were Ghee Mutton and The Apple Jalebi (must try).
The price is very reasonable and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Mukteshwar.

Cafe Chandi Mati has its old world charm with a seating outside overlooking hills and inside with twinkling lights, soft music and homely vibes ❤ We had Kumaoni thali and one of the artisan coffees (Attikan Estate Chikmangalur). Loved it.
Ordered something unique i dint find anywhere till yet. Taste was really good. Amazing place to try something local.
Beautiful place nestled in the scenic valleys of Mukteshwar. Apple Jalebi should be tried: it may be a hit or miss, but worth trying!
Must go place to eat if you are in Mukteshwar. Food is made to order and the ambience is great. We had Kumaoni thali, Kathal Biryani, cheese pizza, Apple Jalebi, mango gol gappe. All were great. We returned for the Kumaoni Thali - not to be missed! Staff is friendly and service is good. Don’t be in a hurry if you are here. Just enjoy the ambience whether sitting outside or inside and enjoy the food.
