Best place for sea food lover. It is located on hill road . It’s a small and congested restaurant however the food is to die for. I had ordered their famous bharla bombil, pomfret fry , pomfret pulimunchi, pomfret thali and clams thali. The bharla bombil is stuffed with prawns and then deep fried. It’s little heavy but very tasty. Pomfret fry and pulimunchi was very nice. Their thali comprises of fried fish , fish curry, sol kadhi , rice and chapati or neer dosa. Fish and clams were really fresh. Even the sol kadhi is very refreshing. The service is really quick. Overall a paisa vasol lunch.

It was delicious because inside the bombil they had green stuffing. Never tasted a bombay duck this tasty.

They ask you the size of the pomfret by showing you on the table. We chose the 1k one. It was cooked to perfection! I would eat it all alone if given a choice❤️
3) Prawns Hirva Masala: 5/5
This was again so delicious. Green masala isn’t available everywhere thats why ordered it but really happy with this decision. Must order if you’re looking something to eat with Neer dosa.
4) Methi Malai Matar: 4.5/5
It was also good but with a little bit of a sweet taste. But this dish is meant to be mild and so this was too but great quality overall.
5) Sol Kadhi: 3/5
I have tasted better Sol kadhi before. This could have been more flavourful.

This is my all time favourite restaurant for sea food. It always satisfies my seafood cravings.
This was my 1st visit at this outlet. But I must say that the food they serve is fresh and delicious just like Dadar west outlet.
But like other outlets, this place is also small and was crowded. On this part, they surely need to improvise their service with respect to the number of people visit here.
Here, we had ordered following dishes.
1. Tandoori Crab - 4/5 They served it with salad and it was mouthwatering. Though they didn't provide the crab cracker, but upon asking they helped in breaking the crab bones.
2. Bombil fry - 3.5/5 Bombil was fresh and tasty but they should have served it with either salad or chutney and lemon is must with the fried fish.
3. Prawns tawa masala - 5/5 highly recommended.
4. Bhakari - 4/5
5. Malwani wade - 5/5 They serve best malwani wade.
6. Salted lime soda - 5/5. It was perfect, the way we wanted..
This is the 2nd time I visited this place with my family and it was truly blissful. The 1st time disappointed us a bit because we ordered fish thali and didn't turn out to be best but this time it's was super good. We ordered chicken sukka thali with prawns fry thali and Sol kadi which they are too good at. The thali was plenty for more than 1 person which makes it more worth ordering for.
Overall the ambience is good. It might get crowded occasionally but the food is really good. We enjoyed the food.

Ordered food from here when I was craving hot Marathi/Konkani food! Being from Delhi, mughlai in Bombay wouldn’t do for me. So we ordered from here and the mutton Kolhapuri blew my mind! The surmai was real yum too!! Have them with neer dosa as was recommended to us and we ended up having a brilliant dinner! Much recommended.

I not only order from Jai Hind a few times during the month but I visit the place and the food is phenomenal. The best place to get a decent prawn curry and appam. Don't miss the prawn tawa masala and bombil fry. Except for the fact that they are a tiny restaurant (so space is a issue - and waiting is involved ) I have no complaints with this place
With no doubt, this place is a gem for seafood lovers :).. When in Mumbai I can never miss dropping here for a satisfying meal.

We heard about thier famous seafood so ordered Prawns Masala Thali and Mutton Sukka Thali.
Prawns Masala Thali was ordered with Wade (Masala Puri), Thali contains small bowl of rice, Chapati/Wade/roti, non veg curry, gravy and flavoured butter milk.
Prawns Masala Thali was great with right masalas and stricking right chords on your taste buds
Mutton Sukka Thali was also awesome on Taste the meat was soft and tender.
I have ordered one extra Chaas
To end the meal we have ordered caramel custard which was great too.

Amazing sea food served here, the quantity of fish in the thali was good. We ordered stuffed bombil, prawns thali, includes fried prawns, Sol kadi, fish curry, rice and you can combine it with neer dosa or chapati. We also ordered pomfret Goan curry with steamed rice and finished our dinner with a dessert..caramel custard. Staff was quick and kind.
Jai Hind is one of the most popular restaurant as far as sea food is concerned. It has total 5 outlets in Mumbai. Specially this place is famous for Kokani Food Lovers! The have a decent seating arrangement but the seating is not important as food diverts it! Visited this place on Saturday night and it was pretty much full! I am love in this place as far as Sea food is concerned.

Popular for its exclusive Konkani seafood cuisines, we decided to hit the place on a Sunday. When we reached the place, hunger pangs were driving us crazy. As with all, popular places, we are greeted by a queue with a waiting time of 40 mins. A momentary solace was the queue manager took our order while waiting. But why MOMENTARY then? Its because even after getting our table, we had to wait for the food like we have not ordered earlier. We ordered prawn thali, prawn hirwa and bhakri. Food was finger licking. Hirwa tasted like thai green curry. Quantity is commendable. Prawn in the thali was good too. Oh yes, we also ordered, jal jeera. Two glasses. I guess you can guess, it was refreshing.Overall nice. I want to try some pomfrets grilled next time. It was actually huge. So two people need to finish. Overall 4/5.

Jai Hind Lunch Home one of the finest restaurants I have been to. Service,food,ambience every thing was upto mark. I went with my friend there we had chicken kolhapuri & chappati and the taste of it was superrrrrbbbbbb and mainly spicy 🌶, I loved it you must visit there highly recommend.
I’ve been to this place with my girlfriend (now wife) a few times and have enjoyed the food served every time, their bombil fry and the fish thali is a must have, I highly recommend these 2 dishes, there was a pomfret fish we ordered which was some steamed variant in a leaf etc but it tasted fab.

Love this place. I keep going back here for the absolutely yummy food. Their thali’s are absolutely gorgeous! We love their chicken and prawn sukha thali. Their bombil fry is again something you don’t want to miss. Their crab peeps are heavenly, as is their prawn delicacies. I have had surmai fry a couple of times and that was awesome too. Visited this place many times in the past... Amazing food.. Taste like home. Made typical konkan style food.. Service is excellent.. The only concern is its a good place but there is no. Washroom... Which is surprising... Also the space could have been a little big as many people try to avoid going to this place as there is no washroom... Had lunch here a few days back. It's a nice small place. They specialise in sea food. When we went the restaurant was under renovation. But it didn't disappoint us with the food experience.
We tried Chicken Tandoori, cafreal chicken, Chicken Tawa masala n butter naan. The tandoori was really really tasty and was the best that day. It was our first time trying chicken cafreal and it was a little sour and I didn't like it. The food service was ok. They can try to improve. Overall good experience
Oh yeah for all the seafood lovers a must try place as it has the yummest seafood and also everything they cook is yummy. You will most of the time find waiting there specially weekends but worth a wait. We tried Bombil Thali (i personally recommend all), Chicken thali, Chicken tandoori, Chicken lolipop. Service is good as they have big staff. And yess the pricing is quite appropriate not to high or low.

Amazing food.. We ordered bombil fry sandwich (which was extremely yummy) , prawns fry thali (in which the were nice and big, specially they were not at all oily), then we had surmai fry thali (in that surmai was so perfectly fried, again it wasn’t oily and also it was fresh), we also had mutton thali ( mutton was just on point was not under cooked nor over cooked just perfect) and last but not the least ; being Maharashtrian i had to taste the solkadi, which was just amazing. Just a small negative point that the service was a bit slow but Overall the experience was wonderful. Waiting to visit again.😁
This place is a hidden gem in Mumbai. The Ambience is nice, but the place is too small. But the food is excellent. Stuffed Bombil, Crab Masala, Prawns Masala, Solkadi, Tandoor Ravas are what I liked the most. Just very impressed with the taste. The server was also very polite.

One of the very few places serving Konkani style seafood in Mumbai, I just love the casual vibe of the place and not to forget the fast service.
The prawn thali and the mutton thali were very filling for one person. I replaced the rice with neer dosa and you also get the kokum curry to digest the delicious food.
Jai Hind Lunch Home is a go-to place for the seafood lovers, special mention the tandoori prawns! Absolutely yum the best I have had so far!

Visited for a dinner here after a year long time. This place never disappoints my hunger for sea food. It is usually packed all time of day which calls for waiting but not much. On my recent visit, we tired some of their signature dishes like bombil sandwich which was 2 fried bombil slices with minced prawns stuffing inside it. The prawns in ghee roast preparation was too good that goes really well with their soft neer dosa. The service is good while the team helps you pair up the dishes good.

Being a tourist in Mumbai, I wanted to try the local Malvani Cuisine, the standard cuisine of the South Konkan region of Maharashtra and Goa.
We ordered the Surmai Machhi Fry, Prawn Meen Gassi with Neer Dosa and Prawn Malvani with Garlic Butter Naan.
The Surmai Machhi Fry was served on a banana leaf and was accompanied with a green mint chutney. It was fried perfectly- crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the masala was delicious. The chutney was tasty also.
The Prawn Meen Gassi was delicious as well. It has a distinct coconut flavor and it can be had with a neer dosa or rice, since it's a gravy.
The Prawn Malvani was delicious. Its a thick gravy which we had with butter garlic naan. The Naan was piping hot and freshly baked with the aroma of the garlic wafting in the air.
Overall, great seafood in a good price.

Prawns Koliwada:-Battered Prawns deep fried. They were so crisp. So delicious. Excellent prawns . A must order.
Fish Tikka:-The fish was well marinated with proper ingredients,Pieces of fish were medium sized. Liked the softness of the fish.
Chicken malai tikka:-This was so tender and juicy . Though it was a little bit sweet,I loved it.
Stuffed cheese mushrooms:-My all time favourite veg starter. It was just awesome. Loaded and stuffed with cheese. A must try.

As you enter and sit down at the table, the smallness of place and the smallness of the table hits you, but you forget everything once your meal arrives. We were three of us; so we ordered 3 different thalis - Bombil, Bangda and Prawn Malwani Masala. All were good; the Bombil had just the right crispness; the prawn pickle that they serve in each thali was yummy; the Sol Kadi was fab (at other restaurants, I have left it after having a spoon or two). I only wish the rice would be a little more; the curries are so tasty that we really felt like having a wee bit more of rice.

Jai Hind Lunch Home: This place is especially meant for all those you just love seafood. The entire seafood category is prepared into regional categories like Goan & Karnataka prep. The ambiance is not that fancy but has a decent comfortable seating with a well-equipped air conditioner.
Started off my meal with a Surmai Tawa Fry which was very huge. Indeed it was fresh and tasted heavenly with the green chutney.
Stuff Crab was the next best thing. If you love crabs then it should be on your table for sure. Two medium sized crab shells were stuffed with crab meat and were so delicious. /
Next up ordered for a Bombil Sandwich which was stuffed with mini prawns and loved every bit of it. It was so good that I ended up ordering one more. Worth a try.
For my main course, went with a serving a Prawns Pulimuchi with neer dosa and appam as accompaniment. Basically, Pulimunchi is a Mangalorean dish prepared with tamarind & spices. The spice level was ultimate and was just the way I wanted it to be. The portion was good enough for 2 people.
Solkadi was undoubtedly the best beverage to go along with my food.
Ended my meal with a plate of indulging Caramel Custard, don't miss it out.

This iconic and famous restaurant has been situated on the streets of Bandra for years and is known for its coastal delights – seafood. Yes, that’s right, its Jai Hind Lunch Home.
Having visited their outlet on Hill Road on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, this place was packed to capacity and how. A two-level dining space, this restaurant is all about the simple pleasures in life and the food is worth it all.
In spite of the crowd, the service was quick and the staff members were helpful and courteous. They ensured that our meal arrived on time and gave us some good suggestions. The menu is vast and you’ll surely be spoilt for choice. Here’s a brief of how our meal went:
1) Sol Kadhi – One of the BEST I’ve had so far. A Lovely tanginess from the kokam and jeera masala and just the perfect proportion of coconut milk to kokam. It was topped off with fresh coriander leaves. It was absolutely refreshing and you will definitely not stop at one glass. Would be a crime to miss. Highly recommended.
2) Masala Pappad – Crisp roasted papad topped with spices and tomato, onion, coriander and lemon. Love the crunch of the papad and the tomato-onion salsa on top of it. Tasted almost like a chaat. Was tangy, spicy, sour and fresh. Loved it. A must try. Highly recommended.
3) Stuffed Crab - Crab meat sautèed in Indian masalas. Love the sweetness from the crab meat and the best part, this appetizer wasn't messy as you usually assume crab to be! Tasted good.
4) Ajadina Clams (Tisrya) – Fresh shellfish sautéed and pan seared in a fresh coconut gravy which was like the traditional Sukka recipe. The shellfish were tiny and thereby very soft and just melted in the mouth. We love the fact that it wasn’t rubbery. Absolutely LOVED this. This was our FAVORITE dish of the day. Highly recommended.
5) Butter Pepper Garlic Prawns – Well, you can blindly order this dish and you will not be disappointed. Tender and juicy prawns in a rich, thick and comforting butter pepper garlic sauce. Surely, comfort food at its best. Highly recommend.
6) Surmai Fry – Fresh surmai marinated in masalas and fried to perfection. The fish was fresh and served warm. Tasted good.
7) Pomfret Hirva Masala – An authentic green curry which is a delicacy in the Konkan coast. It is made using fresh herbs. A rich, thick gravy which has a nice tanginess to it. Their portions are really generous and they served this gravy along with an entire medium-sized pomfret fish. The Pomfret was soft, warm and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed this with fresh, hot and uber soft appams which we loved!
8) Caramel Custard – A generous portion of caramel custard topped with caramel. It was smooth, soft and creamy. Tasted good.
On the whole, the food and service at Jai Hind Lunch Home surely exceeded our expectations. The portion sizes are generous and prices are pretty reasonable. Will surely be coming back to try out some of the other dishes on their menu. Value for money! A must visit.

Jai Hind Lunch homes, restaurant that almost all have heard, seen or atleast been once. It's a legacy that's going on and on from more than a decade. This fine-dining restaurant is located a little before the Hill Road market area towards your right, quite easy to locate.
The restaurant is cozy with wooden furnishing. More than the place it's the food and the service that speaks. JaiHind known to serve variety of flavours, having experienced kitchens, with well-trained staff makes the restaurant quite a well-known name in the city.
Here's what all I tried;
Surmai Tawa (Jumbo Slice): Fresh slice of Surmai (King's Fish) is properly tawa fried and served on a banana leaf; quite appetizing and delectable.
Bombil Sandwich: Bombil slice opened wide and stuffed with small prawns cooked in green chutney, served just like a sandwich. The kind you shouldn't miss.
Sol Kadi and Kokum Soda: Both the drinks goes perfectly well with the food and is quite refreshing.
For mains, we had Pulimunchi: Fresh Pomfret simmered in a tangy thick gravy, garnished with slit green chillies and served with Neer Dosa. Spicy and tangy, a perfect meal to have.
Ajadina: Seasoned prawns are pan-fried in Mangaloreon style and garnished with onion rings and coriander and goes well with Appam.
Though, I wanted to try more, but their quantity is quite good to make you full just in a few dishes.

This joint is amongst my personal favourites in Bandra.
We’ve tried majority of the dishes over the years and every time we have enjoyed our meals.
This time we got to try their stuffed crab which was quite amazing.
Our regular orders included the Surmai Tava Fry, Butter Garlic Prawns, Prawns Koliwada and their Mutton Thali.
Their vade and curry are a treat.
Coming to the service, we’ve always enjoyed our time there while dining, no complains till date and very professional and top notch.
Jai Hind Lunch Home is a pocket friendly, tasty sea food restaurant. As the space is quite small, it's better to reserve a table if you are meeting friends.
Have been here a couple of times, with friends and Family, I always end up ordering a Bombil fry. It's fresh, crisp and fried well.
The prawn thali is also very good.
The waiting Staff are pleasant. Waiting to go back to Mumbai and have some yum seafood at Jai Hind. 😋

Visited this iconic place yesterday for dinner. 11 years old and still going strong shows the love patrons have for them. Small place, divided into two sections with capacity of 80 seating. Simple ambiance with good seating. Service is very good. Pricing compliments food quality, quantity, service, ambience and location.
I tried few dishes like Tandoori Pomfret, Sol Kadhi (heavenly), Bombil (Bombay Duck) fry, Prawns Ghee Roast, Crab Shell, Sea Food Thali (Surmai Fish, Rice, Chapati, Prawns pickle, Curry) & Caramel Custard as dessert.
Trust me each dish was super delicious. The masala, the gravy, the marination everything was on point. Apart from Sea Food they also serve chicken and mutton dishes.
This place is Sea Food lover paradise. I highly recommend them. Go Fishy !!
One of my favorite sea food restaurant's to go to when in Mumbai.The perfect place to grab a meal after some street shopping on Hill road.I ordered a prawn thali which was great.The prawns were very tasty.If you're in Bandra and are in the mood for some seafood this place should be on your radar.
So we ordered one chicken lollipop, squid in butter garlic sauce and one prawns malvan thali... The food was good and tasty but the prawns were overcooked.... Like way tooo overcooked. The place is hygienic... The only weird thing was that they served us the prawns thali and squid first and later came the chicken lollipop... Like halfway we were done with thali....

This is one of the finest restaurant I have been to. Service, food, ambience.. Everything was fine and perfect. I went here with my mumma for dinner and tried only 1 dish that was Chicken kolhapuri & Chappati. Also, we ordered masala pappad. The food was as tasty & spicy as I expected. Waiters were polite and helpful. I love the place,decor & food. Must try..

A petit restaurant with great food is what best describes Jai Hind Lunch Home. Located at the very beginning of the fashion destination of Bandra (Hill Road) this place is definitely going to be my go to place for lunch before I hit the street.👗
We have tried both veg as well as non veg options. They have a wide variety of seafood and non veg options with a descent amout of vegetarian options.
What we ate & how I liked it💁:
🌱 Paneer Tikka Masala with chappati (perfectly marinated and extremely soft paneer in a tikka masala gravy, it was delicious❤)
🐓 Tandoori chicken(half)
🐳 (As this place is known for its seafood,how could we not try that!) So, Prawns Malwani Masala and Shells.
Both the 🐓&🐳 were cooked very well. Prawns was my favourite out of everything we had.

The place is like I said petit in structure, with ground +1 floor yet it fits around 7 covers and enough space to enjoy your food at peace. The interiors are well done.
The service was quick and the staff, polite.
P.S hoping to try out more such amazing food next time.

Lovely seafood joint!
Our favorites are normally the Stuffed Bombay duck (bharla bombil) and stuffed crab!
However, at our last visit here, the crab wasn't available...so we ordered for thalis.
The thalis are priced differently for each type.
We has the Surmai(salmon) thali, Tisrya(clams) thali and Bombil (Bombay duck) thali.
Each thali had a serving of seafood,a bowl of rice, a bowl of curry, a bowl of sol kadi, a papad and a choice of chapati, roti or neer dosa. We all opted for neer dosas and they were quite decent.

Highly recommended and a place I love coming back to.
An unassuming place with a waiting of about 10-15 min most of the times.
The staff is friendly, courteous and quick.
A small place but I love to see how they manage their way around seamlessly.
Now for the food, a fairly good variety in the menu, for those who love sea food, don’t miss out on this place.
Being a prawn lover, I have tried most of their prawn dishes - prawns agri fry, tawa masala, rawa fry being my favourites. Consistent they certainly are in their quality, portion size too is good enough.
Highly recommend the Patra-nu-macchhi - never had it like the way the prepare anywhere else. The fish is steamed in a slightly tangy green batter in the banana leaf and is one of their best preparations.
The Sol Kadi is the mighty elixir of life if I could add a synonym to it. Refreshing, hydrating and made well.
Though the food is little high on spices and oil, so for those looking to eat healthy, may choose to avoid a lot of items specially the deep fried ones.
Do try the thali or any curry dish with the neer dosa - instead of bhakri.
Have been here couple of times, nothing that has left us disappointed, pretty much a good experience always. It is a standard setup and the charm is its simplicity, while they focus on quality.

While touring in Bandra west I saw the same same Branch which I tried couple of times before in Bandra East as I m staying near to that place and we had planned to go to the same place today as well as but I was excited to experience this same Branch place.
Ambience was nice and perfect for a complete family dinner but at the same time too small and compact too which were holing the people out on wait list.Very first experience match to the East branch but here to save the time and rotate the tables faster I have been given the menu to place the order, so as soon as u grab the table ur food arrives. And it was actually helpful for us too as we were very hungry, on that waiting for a long to grab the seat.
Service was nice and quick, In food we ordered Prawn Masala and Surmai Fry......Prawn Masala was nice but frankly saying I enjoyed the same thing in East Branch but the Surmai Fry was just Amazing. It was made exactly the way I asked for. Perfectly season with spices and fried to the perfection with soft and juicy inside and nicely crusted from out.

It's famous for sea food. I was hear about this place. Taste is good quantity is not good. we order bombil fry thali. Surmai thali, chicken platter and etc... Food is tasty and worth it in low budget pocket..... Please reserve table before you go....

Have visited Jai Honda number of times and today was just another lunch outing. This is a very tiny space so please call ahead and try to be there on time.
What can I say about the sea food here. It is literally do die for. YUM after Yum. We started off with the Sol Kurry which right of the bat could be the best sol Kurry in mumbai. Next Bombil Dry YUM again top quality. You get 3 pieces in one serving priced at Rs 210. Next item I tried for the first time Agri fry prawns slightly spicy but this masala was unreal. Malwani personified yum but spicy pls beware. 5 decent sized shrimp for Rs 500.
Now for main course we went for RAWAS deboned cooked in this YUM pullimunchi gravy (thick). Oh man this was bang on as well. Accompanied by neer dosa (made of rice flour) and Rice Bhakri (similar to neer dosa but dry texture similar to roti I preferred this today) but neer dosa is yum as well. This came for Rs 1000 but the portion was humungous. 4 of us barely managed to finish the dish. I think the serving size and pricing can be discussed before ordering.
Prawn biryani today lacked that punch it always has. It was not piping hot either although we were assured it was freshly prepared. Not bad at all, but due to the flavour bomb in all other dishes this one lacked the flavour.
Overall ton any given day I would recommend Jai hind to sea food lovers. I doubt many other places in mumbai or goa can replicate some of the flavours here. Service was EXCELLENT thanks to Shehzad Ali. He was perfect right from the start from suggestions, serving to overall execution. Cheers guys ! Keep it up !!!

This place is really awesome for its food especially for their non veg thalis are awesome. My favourite is Bheja fry thali and the fish thali .only one thing which puts my mood off is that in deserts they have only one dish Caramel custard . The rest of my experience was awesome .
Great food. Lip smacking and fresh. However space is small n congested. I was standing outside in queue for longer time (weekday night) than the actual time of seating and eating.. as they take order when you are in queue.. so once you sit food comes immediately and you are hungry and then there is a pressure to eat fast as everywhere serving fast eating fast leaving fast cramped space. So this works best for a seafood quick meal. Taste is fabulous
Overhyped place I think. I have to admit that the seafood is fresh and the place is absolutely hygienic. Taste-wise it's good..but not wonderful.
We were 2 adults and 1 ten year old who visited this place for dinner on Thursday night. It was relatively full but we could find a table instantly.

Honestly both the bombil dishes were overpriced for the qty provided. Taste wise also food is just good.. Nothing great. I've had better tasting bombil fry from local caterers in Andheri.
All of us have v low appetite so we were too full to try any thalis. But I was quite disappointed as had read too much and heard too much about this place.
It is exactly opposite to the Hill Road shopping lane. It is a small place with upper and lower deck seating arrangements. But if you are a seafood lover, then you are at the right place. Things to try here are Barlela Bombil, squid ghee roast, Prawns malwani tawa fry, Prawns Tandoori, Pomfret Tawa fry, Clams sukkah, Prawns pulav.... It is a seafood feast here. Pocket friendly and food tastes good. They have branches in bandra, lower parel also. Must visit...

The Patrani fish (steamed in green masala) is to die for. Butter Prawn were perfectly cooked and so was the Bombil fry.
They have a mezzanine floor but be prepared for a few minutes wait, before you are seated.
One of the best for seafood lovers.. we ordered bombil thali and masala prawn thali super delicious. Value for money. Highly recommended. Will be visiting soon to try some more delicious dishes.
I tried chicken lapeta kabab it was very delicious. Also trying biryani but it is okay. When I visited the place it was very quiet and peaceful.
The place is great for some malvani, maharashtrian cusine, lots of choices for sea food lovers and non vegetarian people, although this place also has vegetarian options too, the place is jam packed on weekends so do expect a wait time of 30-40 minutes. The Sol kadhi was too sweet for our liking , the bombil fry was good but a bit too oily. The prawns in the curry were good but a bit chewy. The caramel custard was good.
