Trishna is hands down the King of seafood in Mumbai! Have visited all tge competition and in my opintion there is just no competition to what they are serving.
Trishna located in the now trendy back lanes of Khala Ghoda is no frills, basic, clean interior, do not expect wow interiors, this place is about what is coming out of the kitchen.
The selection is tremendous and everything I have ever had here is fresh and the best selection possible. I am a big fan mainly of the crabs. I have indulged on most of the preparations bit have finally settled on what I find to be the best. . .the Chettinad!!! I also recommend the fish tikka selections, they have amazing king tiger prawns that basically can be ordered 1 per person, they are monsters!!
Service is attentive and can be a little pushy on upsells so know what you want and stick to it. Prices are on the higher side but I personally find it completly worth it as they are the only game at this level.

Having heard so much about Trishna, i finally decided to visit this place with an hardcore sea food lover friend of mine. We started off with a beer (Rs 500) followed by Fish pakoras (basa) (approx 700) and Prawns Butter Garlic (900 ++). Drinks are priced on a higher side, the reason being this placed is frequented by expats and true-blue office goers. Getting back to the starters, Prawns Butter Garlic was one of the best i have ever tasted. Don't miss this dish if you ever plan to visit this place. Fish pakoras were very average like normal bhajiyas. Main course consisted of Pomfret Kolhapuri (1890) which again was average along with rotis. As a whole, a gang of 6 is advisable for enjoying their variety of dishes. Prices are on a higher side, but you pay for their nice ambience and fresh and tasty seafood.
If you are a seafood lover, this place is a must visit!

Great place for sea food, authentic and fresh food!! The bombil Fry (Bombay Duck) is really succulent and fresh catch. Try the kaali Miri or pepper fish tikki, it is the most popular dish and I would highly recommend that dish.
Well, this place was quite the discovery when I took my cousins out for seafood on a Sunday afternoon. It is located in the lane behind Rythm House. We wanted to try out everything on the menu. Grilled King Prawn and Prawn Tawa were both delicious! Pomfret fry and Bombay duck fry were good. Chicken Makhani could have been better. Paneer Tawa and Veg Do Pyaza were more or less okay. The place is expensive but lives up to its reputation to quite some extent.

The best crab in the city. Loved the butter pepper garlic crab 🦀. Pricey place but totally worth it. Their rawas tikkas are amazing too. We tried the hariyali one but the hyderabadi too is popular. Solkadi was so refreshing and i found it different from other places. But the crab was definitely the show stealer. Would love to visit again.

By far a very old place and has lived up to its expectations, if you want to have the best sea food this is the first place that should come to mind around this area.
This place is known for the seafood and me, being a person who doesn't eat seafood at all ate the chicken and absolutely loved it. The fried rice, noodles and the chicken starters were really good.
A terrific seafood restaurant. Food is fresh and very nicely spiced. Surmai fry, King prawn curry with neer dosa were all remarkable. Service too was very attentive and for the quality of the food, it is moderately priced. Will visit again for sure.

The best crab in Mumbai! You cannot go wrong with the crab. We had a super jumbo crab in garlic butter. Delectable! We also had the Bombay duck fry, squid koliwada and a masala fried pomfret. Other than the pomfret which was not too fresh, we could not fault the other items. The fantastic culinary experience is supplemented with good service from the attentive staff.
Trishna has been our family favourite for crabs. They serve very fresh fish! Our all time favourites here has been the butter garlic crabs. However these days with growing health and weight consciousness we tend to steer away from it but the thought of it makes me salivate. The pepper fish tikka,prawn koliwada, the salt and pepper prawns/ calamari are all to die for. We also have the hyderbadi dal and the prawn fried rice to change the palette. To end it off there’s always the caramal custard and the kulfi. Very warm place will always be close to my heart!
The place us very cozy and comfortable, and a great place if you are out with family , or if ure up for a relaxed evening with a buddy. We called for surnai fish slice - fresh produce but tasted very average , but hang on , the next dish in - "Prawn chettinad with neer dosa" really won our hearts.

Went in with high expectations due to the videos we had seen and the things we had heard, and we left with a huge smile and extremely satisfied stomachs after the wonderful meal. Yes, with quality you do pay the price, but if you are craving a very special seafood meal, then we assure you it will completely be worth it. The prawns preparation is coconut was nice.i don't remember the name though. But it was the best dry prawns preparation in coconut I have ever had. Also the pomfret gravey that we ordered was best. Totally worth the money and best place for seafood lovers

I've avoided going to Trishna as it had become a overpriced tourist trap. The food had become beside the point as it became a must do. A few weekends ago decided to try it as I wanted seafood in town and had Capitalists to entertain (Friends from Dilli). First things - the decor was much as I remembered it. Though memory is hazy. That too me is a definite plus. I prefer to pay for the food and not the ambience. Stuck to the old favourites. Medium crab butter pepper garlic. Rawas hyderabadi tikka, Fried prawns, Chicken malai tikka (Capitalists what to do), Mutton Kolhapuri and Hyderabadi Dal. The food was insanely delicious. The Crab was as I remembered it and then some. If you know what memory can do to the taste buds - nothing is as good as you remember it to be but this was. I broke a cardinal habit of my dining and ordered a tandoori roti because the crab gravy deserved it. The Rawas was delicious - very well done and not coated in the stuff. The Hyderabadi Dal was as usual superb and the mutton was acceptable. The prawns and the chicken were good. The service was impeccable and spoke of either extremely well trained or experienced people. All in all a excellent experience and one which I intend to revisit again and again. The surprise was at the end when the bill was most reasonable. Its about what you'd pay in a average upmarket seafood restaurant and not in the least bit unreasonable. Extra points as I think the menu was a basa free zone
Standout seafood place. The garlic prawns were smothered in garlic and delicious. Veg options are also good here, especially Hyderabadi dal which had a unique roasted flavor. On a weekday evening the place was packed with more tourists than locals. But prices are reasonable and service is good. The neighborhood is also worth exploring before or after your meal.
Had a boozy family lunch here the day after Christmas. Though the space is a bit cramped the service was excellent and the waiters were quick and courteous. The grilled rawas was excellent. The prawns curry was way oversauced for my liking but my family enjoyed it. The mutton curry was excellent (don't ask why we ordered a mutton curry at a seafood restaurant). We also had another Kolhapuri style fish curry which was decent. I had a mushroom baby corn curry and the Hyderabadi dal both of which were really good. All mopped up with neer dosa and beer. Stumbled out in a food coma. Though we were seated way past their afternoon closing time of 3:30pm they were courteous enough to wait for us to leave at leisure and didn't hustle us to leave.
While the decor/space is let down, one cannot stop a seafood lover from eating here. Excellent butter garlic crab (I must be the millionth person saying this). The staff is attentive staff, the gentry is nice and I usually find tourists occupying a few tables. Rates as one of my favourite old haunts. I do wish they'd liven up the place a bit, though.

Legendary place for seafood and lives up to its reputation! Located in the bylanes behind rhythm house (kala ghoda), the ambience is simple enough to pass it off as a regular outlet. But the food more than makes up for it. We ordered pomfret hyderbadi tikka (succulent and cooked to perfection), prawns butter garlic (not bad but could have been better), surmai tawa fry (outstanding) and rice with rawas fish gassi (rich and delicious). Crabs are a specialty here and you are sure to get the freshest fish available out there! The quantity in every dish is generous!! Yes, its expensive compared to other seafood joints in mumbai but totally worth it. No surprise more than half the restaurant was occupied by foreigners. Excellent go to place for seafood lovers!! You will come out with a smile on your face albeit with a small dent in your pocket. Do visit!!

This place is a paradise for all the seafood lovers trust me on this. We had the butter garlic prawns and the crab as well as the chill prawns, they were yumm. To mix it up we also had the legendary butter chicken which was also great. Overall all the food was just amazing. But the interior was disappointing, I was not convinced at first whether or not this is TRISHNA but the food did the convincing part😬.

I have always loved the food in Trishna, however the ambience is a big buzz kill.. for years they have not redone their place and have been managing with the same old cramped layout with just changing the fabric upholstery with an even ugly and dirty looking upholstery every 2 years..

All varieties of fish and prawns are available and are available in various preparations..
Some of my favourite items are butter garlic prawns (delectable), baby shark masala and pomfret masala curry.. Soups are also pretty decent here.
I wish there was an option for 3.5 rating as my rating for food is 4.5 and it is 2.5 for the ambience but due to lack of the suitable option I choose to rate it 4 for the overall experience

Went there for the food. Came back with a mixed bag. Pretty place, just about the right size to be easily manageable. The staff is courteous as well. We started with crab soup, which was delightful. The butter galric crab was good as well, if only a little too runny. The mutton rara though was disappointingly overcooked. Ordered paneer as well, which was rather excellent.

Tucked in the narrow lanes at Kala Ghoda, this place is heaven for seafood lovers. Although not a sea-foodie myself, my favourites here are the Butter Garlic Crab/Prawns and Tandoori Pomfret. If asked for, the prompt and friendly staff help you choose the crab/prawn/lobster too. And they can cook in all flavours possible - Mangalorean to Chinese to Hyderabadi!
The place is a little cozy though - probably for that authentic Mumbai feel.
Overall its a happy place that loves serving good food and you are sure to leave it satisfied.

The seafood is superb, the catch is fresh and preparation is skillful.
The Scene:- Ambience is drab not a Date place or evening to remember kind of place. But who cares when the Food here is this good. Service is old school and Efficient. The place is a bit dimly lit and cramped, with some old fashioned furniture. Suffices to say that this place is not going to win any interior awards anytime soon.
The grub:- Amazing tastes, Freshest fare and heavenly Smelling bites of delight. Went there with the office crowd and ordered up a feast to dig into:-
Prawns Koliwada:- awesome, fresh juicy prawns. The Prawns were batter Coated and fried till golden.
Bombil Fry:- Batter coated Bombay duck fried till golden. The Bombil was fresh, soft buttery and the coating was a Great textural addition. Awesome taste. went well with the Mint chutney.
Butter Garlic Prawns:- Medium sized prawn pieces tossed with vegetables in a garlic butter gravy. THe gravy is big on garlic and the butteriness of the gravy masked this pungency to some extent. But if you love garlic, then this is the dish for you. Bewarned the Fried Garlic smells are addictive.
Next was Lobster in a chilli- chinese preparation, The subtle taste of the meat was a bit lost here with all the chinese sauces dominating. But this too was polished off in a jiffy.
Next was the main course of mangalorean fish Ghassi, Oh this was every bit as good as it can get. Nice pasty gravy with southern-Indian pepper-kokum/tamarind based spice mix with rawas. super soft fish and tangy gravy. Went well with the neer dosa and Appams.
Washed it all down with one of the best versions of the Sol-Kadi I had ever tasted spicy and coconutty. Absolutely yum.
The Verdict :- If you are still reading this, stop and go grab some great tasting seafood now.
What a lovely food .. superb and amazing food. Had butter garlic crab with Neer Dosa and butter nan. Classic taste and utterly delicious. My wife had paneer and guess what veg food was equally tasty. Price is little high but I feel every single penny worth it. Best thing is they have parking facility.

May 6 afternoon: Though I am a veggie, I end up at such places due to the folks who want to eat sea food. This is one of the oldest and most famous places in town for sea food lovers. And it didn't disappoint. The place was full with a mix of locals and foreigners enjoying their food and drinks. While the crab was really good (as enjoyed by my friend), the paneer tikka was well done with soft paneer. The service is warm and attentive.
Amazing food and service. The restaurant is very cozy and gives you a feeling of the 90s interior. But the food was excellent. I would recommend the Hyderabadi tiger prawns and the crab in the butter and garlic sauce.

This is an institution in Mumbai and it still lives up to its reputation with the sheer quality of fish it serves. Surmai fry which is bigger than a large adult's palm and Rawas kalimiri tikka are to die for and go to heaven. Bombil fry is good too. And the fact that they serve all kinds of liquor makes it a damn neat late night spot too. Especially now with the plush interiors and a main door with a swanky port hole :)
I go to Trishna for the butter garlic crab... it’s the finest you can get in this city. The tawa fish is also good. I took some friends from England for the crab and fish and they loved it. Good place to go in a group but a prior reservation is necessary.

For coastal food lovers, this should be on your list. With a family restaurant like ambience and nothing very fancy, but the food is one of the best I have had. Phenomenal service. Slightly on the expense very side but I would come here again for the love of coastal food. I had a grilled pomfret with some gassi. Total delight

Very wide variety of seafood available, the garlic and butter jumbo crab was delicious.
We went for dinner here and had salt and pepper lobster was really amazing would recommend this dish and sholey chicken it was okish and prawns biryani which was amazing .ambience is ok . Service is good .
Old school classic restaurant. Besides the decaying atmosphere and interiors of the restaurant the food and service has remained top class. Do not miss the koliwada squid, Bombayduck fish, butter garlic crab, the prawn ghassi and yellow dhal. Do not miss Trishna if you are in the locality. We were licking our fingers

Ambience is nice and staff is very well mannered. Service is also very prompt. But space is too cramped. Restaurant gloriously flaunts it's fame in being the top rated sea food servers. Must try their sea food speciality dishes, though it will pinch your pocket good, so remember to carry your credit card!!! Anyways, place is couple friendly as well as family friendly. If you are planning to go in a group it is recommended to book a table in advance.
Great place for seafood
What a meal. This is seafood and chicken only places. The menu has many different choices. All good. You can even pick your fish from the sea market next door. Staff is nice and clean. Restaurant is very clean. To finish all my dishes were excellent!!
The food is simply awesome, very authentic flavour and fresh. Trishna is already a famous name amongst locals and tourists so it does not need any more recommendations.
However my overall experience was slightly dampened by the crunch seating and available space. The sofa could sit 2 and I had the isle seat. More than once I took a hit from the excellent staff who were serving the patrons. Not sure what they can do about it but perhaps the staff could be mindful
The wonderful Seafood restaurants where is about 20 guests can attend at the same time. The crab 🦀 is really good.
Grilled shrimp is nice too. But the one I love is Crab soup.
