Gajalee to my opinion is one stop for sea food. I enjoy fried Bombay duck fish here and prawns curry.
Must try when you here.
Good sea Food.
Would recommend.

Awesome Tandoori crab, bombil fry and prawns biryani! God bless the chef 😇✌🏼
Several seafood restaurants existed before it, and several new ones have popped up since, but none have managed to replace Gajalee’s top bidding. Voted the best seafood restaurant for many years, Gajalee has no dearth of brilliant seafood options. Includes butter garlic lobsters, clam koshimbir, clam masala, stuffed bombil and...well, the list could go on and on, really. Like many who follow on this list, they also have seafood thalis, so if there’s one place i strongly recommend, it would be this!

One of the best costal seafood served here . Family place . The staff is too good they serve you well . The owner of this place is also a very good person who treat the customers very well . The malvani taste of the fish curry and the fry all were too good . They also show you the fish before they cook so that we come to know the fish is fresh . Comfort seating . At last before you leave from there you must have a cup of solkadi it was aussume . Do visit here
Food is good. Juhu Gajalee is also good.
I just love gajalee hotel in costal sea food. They have many different types of dishes which are been served there and the desserts are also excellent. So i would tell everyone to come here and have sea food and malwani food also.
Beautiful restaurant with great ambience. This place is so adorable and peaceful.
Gajalee is famous for its non vegetarian food especially fish. Along with that chicken dum biryani was so yummy and worth too.
I'm loving this place not just for it's good ambience and service but also for the food which they deliver. Must try

If you want to have the best seafood cuisine in Mumbai, this is the place to go to. I can't remember on how many occasions I've gone to this restaurant. There is a lot of waiting and rush but I assure you it's worth the wait. By now I must have had each item listed on their menu and it's super delicious. If you are a fan of seafood you must definitely have the crabs here, order their yummylicious fish thali. So don't wait, go now.

Gajalee is a place that evokes fond memories from years ago. This was the first place after 'Sheetal Samudra' where I had proper seafood. Also the first place where I tried baby shark, and loved it!
This is only the second Gajalee that ever opened in Mumbai, and has a rich history. Known for its seafood, this was the place to meet my bro Prashant Ghabak for dinner before I flew out of Bombay. I walked from Juhu beach to the restaurant, along pleasant pedestrian paths and we met at the restaurant around 8:30.
The staff was around our table at once, eagerly discussing what we could order. We started with the lady fish fry (off the menu) which was mind blowing, lending a great start to the meal. It had the perfect texture and perfect spice levels to go with a beer. It was followed up with two wonderful curries - Baby shark masala sukha and Tandoori butter pepper oyster. They were paired up perfectly with Ghavme (similar to appam or white neer dosa) to complete the course. We ordered another round of beers alongside, to append the already fulfilling gastronomic experience, and to slow down our gorging on the food a little!
Once we were done with the curries, we were still a little peckish, and impressed by the previous dishes, we felt it was only right to order a lobster. Unfortunately, there weren't any female lobsters available (which are what I prefer) but the one on offer seemed good enough and we ordered it anyway. The preparation happened in a Tandoor. The final dish was another fantastic addition to their resumé. It was Prashant's first time having a lobster and he loved it as much as I did.
I was being asked for dinner place recommendations from another set of friends the same day over WhatsApp, and I suggested Gajalee to them too.
All in all, Gajalee is a place where you can always go expecting a great meal, and trust them to come good on your expectations. That is probably the reason that this is only my third 5 star review. Highly recommended!
Gajalee is a family restaurant and a very good place for all nonveg foodies as they serve very good non veg dishes.
What I tried is-
1.jumbo prawns tandoori is a very good starter to go for as they serve big pieces of prawns with masala on it and its well cooked.
2.Crab masala another dish to go for as a whole crab is served and tossed with masala and served with salad.I highly recommend it.
3.Chicken biryani a very good qauntity of rice and its very tasty. They use basmati rice and is very well made.
Yummy in my tummy😍 It was definitely worth the 30 minute wait to get a table. I had the pomfret thali and the squid masala. The fish was fresh and everything was cooked well.. the pomfret curry was delicious and if I had to change something on the thali it would've been the rava fried fish.
The squid too was soft and not rubbery. What a meal to remember!
Whenever I've discussed seafood with a mumbaikar, Gajalee has always featured on the must visit list.
It's a busy establishment, we fortunately reached in time and got a place without waiting but by the time we got out there was a long queue of people waiting for a table.
The service is fast and the staff is extremely friendly. Now the food - well, for all the hype, I found the food to be ok at best.
The bombil fry came highly recommended and was a lovely preparation but the prawns were murdered - overcooked and rough and in a gravy that felt like watered down chutney (ambat tikhat). Probably should have ordered one of the more popular gravies but as I said, the food was ok, not something you'd expect at an iconic establishment.
Will definitely give the place another try and sample some of the recommended items.
Visiting Gajalee since childhood and the only restaurant I would suggest anyone for sea food....and more over for prawns biryaani 💕....the staff is very good here
Gajalee is love💕
Attended twice, once for lunch and another time for dinner.
Both times, we had fried bombay duck with light spicey batter. Not too spicey though, just right. Definitely worth a try and they were fresh.
For lunch we had prawns in thick gravy - fabulous. With prawns, we had thin rice pan cakes. Light and refreshing. They were excellent
For dinner we had pomfret fish in tandoor gravy. Not the greatest!
Service I would say was okay and could have been better.
Love this place, food is amazing.Clam Koshimbir & Stuffed bombil is to die for. However, over the years the portion size has reduced., and servers with a smile never hurt anybody.
but FOOD IS SOOO GOOD
Gajalee is the best place to eat sea food.
They provide with best and premium quality food to there customer.
staff is freindly .
Pocket friendly resurant
Kindly visit this palce for having amazing sea food
Had an awesome gastronomic experience at gajalee. The usual bombil fry was a super hit with our guests so were the succulent tandoori jumbo prawns. The freshly prepared crab masala was melting in our mouths. The only slight disappointment was the lady fish cooked in some red sauce which didnt appeal to our palette. The ever helpful amd courteous staff made our dining experience a truly memorable one.
Go for their bombil fry. Rest was decent but not great.
When it comes to seafood, one name in Mumbai stands out.
I decided to give it a go this time when I was in the city.
We ordered Bombil fry and Butter fish (big one, half tawa fry and half for curry).
They are famous for their bombil fry and rightly so. It was fry just perfect. The coating was not very thick and tasty. loved it.
Butter fish Tawa fry was also was very good.
Crab masala and fish curry did not live up to my expectations.
Over all good experience but not great.
Talk about Fish and Gajalee always come to mind.. I vividly remember the numerous visits made to Gajalee twenty years back while we were staying in Malad.. After shifting to Santacruz, i thought of revisiting thise good old days..
Surprisingky Gajalee has not changed at all.. the ambience, the food or anything... We ordered a Pomfret Thali, Surumai Thali and a Chicken Thali alongwith Prawn fry and Bombil fry.. The food was excellent especially the surumai curry
Famous seafood restaurant in mumbai situated at vile parle. King prawns tandoori, stuffed bombil, fish fingers, surmai tikka and crab are must try dishes here. We ordered prawns sukha, pomfret tikka masala, surmai and baby shark curry for main course. All dishes were authentic malvani-goan. You cam have these dishes with amboli, ghavne(Thin rice dosa-neer dosa), bhakri, chapati and rice. For desserts you can try fruit custard, nachni custard and caramel custard. I definitely recommend this place to all fish food lovers.
On Sunday after shopping went for lunch with family, if you really want to test sea food Maharashriyan style must visit.. We ordered below items all was awesome in test solkadi was so testy and fish curry.
Bombil fry
Surmay curry
Chicken masala
Egg masala
Vade
Ghavne
Chapati
Rice
Veg thali
Solkadi.
Very happening and crowd attracting, mostly for family and kids. Food is tasty, authentic as it can be. Service is quick. Got the worth of money and time spent in well cooked and tasting food
Came back to Gajalee after years and food is still very good but rating feels more like something between 3.5-4.
Ambiance is casual with both ac and non ac sections (personally prefer non ac). Restaurant is clean with friendly service albeit bit slow. I like that it is family friendly oriented because it is very spacious inside as well as outside when you wait so kudos for that.
Usually a wait line on weekends but it moves fast (do call to put your name down)
Between two adults and a 17.5mo old we shared:
- 2 bombil fry portions (kid had half of the 1st order hence the double order haha)
- 4 chappatis
- 2 vade
- solkadi
- prawns sukha
- clams koshimbir
- surmai fry
- fish curry (just curry no fish) rice
- caramel custard
Food was really good and light. Loved the bombil, clams koshimbir, fish curry and caramel custard. Sadly the surmai was bit smelly hence didn't feel very fresh and the prawns sukha were not what we had imagined and ended up being more north indian style.
Overall great experience and would definitely visit again : )
I being a fish lover. Gajalee is like a go to place whenever I am in vile parle. I have been to this restaurant for more than 20 years and god bless the staff and committee it’s still doing good. Their bombil fry is the best among the city. The prawn curry rice is close to the Goan taste. And the sol kadi is just awesome. Being from the Konkan side one has to try this restaurant.
Yesterday I ordered from Gajalee ... I was getting tempted to have Pomfret. For me a Perfect Pomfret is well fried and tender from the inside whether fried or curry and Most Importantly should be fresh. I love Pomfret and its one of my fav fish so it must be perfect.
I ordered Pomfret Thali consisted of Pomfret curry + Pomfret fry + Bowl of Vegetable + Chapatis (2 Pcs) + Rice
The pomfret curry - 2 Slices of Pomfret (body and head) which was well cooked, fresh and tender . The curry was yummy but little on the watery side. Curry should not be too watery at the same time not too thick. However taste wise good.
Rice- Quantity was sufficient for a light eater for a heavy eater will be less but there are 3 chappatis in the thali with veggie so should siffice
My favourite Pomfret Fry- This was the best part 2 slices of pomfret very fine pieces though guess the pomfret was medium sized but the fish was fried to perfection crispy outside with rawa coating and tender in the inside. Very yummy
Vegetable- They had given cauliflower and potato not my personal fav so i just ate the potatoes but taste wise okayish and you get 3 soft phulka chappati
All in all loved it. The pomfret was tasty fresh. Happy with wat i ordered and worth the price. Just one thing the pomfret should be big for Thali of 400Rs.
Also requesting them to customize the thali as per preference as sometime some people dont like chappati in their thali they prefer more rice
good and very friendly place best for sea food lovers you'll get eat many good variety of sea food which you have not had before lobster were amazing juicy
Everything here is perfect!!! The food is tasty especially the non-veg. Bombay duck here are the best ever in Mumbai. The service is quite good and ambience is also moderate.Almost all the varieties of sea food are served. Traditional as well as North Indian cuisine are served. Price is expensive a but but definitely worthy!!!!
Pretty crowded place on weekends and maybe because of it service was slow. But food was tasty however we weren't much impressed with butter garlic prawns compared to other food. Live fish selection takes place. We order Thalis which were Average but this lobsters were win win overall.
The best seafood restaurant, a perfect place for family dineout or lunch & a home made taste, loaded quantity & ofcs best quality even best serving.
Pocket friendly and must visit with your family
Best Malvani/ Maharashtrian seafood in Bombay! It's a must-eat for sea food lovers. The fish/ prawn/ crab whatever you order is fresh AF! And service is super quick for such a big crowded place.
Loved the ambience and the food here is really amzing. Ordered for a crab soup, bombil fry, prawn biryani, and prawn curry....loved all the dishes .. defenitely would recommend this place for all the sea food lovers ❤️❤️❤️
This is one of mine favourite place. Awesome food and very courtesy staff. I took my colleagues from Bangalore here. We ordered promfret tawa style, prawn sukha, Neer dosa and Ravash. All items were well prepared.
Being a huge mutton fan.. I have tasted mutton in more than 100 places in Mumbai... Only two of them made to the top... Gajalee mutton chops.. And Kheeva in Phoenix Kurla.. Photo is from gajalee
If you are in Mumbai and craving for some seafood, this is the place to go. Fresh seafood and they also serve fish thali. Their curry matches our goan curry taste and their bombay duck fry is delicious. Definitely worth a visit, if you are in Mumbai.
Must visit for sea food and fish lovers and perfect for family dinners.
Food is fresh and great but orders take longer to get served but it’s totally worth it.
When it comes to seafood restaurant this place tops the list. Recently tried their stuffed Kapri pomfret and it was really scrumptious! And one cannot miss prawns biryani.
It's one of the best place to have sea food in Mumbai. Located on the busy Hanuman Road of Vile Parle, this place is always crowded. It is a good place for family dinner. The service is quick and the staff is good. So basically its food is excellent. One must try it.
Ambiance - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Cost - 4/5
Food - 5/5
The staff is very polite and friendly. We ordered clams masala, chicken tikka masala, egg biryani, caramel custurd, chocolate mousse and surmai fry. Caramel custard is a must try. Their wadas are crisp and perfect to combine it with a spicy chicken curry. Clam masal was too good and not oily at all. Overall it was a very good experience.
It is one of the best seafood restaurant in Mumbai.
Had been for dinner food is nice. Loved prawns fry and clams kothimbir, and paneer dishes were good, loved the caramel custard as well .place is a little expensive. Loved the ambience.
As being Sunday there was a lot of waiting for the restaurant but the service there was awesome no negligence. Despite of being crowdy there is no difference in the taste of food it was delicious. Oyster masala dry was yum.. do try prawns fry..
Sunrise mocktail was delicious even though sonkadi is a must try..
I was there in 2012. My goodness the food I had here for the first was amazing. I tried their chicken and prawn starters. It was glam and also. Their chicken curry and rice flour roti was excellent. The next time. I'm in Mumbai. I will surley visit this place again. Gajalee, You've a fan here. 😊
What an experience...Have been to Gajalee many a times but this time it was different...I went on a weekday which i feel is the right time to go as the APC is much cheaper...We ordered for Lobster tandoori style,Jumbo prawns in butter garlic, crab masala fry, bombil fry and stuffed bombil and squid masala...All the food ordered was perfectly done, not too spicy or too oily...A must visit for sea food lovers
To highlight- I had one of the softest and fresh Pomfret here
Ambience - 4*
Food -5
Staff - little slow but polite 4*
Desserts - 4*
I did love the fish and prawns, very fresh and cooked well to perfection , I tried Bombay Duck for the first time as per recommendation and it came out fantastic. Service can be little more faster however I don’t want to blame as it was completely packed.
If you are looking for one place to enjoy all the local Maharashtra cuisine then this is the right place you’re looking at. You can find all sorts of sea food and other local cuisine served in a very friendly ambience. Bombil Fish Fry is probably the best you’ll find in Mumbai.
The food I ordered from here made my day! I ordered chiken masala dry which was perfectly cooked and blended correctly in spices it was very tasty. And the caramel custard was broken and had totally lost it's shape but it was delicious. Thank you so much!

If you love seafood and love Mumbai you have to put this place up on your to-do list! Gajalee is very famous for seafood in Mumbai! The restaurant is located on the much happening hanuman road in parla
There are a handful of places that come to mind when we are in the mood for tasty seafood one of them being this one. Though the prices are a little high but that is normal for any good seafood place in Mumbai.
We had ordered the Mutton Bhuna and and Surmaiye fish. The Surmai fish was fried and the mutton Bhuna was a semi gravy dish. Both the dishes very delicious and the quantity was also appropriate.
The ambience is of any regular fine dine and the service is prompt.
This place is a must try for all sea food lovers out there.
Kudos.
1. Fresh, fresh, fresh seafood
2. Lovely ambience
3. Friendly, responsive staff
4. Layout of the restaurant has a nice light, open, airy feel
5. Their dessert selection (and presentation of their offerings) is also delightful. The fruit custard is an all time favourite at such Malvani seafood joints
6. They have a nice waiting area for rush hour too
7. Service is a bit slow compared to similar Malvani joints
Have heard loads about this place. Had to try it!
Cutely set up this place, in vile parle, mumbai.. have such a good collection of their fresh catch!
The prices differ from the size of the seafood you choose when they come at your table with all the varieties they have to offer in a bucket full of ice!
We called for Pomfret Pieces Fry (5/5!)
Butter Garlic Medium Sized Tiger Prawns (4/5)
Surmai Curry (3/5)
Such subtle but yet lip smacking flavours. Well washed and cooked. Unlike most of the seafood joints that still have a little smell to it. This one was amazingly washed and cooked. The fish and the prawns were so well cooked and juicy.
Must try!
Already planning my next visit here for their rice based sea food dishes like prawn pulao and pomfret biryani
This is a pretty good place for having sea food. Pleasant ambience, friendly staff, delivery of food was fast on our table. Taste of food was best. The gravies are authentic and flavorful. Best restaurant for non vegetarian. Server also served us nicely.

Knowing that I will not be back in Mumbai for a while, my last meal had to be at Gajalee. A must try for any visitor to Mumbai! The fresh seafood and deft use of spices makes this restaurant one of my all time favourites in my home city. Love you Gajalee!
Located in the bustling area of Vile Parle, Gajalee is a seafood delight for its residents and other people from around Mumbai who come seeking for good seafood. Their food is flavourful and they have a lot of variety which allows you to try different dishes every visit. Not only that, they also have a wonderful selection of non seafood items for guests who are accompanying seafood lovers but unfortunately don't like seafood themselves.
My personal favourites are the tandoori preparation of fish, prawn and crab, the tisrya masala, the vadas and the fish curry which is quite authentic in its taste.
So far, i have never been disappointed!
Pocket friendly and awesome taste.. only thing the desserts are bit costly. Friendly staff.. bombil fry, rawas curry are my fav. The tanginess in the gravy will please your taste buds
A must visit for fish lovers Bombay duck is lovely the crab is very Tasty The food is authentic with rich masalas and fresh catches of the day will visits again
there's no better way to put this, Gajalee for me is my home away from home. I've been going there since the time I can remember and it hasn't changed one bit.
What to say about this joint! Its a haven for sea food goan type cuisine... have been coming here since childhood.. amongst all the sea food fish/ crabs/ lobsters... personally i have found 3 outstanding preparations which are must try..
1. Crab soup
2. Surmai koshimbir
3. Prawns biriyani
Not to forget their made to perfection bombil fry!!!
For the Love of fried Bombay duck, this place is heaven. Never have I ever had such golden crispy bombil fry. The gravies are authentic and flavourful. I like the teesrya koshimbir, crab butter garlic and prawns ambotik with ghavne or vade. A nice place for the fish and crustacean eaters
If you are a Sea Food lover and like coastal Maharashtrian cuisine with a fine dinning experience, this is the place to go! The menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from, there are some which are a must have. If you are a first timer, I recommend, the Bombil fry, tandoori raavas and the prawn curry rice. They also serve some authentic Malvani and Konkani dishes including the Komdi Vade & prawns Ravaa fry, among others and both are lip smacking good!
Best sea food place delicious food and the staff & it’s service is mind blowing, We had stuffed Pomfret, Koliwada style prawns & tandoor crab all the dishes were delicious chicken dum biryani was delicious, one should try it one in a life time for a wonderful place and memorable experience,👍
Gajalee
An authentic Paradise for all the seafood lovers. A restaurant preceding it's reign of being a benchmark in the Maharashtrian cuisine.
ordered for tandoori mackerel & absolutely love it.. well marinated & fresh..
It was flavoursome& fullfilling..
The place gives a vintage vibe & the staff is friendly
Overall had a lovely time dinning here
This is the oldest outlet of gajalee. It serves a wide variety of seafoods mostly of Malwani style and Goan style. Seafoods which are served here include fish (Bangda, Pomfret, Bombil), Clams, Crab, Lobster, Prawns and Squid. It has AC and Non AC section. Please note that they do not serve thali in AC section. Here you will get chance to choose your fish from fresh fish basket.

Gajalee truly justifies their motto: A Savoury Feast For Seafood Lovers.
I have been visiting Gajalee from more than a Decade. Their brilliant variety invites me more and more. They have refreshing Seafood, a great ambiance, and very polite service.
I have had many things at Gajalee. I love their soups, their fried food, their Tandoori Crabs, and many more.
Every dish is uniquely different from the other
I have been to different Gajalees across Mumbai and have been a fan. They serve great food everywhere. But this was by far the best food I have had. Started with the Solkadi which was spicy and flavorful. Followed it up with Prawn Ambat Tikhat, Roti and seafood Biryani (lot of food for 1 person!). Everything was pure perfection. The prawns were beautifully cooked soaking in a tangy mango gravy. The biryani had rich amount of seafood. I prefer mutton biryani so I had my doubts before ordering but turned out to be the right choice. The place is old school with regular chairs and tables, very functional, nothing exceptional. But if you are charmed by legacy and know the feel of a genuine place, this is where you must go. The service is brilliant. Plethora of waiters are always around so you don't have to depend on just one waiter to serve you. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Parking might be an issue as it is located at a crossing. I used a cab so didn't try it though. I do think it is slightly over priced but the taste more than makes up for it.

A very warm and welcoming place for family & friends. The sea food is tempting and tasty. Incase your are a vegetarian order only the fish rassa. They were kind enough to cater to our needs as we had a toddler with us and they prepared fresh toddler food upon requesting.
Undoubtedly still one of the best headquarters for amazing seafood. Great options for some malwani seafood. The best still remains Bombil fry that's crisp and Suttle to retain the fish flavours and Crab Butter garlic ( enjoyed the base if Garlic and Butter well cooked). The surprise was the Mutton Chops that more malwani gravy which is bit oily and goes very well with the Amboli (a soft dosa or pancake). A bit expensive for the crabs as I fell the logic of pricing surpasses the value or crab meat consumed as the rates are on she'll weight. Overall can visit for a pure fish meal if you want to keep the price points low.
Gajalee has a lot of smacking offerings to offer and none of the items on their menu disappoints you. Only thing that could have made our experience better was a spaced out seating. We got a table below the staircase which was bit cramped up
This seafood restaurant has a good reputation on Google maps. The food was delicious and the waiters were very attentive.
Go no further than this ocean-inspired treasure if you want a seafood experience that is absolutely wonderful. The menu features an incredible variety of recent catches that have been imaginatively cooked with artistic flare.
Great food and experience. Go with prior booking to get an assured seat. For exquisite items like crab, lobster, big tiger prawns they explain the price and the style of cooking can be preferred.
Aaron's Final Rating is 4.5
I've always been a fan of Gajalee Andheri East. So this time I decided to try the Vile Parle one. It is 5 to 7 minutes away from Ville Parle station by rickshaw.
Must Trys :-
- Bombil
- Grilled Pomfret
- Prawn Masala

The place is amazing and family friendly. We had some sea fish on starters like boneless surmai, crispy prawns, stuff bombil, and in main course we had bombil fry, prawns biryani and solkadi... Food was so amazing and tasty. Service was good too.. If you want to try different fish then you should visit here. The price is a bit higher than other restaurant but you will enjoy the food and it's worth.
The crab tandoori is very famous dish at Gajalee.

Cannot even begin to explain how great of an experience it was to dine here. Bombay Duck and all their shrimp items were out of this world. Quality and taste cannot be oversold. A must visit for anyone who loves seafood.
The restaurant that i alway wanna visit for fish and nonveg thali in marathi style n taste...gajalee is alway a best hotel for maharashtrian tasty food .. be it veg or non veg.. that taste for the food has remained the same for last 15 years.. going after almost 10 years.. classic..
If you love sea food this is the right place to come. The service is fast and the food is excellent. Fresh fish throughout the year they even get you live crabs and lobsters to select from. Valet parking is available as you won't get parking on the street. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures of it. So I only remembered when we ordered dessert.

This seafood restaurant has a good reputation on Google maps. The food was delicious and the waiters were very attentive. However, I chose a fish from a basket of seafood and had it fried as a specialty, but when I looked at the bill, I was surprised to see that it was very expensive compared to other dishes.
