The Bombay Canteen' really was...we truly had an amazing time engaging with the staff and had some great food items. The ambience, food quality, staff courteousness & overall experience was just simply great! I had my best chicken egg grilled... Best experience ever.
If you want to taste the authentic in a fancy way, this is the place to go. All the dishes are different and unique. They also have an elaborate organic food list. They bring ingredients direct from the farms which make it even more healthy and delicious. A must visit if you are in Bombay!
I went here when my chef friend recommended the restaurant to me on a trip to Mumbai. I had one of my best, most memorable meals in India here. The service is flawless as well as the ambience. Definitely try the eggs Kejriwal and let your server recommend the other Iran from the seasonal menu.

Walk into this airy 4,000 sq. ft of brilliantly done up space and be charmed by the Bombay nostalgia in this unfinished “bungalow” with its stained glass, long rustic bar, printed tiles, manually lettered pricing boards. Thankfully, it does not degenerate into a themed cutesy cafe.

In all a very vibrant experience. The food quality and the recipes are a foodie’s delight. Along with a great bar counter, with ease of seating as well. Chilli cheese is luscious test , tempting ambience, lovely ambience, bheja fry is spicy or delicious ,maaki dal is enticing test 👍,
This has been a constant favourite for the last three years for me. The reason being not just the innovative dishes and good ambience but also the amazing staff and team they have. They come up with such unique ideas and brunches and I haven't seen such efforts to give back to the society and farmers as they make. They provide the best recommendations and even customize your food as per your needs. Once they specially made the dessert which wasn't on the menu for that day just for me and I couldn't be more grateful.
Some personal recommendations :
Coffee Rasgulla - It's coffee flavored Rasgulla served with ice cream and tastes like heaven
Gulab Nut - It's a donut like gulab jamun soaked in run and filled with pistachio cream and topped with pistachios
Dal Pakwan - This Sindhi breakfast is something I go here for again and again and can't have enough of it ever.
They also have some amazing and innovative drinks in their bar which are a must try

They have an amazing staff and come up with brunches and new items in the menu almost every month.
They also give back to the farmer community and are passionate about the food they serve.
They have lip smacking unique dishes on the menu which are a must try.
This place is perfect to go out with friends to chill, do try out the Gulab jamun here ! I had gone here for a Sunday brunch , all I can say is that the food is just perfect and also the preparation is 5/5 !!

I never give generous five stars but this place and it's food has blown me over completely and anything less would be a shame upon me. I would just talk about the food because the food is superliciously yummy. It's a burst of flavors and textures in your mouth with innovative fusion food. I have been here twice and enjoyed an ala carte meal as well as their tasting package. Every dish they served me was fabulous. The appetizers I had were Indian tacos. Methi thepla with chettinad chicken, the thepla was super soft and chettinad chicken really yummy. Jowar salad- a strange combination of jowar bajra and pistachios but it just blew my (mind) mouth off to another level. The Kashmiri minced balls were good but not to my preference. I had butter chicken made out of green tomatoes and it was fantastic. The khameer roti was perfect. I ended my meal with a bang with a dessert that was an Ode to Tiramisu the Indian way. I took three hours to complete my meal and I did it as leisurely as possible and I would advise the same to all of you who want to savor each and every taste of the meal. The food was outright delicious and it to it the service which was again the best I have had in so many years. So, all in together this was an experience worth on my pocket. I highly recommend this place because it's worth. Can't wait to go another time and that's going to be very soon.

Saturday lunch at The Bombay canteen Mumbai
Few days back we had our dinner at The bombay canteen. This is India's top 2 restaurant and Mumbai no. 1 which serves amazing lip smacking food.
We were in Mumbai for a trip with friends so we heard about this restaurant a lot, and we decided to have our lunch at this place. The bombay canteen serves amazing food and drinks.
We were 4 friends and we start ordering food. I always start with soup but here I started with my all time favorite drink, Red Bull.
In starters we had Hari Mirchi chicken, Mutton burra kebab, canteen haleem, Bheja fry, Egg Kejriwal and Banana leaf wrapped fish.
Hari mirch kebab was the best dish to start our delectable lunch. Then we had mutton burra kebab, this was the best dish and I really recommend you to try it. Tender and luscious, I'll never forget that taste.
Then the all time favourite and famous canteen haleem, which is usually had in the month of Ramadan specially ll in Hyderabad. The taste of this is really amazing. Bheja fry, I usually won't eat this but here it's smell made me to eat and I just fell in love with it. Fresh and tasty banana leaf wrapped fish I must urge you to try this whenever you are in mumbai.
Then we moved to the main course where we had sea food biryani, and Green Tomato Butter chicken with garlic bread and naan. I always used to have chicken or Mutton biryani but here i tried their sea food biryani which was surprising for me. I don't have words to express the taste and the experience, but one thing I must say if you didn't try this then you must.
I always end my dinner with some desserts, and here we had some of their signature desserts like Till gud cake, Coffee Rasgulla and Dilli carrots Swiss Roll.

We had called undhiyu few days back and they have sent us a very weird type of raw veggies with potato chips in it and that dish they call it as undhiyu and they charged us 500 Ra for the same.In their menu it was mentioned they will be sending us 500 GMs and wen we recieved the parcel it was not even 100 GMs (U all can make out on yourself by seein the picture I have attached).Now the sad part is inspite of following till the three consecutive day they are not even bothered to refund my amount nor they are apologising for the same and giving me lame reasons and telling me they will refund my money in half an hour,in one hour etc etc.This is just heights of negligence.I wouldn’t give 0 star also to this so called Bombay canteen...
The Bombay canteen has perfected the art of serving small yet filling and super delicious portions. For the main course we tried the green tomato butter chicken and being from Punjab (the husband says) this is the best butter chicken he has tasted. It was rich, creamy and flavorful. The appetizers - beef chili fry and the alio olio prawns - were yummm too. But the green tomato butter chicken is a must try!
How does one even begin to describe an experience called The Bombay Canteen? Right from the venue to the food and wine to the service with a smile, all of it adds to create total experience. Its a place for people who really want to enjoy a good meal rather than just grab a bite and run. The staff treats you like a guest and recommends and then paces out the courses just like the way it should be. Look forward to my next trip.
Really cool and hipster place with absolutely delicious food to match. The decor takes you back in time with old school notebooks for menus and old wood and stained office glass contrasting with a nice open bar circa 2020. We definitely recommend the starter menu (items were highlighted in green for vegetarian and orange for non vegetarian). The servers are friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. I imagine the place runs busy during the weekends and evenings but always good to visit for lunch as well.

And to achieve consistency in a space where they keep experimenting to bring varied cuisines from across India to the table is unheard of. I tried a cuisine close to my heart with a veggie close to my heart (they used banana flowers) and was mind blown. Not traditional in any sense but just the right amount of modernization brought in!

To start with, let me tell you that my meal at The Bombay Canteen has been one of the most memorable in recent times. We were in Mumbai briefly this January and had heard so much about TBC – that a meal was long due. Radhika and La Toyah were kind enough to have us over during that visit. So as planned, we landed, and directly headed to the Mills’ area. It was 26th January, a dry day – but the place was full nevertheless. We would soon learn why. First impression – the large space, buzzing with people and conversations. High ceilings, large glass windows and stone walls; it was like walking into the living room of a charming bungalow.

This restaurant is beautiful. It's really spacious and the booths are really cozy. Great vibe overall.

No complaints here. The service was prompt, the waiters made recommendations and ensured we were having a good time.
Food - 4/5
Goan pulled pork vindaloo tacos - Methi theplas form the taco shells. This is a great dish to start the meal with. The pulled pork was delicious.
Red snapper ceviche - This is a really unique dish you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. It looks mushy, but there's some crunchy element inside that I couldn't identify.
Mutton burra kebab - Really well cooked mutton chops. Had the papaya salad been sweeter, I think it would have complemented the chops better.
Green tomato butter chicken - Flawless. We ate this with flaky Malabar parathas and each morsel was heaven.
Value for money - 3.5/5
The food's good, yes. But the high price is still not justified.

Had a lovely time at The Bombay Canteen. First off, have to say the service and the staff are very attentive and helpful. Good on them for that.
Espresso Martini was so good, you’ll want to drink it every morning. So was the Bombay Sour.
The Jowar salad was just brilliant, so delicious. The Pork Vindaloo was good, some people may find it a bit oily and spicy but the taste was really nice. The prawn(I forgot what it’s called) was just phenomenal. Would love to come back and try that again. For main course I had the lamb which fell off the bone beautifully and was very delicious.
The chicken ghee roast on the bread was okayish. And the dessert Gulab Jamun is probably one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, it’s a must try.
The seafood biryani tasted a bit like tomato rice, sorry to say.
The Coffee Rasagulla dessert is just every coffee lover’s, ummm.... nightmare. And there was no caramel in the salted caramel ice cream, it was rather just salt ice cream, and we can guess that doesn’t taste quite good.
Other than that, everything else perfect. Lovely ambience, great service, good drinks, it was a nice lunch and hope to come back again!
Visited this place for dinner. Ordered the ghee roast toast and the prawns chettinad as starters. The taste was amazing but the quantity was insanely disappointing. We then ordered the green tomato butter chicken with paranthas as main course and it was simply amazing in terms of taste and quantity as well. Overall it was an amazing experience with great service and great food.
The Bombay Canteen is without doubt one of my favourite restaurants in all of Mumbai and I keep going back again and again. The dhokla chaat, thepla tacos and eggs kejriwal are my standout dishes. I think the desserts could be improved a little. The cocktail menu is impressive and the bartenders are knowledgeable people who are more than happy to stray off menu and make you up something.

We have always had a very special connection with Bombay Canteen. The place did give us the idea and the nudge to start Two Hangry Women as a blog. The restaurant serving modern indian cuisine, this place surely has our heart. With a quirky indian decor, the menu surely lives up to it. Our absolute favourites are the Jowar and Barley Salad, the Pork Vindaloo Tacos, their haleem was super amazing too. We surely know the food is made with love.
p.s: LOVE their cocktails too!

Love the barley salad which is always great. This time tried the green butter chicken- unusual but still good. The keema was also great - unfortunately the paratha that came with it was really stodgy.
So I was here for new years with my friends as lot of clubs were to packed up so we dint feel like goin there and we went here at this nice , neat and clasyy restaurant & bar , we loved this place and the ambience.

Excellent service and mocktails. Absolutely loved the sabudana saag galouti - we ended up ordering it thrice! The peanut chaat, sweet potato chips and guava thepla tacos were decent. The main course (both, taste and options) could be better.
A very decent and fancy place in Kamla mills! Loved the Chandon rose wine here. Also great food and ambience. They’ve pretty nice music too. Loved the all over experience.
Had a delightful Sunday brunch at Bombay Canteen. The menu had some great non-vegetarian dishes with a twist of fusion. Everything we ordered was good to taste though the portion size could be improved. My personal favourite is their bheja fry and ghee roast chicken on toast. On the veg side I only tried the Sindhi daal Pakwaan which was decent. Their cocktails esp. the Sangria and Delhi Banta soda were quite nice too.

I had heard about The Bombay Canteen while I lived in Delhi & it felt almost frustrating not to be able to see what the hype was all about. 2 years later and I had my first chance to visit. The vibe of the place & the food live up to all the buzz around the name. Thanks to the staff that recommended the Barley & Jowar Salad - it's surprisingly good! Also loved the desserts - the Coffee Rasgulla & the Gulab Nut. Review Date 18.11.2017 Nice place to hangout but you will place only if you are a couple. Male friend is not preferred by them. Kept me and friend waiting for 45 mins but gave seating to couples or families.
I am a believer in food fusion. Bombay Canteen brings forward some of the best combinations, which are scintillating for taste buds.
Even classical dishes like seekh kebab were very well done.
Their strength is in sauces & curry gravies, which are mild, not overwhelming. The ambience of the place is detailed, a bit old school, and comforting overall. Servers were knowledgeable about all fusions and were warm.
My only grudge is that lack of fulfilling plates in starters. I hate when I have to order 4 items to feel filled. Would recommend this place for exploring.
Omg one of the best meals I’ve EVER HAD! The service and atmosphere are a huge plus too.

Love the ambience, love the service and just the right amount of attention. The food - some of it is let's-not-talk-just-eat delicious. Some of it, though, could be improved. I also do wish the portions were a little larger.
The Barley salad is superlative. It's light and fresh on the tongue.
As is the chilled seabass sev puri (this one was my favourite out of everything, I think). This was light, fresh, flavourful and different.
They didnt have the squid so we missed that, but the Bone Marrow Naan chaap...oh. my. God. Tender and deliciously flavourful. I change my favourite to this one.
The Butter Garlic Crab Kulcha that we ate was....ummm...so so. Why? Coz the Kulcha was baked too hard and I could barely taste the crab.
We also ate the Prawn Malai Curry Tiffin Box, that comes in a bona-fide tiffin box. Two of us loved it, one of us didn't, so I'll reserve comments on this one except that I really enjoyed the flavours.
We ate Begun's baked brie, but I have to confess...it was too sharp for my taste buds. I've had better Baked Brie ...
Overall, would I go here again? Absolutely! Should you? For sure!
Great selection of dishes specifically curated by the chef's by traveling across the country. The small plates that we tried were bursting with flavours. And the drinks were perfect.
The only thing lacking was the service which can be improved. The staff was very busy so you had to wait for quiet sometime to actually place an order or request for change of plates.
Good food and amazing vibes. The shrimp, crab and the chicken dishes were all really nice. The staff is so friendly and kind. They gave amazing recommendations and everything was on point. Definitely worth a few more visits.
Delicious food. Friendly staff. They innovate / try something new with each dish. The menu is just the right size because with these dishes we ordered, we felt like we overall got a good idea of what they offer. We only ordered vegetarian food but didn’t feel like the options were less or we missed out on too much. The dishes are: Summer Greens Patta Chaat, Begum’s Baked Brie, Corn Locho, Baingan Bharta Kulcha, Gutti Aloo Roast with pav, and Coffee Rasgulla Sundae. Corn Locho is the most unique and amazing thing I’ve ever tasted. The portions are small for the price but it works out in the sense of getting to try more dishes. They have a nice array of cocktails and will make you something based on what you like. Their guava infused gin is also a must try. Have visited The Bombay Canteen twice now and will do so every time I come to Mumbai.
Traveling from LA… eat out and travel frequently…this was an epic meal and a great way to enjoy the diversity of Indian cuisine. It was an eye opening experience…made better by the knowledgeable and passionate service of Swen our server. A highlight of our trip
Phenomenal experience! The lamb chops was simply fantastic. The other items worth trying were the fried dosa and the dal makhni! For drinks we had makers mark old fashioned.. Ameya, was the person who served us and his sevice and knowledge of the menu was simply great. All kn all - a must visit place
