This place is a wow . Always been my favourite for Idli vada sambar. Ordered the pineapple sheera as well from here which is equally good. Must try eatery place
We always used to visit this place for breakfast from college. Just love the south indian food here.
You might have to wait also in normal Times.
Last time we dined there we had
Podi Idly
Masala Dosa
pineapple sheera - best seller
Appe
Wada
And their signature milkshakes
Love their custard apple flavoured milk😍😍😍
All n all the best south indian food in mumbai. Looking forward to visit it soon 💞
aryabhavan is a very authentic South Indian restaurant. They have a huge range of various south delicacies.
We ordered the Coin Butter Idli and asked them to give a mix of medu wada and idli. The idli was so soft and buttery. The gunpowder was the perfect seasoning. We also recommend you to try their pineapple sheera. Because as soon as you take a bite of it melts in the mouth. Overall we love this place and if you want to have a classic South Indian breakfast this place is a must

VFM METER ⏱️ : 📈
🛵Delivery Time: 3.5/5
Took almost an hour to be delivered. Food was bound to be mildly hot.
🛍️Packaging : 4/5
Was impressed with the quality and precision of packing. Very nice. Different from most places
▶️Food
1️⃣Thatte idli : (3.5/5)
This is normally always my go to dish in South Indian. Soft idli with some mulgapudi powder on it. Ordered 3 of them😋
Prefer to have it hot, that showcases it's ideal taste when cold not so much.
2️⃣ RASAM VADA : 4.5/5 ✨MUST HAVE ✨
The rasam packs a punch and is definitely very good for the throat as well. Felt like it was a soup.
The vadas as well were so soft and succulent just like how a dahi vada is.
My ✨Favorite ✨ dish always. 3 of them in my belly 😬
3️⃣ Assorted uttapam : 3.5/5 ( Mix of 3 uttapams)
The masala uttapam is to die for my favourite of them all.
If your confused of which one to order always best to go for an assorted mix
4️⃣Onion Rava Dosa: 4/5
Thin crispy and a tasty batter. Always good to have a different type of dosa.
Please if the place is a bit far from your house do not order it as when it gets cold it becomes very rubbery and not nice to have.
5️⃣Dal Khichdi(4/5) ✨Must Have ✨
This was a surprise to me. I'm not normally a dal person but this was something I had to have.
It had a unique taste to it.
6️⃣ Onion uttapam : 3/5
Quite average nothing spectacular. Can be avoided the uttapam was very thick and not to my liking
7️⃣SABUDANA VADA❌ (AVOID) 2/5
Tasted very floury like it was still raw along with less salt
🏷️ Pricing : 4/5
Rs 1100 odd for so much food and variety. Great joint.
??How many people can have this (4️⃣people)
My favourite breakfast place in matunga, the best south Indian food dishes I usually have mendu vada and idli its stomach filling the quality and quantity of the food is great the only thing is its usually crowded.
My aunt took me to this place.
The interior is simple but they serve authentic south indian food which will win your heart❤️
I tried the mysore masala dosa, mendu vada and filter coffee.
The food is amazing especially the sambhar.
Don't forget to try the filter coffee.
First thing first
The sambar and chutney at this place is yummilicious and perfect.
I had podi dosa as one of my friend insisted on me trying that and tbh I don't regret it.
The podi dosa had gun powder masala in it... gun powder masala is tomato masala.
The dosa was so crispy and buttery.
Then i tried the masala dosa and it had an amazing taste...the aloo was properly smashed and had that south indian masala taste.
It might be a little expensive for a dosa but it's worth it.
U go their on anytime of the day n still they serve such a good menu vadas. It's crispy, tasty n hot.. any food u order taste equally amazing
Nice place, well organised to handle crowd. Situated in the hub of Matunga. Good service and nice south Indian delicacy.
Arya Bhavan one of the most authentic south indian restaurants in Mumbai providing with a variety of South Indian dishes which shall not disappoint you . Though a little pricy as compared to the other restaurants here each dish is serverd with the atmost flavours and authenticity and no compromise with hygiene. So next time you want to have some good South Indian food check this place out.

Specialized in South Indian, Aya Bhavan is fully crowded even on weekdays.
Idli Vada, Masala Rawa Dosa, Thaat idli are few of my favorites out there. The service is super quick. All items are served hot on your table in less than 5 minutes. The sambhar and the chutney are simply wow.
Pineapple Sheera and Filter Coffee are two things that shouldn't be missed here.
Pocket-Friendly restaurant for everyone.
We tried Thaat Idli, Rawa Biscuit and Mysore Masala Dosa. The best part of the meal was Thaat Idli. It was very soft and its taste was amazing. Mysore Masala Dosa was also good
Idli, vada, dosa and chutney everything is just awesome. Our one stop for home delivery when craving south Indian.
Awesome place. My second visit here. Totally recommended
Finally made it to arya bhavan for lunch on Saturday.
Their food is very good specially idli and wadas.
Rasam wada was also good but not the best one in matunga.
Arya Bhavan is a class place to taste South Indian delicacies. For people like me who are puro non veg, they should visit this place and fall in love with some great vegetarian food at absolutely affordable prices. Rating: 4.5*
If you crave South Indian cuisine some day.. have no second thought head straight forward to Arya bhavan..parriyupam, podi dosa, filter coffe, appam and south indian papad are must try here! Highly recommended!
If you are visiting anytime their do try “Brahman Idli” !
This place is amazing, food is so tasty and worth the price. We tried dal wada, masala dosa, filter coffee, buttermilk. Everything is very tasty. Rawa biscuit is must try. I'm in love with this place ❤️
Arya bhavan is a foodie's paradise for authentic South Indian food. Located bang opposite Matunga station. Rates are affordable. Super crowded on weekends.
Ordered:
☕ Nellai idli : Idli mixed with podi (mixture of ground spices). Was okay.
☕ Mysore rava masala dosa : Really good with the sambar and chutney.
☕ Idli wada : Wada was okay. Idli was soft and the chutney was good.
☕ Pineapple sheera : This is literally the best. Soft and delicious. Fresh pineapple chunks tossed in ghee. Warm and rich. Insanely good.
☕ South Indian filter coffee : A South Indian meal is not complete without filter coffee. The coffee is served in cute brass tumblers.
Keep up the great work, Arya Bhavan team 💙
One of the most popular place in Matunga serves amazing south indian food at quiet reasonable price talking about ambience it is quiet simple and service is prompt talking about food some food we tried

Absolutely loved this place.
Things I ordered:

All the three items tasted amazing!
Truely recommendable.

I have eaten from Arya Bhavan on two separate occasions - one home delivery and then on the outlet.. I personally prefer home delivery anyday over dining in.. one the place is too too small, and cos its economical food at good price so it is hugely popular.. I have tried the paniyaram, appam with stew, buttered coin idli, masala dosa and dal wada.. there sambhar is quite good, not sweet at all and all other preparations are also better than most places in Mumbai.. the place is good but only if u plan a takeout or order in

Following a Wisdom tooth removal, I was advised to eat only room temperature food which doesn't require much chewing, is non spicy and soft enough to be gulped. As a result, I decided to order curd rice. Now Curd rice could be tricky at times because some places add temper, some don't, some have great taste, some don't. Also for something as basic as curd and rice, some places charge exorbitantly high. I was going through this food delivery app where I stumbled upon Arya Bhavan which had a decent price and a great offer to top it up.. I hesitantly ordered the same and got a great bargain. When my food arrived, it was nicely packed in a branded reusable container along with accompaniments like Fried South Indian Papadam, Some Achar and a variety of Fried Dry Mirchi. I had to abstain from Mirchi & Achar but couldn't resist Papadam. All of this was put together in a Re-usable brown paper bag. The Curd Rice tasted as good as the presentation with right kind of tempering. Also, the rice used was the "Kanki" (broken tiny pieces) variety. The flavor was great and I think I had one of the best Curd Rice.
I would like to take away half a star as there was no spoon in the package even after me opting for cutlery, but I think it will not be fair to take that away keeping the overall experience in mind.
Arya Bhavan is the best option to have wholesome authentic south Indian food. The portion served is good enough for 3-4 people. It is a typical uddipi resturant with polite staff and prompt service even during peak hours. This place is must for good stomach filling food. Quality and the taste of the dishes are same. This place doesn't have washroom though.
This place is located just outside Matunga Railway Station. Also, this is one the best places in Matunga to try the south indian food.
Love their sambar and chutney.
What we had-
Appam- This is one of my fav south Indian dish. They are round balls made of rice and urad dal batter and has chillies and onion. Tastes great with sambar and chutney.
Rawa biscuit dosa- this is one of my favourite dosas over here. And you must definitely try this once you visit over here.
Crispy rawa dosa stuffed with cheese, capsicum and some spices. It was very tasty.
Food- 5/5
Ambience- 4/5
Service- 4/5
Kerala parota at arya bhavan
The service is very fast for other South indian dishes. As parota takes time for preparation, it took longer. Well the time taken was still less than 15 minutes. Malabar Parota was served with kurma. It was such a delight!!
The taste was authentic. A must visit and a must have dish at Arya Bhavan, opposite Matunga East railway station ❤️❤️
Nice place to have south indian cuisine.
A place which serves piping hot and good quality food - Try their pineapple sheera, coconut stew. crispy dosas. Also their special item menu is something to look for. Seating is little compact but its manageable.
Kudos to this outlet to manage and bring the best for its customers.. no need to mention about food.. Those who love South Indian food.. this outlet is a blessing with humongous range and variety of food options..must must try.. highly recommended
There are so many restaurants in matunga for south indian food which i have visited but i personally feel arya bhavan is the best one. They have a very good variety of snacks and meals which i totally love about them.
I went to this place with my colleagues to grab a quick lunch. This one is located bang opposite Matunga Railway Station's East gate. It's a great place to grab authentic South-Indian cuisine is what I was told and rightly so! The decor and ambience are quite basic and nothing over the top, as expected at a joint like this one. They have seatings on the ground floor as well as a mezzanine floor. We ordered the Idli Wadaa first. It came with Sambar and 2 Chutneys - the white chutney and the red chutney. The white chutney was your regular chutney made with coconut that is served at most restaurants and is very common. It was a perfect blend of sweet, spicy and "coconutty" flavours. But, THE RED CHUTNEY!!! OH...MY...GOD!!! The red chutney was to die for! It was a little bit on the spicy side but not too much. Even though it was made of coconut, it had completely different flavours going on and the consistency was quite thick too. The Wadaa was fresh and fried properly. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Idli was nice and soft. It was the softest Idli I have ever had. I can still feel the softness of it inside me (no pun intended). Next, we went for the Paniyaram, also called "Appe" or "Appam" by some. It was served with the same Sambar and 2 Chutneys combo. The Paniyaram was fluffy and well cooked. The insides were not too chewy and almost melted in the mouth. It had an onion and lentil filling inside that incorporated nicely with the batter. One serving of Paniyaram served 6 pieces. We then ordered Onion Rava Dosa. It was perfectly crispy and had the right amount of Onion in it. We came across an interesting dish in the menu called Rava Biscuit and thought of ordering it. Well, it was really disappointing. It looked like Tacos and I feel was a failed attempt at making a South Indian Taco if that's what they were intending to. The filling inside had Grated Cheese and some chopped vegetables including Capsicum, Onions and Tomatoes. The filling was quite bland for my taste and lacked spices. I personally didn't find it to be tasty at all. After that we went for some Rice Papad and Bisi Bele Bhaat. The Papad (around 8 inches in diameter) was crispy and not oily while the Bisi Bele Bhaat had just the right spices in it. The consistency was perfect, neither too watery nor too sticky. It's a definite go-to dish for those rainy days and a nice filling comfort food. The Bhaat (Rice) was accompanied by Curd Raita which I did not taste as I am not really fond of it. 😁
I have always loved the Rassam in South-Indian cuisine and thought of ordering Rassam Wadaa and I was delighted with what was served. Two large pieces of Wadaa, made out of the same batter as the earlier Medu Wadaa which was nice and soft on the inside, submerged in piping hot Rassam!!! The Rassam was watery as it should be and was a perfect blend of spices, vegetables and hot water. Served garnished with Coriander Leaves it looked beautiful and tasted super delicious! My colleagues then ordered for Filter Coffee while I spotted the Pineapple Sheera and went for it. After the piping hot Rassam Wadaa I just had I wanted to have something sweet and comforting and hence didn't taste the coffee. My colleagues say it was really good though. So you guys should go for it as I don't think a place like Arya Bhavan would get Filter Coffee wrong. The Pineapple Sheera was definitely the star of the show. It was cooked in loads of Ghee and it showed. If you look at the pictures closely you can see the Ghee oozing out as it was served. Every bite of the Sheera had pineapple screaming in my mouth AND it had actual pieces of Pineapple in it as well. I couldn't help myself ordering another serving of this baby! All this food, and the bill was just ₹982/- which is not at all bad for a crowd of three! Great food and quick service are the key elements that they have focussed on here! The food arrived in less than 5 minutes of ordering no matter how crowded it got 8n the restaurant. So bravo! I'd definitely visit the place again.

A good family restaurant for south Indian dishes. Airconditioned and good ambience. Food is full of variety with hot and cold drinks. Food is very tasty. Service is good. Usually crowded and waiting on the weekend. Due to space, tables are small and in between space is also small. Roadside parking availability depends on traffic on road..
I went with my friend for dinner. This place serves really nice and tasty South Indian food. Also this place has shifted to nearby so keep that in mind. Food is really good plus the hygiene is also nice. As this place is popular keep in mind there will be crowd. Also all the items are good and tasty. Also the staff is friendly.
Great place to explore the South Indian breakfast options. You can get similar vibes as in Ramashraya. Must try their rava onion mysore masala dosa amd filter coffee.

Another place for a perfect and sumptuous breakfast. A good and well maintained place with quick and prompt service. They are popular for serving a variety of authentic South Indian food.
The food is always served piping hot here. Well, we tried a few unique dishes from their menu like thaat Idli, biscuit rava and assorted uttappams. All the three dishes were unique.
Thaat Idli was topped with mollagapodj and coriander and served with chutneys and piping hot Sambhar. Always ask for their red chutney. It is very tasty.
Biscuit Rava is small crispy Dosas filled with cheese and salad.
Assorted uttappams were awesome. Small uttappams with different toppings. Masala Uttappam was my favourite.
This place is located opposite Matunga railway station.
Had an amazing time having breakfast here.
One of the awesome and delicious 😋 South Indian food I have eaten here. They served the food in the proper traditional way on banana leaf 🌿. We have eaten few items all are up to the mark.
Appey (4 ⭐ out of 5)
Appam (5 ⭐ out of 5)
Spring dosa (3.5 ⭐ out of 5)
Uthappa (4 ⭐ out of 5)
Pineapple sheera (5 ⭐ out of 5)
Filter coffee (5 ⭐ out of 5)
We have spent around 700 rupees for all these items.
The only challenge is this place is very crowded hence, you have to wait for around 20 minutes.
Heard of this place for its south indian cuisine, so we tried:
1. Rawa Masala Dosa- Awesome
2. Pineapple Sheera-lovely
3. Appe- Okay could have been better
4. Pav Bhaji- Okay
5. Filter coffee-Must try
Overall taste was good and considerably affordable as well.
First of all when you enter the place it feels like you have entered a temple the vibes are very clean relaxing and the fragrance of camphor is magic.
The food is authentic, fulfilling and tasty
The sambar and chutney is beautiful and very descent cooked.
The flavours are very subtle.
I had masala dosa and idli
Idli was very soft and tasty in itself
And the dosa was bit oily but tasty and properly cooked.
Over-all I enjoyed the food will recommend for family and friends
The price point according to the ambience and quality of food is fair
It is situated near Matunga CR station east. Finding is little difficult because it is in the inner lane. Moreover the sitting arrangement is very weird vey unorganized structure of the building. Coming to food, service cost; Food was good, service was very good but the amount charged by this restaurant is higher as compared to other restaurants nearby. We had ordered rawa Masala dosa, mysore Masala dosa, filter coffee and pineapple shira. From these items mysore Masala dosa had an average taste rest all were good. Service was very good!!!!
The person at the billing counter is rude and non cooperative. I am a regular at two of their branches - Chembur and Matunga, I had asked the waiter to take back the Tawa pulao as it was undercooked but the explanation we got was that yes it is undercooked and we will not do anything about it. Have decided to stick to their south Indian menu only - which is sadly, pretty good.
Awesome place to taste the best south Indian cuisine. We ordered mini idlis, tomato uttapa ,masala dosa, paniyaram and rice sambhar . Every dish was the best in taste highly recommended.Filter coffee was icing on the cake .So refreshing.Service was so quick despite of having so much crowd for Sunday lunch .Worth visiting.
