In addition to a la carte, there are 4 varieties of thali served. I chose the Maharashtra thali. Salad, 4 gravies, 1 Saal, gulabjamun, puran Poli, kheer, starters, roti, ghee. I purposely messed with the order to bring out the confusion I faced while being served. Awesome sumptuous foot. Photocopy of home food. Great place. Cheers.

Chetana is now an absolute favorite for their Dal Baati Churma. It is an absolute must have when you are in and around CST and have a craving for traditional dal baati. Also try their gatte ka saag and choorma laddo. You will definitely come back here, asking for more! :)

As I'm a pure vegetarian, I tend to go at only veg restaurants. Temptation was for some north Indian food along with Rajasthani cusine. I know it's a mixture..but yes that's what we all wanted to try..We went to chetana, it has a decent ambience best suited for family dinning. Food here was good having good varities in all authentic Indian cuisines. Thali her is very famous here..one should try this at chetana..I only don't understand, since it has North Indian dishes, but they were not serving any tandoori breads 😅..The service her is bit slow..but free time can be used for Chit chat among your peers😉

Food is Good.Few suggestions
They serve Farsaan and then a gap of 10 minutes for other things to arrive.Sweets had to be called for when we were almost 40 % done.Management has to follow a system of sending each item in queue. In first 5 to 8 minutes all items should be in.Jalebi arrived when we asked for.I suggest not to have veg like cauliflower in monsoon season. Also when there is choice of 3 Farsaan and 3 sweets offer a lower budget Thali with choice of one sweet and one Farsaan.Planned serving is immediately required.Rice has to be followed by Daal and papad. No gaps accepted.Same person cannot do this.Rest quality and taste good.Enjoyed.

The food was okay, but what really stood out was the courtesy of the manager Mr Anup who personally told me how to consume a certain Rajasthani dish, since I'm not very well versed with the culture! The food is a 3 star, overall gets a 5 star because of his hospitality,in particular.

Great place. Although it's thali system but people enjoy this tradition as it's mixture of traditional and modern. They serve alcohol. Friends now family friendly. Expensive but worth. Foreigners are most of there customers. If anybody planning for Sunday brunch then has plan and book a table before as it's waiting on weekends.

Visited many a times to Chetana with friends whenever we carve for typical veg thali lunch.

It's serving thali with specialised cuisines of few states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and classic combo of RajGuj thali.

Strongly recommend to go empty stomach to 'Vasulify' every paisa we spend on thali which is served unlimited ! Hope the management will excuses me for my above tips. Hehehehe....

Food is always good with varities of options to pick up from the attentive servers.

Our two different Thalis billed at 1,142/- including tax but thankfully no service charges !

Being a rajasthani, I was looking for a place in Maharashtra where i can find authentic Rajasthani food. And on one of my friend's recommendation i tried this place.
I had rajasthani thali here, and let me tell you all those who claim to serve authentic thali of rajasthan apart from this place are hoax. This place serves real taste of what rajasthani thali can. The thali consist of authentic dishes apart from famous Daal and Baati like ker Sangri and Gatte, their baati is dipped in ghee which is supposed to be as real rajasthani dal baati, apart from that the daal has to be Panchmel which is very well served by this restaurant.

I will strongly recommend other Rajasthani to try this place out as if you ever miss home food. And to other non rajasthanis, try what traditional cuisine of rajasthan taste likes.

Chetana is one of my favourite places to visit when in the mood for some authentic variations of Thaali’s. It’s also one of the oldest joints in Fort area. Despite being pure vegetarian, this place rocks in every meal it serves. They have varieties of thaali’s to choose from along with a-la-carte! Recommending everyone to visit this place more than once!

Saturday night and this place were packed with a guest. Most people were ordering thalis hence we too ordered Rajasthani and Maharashtrian thali and I have mix opinion regarding its taste. Some items were great and some items were just there to increase the quantity but quality was low. Food made me bloated and I was unable to eat much. The concept of thali is something unlimited but I didn't feel like eating more and the quality of food was fair.

Service:- Excellent service, waiters are quick and explain your items really well.

Food:- Quantity over quality.

Ambience:- Need More Lights. Its bit dark.

They have Health Thali to cater to those who prefer no oil & no spicy food.

Nothing terrific about the thalis here. Tried Gujarati Thali here with the season special Undhiyu but it wasn't that authentic or tasty. Loved khicadi kadhi and daal and the dhoklas and veg roll was very much okayish. Service was quick.

Kokam sherbet was nice. In sweets gulab jamuns and fruit custard was delicious.

Located just next to Punjab Grill and Copper Chimney so you will notice all foodies in this lane till late night

The staff is poloite and helpful...The Manager/Owner walks around asking guests if they need anything...really sweet gentleman...

A good place to have some delicious Marwari, Gujarati & best Gujarati thali with Marathi mix, one of the very few place which offers veg Marathi thali. But it’s great place to be with family and the location is also very good. Although the starters & desert part was same in all the 3 Thalis main course was different as per the cuisine you choose. These starters & desert part can be improved a lot rest All was great. This is the only pure veg thali place I visited so far which has a full bar available although quite strange as who will have chaaz & jaljerra with alcohol but anyways it gives choices to people.
A must visit place for veg thali lovers.

Chetana is one of the oldest restaurant serving thali alongside other a la carte food. It serves Gujarati , Konkani and also a healthy thali which is for the health conscious people.
It reminds me of one of the old restaurant name Shilpa @ Panchratna building -Opera House now closed since more than 25 years.
We frequently go to Chetana for eating thali and the kids can have something of their choice from a la carte. The service is excellent and food is also very tasty.

This is a popular place located at Kala ghoda very famous for its Thali. This time we tried their Sunday &holiday special Thali available in three varieties- Gujarati, Daalbaati &Maharashtrian. We opted for the Gujarati &Daalbaati Thali.Liked the seasonal Undhiu&the Puranpoli in the Gujarati Thali. The Daalbaati Thali was unique with gatte ka saag, Ker sangri& Panchmal daal. They also served two unlimited sweets along with other regular items in both thalis. Only suggestion to the management is to have some more varieties of vegetables &sweet for people to select who do not like a particular sweet or vegetable. Both the thalis were very good & service was also excellent. I would highly recommend this place to Thali lovers.

One of the very old joint in the fort area, it lives up to the expectations. The Bedmi roti is amazing while other breads also quite good in preparation. the rajasthani kadhi is must for those who are bored of dal tadkas and dal fry’s. Pair it with the smoky masala khichdi and u have some finger licking stuff. The crushed chilly chutney will deepen ur senses if spicy is ur thing. I m going to go again for thali next time.

Went there for an office party. Ordered Rajasthani Thali and Man! That tasted Great! Not too spicy, balanced spices and condiments. Staff was polite and service was super quick. Ambience is okay with ample space inside.

Bati and kadhi were a little disappointing. Rest of the food was great and being a Rajasthani I don't really appreciate food cooked outside Rajasthan much but it was delicious.

A terrific thali restaurant in Sobo. Many of us don't know that, it is an heritage restaurant. It was started way back in 1946.
As soon as you enter you are greeted with a welcome drink.
They Serve mainly 3 types of thali.
1. Rajasthani Thali- you will get traditional Rajasthani food, from daal baati to gatta to sangri and daal ke kachori. I think this is the best Rajasthani thali u get in mumbai. yes you even get jalebi and kheer for deists.
2. Maharashtrian thali -consisting of ambyache panhe , kokam sarbat, starters, bhakari, masale bhat, daal khichdi to accompaniments. You must have their puranam puri. Its amazing with so much of stuffing.
3. Gujrati thali -  A typical Gujrati thali with dhokla, kachori, daal ki pakora, kadhi ,custard, gulab jamun  and couple of vegetable gravies.

This is an under rated place, but sure whenever u are in fort area you would love to go there.

Good and polite staff. Best at servicing the people. They are exceptionally good in keeping the customers happy. I went for lunch by seeing the reviews in Zomato. We are the group of 5 people family. But got disappointed as they serve Thali in lunch and night will be dinner menu. So had a talk with manager and arranged Roti, Subji. Manager personally took care of what we need as we are new to city and don't know the language. Only drawback is that food is little over priced, yes the reason would be it's close to tourist attractions.

Super Delicious Thali

They serve Gujarati, Marwadi, Health and Maharashtrian Veg thalis. The super best part about this is that if there is a particular vegetable that you don’t like in which ever thali you have ordered they will replace it with a vegetable from the other options. So end of it you are super satisfied with your complete meal. Super fast service - which technically is the essence of any thali restaurant. Love this place.

Chetana! Heard about this place from friends alot so I went there on Friday night after a movie nearby. It has a decent space and the ambience gives u a traditional Indian culture feeling. The service was also good. We ordered

Maharashtrian thali - Served with three main Maharashtra authentic dishes. They were very spicy as the Maharashtrian food is. Served with dal, kadhi, rice /pulav/khichdi. Bakhri and roti both were served with huge amount of ghee. And in deserts there were aam ras, gulab jamun and one ladoo. Do try if u want spicy and tangy food thali.

Dal bathi thali - Served with 3 Rajasthani main sabzi. The one with black leaves I don't know what is called is my favourite and the cauliflower one too. Amazing in taste. Roti /paratha /rotla is served with bathi along with dal and kadhi. In deserts there were aam ras, gulab jamun and Methi ladoo with chass and Rose lemon water. Amazing thali do try.

The one thing I don't like about this place is its a bit costly with their thalis. And it gets closed at 11 which is not a good sign for late coming costumers. Other than this place is a big thumbs up for great thalis.

I heard from the owner that the restaurant is running for last 72 years. This is mind blowing.. Visited during Kalaghoda festival and naturally the restaurant was crowded but we could get our chance in 10 min. However since the table was big we have to share with other two persons. This is pretty unusual for Mumbai. They serve Only Thalis ( Gujarathi/ Rajasthani / Maharashtrian ) All costs Rs 589 plus taxes. We ordered Gujarati Thali. The taste was top class with most of the items served hot and fresh. Even though they have couple of less items on menu as compared with Maharaja Bhog. They also have only one sweet served and not unlimited unlike other restaurant. Surprised to see Gulabjamun or kheer as sweet option and not Jalebi as favourite one. The service was lacking on several fronts which was surprising considering their Long term experience. I was not served Kachori. Then they didn’t serve salads. They didn’t serve jal jeera or butter milk. Was told to select only one. They serve two rotis and bakri roti together in beginning which becomes soggy when we finally eat. They need to have a experienced person to supervise to ensure that the hospitality is taken care which usually tops in any such Gujarati restaurants. However leave alone such small gaps it is worth visiting this restaurant with family and friends

Chetana - excellent thali restaurant, they serve Gujarati, Marwari and Maharashtrian thalis here, super warm hospitable service. They really take care of you here with a smile and in case if there is a vegetable that you don't like in your thali they will replace it with another vegetable as well - this was truly amazing. Had the Gujarati thali here and being a Gujarati can definitely vouch for its authencity. Awesome Food and Super Awesome Service We went on Diwali day and it was mad rush, we had to wait, which is fine but we got seats on right side room from main entrance which is made functional only during additional rush. This place has single door to enter exit and food servers focus only the main hall and rarely come to this room. We ourselves had to ask for chaas and jaljira as we saw it being served in main hall and we got it only after half meal was done. We had checked what is the sweet dish of the day and came to know Jalebi was one of the two. We were served jalebi towards end of meal after our repeated asking. Phulkas were chewy and hard, the flour dough was not kneaded properly before preparing phulkaas. Cauliflower in vegetable was raw and not cooked properly. In farsan there was one kachori covering kind of rectangle and had no taste. Rice dhokla was taste less too. Undhio was extremely oily and muthia were rock hard. Wadas of dahi wada had very less salt and overall dahiwada was a big disappointment.

While I am a regular visitor at Chetana, last time I visited during Diwali week, I found the quality of food gone down several notches. That was very surprising. Perhaps the demand was much more they could handle at that time or the staff were hassled having worked continuously including Diwali days. Whatever may be the reason, I do hope that they bring back their quality standard. Will test it out once or twice more before I form a permanent opinion.

If you want to have light thali meals, though unlimited, but not overloaded with innumerable dishes, this is the place to go in for. Ordered Gujarati and Maharashtrian thalis... dishes had authentic flavours, not very spicy, Good service, good ambience. The minus was sweet dishes ( fruit custard and gulag jamun)... should be serving some genuine Gujarati/ Maharashtrian sweet dishes

Had their Maharastra, rajastani and jain thali. Authentic veg food. Each thali cost in between Rs 600- 800. Ample amount of food with refill as much as u want, though it's hard to even complete one round of food.

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon after visiting the Gateway of India and the museum as it was in the close vicinity in the Kala Ghoda area. It's a pure vegetarian restaurant and offers Ala-carte as well as thali options of Rajasthani, Gujarati or Maharashtrian cuisine. We opted for the Ala-carte option as thali was too much for one person to eat. We ordered Paneer Butter Masala along with Roti basket, Pulao and curd rice. All the items tasted good and portion size is good enough for 2 people. We also ordered some beverages. They would also serve green salad on the table. The place is small and has seating capacity for about 30-40 people and has good ambience. Has an entrance to their adjoining book shop as well. Priced slightly on the higher side due to their location, a good place to try indeed.

I myself ordered Basket roti( 5 types of Roti) and Punjabi dum aloo. The taste is extremely good. I enjoyed it fully. Thanks to Chetana. Service also very good.

Recommended this place for a more local experience. There were a few Thali to choose from, and I went with the mixed thali that had mixture from various styles. It was too much for 1 person (no sharing allowed for Thali) and we could not even try the rice. Mango lassi was also freshly made. Overall, a good experience.
