They have a modern outdoor seating area which is surrounded by greenery and is a great place to enjoy a delectable all-day breakfast! While on the other hand, the interiors are cozy, dimly-lit and travel-themed, ideal for date nights or a laid back weekend lunch with family and friends. From a statement, eye-catchy wall filled with vintage, old-style travel trunks, to the quirky wall with a travel van to the well-stocked bar and bright coloured chairs adding a bit of pop to the wooden furniture and bare cemented walls.
The food at ‘The Sassy Spoon’ is an eclectic mix of European, Mediterranean, Asian, Modern Indian cuisines, so you can be assured that you have something in store to suit everyone’s taste buds! We couldn’t wait to get started on our meal, so here’s the brief:
1) Whiskey Sour – A concoction of whiskey and a fresh citrus mix. The sourness of this cocktail was perfectly balanced with the citrus-y taste, making it a really great combination. It was a smooth and refreshing drink to sip on! Highly recommended.
2) Coffee Cooler – Being a coffee lover, I instantly decided to give this mocktail a try! The perfect blend of cold brew coffee, citrus mix and zest. We all know that orange and coffee are a match made in heaven, and that’s what made this mocktail so special.
3) Mushroom soup with a cappuccino foam - The warm mushroom soup that looks exactly like your cup of cappuccino, but well, it’s a soup! Jam-packed with bold flavours, this soup is uber delicious and extremely comforting to the soul! Well, this is worth going back for! Would be a crime to miss! It certainly was hard to believe that a simple mushroom can have so much of flavour – kudos to the chef! LOVED it! Highly recommended.
4) Korean Chilli Chicken Wings – These Korean chilli chicken wings hit all the right flavour notes – sweet, spicy, tangy, sticky and umami! Battered and deep-fried chicken wings forming the uber crisp and crunchy outer covering and that sauce was finger-licking delicious! Need we say anymore? Something you absolutely can’t go wrong with! Highly recommended!
5) Mutton Pepper fry, curry leaves and black pepper on mini Malabari parotta – Soft mini parottas topped with a spicy mutton pepper fry and is garnished with crisp curry leaves and black pepper, and chopped onions, tomatoes and fresh coriander. LOVED the South-Indian twist to this dish. The mutton was cooked to perfection and the dish was well-balanced.
6) Whole wheat fettuccine, long beans, pickled radish with moringa cream sauce and pickled carrots – A healthy whole wheat pasta dish in a creamy moringa cream sauce. The pasta was well cooked and the cream sauce was smooth and silky. However, this dish could have done with more pickled veggies.
7) Butter tossed mushroom gnocchi in a porcini cream with roasted shallots, shimeji mushroom, arugula and parmesan shavings – Silky smooth, creamy and flavour-packed porcini cream sauce with butter tossed and pillow-y soft mushroom gnocchi along with shimeji mushrooms, arugula and parmesan shavings. Well, another dish that is sinful and is the very definition of comfort food! It certainly brings a smile to your face and is just warms up the heart! Rich, delicious and an absolute stunner of a dish! Highly recommended.
8) Saffron Ravioli stuffed with Goan sausage, basil and a corn cream sauce – Saffron stuffed with spicy Goan sausages topped with basil and a creamy, silky smooth corn cream sauce. It was topped off with some pan-seared baby tomatoes. A fusion of Italian and Indian food, this dish was perfectly balanced and tasted good.
9) Thai style prawns with bird eye chilli & oyster sauce served with spiced jasmine rice – A fragrant and aromatic dish comprising of a spiced jasmine rice and Thai style prawns. The prawns were juicy, succulent and just melted in the mouth. The oyster sauce gravy was packed with flavor and complemented the jasmine rice very well.
10) Caramelized white chocolate & watermelon mousse served with a guava chilli sorbet - Love the different textures and flavours from the jelly, chocolate shards, caramel crisps and the smooth guava chilli sorbet. The guava chilli sorbet was exceptionally good and evoked childhood memories! The caramelized white chocolate and watermelon mousse was a perfect balance of sweet and refreshing, and the guava chilli sorbet gave this dish a hit of spiciness! To top it off, it is certainly the most beautiful looking dessert I’ve seen till date – totally Instagram-worthy. LOVED it! Highly recommended.
On the whole, we had an amazing experience at ‘The Sassy Spoon’. Their menu is certainly innovative, modern and exciting! The staff were polite and helpful, food was delicious, ambience was well-done up, there’s nothing more we could ask for, really! A must visit!
