Visited one if the most iconic cafes of Mumbai.
This is one of the oldest cafes which will surely give you the Classic 90's Bombay vibe.
Although, the seating is closely setup so you might feel a bit cramped.
Service was quick and the food quality was good.
Food served here is desi and videsi both and both are equally good.
The pricing is slightly on the higher side as compared to the food quantity served.
We ended up here as a part of sudden plans and it just made our night..the food ,the ambience and the crowd was just what we needed for a weekend. A must for all who havent yet explored this awwsome place..guys . Please do check it out..

Its a Busy & Lively Cafe buzzing Old world old place place charm, Except the crowds & Rustic Vibes , Nothing more about it, I guess nowadays its all about crowds rather than the ambiance. The tables & chairs hardly have any gaps. If you are in Colaba for shopping , Can give this place a try. Service was good , The Menu which is the table top has lot of variety.

It is a very old cafe situated in Colaba. The best time to visit here is on Christmas and New Year’s. Wow!!! What a vibe it is! This place has really great waiters and staff. The food is good in taste and it is a very pocket friendly place with good portion of food size. Margarita pizza here is a must try! Even the cheese balls are amazing, it is on my list every single time I visit here. The omelette is very soft and fluffy served with French fries. The Alfredo spaghetti is also great . Other dishes which I have tried here is arabiata pasta and veg pizza which were okay in taste. This place is a must visit in Colaba. Just cannot wait for my next visit!!!

Cafe Mondegar is one of the oldest yet chic cafes located in South Bombay.
The art and interior of the cafe is retro and you can also spot a juke box there.
The ambience is old school and classy
No hard liquor but they do serve beer and wine.
Our personal favourites:
Alfredo pasta which was creamy and delicious.
Fish and chips which is fried fish served with chips is a must try.
And they served ice cold beer which was excellent.
Overall the cafe is a little congested but great food and ambience.
Good food and good music with a lively atmosphere.

The Café Mondegar also known as Mondys amongst its fans, is an anytime to die for food joint whenever I am visiting South Mumbai. Sometime Mondys by itself, becomes a good reason to visit South Mumbai. Nestled right at the start of the Colaba Causeway, it probably has a heart of its own, welcoming all to its warm and cozy feel. Slightly cramped up sitting though, but sincerely I don’t mind, given all the other benefits. The awesome food, the vibrant Mario Miranda Walls and of course the Juke Box. Also stands out as a great breakfast joint. Mostly I would go for the baked beans on toast, the stuffed omelette and a mix of sausages & bacon, along with some beer from the tap. Mornings, this place is kids friendly, a relief to many family type foodies like me. The place does not serve hard liquor, but beer is good to go with the kind of awesome food they serve.
There’s no valet service available, however ample of pay & park nearby.

This is one of the oldest cafe in Mumbai. It is so crowded on weekends. It's a small place serves great food.
We ordered white sauce pasta, onion rings and fish and chips.
White sauce pasta was creamy and delicious. The onion rings were crispy and crunchy . Fish and chips were the best which I had till date.
Great food... Awesome ambience.... Decent crowd... Gives u a very new York feel... It caters and appeals to a certain section of crowd and only they would love this place... I have been in love with this place for the last 3 decades
This is one of my favorite cafe in colaba, each and every time I visit colaba causeway this is my favourite place to chill in afternoon. The ambience is too good, you will just fall in love with the place and surroundings. Tap beer they serve is best and food is good too. Five 🌟.
Being one of the oldest cafe in Mumbai, it has a very different look and feel. If you are new to the city, you must visit this place atleast once. The Arrabiata pasta here is delicious and a must try. The veg cheese burger however is average. Portions are decent. The staff is sweet and the service is fast.
You can spot the place very easily but parking is an issue. So better take a cab/ taxi.

Id give it a strict 2.5 to 3 when it comes to food. I'd say, stick to their basic Indian food and you will be very very happy !!!!

Good food, quick service and good ambience. Thats how one should sum up Mondegar. To add very light on budget. We had a grilled chicken steak, sausage platter and fish fingers. Didnt like the fish fingers at much mostly due to the fish type. But chicken steak and sausage platter was amazing. They have ham and bacon strips with the sausages which complement the food really well. They have decent beer options too but we didn't try though. I like Mondegar more than Leopold, dunno why probably due to relatively lesser crowd.
As this is my 100th review I wanted it to be special and hence I landed at this cafe which is a popular landmark and been a part of Mumbai since 1932.The staff is very polite. The crowd is a mix of people from all walks of life and the ambience is very vintage. They also have a jukebox which will take you back in time.It’s a classic cafe and you should visit it if in Mumbai. It’s the pride of Colaba Causeway and Mumbai.
Be sure to wait min 40min at weekends as it's a rush during the evenings!
Food: while asking suggestions came to know the menu has been made after lot of discussion from the management team. Order anything and you will be delighted. We have ordered couple of beers with cheese chilli toast and chicken cutlet, which was fabulous. For main ordered Chicken Mexicana and was very nice indeed.
Ambience and staff: it's very cramped and closely set up. Staff is very cool and pass good suggestions.
Price: it's on the higher side for sure.

A vibrant cafe with good music and buzzling with energy. Ordered bruschetta, it had a soft base and cheese was very fresh. However, it tasted bland. Had to add some oregano and chilly flakes to it to make it better. Veg pizza was good. The cheese was very fresh and tasted good. The base was soft and fluffy. There could have been some more veggies on the pizza. The coffee was mind blowing. It had superb aroma and taste. Coffee is a must have at this place.
The ambiance was lively but the place is quite crunched up, there was no space between tables. There was good music though.

This place was in my checklist for long and finally I visited it. We ordered : 1. Alfredo Pasta 2. Chicken with Chips 3. Hot Dog 4.Cold Coffee and Lemon Iced Tea.
1. Alfredo Pasta: Best!!! The taste was superb and the quantity is quite sufficient.
2. Chicken with chips: Didn't like that much... Tasted Chewy.
3. Hot Dog: Not a typical hot dog... Rather tasted like subway burger types.
4. Cold Coffee: Strong and nice(Note: I am a caffeine lover, mild coffee lovers may not like it)
5. Lemon Iced Tea: Okayish.. Can try.
What I didn't like is that the place is too clumsy and tables are too near to each other. Can't really enjoy the ambience.

To be fair, Café Mondegar or Mondy’s is more of a pub than a café. Even so, this landmark establishment that’s been around since 1871 deserves to make it to this list for its extensive food menu. The quirky café serves American and Indian dishes alongside beer and wine and also offers a range of Parsi and English breakfast options. Café Mondegar also stands out for its décor. A retro jukebox occupies a prominent spot in one corner and the walls feature murals designed by legendary Goa cartoonist the late Mario Miranda who spent a great deal of time in Mumbai working in the newspaper offices of the now-shut Afternoon.

Ambiance: Quirky, cozy, classic. Loved the wall painting and the equally amazing juke box. Their printed mugs caught my attention. Best part they are for sale.
Service: Prompt, friendly and courteous.
Food: Since we reached in for breakfast. We had a breakfast menu.

Why have I not written a review about this place in the past ?? I have no clue. This is without a doubt one of the most legendary places in Mumbai and has been consistent with its standard. Its charm lies in its Walla Murals by a legend by Mario Miranda. You can not separate these two things- Cafe Mondegar and its unique murals. Also the juke box here makes it a very interesting place. A heaven for non vegetarians. It has loads to offer. When we are here there is no limit on our beer consumption such is the vibe of the place. Tower of beer + long conversations!

People may find it overpriced but I think it totally deserves it.
Cafe Mondegar was started in 1932 by Iranian Zoroastrians as an Irani café. The current building Metro House, then housed a hotel called Apollo Hotel and the café was started in the reception area of the hotel. By the mid-20th century, the café introduced a jukebox which was the first in Mumbai and was simultaneously converted into a restaurant. By the 1990s, Cafe Mondegar was refurbished and the restaurant was converted into a bar. At the same time owner Rusi Yazdegardi asked Mario Miranda to draw murals on two opposite walls; i.e. wall adjacent to the main entrance and wall opposite the main entrance. Both walls have different themes. Whilst one wall is dedicated to Life in Mumbai, the other wall is dedicated to Atmosphere in the Café. Mario Miranda sketched his drawings on canvas before their being rendered on the restaurant walls with the help of students from Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art under his supervision
An amazing cafe with lovely ambience. It is an old cafe at Colaba. The food is tempting. Service is good. Staff is also friendly. It is expensive cafe but the food is worth. I tried Paneer Tikka which was too delicious. It is a good place to spend time with your friends.

I am a pizza boy and after having the chicken salami pizza from here damnn i was provoked to order it again although tummy is almost full i sacrificed my dessert for pizza it was very hard for me. The thin crust which is best and the flavor of cheese and sauce properly balanced. This was one of the best pizza i ever had will for sure visit again for pizza and may be some beer 😜
Point to know:
1) There will be waiting time to get the table at peak hours.
2) place is not that cosy or comfortable as it as very small table and conjusted place.
3) if having beer better take a tower rather than pitcher.
4) Ambiance is very good as it gives an vibe with some evergreen pop n rock songs. I loved it as am an music lover.
5) I feel this place is not up for chinese dishes as what i ordered was disappointment.
Schezwan noodles was only having red color no flavour nor spicy at all and even chicken crispy ordered was very dry from inside and lil bit bland in taste.
But the pizza❤️ covered up for all. Overall experience was good.

It was a Sunday afternoon.after we visited gateway we were hungry like anything and went to this old cafe which is a bare 5 minutes walk from gateway to satisfy our hunger..well it was fully packed but we managed a table for four of us..the ambiance was nice..food was really tempting by their look n tasted so good..my lottle one especially enjoyed the chocolate milkshake,sausages and prawns..and the chocolate mousse we opted as dessert was stunner..we left the cafe with the wish to come back in near future
Me and a group of friends who are new to Mumbai randomly stumbled upon this place, and God, am glad we did. What an amazing place. The waiters here are really sweet and courteous. Even on a packed Sunday they got us an table real fast, The food was super yumm and exceptionally great. The ambience and the music complemented each other so well, that our experience was amazing. A big thank you to all the staff, for taking such good care. Definitely coming back here ❤️
My friend from New Jersey had heard alot about this cafe and insisted us on taking her there.We ordered a ice old beer and also did order the 2 Roast chicken large plate.The roast chicken plate consisted of a garlicy brown sauce on roasted chicken thigh with fries, fried veggies and garlic bread on the side.It was a great brunch.
We were served by Dilip who was patient enough to explain what each large plate consisted.
It was overall a great experience.
The dosa was really soft and the stuffing was amazing

Triple Schezwan Fried:- This was one of my favourite dish during college time and recently tried out again, Taste was good as before.
Service was really good and friendly service staff

Got a chance to visit one of the legendary outlets in the Colaba area and wasn't disappointed. Nice place to chill for a couple of beers or wine as that is all they serve when it comes to alcoholic drinks. Lot of food options to try from and we were suggested the non veg platter which has 2 pieces each of different kebabs. All of them were nicely prepared. For the main course we ordered a very basic Egg fried rice along with some crunchy chicken and chicken in butter pepper garlic sauce. Decent portion size and they were all very tasty. The staff is very courteous and helpful and service is really quick. Also we enjoyed listening to some music on the jukebox that they have which is a rarity these days. Over all a fun place with a lovely ambience.

The legendary joint, Cafe Mondegar is situated in one of the most prime locations in Bombay - Colaba.
From the ambience, to the staff, to the food..it's only good vibes!
We started off with some Onion Rings, followed by the Fish and Chips along with their Tartar Sauce. The fish was extremely soft and melted in our mouths! We moved on to have Ham and Cheese grilled sandwich served with a side of wafers. For dessert we had the Caramel Custard and the Chocolate Mousse. Special mention goes to the Mousse which was divine! It was dense and rich in taste. An absolute must!
Such a cute little place with great ambience and aesthetics, the cold coffee here is a must try, this place also serves really tasty Omelettes specially (mushroom & cheese) great service, reservations are recommended.
Visited here last weekend and was very smitten by the ambience. The food was equally good, we ordered a pork dish and a beef steak. They tasted really good and the service time was really swift and quick. It has the creative feeling to the place not unlike coffee house in Kolkata. Will surely visit again.
Since this place is one of the oldest Mumbai, decided to pay a visist. Clustered tables in a small room with colorful walls and a bar fitted in. Tried the chicken stroganoff which was good enough for two people and some hot tea.

Ambience : It is an absolute treat for the eyes. They have beautiful interiors and a parsi theme. The place is cramped but it still feels great.
Food: we ordered chinese bhel and corn and cheese pizza. The Chinese bhel had too much tomato. The pizza was great. The quantity was ample and the food department fared pretty well.
However not all the items on the menu are available.
Service: The service is fine. The staff is well trained but have a few problems due to the cramped space. Can be improved.
Cost: The restaurant is on the costly end of the spectrum but it is worth it considering it is such an iconic place.
Overall: Must visit if you are in the area for the ambience and the vibe.
This tiny little cafe in Colaba is located at just the right location for light and tasty munching post your Gateway of India sight seeing. The inner room section of the cafe is a quiet place, so you can hop on there if you want to have some peaceful time with good food.
It was my first trip ever to Mumbai and the first cafe I tried in Mumbai and it stood up to my expectations to a great extent. The artwork on the wall was very intriguing.
I ordered Corn & Cheese Pizza with Chinese Bhel and both of them were good. The pizza was layered and had a good amount of Cheese and so much of cheese is always appreciated ❤️
I cannot really judge Chinese Bhel but it was good. I liked the extra tomato flavor in the Bhel but my friends didn't like it.

As always the place was packed and we had to wait for 20 min but the food was so worthwhile that the time did not matter.
We ordered the spaghetti carbonara twice .. let me say that "twice " so u can imagine how good it was along with which we also ordered the chicken strogonoff and the fish steak all accompanied with multiple orders of fresh watermelon juices and beer.
The atmosphere this place has is bewildering, how to people manage to wait out in the hot sun just to be able to get to eat here .. it's all in the generous and courteous staff .. they make it happen and make you feel extremely welcome.

A very nice relaxing and quaint place in middle of the city humdrum. Loved the cartoon theme on the wall, ambience is great and so is the food. They serve wine and alcohol as well, and has a very well kept washroom.

This place is one of the oldest pubs in Mumbai. It brings back old memories for so many people. One of the best hangouts in town. They serve beer and very good quality food too. They ambiance has always been pleasant and the decor has been the same over the years. A must visit for tourists and locals or people travelling from different cities too. You must try their tap beers.
Cafe Mondegar: A very crowded place, nestled between the markets of Colaba. Quirky decorations and quite a big menu describes this place. The food was tasty as well. Tried a dish for the first time and loved it (cordon bleu). In the Frames (keep swiping)-

A rather great experience at Cafè Mondegar. The place gives you the perfect vibe of a an old time cafè yet with a modern twist.
The selection of food and drinks is quite amazing and inviting. Although a bit expensive for the quantity served, Mondegar certainly lived up to its name.
Overall, it's the perfect café to visit in town either with friends or family or just about anyone.
Coming here since childhood days... Same old charisma. Always excited to be here. Came here with my kid for the first time. Very good food, awesome ambience, courteous staff, good music. Loved the jukebox. Keep it going.
It's a very pleasant place. Gives you the feel of a typical English cafe with great music and ambience. Since I had been in cafe Mondegar during Christmas, it was all decorated with Christmas stuff and was very beautiful. The food is great as well. The rates might seem a little high, but trust me the quantity of the food levels it up. It's totally worth it in terms of taste, quantity and price. Amazing cafe to hang out with friends. It servers alcohol as well.
This place was packed. We were supposed to go to Leopold cafe and good thing we came to this place. Chicken sausage was amazing. Decor were very creative. Definitely a go to place if you're around that area.
Quaint little cafe, old time food, has one of the sole surviving jukeboxes I can think of, Mario Miranda cartoons on the wall, attentive servers. Great place for a Sunday breakfast, anytime watering hole, a must visit place in Mumbai!
We chanced upon this cafe and it was bustling with activity! It is very cramped and extremely noisy and seems very busy place! Funny thing is despite all this - there is still some order and service is good despite a seeming mess! The food was very good ! Ambience is very interesting.
Mumbai's one of the best cafe! It's a landmark place. This place is usually crowded all the time. So you better book a table and go for street shopping next to the cafe. Food here is simply brilliant. They have loads of varieties... And the service was really good. Ambiance here is good.
A great place defining Mumbai at it's best. There's drinks, there's food, and there's music. Beer and Mexican food that I ordered didn't leave me wondering. It was pretty awesome. The lack of space to walk and a bit lazy response from the staff makes me save a star for next visit.
