Aaswad has always been my favourite place. Recently tried their vada pav and it had the exact same taste you'll crave for in a vada paav. Very fulfilling and worth it! Totally loving every food of this restaurant. They delivered this vada pav even in this quarantine with all safety measures in mind. Thank you for serving our cravings even in this pandemic.
Highly recommend ❤️
Its Misal keeps up to it's almost legendary image now. But the real show stealer is the sabudana wada with dahi. Outstanding Maharashtrian dishes.
Just gave a star less because of change of location from the original one.
My all time favourite place for typical Maharashtrian food.
Ambience is good with pretty interiors.
Staff is super friendly and courteous.
Some must try dishes are puran poli ice-cream, pitale bhakar, caramel custard, cheese masala pav ,piyush, vada pav.
They have come up with a diet thali which is super delicious.
Prices are pocket friendly too.
Definitely a must visit place for Maharashtrian food lovers.
Loved this place!!

This is must go for all Maharashtrian Crowd. They have all cuisine with best taste for reasonable cost. Staff is courteous and welcoming. It is usually crowded on weekends and festivals. There is a minimum wait of 30 mins. There is no parking available.
Great place to have authentic Maharashtrian delicacies.
Misal here was awards as a best vegetarian dish of the world in 2015.

We went there on Saturday afternoon, And after waiting for around 15-20 min we got the table. It’s good place to visit with Family specially if your family likes traditional taste. Great place to visit with Grandparents they will definitely like it. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Overall it was a good place and will definitely visit again.
The best vada pav i have tasted till now.
My all-time favourite place for vada pav
They serve it with spicy and sweet chutney with a hint of tamarind sauce and along with it they put chudda also in it.
World renowned fast food eatery with classical Maharashtrian delicacies. Previously situated at a prime location right opposite Shivsena Bhavan but has now been shifted to a place slightly inside and not as easy to find.
Food is amazing. One of the best misals as per many global lists.
Staff is courteous and helpful.

A Great place to have Veg Maharashtrian food when in Dadar. Visited for the first time fell in love with Vegetarian food.
I didn’t know bunking college and hogging at AASWAD MEJWANI would be so much fun, a pocket friendly and basic restaurant in the streets of Dadar was an amazing experience.
Things i have tried:
Puranpoli Icecream: being a non-Maharashtrian i always have a soft corner for puranpoli and getting a puranpoli icecream is definitely a cloud 9 for me. A perfect taste of puranpoli and bits of gulavni (jaggery milk) was indeed a good dish to recommend people
Misal pav: i am not that much into misal, but yes one thing i would like to tell about this misal is ‘appratim’ a blast of flavours and spicing was the best part of this misal
Mouth watering Marathi cuisine. Loved the misal, kothimbir vadi and tilgul ice cream
The place to go for authentic Marathi food. Was lucky that a friend took me there!
One can always head to Aaswad for delicious maharashtrian food and you won't regret and enjoy the tasty food.Highly recommended
Best food so good that ate it quick that couldn’t click a picture!
Definitely visiting again.

And inspite of all the crowd the service was really good and appreciable.
I tried this restaurant for the first time and food was too good . Everything we tried was excellent specially thaleepeth and mango lassi
I will strongly recommend this restaurant .
What a place
It was highly recommended by my friend hence went there
Kothimbir wadi was the amazing dish I had
Pithla bhaji bhakri was the typical Maharashtrian dish served with loni (unsalted butter) and thecha (chilli chutney)
Misal pav was one of the most loved dishes
Lastly we had puranpoli ice-cream
It was amazing
This restaurant is full of Maharashtrian flavour

Amidst Non-Maharashtrian restaurants in mumbai, really good to see outlet serving Authentic Maharashtra Cuisine. Pithla Bhaji Bhakri and Thalipith are MUST TRY!
Would have given 5 stars had they accepted card payments.
Aaswaad is one of the oldest restaurants in Dadar known for their authentic Maharashtrian cuisine.
Expect a waiting here whenever you go because even after being a big plave and ample of seating available the place is always full.
We reached during lunch hours and was there were many people already waiting. As we were just two of us, we got a table in a while.
The ambiance is a classic old school restaurant with wooden tables and chairs. Don't expect much from the ambiance but the food is so so mouth watering.
What we had..
Kothimbir Wadi
Thalipeeth
Vada Pav
Varan Bhaat
Matki Ussal
Pithla Bhaji Bhakri
Tea
The staff is very polite and suggests well what to have. Service is quick. The place is very light on the pocket and is total value for money. A place I can go to when I'm in the vicinity.
Keep it up..!!
Delicious to the core... Literally everything ordered at this restaurant was "Oh so good". We went here on a Sunday night and the restaurant was packed with people waiting outside. We had to wait for almost 45 minutes to get a table, but it was definitely worth the wait. Aaswad has been around since 1984 and is famous for it's Maharashtrain delicacies. We ordered Misal Pav, Vada Pav, Kothimbir Vadi, Sabudana Vada, Rava Dosa and Kulfi Falooda. I practically loved everything. Although my least favourite was their Rava Dosa. The Misal and Vada Pav was bursting with flavours. It was the first time I tried Kothimbir Vadi and this has been added to my list of favourites. I requested them for Garlic Chutney and Coriander Chutney as they were typically serving coconut Chutney with most of the dishes. The Garlic and Coriander Chutney were brilliant and perfect accompaniments for the Sabudana Vada and Kothimbir Vadi. The Kulfi Falooda was sinfully yummy! It also had Sabja and chunks of jelly. The service was prompt as well. Aaswad deserves all the recognition and popularity.
Misal And Ice cream both were amazing 😍
Great service
Value for money.
Aaswad the Maharashtrian food special restaurant become popular about 5 years ago when it received the award for Most tasty vegetarian dish in London. Ever since the place has seen increase in footfalls. The restaurant was located opposite Sena Bhavan, but since couple of years it has shifted few hundred meters away, to its current location.
This place is a Veg only and serves typical Maharastrian food. We have been there before and savored the Misal Pav which is poplular over here. This time we decided to try out some other dishes along with Misal Pav.
We ordered the Batata Vada, Kothimbir Vadi, Poha, Thali peeth and of course Misal Pav.
The Batata vada was served with coconut chutney and dry garlic chutney. It was hot and tasty. The Kothimbir Vadi had two big slices and garlic chutney. This also passed the test of taste. Although it could've been better.
One dish we loved was the Thali peeth. It was Crispy and served with White butter. The taste was awesome! Definitely thumbs up!
Finally we come to Misal Pav. Well- what else can you say about the dish which has won an award in London. It is the best selling dish over here and people from far away in city come to enjoy it. The Misal Pav has become the signature dish of Aaswad.
So if you are around Dadar, Shivaji Park area, make it a point to visit this place where they serve authentic food from Maharstra. Misal Pav should definitely be on your wish list, but don't forget to try Thali peeth as well.
The food here is just awesome and very authentic taste, all mumbaiker show try. My suggestion
1. Pithale Bhaji Bhakri (very tasty)
2. Thalipith
3. Kothimbir Vadi
4. Kharvas
Best restaurant for marathi authentic food.
Highly recommended items:
Misal pav,Piyush,Batata vada,thali pith,kharvas,modak.
Do visit ones.
Aaswad is famous for its maharashtra cuisine quick bites centre. Puri Bhaji is must try dish over here. Piyush tastes good along with it. ❤️ Highly recommended for quick midday meal 😋
I am a fan of their Misal. All time favourite food. The place is affordable, clean and lively.
It's amazing how Aaswad has maintained its high standards of cuisine and delivery. And that too, while resisting the lure of increasing prices despite the huge demand. Had a sumptuous lunch for three for less than ₹800. Tastes as good as home made food. Keep it up. Do visit for authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian cuisine.
It has a proper authentic taste... It feels so good after eating 😊
It came with kadhi, kurdai, some chutney, fried pickeled chilly & most yummy puran filled karanji...🤤🤤😋
Must must try for maharastrian cuisine. The wada pav, kothimbir wadi, thalipith, misal, kharwas everything that you try you will love. The maharastrian flavors are spicy yet tasteful! It's always packed yet fast moving. Its one of the oldest places to taste this kind of cuisine!
I had ordered pavbhaji with instruction to make it “less spicy as want for a child”. In spite of this the pavbhaji was regular spicy. Why do you ask to give special instructions??
After a long queue got to eat there..misal was too good..kothambir was also tasty..service is prompt
One must definitely try this place for some authentic Maharashtrian delicacy.
Food is amazing, pure from the heart of Maharashtra. Courteous staff and pocket friendly menu will leave you with some really good experience.
The place is always crowded and think that is a true sign that the wait will be worthwhile. 😋
Does this restaurant require any further praise ! No, just go for it, everything is good here.
The service here is great and appreciable. Cost of the items are affordable and staff is also quite supportive . A vegetarian hotel with very beautiful and peaceful ambience . Well decorated hotel as well . It's quite famous in Dadar West also for Maharashtrian food . Very reasonable restaurant , thali pit is just wow 💯💝
Food quality is really good and amazing, but food service is slow. Hotel staff is very friendly with all the customers. Hotel environment is fantastic.
aaswad is an all time favourite restaurant for breakfast.if you are a maharashtrian then this is the best place to have breakfast at.thalipithi, misal pav, vade, varan bhat are the best dishes to eat
One of the best places for an authentic Maharashtrian food and that too pure vegetarian! There is a huge waiting list most of the time, so keep an additional half an hour in your timetable. The seating is compact and if you are a big group, you might not get to sit together. All their dishes are amazing, so it'll be difficult to pinpoint any one, but do try - the kothimbir wadi, thalipeeth, misal and kokam sarbat. There's really no need to write more. Just go ahead and visit.
Famous for it's Misal Paav and Pitala Bhakri Dishes. Comfy Ambience and Cleanliness at it's best. Must try Mango Lassi and Vada Paav . Wholesome and good quantity.
Well without any doubt, this place is one of the best places to go for maharashtrian food. In the heart of Mumbai, Prabhadevi, this is just near the landmark Shivaji Park.
We tried:
1) Kothambir Wadi - Made with a combination of fresh coriander leaves, gram flour and yogurt served hot with red chilli & garlic powder chutney along with fresh mint and coconut chutney. Unlike made crispy at home, this is nice and soft.
2) Misal Pav - Misal pav is a popular dish from Maharashtra. Their misal is spicy matki curry topped with farsan, onions, lemon and coriander. I can never get enough of this.
3) Puran Poli - Loved the whole idea of serving Puran Poli with flavored milk. I love their traditional style made with roasted chana flour and Jaggery, dry and flat.
4) Piyush - this place serves the best piyush in the city. It is a combination of shrikhand and buttermilk. Must try.
This is a 7 star place wherein you get good maharashtrian food.
Must try!
Aaswad very nice restaurant nice ambiance good quality of food and lovely crowd.. service is also prompt and you will love the food too
I had ordered kothimbir vadi, dosa, uttappam, toast sandwich. All were very delicious. They have many varieties. The price is reasonable. We went to Shree Siddhivinayak temple and from there it is not much far.
Would highly recommend Sabudana Wada as well as the Butter Pav Bhaji here. However, the Misal came in with chunks of potato which I personally didn’t quite like much but overall the taste was good.
Aaswad is an affordable place with a decent ambience. If you’re somewhere around Dadar and want to snack on something then do consider this.
This place is specially known for authentic maharashtrian cuisine and its located dadar west opposite to amar hind mandal. They are also serving south indian , desserts, mithai and fast food along with the maharashtrian food. I visit this place to spend quality time with my family. Almost crowded place therefore table booking must required. Arangment of siting was nice and specious whereas the staff was polite and friendly. Orders are quickly served by staff.
So we had here , cheese sada dosa , kothimbir vadi , thali peeth , lassi and puran icecream. All food items ordered by us are really amazing perfectly made and cooked. In this puran icecream was different which includes liquid form puran and anjeer icecream ( highly recommended ).
So i suggest to all of you please visit this place , totally worth it !!!
What a gem of a place to try Maharashtrian cuisine. We ordered batata vada, puri bhaji, kothimbir vadi, tea & kokum juice. Loved each and everything. Kothimbir vadi was superb. Chutney served along was so flavourful. Kokum juice was perfect to beat the heat. Pricing is nominal and service was very prompt. Had a lovely Sunday breakfast.
Old aswad hotel has been relocated. With new and fresh interior. If you looking for maharashtrain food, snacks go for it. Misal is all time good here. Thalipith was good but the size very small like two puri size but it served with fresh spoonfull loni.. overall dont think much for quick snack or weekend/weekday friend family meeting a good place over some maharashtrain food..
It's been almost a year since we ordered from Aaswad but we still haven't forgotten the delight from that Sunday brunch with our house guests. They'd never eaten these dishes and everything was outstanding. Also well packed for delivery.
The restaurant is spacious, has two floors, lighting is soft and table arrangement is comfortable.
The food was delicious and authentic and was served hot and fresh with quick and efficient service.
The staff was polite and courteous also giving us suggestions and being attentive making us feel welcome and valued.
Price was reasonable ₹ 1200/- for four people, ₹300/- per person.
Although the restaurant has high wait time on weekends, weekdays are comparably leisurely.
Simple Maharashtrian food with smiling sincere service. It can get a bit crowded and there's always a little wait time. But such a good place for simple and tasty food. Almost home cooked feel to it.
A perfect place for delicious Maharashtrian delicacies.
We tried the Kothimbir Vadi, Birda Usal(Vaal Konkan style), Multigrain Thalipeeth, Poori Bhaji(Potato bhaji homestyle), Masale Bhat, Butter Milk and Solkadhi.
Everything was perfect in taste and texture, the Kothimbir Vadi was crisp, the Vaal Birda was prepared in Konkan style with a dash of coconut and almost no masala!! The Thalipeeth was really crisp and with perfect amount of spices, served with dollops of white butter!!
The Potatoes were mashed and tempered with mustard seeds and green chillies. The solkadhi was well prepared. All in all a welcome change from the gravy induced paneer centred Punjabi food.
Must visit if you want to try something delicious and give your tastebuds a chance to relish something really special ! :)
This is a perfect place to dine-out with your family and friends. It's almost crowded everyday during dinner hours. We waited for an hour to get inside and have their Pithhale Bhaaji Bhakri, Kothimbir Vadi, Missal Pav, Lassi, Caramel Custard and Kharvas. The food was delicious and yummy. The service was prompt and the staff was welcoming. Definitely worth visiting.
Must visit this place just opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan....almost more then 38yrs of legacy
Each and every dish is tasty
One of the oldest and most traditional places in Dadar. The food is authentic and amazing maharashtrian flavours. Whenever my non-marathi friends come to Mumbai, I take them to this place. Misal, vadapav, thali peeth, sabudana Vada, Kothimbir vadi are amazing. The seasonal Ambadal is also amazing. Piyush is something I highly recommend. The ambiance is too good. They have ground and 1st floor. I personally prefer the 1st floor, it has an amazing view. In the end try their caramel custard pudding it is yummy.
One of the most iconic places in the region! Their misal and South Indian food is really good. The modak was disappointing, however the piyush and kothimbir wadi were the best I have ever had! The place is usually crowded and more so on weekends so either go very early or be prepared to wait for a long time to get in. However, the food is worth the wait.
The ambiance wo so nice and tidy as well as they gave Maharashtrian touch to their decoration.
If you want to dine in you need to wait as it is so popular it was so crowded at lunch time so please book your seats before going.
I tried their misal pav and thalipeeth.
The food was good not that much worth the hype but it was nice you can try it once as everyone's taste is diffrent but i can say that i have eaten more delicious misal than aswad.
As well as thalipeeth was also okayiesh. Overall experience was nice.
Being one of the Busiest Restaurant that I have know through out the week.. doesn't matter if it's week end or week need to give Min 20 Min post 12:30 pm in waiting for your number to come...Staff handling waiting of Guest is great ,Stewards and Service team is prompt to help you with suggestions Menu offering ..
I pick on the Menu is Aluwadi / Patra best I ever had...Followed by Jowari Bakri with Patal Baji, Accompaniment is White butter with Red Chilly chutney + Onion Chutney is mind blowing ...I love perfect balance of Dish with White butter icing ...
Must visit to Iconic landmark for Food at Dadar ,Opp Sena Bhavan ...
Very good experience.
The Misal was good with the perfect balance of spices and sprouts.
The vada pav was too good bcoz of the flavour and texture and the chutney was spot on.
The kothimbir vadi was ok overall
The sabudana vada was good nicely done
And the last was poha which was pretty decent.
Overall great experience……
The best Maharashtrian food. Very authentic and loads of variety of food available
Tried the

The staff was also very nice. He helps if he sees that you’re having trouble in how to eat.
Very nice experience overall.
So tasty food at affordable rates. Highly recommended. The management and staffs are so friendly and cooperative. Will visit this place again definitely.
There's usually a waiting of 15-20 mins which is completely worth it. They should look for expanding into other areas of the city.
The food is amazing. Authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Thali peeth, Kothimbir vada, Poori peeyush, Pitla, Varan baat, Puran poli, everything was tasty and delicious. Family enjoyed it.
Went today, on a Sunday and had to wait 90 minutes to get into the restaurant. Large crowds waiting to get in.
If planning to go on weekends then plan to have brunch at 12 pm or late lunch at around 3.30pm to avoid the long wait.
Food was worth the wait though. Will definitely plan to come again and again.
Thalipeth, Kothimbir Vadi, Sabudana Vada, Aloo Tikki Chaat, Puran Poli, and Piyush – these dishes are an absolute delight and have a flavor that reaches the pinnacle of taste. I highly recommend savoring them during the evenings, particularly on weekdays, as the restaurant tends to get extremely crowded on weekends. Among the various offerings on the menu, the star dishes showcases the culinary excellence of the restaurant.
Every time I visit here and the food quality never disappoints me.
Best for Misal, Thalipith and so many maharashtrian food. Love it, must try.
Very quick service. Located just in front of Sena Bhawan, easily accessible. The taste was authentic Maharashtrian. Must visit at least once. Do try thalipith, vada pav, pitla bhaji bhakri and kothambir vadi.
They never disappoint.
