I ordered Dil Khush dosa which was yummy filled with a lot of veggies like onions, capsicums, tomatoes etc. Served with sambar and chutney. It was mild in taste not so spicy. Secondly I ordered veg grilled sandwiches along with cheese though it was small in quantity but satisfactory. Overall food is good in quality as well as quality. Taste is pure south Indian. Ambience is nice and open. Staff is friendly and service is good.
Ambience- 4/5

A lunch well spent . The dosa , uttapam and coffee (kaapi) was just too awesome . I just gave it a 4 because I comparatively like cafe madras more
Matunga has a good number of old famous south Indian restaurants like Arya Bhavan, Ram Ashraya, Cafe Madras & Cafe Mysore.👍
Cafe Mysore serves amazing dosas. Being a famous Restaurant in the area, Weekends have a waiting period. The ambience is simple. They have 2 sections lower one is Non-AC & Upper section is AC.☺️
We ordered Dilkhush Dosa & Khotto Idli.✌️
Khotto Idli is fresh, soft & fluffy idli wrapped & steamed in jack fruit leaves. We tried it for the first time, it was a bit dry for the mouth but it tasted good with chutney & sambar.😉
Dilkhush Dosa is one of the owner recommended dish. It is filled with veggies & cheese.😋 Totally Recommended 👍👍
Dilkhush Dosa - 165 Rs.☺️
Khotto Idli - 75 Rs.☺️

Old is Gold. This is the best South Indian cafe in the area having been established way back in 1930. A no frill restaurant their Dosas are legendary. It is always difficult to find seating during the lunch and breakfast time but the wait is worth it. They also sell great range of South Indian snacks
Mysore cafe always makes it on my list when i am around this side of mumbai. I do not wish to compare them with their competitors around but will surely give a small advice that they need to pump up the game a little which is why mysore cafe is my 3rd favorite in my list of places in matunga east.
Mysore Café is a popular South Indian Mysuru restaurant at Matunga Circle, Mumbai. The restaurant was established in the 1930 and its popular meeting cum eating joint for many generations. Its popular also with students as it has a number of prestigious educational institutions close by.
The taste is superb . Quantity adequate and the hygiene quality is super !
One of the best cafes/resturants for South Indian Food in Central Part of Mumbai
Very old and iconic cafe in Matunga. Well known for its south Indian food.We had
Rasam vada: It's their speciality. Round vadas floating in piping hot spicy sambar is a great combo
Neer dosa : Thin rice dosa served with two types of delicious chutneys.
Filter coffee: Of course
visit to this place is incomplete without its coffee
Tea : was good but they didn't have an option for sugarless tea.
Great place for South Indian food
If you are around Matunga, and want to try Dilkhush dosa, then this is the place to visit - Cafe Mysore. Also dont miss their Mysore Pak which is really good
I went here after exams with my friend and We all were very hungry. Wanted to eat something which will make us full. It one of the best south Indian restaurant I have ever being to. The size of dosa or uttapam was big enough that we couldn't finish it all. They worth it. I ordered lassi, buttermilk, pineapple sheera, onion uttapam, masala dosa, rava Mysore dosa and cheese uttapam. Every dish was too delicious except the cheese uttapam, it wasn't at all worthy. Sliced cheese was put on it which was the worst thing as in some points you get cheese and at some points only plain uttapam. But if you see except the cheese uttapam every dish was mouth watering.
Oldest Jewel of Matunga☺️
Cafe Mysore @cafe_mysore
Last weekend it was Anand Bhuvan and this time it was the oldest south indian food eatery in Matung started by the famous Rama Nayak's son (of the famous Rama Nayak Udupi restaurant near Matunga station-that review will be up soon too) that was on our list.
Here we tried,
The traditional medu wada sambar which was tasty.
Coconut sevai is the traditional Konkani style seviya made from rice flour and mixed with grated coconut and a basic mustard and dal tempering. I did not find it as soft and tasty as it should be.
Ghee roast dosa, is a perfectly crisp plain dosa made with ghee and this one was delicious, thin papery crisp and just the way we both love it.
Podi idli, is the traditional idli served with molgapodi/gun powder ( dry chutney made with mixed dals/lentils). Idlis were soft and spongy however podi smeared with ghee tastes much better. Here the podi was just sprinkled over the idlis and there should have been some salt too.
All dishes were served with coconut chutney which was tasty and sambar. I felt the sambar had unbalanced proportion of dal and coconut and I loved the one from Anand Bhuvan better. However, I am very critical about my sambar so probably I am going into too many details. But it definitely qualifies in tasty category 😃
All this was billed Rs. 270
I would rate it a 3.5/5
We started our day with a stop at the legendary Cafe Mysore. We tried their Khotto, Idli Gadbad, Rasam Vada, Onion Rava Dosa and their Raja Coffee. The standout for us was the Onion Rava Dosa which had a nice crunch to it and a mild hint of spice imparted by the cumin in the batter. Special mention for the Khotto and their Rasam Vada. Khotto is a special idli steamed in jackfruit leaves which imparts a subtle taste to the idli. We ended with their Raja Coffee, which is their filter coffee; and the perfect way to end our stop. One can easily see as to why they have maintained their popularity over the years.
Nice place to eat South Indian food like the special dosa and mysore also good place to explore, coffee was very good no fancy things or interior proper simple food
It is a small and peaceful location in matunga. Sat in the a/c section of the seating. Very accommodating staff.
Started with the mysore dosa with and without cheese. As the titular dish, it was made very well that after the food was over, I ordered another one.
Next was a puri bhaaji. The bhaaji with a drop of lemon was just too good.
Topped this meal of with a personal favourite of pineapple sheera. It reminded me of the same made by my mom. Sweet but not too much and little chunks of pineapple to cut that sweetness, was just too good.
Definitely going to visit here again if I am in this area.

I have been eating here for over a decade. It’s my fav South Indian joint. Definitely the best Mysore dosa ever; and I love it’s sambhar and filter coffee. I could literally eat here everyday!
Such old and legendary places never fail to impress us with its delicious food. I have been visiting this place since a kid and I really like it. The service is very fast and staff guys are very well trained. This place is very well known for its dosas, idli , wadas and filter coffee. The quality had been well maintained and the quantity is also decent. The pricing is also average and not very heavy on your pockets. So if you are in Matunga, please do visit this place and to relish super amazing South Indian food.
This is one of my favourite place when it comes to South Indian food. Its located on the Kinds Circle, in Matunga. Medu vadas, Rava Dosas, Masala Dosa, Upma and filter coffee are my best dishes here.Service is quick and they also have a seating on the first floor which they normally open when its too crowded or on the weeke ends. Waiting can be an issue here on weekends in the evenings but the food is worth its wait.
A perfect place to visit for South Indian dishes specially dosa.
The variety of dosas and idlis over here is amazing. My overall experience was amazing. Staff service is good. I would highly recommend this place.

The most authentic test of purity quality and service. Banana bhajji very delicious. Do not leave without coffee. Love the dosa and also shweta as well.only thing is card machine was not working
Older than than most restaurants in mumbai, this south indian wonder serves amazing food! Their Rasam is an affair! The filter coffee was a delight.
I found the prices a wee bit more. Just a little wee bit. Hence the 4 stars
Been going to this place for years now! Interesting how things are the same yet the place has evolved! The Mysore dosa sets the gold standard for the real thing . Amazing! The newer dilkhush was yummy but a bit heavy! The Puri bhaji remains yummy! Don't forget to pick up potato chips or banana chips on your way out! They even have a low calorie one for whatever it's worth!
Matunga is very famous for South Indian food. Cafe Mysore is also one of the oldest and place where you get best South Indian food.
I have been here multiple times.
Service is quick and good.
Ambiance is basic.
They have AC and non AC seating.
Ground floor is non AC and first floor is AC,
This place is closed on Wednesday
Food is Value for money.
One can even get to buy dry snacks here like banana wafers, chakli, etc.
In my multiple visits I have had:
1. Neer Dosa
2. Rasam Vada
3. Onion Rava Dosa
4. Filter Coffee
Rasam here is really yummy. Filter Coffee is must have for me in my every visit..

Tucked away on the main Matunga Circle, this South Indian Restaurant has many years to boast.
Their specialities include the,
1) Khotto Idli (idli batter steamed in a basket weaved with jackfruit leaves, known to reduce gas and acidity),
2) Idli Gadbad (idli loaded with onions, dahi and missal)
3) Dilkhush Dosai (the bast way to make your dil truly khush)
Gulp it all down with their delicious King Coffee (freshly brewed hot and aromatic authentic south indian filter Kaaapi)
They have a wide variety of dosas, idlis, vadas, puris, etc.
They're always crowded due to their high quality.
Staff is friendly and service is very quick.
Ambience is the regular and simple style.
Rates are reasonable.
Good Hospitality.
Ambience was ok.
Food was tasty.
One of the best places for south indian food.
I liked their dosa, uttapam and Vada rasam.
A perfect place for South Indian food lover.
I found this place quite expensive but the food they serve is delicious. The chatni and sambar here have distinct traditional taste.
I was here for breakfast. The food is nice and they have two floors. One is ac and downstairs nonac.I ordered tomato upma,Idli Sambhar and filter coffee. They have their specialty dishes too.
Awesome place for good food.. staff and owners r so friendly, chap specialist.. must try ... all items r tasty... nice place to hangout. overall this is no. 1 place for having food.
Reunion with long lost friends from 6 years.
Sat here in the AC section and ordered garma garam Idli, Wada , Sambar and upma, filter coffee.
everything tastes good and was served hot & quick.
Perfect quick lunch with friends - definitely coming back.
Enjoyed this place the most out of its well known competitors for south indian food in the vicinity.
Had a good Indian breakfast today 😋
On the plate-
First up we have Masala Dosa
Then Khotto Idli which is Idli wrapped in jackfruit leaf.
Next up we have Poha Upma and Upma Sheera 🍴
An old South Indian restaurant which serves all the South Indian dishes, highly recommended if you are up for some delicious food!
Our go to place for breakfast located at king circle, Matunga. They served scrumptious South Indian food. After going there multiple times and trying almost everything off the menu I would recommend the Mysore dosa, khotto idli, rassam Wada, Dil Khush Dosa and their low oil masala wafers.

Had been to this restaurant for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Matunga is usually very crowded during breakfast in the weekends. You are expected to queue up in the sun and wait. There is no one taking down names or calling customers as per their turn. Anyway, after about 15 minutes we did manage to get a place.
We had dahi vada (not a good option, the curd had not permeated into the bhalla (vada) and it was too bland). The masala dosa was very good, served with sambar and coconut chutney. Please remember that the restaurant does not customize anything. We had wanted onions to be put into the masala dosa but they simply refused despite having rawa onion dosa in their menu (but we didn't want a rava dosa). Then came pooris and aam ras. This is seasonal and was yummy. The pooris are light and fluffy. The filter coffee is one thing which I never miss at a South Indian restaurant. Here too, I am not disappointed.
Like most South Indian restaurants (especially in Matunga), the restaurant does not provide much of an ambiance and want you to scoot when you are done eating. This restaurant goes one step ahead and even puts up a notice saying "Please come here for eating only, not for meeting!"
Service is prompt - to the extent that your bill is presented even before you can order your coffee. The next customers are sent up before you have left the table.
Its right opposite cafe madras . Visited today itself . The food is good and the service is very quick. The dosas are very good and crispy . Ordered for masala dosa and sada dosa both were amazing . Idli wada and idli sambhar drip was too good . The filter coffee was strong and we could adjust our sweetness of the coffee . Over all its a good place and not very expensive.
One of the oldest authentic South Indian restaurants in Mumbai. Located at a walkable distance from Matunga Railway Station
The food here is awesome. We had Mysore Masala dosa and their famous Filter coffee. The prices are a bit on the higher side but the quality of food and their service is good.
You can get your fill of some amazing food, especially South Indian food, at Café Mysore. The food is simple, tasty, and reasonably priced. And, of course, you'd have the pleasure of eating at one of the oldest restaurants in Mumbai.
I went at a time when the place was relatively less crowded and got a place easily. My friend and I ate the puri bhaji, dilkhush dosa, pineapple sheera, and drank filter coffee; all amazing. The service and staff are efficient.
This place is located just next to UDIPI hotel and Just chill hotel... This place is famous for its south indian dishes... One of them is the khotto idli is very tasty and the club sandwich is very tasty here... Ambience is also good...
I love Matunga place as it offers so many places to have south Indian food. As this outlet is the oldest south Indian restaurant, I planned to go here with my friends.
I had their masala dosa, one lunch thali and filter coffee. The thali was very filling as it had sabzi, puri, rice, chaas and the most delicious pineapple sheera. Loved it thoroughly.
The masala dosa was also very good and the filter coffee, without a say, was perfect.
Its near king circle signal. Just next to Udipi restaurant serving mouth watering delicious south indian food since many years.
Happened to be our first time here.
What we ordered.
- IDLI GADBAD
-MYSORE MASALA DOSA
-RASAM WADA
-IDLI SAMBAR
-ONION UTTAPAM
-RAVA MASALA DOSA
-TOAST OMLET
FILTER KAAPI
Totally a fan of their idli gadbad.
I didnt find the rasam tht tasty.
Mysore masala was also so good.
Wanted to try their speciality DILKHUSH DOSA. but was not available when we were there.
The idlis were super soft and dosas were crsip and nice.
Also ordered IDLI FRY. A must try out here.
Lovely cool and quite place to enjoy your south indian food to your heart's content. Loved it. Must visit.👍✌️
Best south Indian with authentic yet reasonable. I had been here couple of times and I am really impressed with it. One thing I hate is the waiting time here in this restaurant
Thank you cafe Mysore for being the most wonderful and unexplored South Indian restaurant..
Frankly, we went to this restaurant because there was much less waiting time here than the rest of the other famous ones but we don’t regret this at all and would really visit again for sure..
We arrived at this restaurant at around 9.20 am on a Sunday. Our turn came quick, service was quick, seating was comfortable (except for the AC which has no temperature control - as told by the staff), staff - courteous, food—— superb... we tried rassam vada, plain idli, dilkhush dosa..
It’s value for money. And good taste. Highly recommended! Kudos!
A place which serves Amazing dosas! Do try dilkhush dosa it's superb. Also we had a butter Sadha dosa and onion utthappa! Really good service and peaceful ambience.
A place which serves absolutely lip smacking dosas! Have been a regular during my college days and keep visiting the same after! The Mysore dosa is the must have!
Being a man from Matunga, I frequent this South Indian restaurant frequently. Located bang in Kings Circle’, it cannot be missed. It’s the same as it used to be about 30 years ago. That’s as far as I can remember going to Cafe Mysore as a child. Nothing much has changed since then. The food is as delicious and as authentic as it used to be back then. I just love their Paper Dosa since I was a child. That’s a dish I always order on each of my visits. As other South Indian restaurants have , they too have their own distinct flavour in the Chatni and Sambar.
They have 2 seating arrangements. One in the ground floor and an air conditioned one above it. The service is prompt and courteous as all other restaurants in Matunga are.
They also have their own packaged dey South Indian snacks which they sell on the ground floor. Some of them are my favorites till date and I usually grab a few of them when I’m passing by.
I’d highly recommend visiting this restaurant as it too has the highest quality of food and a prompt service.
With so many multi cuisine restaurants coming up in Matunga, these South Indian restaurants are still thriving and running at peak capacity on all days. Weekends have a waiting period. What more to say about this restaurant. It’s an absolute treat to your taste buds.
Good restaurant for South Indian food
Once a while we prefer going there esp sambhar of cafe Mysore is good
My son had enjoyed puri there
It quite near to my home and has value for money
All time favourite south indian restaurant..have been there since years and still the same..their idli gadbad is a musttt try...😍.. the bisibeela bhat is average though..the chutney dosa is also delicious..
On the occasion of world Idli day, and when I was feeling absolutely homesick, a trip to Cafe Mysore is all I needed to enjoy soft idlis, flavored sambhar, crispy dosas prepared authentic Kannadiga style.
Please setup shop in Navi Mumbai.
Located in matunga east.. it is a great restaurant for south indian dishes... The mysore dosa is good of this restaurant.. staff is good and polite
The key word is South Indian Food 😊 This cafe is one of the oldest in King Circle Matunga area.
I went with one of my colleague after office hours for quick munch.
Ambience is very simple.. They have got 2 floors, upper one being air conditioned..Service is quick..
We ordered ->
Idli Wada Sambhar - 4/5
Sambhar was served hot on top of Idli Wada .. Tasted yum ... I would have preferred the Sambhar being little more spicey. I think I have eaten better idli wala sambhar at few other places.
Onion Utappam - 4.5/5
This was baap !! Loved it ..was crispy & chillies within it brought the bite out of it. Half a point minus for Sambhar.
Omlet Sandwich - 3.5/5
This I felt was a little let down.. The filling was on drier side which made the sandwich more drier.
Overall nice experience .. Would definitely had to comeback to try other stuff :)
Taste wise it was great and it will be light on your pocket too. I ordered a mysore masala dosa and wada sambhar. Both tasted well. However the restaurant needs to improve on ambience. 1 point less for ambience
Cafe Mysore is a nice place . AC seating on the first floor. However it's biggest competition Is from cafe Madras next door. Notwithstanding that and due to the long an frustrating Sunday evening queue at cafe Madras tried out this place. Neat and clean. Good service. Had KHOTO idlis steamed in jackfruit leaves. Supposed to reduce acidity. Quite nice . Normal.idlis were soft n fluffy. Neer dosa was not crisp.a expected but was tasty. Paneer uttapam was decent an filling. Lassi and chaas were nice n tasty. Costs are really low. All this for approx 600. Overall a good experience . May visit again.
Cafe Mysore is one of the oldest restaurant here. Has prompt service, courteous staff and good quality good. Must try their filter coffee. If you plan to visit over the weekend then be prepared to stand in line. But it’s compensated to quality food
This place is cool.
I have ordered khooto idli, this is the special dish here .The idli was very tasty ,also the lemon juice and rava dosa (5/5) was very amazing.
Love to visit this place .
Great place for South Indian cuisine!
Good seating and prompt service.
We tried Onion Rava Masala Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Idli Sambar and Filter Coffee.
Also tried Dilkhush Dosa, which was delectable!
It was authentic, great tasting and quite filling too!
Will definitely visit again!
Cafe Mysore is one of the top popular eateries and is good for the one and only place to offer the crunchy munchy sumptuously the best garlicy mysore sada dosa..ask for the extra garlic chutney but use it with caution 😊 The other items are good as well..upma medu wada etc are all good..the rasam is lovely and can be taken as a parcel as well!!!
Best place to hvae Rassam Wada and Filter coffee..
Haved this outlest of rmany years and orefer this as there is huge waiting time at rest of Matunga spl restaurants
A well recognised and a reputed place in this area. Famous for its South Indian food.
If you love South Indian food you must visit this place.
They serve authentic food.
It's a fairly neat place, they also have A/C in the upper floor.
Value for money- 5/5
It's really crowded in the morning for breakfasts.
Things to try are: Mysore dosa, idlis , vadas ,filter coffee.
Amazing place with such good options in south indian food. Medu wada, pineapple sheera, filter coffee and so many other things on the menu, all taste great. Luckily there is an AC seating as well on the 1st floor which is really apt during hot summers. Love this place and i go here almost every month.
Another iconic place in matunga. There may have been numerous debates on which is the best south indian cafe in matunga - people usually vote for madras cafe but i would vote for mysore cafe - most of the menu is the same with one major difference - the sambhar at mysore cafe is much better.
A wonderful treat for all south indian food lovers for sure!!
Wow this restaurant is heaven for south indian delicacy. Everything is good over here. We tried lots of dishes which include dosa, rava dosa, neer dosa, medu wada, pudi idli, sheera and many more. All were amazing. The chutney and sambhar is also too good. The rates are very reasonable. The ambience is of typical south indian restaurant and service is quick.
Great South Indian restaurant in Matunga, Mumbai. It is actually the oldest South Indian restaurant in Mumbai and the quality is a testimony of that
The food is exceptional over here. All dosa types were amazing and so was the Gadbad Idli. Their ‘Thali’ was stomach filling and tasty. Peri Peri Fried Idli was a hit! The desserts are quite amazing- especially the Pineapple Sheera
Prices are very reasonable too!
Snacks are also available in the store
Go to this place for the best South Indian food in Mumbai!
Cafe Mysore is a small cafe located near king circle, it's one of the oldest cafes. Sitting is available here with around 8 to 10 tables. Ambience is not attractive, but decent.
Food here tastes so delicious. Even though after so many years food quality is top notch. South Indian cuisine is a must try here. Serving time is very low & rates are affordable.
Food : the food is amazing. Quality, Quantity and taste was Bang on
Service: friendly and quick service
The place is usually crowded for breakfast, but you don't have to wait to long for a seat.
Very authentic southern Indian restaurant! I’ve been there for the first time but it’s one of the fav restaurants of my Indian friends. Highly recommended.
Coffe is also great. Extremely fair pricing and a typical Indian flair. A must see for foreigners!
I’ve you want to brunch there make sure to come before 1pm- otherwise it will be very crowded. We came at 12:30 which was perfect- we easily got a seat.
You can’t make any reservation!
The classic South Indian old restaurant of king circle matunga. One of the ram Nayak og. More famous because of Mukesh Ambani favourite hangout during his engineering days. Cofffe and jackfruit idli is must. Affordable.
Mainly is the authentic chutney.
I feel Rama Shray, cafe madras and cafe Mysore are the kingpins of South Indian authentic food in Mumbai. Always eat in these three places.
No fuss eatery serving the best of South Indian breakfast items! Idli, dosa, rasam wada - just go with any of these and you won't be disappointed! Among the many stars of Matungas culinary galaxy, Cafe Mysore has its own charm. Do visit for a quick bite!
It’s one of the finest south Indian restaurant in mumbai. Really good food and good taste. It’s so old and the authenticity is still maintained. Really nice vibe. It’s crowded so you need to wait for a while. We tried dosa, uttapam, neer dosa, veg thali all were really good. The sweet was delicious too. Do visit and enjoy the food.
Very nice idlis, vada and dosas. Bisibede rice not of my taste. Crispies were missing on it. Enthusiastic waiter . Very tight place and full crowd on sunday afternoon.
This place serves very tasty South Indian food. They have huge variety of dosas, medu Vada, uttapam, Puri bhaji etc. We have tried their Mysore masala dosa, cheese masala dosa, dilkhush dosa( their speciality), pineapple sheera. They are well known for their Dil Khush dosa, pineapple sheera and coffee. This place is a bit crowded during breakfast hours and we generally have to share tables. Overall a very good and satisfying experience. Must definitely try.
Limited menu. But every dish is tasty. Their chutney is lovely. My fave are Medhu Vada and Rawa Masala Dosa. Fresh lime is extremely refreshing.
Slightly costly compared to other South Indian eateries around in the area.
Have been going there since 20 yrs now...taste and quality is impeccable.
I tried a couple of dishes at Cafe Mysore. There stand out dish was there Plain Idli Sambar & there filter coffee.
So much better than Cafe madras. Rasam wada was outstanding. Kotthu idli soft and tasty. Mysore sada light, crispy and buttery. New favourite place for Sunday breakfast
One of my favourite South Indian restaurant in Matunga. The prices of this place are on a slightly higher side compared to nearby outlets.
My favourite dishes here are
Vada sambar, bisibale rice and Dilkhush dosa.
The entrance is not accessible ♿❌
And no washroom inside 🚻❌
They have an AC dining area.
They also sell delicious wafers and other dry snacks items.
Café Mysore, located at Matunga Circle, offers a reasonably comfortable setting with a seating capacity of around 20 to 25 people. This eatery serves a variety of dishes, including South Indian specialties, a few Punjabi items, Puri Bhaji, and sandwiches.
Although Café Mysore may not boast an extensive South Indian menu, it delivers decent flavors at affordable prices. It's worth noting that this restaurant, founded in 1936, holds a significant place in Mumbai's culinary history.
One highlight is their Garlic Chutney, though it comes at an additional cost, the taste justifies the expense. The only caveat is the parking challenge in this area due to its location on the main road. However, nearby options like Matunga Railway Station and public buses offer convenient transportation alternatives.
Café Mysore is a suitable choice for a family breakfast or brunch, offering a relaxed dining experience without the long queues you might find at nearby establishments like Café Madras or Ram Ashraya. While Café Mysore may not offer an extensive South Indian menu, the quality and taste of their dishes stand up to the competition.
For an authentic South Indian experience, don't miss the items prepared in pure ghee, as they offer a distinct and delightful flavor. If you appreciate South Indian cuisine and are content with a somewhat limited menu, Café Mysore, one of the oldest restaurants in Mumbai, is worth a visit.
Taste is really Good. We had Mysore Masala Dosa, Ghee Roast Dosa, Rasam Idli, Sheera Poori and Tea eith obviously Filter Coffee is must...
