So Cafe Royal is my family’s go to place. We love the food , the staff and the service of course. I believe cafe royal has got Mumbai’s most tastiest sizzler and the plus point is that cafe royal has also got amazing Indian food being served. So you can take anyone you want as even if they don’t like the sizzler I’m sure they would like the Indian food
Do call for Paneer Shaslik Sizzler as a readymade on their menu
Custom sizzler must be a paneer patty sizzler with hot garlic and pepper sauce with half rice and half noodles
Always call for fries separately or else it gets very soggy in the sizzler
If you like it saucy do call for extra sizzler sauce as it’s complimentary and it’s gonna make the sizzler superb 😍😍
My rating
Food 5/5
Ambience 4/5
Staff 4/5
Smoked chicken pizza:- it had a very thin and crisp, and had a lot of flavour and good quality of chicken
Kalimiri chicken kebab:-a delight for pepper lovers but can be a little too much to handle for others but flavour and cooked to perfection
Chicken shashlik sizzler:- has a lott of quantity of rice, can be modified to your wish, fries are crisp only bad thing is the bottom half was a bit burnt
Brownie fudge shake:-taste was ok, wasn't a fan of it can do better
Good ambience with music. Perfect for a couple of drinks and some snacks with friends.
This place has been around for quite a while. I had their Chinese, The sizzler and their steak. I loved all of it. They have a large space. And there were no complaints about the food. Everything tasted good. It had a desi touch too all their food. Nth was bland. Had a good crowd. Quantities are decent. There was a waiting for a seat but they took us to HQ for a while till they had a seat to give us which i really appreciated. Is on a really good location. I look forward to goin there again and trying out more food.
Craving for some good sizzlers? Head to Cafe Royal in Colaba.
Amidst the honking of cars and chaos of Mumbai, once you step in this establishment the noise drowns out and you're greeted with some good subtle retro music from the Eagles, Bobby Dylan and so on. The ambience is good and cozy. They have a full bar available and that's just a plus.
What I ate:-
I had the personalised sizzler instead of the set sizzlers. Cube steak in mushroom pepper sauce and also added prawns and a portion of mashed potato to it.
The taste was on the mark. Steak was perfectly cooked and all the accompaniments like noodles, fries and veggies blended perfectly well with the sauce. The extra portion of prawns and mashed potato was adequate as well.
Taste - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5
VFM - 4/5 (marginally experience)
The food was delicious but a bit of a let down for me was the pricing. The steak sizzler cost about 750 but with the extra topping of prawn and mashed potato I was charged 1385. I rather would be better off ordering another sizzler so that's a tip if you decide to head there.
Overall a good place to rewind and enjoy some really good sizzlers.

Good place to visit.
I've heard that it's been visited by Mr. Bill Clinton
It's a good place to catch up with friends.....food is also good it's a value for money.....I've tried their pasta it was luscious to taste..... ambience is also good...
One of the best Sizzlers that you can find in Mumbai. They have a variety of combinations with a lot of different sauces. The taste is superb and I go all the way from Ghatkopar to Colaba just to have their Amazing Sizzlers
I loved the food here- I tend to not like fish, but they had a dish with basa here that was excellent. It is quite a homely restaurant and has attracted a multitude of celebrities over the years.
First of Al,
The GREAT AL PACINO is on the wall.
So there goes the reason to be at this place.
=AMBIENCE, perfectly good with the grand entrance, cafe themed walls, Hollywood studded touches, spacious.
=Food, not bad, but expected a bit better against the prices.
=Starters were okay, but Thai food was just Fab. Loved it.
Overall a decent place with a bit slow staff, and great Thai food.
Peaceful place to visit for sure if having any stress should definitely visit this restaurant as it feels good to be here and they also serve some delicious stuff
#sizzler #amazing #musttry
1. Grilled chicken sizzler with spicy moroccan sauce
2. Minced pepper chicken sizzler
we cleaned the tray completely
They serve One of the best sizzlers in town!!
This place is located at colaba and most of the times goes unnoticed, it's right at the circle.
They serve a variety of food but my favorite remains their signature sizzlers. They never disappoint.
The harrisa chicken sizzler, Indiana Jones, and chicken sashlik are amazing.
This place can never be disappointing. Although they have evolved their menu the taste is fantastic. The portions are good . Options are great for kids and adults. I wish they would bring back the jalapeño cheese poppers back on their menu. They have some new version of it but that only feels like a cheese patty samosa . Superb sizzler with spicy Moroccan sauce. The sizzling brownie with ice cream is divine .
A good place for casual dining with nice ambience.
The menu has a good variety of Indian, Chinese, Italian and sizzlers. They offer you an option of make your own sizzler too.
Ordered the murg peshawari kebab. Well cooked and contained a lot of cheese. Followed it with a Persian delight sizzler. Quantity was sufficient for 2 people as we had a good heavy portion of the kebabs. About the sizzler, the taste was good except the seekh contained excess salt. A delicious sauce was served with it.
Staff was very helpful and took interest in helping us decide our order.
A must visit place when in Colaba area.
I am a sizzler fan, had the grilled chicken sizzler in pepper sauce, was just the perfect dinner.
Have been visiting this place since 20 years seems like the taste has remained same.
They have an expanded menu. Think should reduce things that are not ordered and limit their menu as this is an Iconic Restaurant and Heritage to Mumbai.
Great as always! Great food, good service. Sometimes just don’t like the mosquitoes inside...the management seems to try to take care of it but rest is great.
No photos, were very hungry. But the sizzlers are top notch! Best part is they have a make your own sizzler so I could customise my own and it was fabulous! I want to go again and have the same thing, way better than the normal sizzler places in Mumbai as most of them have deteriorated.
Cozy cafe set right in the heart of Colaba, plus food is here amazing. Had sizzlers, pasta, kebabs, everything totally yum! Service was good too. Coming back for sure.
This place is right opposite the regal cinemas. Good ambience and music. Came here for dinner with a my girl gang. The sizzlers here are a must try! Specially the Indiana jones. For starter had hara bhara kabab which were good.
Cafe Royal is One of the Best Place for Sizzller Lover Yummy Food And Awesome Service I Really Love this Legendary👑 place 💥💥💥💥💥 Located at Heart of Mumbai Colaba
Cafe Royal has been making tastebuds sizzle for as long as I can remember. I’ve been eating here since I was a little kid and the food has stood the test of time (not the price though) we ordered:
1. Chicken Kalimirch Kebabs - in my experience, this dish is very easy to get wrong but these guys got it right. The dish had a lovely peppery marinate with just the right amount of smoky tandoor char.
2. Chicken Shaslik Sizzler - I’ve always thought the shaslik is a true test of all sizzler restaurants because if you don’t make a good shaslik, then you shouldn’t serve sizzlers. Fortunately, Cafe Royal serves up a sizzling plate of goodness. The chicken was tasty and the overpowering flavour of the pepper sauce was quelled with the buttered rice. They also serve crispy fries on the side that provide that extra crunch and calories to an already rich dish.
The ambiance could do with a revamp, especially the menus because it seems like nothing has changed since Bill Clinton visited!
Superb sizzlers, good milkshakes, nice ambience and very courteous staff. A good experience and would definitely like to come few more times to taste all the varieties of sizzlers they offer.
A famous South Mumbai restaurant, known for it's iconic sizzlers. Also, heard a lot about the spinach pasta. Did give it a try and it was heavenly! The service and the ambience was up to the mark. I would highly recommend this place for all you foodies.
The Cafe is not the same as in photos. It is dull and dusty and walls are broken which make you feel you have come to a very old and broken place .The AC doesn't work properly. My 4 star review goes to the yummy shake we had(The brownie and coffee shake both were really tasty)It took away the mindset about the rusty Location.I hope they renovate.
I've been visiting this place since my 11th grade birthday party & this place has never disappointed me ever since. It's become a fond memory of my childhood. When I think of sizzlers, Cafe Royal is always on my mind. The interiors of the Bollywood- Hollywood actors, the service of the servers & of course the food are amazing. The whiff of the seared sizzler smoke even outside the restaurant delight me.
Cafe Royal never lets me down! Decent ambience and delicious sizzlers!! I keep coming back to this place for its sizzlers. Highly recommended to one and all.
Cafe Royal happens to be one of South Mumbai’s oldest restaurant and has definitely sustained itself over the years in terms of the ambience and hospitality it offers. Located on the crowded streets of Colaba this amazing looking cafe is hits easy to spot. They have a very varied menu with wide range of dishes to choose from, listed below are few of my favourites at this stunning almost 100 year old restaurant.
✅ Crunchy Peppered Prawns- Exceptionally good. A must try here.
✅Fish Chilli Garlic- Tender fish tossed in chilli garlic red coloured sauce had a finger licking taste.
✅Murg Peshwari Kebab- Succulent chicken marinated and made to perfection. Tikka lovers go for this one.
✅Persian Delight Sizzler- Oh so good! This were the exact words I uttered on having the first bite from this outstanding sizzling platter. Consisting of mouthwatering kebabs placed on a base of rice, topped with sauce and veggies turned out to be a great combination.
✅Watermelon Mojito- Great drink. So refreshing and good!
✅Molten Chocolate Cake with Icecream- Just like every any other chocolate cake. I found it okayish. I honestly feel they should work a bit towards their desert menu and creat more variations.
Definitely going back here for their exquisite sizzlers and friendly service. A perfect place to dine with family, friends and colleagues.
The food here is absolutely delicious!
Have never had a single 'just average' experience.
Quality of food and consistency, somethings this place has always done right.
P.S. Their garlic sauce is to die for and the best I've had in Bombay!
Been here had a chicken basil pizza which was non spicy but too good. Ordered a smoked chicken sizzler found it too yummy for my tummy. Will visit again
This is one of my Favourite restaurants in Mumbai , their quality stands out ! The sizzlers are very good , and portions generous . Their Italian and continental dishes outstanding and Kebabs also very good ... Must compliment that the serving staff is very courteous and knows the true meaning of being in the hospitality sector .. great !
A perfect family restaurant. it has stood the test of times and is famous for its iconic sizzlers. i tried quite a few starters and soup. the shake was good.
‘Cafe Royal’ established in the year 1919, boasts about being the most sought out and a iconic place to dine. The place is located right opposite Regal Cinemas and easily catches your attention. This family restaurant has comfortable and soothing interiors and seatings. Overall good place
Cafe Royal is a all day cafe and bar located at Colaba, Mumbai.
The iconic cafe is almost hundred years old and amongst the oldest cafes in Mumbai.
Started as a Irani tea joint, today cafe royal has a multi cuisine menu.
It specialises in continental cuisine and is known for its sizzlers.
I was happy to see that the cafe still retains its heritage look and feel.
Former USA president Bill Clinton has also dined at this cosy cafe.
So here is what I had -
BEVERAGE :-
BROWNIE FUDGE SHAKE -
Milk shake made with walnut brownie and vanilla ice cream.
Nothing fancy, simply comforting for chocolate lovers, had nice pieces of crushed brownie in the shake.
SOUP :-
ROASTRD ALMOND BROCCOLI -
Broccoli puree soup with cream and garnishing of roasted almonds.
The soup was loaded with chopped almonds, one could get the subtle flavour of broccoli, seasoning of black pepper was perfect !
SALADS :-
WATERMELON AND FETA -
Arugula leaves and fresh watermelon salad with feta cheese and pine nuts, dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
The watermelon pieces were seedless, there was loads of pine nuts and feta cheese, what more can one ask for !?
APPETIZERS :-
PRAWNS HOT BLACK GARLIC -
Batter fried prawns tossed in soya sauce with loads of garlic, chillies and scallions.
An asian preparation, super spicy and garlicky, prawns were cooked to perfection.
CRUNCHY PEPPERED PRAWNS -
Batter fried prawns tossed in black pepper sauce with onions and scallions.
The prawns had a nice punch of freshly grounded black pepper but onions were overloaded !
JALAPENO CORN CHEESE TRIANGLES -
Phyllo sheet triangles stuffed with cheese and jalapenos, served with chilli tomato dip.
The triangles were super crispy and flaky, loved the chilli garlicky tomato dip.
SIZZLERS :-
MAKE YOUR OWN -
Cafe Royal gives you a choice to make your own sizzlers, one gets to choose a meat, sauce, starch mash and veggies.
I made a sizzler by choosing chicken patty, rice, pepper cheese sauce, garlic mash and chilli garlic veggies.
The sizzler was nice but the minced chicken patty was overdone, the juicy texture was absent.
The punchy pepper cheese sauce was good.
The quantity of the sizzler is huge, enough for two persons.
Overall, I had a good time.
The cafe gives you a nostalgic feeling, their cooking style is old school and they are good at it. No jazzy presentation and gimmicks, it's all about the food !

This is one of the iconic restuarants in Mumbai. Interior is simple and clean. Staff is attentive. We ordered their sizzlers and they were excellent both in vegetarian and non vegetarian category. I personally loved the corn and spinach patty.
A personal favorite, Make your own sizzler - cottage cheese Patty, rice , veggies, hot garlic sauce and an additional mushroom and spicy Moroccan sauce to go with it.
Cafe Royal is 99 yr old cafe standing tall, with a lovely old school look.
FOOD ( 4/5 )
Thai Prawn Soup : We were expecting to have it in coconut base, but it had a broth base with prawns & had a spicy taste!
Chicken Oyester Chilli : Luscious small chicken pieces with viscous dark brown colour sauce. Lipsmacking starter. RECOMMENDED.
Grilled Prawns : This was made in tandoor style, unfortunately prawns were dry & not all at juicy. Split the fun. Served with onion based salad. Needs improvement.
Mexican Beef Chilli : Mexican style spiced beef, done perfectly, it was delicious served with herbed rice & vegetables. RECOMMENDED if you love beef.
Virgin Mojito : We tried watermelon and orange based mojito. Both were made out from fresh fruits & had a refreshing touch to it. Loved it.
SERVICE ( 3/5 )
We went in a weekday afternoon around 2 pm, when hardly couple of tables were occupied. It took them more than half an hour to get our soup, I expected a quicker service. Staff need to show more enthusiasm too.
AMBIANCE ( 4/5 )
A wall with bollywood graffiti over it, old charm, simple yet elegant is how I'll describe cafe royal!
CONCLUSION
If you are around Colaba side, you have to consider cafe royal as one of your to go option since it has everything to offer right from tandoor preparation to continental which even includes sizzerlers & Mexican too & a delightful look.
Cafe royal , the place which maitained its heritage since the day of foundation .
They serve the variety of foods the mumbai peoples are in search of .hence there search ends here ..
You can reach here and enjoy the foods .
Main eye seeking attention is the way the hotel is maintained , their walls , tables etc.
So the Mumbaikars can enjoy the place with family or friends .

Hi guys, would like to place my review in MY “its different “style this will help many readers to quickly understand what they are looking for. (copy cats BEWARE LOL)
• Area – AssPados – Not to sound snobbish at all but the fact remains that the area of south Mumbai has a feel & fit which is unparalleled to any other place, at the same time some spaces which are located at the epicentres of these historic & elegant surroundings make this place itself a monument by its own standing for 100yrs now (since 1919) right at the Regal Circle of Colaba.
• Feel – KhushiDukhi – historic, monumental, cosy, it’s a walk back into the past you just can forget, a place you would mention into your directions, a place many have their childhood bounded too. So the Feel is absolutely nostalgic and happiness to be back.
• Ambience - NainSukh - The entry itself feels like entering the per-historic British made renaissance building with the name Café Royal etched high on the wall at the entry. As you enter the service desk to the right, and waiting sofas with newspaper & magazine stand to your left, and the mouth-watering dessert counter right next to it to pick/reserve your after meal before your meal. Well laid out table and chairs with the options of 2-4-6-8 seating’s & of course baby friendly with baby chairs available. The outside area allows the natural light as well while the inside is well lit orange lights, but the walls are the punch to the eye with the US president Bill Clinton along with Marylyn Monroe painted on the wall outside, while the inside wall has the last supper on it, the tables are checkered and colourful giving you a tad nostalgic feeling of an Iranian joint.
• Food – BukkadJiwa – Cumon most of us swear by the food here, we have been having this since we were in school as this is an iconic joint with food which goes beyond all ages and generations, we have been swearing by this food since childhood, like
o Chicken hot black garlic tastes spicy & Chinesy in dark brown sauce & still a perfect start to the pallet at work.
o Cannot Miss!! : Cottage cheese cilantro melts really melts in your mouth served with cottage cheese submerged in red sauce which adds the extra flavour and gravy and yet the whole thing just melts in your throat crazy.
o Fruit Mania is like a molten lava of all the fruits is just so yum you don’t want this blended OF fruity smoothie to end.
o Sichuan cottage cheese sizzler is the iconic sizzler that we can swear by with cottage cheese & with assortments of veggies, rice and French fries ( this can be like the best fries on the planet crispy n tasty I don’t know how)
o Open triple chicken burger : WOW Mind Blasting this is, I haven’t seen a better one ever, these are the burgerS which defined Burgers in Mumbai, before any of the food mnc’s came, the triple chicken pattie, with open bun with salad on one bun and the dressing on the other & fries on the side, its so juicy, filling huge, yummy you don’t mind going a big open mouthed gorilla to bite into this huge hill of food called Burger n these guys are KING OF BURGERS
• Vfm – PaisaVasooli –So much value and more that you would walk in for it any time of the day.
• Service – Khushamat –with a legacy of service passed on for last 100yrs these guys can't go wrong and Anil & Bhushan took good care of us thankyou guys.
• Parking – YatraSukh – Valet parking is available else could park outside at the regal circle pay n park.
• Payment acceptance – HaathkaMail – cash & credit card.
• Discounts – MuftKhori – Happy hours and offers keep rolling.
• Experience – MaankiShanti – Nothing less than lost years come back to me with this place and nothing can beat that for me and I guess would not for you.
• Goodbye – AaabLautChale – If the US President wanted to be here on his visit I am sure we want to be here more than once for sure.
Cafe Royal needs no introduction. its one of the legendary outlet in colaba just opposite regal cinema. Right from the entry to the inside everythng is classic vintage with regards to its interiors, decors and outlook with not so bright lights makes the place cosy and soothing for chats, wine and dine. Went with group of friends where we tried few mocktails and shakes like oreo shake, browine shake which were nice in taste but Flex was the best mocktail in terms of taste ...very refreshing and cool. Liked all the starters Achari paneer tikka was properly cooked and tasted nice, jalapeno corn cheese triangles was awesome in terms of taste and cottage cheese and cilantro melts were delicious and melting in the mouth. The place is welknown for its sizzlers so we ordered two ... cottage cheese sizzler in jalapeno cheese sauce which was sweet, nice in taste and veg. golden patty sizzler in garlic pepper sauce was good in terms of taste. for deserts we took chocolate ecstacy pastry and gooey chocolate with vanilla icecream which were nice. The service was nice too.
Café Royal needs no introduction. It's an iconic outlet that's been serving fantastic food for decades. Located right opposite Regal cinema, most people visit this place for its sizzlers and to grab a couple beers with friends. I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday evening for dinner and it was absolutely great.
As I stepped in, the interiors were quite soft. There was just enough lighting and the seating is comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgable, each one of them was perfect in recommending and serving us.
We started off with jalapeno cheese triangles which were really good. A crispy fried exterior stuffed with loads of cheese.
Next we tried the Roasted Chicken sandwich which was pretty heavy. Its a large sandwich with loads of chicken, mayonnaise, and vegetables. It was really good however the celery was a bit overpowering. It's served with a portion of crispy fries too.
We then ordered the steak sizzler, which was impeccable. The sizzlers here are huge in quantity and are also quite unique rather than the usual shashliks and satellites you get at the normal sizzler outlets. They even have a make your own sizzler option. Do try the jalapeno cheese sauce as a topping, that was really good. The sizzlers are moderately priced too so I'm definitely going back to this place.
The desserts surprisingly stole the show for me. Both the desserts I ordered were fantastic. The sizzling brownie is a must have here. It's a large brownie piece served sizzling with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate fudge.
I also had the gooey chocolate cake with icecream which was also made well.
Overall, as described, this place is great for its sizzlers and they have great offers on drinks for weekdays. Give it a shot if you're a sizzler fan!

Then for the mains we tried customized sizzler as this place is well known for sizzlers. We had ordered golden patty sauted peppers with combination of rice and noodles in garlic pepper sause. The veggies like green peas and carrots were fresh and ceunchy the peppers were good the the patty was mesmerizing and crispy. And the sause was perfect.
Deserts:-
For deserts we tried chocolate ecstacy pastry and goey chocolate pasty of which chocolate ecstacy is worth a try.
One of the best outlets of Cafe Royal across Mumbai. I love their sizzlers and prawns starters and soups . Everything is perfectly blended. Whenever I go for shopping at Colaba Causeway this is must visit place 😁
Visited this 99 year old restaurant on my impromptu trip to Mumbai and I can say I wasn't disappointed.tried the bhuna murgh with naan that was so scrumptious that it literally melted in my mouth .tried two cocktails I.e obvi and lit both were well made and strong.if you are looking for good indian food amidst culture and history definitely visit this place.
Cafe royal has been serving hungry patrons since 1919 , obviously it's one of the oldest restaurant in mumbai .
The name cafe royal totally suits the theme , even after looking at the entrance gate you'll understand why it's named royal ! It's specializing in sizzlers and variety of continental delicacies.
As I already mentioned, ambience is just a treat to our eyes , the zomato clicks won't do justice to the ambience. When you personally go there and look at the things they're totally different and really a eye appealing. The wall which is covered with stars of bollywood and hollywood steals all the attention.
The hospitality is a factor one can experience here , all the staff is too good , they gave us all the best suggestions for our meal and all of them are always a call away , they just knew how to take care of their guests.
Let's comeback to the things we tried ,
Mocktails :-
Virgin mojito:-
They have a different flavours in virgin mojito too , we decided to go with the classic virgin mojito and it turns to be the best drink for the day ! Totally refreshing and a minty twist is really takes it to another level.
Margarita :-
We ordered a strawberry margarita as they have a different flavours available here also . They also have a option of frozen or shaken , so you can choose by your comfort. As frozen looks beautiful , we decided to go with it . It's really a flavourful mocktail . Highly recommended .
Coming to the starters we had ,
Jalapeño corn cheese triangles :-
Highly recommended ! Mixture of a corn , cheese & jalapeño stuffed in a pastry and deep fried , tastes great with tomato sauce .
Cliantro pesto chicken :-
It comes with a onion rings , above that perfctly marinated chicken stuffed with olive and pepper.
Murg malai kebab :-
Another highly recommended starter . Perfectly marinated soft chicken with yogurt, obviously it tends to a little sweeter side .
In mains , As I already mentioned above this place is really well known for the sizzlers they serve , there's no chance that I'm gonna miss that .
We were craving for some good chicken and being stucked in santa fe chicken or chicken shashlik sizzlers, they suggested us to go with chicken santa fe and it turns to the best for the mains.
In desserts , we ordered a sizzling brownie with Icecream. This makes Always a perfect sweet ending, right !
Thank you .
Happy fooding .
Place is established some 100 years ago and still the same and best. The rustic inter and decor just gives the required touch.
The service is really quick and the quality of the food is well maintained. The place is widely known for their sizzlers.
STH Recommeds:
1. Cottage Cheese Cilantro
2. Chilly Cheese Toast
3. Iced Teas
4. Paneer Shashlik Sizzler
5. Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream.

Cafe Royal started its journey as an Irani tea & samosa place and today it falls under the list of Mumbai's oldest and most iconic restaurants.. Located in Colaba, this place is an all day cafe that specialises in sizzlers and a variety of continental delicacies along with regular cafe menu .. The place is beautifully setup and has a western touch in its ambience..
Coming to what we had,
Drinks 🍹 --
- Lemon Ice Tea : The perfect drink, a great balance of tea, sugar and lemon. A refreshing and delicious classic!
- Fudge Brownie Shake : Rich, consistent and loaded with delectable flavours of chocolate brownies...
Appetizers & Mains 🍢🥘 -
- Manchow Soup : Hot and spicy!! The best thing about manchow soup is that it is topped with fried noodles. I love that crunchy noodles with hot, spicy, sour soup..
- Jalapeno Corn Cheese Triangles : Filo pastry stuffed with a delicious mixture of corn, jalapenos and cheesee.. Totally loved this combination!
- Hara Bhara Kebab : Delicious Indian fried pattice made with spinach, cottage cheese and green peas that makes it a divine snack for the vegetarians..
- Coriander Chilli Paneer Sizzler : This was spot on! The signature dish is served in a combo of rice and noodles in a coriander chilli sauce with veggies, huge chunks of soft paneer and fries.. Quantity is great and it easily suffices for two people..

One of the iconic places in Mumbai, Cafe Royal is serving Mumbaikars from the past 100 years , Established in 1919 , this place has maintained its legacy all the way . Having an ambience like a vintage American cafe , beautiful paintings on the walls dim lights, this place has a catering capacity of around 50 ppl is good for family and frndz as well. I had been for a casual dinner at this place and recommend these items :
Hot black garlic chicken : pieces of chicken tossed in black garlic sauce .
Bhatti ka murg : Tandoori chicken pieces
Royal classic chicken burger : A patty with minced chicken and mushroom stuffings. Filling for 2 ppl.
Bhuna chicken with rice :
Tossed in a red gravy , spicy pieces of chicken with any kind of rice or roti.
Sizzling brownie
I love the food over here. it was aahhhhmaazzinngg.. really hungry after having a sheesha wandering around for food and this place welcomed us warmly! called for a starter as our tummies were crying out loud for food..went with nachos and beans and cheese.. the loss on the 5 star rating is coz the nachos were soggy so that was a Lil put off for us.. and then ordered for chicken Santa Fe sizzler and a pamper sizzler... and I went for a watermelon mojito.. the chicken sizzler was fantabulous!!!!!!! that peppery taste still lingers.. it was lip-smackingly delicious... the chicken was super tender.. and the mushroom rice drool worthy...the pepper sauce had just the right amount of hotness.. I did not have the paneer sizzler but I did try the sauce it was good too.. the mocktail was delightfully refreshing!! the staff is courteous and the service super quick!! what more do u wish for..
ICON'S are born, never made !

Finally, I visited this renowned south mumbai eatery, yesterday.
The decor looks much similar of American diner; with wall art, bottle of ketchup/mustard, cutlery in wooden box, and black and white tile flooring. However, some part need refurbishment and lighting needs to be improved.
The menu offers variety of Indian grills, curries, sandwiches, burgers and sizzlers. Therefore, we had ordered couple of appetisers and sizzler for mains.
We began with virgin Caprioska. Loved it!!
We asked our server for small portions of appetiser.
Fish fingers: The Basa goujons were well seasoned and tasted delicious, with tarter and chips.
Nachos: This Classic Mexican was served with refried beans, salsa and topped with cheese sauce. The sour cream was served on the side. The dish was lovely. But, my suggestion is to reduce the amount on beans mixture to avoid soggy tortilla chips.
Paneer cheesy kebab: This was mentioned as the their specialty. But, the kebab lacked the flavour and seasoning.
Classic grilled chicken sizzler: Wow!!!! My expression when our sever brought this to the table. A massiv griddle plate with rice, veggies, mash, chicken topped with their sizzling garlic pepper sauce. Voila!! It was totally divine. All the element on the platter, was just perfect. I was happy to discover that, they make all their sizzler sauces in-house. No wonder, their patrons come back often for sizzler.
The pricing is very moderate and the portions are generous.
To recapitulate, Cafe Royal is an ideal place to savour delicious burger/ sizzler with a pint. But, few alteration to exterior and interiors needs to done, which will make this place more appealing to diners.
I wanted to visit this place from a long time so I finally visited this place. The place has a themed decor of old time which is quite justified since the place is 100 years old and is servicing it since then. The food was very awesome and also the staff was very helpful in deciding what to order according to the taste I wanted. I will definitely recommend the Jalapeno Cheese Triangle it was the best starter's I had in recent times. Also the Oreo shake was very awesome. The sizzler was huge in quantity and good in taste and I specially likes the sauce used in the sizzler. I would surely recommend others to visit the place
Outstanding food , very good sizzlers and excellent service., also valet service is available for car . The sizzlers are available in variety of sauces and one can try different types of sauces.
This is THE PLACE TO BE FOR SIZZLER LOVERS, I mean there is New Yorkers and yokos but nothing beats Cafe Royal
It is money worthy, with a chill ambience!
They have the best steaks ever...This is my all time favorite restaurant...love their steak...it’s so juicy & mouth watering...my favorite is steak in pepper garlic sauce on rice bed with sautéed mushrooms and veggies & fries❤️yummmm
Absolutely one of our favourite places for a Sunday lunch! My staple order is their signature chicken shashlik sizzler, draft beer, gooey chocolate cake with ice-cream. My son’s order is normally a chicken pizza or chicken / fish fingers and fries and my husband pretty much tries a different sizzler every time we go and not once have we gone wrong with our order. Highly recommended!
Cafe Royal - Legendary. Who's who of India have been visiting this place. Distinctly Remember President Clinton on his official visit to India also had this place on his agenda. Visited over a meeting and Lunch. 3 decades and going strong. Yesterday was packed at 8 pm. Some old dishes are legendary though not the same in taste anymore. Some of the dishes we tried.
Basil Cottage Cheese and parmesan Crostini - a mixture of ripe tomatoes and diced cottage cheese over Crostini topped with parmesan. Liked the mixture but the baguette had a peculiar smell. Overall ok.
Cottage cheese and Cilantro Melts - Initially this dish was called something different. Been in the menu for almost 2 decades now. Texture has changed. A bit of extra corn starch in the gravy. Basically Cottage cheese rounds stuffed with coriander tossed. A bit Chinese. Taste was good. Had that hot and sweet feel. Good.
Paneer Cheesy kebab (Tandoor) does try this. Speciality of the house. Lovely subtle aroma and flavours. Nice stuffing of Paneer and cheese. Light.
Hara Bhara Kebab - loved it. Never tried this before. Crunchy and had a balance of vegetables and spinach. A hint of spices and herbs.
Sizzler - Now this is tricky. Either you order from the menu or customize it. Been here several times knew exactly what I had to order. Vegetable cutlet with spaghetti/rice and in veggies it was French fries carrots cabbage with pepper sauce. Sauce plays a big role when one orders a sizzler. Missed the wow factor. However reminded me of my last visit (maybe 4/5 years back) Quantity good. Right combination.
No desserts
Overall - Loved being here. Will surely come again just to have the sizzler. Surprised most of the tables went in for the other menu. This place is known for its sizzlers. Overall had a good time. Till we meet again. Cheers.
Some other place we planned to go didn't allow kids..so landed up here...and we are glad!
Super hungry ppl ordered like crazy.. service was a liiitle slower.but food made up for it.
Paneer sandwich was bland.can skip.
Sizzlers were great. Veg n non veg both great portions . Mexican beef chilli was amazing, and even beef sizzler n Chicken pizza . Would recommend visit to this old cafe. Worth it.
Having been to Cafe Royal countless times, I've never left the place without having my friends carry me away. People get drunk at bars, I get food coma at Cafe Royal.
The last time I cried myself to sleep at night was because of the Kasundi Marinated Fish.
Get it and you'll know what im talking about.
I've visited Cafe Royal's Colaba outlet. It's situated opposite Regal Cinema. Cafe Royal is established in 1919 and serves quality food since then.
Ambience of Cafe Royal looks good. Exterior of Cafe Royal reminds me the Architecture of Gotik period. Seating is well organised with wooden tables, couches and chairs.
Cafe Royal serves quality food and it tastes good. Along with food one can has vast option of drinks. Drinks are well mixed and tastes great. Their Staff and services are excellent. Servers are very attentive and helpful with choosing right dish and drink.
My overall experience at Cafe Royal was Good. Tried various Food dishes and Drinks. Food tastes good but there's a room for betterment. Their Hospitality is excellent.
I was here last Friday, after a hectic evening at Colaba causeway shopping, and I always wanted to drop by here, this restaurant being established in 1919 and the ambiance was pretty cool inside, nice paintings of Hollywood and Bollywood actors and quite fine dining kind off seating. So I was all excited to try the food here, so we ordered.
1. Cottage cheese cilantro: nice soft cheese balls dipped in cilantro flavoured, delicious and mouth melting. 5/5 for this one.
2. Shanghai pomfret: so first of all this pomfret was without the bone, so delicious, crisp, my go to dish to visit here again. I loved it. 5/5 for this one.
3. Murgh Peshawari kababs: cheese stuffed chicken, tandoored and tasted fabulous. 5/5 for this one.
4. Nachos: crispy chips, beans and sauces, good quantity and delicious. 4/5 for this one.
5. Classic chicken burger: burger was crispy, fine and perfectly sauces and tasted wonderful. 5/5 for this one too.
6. Pepper chicken steak sizzler: so this place is famous for sizzlers and they quantity is huge and so is the quality and taste. 5/5 for this one.
7. Molten chocolate with ice cream: chocolate molted and along with ice cream tasted wonderful, it was hot and mouth melting. 5/5 for this one.
8. Gooey chocolate cake with ice cream: the cake was fresh and gooey and over filled with chocolate alone with vanilla ice cream tasted delicious. 5/5 for this one.

Very few iconic places have left in Mumbai and Cafe Royal is one of them. Cafe Royal has been standing strong since 1919 and has already completed 99 years and it will complete 100 years next year.
We visited the iconic cafe and we fell in love the decor and the food.
The decor is blend of old and modern cafe’s which gives us the proper feel old and the new generation cafe.
We started with drinks non alcoholic
Fruit Mania smoothie & Fudge Brownie Milkshake
The smoothie was the perfect blend of apple, green apple, pineapple, strawberry & kiwi with the yogurt which was very refreshing.
Fudge Brownie Milkshake - Pieces of Brownie in the blender with the Chocolate milk was very well balanced and it tasted really amazing we definitely recommend you to have this.
Starter
Crunchy Peppered Prawns - Big Pieces of Prawns deep fried with the black peppered and other spices smelled so good that we finished it within no time and we where left speechless with taste.
Fish Tikka - small cubes of fish well marinated in tikka masala and chargrilled with perfection the taste was very good with the perfect flavour of the spices and the fish was so soft.
Prawns Koliwada - we loved the prawns dish so much so we ordered another with staff recommendation which was Koliwada prawns again the size of the prawns where huge and the marinated of the Koliwada masala with the deep fried prawns was perfect.
Chicken Malai Tikka - Chicken pieces marinated with malai and Tikka Masala was on a bit of sweet side but it was malai so it had to be on a sweet side but was perfectly chargrilled.
Main Course
Bhuna Chicken & Garlic Cheese Olive Naan and Butter Naan
Boneless chicken pieces are smeared in tomato based gravy and cooked in fresh fragrance of ginger, garlic and bhuna masala and we fell in love with that dish.
Cheese Garlic Olive naan and Butter Naan was soft and the cheese garlic and olive flavour was amazing too
Dessert
Sizzling Brownie - Hot piece of Brownie with cold vanilla ice cream and too sizzling was great. The Brownie was soft and very moist and don’t forget to ask for the chocolate sauce to pour it on the top it will make it more amazing.
Overall we can say that old is gold and the Cafe Royal done a proper justice to their food in terms of taste, quality and quantity.
Well visit the cafe and we are sure you will have a smile on your face
Do ask food recommendation from their staff they are very well informed about their signature dish about how the make it with all the ingredients.
Great place to have dinner. Service is pretty good. Great ambiance. Delicious food. Good place for a family dinner
You must try their chicken and mutton sizzler.
Worth spending money.
Valet parking too is available so you can take you own car.
There are very few iconic restaurant in Mumbai are left and Café Royal is one of them
Café Royal is one of iconic place located near Colaba circle, Opposite to Regal Cinema, serving delicious food to people since 1919. Café Royal started as a tea and snacks joint which most of Irani cafes in the city used to served and later it evolved into a fine-dining restaurant serving huge range of dishes such as Continental, Mexican, Italian, North Indian and they also have option for Vegetarian, Non-vegetarian and Jain
Ambiance of this place is quite different and quaint which will transport you to 20th century of old-world elegance with wooden seating, hanging lights and painted walls with Biblical figures and Indian and American movie stars, like Amitabh Bachchan, Angelina Jolie, Shah Rukh Khan and Tom Cruise.
We started our dinner with Mocktail called Fruit Punch which is combination of all fruit juice which was Flavorful and Chilled.
For the starters, we had
Nachos: One of the Mexican Favorite dish loved by most of people, which has Tortilla Chips Layered With Re-Fried kidney beans topped with hot Cheese Sauce on top. This ingredients went so well with the crispy nachos. A wondrous sour cream and an equally good tangy tomato salsa on the side tasted amazing.
Jalapeno Corn Cheese Triangles one of best dish to go with if you want to have cheesiest dish. It is a combination of Sweet Corn, Jalapeno and cheese stuffed in a Filo Pastry and deep fried topped with coriander and served along with a tangy tomato sauce.
Veg Mexican Tacos one of famous Mexican dish where a small crispy corn taco shell, loaded with wholesome baked Beans, tomatoes and roasted peppers which is topped oh-so-yumm grated cheese and baked.
In Main course we had
Paneer Makhani which is north Indian dish where small cubes of cottage cheese is cooked in a rich tomato based gravy. The subtle blend of spices like cardamom, coriander leaves and the cream added the richness and flavor to the Makhani served along with tandoori roti. All the ingredients used in this dish were fresh and full of flavors.
In Sizzlers we had
Golden Veg patty sizzlers which is combination Of Rice, Sweet Chilli Cauliflower, Chilli Garlic Veggies and Fries tossed in garlic and pepper Sauce topped with large vegetable patty.
In dessert we had
Brownie with Ice-Cream, Sizzling Brownie is a delicious melt in mouth dessert where brownie is served on a hot sizzler plate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with hot chocolate sauce. The aroma of molten chocolate, and the fizzling sound of frozen ice-cream on a sizzling dessert was so strong that we couldn't keep ourself away from it. Must try
Overall experience was good. Also service of staff was amazing. Highly Recommended Place.

There are a few iconic places in Mumbai. And few places in Mumbai can stake a better claim to being iconic like Cafe Royal can. 99 years old and counting. A cafe from pre independent India, which has continued to stay relevant to it's patrons even today.
Cafe Royal, which was probablyamongst the first restaurant in Mumbai to introduce Sizzlers , has since expanded it's menu to include Chinese, Indian and Continental cuisine besides Sizzlers.
Our Recommendations
Make you own Sizzlers
Multani Mushrooms
Hara Bhara Kebab
Vegetable Napoli
We started with the Broccoli and Almond Soup and the Tomato and Basil soup. Both quite nice, though we loved the Tomato and Basil better.
For the starters, we had the Mutani Mushrooms, Hara Bhara Kebabs and Nachos. The Mushrooms with the cheese fillings were absolutely delicious. The Hara Bhara Kebabs were yum and the Nachos were quite good too. The Nachos came with sour cream and salsa on the side though we did miss having Guacamole in it.
For the mains we had their make your own sizzlers. We choose the Cottage cheese Patty ( it was huge) with cilantro rice, mushroom mass on the side, with Broccoli, butter mushrooms and other greens, complete with a spicy garlic and mushroom sauce combine. Turned our amazing.
Next up was their Vegetable Napoli, which had to be the dish of the day. Vegetable in a delicious pink sauce with rice on the side. A must have.
Ended the meal with the Gody Chocolate cake and Molten Chocolate cake. Both quite nice.
Their options in Mocktails were limited though , and their Oreo Shake and Mango smoothie filled that void.
Overall , our love for this place only grows with every visit.

So on my birthday week ,this was one of the restaurants i had thought to hit.Whats better is to know that you ate your dinner at a place where former US President Mr bill clinton had a meal when he visited India, the place located in colaba opp regal thetre has been there for many years now. The ambience was nice and simple having the best of Hollywood, and Bollywood of various eras and quirky Mumbai symbols on its walls. There are two sections the front one is more youngster friendly having sofas and quirky wall art done ,while the other section is more family dine, has Bollywood sitaras and a flower vase on one side of the wall. Famous among locals from all age groups, we found parsis as old as 70-80 ,corporate office goers , young siblings , family of four etc who dined and had their regular meals ordered ,which was evident as most of them didn't need the menu, they ordered without refering it, and that in turn made us ordered a few things from the regular choice . Nachos and Sizzlers were the most common order at that time. There was even a single pac who had ordered for a sizzler to be consumed all by himself (which shows its popularity, they have a huge list of sizzlers to choose from.) FatFoodieRhish and I were welcomed by Stephen and served really well by fnb server bhooshan , who not only had the knowledge of food items but was very prompt in his service and delivery.
The following are the food items we had ordered for :-
Roasted almond broccoli soup
cream of feta spinach soup
Herbs cheese chilli toast
nachos 😍
Gilafi Kabab
Fish hazarvi tikka 🤩
Crunchy pepper prawns - 🤩
cottage cheese cilantro
crispy chicken Santa Fe (sizzler)
lavazza coffee
Lichi with ice cream
bless up
moss
flex
Kala Khatta Margarita
What we really enjoyed the most was the soups, we had seldom ordered soups lately in any outlet, but these were pure traditional soup without much fusion done, you could taste and tell!
The chilly cheese toast and nachos were nice . Specially nachos,it had the right amount of kidney beans ,cheese and salsa!
Gilafi kebab and fish hazarvi tikka ,came together and looked really pretty in the platter . We had asked the staff to portion the food throughout so we could taste more varieties, while the quantity for all seemed apt! Gilafi having the 2 layers of lamb and chicken looked really nice.! Fish hazarvi surprised me by its ugh-so-tenderness ! And it looked like chicken malai murg from top while it was 🎏!!
CCP and CCC were amazing!! They were the star dishes for me ,one being a sea food and other vegan. Once of the best prawn dish I have had so far. Never expected myself to like paneer in the cilantro sauce. But it was too good!!
I wish we had more time and the stomach to digest that much food otherwise we would love to try out their variety of sizzlers ! Maybe next time!
Litchee with ice-cream was amazing loved the quality of vanilla ice cream used and the server had well informed in advance that the litchee would be canned..but we tried it and it was worth the try! However I wish they put the fresh ones the next time on season and off season canned can be used!( Since it's taste wasn't that bad)
Overall cocktails were okay for me . However flex and moss were good. Scope of improvement in terms of glassware used and the presentation.and quantity can be done !
Overall a must visit place specially if you have come with family or cousin's ,to shop at cosway and dine here at ease.! Incase you like less noisy or no music sort of place, where you can sit eat and talk with friends ,then this a good reunion place for you.
Much love
Shosha
A place that’s going to celebrate its century the next year, since 1919 maintaining the record of serving the best way some exceptional delicacies is phenomenal. Inspire of the rush hour, they served us real quick and with Delicious food. For their excellent service and staff, 5/5 would do justice to them.
The ambience is pleasant, not too glossy neither the local hotel type. It’s good, comfortable, tidy and good for couple time or family time with kids. For ambience, I’ll rate them 4/5.
For the food, I had:
Fish garlic chilli- Amazing cubes of soft fish in Chinese sauce, mild spicy but tasty.
Chicken peshawari(most recommended)- A must try. It’s stuffed chicken with cheese fillings. Presentation is excellent and the taste more of it.
Smoked chicken pizza-(recommended) Thin crusted, cheesy chicken pizza amazing and delicious.
Chicken scazlik sizzler-(recommended) Yummy chicken, sauced well with rice, veggies and crispy fries.
Chocolate goeey cake with ice cream( most recommended) soft, heated chocolate cake along with vanilla ice cream was really delicious.
We also had peach ice tea and apple and kiwi smoothie, both were good. Hence, for their delicious food and presentation, I would give them a 5/5.
Do check the pics attached too 😋
If we talk about good food then Cafe Royal is the best place this restaurant is quite happening and the Ambience is really like it's Name.
Now if you see I have ordered
Fish Tikka, chicken peshwari kebab, chicken smoked pizza, chicken shahzalik sizzler, Apple kiwi smoothy, peach ice tea and Goeey chocolate cake ice cream.
Really I enjoyed my Dinner with Saba Ladha
Located bang opposite Regal cinema in colaba, this place is quite easy to spot. As the name suggests, the restaurant gives out the royal vibes and elite dinning experience. With a peaceful and soothing ambiance it serves some of the most delectable food around colaba. Here's what I had here.
Cream of Spinach and Feta : 5/5 If you are a fan of spinach then you must definitely try this soup. Its creamy coz the spinach is well blended with flavors and the feta gives a sour hit to it.
Thai Prawn Soup : 5/5 Extremely spicy. Spiciness to another level. But no doubt extremely delicious.
Grilled Prawns : 5/5 The prawns were another winner for us. Dragon prawns, well marinated in chefs special spices and grilled to perfection.
Tandoori Pomfret : 5/5 Pomfret marinated in spices and then cooked to perfection. Extremely delicious and well presented.
Fish Tikka : 5/5 This one was another favorite for us. Cubes of fish charcoal grilled with special spicy marination.
Dahi k Kebab : 5/5 I usually don't prefer ordering veg but this chef specialty caught my eye and I called for it. And I was so happy with ordering this one. The most smooth, pure and tasty dahi kebabs were heaven for me. I loved every bite of it.
Watermelon Feta Salad : 4/5 The salad was quite average for us. The addition of pine nuts does not go really well with the overall salad. I would prefer to have walnuts in them making them crunchy.
Chicken Cordon Bleu 4/5 So looking at the description of this dish, I called for it. The presentation was quite average. The chicken breasts stuffed with cheese, chicken ham and gherkins was mouth watering. The basil mashed potatoes were smooth and fluffy, while the smoked mushroom sauce was a bit on the sour side.
Chocolate Ecstacy 4/5 Its a dark chocolate pastry basically which was topped with loads of chocolate chips and chocolate sauce which made it too sweet overall.
General-Review: An iconic landmark establishment in the heart of SoBo's landscape (Colaba), that serves great sizzling food (pun intended) that would most assuredly bring you gustatory nirvana at moderate prices (isn't cheap, but still quite reasonable given it's Colaba). Sizzlers are indeed that good. Not just good. But EPIC. It looks gorgeous. It smells awesome. It tastes like Heaven ... Other dishes are also pretty darn great; overall a great culinary experience. Don't want to build it up more & cause expectations to skyrocket & have the actual experience pale in comparison. Don't take my word for it. Go check it out.
[Been to this place a few times. Attached photos are from my visit at Lunch-Time on 12-Nov-2017 - with a friend. We ordered 2 sizzlers: 1 Veg, 1 Non-Veg. And suffice it to say, both were absolutely heavenly & worth it! Needless to say, it was a heavy & thoroughly satiating meal ... On a much earlier visit (sometime in 2015/16), steak was also served, and that was absolutely awesome too. I remember seeking-out the chef & the management, and congratulating them in-person for a job well done. As is the case, Cafe Royal was jam-packed during Dinner-time with people & families - and sizzling sizzlers were all the eyes could see for as long as the horizon stretched out.]
TL;DR/Bottom-Line/Summary: Food = 4/5; Sizzlers = 5/5; Ambience = 3/5; Service = 4/5; "Classic/Iconic" Factor = 4/5; Overall = 4/5 ... A fantastic place to catch some great food (especially their legendary sizzlers), in the heart of SoBo, surrounded by Historic Victorian-Gothic architecture.

Just like its name "Cafe Royal" this place is truly Royal located opposite Regal Cinemas, this place is very popular and one of the legendary place of Colaba.
The ambience is super cool, with beautiful yet decent decor.
Let's talk about food :-
French Fries good in portion, crispy and perfectly fried.
Margherita Pizza - Sometimes all you need is simple yet tasty bites of mozzarella cheese pizza well this was yummy but drizzle of
olive oil on the top was missing.
Watermelon and Orange Mojito - Refreshing, Chilled and Flavorful
Prawns Tawa Masala Sizzlers - Well, gravy was great in portion as compared to rice along with stir fried veggies..Good to go if you like prawns too much.
Molten Cake with Ice-cream - Full marks to this heavenly dessert. Truly rich and mouth melting..a crazy chocolate lover will surely gulp down at least 2-3.
Service was excellent, super quick and all the servers were attentive and helpful
Great experience dining here with my sweet family.
There is no doubt in the fact that in the ongoing scenario Mumbai is witnessing bountiful of restaurants serving food of different cuisines. But true food explorers also appreciate the good old standbys - restaurants that have been serving delicacies for decades. Cafe Royal is one such restaurant located in the heart of Mumbai.
Cafe Royal was built in 1919 & yes it is on the edge to complete 100 years.
A huge gate at the entrance, old giant & beautiful murals on the side walls, rustic tables & bright natural light are all attractive qualities of Cafe Royal that are well preserved for today's modern comfort too.
A quick plan for lunch with friends & we choose Cafe Royal to satisfy our hungry soul. Below-mentioned are the food items that we loved savouring here-

Dahi Ke Kebab
Chicken Seekh Kebabs
Chilli Milli Jhinga
Spinach Cheese Ravioli
Mains-
Prawns Oyster Chilli Sizzler
Desserts-
Gooey Chocolate with Ice Cream
