Due to the ongoing global Covid 19 pandamic , my family & I couldn't visit our hometown Punjab this year , which has genrally been our annual vacation for almost 3 dacades .
We simply love to explore the local cuisine there which is unbeatable in terms of taste , aroma & flavours .
Recently one of my friend from Bandra suggested we try authentic Punjabi food from Papa pancho da Dhaba.
As it was my brother's birthday & we were having a mini celebration at home , we decided to give it a shot by ordering the following items .
Paneer Veg Biryani - We all echoed " This is the BEST biryani we have ever eaten " . The portion size is Huge loaded with uber soft panner & super fresh vegetables along with top quality rice seasoned with freshly ground spices . Every morsel was just divine .I HIGHLY recommed you do try .Its a sheer winner & star attraction of the entire meal .
Paneer Makhani
The paneer was soft as cotton which simply melted in the mouth . The gravy was rich , creamy & perfectly balanced .Trust me everyone simply licked the plates clean .I can even take the liberty to say this was better than food of Punjab itself .
Tandoori roti
The roti was well prepared .Slightly crisp & soft to eat .Loved it .
Naan
The naan was very soft & blended well with the gravies .
Onion kulcha
Standing ovation for the onion kulcha as its simply UNBEATABLE ! Any one who loves Indian breads must try this hands down .
Chole bhature
The Amritsari Pindi chole & bhature were again highly appreciated by everyone . Being the most favourite dish of our entire family , we thoroughly enjoyed this feast to our hearts content .
We really dint miss our food from Punjab this time & Papa Pancho da Dhaba made up for it in a spectacular way .
This place is known for its desi variety. Especially north side food. It's really worth ordering from this place. I ordered
Baigan ka bharta
Paneer makhni
Papdi chaat
Dahi bhalle
Mixed pakode
Paneer pakode
Papad
Gulab Jamun
Everything was cooked perfectly with amazing spice and the paneer pakode was lovely. I've loved paneer pakode and paneer makhni a lot. It was amazing. You must try it's food. Highly recommended...!!!!!!
Great food. Expensive for Indian but usually very tasty and flavourful food. Love even the Dal tadka.... Such a simple dish and being a non vegetarian not a usual order for me in other places, but here I almost always order it. Not the best place for kebabs though...
Quality food , good ambiance
This joint is located in the bylanes of bandra and is quite popular which is why we chose it for a birthday lunch.
It is a nicely done place which represents punjab and the dhaba culture, right from the interiors to the crockery and the cutlery.
We ordered veg and non veg both.
A chicken starter and a mutton gravy along with naans and bhindi and paneer gravy for veg.
The food was very very well flavoured but we were very disappointed with the proportion, however the taste covered that up.
It is a little on the expensive side but that is what they charge in regards to the locality.
Good experience, great service !
Whenever I am in Bandra and crave for typical Punjabi food ,Papa Pancho is my all time favorite. Itโs not a big or a fancy restaurant but a small cozy cute dhabha style restaurant. It gives you a dhaba feel . I had ordered their masala chaach , chicken tikka, dal makhani, laccha naan, chickenbriyani, dal khichdi and Jal jeera. Food is really good and is reasonably priced. The only issue is that the restaurant is very small and tables are arranged very closed to each other, So you can hear everything happening on the next table
Recommended place to savour Punjabi cuisine in Bandra.
Dishes were really fulfilling. We ordered Chhole Kulcha and stuffed cheese naan. Taste was superb and I'd highly recommend the cheese naan.
The place isn't big on space tho but the decor will catch your eye. I love how they've creatively made use of the walls & customized it. Service was a bit slow or maybe we were just too damn hungry ๐ค๐
๐
Chicken could have been a bit more soft n fresh, paneer tikka was super but portion may have been better ! Amazingly fresh n piping hot food..I very much deserved during these lockdown days..kudos to Team Papa Pancho...keep it up and if you can increase the starters portion size will be great
If you are in Bandra and craving for some great North Indian food, this is your place to be. Order anything from the menu and hands down it shall be great .
Just love the place and it's packed on weekends.
I have visited the restaurant earlier as well but this time iam little disappointed with the service which i got i ordered food and just to receive my startes it toom 25 mins after ordering main course was served really quick after they bought my starters so just service was a little bit slow
Ambience really good enjoyed the food a lot we ordered
Chicken ban jara kebab- 4/5
Chicken tawa masala-4/5
Mutton biryani-3/5
Phulka roti-2.5/5
Tandoori roti-3.5/5
Lassi-2/5
Lassi which we ordered was not up to the mark because iam a big punjabi food lover and speciality of punjab is lassi but i dint liked the lassi
The gravy and starter was really amazing chicken tasted really good the i really liked the tawa masala with different flavours added to the gravy amazing
Biryani was also good just the pieces of mutton which were added in the biryani i think it was a little less as half of it was only bones the boneless mutton pieces was only 2 pieces so i think they should add some good mutton pieces in biryani overall taste wise was really good
One can visit the place and have a good time with family and friends
Nice place. Must visit ๐๐ป๐๐ป

Rustic feel and vibe. This place has always been there in Bandra, and has stood the test of time with it's fabulous and simple no nonsense dishes. I would love to recommend dishes to you, but anything you order here will be good. Thank you for hosting
Located opposite Gold's Gym in the Gasper Enclave on St John's Road, Near Rupee Bank in Pali Hill, Bandra West; Papa Pancho Da Dhabha is famous for its North Indian food. its a small outlet with great interiors and serves authentic Punjabi food. Dal Makhani and Patiala Lassi should never be missed here. Great value for money too.
When in Bandra, this is must go place !!
It has an authentic Punjabi flavor and does justice to the name.
Very unique concept where you can eat same food item as a stater or as a main course either with roti or rice.Dal makhni and salad is complimentry.
Must try, and if lucky, Paneer Peshawari.
Mutton chap.ย
Lasi.
Also, they have daily recommendation which can be tried without doubt !!
This is the only place that serves authentic punjabi dhaba kinda food. They have a seating capacity of close to 50 people in both their ac and non ac sections. Well done up place , good interiors .
We ordered chicken thali and fish thali, both served with paratha and black dal along with some yogurt. We also ordered their famous aloo chaat which was out of this world.
Damages to the pocket - Rs 1240 inclusive of 5% gst. (Approx US $ 17.35)
Overall experience - great food , good service , amazing experience . I would rate this place 4 on 5.
An early dinner on a Saturday evening , we tried the paneer pakora and the butter chicken with rotis , it was served with raita and black dal. Food is great , ambience is so -so and the service is really slow . Hardly any crowd at 7:30 pm. service needs improvement, took forever to get us the menu or even take the order .
Cozy, tiny but superb. Valet parking is available. Yes but small place but amazing interior. Good combination of Bollywood and Punjabi culture. We went their for lunch and we ordered chaas. Sweet line soda, chole bature, make di roti and sarso ka saag. Veg kadai and garlic naan
Everything was amazing. Service was super
Everything was next level
Wow what a perfect place for Punjabi dishes! They serve different styles of Punjabi dishes... Loved the ambience.. little small but great place... Service was nice.... Food was lips-smacking... Staff was polite! They have combo offers and daily specials too! Shall visit again!
Go here for the food. The price will shock you for once but then the taste of food will take over it.
My all time favourite. The combination of perfect ambience, great choice of food, super service and kind hospitality, this place never disappoints me.
Papa Pancho Da Dhaba is located near Pali Naka, Bandra West. The place is famous for North Indian Punjabi Cuisine.โบ๏ธ
The place is not much big in size & have both AC & Non-AC section. The interior is bright & nicely decorated. Each section & things kept there give you the feel of Punjab.๐
The menu had both Veg & Non-Veg Options. The prices were a bit higher but considering the Bandra West Area the prices are justified. The serving quantity was good so the place scores very well on the Value of Money.๐
We ordered Butter Amritsari Kulcha & Lahori Paneer Meal. The dishes were served in nice traditional copper thali & Dahi/Curd was served in earthen pots.โฑ๏ธ
Butter Amritsari Kulcha was hot & served with Dahi & it tasted amazing.๐
Here Lahori Paneer Meal is served in combination where you have to choose between Parathas or Rice. We chose rice option. Lahori Paneer Meal had Lahori Paneer Sabji, White Rice, Dal Makhani & Dahi. The Sabji was loaded with paneer. Rice & Dal Makhani was also nice in taste.๐
Overall the meal was very rich & fulfilling for 2 persons. Next time, we would love to try non-veg dishes here.๐
Please note that the place charges an optional 10% service charge.๐
We ordered -
Lahori Paneer Meal - 540 Rs.
Butter Amritsari Kulcha - 160 Rs.
Taste - 4/5 Stars
Ambience - 3.5/5 Stars
Value for Money - 4/5 Stars
Service - 4.5/5 Stars
Overall Ratings - 4/5 Stars โ๏ธ

On a friendโs suggestion we decided to eat at Papa Pancho... best decision ever! We lovvvveeeeed the good. Good portions and courteous staff. The sarson ka saag was amazing as was the chole bhature. Loved the home style food and the yummy white butter.
The decor and ambience are good too. Definitely visiting again!
The dhaba serves a range of North Indian delicacies with a resembling backdrop. I had dal makhni with lachcha paratha and cheese garlic naan. The cheese garlic naan was filled and a must have. The masala chaas was too bitter and isnโt recommended.
With a beautiful ambience and amazing food, this is a must visit place. We ordered Sev Puri for starters. A tad bit overpriced for the dish but delicious nonetheless. The Banjara Kabab Meal and The Sarson Da Saag with Makai Roti are a must have. These two dishes are really recommended. Also, the Gajar ka Halwa and Gulab Jamun are best for dessert after a hearty meal.
Good quality punjabi food
The best taste have had in Mumbai.. if u want to Judy enjoy the food..just go to this place.. you are going to love it
Love the food! The panner quality could have been slightly better. The taste and quantity were up to mark. The cheese stuffed naan is a heavenly dish. All the dishes were of great quality and it was worth the buck!
Had friends visiting from Germany and Australia. They wanted something which reminded them about our culture and home. Hence this was the perfect feel. The whole meal and the completeness it had was yum and delicious
Good food, good staff. The only thing negative is that the place is overly decorated. Can could have gone a bit easy on the decor. Otherwise the food is amazing and the staff is very cooperative as we troubled them a little and yet they were there.
Service and Ambience: This place has nice Punjabi dhaba vibe ; cosy and small place but has loads of taste and love for food. Service is quick and courteous.
Food: This place to die for Punjabi food. Just love everything that this place has to offer from paneer starters to sarso saag to chaas. Have been to this place couple of times and it never disappoints. Paneer just melts in your mouth and chaas is must all the time.
VFM: Totally!!
Aaaaaaamazing in every aspects love! Love! Love!
chicken tawa masala served along with raita, dal and parantha.
Taste wise 10/10 .
Awesome authentic punjabi cuisine experience !!!
Excellent Food and Excellent Service by SUNIL, the Captain
Such a lovely experience to dine at one of our favourite restaurants in Bandra.
The Punjabi Dhaba theme and ambience is just toooo gooood.
You get transported to the great state of Punjab.
The food taste especially the Dal Makhani, Bhuna Chicken and Tawa Parathas are easily the best that you can taste in Mumbai. Kudos to the chef and his team.
The Service by the very kind and charming and helpful Captain Mr. Sunil is just too good and caring. He will make sure that your every little need and request is taken care of.
He is extremely guest oriented and a great Asset to this lively charming restaurant in Bandra.
The waiter Babu is also very good and efficient and courteous.
We go with 10 Stars ๐ out of 5 Stars ๐ mainly because of Sunil, Babu and the great service provided by them.
Just Go To this place and ask for Sunil.
You will love the experience.
It's great place for Punjabi dishes served in a casual dhaba style..
We had veg handi & lahori paneer which was served with parathas, curd & Dal makhani
With that amritsari stuffed kulcha, rice and chaas was good to end our lunch..
Food was in descent quantity & taste..
Great place with outdoor seating...
So much in love with this place... I am surely gonna visit more times here... The food is just amazing... Nothing can beat this Punjabi food... And keep your mobile memory full.. As you cant stop by clicking pictures of this place... The ambience makes us feel like Punjab... Dont check the review.. Just go and have some fun...
If you want to have real punjabi food, visit this place. I had saraso da saag and makai di roti here and now I am a fan of this place. They serve chaas in a huge glass and it is yumm too. Must visit place.
I visited papa pencho the first time when i shifted to Mumbai. A friend of mine suggested this place to me because I used to miss home cooked food.
And this place really surprised me with its typical punjabi home cooked food. It's like the food we get in the desi dhabas of punjab.
I loved this place not just for its food but for the ambience it offers. Its a small cozy place decorated with Kites, paintings showing punjabi culture and colours.
I would recommend to eat
Saag with desi gjee
Kadi chawal and Rajma chawal
Price wise its a bit expensive as the food they serve is simple healthy home cooked food. But it's worth a try if you are north indian n missing ghar ka punjabi khana.

Very authentic Punjabi food in Mumbai ..the decor reminds you of roads and houses in the state of Punjab and adds to a nice rustic touch ..the Punjabi music adds to the feel ..the food is lipsmacking .
Makhmali paneer - soft , very well cooked pieces of paneer stuffed with cheese . This starter is a must try m
Dal makhni - awesome
Murg makhanwala - very flavorful chicken served in a nicely done buttery sauce .
The naans and kulchas are very freshly made
The lassi is huge !
True punjabi feeling right in middle of pali hill. Best thing about this place is lassi. I am a big lassi fan. This place has one of the best lassi I have ever had..
The only reason I am not giving a 5 eating is because of the smell from the toilet that greeted us when we entered the restaurant. The place is small but we'll lot and spacious enough. The food is yummy. They have concept of serving dahi/salad/paratha or rice/dal with each starter which kind of completes the meal. We had the Banjara kabab, Punjabi chicken Tikka, chicken kulcha and chicken biryani. There is nothing that didn't taste yum! Definitely worth a more than just one visit. This place is now added in my family's go to restaurants.
The BEST RAJMA CHAWAL I've ever had . At PAPA PANCHO DA DHABA, Pali Hill, Mumbai :) The best place for some really good Punjabi food:) The buttermilk , the jaljeera and lassi were an absolute treat. The Jamoon were served hot and were delicious. The Dhaba ambience was excellent.
The place is kinda small, the ambiance is good. Good is very delicious and the service was also very good. The portion size is also very good.
One of the best restaurant in mumbai for typical Punjabi food. Ambience was absolutely stunning as you can feel like you are at someone Punjabi"s house. Food was so delicious. Service was not that fast but good enough. Staff was helpful. Quantity of food is just perfect. But price is bit higher side. Overall it was a good experience.
The day you need amazing north Indian food and are in no mood to experiment, just head to this place! Absolutely delicious food.
Had dal makhni, masala Bhindi, fried masala papad, Papdi chaat with cheese garlic naan.
I went there on a occasion of rakshabandhan with my cousin. Restaurant was spacious and i could feel an essence of dhabha.
We ordered two thali of paneer lahori and mix hyderabadi with dal makhni and curd in its accompaniment. Laccha paratha was extremely delicous.
By the end of meal i was completely satisfied and would recommend this place to everyone.
Superb Food and Great Punjabi Ambience & Setup. Space is Small but Worth to Visit. They have a great Punjabi Menu both Veg and Non-Veg. Try It.
Nice place to eat Punjabi food however a bit congested may be its mumbai and like chole Bhature and parathas but a bit costly so you have to spend more for a good Punjabi taste.
Best place for people who live north Indian dhaba style food quantity is amazing there are quite various variety of meals good ambience and amazing staff
The taste is varies from interior to exterior.... Food feels like typical North Indian dhaba... Veg and non veg dishes.. both are equally good. Quite satisfactory. Expenses moderate but service can compensate the price over taste.
It's an amazing place... I have crossed from there but never thought of trying until yesterday.. u shud try chole bature and garlic cheese nan and don't forget fresh lime soda... The staff is very polite and place looks so colourful and u feel the north India vibe !!
I really loved the food and ambeince
Must try out the dal makhni and panner tikha
Lachaa paratha
Starters is not worth the price
Service is really good
I really liked the traditional way of serving food
The menu on zomato is not updated
You will notice the price difference
It has increased
Amazing Seating! Typical Dhaba Feels!
Highly recommended for punjabi food lovers!
Great service and lip smacking kebabs.
Best Chicken Biryani. Please order for chicken biryani you will not regret it.
Omg haven't had such amazing North Indian food in a while, very small place in bandra but superb interiors๐๐
What I ordered
Chicken malai tikka- Gosh it was so tasty๐ along with that we were served black daal, naan, curd and salad
I think that's the best black daal I have ever eaten๐๐
The prices are on the higher side but with the quantity and the taste it's all worth it๐
Chicken Buna Masala- This one is totally recommended , if you're not a very big fan of butter chicken, it was delicious and spicy ๐
Can't wait to visit this place again to try more dishes
PPDD is a great place to have a heavy meal. We had paneer tikka and aloo cheese bombs for starters. Not exceptional but both tasted good. We also had the lassi which came in these huge glasses, just like how the Punjabis have it. The experience was good.
Coming to main course, we had butter chicken and paneer rara masala. Quantity is great and very filling. Also had a mushroom cheese kulcha which was heavenly. Only thing that the place is expensive. Rest all good, ambience is nice and artistic. 4/5!
Good place for the taste of panjab ...Not only food ,the ambience also gives the feeling of punjabi home .the only thing is place is little small so not comfortable for the group of more than 5,6 people. otherwise food is very tasty n spicy wid perfect punjabi flavour
Food is really very tasty here. The combo food option with the most reasonable price coupled with the ambience makes it my fav place for North Indian food.
An absolute treat! The lassi and Chicken Tandoor is to die for. I absolutely recommend that you get a lassi no matter what, it is too good to pass up. The staff is jolly and friendly. The atmosphere and serving style is authentic and pays homage to the Punjabi aesthetic. I cannot stress enough just how good the interior is decorated, no amount of elaborate poetry can do it justice.
One of my go to stops in the city if I want a good home style yet decadently rich meal with kebabs and curry. I personally have always been a huge fan! Dropping my favorites here - The Bhuna Gosht, Chicken Makhani, Tandoori Prawns & Reshmi Kebab. ๐ this spot if you need a good, wholesome and authentic Indian meal in the city. Never disappoints. Happiest for the heart, soul & stomach! :)
Superb place, loved the ambience, food on pointโฆ
Tried bhuna gosht with dal and sarso roti, jowari rotiโฆ
Dal is super yummy
I have been waiting for papa pancho to start. I was so sad to hear what happened and to tell you the truth I donโt believe it. They have fed me for 22 years and I am just glad it started again and the first thing I had was chole bhature and aloo and butter chicken and omg delicious delicious delicious.
I went to papa pancho coz I was craving for some authentic punjabi food !! And what shud I say , the food touched my soul in every possible way, the tandoori chicken , the Chole bature and Palak khichidi was just some of the few things I ordered and I must say it was yummmm!! Must must visit if ur looking as some mouth watering Delilah food !
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, thoroughly enjoying all it had to offer. The atmosphere and design are charming and welcoming, while the staff were friendly and attentive. The cuisine was truly delightful, although the cleanness fell slightly short of my expectations, though they were still acceptable. I would definitely come back to sample more of their dishes in the future.
really the best chole bhature Iโve had outside home. Reminded me of my Punjabi grandmaโs recipe. Also getting papdi chat along side was yum!!
Very good food and service. Ambience is truly of a Punjab dhaba, feels like you are heavy a pure home made style food .no excess oil or over buttery inspite being a Punjabi cuisine.
Very attentive staff and cooperative .
The sitting is slight congested but it is overall comfortable.
We tried chole tikki, Pani Puri and it was yum.
We had mushroom masala and paneer makhani which was delicious .
The desert rabdi with malai kulfi combined was too good . Flavourful and precise sweet
Our first visit in search of North Indian rather proper Punjabi cuisines and I must say it met our expectations.
Food we ordered:
1. Chhole Bhature - most Punjabi chhole you can find in Mumbai ๐
2. Rajma chawal - Reminded of pure northern taste โฃ๏ธ
3. Masala chaas - very refreshing ๐งฟ
4. Nimbu pani - all is well that ends well .. must have in the end.... It was simple yet fulfilling ๐ฅฐ
Good ambience.... Lil uptight with seating space but good food experience overall.
This is a compact place but has very unique and memorable ambience. Food quality and taste is very good. At first we thought the dishes very costly but the quantity of dishes justifies the price. We tried dahi papadi chaat, Paneer Tikka, Butter roti and palak khichdi. In non veg we tried Bhuna Gosht with fulka. Everything was fantastic. The curd they serve is speciality. You can ask for sugar and enjoy sweet curd as a dessert.
