By far the best punjabi food that I have had in Mumbai...Tawa chicken is a must have...try the gulab jamun with rabri if u have a thing for desserts...
The menu includes wide range of appetizers from soups to kebabs. They also serve a wide variety of main dishes and desserts. Food is delicious and you will feel revisiting the restaurant again and again. Last but not the least, they offer a first choice level service.
awesome ambience and tasty food. worth the visit..
Clean & hygienic. Good food. Attentive staff.centrally located in Fort area.
Super- Near VT-fort- Sheri Epunjabi - Superfood & taste...
Mutton Egg mix paratha-dish Super taste - I like it.
excellent service . food quality is very good...taste is awsum
Great food! Even better kebabs! Been there back in 2002 and recently, food consistency and quality is top class!
Very good taste try veg and malai koftai love this place
One of the best places for authentic punjabi food. The food in one word is ....... DROOL!!!!!
I loved the taste of briyani
Sher-E-Punjab is one of the oldest North Indian food eateries in Mumbai.
Recently, I was here during my visit to the city.
#Ambience
The ambience is classy and attractive. We have 3sections on the ground floor and 1 upstairs.
The place is beautifully illuminated and the aura favours families to come over. Though, we could find friends, colleagues, business associates etc as well. The seating was very comfortable with cushioned chairs.
#Service
The staff is very well groomed and highly experienced and courteous. They attended us nicely and alk our requests were taken care of.
#Food
We ordered the following-
Hari bhari tikki- It was undoubtedly the best hara bhara kebab I must have had in my life. The vegetables were minced so nicely that the blending was absolutely perfect. The use of spices and other ingredients was extremely balanced and we could feel all the flavours. Our taste buds were taken for a merry ride like never before by the exotic taste of those tikkis. #MustTry
Aloo Paneer tikki- This was a bit of a dampener in terms of its Taste and preparation. The potato and paneer didn't gel properly and the consistency in ingredients was not there. It was an okay dish for me.
The Bombay Junkets visited Sher-E-Punjab for dinner and had their Paneer Palak with Tandoori Roti & Naan along with Jaljeera.
The food is tasty but could be a little more spicier. The quantity of food is quite great, though.
The ambience is nice and it's not too crowded. Definitely a good place for family dinners. The service is also great.

Was here with my office colleagues for Boss's birthday treat. The ambience is good with Punjabi theme like curtains and portraits and good lighting. They greet us with with appetizers drink to start up. For starters we ordered Angara kebab which was cooked perfectly and was tender enough. Main course we had chi. Hyderabadi which was good too accompanied with Tava Paratha which was bliss. Finished off with Piping hot Gulab jamun. Overall a great experience.
Some old fashioned places is where the taste still lies. The food is rich. Service is courteous. The decor could be better. Dont miss the sarson ka saag and gajar ka halwa in season.
The atmosphere is very silent and appealing. Place for visiting more than once and best for family seating.
Just entered the place. Staffs really courteous. And Very Accomadative. The place looks comfortable. Ambience is well not intimidating. The decor has a 90's charm. The food, well was exceptionally good. The crispy okra (bhindi) and Moving Dal Khichdi (Lentil+Rice) was sumtious and Portions were above Decent.
My verdict is if you are in this part of the town. This place is a no-brainer.

One of the best restaurants to have non-veg from (especially chicken).
We had Tawa chicken and handi paneer.
The Tawa chicken is one of their specialities and it lives up to the hype and i have to say its mouth watering.
The handi paneer is also great.
The service could me improved a bit as it is slow.
Very nice place to visit and to enjoy taste of Punjab.the quality and quantity of food is good. Also staff behaviour was very nice and polite.
Turns out the place was a regular jaunt of the Pop in law back in his bachelor days. He still remembers the chhole and the bharta he used to have here. So no doubt, we were going to be going here if we were close by.
We made it at about 9:45 pm, fairly late by my dinner standards but clearly not too much by the restaurant. There was ample parking nearby which I'm told is a hassle if one goes in a rush hour, but the entrance guard told us that he would help if one were to stop in front of the restaurant and signal to him even otherwise.
There's a bunch of seating options, straight forward tables of 4 or 6 as you enter, some seating on what seems to be a mezzanine floor above and there's a floor with about 6-7 steps a little lower, with tables that can be moved around to accommodate larger groups.
We ordered a couple of things, none of which really disappointed:
Palak Shorba - DELISH. Even to someone who is not a fan of Palak as much, but was compelled to share with the only other vegetarian at the table.
Chicken Hot & Sour soup: hear this was quite nice too, but probably not as excellent as our Shorba. Maybe the curse of ordering chinese at a place which slays Indian?
Masala Papad: LOVE LOVE LOVE - Four rice papads with an onion tomato topping.
Malai Murgh Kabab: A chicken starter which comes in a kadai with a layer of atta covering the top. I think its cooked with the steam and trapped heat over coal which gives it a very distinct flavor. The sauce it is cooked in, is creamy cheesy almost with a lot of garlic. If it didn't have an Indian name, this could totally pass for an international chicken dish, because it does not have that typical Indian masaledar taste.
Lifafa Paneer: This insanely tasty roasted paneer, wrapped up in a roti, served with pudina chutney. Delicious.
Dal Makhni: The star - Rich, creamy and clearly cooked for several hours, to have that masala evenly cooked with the pulses. And that fresh cream, adds that extra zing to this dal fit for a king!
Vegetable Kolhapuri - Spicy, as promised. Went well with the Dal makhni and parathas.
Rotis: Rumali roti was perfectly sized and as it should be. The parathas were out of this world! Special mention for the Cheese Garlic Naan - it is as good as a freshly baked Garlic bread with Cheese - ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!
Gulab Jamun with Rabdi: We took what was recommended by them and this did not go wrong at all! Artery clogging rich but absolutely perfect to share around the table and not feel guilty. Lovely and super soft gulab jamuns. Highly recommend!
All in all, its a perfect place for a family outing or for some very very tasty Indian cuisine. The Indian probably outshines the Chinese, so I guess you can try to experiment with the Indian section, before turning into the Chinese. Ask for recommendation based on what you like and the staff is pretty helpful! A meal for four cost us about Rs.2,000. Not too heavy on the pocket either considering the quality of food.
Located at CSMT it is one of the fine restaurants to have food . A good ambience and a beautiful place for food and enjoy the epicentre of mumbai
The food was yummieeee... I tried egg biryani, quantity n quality both r good. Will definitely tri again. Thank you zomato to find such a lovely place for food. I'm foodie person so I always try a different places. This 1 is nice to me.
It was amazing taste over there and they have the great outlet and I started with starter I ordered potatoes chao chao and it was so delicious and well decorated and per plate it was 6 pieces and then I went to the main course and I ordered Chicken tandoori and was so delicious and big. The manger and waiter aslo treated well. Then I went to mocktails and I ordered Blue leagune and it was also well decorated and aslo taste good and atlast I went to derest and I ordered mango ice cream, it was too sweet like Mango and it also feels like that you are eating mango. Thank you Please visit it, trust me it is a amazing place
Good place for family dinning, beautiful dinning area, must try dum chicken biryani , panner crispy , butter chiken , and they specially provide Jal Jeera as complimentry drink to begin
Last week we had visited this outlet for dinner and found awesome food, polite and friendly staff, quick service, pleasant ambience. Overall it was a fantastic experience to be at this place ✌🏻.
So i had visited this place a lot of time as its food is very tasty and i love to visit this place regularly for having good and tasty food and ambiance is also good and the dishes i have ordered almost loved everything till now and ambiance is very good and peaceful and servicing is always best

Superb...Our group was recommended chicken rozaali kebab, chicken malai tikka & mutton rahra...the kebabs were well marinated-barbecued & bursting with flavours. Mutton rahra was flavorful with tender pieces of lamb eaten best with chilly cheese naan.
Shere-e-punjab lives up to its name, perfect Punjabi meal...
As always this specialty restaurant lives up to its legendary status with amazingly delicious food. The Juicy kebabs and culinary curries are a delight. Don't miss out on an incredible experience.
Awesome food, most delicious juicy kababs that are v well marinated. Vegetarian variety is excellent too! love the ambience. Everything is yummy! I feel like visiting tonight even thinking about the food.
History of Sher-e Punjab restaurant at V.T. is so good to hear about too. Great for families to visit.
I saw a relaxed, warm, friendly atmosphere. And best Punjabi food we have ever had. My wife had the Banjara Kabab as recommended by the waiter and it was very juicy and tasty. The freshly made vegetable Maskhanwala and Cheese Tikki was simply delicious.
I highly recommend this restaurant. I will go again!
We visited here on our special guest birthday couple of week ago. Everything was superb which we ordered thanks to the team !! Vl visit soon
It's quite big but the service little slow also it's little costly as compare to others. They serve welcome drink i.e Jaljeera drink. We ordered Chicken angarey Kebab and Chicken seekh Kebab both were tasty just loved it. In main course we ordered their special dish that is Dhaba chicken it's quantity was too good also tasty and Butter Naan.
Overall it was good.
Again visited on Women's day.
Had ordered Chicken crispy , chicken angarey. Chicken crispy quantity was too less also taste wise it was ok types.
In main had ordered Chicken rara and chicken Tikka . Chicken Tikka was the worst. Chicken rara was good.
Sher-E-Punjab is a located in the Fort area. They are having a small entry, but the restaurant is large enough for comfortable dinning. The ambiance was classic with old song playing at low level. The staff was courteous.
We had ordered manchow vegetable soup, Hariyali paneer Tikka, Vegeatble Kofta, Paneer Tikka masala, Roomali roti and butter naan. The Hariyali paneer Tikka was good in taste. Overall the quality of the food was good. The quantity was less as compared to the price of the food.

I decided to take dinner at Sher e Punjab tonight but while walking for a dinner i decided for a takeaway from here only since i wanted to watch a movie aswell.
Place at entrance looks grand a butler standing at the gate in uniform wishing you and opening door for you. Well when he opened the door there was a mild music sound playing old classics. With low lights (not too bright but birght enough ) not many people out here for dinner at that time. I was greated by the captain and was directed to the ordering counter. I already knew about what i wanted to eat but still asked for a menu. it does not looks like how it looks in these pictures here its better there. I advised to put less salt and stuff. Learning from my past mistakes i have decided to tell how i need my order rather than just ordering blindly. Egg biryani and half plate chicken tikka. The Egg biryani was given in a 500 gm container which is sufficient for two people if they are having salads or one side dish before dinner. they gave chutney which was very delicious and sufficient amount of mixed pickle with onions and lemons trust me they did not hesitated to give onions, salads, pickle and chutney. Overall good, today i am planning to go there to dine because yesterday i was on my own. definitely worth trying not very much expensive. I didn't take pictures of the food because i was a bit lazy, i was not going to review it but anyways i did it.
good decent food Sher e Punjab
Good food, nice ambience, but services were not very prompt also the maintenance was not upto the mark. Had to wait a lot even after placing the order early. Okayish but had a good time with family 👪 🙌❤️
Lovely food. Liked mushroom hara pyaaz and butter chicken. Roti were fluffy and yummy. Good experience overall. So far the closest to authentic north Indian fare that I have come across in Mumbai.
Have been visiting this place quite frequently. Good food, good service, good people, child friendly, what else can u ask for. Just enjoy this place everytime we visit.
Relaxed environment... Instrumental indian music playing in the background slightly louder than my taste. The staff are courteous and warm greeting. The Airconditioning is cold and sadly thats common in most restaurants. Food is good. The chicken is tender and flavourful. Rotis are good too. The jaljeera at the start of your meal is a nice touch. Fried food is more oily than normal. Just dropped 0.5 rating there. But keep putting more efforts ull get there
Awesome food, environment. Good service...
Just awesome....... Love this place....
Tasty food enjoy with my family. And most importantly my family also love this place, food and service.
Decent place with good ambience. Good place to visit with family. Ample seating arrangements made. We had veg biryani, chicken rara and chicken rara. Chicken rara was delicious. Gulab jamun were great. Disappointing part was the service. The waiter was pretty rude when it came to service. It looked like he didn't want to serve and was doing it only because he was forced.
The only thing missing in this almost perfect place is lack of a alcohol permit. There is just something about Punjabi food and booze(Patiala peg) that goes together.
I have tried their chicken tikka, butter garlic prawns, chicken tikka briyani, butter chicken, Lassi and Kheer. All of which pass the bhukaad-foodie-Punjaban standard(whichever applied to you or all?).
But the best thing to eat here is the Mutton seekh kebab masala, which is mutton seekh in gravy...yes your read that correctly, someone actually listens to prayers and works miracle and they work here. Go for Roomali roti instead of naan/paratha so you can wipe the dish clean(or maybe only i do that hehe)
Location: can't go wrong in SBS marg
Service: fantastic
VFM: hell yes
A perfect 5 for extremely delicious food. We chose butter chicken with butter naan and daal makhani which was awesome. Though, butter chicken wasn’t their usual one (what you get in north India) but it was good.
I went here few days back and also i dont remember how many times before. The best thing that i like about this resturant is the complementary starters they serve and the welcome drink. One of the best and oldest restaurant in this area.
Really nice place for dinner!
First time here and realllyy loveed it💚
I have ordered: Chicken crispy,tandoori chicken,veg cheese kebab,chicken musallam,rabri and gulab jamun.
Outstanding food and staff also was soo nicceee❤️❤️
Loved it
Must visit place.
Nice chicken & mutton dishes...had an awsome meal. The service and quality both excellent.Old and a gem. Authentic punjabi flavours. Nice ambience with cheerful staff.
I visited Sher-E-Punjab yesterday 19.07.17 for lunch after few decades !!! It was a privilege for me to dine at Sher-E-Punjab during those days ( early 80's ) as my pocket didn't allow me to do as I was working as a trainee in my office which is few minutes walking distance.
I walked down the memory lane yesterday when I visited the place. However there is lot of changes taken place since then as impressive ambience made all the changes now.
I ordered for my favourite Chicken Masala, roti and steam rice which was served promptly by attentive waiter and I relived the time of olden days as they could manage to maintain the same quality of dishes !
It was started raining when I was about to leave the place.I sat in a sofa nearby the counter for the rain to subside. A gentleman came and sat next to me and we exchanged pleasantries. We have started general conversation and for my pleasant surprise, he happened to be the owner of the iconic restaurant ! Owner Taranjit Singh Bedi was kind enough to spare some time with me to share many things about the restaurant which was established in 1938 by his father and said restaurant is the oldest Punjabi restaurant in the heart of Mumbai ! It was very kind of Mr Bedi to offer me coffee before I could leave the place but I had to deny it with thanks as I had just finished my lunch in the same place. He made my visit a memorable one and will visit again when6 time permits.
Went to this place last night for a gool ol' family dinner. The ambience was great, the staff was even better, but surprisingly, the food wasn't as was expected! Ordered soups and Reshmi kabab for starters, which frankly, was quite good! This led our expectations about the maincourse to go over the roof! Ordered lasooni
Chicken, diwani handi and the basket of rotis for main course, while waiting patiently for the same, expecting the food to sweep us right off our feet! But God, were we left were disappointed! The chicken gravy tasted like any other, and I am pretty sure, the same thing would have been served, had we picked and ordered any other name off the menu! There was hardly anything "diwana karne vali" about the diwani handi either, which in plain words was very bland. We finally tried our luck with the desserts, and on special recommendation of our ever so enthusiastic waiter sir, ordered malai kulfi and rabdi! These were pretty okay, nothing over the roof! The bill(which had the plethora of GSTs added over the menu prices) came out to be pretty exorbitant, given the not so great experience! But then, since it was a family night out after ages, the food was actually just an accompaniment, and I am really not complaining!
The King Of Hearts
Sher-E-Punjab, a little gem carefully tucked in a lane close to Ballard Estate, is an age old restaurant that feels like a home away from home. It's hard to miss this restaurant as the doorkeeper is dressed in a manner that will remind you of the royal gatekeepers who served kings. On busy work days that seem exceptionally difficult, it's places like Sher-E-Punjab that make you feel better with homely food and warm smiles.
The ambience is relaxing with timeless Hindi classics playing in the background, subtle lighting and genial servers who greet you with warmth and courtesy. If this wasn't enough, the staff offers a complimentary welcome drink of Jaljeera (Spiced Lemonade) to all the guests. The exemplar service by the staff is what makes this joint a cut above the rest.
As for my meal, I tried Palak Paneer and Pudina Paratha. The portion of Palak Paneer is just enough for two and is a heavy dish with big chunks of tender Paneer cooked in a thick spinach gravy. There wasn't a particular flavour that stood out and the dish was rather bland yet invoked a memory of home cooked food. Pudina Paratha was freshly prepared with butter dripping from all sides and Pudina powder generously smeared on top. It was soft, fluffy (yet crisp on the sides) and red-hot!
The combination of the two did not work well and maybe a better match would've tasted better. I'm yet to try their signature Dal Makhni.
Sher-E-Punjab is the perfect place to catch up with friends or family over a relaxed dinner. While the cost was on the higher side (my meal was around 400), I would highly recommend this restaurant for its calm ambience and amiable staff who ensure that every guest feels comfortable and at ease.
I have been to this place for a friend's birthday party.
The place looks royal and vintage giving it all a different ambience from inside.
We ordered tandoori chicken as starter and it was really cooked well and gave us the craving of having more but then we ordered chicken gravy like chicken tawa and tandoori roti. .
Overall everything is good about this place except the cost due to the location.
Recommended !!
All grill foods are awesome, huge restaurant suitable for group. But they take more time to get the food so u need to be patient enough to wait for ur food
Been here on a sunday night and surprisingly it was not full! The place is very old (estd 1938) and the interiors are well done! They serve a complimentary JalJeera before the meal!
Ordered the Paneer Kalo Mirch Masala which was good , along with some decent tandoori rotis! My friend ordered Half Chicken Tandoori and looking at the speed with which he finished it , it seemed great too! The service was very good and warm! Would want to try different dishes the next time!
This old restaurant in heart of Mumbai..
I think they are from year 1938.
Ambience is good soothing music good service...
We went for lunch in afternoon it just opposite to GPS and close to CST.
Boneless Butter chicken-- Very nice liked it everything was perfect not too much spicy.
Vegas Kofta -- found very fresh and perfect.
Also they gave us Jal Jeera complimentary welcome drink..
Dahi Cahumber was also good..
Rather than going for routine Bundhi Raita...
Overall good experience...
Nice food. Well prepared and fresh. Staff was very helpful. Spring Roles, Lasuni Sabzi with Naan is very good in taste. Butter Naan was very soft and served hot. Jalzira drinks given complementary. Overall good experience.
The food is nice both in taste Ani quantity wise ambience quiet realxing prawns koilwada is not that upto mark as compared to other dishes that are served one butter nan is more than enough for single person chicken special is one of gravy that should be tried desert are simply awesome service gets 5/5 management is good an fast as we
In Fort Mumbai this restraunt is one the best. The quality of food served here is at is best. I always choose this restraunt in Fort Mumbai. Staff is also very cooperative.
I had a good dinner with my family at this place. The classic sarson da saag/ makkai roti was delicious and probably better than the non veg fare like prawns curry , fish fingers ( too dry ) and chicken banjaara kabab. Didn't live up to my expectations but a decent experience for my 1st meal here. Maybe they need a good old sardarji in their kitchen to pack some punch in the dishes!
Ambience- check.
Good quality food- check.
Does not burn a hole in your pocket- check.
Service- check.
Very comfy place with really good food. In love with their curries and rotis. Almost authentic mughlai food.
Some really good quality food here (indian to be quite specific).
I'm not an Indian food fan at all and I always look for a way around it. But I had to go here as it was a family thing.
I didn't order a thing. I let the others order whatever and decided to try it all.
The food was fantastic. Quality and quantity.
We ordered some reshmi kebabs, chicken tikkas, something called sarsoon ka saag, some jeera rice, some dish which was mutton on the inside wrapped with chicken on the outside (something great and different - a must try), butter rotis, naans, mutton mughlai, and a bit more.
We ended with some mental mental rabdi. This was some different tasting rabdi. So pure. So fresh. It was crazy. This place is well worth going, spending a bit more but getting class in return!
Good place to break for lunch . We placed a very minimal order of beer follwed by chicken biryani. My friends ordered fried rice. Everything was good and ample.
We were way past the lunch time but still wanted to fulfill our appetite before heading out for shopping, and that's where we hit this place after considering various options. As it was being lunch time, the tables were vacant and we free to choose a table of our choice. The staff proactively handed over the menu cards but forgot to serve us water until the time we ordered.
We tried the sweet corn soup, too bland for my taste, but my friends seemed to enjoy it, eventually it was their choice. Then for main course, we chose veg biryani and lasooni sabzi. Initially we were skeptical about the combo of sabzi without the usual roti/naan, but it was laid to rest with the first spoon of biryani alongwith the garlic based gravy. The veg biryani seemed to be a perfect equivalent to the non veg biryani, probably the same method of preparation is employed for both. The sabzi was spicy but complimented the biryani and it was delectable.
Reasonably priced for the food on offer, ambience is cozy and comfortable, service is courteous and it is value for money.
Have been going there regularly in the past couple of years. Staff always welcome you. Service is good. Food is pretty decent especially cheese garlic nan, keema nan and chicken item is very tasty. Will keep on going there as it is one of the closest place to office.
Nice place. Great service. I have always loved their Mutton Biryani and seekh kababs. Though a bit expensive place, the food quality is good.
Very nice place.. courteous staff and delicious food.. the garlic cheej kulcha here is yummy do order it when here...has a old touch , warm welcome by staff..

Sher-e-punjab is one of the most iconic restaurant from the fort area of mumbai.
This restuarant is hardly 5 mins walking from cst station.
This restaurant is one of the oldest restaurant started during the time when mumbai port waa exclusively used for transport and other stuff.
Started as a small punjabi dhaba , the management has expanded it into 2 spacious restaurant, one with bar attached.
The ambience is beautiful and is always decently crowded.
The pricing is slightly on the higher side , and we do visit once a year atleast.
The restaurant gives you wide range of options specially in tandoor and punjabi.
Thw monchow soup is one totally which can be avoided.
Jaljira is the appetizer which you start with.
Paneer items are one of the best.
Do try thw paneer lifafa.

I visited this place for dinner a while ago and it was a lovely experience. The architecture and ambiance inside is beautiful, the old hindi music along with the ambiance makes you feel nostalgic.
The service here was spot on, right from offering vallet paarking to taking our orders, everyone was very polite and spoke with broad smile, what a delight! As soon as we were shown our table, they served us Jaljeera, which was complimentary. We began with masala papad to go with the spicy jaljeera. We decided to go with the staff recommended Sher-e-Punjab Chicken special and Kadai Chicken along with Garlic Naan. The chicken dishes were delicious but their tastes were quite similar, that was the only con. The Garlic Naan had a lovely aroma of roasted garlic and we could sense it even before it arrived to the table. A pleasant meal overall. Worth Visiting.
Have been here plenty of times over the years..
Went here on a weekday recently for dinner..
Lovely courteous staff, assist you with ordering..
We were clearly over ordering but it was brought to our notice by the server..
The chicken starters and mutton seekh were delicious..
The mutton bhuna was also with generous amount of mutton..
They also serve you free jal jeera..
Very reasonably priced.. Hence will maybe come back as always whenever I'm looking for a delicious Indian meal
Excellent roti & mutton . Chicken tandoori was not as expected. The missi roti & makai I could eat it plain. The chicken tandoori lacked the tenderness & was not juicy.
There are places you goto eat and then there are places where you goto relish the experience along with the food. Shere-E-Punjab in Fort is one such place. Around since the black and white days, it's always been known for scrumptious easy on the pocket north Indian cuisine. I went there just because my mom wanted to relive old times and of course. ...butter chicken!
The moment you reach the place, you already think bell bottoms and long side locks. I think the management has made sure it retains the old world charm, so much so that the music was also from the 80's. Overall very nice ambience and equally good hospitality.
Started off with fresh lime sodas, and to get started we ordered some veg seekh. I know seekh and veg sound unpardonable but my moms a veg. Mash of paneer and veg masala, it wasn't too bad.
Next up was my main course. Butter chicken looked great, quantity was great too. Digging in, it's unlike most north Indian recipes. Even the colour was more on the reddish side and not orange. Since it wasn't sweetish, I really liked the strong flavours. Butter naan was tandoored well too.
Methi paratha ordered by mom turned out to be less than average and could do with more stuffing and better taste.
We finally finish it off with malai kulfi with rabdi..again pretty average. Rabdi had lil chunks formed and wasn't too consistent.
With almost 1600 bux as the bill, we weren't too unhappy. Want to go back in time and eat some good food while at it? This is where u go!!

Even if I say this is the best place in Bombay (since 1938) to have Punjabi food, it would still be an understatement! I always used to forget reviewing, lol mostly due to getting lost in thoughts regarding the feel of total satisfaction. If one still needs reasons to experience this Legendary Gem of a place, here are the obvious few in a descending order of Importance;
- Taste & Quality
- Generous serving portions (Quantity)
- Service
- Ambience
So basically it hits all the right spots in terms of overall satisfaction.
What should one consider ordering (Non-veg): Chicken gravy dishes (pick any, not kidding, really!), Starters - Tangdi Kabab (rest are up to the mark but nothing can beat the dish mentioned), same goes for Mutton and almost same for seafood.
If one is a 'Bombay' person and hasn't eaten here atleast once, it's safe to assume there's no interest in Punjabi food (which I personally think of as a crime! :D)
P.S.:- Interestingly, the Masala Chaas here can be surely termed as a study in the science of making the most fantastic chaas ever ;)
Ambience is what attracts me more to this restaurant, been there a couple of times food is delicious especially kebabs and tandoori chicken.
Chicken dishes are good as well.
Roti is good.
Biryani is above average.
Staff is good and responsive.
Near cst its a good place to try.
As far as I remember I went there with a large friends group. We had tough time finding the place from CST side. There are two Sher-E-Punhab on both side of the road and I still don't know the difference between them. May be someone can enlighten me, if one is veg and one non-veg or something.
Anyway moving forward the one we chose was well lit and decorated. As it was right after Christmas the place was having Christmas trees and Santa's all around. quite a nice music on the air. We were welcomed by the service person and treated with complimentary appetizer drinks on our table. This was a nice gesture from their part.
I think we tasted many kinds of Indian dishes that day. Starters were good, Roti was well made all kinds of it (we tried tandoori and Rumali both). Main course was also tasty.
Deserts were I think the main highlight. We devoured on the Rabri as this was the main attraction for us bengali sweet teeths.
Moreover nice ambiance and definitely a place to go back to. Service was also good and food was value for money. But not like pocket friendly for college goers. I end up taking less photos and eat more. Still sharing some photos I have from the day.
Amazing food!!! Every item in the menu is full of rich ingredients. They are blended so perfectly, it surely gives a royal taste. The ambience, is no doubt, living upto its name.
Nice place with good food. You must try their Kulfi if you come here. The ambience is homely. For a sumptuous punjabi meal, Sher-E-Punjab is the place.
Had dinner party wirh friends and even with my bro. The ambience is no doubt is best but the food whether veg or non veg both were good n delicious. Recommended!!
Service was quite good as waiters were attentive even on a lazy sunday. At the very beginning we were served with chilled jal jeera. Starter was very beautiful and chiken was very soft and delicious; bit oily though. Sher-E-Punjab Special Chiken was ordered in main course and had big 6 pieces of Chicken and gravy was thick and spicy, very suitable for chicken. The ambience and location of place is very good. Certainly, it doesn't let down the name, as it says PUNJAB.
Recent visit
Yesterday.. Visited while on shore leave at mumbai port..
Ordered :jaljeera butter chicken, angara kebab and garlic naan..
Jaljeera was awful so much masala in it that atleast 100 gm was left in glass after drinking liquid part.
Butter chicken was great as always.. I believe portion size is reduced
Garlic naan was fulfilling and soft.. Perfectly made.
Anagare kebab was true to their name and spicy as suggested. Chicken was perfectly cooked succulent and properly marinated. 8 pieces was sufficient for 2 persons.
Other accompaniment such as papad peanuts dosa bhaji aloo cucumber etc provided.
Bill for 2 person 1000 rs..
Service :lots of surly waiters busy watching ipl on tv screen.. Though not bad by any means..
Restaurant needs a bit of makeover as i observed ceiling broken and taped at places..
Good marks for the food.. As sher e punjab never disappoints..
=======================================
I have been going here for long time
Although I doesn't live in Mumbai whenever I come to Mumbai for my work nearby mmd I always make time to go.
Its located on a sbs road and very near to CST. There are seprate restaurant with bar and without one for families.
The ambience is great.. Seating is comfortable and staff is helpful in suggestions.
My favourite order is butter chicken. Portions are huge and half butter chicken is enough for 2 persons. Garlic naan are Full filing and soft.. Kebabs are great. Bar menu good.. Not extensive though..
The butter chicken is so good I haven't made any other order in main course here... A must have dish here.
Its not too pricy given in which area it is.. Still its better choice than the restaurants choice available nearby..
Been here couple of times. This place has a very premium look!
Started with the manchow soup and masala papad.
Their kebabs tasted good, malai kebab and angarey. Well marinated and tender chicken. Tandoori was brilliant.
The Punjabi cliché dish, butter chicken, will leave you startled.
A good family restaurant.
M very regular to this place when I travel to Mumbai.
This is in d main road n huge restaurant with good ambience. I usually order butter chicken, ginger chicken n Chinese starters here . Authentic Punjabi cuisine in Mumbai n service is quick . Pricing is OK
Too much yummy food...Soo Far only tasted Nonveg food (Chicken Dishes)...especially there kababs are mesmerising ones....Good Ambience....Soft Musics & Good Hospitality..😀😊☺
Sher-E-Punjab is a famous restaurant for Punjabi food but the standard has gone below average, as compared to the time when my father n his friends used to visit this place. "Back then this place used to be crowned with navy officers n their family" he added.
Renovation is much much needed for this restaurant as it gives a very old and a negative feeling.
I remember having CCP on ice here... concept is unique and d presentation was good. CCP is a dish where cheese cherry and pineapple slice is pierced in toothpick.
Overall this place is a must try... as its been there since ages.
For me this place was "I being a SoBo-ite, how haven't I been here till date especially when it has great reviews on Zomato?". Disappointed. Service is good and fast, ambience is typically 90's, people are too sweet. Now, food. Jaljeera is authentic and really cool. Paneer acchari (recommended in most reviews) is hyped stuff, nothing so wow. Rumali roti is huge and soft. Makai di roti is fat but great. Dum aaloo is mind blowing, loved it loved it. Paneer makhanwala is okaish. Kadai biryaani is a huge huge huge disappointment. It's way too dry and doesn't have any spiked taste. It just broke my heart. Bottom line, I really don't think am revisiting this place.
If u want a good tasty yummylicious punjabi food, this is the place.. Ambience is good, staffs r good, accessibility is convenient, quantity is good. In short Value for money. I been to this restaurant 11-12 times. Great to be there.
A must come place for the best Punjabi food. Ambience is superb, Quality of food is excellent. Service is also good. Value for Money in short.
It is really a good place to have authentic Punjabi food. We had Tandoori Chicken . Even the half quantity ordered was really big. The chicken was deliciously done with right amount of grilling done. Butter Chicken was really super tasty. The quantity here also was good. Three people can eat easily. Sweet Lassi was also good. The glass was quite big and the lassi was quite thick.
The total bill was INR 974 inclusive of taxes. Not bad at all . Good VFM hotel if you want to go for Punjabi food.
Good service by the staff and pleasant atmosphere and nice interior you will love to spend time here with you colleagues.
Food test is the best.
Must try
The food was really well prepared. The restaurant has a good vibe and ambience. The crockery and cutlery were also well cleaned. The prices are a bit on the upper side though considering it is almost inching towards the “Fine dine” category. Speaking from the “fine dining” experience, it isn’t quite there yet, but we all really loved the food.
Very tasty and economical dining at the Sher E Punjab restaurant makes it the best Restaurant in this area.
Service and politeness of the staff is also very good.
Such a peaceful atmosphere. The food is worth the price. We tried chicken manchow soup, Chicken Bara with rumali roti and gulab jamun for dessert. It was so yummy and mouth watering. Will visit here soon.
Top noch taste and quality I would say. We had ordered chicken Hyderabadi and rumali roti. chicken Hyderabadi costed 415rs and the rumali roti was 75rs . Food was fairly priced for the quality and quantity provided, we also ordered butter roti that was for 45rs. The chicken was cooked to perfection with proper amount of seasoning and spice, chicken had no foul smell or taste, . Rumali roti complimented the dish beautifully as it was thick gravy. Lastly the ambience was good perfect for a family dinner or a cozy dinner with friends.
Excellent food, attentive staff, great service. Iconic Daal Tadka, Baingan bharta and all paneer preparations. M vegetarian hence can't comment on non veg food. U will love to dine here. Authentic punjabi food. Bread options are too good too. Best roasted papad in the town. Topped with smiley faces. Wow.
Great ambience and excellent service. Tandoori chicken, kalimiri kebab and stuffed kulchas are very tasty.
No doubt has the best authentic Punjabi food, the ambience is so welcoming and relaxing, the service is 10/10.
A must visit for all those who want to try authentic and tasty Punjabi food.
Best restaurant located closest to CSMT railway station. You can reach here in 5 minutes walk from the station. Their welcome drink is great. Food Quality is good too and not too expensive. It's the oldest punjabi restaurant in Mumbai
I loved the food, especially the chicken Sher e Punjab special! It had this aromatic mix of whole minced garlic and boiled tomato in a magnificently spicy thick gravy. The jeera rice was cooked to perfection but I must mention that the Chicken Tandoori portions were too measly and not sufficient for a family of four.
We went on New Year's Eve and despite being in a posh location, the rate was feasible. They still hadn't taken down their Christmas decorations, but I supposed they hoped it would double as New year's too.
There wasn't much rush, yet the service was slow at best. We waited long between meals and that really hurts a punch to your appetite.
This restaurant is an establishment you can visit perhaps twice a year at most.
This is one of the oldest restaurants of Mumbai located near CSMT railway station.
An excellent place for food lovers, they still maintain the taste and quality. Had been here many times pleasant and satisfaction memories. Best Service . Food were very tasty and mouthwatering.
Food & ambience are excellent. Rates are a bit high but stand true to its overall experience. Chicken garlic was highly recommended. I went there at 5pm on Saturday & surprisingly it was open. Park at your own risk as Shahid Bhagat Singh Road is a heavy traffic road.
Established in 1938, Sher-e-Punjab claims to be the oldest Punjabi restaurant in Mumbai, serving authentic food and doing wonderfuly well.
Been coming here since 1978.. this area opp GPO used to be a hub for Punjabi food as this trio-
Sher-e-Punjab, Neelam and Kalpana would be filled with office goers rubbing shoulders and sharing tables with Taxi Drivers thronging these outlets for robust Punjabi meals... for a modest sum of about Rs 2/-, one cud get a plate of two Tandoori Rotis with either a Chana Masala /Rajma /Dal Fry!
Over time, the other two downed shutters, but Shere Punjab still going strong 🙏🏼🌹
Just before the Pandemic we went for lunch. Chicken Razalla- tandoori boneless chicken wrapped in cheese- simply awesome, followed by Stuffed Amritsari Kulcha, Classic Tandoori Butter Roti along with Mutton Saagwala- all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Since day one, for the past 42 years, its been a tradition of completing our meal here with their simple but irresistable Jelly with Vanilla Icecream.
This is one place we can visit again n again n..😋
Food quality in this place is awesome.
It has non-veg speciality.
the starters of punjabi style are delicious.
the taste makes us to have more and more food.
this is located near CST station so even if you are at to leave mumbai you can have some delicious food here and can make your last moments in mumbai precious.
