By far the best South Indian restaurant in Bombay and one of the best I've been to anywhere in India. Start with a plate of molgapodi idli, then a dosa or uthappam to fill your stomach and then a filter coffee so that you don't sleep right there
Having stayed in banglore for 5+ years and moved to Mumbai Dakshinayan is the place that quenched my South indian breakfast soul.
Must eat South indian place in Mumbai
Podee idly and the Spring dosa were absolutely amazing,
Poddee idly with the ghee and special masala tadka really lifted up the dish providing it with superb aroma and a earthiness, can't have enough of it, the taste still lingers in my mouth
Spring Dosa I was big surprise, loaded with cheese and filling of freshly julienned vegetables was absolutely awesome, filling and tasty
Sambhar and the ginger ale to top it all was a sonee pe suhagaa moment,
Slurrrppp

Dakhsinayan doesn’t need any introduction. Its been around for a really long time. No frills, simply popular because of the authentic food they have been serving years after years. Located in Juhu, next to Iskon Temple, #Dakshinanyan does not allow table reservations. It’s a first come first serve basis only. Especially on weekends, you must be ready to wait for minimum 45 mins to 1 hr if you wish to eat here. But trust me the wait it worth it !
Its a simple place and I think its simplicity pleases its diners. Their food is always on point. An elaborate menu, always has the dishes available.
Tip - Go there empty stomach because you are sure to hog !
Location : Juhu. Near Iskon Temple
What to eat :
Kancheepuram Idli ( this comes with vegetables and peppers seasoning) Thayir Idli ( Curd Idli )
Rasam : Do not start your meal without this as an appetizer. Its a must ! Ambassador Idli : Mini idlis soaked in Sambar and garnished with coconut, spices and onion.
Nei Masala Dosai ( Ghee Masala Dosa)
Any of the rice preparations - Thakalli Sadam ( Tomato Rice) , Piyadorai ( Tamarind Rice), Sambar / Rasam Rice
or Bisibelle Huliaana - this ones cooked with vegetables and pulses. Its too delicious. And don't forget to wash it down with a glass of fresh chaas ( buttermilk)
To sum it all, anything you eat here is a delight to your taste-buds.
Total cost per person does not exceed more than 600 Rs.
The most simple kind of restaurant but yet always packed thus always go there by 7.
Loved idlis quite filling and super hot! Like fresh! The food is fresh! Loved the filter coffee never miss.
Also the amazing crowd. The staff is always on their toes. And fast service. Love it!
Dakshinayan serves the best authentic south Indian food in Mumbai! Almost everything on their menu has an impeccable taste- especially their coconut chutney. Im a huge fan of that chutney for sure! From their crisped to perfection dosa’s to their range of oothapams, they have the most satisfying and soulful taste of south India.

Here are some of my favourites from Dakshinayan :
* Thakkali rasam (₹120) - Tangy and piping hot authentic rasam, it’s the best starting point to your meal as it truly has the power of opening your senses!
* Mini Masala Idli (₹195) - Tiny Idli’s stir fried in their masala with tomatoes and onions, theyre extremely delicious and soft.
* Ambassador Idli (₹205) - These Idli’s are perfect for those who love them drowned in their sambhar, a very tasty dish. Must try.
* Idli wada (₹150) - I guess everybody would agree with me that a hot plate of Idli-wada makes for a perfect south Indian breakfast, best of both worlds!
* Panniyaram (₹185) - Panniyarams are like fluffy rice pancakes, sort of like idli’s, but they’re slightly harder in texture on the outside and they taste amazing with their signature chutney.
* Rava onion masala dosa (₹210) - One of my favourites as i prefer rava dosa to the regular dosa.
* Spring Dosai (₹250) - veggie stuffed dosa, nutritious and yummy. They also have their paper dosai which is one of the longest dosa’s in Mumbai, I guess it would take 2-3 people to fully devour it.
* Mix Oothapams (₹195) -One cannot beat the taste of a classic onion and tomato oothappa!
* Dakshinayan Specials
- Chettinad malign Dosa ( tangy and spice chettinad masala dosa)
- Appam with stew (classic south indian dish with steamed rice pancakes and coconut based stew with vegetables)
- Filter Coffee (Did you even eat at a south Indian Restaurant if you didn’t top off your meal with some hot and refreshing filter coffee?)
Drop into Dakshinayan for some tasty and authentic south Indian food which will truly make you relish it and appreciate the cuisine.
Happy Hogging! :)
Sambhar is the closest south indian sambhar you can find. Its not sweet (yeahhh). Chutney is good, food is fresh. Go early or be ready to wait for a long time to be seated.
Any day, Anytime you go to this place is always full. You might have to wait for an hour or so to get a place.
Even though you are not in the South, this place has the best and the most authentic South Indian food you can ever wish for. There is no comparison.
What are my favorites:
1. Rasam Wada
2. Bissi Bella Bhaat
3. Steamed Idli
4. Rava Dosa
5. Tomato Rice
These are the must have dishes here.
Molgapodi Idli : One of their most recommended dishes, mini idlis tossed in spicy molgapodi powder, with an addition of freshly made ghee. Must try!
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐⠀⠀⠀
⠀
Appam with Stew : Steamed rice pancakes served with a mild coconut based stew. Slightly disappointed with this dish, the stew was too bland with a weird sweet flavor. Not recommended.
⭐⭐️⠀⠀⠀
⠀
Ulundu Vadai : Can you do without a plate of medu vada when you walk into a South Indian restaurant?
⭐⭐⭐️⭐⠀⠀⠀
Tried the Mysore sada dosa & moglapodi idli. Both were good! Also loved the two chutneys - tomato & onion which were served along with it! A little disappointed with the filter coffee though. Overall good experience :)
Loveeee the food and environment better then other restaurant I ate for sure if you are idli lover and crave please do visit and satisfy you self with taste
One of the most famous South Indian restaurants in juhu and it's really worth the hype!

Officially found the perfect breakfast for a Sunday morning. ✔️🥰
Served with coconut chutney and sambhar, it's a comforting dish for your tummy to start the day
The happy feeling when the waiter beelines for your table, using both his hands to balance one humongous plate of Dosa that looks as big as the table itself, cannot be put into words. The titanic-sized dosa is amongst the largest Dosas you can find in Mumbai. Slathered with buttery goodness and served with spicy and flavourful aloo masala, and multiple mini bowls of sambhar and chutneys, it is truly a group task to gobble it all up in one go.
I do like this place. I discovered it a couple of years ago when a friend invited me for dinner here. I wouldn't have found this location otherwise. I now come here most of the time but the food is the same in both locations.
Space: this is larger than the Teen Batti location but looks the same - picnic style white tables and benches, very clean.
Food: I love their giant paper dosa, the little fried rice balls, the molgapudi and the coffee is outstanding. While I'm not a fan of idlis, theirs are extremely soft and well prepared
Timing: If you come on the weekend, the place is pretty packed but during the week it's quiet except for dinner. Expect an approximate 45 min wait on the weekend.
Wait staff: The servers are mostly run off their feet but their turn around time to bring out food is very quick and they offer advice about the specials they have. when we had a long wait to get in, they served us coffee in the seating area which was kind of them. They were also patient with the people who kept coming ahead and asking for seating
Absolutely loved my dining experience here .... Loved everything abt this place, starting for the atmosphere to the hospitality to the food and the rates ... Just everything.
We went here for a weekend brunch and it hd a lovely positive vibe to it with families dining together just like hving bfast at ur home. I say this also because the food served ws quick, steaming hot and served with so much love, just as u wud gt at home.
The food tasted great and very authentic to the south indian flavours, which is rare to find in Mumbai, atleast I hvnt found anywhere before this .... The vada, idli, mysore masala dosa and tomato onion uthapam all were great .... U can mk tht out from the pics as all pics hv the half eaten ... Just cudnt stop myself frm digging in to tk a pic 😂😆
Another thing tht I highly appreciate there ws their generous serving for sambhar and chutney, no matter how many times u ask for a refill, it ws always served hot and the sambhar and chutney both are great.
This one's gonna be a regular on my list for sure
Dakshinayan is one of the best south Indian food joint in Juhu located opposite ISKON temple. Always crowded one of the best family crowd place. Food is super tasty and worth the price. Service is little slow considering it It is super crowded specially on weekends. I prefer going on regular weekdays to avoid the rush. I have visited couple of times and have tried their Filter Coffee (out of the world), gunpowder idli (super delicsious), nei idli (ghee soaked idli super rich on taste), onion masala dosa (crispy and masala tastes yumm), lemon rice (one of my most favorite dish), rasam vada (good for those evening cravings), rava kesari (absolute worth having). I love the taste of their sambhar and chatni it is far better than other restaurants in the area. Must visit place if you love south Indian food and you are around ISKON temple.
A fantastic dining experience at Dakshinayan! Tomato rasam is a brilliant appetizer and is strongly recommended. It set the mood for the afternoon and we were quick to finish some Kancheepuram idli and Medu vada. But the best of all was Mysore Sada dosa, absolutely the very best I have ever had. The Mysore masala dosa is also a good variation. We did not forget to order Filter Coffee at the end to complete the feel of a great South Indian meal.
Best place to go for south indian food... It's a family restaurant and I can gaurantee any dish you order you'll love it... It's my go to place usually for a morning breakfast after a run on the beach.
Dakshinayan is an ideal place for spending best family time with the best South Indian food. The menu is not too vast, but all delicacies are too good to tickle your taste buds. Waiters are humble and proactive to fill Sambar & Chutney once its over in your platters. Jain version of all dishes are available & its equally tasty. Located near Juhu beach, make Dakshinayan the part of your dinner time.
What to try?
Any delicacy. All are scrumptious.
One of my favourite places for south indian food in mumbai..located just opposite the iskcon temple in juhu..the place is always crowded in weekends so be ready for sharing tables and waiting for half n hour..
The service is not too quick not too slow quite moderate staff is courteous and polite..
My personal favourite over here is
1. Rasam idli- they serve one of the best rasams in mumbai
2. Onion sada dosa
3. Filtered coffee
4. Masala chaas
5. Podi idli
Everything here is served with three chutneys and sambar..white chutney..red garlic chutney and one brown tamarind sweet and spicy chutney..all the three chutneys are amazing..the sambar is the only thumps down over here..

Good staff, good service, fairly priced and authentic South Indian food... Can't expect more from this restaurant. Must try the masala dosa and rasam vada.
One of the gems of South Indian cuisine in Mumbai. My every visit has been for Sunday morning breakfast. But they have also started serving breakfast since 8 AM now on Saturdays. Thayir Idli, Paper Dosa, Thayir Wada are some of my favourites here. Not to forget the filter coffee!
Dakshinayan was on my list from a long time , I enjoyed it to the core
The food isnfinger licking
We had Chettinad maglai dosai and malgapodi idli
Chettinad dosai is spicy and is basically a dish from Andra Pradesh
The side chutneys served with onion and tomato chutney
The ambience is great and calm. And if you are a bollywood junkie then you would be lucky enough to spot them here
Other good things which I have had before where filter coffee, maysore masala dosa
By far one of the best South Indian restaurant out there in mumbai.. what a treat it is to the taste buds.. totally recommend. Just love it..
Kudos to this place for serving mouth boggling south Indian food. This joint is also a celebrity special as you might just end up meeting someone here. This place is so good that there are reservations that need to be made in order to be able to enjoy the wholesome food that they serve (waiting period can easily exceed 1+ hour)
Definitely try out their various dosas they have to offer before trying anything else. Also, the variety of idlis is baffling.
Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ (not very attractive)
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Value for money : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
So we visited this place on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Located just near the Iskcon temple, @_dakshinayan_ is often visited by celebs to satiate their south indian food cravings
The masala dosa was just extremely tasty and crispy. Loved the chutneys and sambar.
Next we ordered Thengai(Coconut) Sevai. Again, extremely authentic flavours of coconut and south indian spices and tadka.
How can a south indian meal end without filter coffee.
This is a must go place for all authentic south indian food lovers with menu ranging from variety of dosai, rice, pongal, idli and much more.
Total bill-290 Rs
I just love this place. Perfect place to go with your family for brunch / lunch / dinner. Just make sure you reach before time as generally there’s 15-20 mins waiting. But if you love South Indian food you much try this place for sure!
One of the BEST places in Mumbai for authentic South Indian food! Had the famous Molgapodi Idli (Mini Idli seasoned with gunpowder and made with generous amount of ghee), Rava Garlic Masala Dosa, Rava Garlic Dosa and Mixed Uttapam.
Can't even begin to explain how good the Rava Garlic Dosa was!
To wash down our food, we ordered Gingerale which was super refreshing! Definitely the best I've had in town.
Desserts were Bina's Homemade Icecream. We tried Rose Almond, Choco chip and Sitaphal.
Overall great quality of food and amazing portions!
Ordered for mini masala idli, poond dosai, paper dosai, rawa onion dosa and falooda. Everything was done perfectly. It is located inside the Anand hostel and midway between Juhu beach and iskcon temple. There is generally waiting on Sunday evenings so a pro tip is to book a table after 7 pm and come back after a walk at juhu garden, small garden with complete view of juhu beach.
Dakshinayan is a nice little Udipi restaurant situated near Iskcon temple. I absolutely love their food. This place is usually packed on weekends and has a waiting time of 30-40 mins but the food is worth it. Their filter coffee is really nice. I love their mysore sada dosa, bisibele rice, idli and paper dosa.
This place is gold!
Tried to get some late lunch last Sunday, but no luck! 1-hour-waiting-at-3:45 pm!Managed to get in today and now i know why people are so crazy about it. Yummy food! Everything, from Dosas to idlis to chutnies to sambhar, was so fresh and delicious. Not a big fan of south-indian spread, but this place is definitely going on my 'visit atleast once-a-month' list.
Went here with 10 friends for a Sunday morning Breakfast.
Reached at 9:30 am and had to wait for about 20 mins for a table. Since we were a big group we ordered almost every item possible. I love south indian food and most of them were perfect for me.
The location is just opposite hare rama hare krishna temple which attracts the crowd.
From dosa to idli to rasam vada to sheera to tomato sevaiya to pongal all items are good.
A must try if you want to have a good south indian breakfast.
An amazing place in the calm of a small street.... They serve great authentic South Indian Food which brings l'eau à la bouche.... A Must Must Visit for the lovers of Authentic South Indian food.... The staff is very courteous and cooperative.... There's not much variety in the dishes provided, but whatever they provide is totally amazing and up to the mark..... Just make sure you be there well in time to avail direct entry into the restaurant as there's waiting most of the time.... So do visit this pocket friendly place to satisfy your taste buds with Authentic Amazing South Indian food..... 😍😋😋 With Deepa Nadkarni Ratnakar Nadkarni Niranjan Lele
I am personally a big South Indian food lover.. And when it comes to filter coffee its unfair to compromise on taste and aroma of the coffee.. Dakshinayan serves you the typical filter coffee and of course the typical and tasty south Indian food... If you are in juhu go and visit once... 🙂
Comfort food at its best!
Best in class. Be prepared to wait between 30-40 mins on Saturday and Sunday. Excellent authentic south indian feast. friendly and professional staff.
We have been patronizing the place for last two years, never had a reason to complain.
The place is clean & hygienic which serves authentic dishes. We tasted the Onion Uttapam which was so crispy & delicious!
Hands down the best south Indian restaurant in mumbai, I have tried many other south indian places like banana leaf or soam but this is unbeatable. Each and every dish is delicious and the molgapudi idli(gunpowder) is mind blowing. If someone like rawa masala then this is the place for you because they make their rawa masala batter with garlic and it's very delicious.
Famous vegetarian south Indian joint, that enjoy high footfalls. Courteous and professional service. Food is well made and instructions followed. Clean, economically priced and well portioned plates.
Went to Dakshinayan for sunday dinner.. waiting was for about half hour..
The place is small so sometimes they will ask you to share tables.. it is peaceful and service is quick
We ordered rava sada dosa, kanchipuram idli, rasam idli and masala dosa.. all were nice and well made
Overall a light dinner experience!
Enjoy an Authentic breakfast at Dakshinayan located near juhu beach where you get some of the best south indian dishes cooked in healthy vegetable oil. The ambience is spiritual and that helps you enjoy your food. The restaurant is huge with comfortable seating for the diners. The place is crowded and it takes 30-40 minutes waiting time but, once you are in your wait becomes a worthy one.
We ordered paper dosa, molgapodi idli and pineapple halwa. Paper dosa was huge crispy dosa serving around 2-3 people that gives a perfect start to your morning. Next was molgapodi idli where you get small pieces of idli sprinkled with gun powder. The gun powder was spicy and went well with the idli. To finish our heavy breakfast, we ordered pineapple halwa which was smooth, sweet, full of pineapple essence and apt for satisfying your morning hunger pangs. The place is a bit pricey but the food quality and the ambience settles the score.
It’s always good going here. The 30’minute waiting is worth it. Even over the years they have kept there service, food and staff up to mark. There’s no room for error. Staff is courteous, friendly and fast as lightening. The food is just delicious. I have no complains. Just keep up the good work. Keep serving the yummy South Indian that you do!
Food is amazing😍. Must try mini masala idli. Worth waiting the long line.
Service was amazing. Very clean restaurant. Would like to visit again😀
Authentic South Indian food. MULGAPODI IDLI was my favourite. Its tangy taste and lil spicy will just melt in your mouth. If you love South Indian cuisine, this place is must visit.
Worth the visit.

Dakshinayan is one of the rare gem in Mumbai for Authentic South Indian Cuisine. No doubt the waiting is 30-40 minutes. But the wait is worth to enjoy the limited South Indian cuisine. The ambience is very decent and simple. The staff is friendly too. I would recommend the following things to try at Dakshinayan:-
1) Masala Idli
2) chettinad maligu Dosa
3) Paper Sada Dosa
4) Bisi Bele Bhaat
5) curd Rice
All the above items are served with hot 🔥 Sambhar and thick Cocount Chutney. Along with this two dips they also serve you Garlic Chutney and Tomato Chutney. Guys I have became gr8 fan of their Tomato Chutney..
Over all a value for money restaurant.
My rating would be 8/10
Best place for south Indian cousin. Filter coffee is excellent. Fully loaded on weekends. The place is absolutely clean and hygienic. The service is quick. Open on All seven days.
Apart from the amazing South Indian food that you get in some of the eateries in Matunga, this place will have to qualify as the best in wholesome, good South Indian food. The only blemish is the filter coffee which doesn’t really live upto the Mark . Good variety of dosas and really nice unlimited chatni . You will be accompanied by families around you and if you visit around 4pm, you come across senior citizens in groups having a dosa and a coffee. Service is prompt and nothing fancy but efficient .
Highly Recommended: Masala Idli, Mysore Masala Dosa
This is my all-time favourite place for any South Indian food. All the dishes they serve are amazing. Friends love their filter coffee too. The outlet is very simple - just like their food. You can order the food also, its mostly delivered warm. A must visit place for all South Indian food lovers. :)
My favourite comfort food! Order the sambhar rice, ghee idli and molgapudi idli! Best. Their buttermilk is also good. The restaurant is clean, the service quick, and the flavours are generally much better than other Udupis I have eaten in. All in all, highly recommended.
Dakshinayan is well known for it's authentic South Indian cuisine. A must try place if you love south indian cuisine
Here's what we ordered
1. Mulgapudi idli
Mini idlies were seasoned with gun powder.
2. Mini masala idli (must try)
Mini idlis were seasoned with onion and tomatoes
3. Masala uttapam
Uttappa was topped with onion, tomato, potato masala and sprinkled with green chillies.
4. Paper dosa (must try)
Just as the name says, it is super crisp and huge. It can suffice 3 people. Make sure you have company to finish this dosa
5. Rava masala dosa
Rava dosa was filled with onion, tomato and aloo masala.
6. Mysore masala dosa
Dosa was filled with mysore masala
7. Falooda
It was a perfect way to end your day. It wasn't too sweet, just perfect
Also, they provide unlimited sambhar and chutney
Ambience and Service:
The ambience is simple, subtle transitional interiors. It makes you feel homely. The staff is well trained and the service is quick.
It truly is a gem in the heart of Juhu.
P.S.: Be ready to wait in queue for for minimum 30-45 minutes
I’ll start by saying- It’s totally worth the wait!
The rasam vada, podi idli and pepper dosa, along with a glass of butter milk are my personal favourites from the menu. If you’re visiting Mumbai- this place is a MUST MUST try. The magic of a simple yet soulful south indian meal will make you visit this place over and over again. And don’t forget to end your meal with a satisfying cup of filter coffee.
Good restaurant if u want to try typical south indian food outside Udupi restaurants....
Good range of dishes ranging from Rasam to Appam n Ishtu....
Ghee Roast Dosai was good but chutneys lack the zing.
Decor is matching the theme with servers in black mund n black shirts.
As the name suggests Dakshinayan is a restaurant serving authentic south Indian delicacies. They have two branches located in prime locations of Mumbai i.e. Juhu and Malabar Hills.
We have visited Juhu Dakshinayan couple of times and the experience has always been delightful. The subtle ambience and courteous staff makes dining here a pleasure.
We have tried various dishes namely Rasam wada, Maysore Masala Dosa, Pongal, Molgapodi Idli, Masala Uttapam, Steam idli with gun powder and ghee.
All the dishes were well prepared and served with typical south Indian Chutneys and Sambhar. Rasam wada, Pongal, Molgapodi Idli, and Steam idli with gun powder and ghee are must haves here.
My ratings on scale of 5 are as under
Food 5/5
Ambience 3/5
Staff 4/5
PS: As this restaurant is generally crowded, the normal waiting time on weekends is 30-45 minutes.
Make sure when you plan to visit this place , be ready for 30-45 minutes of waiting time . Such is the demand on week days also , which is only for their quality and quantity . Juhu has this gem for taking out your parents , they will love it for sure . Weekends will have more waiting time , fellow foodies plan well , and do visit this gem
Dakshinayan
One of the best restaurants in Juhu for authentic South Indian food. You will often have to wait for your turn as this place is jam packed with people. Food is delicious, they give sambhar refills and some tasty chutney's which makes it all the more yummy. Staff is very courteous and helpful and the restaurant ambience is simple and elegant. A must visit place.
Heard abt this place since long.. and landed here by fate and no regrets for that.. a simple and clean place.. limited menu.. and a good one.. i asked for a ghee masala dosa and an kanchipuram idli and ginger ale.. the dosa was nice and crispy.. and the idli was good but to be honest i like the kamchipuram idli at dwarka in fort better.. the sambar was lovely and so were the various chutneys.. the ginger was refreshing.. the service was prompt.. and ambience was clean and neat.. will definitely visit again..
Excellent food though the Sambar can be better . siervce b yZomato is outstanding and real life saver also though bit of a trick. Tomato purportedly gives offer of 40 % discount but the caveat is maximum of int 100 per order. This is very misleading. Swiggy that way is more honest.
Dakshinayan is like heaven for South Indian food lovers. Truly great experience. Try the Gun Powder Idli and Spicy Pepper masala dosa. The filter coffe is to die for.
Highly recommended.
Great South Indian Food. The service is awesome! Wrapped up the breakfast with some well made filter coffee
The idlis and the rava dosa are Very well made.
So I and my friend randomly decided to go to this place in Juhu . It was 1030pm and the restaurant was about to get closed in half an hour. It was raining. We ordered molagapodi idli and Mysore masala dosa . The moment I took the first bite of the idli , I was in heaven . The food which they serve here is heavenly , delicious, tasty and pocket friendly . The service by the staff was good . Overall the ambience , the paintings were beautiful. Highly recommended !!
Great south Indian food. Highly recommend going there with the family. Tried the uthappam varieties here and each one stood out. Staff are also extremely polite. Overall great place.
Absolutely amazing. Food was very tasty, service was very fast and prices were nominal. We enjoyed the authentic South Indian food with opening of it's gate at 8am. One must go there if residing in Juhu.
Dakshinayan near Iskcon Temple at Juhu Beach offers a delightful South Indian culinary experience. The Rasam Wada is a must-try, with its perfect blend of tanginess and spice. The Tatte Idli is another highlight, featuring fluffy idlis served in an appealing tatte (plate). Complement your meal with their refreshing fresh sugarcane juice, a perfect thirst-quencher. The ambiance is serene, enhancing the overall dining experience. The attentive staff and clean surroundings add to the restaurant's charm. Dakshinayan is a fantastic choice for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts seeking authentic flavors by Juhu Beach.
This is definitely a great place for authentic South Indian food. Nestled in a building near ISKON temple at Juhu, the place offers great food. Have been here twice, there is always a waiting here. This time went for breakfast on a Sunday and waiting for 15-20 mins was there. Service - outstanding, Food - unmatched. Ambience is great too. Despite the rush, staff is prompt and helpful. Must visit.
I’m have been a regular here and today I thought lemme write a few lines for them. Their food has always been fresh and good. It’s authentic South Indian food at its best. Their Dosai is fresh and cool. They would make it Crispy or normal as per your request so it’s superb. Their filter coffee is heaven . The staff is good, polite and suggests good options.
Dakshinayan is a South Indian restaurant in Juhu, Mumbai which has one of the best South Indian food in the city. The place is right opposite iskon temple and has parking available. The place has beautiful interior and lovely staff. The food was top notch and make you want to eat continuously. The dosa was crisp and tatti idli was a game changer. So if you are around and want to eat South Indian than this is your place.
Awesome place, located near ISKON Temple, Juhu, this place served good South Indian Dishes.
Key Takeaways:
Parking - Available but limited to around 8 to 12 cars, can park at iskon also where there is ample parking, still Sunday's could be a challenge.
On the ground floor hence suitable for old aged also.
Food was fantastic. We visited on a Sunday Lunch so according to the Rush the food was fair enough and did justice to its reputation.
On Sundays either reach early or be prepared to wait for an hour.
Service was fast
Overall satisfactory and justice to its hype
Cost for 2 - 750 to 1000
Best place for South Indian food.Fabulous taste and flavor. Very good experience...
Awesome place for eating. Rarely we see complete picture of eating joint where we get authentic food, tasty, fresh in peaceful atmosphere, 5 star ambience and very polite and understanding service staff.
This should be a place for learning for people who own restaurant or hotels. They should also visit such a wonderful Retreat for tomy and mind. 💥💥💥💥💥
Very amazing food. Had breakfast here 3 days in a row and loved it.
Typical authentic South Indian food. Loved the Vada sambhar, filer coffee, coconut uttapam and butter milk.
Would definitely visit again if I happen to come to Juhu.
Amazing place near Isckon Juhi.
Lovely taste good serving mostly crowded ...
Definitely some of the best South Indian I’ve had - period! The Rava Garlic Masala dosa was too good. Gun powder idly was also killer. They are very vegan friendly and everything you request can be made without ghee or butter and in oil. Oh also their chutneys are 🔥it’s a little pricey, but the quality makes up for it.
The food quality is very good. One of the only restaurant if you want to eat authentic South Indian food. The food variety and quality is excellent must visit once without fail if you like eating South Indian food. Must try the malgapudi idli
Had dinner there with friend.

Service is amazing, Order just came in like3 minutes or less.
Chacch is amazing too, don't forget to order
We went for Saturday breakfast. It was fully packed with 30 mins waiting time. But the wait is justified by the quality of food.
We ordered onion dosa, rasam vada, cheese dosa and filter coffee. Rasam vada is amongst the best in Mumbai. Dosa prep is also nice.
Parking is limited hence we had to park in nearby lanes.
Very good restaurant to have authentic south Indian meals. Awesome ambience, clean, and a great taste. I took, uttapam, masala dosa and filter coffee. All the three dishes were of great taste. The restaurant is just a walking distance from Iskon Juhu temple. A must visit place. Do visit.
Finally tried this renowned South Indian gem! The Sunday lunch visit included a 30-min wait, but the swift service made up for it. While the overall food experience was average, a few dishes shone. Special mention to the outstanding filter coffee—truly a highlight. Prices are reasonable, and the 8 am opening offers an authentic South Indian breakfast. A culinary journey with ups and downs, but the flavorful moments and inviting morning offerings make it a worthy stop for South Indian cuisine lovers.
The food was divine. Something to die for. And I’m saying this as a fastidious person when it comes to food.
Had to share the table and didn’t get any payasam as a dessert. But yet the choices were very authentic and delicious. Must visit.
This is the place for South Indian Cuisine.
The Staff was friendly and were ready to help.
The service is quick.
The place is generally full, so be ready to wait a little before your meals.
The Sambar and chutney were tasty. We enjoyed eating their Cheese Spring Dosa. Paniyaram was also good.
Spicy Pepper Dosa was just ok..You can choose to skip it.
The Gulab Jamuns were delicious and a must have. The sweetness was well balanced.
Raca Kesari sheera was a little bland. The sweetness was less, it may be a good option for people who eat less sugar.
We have heard that their Rose Falooda is worth having. But as we were already full couldn't try this.
The place is well maintained and even washrooms are clean.
I would recommend visiting this place at least once.
