I was absolutely delighted with the splendid service and hospitality from the restaurant. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the scrumptious food that I was served. I have dined here a few times and I genuinely miss eating in the restaurant because of the ambience it creates.
However, the food I'm rating them for was delivered, and it was delicious. I am absolutely going to be ordering from here again! You must too!

Delicious, lip smacking food. This is my favourite restaurant in the whole of Mumbai! The Ambience is perfect, cutesy and cosy.
The gunpowder mini idlis made of ghee are yummy you can feel them melting in your mouth! Highly recommend it💙🤭
They serve you a plate with tasters and tell you the origin of every rice and Gravy what are your options from veg to non veg.
Do Not! Leave without the Mysore pak💙🤭 it's heavenly.

I miss Tanjore in this lockdown can wait to visit again with my buddies.

The Tanjore Tiffin Room is a great restaurant for a South Indian style meal. Usually, this kind of cuisine is popular in smaller no-frills restaurants but this is a great place to enjoy a meal with your family. It is a pretty space with an earthy colour scheme and lots of greenery along with potted plants hanging from the ceiling. While it gets clubbed as a South Indian restaurant, which it is, the food is more focused on Chettinad cuisine and dishes from Tamil Nadu. 'Chicken 65', 'Mini Gunpowder Idlis' and 'Yam Cutlets' are a great way to start your meal. They have an excellent concept of a tasting thali, you can sample different curries and then decide which one to order
Try their 'Rowdy Rasam', it is a 'Bloody Mary' with a twist of 'Rasam'
The 'Jackfruit Curry' and 'Karaikudi Fried Prawns' are both excellent.

Enjoyed my lunch here on Saturday afternoon. The concept is unique. They served the small.portion of all curries so you can try and ask for the one which suits your taste.
Finding such a unique south Indian restaurant in mumbai is difficult. Taste were authentic and not so common to our taste buds. Overall happy customer.

Truly a gem!
Authentic South Indian non vegetarian cuisine at its best.
I think everything on the menu deserves to be tried out . Loved the choice they give for selecting the curries and rice for the main course.
Dessert options are limited but the filter coffee is alright!
Bananas with the bill is a nice touch.
Staff is friendly , well informed ,assisting and polite.
Ambience is fine .

I went to this place for a quick on the run breakfast... The authenticity of this place was amazing... I just love how they had decorated the entire place.... I ordered a gun powder idli and trust me it was super yum... I have been a fan of gun powder idli and it kept the love intact... Best to go with your friends... The menu was tempting and there were ample options for the main course... It is a must-try and kind of visit to heaven if you are a non-vegetarian... Do give it a try for Sunday brunch...

Had the best meal of my life at The Tanjore Tiffin Room Andheri West. It is recommended that you book the table in Advance to get yourself an AC section table because you wouldn't want to sit outdoors in this terrible heat.

So we started with the starter Chicken Pepper, Wow this was just awesome very different and so aromatic you just don't want to stop eating this.

Then we ordered for drinks , the colourful Garden Gallata which was Gin based and very apt for this weather, the other one was Thailaiva which was rum and coconut based a lil strong for my liking avoidable

Now comes the awesome part, before the main course the restaurant gets you a sampling portion of all the gravies which they have and 3 types of rice and you are told to try and are explained about the gravy and informed which all dishes could be prepared in it. This is brilliant haven't experienced something like this ever.

So for the main course we ordered Chicken stew and Prawns Chettinad along with Appam, Iddiappam and Malabar Parotha.

2 of us finished everything nothing was wasted and we were given a complimentary tasting portion of Payasum.

It was a wonderful experience the food is out of this world each and every dish eaten was just remarkable prepared with utmost authenticity..

PS: When i turned to the left i even got a chance to get a glimpse at the great Leander Paes enjoying his food.

Rating 5/5. This is a Gem of a place guys. I

The one thing I like the most is that their balance between spices
The people who love to have hot and spicy food here is your place . Their service were too good . And I also like thier green chutney who's was soul of today's dinner
I'll like to come here again and try some more dishes. Actually I like this place also because of their interior look which attracts me so I'll definitely come again

Ambiance

Tanjore has a really laid-back and cool ambiance. They are traditional and chic at the same time. This place is a must visit in the evening, especially the outside seating is too awesome. I loved the bar area too. You can have your drinks and eat food also at the bar.

And, its better that you book a table in advance for the evenings even on the weekdays. I had to wait at the bar to get the table but i loved sitting at the bar also. So even if you get the bar area, you will have a great time. The servers are quite friendly and funny too. I loved their service and energy.

Food Quality

I am sucker for south Indian food and Tanjore impressed me big time with it's home-cooked style authentic dishes. I picked Egg Bonda and Chicken 65 in starters which I absolutely loved. Especially Egg, it was pretty new for me. Deep fried egg and stuffed with potato masala. Loooooved it. A MUST TRY.

In main course, you can pick anything from dosa to appam or malabar parotta with any chicken, prawns or egg dish. Ad they give you the option to choose your gravy. Picking the gravy was my favorite part. They have about 12 types gravies which they get in a plate and ask you to taste all and pick whichever appeases your taste buds. I chose omelette with some greenish gravy along with malabar parotta, and it was nothing short of incredible. I simply loved the food at Tanjore. The whole vibe of this place is so cool.

Drinks

The drinks menu is a bit on the expensive side. I opted for kingfisher ultra which is 310 for a pint. and other drinks are too expensive. Bombay sapphire 30 ml for 410 is a bit too much. That was a little disappointment. Otherwise, I am gonna go again. Very cool place to chill with friends in the evening. My total bill was 2700 for all these things (including 3 beers).

We were there for my dad's 70th birthday and the staff went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care off. Kudos to Anu, the manager who helped us plan this event and her efficient staff who were by our side the entire time. The food was spectacular as always but I truly think the staff and the manager need the mentioning here. A fabulous experience! Thank you!

Special thanks to the manager/hostess . We ( party of seven ) were about to bolt , surveying the teeming crowd and populated tables , but she got us a table immediately. And then checked on us all through out the lunch . This kind of service , though not rare , is certainly not easy to come by. Food was very tasty though we did have to wait for second rounds .

Ambience - 4.3/5

At night, the tanjore tiffin room becomes a great spot for a date with its dim lights and candle-lit tables.

Service - 5/5

Top-notch service. Everyone working here was really kind and helpful. Mr. Gerald deserves a special mention for taking really good care of our table.

Food - 4.5/5

Pepper chicken - Simple, no-nonsense appetiser. Tender perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken.

For the mains, they bring you a curry sampler that lets you try all the curries they have to offer. These are the ones I tried :-

Mushroom Chettinad with Appam - One of the best Chettinad gravies I've eaten in the city.

Madras Railway chicken curry with idiappam - This cashew and coconut based gravy was so rich and delicious. Each bite left me wanting more.

Besides Appam and idiappam, they also have several types of rice that you could opt for.

Mysore pak - This is the only food item they don't make in-house. I found it a bit too sweet, but that's just how Mysore Pak is.

Payasam - A light kheer-like dessert that works if you don't want something too sweet.

Value for money - 5/5

Score - 4.7/5

Really amazing culinary experience. I just loved my cocktail - The Thalaivaa. It was sweet, tangy and very refreshing. Totally recommend nethili fry. It's a good finger food and would go really well with drinks. I liked their concept of giving curry samplers . Also worth mentioning is that I happen to check the bill after we had already paid for it and noticed that the dessert wasn't accounted for. So we notified the staff and told them that they could give a separate bill just for the dessert. But instead they charged on the house since it was a error on their part. This was a really nice gesture.
Things that we ordered-
The Thalaivaa
Ginger lemon honey gin
Buff pepper fry
Nethili fry
Chicken stew
Appan
Malabar parotta
Mysore pak

Before I talk about the food, let me tell you a bit about the amazing service here! We visited this place on a packed Sunday night. Despite the crowd, all of the servers were warm, welcoming and cheerful. This CHANGES the entire dining experience. 5/5 for hospitality.

We were given a tasting platter of various curry bases so that we can make a better choice at ordering and not regretting. 5/5 for innovation.

The food was scrumptious and portions were filling. You can't just get enough in one visit! Going to be my go-to South Indian cuisine place now!

Overall, we had an amazing authentic dining experience!

Well, this place is already quite a rage and justifiably so. The food is not just unique but mouth wateringly delicious, with just the right blend of spice. From the subtle chicken stew to the almost habanero-type spicy meatball curry, this place is a treat if you are fond of Andhra food. Try any meat dish with their crispy flaky malabar porotha and u wil know. And of course, the huge array of alcohol and cocktails make for a nice lazy evening here. Just one small disappointment though - i feel they really need to know how to make a good appam coz that was more of a papad than a true blue south Indian soft squishy appam.
Lastly, Anu who manages the place is very helpful, friendly and polite ..and as long as the place isn't super crowded on a weekend, she wud find u a cool table to gorge on those curries.

Great place to enjoy some South delicacies..!

Ambiance

2 seating areas- AC & Non AC.

Always go for the AC one if you dont want the incessant honking & traffic sounds on the road to disturb u while you are having food. The place is bang on the main road with just a wall to separate the seating area & the mad traffic. The AC area has a old school nostalgic feel to it with old snaps & old scaled/painted walls.

Food

On a bit pricey side, but the taste of the dishes we tasted were totally worth every rupee we paid at the end of the dinner.Clean flavors, fresh stuff off the fire n no same taste of curries(Which is usual in mumbai,Chicken n mutton curry base tasting the same).

Reccomendations :

Starters-

1)Yam/Jackfruit (which ever is available as per season) Cutlet & Spicy Mutton cutlets - spicy n crispy with soft melt in the mouth stuffings coupled with coriander chutney n a tamarind chutney to ease off the spiciness.

2)Mutton Pepper fry - Another crowd favorite in Kerela and Andhra Pradesh. It's a dry preparation of fried mutton pops with lots of onions, curry leaves and freshly ground pepper and a bit of fennel. It's spicy as they dust the final dish with pepper dust to give that extra zing.Caution- It will bring out a bit of sweat on the forehead.

Do ask & try out the curry base sampler for the proteins or veggies in the main course. You taste the curry base n choose what you wanna eat as favored. Also served are 3 rice types which u can order.Better be safe than sorry folks. Rarely we do get it right as desired but here these folks make sure we get what we taste n order.

Maincourse-

1)Mutton Ghee Roast which is a finger licking dish made with rich ghee, the Mangalorean way.

2)Prawns kolumbu- Spicy n tangy.

Both the dishes were accompanied by soft stringy idiyappam's and appam's (bit on the sweeter side.)

Dessert -

Payasam- Not very sweet or less sweet, but in the perfect midway.

These guys have a good bar menu also.
Would surely like to visit again.
Thank you for the great experience.

I went here on a friend’s recommendation and found this place a delight. They have both indoor and outdoor seating area and we picked outdoor as the atmosphere was better. The staff is super friendly and their service quality exceptional. Everything suggested by them turned out really good. We had the yam cutlets and molagapodi idli for starters, both were very well made. But the highlight is the main course where they offer you a platter with all their Gravy and rice varieties and you can choose the main course by tasting. Then they tell what they can make with the gravy. The dish turned out super delicious and we ended the meal with their kheer which was an apt end to a great meal!

They have thought of everything! From the most well informed, friendly and professional staff, to excellent pairings of food. The best part, is the sampler they bring prior to ordering your main course, so you know exactly what you are getting. The cocktails are heady and stiff. We tried with the Tamil Sunrise and the LIIT with cranberry juice. For starters we went with jackfruit cutlets and mini bondas. The main course was appams and parothas with yellow pumpkin curry.

My only suggestion, please open an outlet in Delhi!!!

The tanjor tiffin room is a cosy place with comfort like home. The menu serves typical south indian delicacies and sets the tone for a wholesome south indian meal.
The parrupu wada- a crunchy delight along with mini gun-powder idlies soaked in clarified butter tickled the taste buds. Which was then followed by authentic lemon rice and vegetable stew, a perfect blend of coconut with a tinge of tanginess
Tanjore provides an opportunity for its customers to taste each main course dish served in a palette, making it familiar which is unique and exciting in its own way.

Ideal family outing place for the ppl who loves the south indian delicacies from Tamilnadu.

🍲FOOD: Food menu only has south indian delicacies but that too with great taste. They have a Bar menu as well. I tried Mini Idlis and Paneer Pepper Fry for starters along with Tamarind Rice and Spicy coconut curry with paneer for mains. Even the Dosa Sambhar was good, but they don't have Masala dosa. They also provide a sampling of their main course to taste so that you can easily choose from the variety of curries they have. In drinks, garden galatta was superb.

🎭AMBIENCE: They have 2 seating areas, one with sofas and no music suitable for families and other one with music & high chairs suitable for hangouts. Interiors are also good. And Sevice is superb, very good staff they have.

😍Recommendations:
1. Paneer Pepper Fry
2. Tamarind Rice with Coconut Curry
3. Garden Galatta

It's been only a week in Mumbai and this place is already my favourite go to place. Friends took me there for a small get together and we ordered bunch of stuff, me being the only vegetarian I was little skeptical about it, but as soon as they came up with the curry varieties to choose from, I was pretty much sold. I ordered mushroom in one of the curry I like along with Malabar Prontha and Appam. And it was the blast of flavours in my mouth, really amazing. Had the gun-powder idli for the starter and that was anothwr whole experience for me being from the north. Really loved the vibe of the place as well. Visiting soon again for sure.

A flavor-full afternoon spiced to perfection.

Diwali meals have to be elaborate and staying true to the tradition we ordered everything that looked, smelled and tasted inviting.
We ordered meticulously minced Padmini' mutton cutlet, succulently cooked to perfection Pankajam's lamb chops and an olfactory treat Surmai fry for starters.
The main course was decided after tasting 16 distinctly polarised preparations available for permutations that we fancy. We decided upon
Madras railway chicken curry, Mutton in Uma Athai's curry, Lemon rice, Malabar parotta and Appam.

The drinks included Ginger lemon honey cocktail which they were courteous enough to customise further.

All in all, the finger licking good food will satiate your hunger but not your appetite.

Tanjore Tiffin Room is a quaint place to have lunch with conversation's and an equally upbeat place to wine and dine in the evening with good Cuban music, Tanjore Tiffin Room offers an experience that in our view is authentic in its truest sense. It has a pretty space with an earthy colour scheme and lots of greenery along with potted plants hanging from the ceiling. Coming to food, if you are visiting here for the first time, the server will introduce you to all the curries on a glorious platter in mini bowls; flavours ranging from the sourest tamarind flavour curry to rich Khorma gravy amongst a host of others. Then, you can choose whether you want to have fish, prawns, chicken, mutton or veggies in your choice of the curry. They have variations in rice too. Usually, this kind of cuisine is popular in smaller no-frills restaurants but this is a great place to enjoy a meal with your family. While it gets clubbed as a South Indian restaurant, which it is, the food is more focused on Chettinad cuisine and dishes from Tamil Nadu. 'Chicken 65', 'Mini Gunpowder Idli’s and 'Yam Cutlets' are a great way to start your meal. However, try their most recommended 'Rowdy Rasam', it is basically a 'Bloody Mary' with a twist of 'Rasam'. Awesome service makes this place a heaven for south Indian delicacies with friends and family.

The mutton pepper fry was not too spicy or peppery enough to make your eyes water, but just enough to get a lovely punch of flavour.

The Karaikudi Prawns were golden brown and very fresh. Again the flavours weren't over powering, they had the right amount if subtlety.

After you finish your starters, they come out with a platter of various different curry samples, from which you can choose your curry and choice of meat or vegetables.

We chose the mutton chettinad and the madras prawns in railway curry.
The mutton chettinad had a strong tamarind taste with a hint of spice, the mutton pieces were meaty and large.

The prawn curry was slightly on the sweeter side, and had a nice coconut undertone to it. The prawns were fresh and well sized. The appams were thin and extremely light.

The payyasam had a lot of spices in it, but that's what made it so flavorful. It was also slightly warm so it made a great end to a spectacular meal.

Food Fiends! You opt to come to Andheri- Versova and have special treatment given then this is it!. Well, We stepped out and opted to dine but didn’t know WHAT?, we recalled our friends talking about this place, praising out loud so the best way to prove it right is to go there and eat, that’s how we love recommendations, Isn't it?

Seemed like home, great cozy Ambiance with dim lights In the outside seating area, with fresh flower fragrance on table and Banana leaves decoration on all the walls,

If you travel South or you love south Indian cuisine then the Menu will be friendly to understand. The Service Manager insists you taste a platter full of gravy and some rice types, we found a unique way of pulling a customer to choose a gravy and have an option for various meat with it, HOW THEY DO THAT! It's amazing and well informed.

So Planning went well, we chose our dish and the MIX which we want, Execution(well reserved) but delivery and customer satisfaction, woohoo! Savoury Relished pals.
Food taste – 8,
Ambiance –8,
Value for Happiness- 9
Price- 6 or 7- on the expensive side but worth for food, quality and deary occasions.

We opted for Mini Gun powder Idli, Madras railway chicken curry & Tamarind rice. The Malgapudi masala or gun powder was bang on.. too dry but goes well with idli wrapped in ghee. Tangy Tamarind rice with Madras railway chicken curry (mild coconut flavored) went well with it.

Highly recommended for evening dine outs, Bon Appetit, pals!

What we had: Yam cutlets, Chicken pepper fry, Madras railway curry, parothas and appams

The food tasted really good. I loved the chicken pepper fry and the Madras railway curry. I wouldn't call the experience as authentic chettinad but it was good anyways. The parottas were crispy and flaky like they oughtt to be but a little hard than we are used to. Apart from that the experience was good.

The ambiance is delightful, and the food is truly delicious—no complaints there. Our group enjoyed jackfruit cutlet, kothu Paratha, surmai fry, mini gunpowder idlis, railway curry, appam, and chicken stew, all impeccably flavorful. The portion does seem lesser for the price. Additionally, the mojito didn't quite impress me, though the LIT was enjoyable. Overall, I recommend this place and look forward to returning to explore more items on their menu.

Enough good things can’t be said about this place. I ended up here multiple times during my trip because the food was so good. Whole staff was great every time I was there, especially the bartender Michael. Kothu parotta might be an at home comfort dish for people there, but it’s still great to see on a menu because it tastes amazing. Definitely get the sample platter to try all of the gravies before choosing a selection. Korma was excellent, super rich and flavorful, but my favorite was the Madras Railway Curry, so tasty. Might need a reservation some nights as they do get pretty busy, totally worth it though. I’ll be back here for sure.

One of the few South Indian restaurants that ISN'T vegetarian only! That in itself, makes it get a star. Add to it good service, a cool curry tasting ritual and awesome food, that's 3 more stars! If at all, I'd say the drinks need a little more effort to make them more balanced and tasty.

Oh my goodness, it's a culinary paradise! Thanjore Tiffin Room offers an extensive menu of authentic South Indian delicacies that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy. Whether you're craving crispy dosas, fluffy idlis, or aromatic biryanis, this place has it all. The flavors are rich, the spices are perfectly balanced, and every dish is made with love and care. One of my personal favorites is their masala dosa. It's simply out of this world! The dosa is perfectly crispy on the outside, while the filling of spiced potatoes is incredibly flavorful. And don't get me started on their chutneys and sambar. They are the perfect accompaniments, adding an extra burst of flavor to every bite. The service at Thanjore Tiffin Room is top-notch. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist you. They take the time to explain the menu, make recommendations, and ensure that you have a memorable dining experience. The wait times are reasonable, considering the popularity of the place, and the staff manages to maintain a high level of efficiency even during peak hours. The prices at Thanjore Tiffin Room are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. You get generous portions that are sure to satisfy your hunger and leave you feeling satisfied. It's a great value for money. The cleanliness and hygiene standards are also commendable. The restaurant is well-maintained, and you can see the staff constantly cleaning and sanitizing the tables and seating areas. This attention to detail gives you peace of mind, especially in the current times. Overall, I highly recommend Thanjore Tiffin Room to anyone who wants to experience the true flavors of South India. Whether you're a fan of dosas, idlis, vadas, or any other South Indian delicacy, this place will exceed your expectations. The food, the service, and the ambiance all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. 😃❤️

A nice Tamilian cuisine restaurant , but what we didn't like is that the cuisine doesn't match with the ambience. Either they did some modern touch or they forgot to add some Authentic South Indian touch. Food: Veg korma tasted good , there was a touch of South Indian flavour, you can pair it with Malabar parotta or Appam ( a bowl shaped dosa) and for starters we tried Gun powder ghee mini Idli. & Trust me spiced buttermilk was the best one I had there.

Very rarely you have a meal which is actually a sensory experience just because of the flavors and quality of the food served. The staff was very courteous and helped us in deciding what to order, made sure our 6 month old was also comfortable. The railway curry is unique and a must try, but anyway do the full platter to choose the main course curry. Loved it totally, coming back whenever in Mumbai
