Punjab Grill has approx 6 outlets across Mumbai, and we recently had the opportunity to vist their outlet at Kala Ghoda. It can be easily spotted, since it is right opposite to Jehangir Art Gallery.
As soon as you enter, the first thing one can definitely not miss, are the amazing interiors.
They have a huge chandelier inside!
They also have tables upstairs and downstairs.
The bar is on the ground level.
Coming to the amazing food!
We had their:
BEVERAGES-
MEETHA PATTA MOJITO-
It is a beverage based on beetel leaf (Paan),
and also included bits and pieces of paan along with gulkand it in. The drink was so refreshing and energizing, it will make you feel refresh just at the very first sip.
5/5
MANGO CORIANDER (FROZEN MARGARITA)-
We took a while to figure out what exactly did the taste remind us of, and after finishing the entire margarita, we came to the conclusion that it tasted exactly like Mango bite!
It brought back so many childhood memories of ours!
This one here, also will make your brain freeze a bit, since it has crushed ice. So don't sip alot of it at one go.
5/5! Loved it!
STARTERS-
MULTANI PANEER TIKKA-
This was our favourite amongst all the othet starters. The Paneer was melt-in-mouth soft! And when we cut it, there was a bit of a filling inside, which jus added to the flavours. It was super delicious, and perfectly smoked!
5/5
TANDOORI BROCOLI MALAI MAARKE-
Chose this starter only if you are like brocoli, but the taste of the masala and the cream, made it worth eating.
4/5
DAHI DE KEBAB-
This one was an interesting dish! The outside looked like any other normal kebab, but when sliced cut, the creamy, rich, sweet dahi was filled in. Cute little almonds made them all the more delicious. However, since our has a but of a sweetness, we suggest you to go for it only if you want a bit of sweetness in your starters. The mint chutney at the side, helped in adding a bit of spiciness to the kebab.
3/5
BHUTTEYAAN DE KEBAB-
This kebab is made of Sweet corns and chillies, with a bit of fennel and lemon. It had a nice texture and was a bit on the heavier side. Super healthy option!
4/5
MAIN COURSE-
PANEER LABABDAR-
Cottage cheese in cashew based gravy along with onions, tomatoes and a bit of cream.
Not at all spicy, but super delicious and good. You will literally lick your fingers off!
5/5
GAJAR MATTAR TE AMBARSARI VADI-
Carrots, green peas along with lentils dumplings (The vadi), which were in cute tiny pieces. We tasted the vadi separately, and it was super good. This dish felt more homecooked and soothing! The carrots added a bit of sweetness to the dish, but it's worth trying.
4/5
MASALA KARELE-
We were skeptical about ordering Bitter gourd but thought of giving it a go. The karele came in with a really good filling, half open, and the bitterness of the karela only set in after a few bites. It didn't taste bitter otherwise. The gravy with which it came in, was sweet, which helped and complimented the karela well!
A perfectly balanced dish!
4.5/5
KADHAI MURGH-
Boneless chicken leg with a bit of capsicum and onions, in red gravy. We loved how it tasted so homey, and delicious.
4/5
DAL TADKA-
Yellow dal (Moong, Masoor, Toor) along with a tadka of red chilli just reminds you of home cooked daal chawal. We recommend you to have this dal with steamed rice because that would enhance the flavour of the dal. Super healthy option!
4/5
DAL PUNJAB GRILL-
Kali dal, Rajma along with cream. Rajma is love which we all can agree upon. The buttery taste in the dal really comes out well along with the tomatoes. What's more to say?
5/5
BREADS-
TANDOORI LACCHA PARANTHA-
Made of whole wheat flour which is a good option than the maida flour.
ZAFRANI PARONTHI NAAN
NAAN- ONION, CHEESE, GARLIC
MISSI ROTI
DESSERTS
JALEBI, RABDI TE GARAM DUDH-
Definitely a recommended dessert, since they make it all fresh, and the jalebi was not sticky but tasted sugary and sweet, but not too much. We loved the combination of Jalebi with rabdi which a bit of saffron, some almonds on top along with warm milk, which was not sweet and so it went well with the Jalebi.
5/5
GULAB JAMUN-
Not being a gulab jamun fan and still loving it, really says something, doesn't it? The gulab jamun had lots of pista, and saffron inside which just added the texture and flavour.
5/5
We were recommended to have their PAAN SHOTS which was just like cherry on top. Super refreshing and good to have after a heavy meal.
The chefs at Punjab Grill really know their food, because each and every dish has been so thoughtfully prepared and served with so much care you can literally see their efforts on your plate.
The service was impeccable, fast and efficient.
5/5 for them!
