Amazing food in a place out of nowhere.
Although the joint is very famous but its located in a small corner of a very busy street of Kalbadevi. From outside it looks like any ordinary 'bhojnayala" or " baasa" ...
Inside its decent...air conditioned, neat, clean , hygienic. But the magic starts once the food is served.
One of the best thalis I have ever had. The taste, the spread, the presentation and texture of every dish is just perfect.
Best dahi vadas I ever had and never had such amazing hot Patras. The bhajis, daal bati, kadhi, different kinds of roti ...everything was perfect...including the quantity served in the plates in the first helping.
What actually takes them beyond excellence is the warmth with which food is served. They serve you with great hospitality and keep requesting you to take more like you are a guest at home.
Its very reasonably priced and is complete value for money.
Strongly Recommend to people who want to have desi gujrati / marwari pure veg thalis.
Only its too heavy and makes one feel lazy after eating so much. Which is again a compliment for the food !!!
I am a hard core foodie!!! I generally love to taste foods from different cultures, though i am a South Indian. This place was a pleasant surprise amidst the chaotic Bhuleshwar market (in the heart of South Bombay) and the food, ambience, hospitality, hygiene & quality was undoubtedly supreme!!!! Though Gujarati or Rajasthani thali's are the last in my list of preferences, this one has really done its home work well and made it to the top in my list of preferred food joints!!! It is a must try joint for those who love eating without barriers!!
Amazingly good food!! Thaker serves every dish hot. That is the best part about dining here. The farsan, rotis, sabzi and especially the gulab jamun are always served hot. This makes it very special. This is the best thali i have ever eaten!!!!
I have been eating here since I was born, so that makes it more than 40 years. Really my father has been eating here since he was 10. The food taste is the same since the earliest days of my eating here. I am grateful to Shree Maganbhai for having fed me with his own hands and teaching me the combination of Bhakri and Kadhi. It's been a ritual for me to come and eat here once a month at least. Cheers to the Team and Gautam Purohit for giving us such amazing, tasty & healthy food. Will keep coming here till I am alive.
Not a fan of thali but this is the most amazing thali i have had.good variety.yummy tasting food.hygienic.friendly staff and owner.good service.highly recommend this place.👍🏻👍🏻

Relish The Taste of Vegetarian Food.”
If you are planning to visit this eatery some advice.
Go with ample time so as you can enjoy the taste of all dishes.
If possible skip a meal.
Located in a crowded area avoid taking a car or park it at a distance and walk.
The restaurant serves food authentically made at home with perfect balance of masalas.
I was shocked as i entered the restaurant and was welcomed by the staff and management.
The Staff service is extraordinary they serve with a smile and also keep a check as you are served a perfect qty so as food is not wasted or you are not over served with one dish.
We were planning to visit this restaurant from a long time but it used to get cancelled because of its location. We once reached the restaurant but it was Sunday Evening and the restaurant was closed.
As you enter the Dadiseth Agyari Marg it looks like a Khao Galli serving Masala papad Chaats and so on. The restaurant is located in the third building opp to GT High School on the first floor. The Restaurant has Air-condition and the ambiance is perfect for a Thalli.
The initial thought which comes in mind is the price per thali and you might feel it is over priced but after you eat the thali you would realise the charges are perfect. As the quality, quantity and the no of varieties they have is incredible.
As the menu changes everyday i would not like to comment on the dishes as all there dishes are made and served with love.
Try it and enjoy the Authentic Gujarati Thali.

Shree thakker bhojnalay, the most iconic gujrati restaurant located in the busy streets of kalbadevi holds a special place in my heart.
Serving all the authentic desi gujrati dishes, thali at thaker is a must try.
The quality of food is really high here and one of the reasons why I love this place.
Coming to what I tried here,
Gujrati khichdi and khadi
This is the best combo. Piping hot tangy kadhi served along with khichdi (topped up with lots of ghee) is the main dish of this restaurant.

Soft, thin hot and perfect 🤗

Though being Gujarati With a chef mom at home I often have most of the servings but trust me the taste that they have no one will every be able to match. No doubt the reason they are the oldest and the bestest in this business and also being recognised with times award for more than 3 time. There are more than 15 items and each one of them is just yummy. This is way way way better than @rajdhanithali where food serving is just a business. If You are in Mumbai don’t leave without visiting this place. You will love the city more because of restaurants like this. Tip: long waiting on weekends and weekdays😅. Probably the best Gujarati Thali in the world. The owner, Gautam Purohit, takes personal interest in every guest and ensures they have a great experience. The food is simply delicious and yet not too heavy.

Authentic Gujarati Thali with lots of good food!! This place was on my mind since a long time, n I finally visited it! The food is delicious, the desserts are too yummy!! The staff is courteous and welcoming! Definitely a hidden gem in the bylanes of Kalbadevi! 👍
Great food - we tried all of the different dishes incl bread types and rice! Great also for tourists who want to try out various dishes.

First of all you are not paying for the food you are paying for an experience... The hospitality and care offered is on another level.. food is great not some thing u can eat every day, at least for us as it is really rich and loaded with ghee.

Awesome gujarati thali. One of the best in Mumbai, all the dishes, especially undhiyu and pulav and khichdi were delicious. All the types of rotis are yummy too. Be prepared to wait for a whole as it is too crowded on sundays

The Gujarati thali is really awesome! The undhiyu and all the delicacies are great. Its a huge dish with lot of servings. Be prepared to wait a little. Tucked in a small lane but really worth.

The food is another plus point. The pulao was amazing even though it came at the end. The gujrati kadhi was like I have never had before. I would visit this place just for its Gujrati kadhi.
Everthing tasted so homely and the priciest were insanely cheap. I would love to come back here again.
The staff is very courteous and caters to your comfort. I particularly loved the daal baati churma and undhiyu. The varan bhaat was also lip smacking. The meal ends with some mouth watering desserts of which you must try the gulab jamun.
I had a good incident this morning , told them to make a kilo of Ghugra - the owner said I don’t have a bank for you to transfer money - want the income tax to know this - then after persuasion agreed to an advance on google pay- finally wasn’t ready to execute a one kg order wanted something much more - spoke to me like a favour with also making me feel like a thief !!! The man who spoke was KRISHNA PUROHIT the manager called himself the owner !! Everything that goes up will come down one day and they need to know this !!
This was on my list for long, and so on a Saturday afternoon , I finally got to taste what the hype about Shree Thaker Bhojanalay was! At a time when restaurants are all about the ambience and concept , often missing out on the food 😒, Shree Thaker packs a punch with its history , soothing authentic Gujarati food and the no nonsense but warm service ,all this while being light on your pocket and tummy. The spices are to the point and the food fresh and delicious.Their service is not rushed and allows for a leisurely eating. We were lucky to have got the seasonal undhiyo. Special mention for the Moong Dal no sheero. Point to be made - Go there and experience a piece of Mumbai's history.
Really good food, a lot of varieties, great staff and service. The ambience is also good. Although it is quiet reasonable for a thali, they don't compromise on the quality, taste or quantity. Worth your money if you have a good appetite. A must try for people who like thalis.
Would have given this 5 but the servuce dipped this time.sweet dish wasnt given. Love the food though. It was light . The variety Of rotis is terrific. The farsan is different variety. This is a legend and will.always remain so.

This place deserves rating higher then a 5. The place is set up in a most modest way but their thali is the most Royal out of all the thali joints in Mumbai. They have so many items in single serve that it’s difficult to go for another. Each item has unique taste that you wont find anywhere else. BEST ITEM: UNDHIYU. They have bith Jain and non-jain options. Cant wait for the undhiyu season to start to go here again.

Located in busy streets of kalbadevi. This outlet is truly a gem. They serve thali which includes various vegetarian delicacies.
Loved many of the gujarati item served in the thali. Taste was flavourful and everything was cooked nicely.
Prices are decent according to the portions.
Service was quick and very much appreciable.
Will surely visit again!!
Best place for trying very authentic and delicious gujarati food. I love the concept of unlimited thali as you can eat as per your capacity without any restrictions. There are so many items in the thali that i loved. Gujarati dal is my favorite. It is very simple but super tasty.
Can never get enough of this place. All time favorite go to Gujarati thali place in Mumbai. Even though it’s bit of a task to reach here. But it’s totally worth it. Anyone who loves and understands proper Gujarati thali is going to fall in love with this place.

Easily one of the best places serving authentic (Gujarati to be more precise) food. I am not only a foodie, but a very picky one at that and I am not easily pleased. This place checks all the boxes for me.
The best Gujarati Thali experience that I've ever. The food is utterly delicious, the quantity is great and price is very reasonable considering you can eat all you want.
Every single item was flavor balanced and tasting great. The service was awesome and every time we found the service right next to us when we finished something.
If you want to satisfy your taste buds with some authentic food, don't look any further than Shree Thaker Bhojanalay.
Also another interesting part is you don't feel full or blotted at the end of the meal possibly the reason being use of fresh ingredients, no artificial flavors and less soda. The taste of every item in the Thali is great from salad to Dal and to top it of the fresh dessert at the end is bliss.

Amazing gujrati food. My personal favourites were biscuit bhakari, gujrati daal, khasta kachori and dhokla. The manager and staff is polite. The aloo sabji is good. I did not like the other sabjis that much but the thali is totally worth the other stuff on plate. Also... Daal baati❤❤

I was invited here by a friend of mine and I was delighted. Amazing vegetarian food and you can choose between sweet Dal/ spicy Dal if you don’t like them sweet like many non Gujaratis. Our Host Krishna really took care of us, really felt like home with family feeding us hot food with love! He was so careful about things being hot! The roti s! So much variety - buiscit roti- non gluten options, poori and ghee roti! All delicious! their Pooran Poli is the best in the city! Amazing other deserts as well! Many chutneys- Garlic chilli was my favourite! Snacks had moong Dal pakori, white dhokla , papad, Kachori, chaat and fryums! Their menu rotates through the week! But it’s always this elaborate! The Aloo matar and paneer was also really tasty! If you like desi Indian food this is the place! Don’t miss it! For me hygiene is more important than ambience so while the place is a simple seating the washrooms were slick clean and well equipped which is why they deserved the five stars!
Thaker bhojanalay understands the true meaning of good food. My love for food increased after eating lunch here. The way these sweet people serve food you won't stop yourself from thaking them as much as you can. Located in the by lanes of kalbadevi this 75 year old gujrati restaurant serves grand thalis. When i say grand it has 4 different kinds of kadi & daal, 4 different sabzi, 4 sweet dish and different variety of chapatis. Their pineapple and lichi kheer is to die for. The staff is so polite and they make sure you enjoy your food but should not waste. I am surely going again to this place.

My favourite Thali from my Favourite place, Shree Thaker Bhojanalay, Kalbadevi, Mumbai.
The place is serving these authentic Gujarati Thali since 1945 and they still have got the top-notch. Places such as Maharaja Bhog can never match the taste and quality.
The Thali here is undefeated. The variety of food is twice wider than the Maharaja Bhog. They offer here 4 different types of chapati here and three types of sweet dishes and all these are unlimited. Puran Poli is an over the top.
Every single dish here is fresh and all this would cost you only ₹500/- including taxes.
And talking about the service, man oh man, forgot about the politeness and humbleness, there will be a guy for you to help you have each and every bite.
What more could you want?

Purpose of visit- One of the most talked restaurant in town, so had to give a chance to try it out.
Location - In bylanes of Kalbadevi, 15-20 min walk from Marine lines railway station and 12-15 mins walk from charni road.
Restaurant details - The Ambience is good with homely decor, the kitchen is pretty clean. The staff is providing quick service and the food served is hot.
Order details - The Gujarati thali consisted of
1) Dhokla - Served hot and was spongy
2) Potato and Chilli fritter / Batata and Mirchi bhajiya- These too served hot and the taste was good. The garlic chutney served alongside this was tasty.
3) Red Toor sabzi - This was amazing in taste.
4) Potato green peas sabzi - It's a regular thing with these gujju thali restaurants.
5) Gawar ki sabzi/ Cluster beans - This too was tasty enough but was bit sweet.
6) Daal Baati - Not sure what happened but felt some spicy kick to it, which I am not used to.
7) Ragda pattice - Anothe starter item which was good.
8)Daal ( sweet and spicy)- Both were good.
9) kadhi - This was good too, also had a mango kadhi which was tasty.
10) Aamras - Not made of Alphonso mango but still it was good.
11) Breads - Makai ki roti, Jowar ki roti, Stuffed roti and Puri. These all were tasty and were accompanied by crushed jaggery and topped with ghee.
12) curd - think was made right in the container , it was thick enough.
13) Kichidi - This was bit different from what we usually get.
14) Buttermilk - This was okay, but wish they make it much better by adding pepper and dash of coriander leaves.
Conclusion - Overall good experience, but the Location isn't that great. Hardly any taxi is ready to take you to this place, and there isn't any car park nearby. Commute to this place is tough else it's good.

I'm a big fan of this place Thali, We had gone for lunch, on Saturday, restaurant owner as well as staff give you the warm welcome. Desert special was Aamras Puri, Coconut Barfi and dudh pakh😋. In starter it was Malai dhokla, corn kabab and palak pakori. Aloo sabji, and turai sabji was my favourite. For Thali I always visit this place only

Nothing like a good Gujarati meal in Mumbai and you cannot miss this place. Had stayed in Mumbai for such a long time yet never visited this place. Came here with family and the place was buzzing with people even on a Tuesday afternoon.

An out of the world Gujarati Thali restaurant with roots in history. Serving amazing lip smacking delicacies since 1945, the celebrity visits to this place are quite explanatory of the standards. Polite staff and homely ambience makes this place a must visit. (P.S- Parking is a challenge since the place is located in the narrow gully of Kalbadevi).
The place very rightly rated so high has food taste and variety absolutely right.
The staff is also quite courteous.
The only disadvantage and that too a very BiG one is the non availability of parking which makes it impossible for a comfortable family trip for people travelling from outside the island City (like me who travel from Navi Mumbai).
They should also add a good pan as part of the rate charged.

Very rarely do I think a restaurant is underrated by Zomato. And even more rarely do I put up a review after one visit to a restaurant. But Shree Thaker Bhojanalay won me over with their amazing food and even more amazing hospitality. After a terrible day, they managed to turn my frown upside down :)
Be warned, the thali has a lot of dishes and you would do well to pace yourself - though everything tastes sooo good that you would be hard pressed to do that. 7 types of bread, rice and khichdi - apart from a range of snacks, chutneys and summer special of aamras. The staff is wonderful, suggesting how best you can match different delicacies and constantly urging you to eat more - reminding me of my grandmother. No wonder they have been around since 1945.
Would strongly recommend everyone to visit! And skip a meal before that :)
I was thoroughly delighted with the lunch I ordered from the hotel. The flavors were exquisite, and it's clear that the chefs put a lot of care into crafting each dish. The presentation was impeccable, and the food arrived at my doorstep still warm and fresh. The portion sizes were generous, making it a satisfying and fulfilling meal. It's evident that the hotel values not only the taste but also the quality of their food. I'm truly impressed by the seamless delivery experience and the attention to detail in every aspect. Very systematic, excellent loving service. They feed you like you are a family member.
No valet parking plus almost no parking available so keep that in mind.

A busy and popular place with very friendly staff. We went on a weekday and had a slight waiting time. We were ushered in and seated. Different foods kept appearing. I particularly enjoyed the hot rotis and breads. To help digest all the delicious and rich food, I highly recommend drinking a lot of the cooling buttermilk (chaas).

This thali never ceases to amaze you. One of the best Thalis you can have ever and ever.
The owner themselves ensure that you are well served and you eat till you drop. The snacks, the rotis sabzi and the deserts; you will wish to have 2, possibly 3 stomachs. Its a real treat to eat here.
