Sorry but have forgotten the name of the dishes. All were great. The far left is a dish made of dall which is eaten by applying butter on it. The next dish is made of peanuts. Creamy peanuts with some whole ones which melted as soon as you touched it. The last was the Puri which is standard to order for breakfast. Loved everything. Not had these dishes so enjoyed the experience. Would recommend trying these out!!
We went as a trio,
During evening, wasn't crowded but usually is.
We wanted to try Girgaon bhel, but unfortunately it wasn't available,
So, we ordered Thalipeeth, Misal Pav, Zunka bhakar, Kokam Sarbat and Kharvas at last.
Everything tasted better, but thalipeeth and misal pav was the best ones, misal pav was nice n spicy, as well as zunka bhakar plate had Thecha in it, which was the best.
And to cool the spice down, you might try kokam sarbat along with it.
For a trio, we payed around 600/- and we loved it.

Good place to have authentic Maharashtrian food … staff was so well behaved and great service.Loved all the dishes which my friend ordered and we were going back to Kerala so we had a great taste of local cuisine.Piyush and Cocom Sarbat was awesome 🥰.Value for money too.
Visit Girgaon katta when you crave authentic Maharashtrian food.. The food was tasty and mouth watering.. The service was equally quick, and they served piping hot food. Overall, a soul satisfying food experience.
After office hours my colleague gave us a treat at this place. Being a foodie such opportunities are always welcome. I am a regular customer since they had this restaurant at Chandavarkar Lane. Now the restaurant is shifted and I could see a few new faces as servers. This is a Pure Veg Non-AC restaurant with limited parking space at Borivali West, opposite Moksh Plaza. This is a place to enjoy some superb Maharashtrian cuisine. Preferably go on an empty stomach so that you can devour the maximum variety of food.
We tried many dishes such as Kanda-Batata Mix Bhaji INR 58, Methi Thalipeeth INR 90, Upvas Thalipeeth INR 85, Misal Pav INR 85, Maka Pattice INR 75, Zunka Bhakari INR 130, Bharit Bhakari INR 130, Kharvas INR 55 for 100gms and cutting Tea INR 30. All of these were very good. Personally I liked the Bharit Bhakari served with mirchi thecha. The Bharit was smooth, little sweet and smokey. When combined with mirchi thecha it balanced the taste. The Zunka was okay with less spice and salt and was not like the one I had tasted in their old restaurant. The Misal was spicy but watery and was served with onions and a slice of lemon. The Maka Pattice and Thalipeeth are deep fried and both can be skipped if you are a health conscious. The jaggery kharvas and tea were amazing. The menu has loads of other dishes to enjoy, however with a team of 5 people we were only able to have the above dishes. Best to go in groups so that you can try variety of dishes.
The food is fairly priced and is light on the pocket. We spend approx. INR 1200 and per person INR 240 gave us a heavy meal. The food quality is decent and some more efforts can be taken to improve the taste which is not up to the mark. As it was crowded, I noticed that they were unable to handle large orders. Also, the server messed up and served us a wrong dish. Nevertheless, if you are nearby and want to taste maharashtrian cuisine, do visit them as they do not have delivery service, unless you order from Zomato.
Mumbai has limited good Marathi food joints and this will surely be in that league, if they overcome the service and taste factor.
Thanks for the wonderful time and food. Considering that the price range is from Rs 50 upwards to not more than Rs 200 per dish, it's value for money. Khupach Svasta in local lingo. Jhakass!
The food is very well-made and flavourful. I’ve never had misal paav this good in my life.
Girgaon Katta had been revamped to ensure the service is a homely one. The food no doubt hasn't changed a bit and continue to amaze me anytime i visit. A must visit to every non-mumbai crowd to savor the authentic maharashtrian cuisine. Their chai is something to try out.. for all the chai lovers, do visit this place
Ate Sabudana Wada with Chutney specially for UPVAS (FAAST)
Taste ws good 9/10 for this Sabudana wada and specially for chutney
This is must try item over here if you are nearby borivali station west and specially if its your Faast... ❤️❤️😀😋😋
Authentic vibes with amazing... Felt like being in dadar or Girgaon.
Huge seating area with neat and clean vibes.. we tried sabudana vada and Piyush.. sabudana vada was hot and crisp. Piyush was amazing. Not too heavy on sweetness. Prices are also reasonable..
They have a restroom facility too.. which was clean and neat which was browny point.
Authentic Maharashtra yummilicious food be it thalipith, kothimbir wadi, dahi misal, Kanda bhaji, kothimbir vadi, raw mango panah, and now mango mastani.
All this at a very nominal price. Completely homely food.
Methi thalipith is a new add on in the menu and is simply delicious.
Lucky to have A renewed once again Girgaon katta just opp to moksha plaza in Borivali West..
So that's reminds me of Aaswaad & Prakash of Shivaji park.
The below review 3 years back:
Yummy crunchy kothimbir vadi and hot bhajiyas served here.. Just amazing. I even like thalipeth and dahi misal.. And 1 glass of piyush drink
Authentic maharashtrian food, prompt service. Preferred by gujrati families who relish maharashtra dishes and some join foods. Limited parking but vantage location near indraprastha mall.
The place is a treat for one who wants to try out authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. It's is a pure veg restaurant and it serves Jain food aswell. We had misal pav and kanda poha they were lip-smacking. It is the best misal pav that I've ever tried in my life. It wasn't to spicy nor too sweet it was perfect combination of both. The service here is just amazing they look after evey table timely.
"लई भारी" [Lai Bhaari/Too Good]
Visited this awesome place which represents maharashtrian food especially the south mumbai's Girgaon area, which had majority of maharashtrian population tll about last century.
The taste of food from this location is unique in its way. At Girgaon Katta I felt being at Girgaon literally. The food was Awesome.
We ordered "चहा " [Chaha/Tea], filled with a good amount of masala including Ginger. Ekdam Kadak.
next up "मटार पॅटीस " [Matar Pattice/green pease ] a pattice filled with green pease was smooth crispy and yummy.
"थालीपीठ " [Thalipeeth/multi-grain pancake] - it was exactly the way maharashtrian's cook. yummy and crispy side loaded with "लोणी "[unprocessed butter] and "चटणी " [sauce]
"मिसळ पाव " [Misal Paav/moth beans vegetable topped with farsan[fried gram flour] and Bread] - it was just the right amount of all ingredients and typical classy taste. spicy and yummy.
concluded with "पियुष " [Piyush/yogurt] it was sweet and tasty.
Food : 5/5

They also serves snacks & sweets. Best place to visit with friends and family. Also value for money with good quantity as well as quality.
