If you are searching for a decent multi-cuisine dine-in restaurant near Fashion Street & Churchgate then Balwas' Restaurant should be your go-to place.
The restaurant is situated on the road of Khaugalli & Bombay Hospital.
We went here for a friend's birthday party ( Ofcourse Before Lockdown). The place is very popular in the locality thus attracts a good amount of crowd.
The menu has a good variety to choose from however we ordered with Manchow Soup & Non-Veg North Indian Cuisine.
The taste was awesome. The staff was helpful & helped us to decide our order. The ambience is pleasant. The menu is moderately priced.

This is a nice place. Its not heavy on your pocket and delicious decent quantity food. Also a fine dine and normally a family crowd hence you can expect a quite and a peaceful dinner. North Indian cuisine is better than their chinese.
Overall a good experience with good quality quantity
The butter chicken of Balwas is just excellent. For most of family get togethers this place is amazing. Yes it’s costly than usual but it worth every penny.

One of the best place from the olden times and still you will never get dissappointed from is Balwas Restaurant.
This place as suggested is the best one for the Chicken and Mutton dishes. I tried there two of the finest Murgh Shahajani and Chicken Reshmi Seekh Kebab.
Must say the chicken was very soft, juicy, well cooked and balanced.
Will certainly come to this place again to try out something more
Nice place very good service and good food quality teriyaki chicken and kabab khas worth the try
Chicken and only Chicken.
I am a die-hard fan of the chicken lollypop that they serve.
I have hardly seen places where 8 gigantic pieces are served on a plate. They're so crisp from outside and juicy from inside. Every bite of it feels your heart with joy and happiness.
Kebabs and Chicken gravy items are the other items you giys must try over here.

I am visiting again this weekend, so when are you planning your visit over here?
It's a nice cosy place, delicious food and good ambience... Not luxurious but pleasing to the eye... Just remember to tell the waiter not to rush your orders... We had ordered for tandoori chicken and before we finished they brought the next starter to the table... We finished it cold...
I’ve been visiting this restaurant since I was a kid. Excellent food with amazing food service :)
The service was excellent. Tasty food. The biryani was not hot. Glass was cracked and another was dirty. Overall it was a good experience.

Balwas is one of the best multi Cuisine Restaurant near Bombay Hospital, in Marine Lines, Mumbai. Ambience is nice food is delicious and very good service. Must try sea food and especially King Prawns Sizzler. Other dishes are also good especially non-vegetarian. Dessert options are also great, Sizzling Brownie with Icecream and Royal Sundae are best. I had a grey time friends here. A complete family restaurant.
Visited here with my family and the food served here same as always great taste and enjoyed a lots i keep visiting once in a month but always there taste remains unchanged 👍
A very nice place for mughlai food especially biryani. The prices are also reasonable. It's always a delight to order from Balwas' Restaurant.
A very good family restaurant.
Service is amazing, the staff is very friendly and serves the food in quick time.
Chicken Saibo is a must try starter.
Overall the food is amazing and the ambience as well.
Have been visiting this place since I was a child. At this place both veg and non-veg dishes are great.Do try seafood at this place it's just amazing.
One of the old restaurant in Mumbai and must visit for every foodie and for family dinner outings. High quality of Indian and Chinese food. Courteous staff and very helpful. They are very busy on weekends yet they have a very good and comfortable outdoor sitting for waiting customers. Soup, starter, Chinese starter, dessert, malai kulfi, the custard is must try. Also, try seafood soup for seafood lovers and kebab platters. 5star for serving us since so long.
I have been visiting Balwas since the early 80’s and their food has stayed top notch right through. This is an institution and worthy of significant praise. I would rate their Butter Chicken and Tandoori Pomfret as probably the best I have ever tasted. also a spectacular Dal Makhani and Palak Paneer. Thank you
Amazing and authentic Moghlai food. Taste has never changed here. Great consistency in quality and taste. Very rare to find. Staff is superbly friendly and is always quick to respond
One of the best reataurents in the churchgate area. We tried their crispy chicken and chicken hunan and both were beyond expectations. Their sizzling brownie is a must try.Our stomachs were full but still we craved for more. The prices are neither too high nor too low. The staff are polite and approachable. Perfect for a family lunch or dinner. However Dum biryani was not to our taste so you can avoid the same
Amazing food, great service and good vibes. Smoked chilli kabab, Mutton Dum Biryani and ended with a kulfi. Great place at a great price
Love this place!!!
One of the old and long living best restaurants near Bombay hospital, chicken crispy, chicken Saibo , kebabs platter, Chicken Shajan, tandoor, Biryani, Kulfi falooda everything is PERFECT, the staff are so so courteous, feel like home. They are the best in their business..
Located at Marine Lines behind the Income tax office at M.K. Road, this restaurant is really nice and clean. The food is above expectation, so is the service.
After a tiring day of shopping we dropped here and wanted to have tasty food. To our utter surprise, we had number of platters that seemed like ghar ka khana in the menu.
For refreshment we had ordered Fresh Fruit Juice ( Orange ) INR 130, Fresh Lime Soda INR 95,
Being the fish lovers, we had ordered Tandoori Machali INR 670. They had cooked the fresh Pompret with the spices and herbs so well that it was an added hunger booster.
For main course, we had Aloo Gobi INR 220, which tasted like ghar ka khana, so good and delicious, Paratha INR 40, Murgh Dum Biriyani INR 260, who doesn't like biriyani? It is what nonveg foodies love to gulp. Ordered a Green salad INR 115 inbetween the main courses, we were full but we wanted to have more.
Meal is incomplete without dessert so having sweettooth, I ordered Rasmalai INR 120, and Gulab Jamun as well INR 95.
Gulab Jamun melted my heart with the hot and sweetness.
Staffs were really courteous and being tourists we were treated with so much respect and awesome service.
The maintenance and cleanliness of the restaurant is really good.
Rating : 4.5/5
Great food. Great vibe. The biryani over there was amazing. It's not that expensive. The non veg food is great should definitely try it. Overall great experience
JUICY KEBABS PACKED WITH FLAVOR
Balwas is one of the oldest restaurants near my college and I visited it for the first time in six years. College got over in the last year.
Love the staff. They were so friendly and welcoming.
Food is nice, cooked with love. It isn’t too spicy but the flavors cover up well for it. The restaurant is usually crowded, so you’ll have to wait for your table. Price is on the higher side compared to other Mughlai restaurants in the area, so visiting is irregularly is alright.
We tried
1. Chicken kebab platter
2. Chick triple schezwan fried rice
Taste - 4/5
Ambience - 5/5
Service - 4/5
Try special chiken and pahadi chiken very very tasty typical bora people food with prime location one branch is also in fort. Thay serves very delicious gravies
The food is amazing and has beautiful muglai food. The staff is friendly. This is a place that I often visit with my family since the price is right for the quality of food being served and it's a great place to place a home delivery order too.
My absolute favourites are the Kebabs,Chicken crispy,Chicken Shahajani and the triple schezwan fried rice(the best i have eaten).
If you are a non vegetarian, must try this place. You will be getting an unforgettable experience to have delicious food with wide variety. Hotel is having very rich ambience and cost of food is not much high, 😊 you will surely feel value for money place with respect to quality of food
Great place to have biriyani. My friend ordered chicken tikka biriyani and it was awesome (according to her). I ordered hyderabadi veg Pulav and it was one of the best I ever had.
Raita was also good.
Stuffs were very courteous and helpful.
Balwas has started it's new dish , Ramadan Special- Chicken khapsa Rice, it's delicious and good for 2 to 3 person , you should surely try it's awesome
If u are lookjng for good tasty and pocket friendly food without the frills of South Mumbai restaurants. This is the place to go.
Staff/service is really good
Ambience is good of a comfortable family diner
Food excellent had chefs recommended teriyaki chicken and veg kofta curry.
Visited on 27th May with family have been to this place many times before as well. The food is very good had chicken tandoori was really good less colour and tasty. Tried the chicken Tikka masala and chicken dum masala and chicken biryani. It was excellent. The service can be improved the repeat roti order took more than 10 mins and the waiters and manager were grumpy.
Visited this place with colleagues. The ambience was quaint and classy. While this place is famous for non-veg, some of us decided to go ahead with the veg menu.
We tried veg Manchurian fried rice and schezwan fried rice. We also tried their special deserts menu: mango milkshake, mango lassi and mango with icecream. All these were highly ok!
Overall it was an above average experience but the food and the deserts could have been better. Will request the hotel to increase the vegetarian menu.
Until the next time, ciao!
Balwas has been my family dinner place since my childhood. The food is amazing and so is the service. The chicken Sybo remains my favourite. I love Balwas’.
It's a family restaurant. The best dish available here is butter chicken. It's too good and i have never tasted such butter chicken anywhere else. I will give 5/5 to this restaurant for food.
Tasty food, slightly expensive considering the portion size, soothing ambience with warm welcoming staff. Chicken mumtaaz and chicken shahajaan a must have!
Really nicee place.I do keep on visiting it.The service, the food, everything is just perfect.Their crispy chicken is really tasty. Each and every dish was amazing
Balwas is an amazing place to have lunch or dinner with your family. the staff is great. the food is great too. We ordered prawns which were very small in size and was not expected at all. we have visited this place quite a few times and every time I've been satisfied with the food. the chicken here is just marvelous. it's juicy and we'll cooked. fresh.
After buying breathtaking outfits near the area, we had lunch at Balwas. It's a popular tourist hang out, and a great place to eat at.
The food is so good, I absolutely loved their butter garlic Naan dripping in butter but delicious. I had it along with murgh makhanwala. Butter overdose? Yes, and I loved it. 😄
Have only ordered in from Balwas, never been to the restaurant itself.
The one stop shop... Mughalai, (Indian) Chinese... sizzlers..................
My standard orders are
Biryani (Vege, Chicken, Mutton, Egg)
Tandoori Chicken
Chicken Tikka
Paneer Tikka
Harabara
Fried Rice
Manchoorian
Chilly Chicken dry
My favourite - CHICKEN LOLLYPOP...
you get the gist..
have never been let down.
deliveries have been prompt. Food has top taste.
The fired rice and manchoorian/ chilly chicken - is often a relief... especially as its not easy to find good indian chinese anymore... especially since all the Yautcha and Umame's have mushroomed all over the city.
We have a Jaffer Bhai's not too far away... whose quality might just be better - but the variety and flavours of Balwas win over my 5 senses...
P.S. i order from here atleast once / twice a month.
One of the oldest family hangout place in SoBo. I’ve been visiting this place since more than two decades for now, when recently visited after a long time, I was surprised to see still same ambience, decor , service and taste too.
I still love to taste some of my favourites from here - Butter Chicken, chicken Shahajani, Daal fry and Caramel Custard.
Happy to see caring staff , well maintained and preserved wooden decor.
This place is definitely close to my heart.
Very old establishment. My father tells he use to come during his college days. Must say the staff is very friendly and soft spoken. The ambience and quality of food is good. the portion size is a bit small but decent for the price.
Tried tandoori chicken , Banjara kebab, sliced chicken in hot pot sauce ( must try) the sauce was not sweet compared to other Chinese starters. In mains tried Rajdarbari chicken. All the dishes were well cooked and tasty especially the tandoori chicken which mostly you will find a bit uncooked in between and the Chinese starter.
sizzling brownie was not sizzling at all.
overall will give it a 4 as its really a value for money.
Absolutely tasty non-veg food. Service was good too. The mutton dish we ordered was sumptuous and the food quantity was perfect.. infact more than we expected it to be on the plate!
Went here on recommendation of a Mumbai based food blogger......the place was good....but staff a bit lazy n weird....service was quick although......ordered egg curry.....it was so delicious that I ordered again and enjoyed every bite.....ordered egg biryani which was Hyderabadi style (biryani rice and gravy in the middle) ......the biryani was also good......good place for non vegetarian......
Been at this place a few times, Must try:
1) Starter - Kabab a Khaas (it's laajawab)
2) Soup - Manchow Soup
3) Main course - Chicken Shahjahani with garlic naan
4) Rice - Chicken Sizzler with rice.
Great Restaurant, nice locality, good ambiance, overall, worth every penny.
P.S., they close by 11 pm, go early!
Visited the place with family and the ambiance is welcoming. With warm lighting, the place is great to hold conversations. For drinks we ordered fresh lime soda and a few mocktails which were all well prepared. Coming to the food, we ordered for chicken tandoori, dragon chicken, paneer tikka, mushroom masala and mutton dum biryani. All the dishes came with perfect spices and tasted good. Ended the meal with rabdi kulfi and sizzling brownie.Thd deserts on point.
While eatery does well on the food front, it falls back on the service. From what could be seen, the staff isn't trained well on how to handle the bustling crowd. The good and drinks too took extremely long to arrive. Have to up their service game!!
Had been here today for a Family Treat :)
We had ordered the following items:
1. Prawns (King) Koliwada for starters
2. Chicken Dum Masala gravy
3. Mutton Dum Biryani
4. Cheese Garlic Naan - all three for maincourse
5. Sizzling Brownie & 6. Kulfi Rabdi for desserts
7. Watermelon & Cocktail for drinks
The ambience of this place is quiet, soothing and welcoming. They have instrumental music playing in the backdrop while one can enjoy their meals and have conversations. I found the service okay and feel that they can do better, especially the staff and their interaction with customers.
Coming to the food, I liked the Sizzling Brownie - Chicken Dum Masala - Mutton Dum Biryani - Cocktail Juice the best :) The brownie tasted really good with the right amount of crunch and softness and loads of walnuts in it. The Chicken gravy had variety of spices with succulent pieces of meat in it while the Dum Biryani was lightly flavoured and cooked well. And the cocktail was good too.
What I found could be improved was the Garlic Naan which could be made more soft and the Prawns Koliwada which lacked salt and taste.
Look and feel that should really in all the restaurants is not much there😊
Food is not that much appreciative because some food will not fill your hearts😊
But if you want to go its ok been there as it is a (3 star restaurant)😊
Thank you!!!!!!☺️
One of my old favourite restaurants for Mughlai food. I relish the butter chicken. They have really tasty jaana and tandoori rotis. The Chinese food here is okay, though the Munchow soup and Teriyaki chicken are absolutely delicious.
Good ambiance, quality food, service is prompt and must haves are teriyaki chicken and chilly paneer. Cosy family restaurant. They also have a small separate portion to accommodate small gatherings and get togethers
We dropped into this restaurant unplanned and enjoyed every bit of the time spent eating.
Ambiance, food quality and taste, service were too good.
Although a bit noisy inside due to a large group dining near us, we thoroughly ate to full stomach.
Mohammed Akram took care of us with his recommendations.
U should try the "Murg Makhani" its the best main course out there also they provide excellent professional service and superfast delivery.😄
This has been a restaurant that my family goes to few times a year for a long while now . The food here has been consistently good and it is really worth it.
This time I had the chicken lemon coriander soup which was really just a cream and chicken soup(a good one though) so don't go for that.
We had two dishes for main course with rumali roti and butter garlic naan.
Chicken shahjahani had boneless chicken in red gravy and was a little spicy.
Fish tikka masala had boneless fish tikka pieces in some curry which was very tasty. I think it would go with rice though we just had rotis.
Good food... vintage dining.. made our diwali...did not had that amount of chicken before,it is just because the freshness and taste of tender chicken
Reshmi kebab was yumm..
Chicken lababdar 4/5
Naan with choice of softness/crunchiness
Overall good food
Best for Mughlai cuisine ❤
I have been here 3-4 times but this place never disappointed me.They have good service with soft music going on in the background 🎶
So coming to the food we ordered
Reshmi kebab : Chicken perfectly cooked in tandoor with proper amount of marination combined well to give Reshmi kebab it was good in taste with proper spicyness. (3.5/5)
Murg Shahjani : Soft and tender shredded chicken with flavourful gravy with right amount of tanginess and spicyness along with butter nan. (4/5)
Boneless chicken biryani ❤ : The best biryani I ever had one must try atleast the biryani of balwas it is just awesome with proper layering of rice and chicken the most tasty biryani ever had. (5/5)
Some places carry mystic charm around them.. for people working in Marine lines or frequent visitors to Aayakar Bhavan, this place is one of such place.
Nothing great about ambience but when you enter, it does give you some vintage feeling of old Bombay (now Mumbai) style dinner. The interiors have not changed for almost ten years and so is the taste as well as affection of staff while serving.
This food has a limited menu but serves excellent Non-vegetarian as well as Vegetarian food. Service is prompt and decent. Cost is above average but good quantity compensate for it.
Overall recommended for its vintage/old dinner feel and taste.
One of the best restaurants I have been to. The ambience is superb with good staff for support. I visited this restaurant for a birthday function and everything was perfect from customer service to decoration as well as food. It is situated near IncomeTax office / GST Bhavan in marine lines. The restaurant is inside a lane opposite to a Dargah and is easy to reach by through car or cab. However parking is an issue as one has to park in the lane itself and there is no assuarance of parking availability or security of your vehicle, so plan in advance. Thank You.
Talking about the ambience it was absolutely tranquil. Service was pretty good with obliging staff. They were even suggesting some dishes which tasted really nice ! Food was great especially the non veg part although the veg part has a lot of scope for improvement !
A complete 5 because Balwass gives you not just good north indian, mughlai food in its authentic delicious flavour but also provides you the same at very reasonable prices! It is very smooth on your pocket if you go in a group 2 or more.
The food is delicious and unlike most places in Bombay, this place serves authentic mughlai food at a comparatively cheaper price.
The chicken dum biryani is a must try! Flavourful, right amount of masala and well cooked always.
One should also try their Chicken Shahjani which is my favourite amongst the Chicken Main Course. It's shredded chicken in a brown thick gravy which is appropriately spicy. Delicious!
In starters, a must try is their signature dish, - Kebab E Khass.
One cal also try Hyderabadi Pulao, Dal Makhani, Mutton Biryani, Chicken tikka Biryani
To top of all that, their staff is absolutely adorable, always keen on attending their guests humbly!
Really great quality food & authentic taste. Try Chicken Sajani & Mutton Bhuna with Butter Rotis.
I found quantity is bit less, rest everything is great.
Going to Balwas has always been good. The food, service, and ambiance are all good.
We tried nihari, butter chicken, chicken mix platter and chicken saibo.
The dry items were excellent. But I'm not a fan of balwas' nihari. Even the butter chicken was just all right.
It's a good place to visit whenever you are in the vicinity.
Do give it a try.

🌟 Taste: 4.5/5
We had exclusively ordered nonveg and veg starters it was awesome yummy and delicious. Since 2 of us where on dietary eaters. But will highly recommend overall to visit as and when you wish.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere... Food quality and quantities are good... Prices are not very much ....
Excellent service! Their butter chicken and paneer makhani were exceptional. We also enjoyed their butter naans & paneer tikka. Visited twice in 3 days! Highly recommended.
Balwas restaurant is closed to Wankhede stadium & Fashion Street, -Churchgate. They serve Indian and Chinese cuisine. Seating arrangements along with interiors of the restaurant are very comfortable and beautiful. They have a separate large Banquet and Conference Hall attached to the restaurant. This is being used to cater heavy rush or is being rented out for parties.
We ordered:
Virgin pinacolada: It had pineapple juice with fresh vanilla ice-cream and topped pineapple. It was creamy and refreshing. Presentation was brilliant.
Fresh pineapple juice: It was a pure pineapple juice with cut fruit topping.
Tandoori Pomfret: Fresh jumbo size pomfret was marinated in yogurt and spices. It was cooked to perfection in tandoor. It was served with green chutney and mayonnaise. It was scrumptious and we enjoyed it the most.
Mutton Seekh kabab: Tender mutton was finely minced and marinated with spices and cream. It was roasted to perfection to safeguard its juices.
Mutton Bhuna with cheese garlic naan : Boneless mutton chunks were cooked with mint and spices in red thick onion and tomato based gravy. It was delicious.
Bheja masala: Brain was cooked with herbs and spices in thick red gravy. A must try dish for all the organ lovers.
King Prawns Masala: Fresh jumbo sized prawns were cooked with spices to form a thin red gravy. It tasted yummy.
Rasmalai: The rasmalai was creamy and milky. It was light, spongy, spiced with cardamom and aromatic saffron. It was irresistible and we were unable to stop at just one.
Pot Kulfi: Kulfi was served with with rabri. It was solid, dense with lots of nuts, saffron and condense milk. It was yummy. It was my favourite dessert.
Mr. Saeed welcomed and greeted us professionally. Mr. Ejaz served us extremely well and suggested us the best dishes of the restaurant. He helped us to select the best by explaining us the dishes in details ensuring to suit our taste buds.
The staff was polite, well mannered, well behaved and safety conscious.
Their kitchen was neat and clean to match the international standards.
It's a must visit place for delicious, authentic Mughlai and Chinese food.
Very nice food and located very close to CST.
The staff is very friendly and is always ready to help you with the speciality of the day. The place is crowded with medical tourists due to proximity to Bombay hospital. The rush makes you feel like eat and go, as the staff is always next to you. So, if you want to spend quality time with family and friends I would rather choose something else next time. The rating is purely for food.
✅ Family and Couple Friendly
✅ Non vegetarian varities
✅ Fast and courteous service
✅ Tasty food sufficient portion.
🔴 Free Parking available nearby.
You may find it lil overpriced, but its worth considering location and service.
Mutton biriyani was delicious!! The essence, flavors and softness of the mutton pieces all together gave me a heavenly experience!!! I liked the murg shajani dish. Crispy chilly aloo was also a yammi one! Other cheese nun, pinacolada, rasmalai were average. And also I have tasted the alag alag kabab which was a perfect one with biriyani
